Located in San Antonio, TX, 1850 Settlement is a unique wedding venue based in a charming countryside setting. This venue allows couples to step back in time and celebrate their wedding day. With beautiful views of the surrounding landscape and green fields, the natural setting is the perfect location for a couple seeking a rustic and charismatic celebration.
The origins of this beautiful barn setting date back to the 1800s, with the original style and character of the building still shining through today. With the original Homestead and the Settlement Stagecoach Station still standing on the grounds, 1850 Settlement has an unlimited capacity for its outdoor area. The spacious lawns are suitable for ceremonies, cocktail receptions, and yard games. The outdoor fire pit and lounge seating area mean that guests can relax under the ground’s impressive oak trees. Soft, ambient lighting throughout the venue creates an intimate and romantic atmosphere for couples to celebrate their love. The large barn can accommodate 300 guests for a seated dinner and 250 guests for a buffet and the open floor plan of the indoor area means that many layouts can be arranged on the wedding day.
There is sufficient stage space for a band, DJ, or other performers as well as a catering preparation area and wedding party’s quarters. The owners of 1850 Settlement are happy to advise the couple about catering, bartending, and other vendor recommendations that may be needed on the day. They will also supply tables, chairs, and accent furniture for the ceremony and reception. The team at 1850 Settlement would be delighted to discuss your dream wedding expectations ahead of the big day.
Kendall B(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-01-2023 At the 1850 settlement my event was great, everything was handled perfectly and I couldn’t have asked for better. The event was a breeze, the new management has brought so many new improvements and have made the place even more gorgeous than before. Management was so helpful with everything and having my wedding at the beautiful settlement made it all the better. Me and my husband have 2 very different aesthetics, and the management of the 1850 settlement helped make it a breeze to mix both of our styles and make our wedding even more perfect and beautiful. Everyone made the whole process stress free ,as much as getting and planning a wedding gets. I will recommend everyone to come to the 1850 settlement for their events or weddings. Jordyn Jureczki(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-06-2022 BRIDES STAY AWAY!!! Don’t be fooled by the beautiful venue, the staff will ruin your evening! The staff here is a rotating door, and no one will accept responsibility for their actions. When I arrived on the day of my wedding, no chairs outside were set up. The staff claimed they didn’t know there was a wedding. The staff was giving tours RIGHT UP UNTIL my ceremony started!!! At the end of the evening the awful woman that was working there stated I had to be out immediately or I would lose my deposit. When my mother showed her our contract, stating we had an additional hour to clean up, she stated “that sounds like an old manager thing” and walked away. Now no one will return our calls regarding getting our deposit back. My wedding was absolutely beautiful, thanks to my wonderful family, however the staff at the 1850 Settlement is the rudest and most awful people I have ever had the displeasure of working with. Audi Moczygemba(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-06-2022 This was an amazing venue. It has a unique charm that impresses anyone and everyone. I am from the area and it has that classic Texas Hill Country scenic landscape. The variety of small buildings look like museums tucked away in a wedding venue, which brings a very serene and historical feel to the place. Older folks were reminded of dances in old barns, and younger guests were able to run and play outside. There is as much space for dancing as you will allow. And the huge oak tree is a perfect, and amazingly solemn spot to start your life together. They were kind enough to allow us to take our engagement pictures there and I can’t recommend that enough! I am so glad we did, because we could have spent our entire wedding just taking advantage of this gorgeous backdrop. Everyone here was easy to work with and there was help on hand all night to address anything that we would have needed on the property. They helped during the planning process to give advice and recommendations based on their experiences, and hosted multiple on location open house events to showcase their recommended vendors.Thank you all so much, this venue made our day truly special. Rebecca Gutierrez(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-04-2021 This place is a hidden gem in San Antonio. We were going for a rustic theme, but didn't want to leave San Antonio. Where do I start. There is so much to do on site. The actual venue itself is so breath taking. Guests can entertain themselves touring the settlement, or feeding the donkeys, or playing outdoors games, or even starting a fire to make s'mores. Melissa was so helpful and patient throughout the whole process. Our guests LOVED the venue, we received so many compliments. Hopefully I am back for future weddings. Reviewed on 17-04-2021
Josh McClellon(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-03-2022 Ignored the bad reviews from just a few months ago that clearly noted how poor this venue is about communicating with perspective customers. They don't want your business, they don't want your money, and they don't care about wasting your time. DONT DO IT!Our experience was as follows: we called and spoke with Melissa Watts, who is the Venue Manager, about setting up a tour. Melissa proposed a date and time for us to come out and we agreed to it. In the days leading up to our tour, no confirm call or email was received, but we chose to proceed as scheduled. Due to traffic on 281, we were running behind by about 5 minutes so we text Melissa to let her know we were delayed; no reply. We arrived; the gates were closed. We called Melissa; no answer. Left a message; days later, still no call back. Don't be like us, trust me, it's not worth sitting in traffic both directions. Reviewed on 20-03-2021
Kara Ploetz(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 31-12-2020 Wow! This venue was incredible. Melissa was helpful throughout the entire process and worked with us to make sure we had the most perfect day. All the guests raved about how cool and different the barn was and that they had never attended a reception in a place like that before (a lot of out of town guests). It was the best decision to book them for our NYE wedding. Reviewed on 04-01-2021

Melissa is so wonderful and understanding. It is not easy planning a wedding during a pandemic, but she made it smooth. She even gave us a bonus hour on top of letting us reschedule our big day. Andrea Lee(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-10-2018 If I could give 10 stars to this venue, I would. I cannot tell you how wonderful it was working with The Settlement, and especially with their new manager, Anna. The management changed shortly before our wedding and I was w bit nervous that Anna wouldn’t know what was going on. I could not have been more wrong. She went above and beyond to make sure everything went as planned. She helped find vendors when some of ours fell through, she set up all day with us, and she was an absolute joy the entire time. We had multiple vendors on site, s’mores at the bonfire, and we even had a Ferris wheel. The Settlement was the perfect location and size and I think they’ve found their perfect manager. Anna, Ben and I cannot thank you enough for making sure our wedding went as planned. I would recommend The Settlement and working with Anna to anyone looking for the best outdoor, rustic, barn wedding venue in Texas! Reviewed on 30-10-2018
K P(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-04-2017 ***BEWARE*** I had my wedding here back in April and it was the worst experience dealing with management. 2 months before my wedding they fired the manager (who I had been dealing with the whole time) so I was having to deal with the owners who knew NOTHING about my wedding. I had spent a couple hours out of my day one day to fill out my floor plan that was supposed to be set up for me when we got there. The day we went to set up and NOTHING was done. There were WAY too many tables and chairs in the barn so my bridesmaids and I had to take them all down and haul them to the back which took about 2 hours .. and trust me , they are HEAVY ! My dad had built a bar for the reception barn and an entry to my outside ceremony made out of old doors. My wedding day, the new manager (this was her first day) and my dad agreed on them buying the bar for $250 and said that they wanted to keep the doors for a couple weeks to see if they had any interest in them and that if they did they would purchase them. At the end of the night the people we hired to clean up were kicked out 30 minutes prior to when they were supposed to be out and were told that there was no event the next day so they could come back the next day. Well, when we came back the next day everything was already cleaned up and there was no mention of ANY problems what so ever. A couple months go by and my dad expressed his concern to me that he had not yet received his deposit back. I called the manager and she said she needed to figure it out because I was her first wedding. Another month and a half went by and still nothing. I messaged them on Facebook , saw that they had “read” it so messaged them again the next day and THEY BLOCKED ME!!! After sending numerous emails after that they FINALLY responded and said that there was supposedly a broken chair in the bridal suite (why would you put a brittle broken chair in there for people to sit on then ?!) which also supposedly cost more than the $500 deposit! Ha ... yeah ooookay! They lied about the doors and said there was never an agreement to leave them there which was said to NUMEROUS people including my brother in law the day after the wedding when he went to finish cleaning up for us and their email response to me getting them back was a simple “per your contract you had 24 hours to get everything off our property”. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! They also tried to say I owed them money for the chandeliers, but I gave the owner cash for them that night. I FINALLY got them to agree to pay for the bar and waited and had to be on them constantly for that payment another month and a half. Y’all, this place is NOT worth the hassle! I would strongly suggest to steer clear from this place! Not worth the $5500! Reviewed on 25-01-2018
Zachary Cayou(groom)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-03-2019 Absolutely beautiful venue, but I just cannot recommend it as long as the current management is in place. Be careful dealing with them. Reviewed on 23-01-2018
Debbie Gideon(wedding party)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-08-2018 The 1850 Settlement is a beautiful place for a wedding but we don’t recommend it at this time due to the management. We dealt with the property manager exclusively during the months of preparation. We never saw her the weekend of the wedding, even when she said she was going to be there (email). We had an appointment at venue 2 days prior to wedding to practice hanging decorations. The appointment was made verbally and confirmed via email and text and detailed who was to be there, what equipment, and that there was no other conflict at venue at that time. We got to venue and a rehearsal dinner was going on and no staff person was present. The bride’s mother of the other wedding came over and we explained our situation. She was gracious and said they would be finishing soon and then we could come in then. A staff person showed up about 15 minutes later, didn’t know who we were and said we couldn’t be there. When I showed her the correspondence dealing with our appointment, she begrudgingly worked with us. When we got to the venue the morning of the wedding on time, cleaning staff was just finishing cleaning but the tables and chairs had not been set up so our decorating got delayed. No property manager. The staff person did not identify herself until about 30 minutes before wedding. Despite repeated requests to talk to the owner or the property manager, as of to date, we have not received a phone call from either one. The property manager did contact the wedding coordinator after the wedding to make amends with her and the emails contained untruths and deflection of blame (the wedding coordinator copied us into the conversation). When we responded to the emails with documentation (copied previous emails and texts), we still didn’t receive any phone call from the property manager or owner. We had a beautiful wedding and we are very thankful. We just feel this isn’t the way to treat people or a way to do business and felt like we should give future families another perspective to consider. To 1850 Settlement’s credit, they did give back the deposit in a timely manner. Reviewed on 19-10-2017
Megan Giordano(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-06-2018 The 1850 Settlement was the most beautiful place! We could not have asked for a better location for our wedding. If you are looking for Rustic and Country this is the best place the scenery is perfect! It turned out to be a beautiful day after it rained all morning. The staff worked very hard to get the parking situation taken care of. It took awhile because they did not have a plan B but they took care of it for us and got everything figured out. My only complaint about this location was communication. It was hard to get a hold and find out what was going on throughout the planning process and the night of the rehearsal dinner. Other than that is was wonderful. We were able to take engagement pictures which we loved, have an amazing wedding, and enjoy a great night full of fun and memories. Reviewed on 23-04-2017
Joy Zheng(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-04-2017 The settlement circa 1850 or the 1850 settlement was amazing! We had our wedding 4/8/2017 on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon. The Settlement provided the most perfect setting for the guests to enjoy the gorgeous weather of San Antonio. I fell in love with a rustic chic barn wedding when I started planning, and this was the closest barn from San Antonio. Besides the convenience of location, the barn itself is amazing. The details of the original settlement and the record of the newly built barn really sets it apart from any other venues we visited. The owners could not be more friendly. They even bought out a surprise pony named miss Scarlett during our cocktail hour that won the heart of all the guests. Our parents could not be more happy with our wedding and our guest could not stop gushing over how nice and fun the wedding was! Picking this venue was the best decision we made. The best part is the owner is relentless in improving the facilities constantly. By the time we had our wedding, there were so many more nice surprise updates in the facility and the decor that weren't even present when we signed our lease a year earlier! i would definitely recommend this venue and perhaps come back for how renewals in the future!
