The indoor venue space was also great, the huge windows look great around sunset and the stage and spacing is great. Also, we opened the butterfly house which was also a big hit! There were some issues with TDG's exclusive caterer suddently closing their doors on 12/31/21, but after Teresa got fully onboarded to TDG and settled it went very well. As May came around, I kept contacting Monica, which was helpful and communicative but somehow Teresa took over and she did not try to be very accomodating with anything I was asking her. She never once tried to call me to see what I needed and what she could do to get me to book. Everything was email, which is fine but she had zero personality even through email. I even told her my photographer was a part of the discovery gardens membership and she denied any discount because they were giving no discounts in December. I was really excited but after terrible customer service, I decided to go with a different venue that was way more friendly and accomodating and that actually fit the number of guests I needed (even after 50%) capacity. My guests raved about my wedding being the most beautiful wedding they had ever been to! After getting engaged I looked at venues all over Denton and Dallas (my parents live in Denton) and the starting prices for just the venue were $7000-10,000 for most venues, and many venues require you to use their caterer. With all the linens, chair and table rentals, and coordination cost us a little over $5000. We even rented the butterfly house for cocktail hour for our guests! The venue rental also includes photography fees for engagement and bridal portraits once you book the wedding date. On the day of the wedding we were able to use the bridal suite which was spacious enough for 8 people plus my makeup and hair artist, and the groom and groomsmen were able to use the canopy room to relax and get ready beforehand. Tammy was amazing with all the planning details during the meetings before the wedding, and even helped us set up our DIY decor on the day. Sonja was our day of coordinator and she made sure everyone in the family knew what was going on during the rehearsal and the day of (which is a feat considering the number of people). She adjusted the timeline on the day of as several guests were late- making sure everyone was seated before we started the processional. Both ladies did a wonderful job of helping everything go smoothly and fixing the things that went wrong! They were truly invested in making sure everything went perfect for my day and I know they genuinely wanted me to be happy. The venue is absolutely beautiful & the gardens make a great backdrop for photos. It rained all weekend of my wedding so literally the day before my wedding, I moved my garden ceremony into the Grand Hall-- (which was still beautiful!) & Tammy helped me through the whole process. She was SUCH A GOD SEND. She even went as far as calling a vendor they frequently work with on my behalf HERSELF to have piping and draping set up in the hall. On the day of my wedding, she made sure everything was taken care of and I had no idea she was working SO HARD behind the scenes until the week after my wedding when my mom and I were running through the wedding. I knew I was in good hands, but had no idea the amount of attention to detail she went into to make sure my day was exactly what I wanted. I had a vendor that I had contracted be disrespectful and inconsiderate to the venue and their rules and Tammy continued to be kind and helpful towards me despite that. Further, I unfortunately planned my reception at a different venue and I only MORE appreciate that the TDG is SUPER fair and wont nickel and dime you to death. Tammy was so great! I was a stressed out bride! I thought everything was going wrong. The bridesmaids, the food, the fountain, the weather.. you name it, but she helped me every step of the way and reminded me that everything will work out as it should. Everything came together perfectly. We used sugar city for our linens, tables and chairs and it was the very best idea out of everything. We did anticipate using the fountain but it was broken so we planned to use the circular lawn then it rained lol. I should’ve known it would have because it stormed the night my husband proposed. We luckily had the option of flipping the room. We held the ceremony on stage with all the chairs set up and while we took all of our wedding photos, they flipped our room while the guests walked the butterfly house at no charge. Hilary Marschik(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-06-2018 My DH and I got married at Texas Discovery Gardens and had Sugar City Celebrations as our linens/cake vendor and we couldn't have asked more for our wedding! We first started considering Texas Discovery Gardens when we realized just how expensive wedding venues can be. We looked at everything from hotels, to the arboretum, to nice restaurants, but so many of them either had really high spending minimums (I'm talking like $30K food and beverage -that was our entire budget!) or you had to figure out all of the tiny logistics (your own tables, linens, etc.) As we looked at Texas Discovery Gardens more and more we really liked the idea of having a pretty backdrop, but still be indoors (our wedding was at the beginning of June so that meant lots of mosquitoes), and we loved the fact that there were things that the children could do when they got bored of sitting around (we have a lot of children under 14 in our extended family, and they all loved seeing the bug collection, the butterfly house, and for the teens there were so many opportunities for selfies). We never initially imagined such a place for our wedding, but it really was just perfect.Everything also went as smoothly as it could, from the first time we inquired about hosting our wedding at the Gardens to the clean up at the end of the wedding night. Tammy, the reception coordinator, was always so responsive to my questions and suggestions, which was especially helpful since we actually planned the entire wedding out of state (DH and I live in D.C. But got married in Dallas because my family is there). Even though we were only able to visit twice in-person before the wedding week, sugar city was one of the easiest vendors we worked with. Side note: the cakes from Sugar City are absolutely DELICIOUS. DH didn't care for much when it came to the wedding reception details, but the cake was one of them (he worked at a reception hall before so he was familiar with bad wedding cakes). His biggest fear for that day was having a dry, cardboard-tasting cake, but when we had our first taste of their sample cake, he was completely reassured. We had their champagne cake as a sample and ultimately decided to go with other flavors since we didn't want to be \"too cliche\ Reviewed on 16-08-2018

Amazing wedding venue! So glad we chose this facility as the place to hold my daughter's wedding in December of 2015! With the beautiful, as well as unique setting, and Carron Short there to assist in planning & execution, the evening went off without a hitch. My only regret was not choosing Sugar City Sweets as the caterer for the meal. Their service as waitstaff and bar service was impeccable. Also,Sugar City provided our flowers and centerpieces, which were elegant, as well as appetizers and table linens chairs, etc. There are many different price points for each item through Sugar City Sweets and Carron presented all of these to us. This company provide s everything from flowers to cakes and prices were competitive. Carron also met with us several times before final decisions had to be made and had an amazing knack for figuring out my daughter's style, our priorities and where we could cut back in order to spend more on the items that were important to us. We chose not to hire a wedding planner to economize, and ended up hiring Carron for the day of the event. In retrospect I probably would have benefited to have her, via Sugar City Sweets engaged as a planner. I highly recommend having your next event here and you will be so happy you did! Reviewed on 30-08-2015
Lauren Knox(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-05-2015 I used Texas Discovery Gardens venue for my wedding this June and I have mixed feelings with our experience. Tammy and Carron were very nice and help plan the special day by allowing flexible meeting times and allowing us to roam the gardens with photographer to plan for the big day. Unfortunately weather was very bad this year and it rain on our special day right before the ceremony but Tammy was quick to act and set up the ceremony from outside to inside delaying only about 15 minutes. I do however must complain about the catering staff of Sugar Sweets, the onsite catering company. I was told by many of my family and friends that they were rude and acted like they obviously did not want to be there. they rushed our service even though we told Tammy ahead of time that we changed the \"timeline\" and told that was perfectly fine. We ran out of plates for food even though I had less people show up than quoted and was told that we had to go to Walmart to get more even though plates and utensils were apart of our package. Our quest were slow to move outside at the end of the event to do the \"send off\" but it was only less than fifteen min. past the time to do so (mind our ceremony started late because of rain). A woman told my mom that we need to get out of venue because \"the staff wanted to leave\". My husband and I have been working in the service industry for over a decade and very displeased with the attitude of the staff. If you don't care about the service of others then don't work in the industry. Not only was this our Wedding day but also a reunion because we moved out of state two years ago and hadn't seen many of our friends and family since. We were trying to celebrate but the staff seemed to just want us out from the beginning. Jamie Hatley(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-11-2014 Our wedding was incredibly picturesque and I was so please with how everything looked. Tammy, the coordinator was very nice and always quick to respond to my emails, answering all my seemingly annoying bride questions. The only thing I was unhappy with was the break-down/clean up situation. I over stated the price on the venue a little because they are now charging close to $1,000 for break down and clean up of the venue, unless you find someone else to do it cheaper. I would almost rather them include this in the price of the venue so that the bride doesn't have to worry about it. It's something new they have started, though, so I'm sure there are kinks to be worked out. Overall, a beautiful venue for a great price! We enjoyed our experience here! Reviewed on 19-11-2014
Sonya Hopkins(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-09-2014 We had our ceremony in the canopy room at the butterfly house at Texas Discovery Gardens. The bridal suite was awesome and made everything easier and more convenient. The Canopy room was set up perfectly and our entire ceremony was Epically Awesome!!! Even The Joker made an appearance Lol! Tammy was so incredibly helpful through the entire process from booking to the day of. She checked on us and made sure our day went perfectly without any issues. Definitely one of the best places to have your ceremony, if not your whole wedding!!! We chose to do our reception at another location so my band could play as loud and as long as they wanted (most people don't end up having a 7 hour reception LOL!). The whole day was absolutely amazing from start to finish!! Thank you Tammy and Thank you Texas Discovery Gardens for making our day as I said before, Epically Awesome!!! Reviewed on 17-09-2014

I cannot say enough about Tammy and Carron and the venue itself. We had an outdoor ceremony on the Circular Lawn, cocktail hour on the Veranda, and the reception inside Grand Hall. Tammy was great to work with prior to the event and the day of the event. We also used Sugar City Sweets for setup and she was fabulous. Anytime we wanted to go see the venue, the front staff was very friendly to let us roam with our photographer, our DJ, videographer, etc. This location is a gem in Dallas and we are so thankful to have had our wedding here. CHRISTIN COLDEN(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-06-2013 This has got to be Dallas' best kept secret! If you are looking for a garden wedding with a reception indoors and another popular Dallas garden spot is just absurdly expensive, COME HERE! \r\rWe were able to have the wedding of our dreams here at Texas Discovery Gardens without sacrificing a thing! The gardens are lush and green with a beautiful fountain as your backdrop and the reception hall has floor to ceiling windows that overlook the gardens! Plus, unlike some venues, TDG only hosts one wedding per night! \r\rThe service was great; Tammy and Cathy are very sweet ladies and will help you with anything you need! And the value is beyond fabulous! You get a beautiful venue for about a third of the cost of another garden in Dallas. The gardens and reception hall are blank canvases that you can decorate with your own tastes. We had a Mexican-themed wedding and our color choices and decorations just looked stunning here. Our guests are still gushing about how beautiful our wedding was and I can't help but think that it is because of our venue!\r\rI gave it only 4 stars on quality because the bride's room is quite small and hot and there is no groom's room. We all got ready at a nearby hotel but hung out in the bride's room and Canopy Room before hand. Also, the bathrooms are a bit outdated. BUT!!!!!!!!!! I honestly did not mind those factors.\r\rThe evening was BEAUTIFUL and I would gladly do it again! I wouldn't change our venue for the world and would be MORE THAN HAPPY to recommend this venue who wants a lovely garden wedding without paying ridiculous prices! They host one heck of a wedding! It was a perfect evening! Reviewed on 20-07-2013
MARCUS MORGAN(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-03-2013 My \"Husband\" located and selected the Texas Discovery Gardens, as our venue choice. after viewing and meeting Tammy the venue coordinator I was sold. She was amazing from the start and did everything she could to help me, being that I started off not having any help. I could email her in the late hours and she would respond back. Tell me that's not awesome. Even after he getting sick and on vacation. she was there to make my planning as unstressful as possible. she assisted me in ways over and beyond her job description! she stayed to make sure all ran smoothly. So happy I worked with Tammy. Gotta Love Her :)\r\rI loved the fact you can make the venue your own. We did our nuptials 3/15/13 at 6:00 in the Grand Alley Garden it was breathtaking, the flowers had just begun to bloom. The weather was perfect and the reception followed in the Grand Hall where the ceiling to floor windows are gorgeous. TDG is a great photogenic place with lots of details. the only incident that happened on our big day was the AC where the guys dressed was out. The only thing I wish was different - was that everything was a separate charge from the tables, chairs, extra hours outside catering fee etc. Just keep that in mind... I wished it was a set price and or package option available. I loved the bridal suite and Tammy was the Icing on the Cake. Overall it's a great venue and I would recommend it...\r\r\rThank you Tammy\rXoXo ,:) Reviewed on 14-07-2013
Taylor Meek(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 31-05-2013 Tammy at Texas Discovery Gardens did a great job at helping me coordinate everything for our wedding. There are several beautiful garden options to have your ceremony and the Grand Hall is big enough to have a large reception and a dance floor. The only down side is that their rental coordinators usually only respond to emails or voice mails on Thursdays or Fridays. Another down side is you have to pay for each table and chair you use for the reception and also you have to bring in your own table cloths, so keep this in mind. They did everything they could to help make our day perfect and to get our deposit back! Definitely would recommend this place! Reviewed on 26-06-2013
Angela Fleider(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-09-2012 The gardens make such a gorgeous setting for a wedding. Unfortunately, I didn't get to use them much since it rained, but we were able to move the ceremony into the Grand Hall and everything worked out beautifully. The guests enjoyed the floor to ceiling windows, and had a great time touring the butterfly house.\rThe only problem we had is that there was a loud concert outside, and they were doing sound checks during our ceremony (we were not informed that there would be a concert on our wedding day!). It turned out not to be a problem, since we were inside, and the hall is fairly well soundproofed - I wasn't aware of the issue until the groom and I went outside to take some umbrella pictures. But if it hadn't rained, the noise levels outside could have been a disaster.\rSo, I would recommend the venue, but be careful to check the concert schedules. Reviewed on 13-11-2012

Emily S(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-04-2018 I was a Summer 2012 bride, and after searching for a venue that would give me a garden wedding without being outdoors AND that was affordable, looked into Texas Discovery Gardens at the recommendation of my father.\rOur wedding was so beautiful and the 180 degree windows they have in the Grand Hall are stunning. During cocktail hour, we also had the butterfly house rented out for our guests to go through. I received so many compliments on the butterfly house! It was a fun way to entertain our guests while the room was being flipped, since our ceremony and reception were in the same room. I highly recommend this! \rI also recommend using the in-house wedding coordination service of Sugar City Sweets, as they took care of everything, minus catering, photography and DJ service for the wedding day! Puru No(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-04-2012 If you are wanting a picturesque garden ceremony and a beautiful setting for a reception, look no further! I think that since the venue is located in Fair Park, it is often missed. This place is so gorgeous, affordable, and it really is an oasis in Dallas. It was a bit hard to get a hold of the rental department at times but that really didn't matter because we had the most beautiful wedding we could have ever dreamed of at the Texas Discovery Gardens.
