Where do I even begin with this review of what became an absolute disaster from just days after signing the contract with Tahoe Mountain Club? My fiance and I could not have picked a worse venue to work with and I'm hoping this review will influence whoever reads this to STAY AWAY AT ALL COSTS. The lying and deflecting came early and often as they could never seem to give a straight answer with anything regarding the planning of our wedding in Summer of 2023. Piggy backing off the previous 1 Star review, they were well aware they were not going to have their renovated venue done in time for our wedding but sold it to us anyway, and they counted on a permit they knew was not a slam dunk for the backup venue. This was an unbelievable waste of time and money that we lost due to their incompetence and disingenuous business behavior. It starts at the top with Paradigm8 Principal Hayes Paryzbok (Owner of Tahoe Mountain Club). You would think someone with his title would know how to operate a business and take on blame when appropriate, yet he and his team turned to blaming the Town of Truckee. After all of the BS we went through for 6+ months, they had the gall to let us know they were doing us a big favor by refunding our money after cancelling two wedding venues three months before our wedding date. I will finish of this review by advising all couples, please find another venue. Reviewed on 17-05-2023
Jennifer Garnaas(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-07-2023 If I could give 0 stars, I would. Tahoe Mountain Club (TMC) lied to and screwed over the 20 couples they booked 2023 weddings with. My fiance & I signed a contract in April ‘22 to have our wedding with TMC in July ‘23 at their Old Greenwood House venue. Old Greenwood House was a new build that they guaranteed to us would be ready by April ‘23 - in plenty of time for our July '23 wedding. They didn't tell us until Jan ’23 that they actually hadn't started construction yet and we would have to move to Gray's Crossing (the other venue they manage). We were upset but accepted that we would get married at Gray’s Crossing instead. (We found out later they lied about the reasoning behind the construction delay - they said that the Town of Truckee was holding up their permits, but I reached out to the Town and they actually did approve the permits on Sept 26 ‘22. The real reason TMC hadn’t started building was that they hadn't secured financing and still haven't as of Feb 21 ’23.)Then, a couple weeks later in Feb ‘23, we were told that TMC never actually had the required permits to host ANY events that use amplified sound at Gray’s Crossing. TMC was fully & completely aware that they did not have these permits when they signed into this contract with us (and the 19 other couples they scheduled weddings with), but still promised us in our contracts that we would be able to have amplified sound at our event despite knowing they were not legally allowed to.TMC was fully aware since at least April ‘21 that it was very likely they would not be granted the 2023 permits to have amplified sound on their property, as they have been included in all the Town of Truckee’s communications on the matter for at least the past 5 years and they are fully aware of the complaints from the community calling for them to not be allowed to have amplified sound on their property going forward. (I have written a more detailed post that links all of these docs, in case you are interested/need proof: https://www.reddit.com/r/wedding/comments/11gefao/calling_all_2023_tahoe_mountain_club_bridesgrooms/)For us, amplified sound is an essential part of a wedding (think toasts, speeches, dancing, the DJ, getting mic’d up for your vows, ceremony music, etc). Non-amplified sound at a 150 person wedding is just a nonstarter for us (I understand this might not be the case for every couple - but I think this is the case for most). No DJ/band at a wedding = a fancy, quiet, very expensive dinner.TMC entered into a contract with us in bad faith and under false pretenses. Now we find ourselves having to cancel with TMC and scramble to find another one on the same date in the same area in less than 5 months because of their disingenuous manner of conducting business. We are stuck with and committed to our date & location as we have booked all our other vendors already and many nonrefundable deposits have been made. Save the dates had already been sent and many of our guests have already booked accommodations.Like I said, I’m sure there are couples out there who don’t need music/amplified sound at their wedding and who this wouldn’t bother. But it’s a big deal for us, and the fact that TMC didn’t disclose this possibility to us until it was already set in stone and less than 5 months from our date is super uncool & messed up.If my experience can warn away at least 1 unsuspecting couple from booking their wedding here, then I consider that a win. Laura was fantastic to work with throughout the planning process and made sure all the details were covered and our day ran smoothly. The event flowed so effortlessly and smoothly and the staff was incredibly friendly. No one ever waited in a long bar line (they had 3 bartenders for our event of a little over 100 guests) and more than enough wait staff to get the plated meal out to everyone in a very timely manner. And the food…. The chef is amazing and our surf and turf dinner was curated perfectly. Still dreaming about this awesome day and so grateful to all of the people who made it happen. I had a hard time finding a venue in Tahoe that wasn't outrageously expensive, but also had the classy vibe I was looking for. PJ's hit the nail on the head and exceeded expectations in every way. The food was a huge highlight - it's so difficult to get wedding food right, especially for 160 people. The food was honestly amazing. We had so many people coming up to us to tell us how good it was. Laura and her events team were also awesome - everything ran smoothly, on time, and my husband and I felt like royalty. Working with Dana was a dream - she was so communicative, and responded quickly to all of our questions along the way. The venue was absolutely stunning, and we heard again and again from our guests that it was one of the best wedding venues they've ever been to. We loved how easy it was for guests to walk from the ceremony on the lawn to the restaurant for the reception. The whole experience was very smooth, and we loved how we were able to customize our table lay out with a head table at the top of the dance floor, instead of a sweetheart table. From the tables surrounding the large dance floor under the tree with lights to the large fire pit, everything felt beautiful and cozy at the same time. The team working there was easy to work with and continually looked for ways to improve our experience. One aspect that stood out to our guest was how good the food was at the venue. The chicken (yes chicken) even made the best mans speech. Dana was able to work with all our vendors and helped us with our videographer who wasn't on the recommended vendor list. It was great to see the venue and our photographer work together so well. That comes in handy when you try and get a group shop by having her stand on top of the bar!If you're looking for a great option, with good people, look no further than Tahoe Mountain Club - you won't regret it. Dana was a joy to work with from start to finish, and was so patient with us throughout every question, change and request. The staff during the wedding were fantastic as well! Cat Soriano(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-06-2019 The Alpine Club was a last minute afterparty location for our wedding and it did not disappoint! We got married at the Zephyr Lodge at Northstar and our original location closed a few month prior to our wedding. Our contact arranged 2 locations we could choose from that would honor our prior contract, and the Alpine Club was the clear choice (I don't know how their normal cost is). It was easy for our guests to find after riding down the gondola on the opposite side of the Village, the room was large with a fireplace and plenty of seating for small groups to gather, sit and relax. The drinks were good, we opted to have guests buy their own drinks, and the bartenders were friendly and low key. We chose quesadillas as a snack because it is my husbands favorite, and they left us swap out the steak for chicken, since steak was the dinner. Everyone raved that they are the perfect afterparty food- easy to eat and hit the spot! Thank you Dana and the Alpine Club! Reviewed on 27-06-2019
Danette Lee(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-03-2019 Dana Rivers at the Tahoe Mountain Club was SO fantastic to work with. Not only was she incredibly responsive and responsible, she jumped in to assist me with any other vendors to make sure the event was planned and timed perfectly. Along with Dana, the entire staff at Schaffers Camp was FANTASTIC. Everything was perfectly timed, and everyone was so kind and helpful. I honestly can't say more great things about our wedding experience there... Location-wise, Schaffers Camp is located on one of the mountains at Northstar Resort, and is so beautiful! We wanted a winter wedding in the snow, and luckily, the weather delivered. Our ceremony was outside on a deck, with the reception and party inside. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect wedding. Not only is the space amazing, but the events team (shout out to Dana!) was incredibly helpful and organized. We didn't have an official day-of coordinator (not recommended), but were able to pull it all off with a team of support on our end the efficient, magical staff from PJ's. They have everything down to a science and made things so easy and carefree for us. I am so happy I was able to find this place because it fit mine and my husband's personality so well. Dana was so wonderfully helpful throughout the entire process. She was so professional and patient with all the questions I had, and I had a lot! When we first visited PJ's it was in January and covered in snow but I could still picture how beautiful a wedding would be there. When we visited the second time it was for our menu tasting. It was important to me that I find a place that could have vegan options for me and PJ's definitely delivered. If I had requested it, they would have made the entire menu vegan but I opted for vegetarian with vegan options and the food was delicious! We got so many compliments that the food was not only delicious but also pleasantly unique for a wedding. We had a buffet style of enchiladas with cilantro rice, pesto pasta with vegetables and truffle potatoes, and the best beet salad I will ever eat. Even people who don't typically eat beets enjoyed this salad! The chef and staff did an amazing job!Everything was so well organized and put together exactly how we wanted. If you're thinking about getting married or even just dining in Truckee, PJ's is absolutely worth checking out. We could not have picked a better venue if we had to do this all over again. Morgan Jacinto(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-09-2017 We got married at PJs on September 30, 2017 and it couldn't have been more perfect. Not only was the weather great the venue set up was beautiful. This venue does not need a lot of decor, in my opinion less is more. I wanted our florals to only enhance the natural beauty this venue and scenery provided. Dana Brooks is amazing. Not only is she extremely responsive and answers all of your questions and even brings up points you may have not even thought of but she is the sweetest most down to earth person you will meet. Little details that meant the most, she had drinks ready in each of the bridal party lounge areas, she brought us appetizers and drinks while we were taking family portraits after the ceremony, and she had her staff bring us plates of food so we could eat immediately and not stand in the buffet line. Few tips: go over your banquet event orders (BEOs) over the phone with Dana if you can't meet in person so you do not miss anything. This is really important if you are new to event planning world. Do not be afraid to tweak the food recipes to fit your taste buds! The Chef is so nice to work with. If you have 180 guests or more get the bigger dance floor, if you know your guests will be dancing and extra heaters (if your planning a fall wedding). I think the best part about working with Dana and PJs is even when we had a little mix up at the bar they were willing to work with us to get the final bill discrepancy straightened out. We will continue to go back to PJs every year to eat at the grill and enjoy this hidden gem in Truckee! Reviewed on 13-12-2017

To start, Dana, was amazing to work with throughout the entire process, especially to a couple that was planning our wedding from out of state. To start, when we set up our initial appointment to see the venue, my stepsister Facetimed us throughout the entire walk through as we were in KY. I am sure it was a bit awkward for Dana to be talking to us on FT, but she was very professional and was super nice, answering all of our questions. When we came in town for the tasting, she had everything ready to go and all I can say is the food we selected was beyond AMAZING! She sat with us and helped give us ideas about the set up for the wedding since we were having our ceremony across the walkway on their open green space. Leading up to the wedding date, she was always available for questions and helped us figure out how to make the most out of our F&B cost. And now to the day of - I couldn't have asked for a more amazing venue and staff. From the bridal retreat, to the gorgeous backdrop during the ceremony and reception, it was everything a bride could ask for! I have had so many of our guest tell us what an amazing venue it was and the food, along with the staff, was out of this world! I have to say that their mac and cheese was the best I have ever had and if I could have had two more plates of it, I would have :) If you are looking for an amazing wedding venue, with great food, and great service - PJ's is the place to have it!
