TACS Stables & Horse Farm is a family-owned wedding venue in Hawthorn Woods, IL. Situated just off Route 176, only 40 miles from Chicago, this magnificent 20-acre property has everything you need to embrace a completely different mindset and enjoy a day of magic and romance you’ll never forget! TACS Stables & Horse Farm boasts a rustic chic vibe for the perfect combination of elegance and fun. The venue offers a choice of fabulous event spaces for your wedding ceremony and reception. The spectacular clubhouse is the main event space. It measures 4,000 square feet, and its high ceiling gives the building a bright, spacious feel. There’s a viewing area where you and your guests can watch the horses being put through their paces in the adjoining indoor riding area. There’s also a large game room, restrooms, showers, and a two-car garage. Outside, you’ll find three ponds, an outdoor arena, a large deck, a 30-foot-tall furnished teepee, two separate areas for bonfires, multiple paddocks for horse turnout, a riding track along the perimeter, and a little barn. TACS Stables & Horse Farm is home to a pig named Pumbaa, cows, goats, donkeys, a peacock, ducks, swans, turkeys, and chickens, and there are farm-fresh eggs every day! When we look back at the memories of our wedding day, the thing that stands out the most is the venue that we chose. My husband & I share a BIG love for western ski towns like Aspen, Telluride, & Jackson Hole. We mulled over the idea of a destination, ranch style wedding. Ultimately, with our midwestern roots, & our shared value of our families we decided that staying close to home was the best decision for us & for our guests. We shared our thoughts with our wedding planner, & with that she introduced us to TACS Stables. Within 5 minutes of touring the property grounds, our minds were made up that this was the perfect venue for us. Located just 44 miles from downtown Chicago, the 20 acre property offers stunning scenic views everywhere you look. The flexibility & the willingness of the TACS owners & staff, allowed us to create a bespoke experience for us & our guests. We selected a water facing view for our intimate ceremony, & then our guests were welcomed into the beautifully renovated lodge style club house for passed hors d'oeuvres & cocktails. Our guests enjoyed roaming the grounds, which included checking out the cozy decorated teepee & meeting the friendly resident farm animals. Because we chose TACS as our venue, we are able to work with our wedding planner, NSWE Events, to access her network of top tier vendors to bring in our custom selections of food, entertainment, tenting & more. Our reception was held just outside of the clubhouse, under an exquisitely decorated sailcloth tent. The backdrop of the golden setting sun, into the star filled night sky was absolutely perfect! If I could recommend a venue for any big events that you may find yourself planning, I would highly recommend TACS Stables every single time!

Wedding Date 13-08-2022
What a wonderful find this turned out to be! I think our was the first wedding there in August of 2022. Candice and her husband Al must be natural hosts, because this venue reflects a comfortable – yet elegant – atmosphere. The décor and cleanliness are outstanding! Little touches throughout add interest – and great photo ops! Our wedding was small at 68 people, and we fit comfortably in the club house with room for dancing! Candice was so easy to deal with and accommodating! Onsite visit with the emcee? No problem! Using my personal catering preference? She was willing to vet them! Multiple emails from the MOB as the date got closer? Not to worry! EVERYONE enjoyed the relaxed and fun atmosphere… But I enjoyed it most of all because they made it so easy to pull everything together. Sergio and his team executed the plan with precision and care, and I am deeply indebted to Candice, Al, Sergio and the rest of the team for making this a truly memorable event for us!

Tacs Stables was an amazing place to celebrate our wedding reception! The property is so unique because it has both indoor and outdoor spaces to entertain guests. The steps leading down to the pond was excellent for wedding photos. The main dining space perfectly accommodated our guests for dinner and dancing. We loved the separate room for the wedding couple to relax upstairs before making a grand entrance down their staircase. Everything was so memorable!

Candice & Al Stepan (Owner) TACS is owned by the Stepan’s made up of Team Al, Candice, and Spencer. A family of three who live in Kenilworth, Illinois. Al Stepan was raised in the neighboring town of Winnetka and continues to put his heart and soul into the community. Candice was born and raised in Colorado, an avid horseback rider and considers TACS Stables her happy place where she spends the majority of her time. Together Al and Candice have a 15 year old son.
