Sweet Home Plantation Reviews
Cindi Taylor(parent)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-10-2019 This is not set up for a venue. As the owner told me afterwards, “this is residence”. And it’s advertised for a venue which it is far from. Old houses have one plug in the room which enables the wedding party to get ready. The whole wedding party would like to see what they look like when they are dressed in their attire , there is 1 full swivel mirror in the whole house. The bride cannot even see her whole silhouette in her dress. We requested to use the backyard after the rehearsal to have a small meal for the wedding party and nothing was set up or tables cleaned off or outdoor restroom cleaned there were spiders in the restrooms. The day of the wedding should of been a time for the couple to relax and get themselves ready, oh no they had to go to the venue and hang lights outside cause the night before we set in the dark at the rehearsal dinner. There was no way for handicapped people to even enter the house. There were large walnuts all over the ground and we asked if they could clean them up so the guest and wedding party wouldn’t trip over them and none were cleaned up. There was suppose to people there directing guest for parking and where to go as they approached the house, there was one lady Mrs Laura. Oh and let me tell you about Mrs Laura, after the happy couple was stuck in a room to cut the cake while all the guest were outside Mrs. Laura decided to scoop the cake up with her hands and serve it to guest, (we have pics of this). I have many medical professionals in my family and they were not about to eat cake from a lady whose hands were covered in the cake I mean covered. The guest were suppose to sign the register when they came through the front door but since there was no one telling people where to go only about 10 people signed the book. This is just a few things that happened I would not refer this place to anyone. The only thing this young couple should of been charged for was the actual outdoor part of the nuptials the rest of it was a joke. Reviewed on 03-01-2020
Lauren Bryant(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-04-2015 I have never given a bad review before but I think Brides should know what they are getting with this venue. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful and I would give it 5 stars! It is a perfect place to get married outside and could not have been more perfect for my fiance and I. The event coordinator on other hand was not at all helpful. She was very hard to get in contact with throughout the whole engagement. Most of our answers were given to us by our caterer since they have done many weddings there. Before we signed the contract we were told that having the reception in the gazebo area would have plenty of lights. Well, as soon as the sun went down it was very hard to see. We were told by our caterer that usually it is not as dark but being our wedding the first one of the year, they did not put up the extra lights that are normally there. Our caterer even had to pull her car up to the reception area and shine her car lights so her staff could see. When it was time to do the cake cutting, boquet toss, garter toss, and sending of the newly weds Laura Lynn was no where to be found to coordinate. The grooms mother found her inside the house talking with a friend trying to keep warm since it did get chilly that night. The bride (myself), my matron of honor and the mother of the bride had to coordinate everything at the reception. For paying as much money we did I feel that the bridal party should not have had to worry about all of that. We also had to ask her to turn on the lights in the parking lot because our guest were using phones as flash lights to find there car. We were also told that the guest as they came in would be directed through the house in order to sign the guest book and leave the gifts in the wagon on the front porch. Due to nobody directed them into the house I had many peope come up to me asking where they were suppose to leave the gifts. Also most people did not get the sign our guest book. Our guest book was fingerprint tree that my sister had drawn and only the wedding party was able to sign it. The mother of the bride also saw Laura Lynn showing the house and land to a potential customer during our wedding. That was on our dime and very unprofessional. This venue would be a great place if they had a better coordinator. Reviewed on 22-04-2015
Katie Lumpkin(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-05-2013 Our wedding was amazing!! Sweet Home is a beautiful and affordable venue. So glad we chose it! \r\rBrides, this venue is all outdoors. They do have tents, but do not choose this venue if you'll be upset if it rains. Reviewed on 04-06-2013
Ashton Hall(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-05-2012 If you are looking for a beautiful outdoor wedding then Sweet Home Plantation is a wonderful place to consider. I got married here in May and it was absolutely gorgeous. The service was great. They were very accommodating and friendly. The house was a great place for the family to hang out in the air conditioning as they waited for pictures. Overall, this is a wonderful venue for the price. Reviewed on 13-06-2012
Melissa Hursey(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-05-2011 I LOVE this venue. My wedding was simple, outdoors and georgous! The atmosphere there is both relaxed and vibrant. Bobbie, the manager there will do everything in her power to create the wedding you want and the beautiful outdoor areas are easy to feel good in! Reviewed on 07-06-2011
Emilie Klein(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-04-2008 Sweet Home Plantation is an authentic historic home with gorgeous grounds. The photo opportunities were endless-- in front of the house inside the house in front of trees covered in Spanish moss in front of the dogwood trees in either of the gazebos under the trellis in front of the pond by the historic log homes...Bobbie the on-site coordinator has a very calming presence but is still organized. The package prices were shockingly low but it didn't seem like a bargain wedding. Reviewed on 10-05-2010
