We would HIGHLY recommend The Abbey for a wedding venue, especially if the outdoor space is available. Stephanie and the staff were so accommodating and helped make our big night everything we had hoped it would be. From the planning to the actual event, everything went smoothly, and the outdoor tent was everything we had imagined it would be. From the food to the vendor suggestions, we enjoyed all of it!

We stayed here for the mini-moon immediately following our wedding and were underwhelmed. The grounds were nice, but the resort itself wasn't as nice as we expected for a full-blown resort. Our room was fine, but nothing special - king bed, couch and mini-fridge. The restaurants on-site were good, but pretty expensive. We stayed 2 nights. After the first, we asked if the room could be cleaned or if we could at least get a bathroom linen change - they left all the dirty towels on the floor and only replaced the bath towels. The day of checkout, we had booked a late check out (1pm) so that we could unwind a bit after our massage at their spa, and sure enough house-keeping came knocking at 12:40. We felt so flustered and rushed out that we actually left something in the room and had to drive back to the resort later that night to retrieve it (after trying 6 times to get someone on the phone to verify it had been found).The spa was not a very relaxing experience either, especially for the cost. The hot tub, which we enjoyed before and after, was nice. We had a couples massage. The walls were so thin that we could hear the whole conversation and service for the woman in the room next to us. For the first 10 minutes they were talking and running a bath or something for her and we couldn't even hear the spa music over the sound of the water for her tub. When she got out of the tub 15-20 minutes later, there was more talking, tub draining and the patron even accidentally opened the door and started to walk into our room in the middle of our massage. The massage lotion was borderline chilly when applied, so definitely not warmed. The bill for the massage alone was $350 - for that much, I really did expect more.They might do a good job putting on weddings, but we won't be staying there or recommending them as a hotel/resort/spa to anyone.

We are so happy we chose The Abbey Resort for our wedding weekend! Stephanie was amazing from start to finish! She helped us plan our rehearsal, wedding day, and morning after brunch to perfection! She was always so responsive and helpful with every little question we had. She worked so well with our wedding planner and on wedding day we didn't have to think about a thing! The Abbey was so great for our guests and gave them all a great weekend at Lake Geneva. It's a beautiful place to get married right on the lake. The Abbey was absolutely stunning to have our wedding at. Everything about it was perfect. Johnathan was a massive help with us throughout the whole planning process. Could not be more thankful for him and our coordinator. He was always extremely quick with an answer to all of my questions. A bride is always stressed, but I was definitely less stressed because of the team at the Abbey. It all turned out so wonderful. It was my dream place to get married and it turned out better than I could have ever imagined.

Starting from the first call we had with Amelia (Sales Manager in charge of their room blocks) last November while Jonathan (Wedding-Catering Sales Manager) was out of the office, we knew The Abbey was going to be an amazing venue to work with. Her vibrant personality could be felt over the phone, and made me feel like we’d known her for years. This rang true through every single phone call and email we had during our wedding planning, all the way through being onsite for our wedding week. Amelia is friendly, approachable, a great listener, accommodating, timely, and hospitable to name just a few. We genuinely felt like she cared about the success of our wedding, and the experience that our guests were going to have. She went as far as working with the reservations team to ensure we got a suite that was previously reserved when it opened up, customizing our wedding block to fit our guests’ needs, helping ensure guest welcome bags were distributed, and welcoming us for our stay with a gift basket + note. We truly believe we would have ended up having our wedding elsewhere if I hadn’t tracked her down last November. 🙂 Similar to Amelia - from the first time we connected with Jonathan to start planning our wedding, we knew we had something unique in our venue team, and felt confident we’d be in great hands throughout the process. Jonathan always responded to our frequent emails in an extremely timely manner – often right away even when we told him to wait until business hours – and it often felt like he was one step ahead of us. He was extremely helpful with providing his industry expertise, guiding our decision making based on previous experience with weddings / large events, and felt confident that he ultimately had our best interests in mind. He helped us incorporate unique components / details to our wedding that our guests are still talking about, and gave us the sweetest welcome package in our suite! (And recommended we book a great secluded suite!)Jonathan somehow was able to accommodate all of our requests in some way or another, and always made us feel like he was so personally invested. We never could have imagined working with someone so responsive, flexible, detail-oriented, and somehow as passionate about our wedding as we were. His organizational and coordination skills shined exceptionally throughout the last 10 months – even the day after the wedding he was helping us move things out of the ballroom and transferring flowers to brunch. He was truly there every step of the way.We have not been able to stop raving about both Jonathan and Amelia to anyone who asks, and can confidently say we don’t have any negative feedback to share about our experience. Our guests have been the same way and have all been positively commenting on their whole experience. Any challenges that came up throughout our process were always met with solutions, a clear path forward, and their team going above and beyond. Jonathan and Amelia were even there to see us out the Monday after our wedding as we departed, and made not only us but also our parents feel like family.Truly everyone from check-in, Greg at valet, and restaurant + spa staff, to the catering + events teams and management being open to our ever changing requests (+ and keeping up with our large group size) – everyone was so accommodating to work with. We cannot say more positive things about the staff, venue, and our experience!

Leading up to our wedding she communicated with us regularly so we could finalize details, understand payment deadlines, and make sure the weekend was great for our guests. She was also so helpful and patient with all of our questions and changes as we collected RSVPs.During the weekend of our wedding, Stephanie made herself available for anything/everything we needed. I felt very calm knowing she was in control. I could not recommend Stephanie or the Abbey Resort more. The rooms are all newly renovated, the spa is so relaxing and fun with the salt room and various pool/sauna/steam rooms, and there is a lot for guests to do before the wedding (pools, spa, gym, restaurants, within walking distance of a coffee shop).We love you, Stephanie!!

Absolutely STUNNING venue. Jonathan our event manager/ catering manager was seriously the best! His communication, personality and great skill for detail was remarkable. He was with us for the entire process and by our side for the entire wedding day. He even patiently switched me back and forth from my heals to flip flops and back to heals at the very last minute as I changed my mind for the grand entrance.

We had a beautiful wedding week at The Abbey! Stephanie A was an AMAZING coordinator-- she is patient yet assertive where necessary and handles last minute changes with ease! Highly recommend working with her to help make your vision come true!This part of the review is NOT reflective of Stephanie but warrants mentioning. The worst part of our wedding planning with The Abbey was setting up the room block. Amelia was our contact person and she was less than helpful and often times not responsive. She provided partial and conflicting information , and customer satisfaction was by no means at her forefront. Definitely an unnecessary headache and she did not align with the rest of our experience.

Having our wedding at the Abbey was the best decision we could have made! We worked with Stephanie A. throughout the planning process, and she made it extremely easy and manageable. The wedding tasting was very organized, and Stephanie was always available to answer countless emails and phone calls leading up to the wedding day. Stephanie made an effort to understand our vision for the day and made it happen. Everything went perfectly on the day of our wedding thanks to the Abbey staff. They anticipated our needs throughout the day and we had the most amazing wedding day as a result! I would highly recommend the Abbey as a wedding venue.

Having our wedding at the Abbey was the best decision we could have made! We worked with Stephanie A. throughout the planning process, and she made it extremely easy and manageable. The wedding tasting was very organized, and Stephanie was always available to answer countless emails and phone calls leading up to the wedding day. Stephanie made an effort to understand our vision for the day and made it happen. Everything went perfectly on the day of our wedding thanks to the Abbey staff. They anticipated our needs throughout the day and we had the most amazing wedding day as a result! I would highly recommend the Abbey as a wedding venue.

We had a great wedding at The Abbey. Guests raved about the food during and after the wedding (cocktail hour and reception food). Our coordinator Stephanie was great and went above and beyond to help make our wedding vision possible as well as to keep the wedding within budget. She gave special attention to including my specific needs with my son into our wedding weekend which I truly appreciate. I had to give 3 stars because we had multiple issues with the hotel room coordinator Rianne. She was unbelievably hard to work with. She would not email back or call back. We had to have our coordinator and her manager get involved to help us. The entire experience was awful and stressful. My only other complaint is that I felt like everything was done last minute which added a lot of extra stress. The reception room layout was figured out the weekend before the wedding so I could not do my table numbers until the week of the wedding. I felt like nothing was planned until 2 weeks before the wedding and I really was not sure how things would end up. It did end up wonderful. The venue is superb. My guests loved the outdoor fire pit and lighted gazebo near the tent. I would not have chosen a different venue but I wish the experience was less stressful and I hope the Abbey looks into a different hotel coordinator.

We had our wedding in the Westshore Pavilion and it couldn't have been more perfect! Stephanie and the team at the Abbey were wonderful at making sure our day was well coordinated and that the venue looked perfect. We were originally suppose to get married in May of 2020... so after moving the wedding TWICE, finally in 2022 the abbey put on a whole weekend for us! I almost exclusively used their list of recommended vendors for music, cake, photos and video. The bridesmaids and I all got a spa service before the rehearsal so and the treatments were amazing and the facilities were brand new. I got the pregnancy safe massage and was treated very carefully. The rehearsal dinner was great and super customizable, we had a welcome party for out of town guest that involved a bonfire with smores provided. The morning of I was able to get a quick breakfast with the Bridesmaids before we gathered in our getting ready room right by the salon/spa (the boys had their own right above where we needed to gather) so we could go right to our hair and make up appointments. they had at least 3 other weddings that weekend so there weren't enough appointments for all of my wedding party to get hair and make up done, but I blame myself for calling kind of late to book them. We had our wedding at the gazebo by the water and it was beautiful, lots of great photo opportunities. Our cocktail hour was on the patio and it almost rained us off bit we got lucky. The hor d'oeuvres were outstanding and everyone seemed to like the alcohol (none for me). The dinner was likewise delicious and they even allowed us to add an extra course to their usual 3 course dinner option. We had a sugar rush station and tea and coffee, as well as late-night pulled pork we forgot about :(. We blew a fuse twice during our first dance and the next morning they completely mixed up our farewell brunch with another wedding so we had to wait for tables in the main restaurant and couldn't all sit together, but that was the only gaf really. the staff was very attentive and despite all the delays we felt well taken care of. we even got two free wedding tastings since it had been so long since we tried our choices.all and all a great place to get married, just don't pick a busy weekend like Memorial Day like we did and all should be great. the rooms were also nice and the kids at my wedding enjoyed the pool area.

Our daughter was married at The Abbey last month and it was wonderful! The scenery is breathtaking and the staff helped to make the day stress free! Stephanie Adamski was terrific and really went out of her way to ensure that the day went smoothly. I would recommend this venue to anyone that wants to celebrate a wedding like no other can provide. The Abbey is anything but ordinary, which is why we chose this venue. The food was delicious and the Porto or A-Frame was truly nastogilc and magical. :)

We got married last week at The Abbey after 2 years of planning and it was AMAZING. The entire process planning with staff went so smoothly. We worked closely with Kelly and she was phenomenal. We switched our venue to The Abbey at the last minute due ti Illinois capacity restrictions and so happy we did. The rooms and grounds are beautiful! Tawny did a great job coordinating for us and answering all my questions. I enjoyed her calm energy throughout the planning process and day of. I would be happy to work with her again on another event! If she didn't know something, she checked quickly and replied via phone or email. It poured on our wedding day so we couldn't utilize the outdoor space but even the indoor space and Harbor Ballroom were amazing and spacious. Stephanie, the other event contact, was great too! The head wait staff was amazing. Made sure the bride and groom were well taken care of! Very, very happy with our choice at The Abbey!

Kelly responded to all of our questions in a timely fashion, the wedding pricing guide and preferred vendor lists were professionally put together and easy to use, and we enjoyed both our zoom tour and our in person tour. If you're considering a Lake Geneva wedding or a resort wedding, The Abbey should be on your venue list.

The backdrop of the lake, boats, and beach were absolutely stunning for photos. The Westshore Pavilion (tent) was also incredible for our reception. Cannot recommend the Abbey enough!!

My husband and I got married on October 24, 2020 at The Abbey Resort in Fontana, WI. There were multiple things that I thought my “dream wedding” consisted of that weren’t actually possible with the timing of the wedding, covid, etc. However, Kelly, the wedding coordinator helped me planned my dream wedding without me even realizing it! First and foremost she is extremely quick about responding to calls/emails. I cannot even count the number of times I changed a detail of our ceremony of reception either due to covid or just because I changed my mind and Kelly was supportive, accommodating, and responsive every step of the way! The day we first met with her, she made my husband and I and our parents feel like her own family. She truly wanted us to have the time of our lives on our wedding day. She was so kind and encouraging when I was discouraged about planning such a large event during the pandemic. When it came down to the wedding weekend, she was there and enthusiastic during our rehearsal, making sure every detail was thought of. On the day of the wedding she was present and on top of everything; fielding questions from me, my mother in law, my bridal party and all of our vendors. She truly is the best gift The Abbey could have given us! As far as The Abbey itself, I would not recommend having a reception in the West Shore Pavilion at the end of October. Even though we thought it was climate controlled, the heaters were not enough to keep up with the cool fall evening and many guests were cold. Also, one whole table did not receive their meal when everyone else did, but it was quickly resolved without me even knowing it at the time. As far as the room block reservations go, you really have to be on top of it instead of assuming it’s all taken care of because the room coordinator does not respond to calls or emails. Overall, my husband and I had the BEST night of our lives. Our wedding was so special thanks to the beautiful scenery that The Abbey provides and all of the hard work that Kelly put into planning our special day.

I worked with Emily (Held) Wasser for my wedding at the Abbey in July of 2020. Emily was nothing but the very best throughout the entire wedding planning process. I am totally not a \"I can't wait to plan my wedding person\" but Emily made it all so simple and stress free... even with changing our original date during the COVID pandemic and Emily having a baby during planning! Emily is extremely responsive, patient, and just an easy human to get a long with. I decided to change my original plans last minute due to the pandemic and Emily supported my decision to add seating outdoors for guests and to move our dance floor outside. She is extremely flexible and patient. I would get married at the Abbey again in a heartbeat. Truly the best day of my life because it was so perfectly designed and executed due to the efforts of the staff. Also, it is so simple and convenient for guests. Everyone loves the Abbey so its so great to have everything all at one location (although I did get married at a church nearby). I cannot say enough good words about the Resort or working with Emily and the other wedding planning crew. Great people and a great time overall. 10/10 would recommend!

Emily is extremely responsive, patient, and just an easy human to get a long with. I decided to change my original plans last minute due to the pandemic and Emily supported my decision to add seating outdoors for guests and to move our dance floor outside. She is extremely flexible and patient. I would get married at the Abbey again in a heartbeat. Truly the best day of my life because it was so perfectly designed and executed due to the efforts of the staff. Also, it is so simple and convenient for guests. Everyone loves the Abbey so its so great to have everything all at one location (although I did get married at a church nearby). I cannot say enough good words about the Resort or working with Emily and the other wedding planning crew. Great people and a great time overall. 10/10 would recommend!

My husband and I hosted our ceremony and reception at The Abbey on 10/19/19. We had an absolutely amazing experience working with the wedding staff at the resort. Emily Held was our wedding sales manager and I can NOT say enough good things about working with her. She was always quick to respond, full of ideas and very organized. I highly recommend working with The Abbey if you are looking for an all inclusive venue for your wedding.My only complaint is that we had a hard time working with the room booking team at the hotel. They were slow to respond. If you stay on top of them they will get everything done you will just want to make sure to follow up often.

Aside from that, we had a beautiful ceremony at the harbor gazebo and our reception in the west shore pavilion tent was wonderful.

Our wedding was beautiful! We had our ceremony outside on the gazebo and although it was really hot, it was gorgeous. Kelly P. helped me plan everything out, she was so helpful and responsive every step of the way. She made sure to answer all my questions, even if I had previously asked them. She was honestly just an amazing asset to The Abbey wedding staff. Nancy, one of the managers was also very patient and helpful during the contract signing. I also have to mention that the tasting was amazing and helped us narrow down our dinner menu. Our reception was held in the Sandbar and it was the perfect location right by the fire pit outside and the view during dinner, with the open curtains, was breathtaking. I do have to say there was a slight weird stench and although the staff tried to help, it still lingered during dinner, so check for that if you decide to have it in that room. Also, because it was the first warm day of the year, it was hard for the AC to catch-up, and although we asked for that to be fixed, it seems that it just was not possible to get the room at a really comfortable cool temperature. With that said, I would recommend The Abbey. Before picking The Abbey, I had previously tried to work with other options and I have to say, the process was simple and efficient, they know what they are doing.

She was professional, responsive, organized and attentive. It never took her more than 24 hours to respond to an email or voicemail, and 9 times out of 10 she would answer the telephone when we called. Additionally, Emily worked really well with all of our vendors. All we had to do was provide Emily with the contact information of all of our vendors and she did the rest. She really did a great job making a very stressful situation not stressful at all. All in all, my husband and I would give Emily a 10 out of 10, and would recommend her in a heartbeat!

We cannot say enough good things about The Abbey! Emily and the on-site wedding coordinators were amazing. Our wedding planner, kelly pohle, was absolutely amazing to work with. While being very professional, organized, and detail-oriented, she was also fun, friendly, and personable. While planning a wedding, you want someone who will be prompt in getting back to you with your requests and questions, and Kelly was always on it! Our wedding was a weekend long affair, and Kelly made sure every detail was exactly as we want it. I am so thankful that we can look back on our day and say it was absolutely perfect and we wouldn't change a thing!

Stay away! The wedding department is a JOKE! If you plan your wedding 9 months out you will work with at least 4-5 people who won't work there by the time you get married. Staff turn over is high. The general manager has a terrible attitude, and couldn't or didn't offer any help other than to comp 2 nights stay in a hotel room. The food was wrong, the BEO's are always wrong, because attention to detail is NOT The Abbey's strong point. If they try to make you work with Kelly Pohle, RUN!!! She has no clue what she is doing. Sadly, The Abbey is running an \"amateur hour\" with their staff. Nancy Trilla is about the only person there you can work with and get a straight answer. Her only short coming is she's super busy, doing everyone else's job, and fixing their mistakes. I don't blame Nancy, one person can only do so much, and when the rest of your team is incompetent to the 9th degree, you can only do what you can do. I'd advise before signing any agreements with The Abbey, make certain you have everything in writing. If they promise you something, make them write it, and sign it. For example, our brunch was suppose to run from 8am to noon. The agreement was they would serve until 10am and then leave the food out til noon for everyone. Come 10am they needed to take it down due to health code. Half our guests never got to eat. One of our guests hotel rooms flooded from a leaking toilet, and their only remedy was a $50 credit. Ask for a manager? HA! None are ever working or return your calls. Even my emails to General Manager Michael Lucero went unanswered. Buyer beware, if you decide to book here, you're in for a wild ride! Guys save yourselves and your future wife the trouble, DO NOT GET MARRIED AT THE ABBEY RESORT!

Nancy and Team, Exceptional! I like many brides had a vision on what our day was supposed to look like. I planned our wedding for over a year, working with the staff at The Abbey. One thing I will say it takes team work to be able to pull a wedding together, and that is exactly what we had. Nancy Trilla and her team were there every step of the way to make sure details from meals, how tables were organized, and the Decorations looked just perfect. Our wedding was December 1st, and felt everything you could imagine from Winter Wonderland. I would also like to point out the behind the scenes work that took place from helping organize the bridal party, making sure all guests were seated for ceremony, to making sure my husband and I had the best night of our lives. I have received constant compliments on Nancy and her team, and what a phenomenal job they did to make our guest feel one of a kind. Thank you for all that you did for us, we absolutely loved every minute of our wedding and will come back at least once a year to enjoy the amazing steak we had at dinner. We had our wedding reception at The Abbey in July 2018. The actual wedding was beautiful, the food was great, beautiful location and we had a great time. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same about the planning process leading up to the wedding and the room reservation process my guests experienced. We were not put at ease during the planning process and experienced many customer service issues leading up to the wedding and even upon arriving. We had three different Wedding Sales Managers that we worked with throughout the planning process and two different Room Reservation Managers. Had we known there was going to be that much turnover in the staff we were working with I don’t know that we would have held our wedding there. One of the Wedding Sales Managers we had did not tell us our cocktail hour was not going to be able to be held outside when we changed the time slightly. Luckily we learned of this before the day of when we switched to a new Sales Manager. Our guests had a lot of difficulty reserving rooms as it was difficult to get ahold of anyone on the reservation line and then no one would ever return their calls. For the amount of money we were spending we were very disappointed in the service we received and that our guests experienced. We held our ceremony at another local outdoor venue that had more privacy and I’m wishing we would have just done the whole reception there as the sales team there made the process stress-free, unlike at The Abbey. Hire a Day Of Coordinator, something we did not do and wish I would have, as the groom and maid of honor had to set up the decorations at the reception hall the morning of the wedding because our Wedding Sales Manager was too busy that morning giving tours. The other disappointing thing is that I completed a survey two months ago where I expressed our dissatisfaction and still no one has reached out to me...

Emily was fabulous to work with on the event side of planning and prepping for our wedding and Maria was wonderful to work with on rooming details for our guests. Guests at the wedding raved about our food (we repeatedly heard how amazing the steak was from many of our guests) and the wait staff was friendly and efficient. Emily was fabulous to work with on the event side of planning and prepping for our wedding and Maria was wonderful to work with on rooming details for our guests. Guests at the wedding raved about our food (we repeatedly heard how amazing the steak was from many of our guests) and the wait staff was friendly and efficient. The day was perfect in huge part to the Abbey!

I recently attended a wedding at the Abbey and all aspects associated with it actually provided by the Abbey itself were terrible to sub par. The servers were incredibly rude without provocation. The food was cold and flavorless. The bathroom situation was dismal and dirty (FYI ladies there are an entire two toilets for a venue that holds 250+). It was an unseasonably cold day but the “tent” was freezing despite the Abbeys claims that it is temperature controlled. A family member was the florist and witnessed multiple encounters between the Abbey’s event coordinator and other outside vendors and said she was terribly rude, unhelpful and mostly absent. The site itself is beautiful, what a shame to have such subpar service and food!

We had our ceremony in the beautiful gazebo by the water! the ceremony was intimate and even with the boats and resort amenities near the ceremony we had no distractions or unexpected surprises. Our children were part of our festivities and no matter how frazzled and overwhelmed I became, our wedding coordinator, Gerri was right there and made sure details werent missed and everything went smooth. We were able to have our cocktail hour out on the patio followed by the reception area in the sandbar. our cake decorator forgot to put the cake topper on, so before the roo. was opened gerri already fixed the issue. I highly recommend the abbey resort for anyone looking for your dream wedding by the water

Ceremony and reception venue was absolutely perfect. Food was to die for! Open bar was great! Father of the Bride wanted his own bottles of Crown so they made sure they had 3 bottles for him hidden behind the bar the entire night. Claire Roddy who was handling our room block had phenomenal customer service, she was AMAZING. There is a lack of communication at The Abbey. For example, not passing out welcome bags to all my guests when we paid $2 a bag for 50+ bags to be handed out. The salon and spa never returned my emails and phone calls to secure a 13 person bridal party for hair and makeup. It was a money loss for them because I went elsewhere since no one returned my multiple emails and phone calls. 2 weeks leading up to the wedding was stressful because we had very little communication with the wedding office. We had a final payment due but no finalized BEO. There was lots of back and forth. Wrong pricing on multiple lines. Things that had to be changed and asked to remove multiple times. Linen pricing was first given to us at their cost then 3 weeks later told us oh sorry that’s not the right dollar amount. One of the wedding coordinators flat out said she was getting my 250 person wedding confused for someone else’s the same day. Lastly, to all my fellow Lake Geneva Brides our there getting married, please do yourselves a favor and hire a wedding day of coordinator. That was our best decision ever especially with all the minor hiccups though the wedding planning process. Overall, The Abbey was a beautiful resort and we are SO over the moon happy we got married there! We wouldn’t have picked a more perfect location. They just need to work on their communication, level of customer service, and detail. People are paying BIG dollar amounts to have their rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, morning after brunch, and bringing in a 35 room bock for Friday AND Saturday night. The Abbey needs to work on their customer service if they are going to call themselves a “luxury” resort.

We just had our September wedding at The Abbey in the Harbor Ballroom and it was the best day of our lives!!! Tabitha (Bell) Schrock and Claire Roddy answered every question, had amazing ideas, and were so kind and fun to work with during the planning process. We did not have any worries leading up to the day. Tabitha was so organized leading our family and bridal party through the day. Thank you to Rachel and Tony for also taking such wonderful care of us during the reception! The whole staff from the front desk, to housekeeping, to In Room Dining and banquets, to the spa and restaurant was just spectacular all weekend. We have gotten nothing but amazing feedback from all our guests about the quality and friendliness of the service received throughout the weekend. The food was absolutely delicious and the bartenders were fantastic as well. We are so thankful to everyone at The Abbey for making our day so special!

We stayed at The Abbey Resort for our wedding weekend and worked with Claire to reserve guest rooms for our guests. Claire was professional and very responsive throughout the process. It was important to us to have our guests stay at a resort that had onsite bars, restaurants, pools, and a fitness facility onsite. The Abbey's annual boat show was going on during our wedding weekend, so that gave our guests another fun thing to do. Our guests commented on how friendly the staff was and how beautiful the grounds looked. The guest rooms were recently updated and the beds were very comfy! Thank you Claire for being so wonderful to work with!

My husband and I got married in early July at the Abbey. It was the most beautiful weather and an absolutely perfect day. We had a few small glitches here and there at the Abbey, like my room needed to be changed last minute because there was a roofing issue that would cause it to leak and they had to try and figure out an alternate plan. There was a few communication issues at the front desk where they were supposed to call someone to meet with me but missed the note on my reservation. Overall though, those are VERY small things in the big picture. There is no where else I could have imagined having a wedding, it was perfect for us. The Abbey has a very laid back feel. The best parts are the on-site wedding coordinators. Tabitha worked with us, and we absolutely adored her. She really did make sure everything ran smoothly. Claire helps with the room blocks and she is so precious and on top of every request. They are amazing. The Abbey seems like they really appreciate your business, and because of this it has a very intimate feel. Still, every place has some negatives. The Abbey can get pricey for guests because they have to stay for two nights. This is typical for Lake Geneva in the heart of season. So, if you want something for a younger crowd that's more affordable, it may help to look elsewhere. Still, looking at the prices at the Abbey compared to surrounding hotels, it's not too bad. Overall, I give the Abbey 5 stars and had the best weekend of my life having my wedding there!

My husband and I got married at The Abbey on Friday, May 5th 2017 (Cinco de Mayo) - a beautiful spring day with every tulip in full bloom on the property :-) Not sure there is enough room in this review to thank Tabby, Claire and The Abbey team for making our wedding truly a dream come true. The entire year long process was the least stressful of all wedding planning. Tabby is a PRO! She is organized, responsive, sweet, incredibly helpful, and was a sheer joy from the beginning to the day of the wedding to partner with. Over a month later and I'm still receiving compliments from our 200+ plus wedding party of how perfect the weekend was. It was a weekend event with the rehearsal dinner at the Porto Room (food was amazing), wedding ceremony outside at the Harbor Gazebo (thank you weather gods) and reception in the Harbor Ballroom (perfection). What I also loved about planning this wedding was how supportive the local vendor community is of one another. Finally, a HUGE thank you to Tabby for helping my husband SURPRISE me with a Mariachi Band at our cocktail hour - what a moment! We will be back every year to celebrate the best day of our lives!!

My husband and I just had our wedding at The Abbey in the Harbor Ballroom this past January (for 180) and couldn't be happier with how incredible everything was. From working with Justin on room blocks to working on the rehearsal dinner and wedding day logistics with Robyn Moe, everything was incredibly easy and seamless. The whole hotel was the friendliest bunch each time we came up to the hotel, Robyn was the most amazing Catering Manager to work with, worked tirelessly to ensure the day went perfectly and the hotel guest rooms alone are gorgeous, recently renovated and so convenient after an evening of fun! Not to mention the food was delicious, which is especially hard to do when serving such a large group. We had a magical weekend and highly recommend this venue.

They have so many weddings there that they know exactly what they are doing. We did not hire a wedding planner because the Abbey helped so much. Robyn was our contact person and she was phenomenal. We must have emailed her a thousand times with questions and she always responded promptly. She was very personable and professional. The resort itself was great too. After our reception, we ended up at the bar at the Abbey. The cover band that they had there was great. We ended up staying out til 2am with quite a few of our guests. It was like the reception that kept going! Great time. My only complaint is that the Abbey requires a two night minimum stay when you stay on weekend days. I felt bad that a lot of my guests had to stay 2 nights, but it all worked out. I am still so happy with the Abbey and would recommend it to anyone for their wedding.

My husband and I (along with our families) don't have enough words for how perfect The Abbey was for our wedding. From the day we looked at venues, we knew immediately while talking with Tabitha that The Abbey was exactly what we were looking for for our ceremony and reception. Tabitha helped us keep our heads on straight through the entire year we were planning our wedding. She was very responsive with all the questions brides have, and always gave us great guidance and advice when we sought it out. She was extremely organized and always made sure we were on top of everything we needed to do during the planning process with the venue. On our wedding day, she was also a huge help. She assisted in making sure our crazy bridal party stayed on track and that our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception went off without a hitch. We didn't have to lift a finger the entire day and that is large because of Tabitha and The Abbey staff. From a ceremony perspective, I could not imagine anywhere but the Gazebo on the property as a place to have my ceremony. The reception hall was beautiful, the food was, great, and the service was exceptional. Claire was our point of contact for our room block, and she was also extremely helpful and responsive in guiding us through the process of having a room block. We did not hear any complaints from the guest about their stay at The Abbey. Prior to our wedding, The Abbey was always a place we visited by boat with our family to have a bite to eat or grab a drink. It will forever mean so much more to us, and I can't imagine hosting my wedding anywhere else. I would not change a thing about our day. Thank you to The Abbey staff for a truly perfect wedding weekend!

My husband and I (along with our families) don't have enough words for how perfect The Abbey was for our wedding. From the day we looked at venues, we knew immediately while talking with Tabitha that The Abbey was exactly what we were looking for for our ceremony and reception. Tabitha helped us keep our heads on straight through the entire year we were planning our wedding. She was very responsive with all the questions brides have, and always gave us great guidance and advice when we sought it out. She was extremely organized and always made sure we were on top of everything we needed to do during the planning process with the venue. On our wedding day, she was also a huge help. She assisted in making sure our crazy bridal party stayed on track and that our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception went off without a hitch. We didn't have to lift a finger the entire day and that is large because of Tabitha and The Abbey staff. We got married at The Abbey on Friday September 9, 2016. We had our ceremony at the Harbor Gazebo and the cocktail hour and reception in the Pavilion. We cannot say enough good things about our day! The entire day went so smoothly and the staff was always there to make our lives easier anyway they could. We worked with Tabby and from beginning to end she was amazing to work with. She was always very responsive to emails especially since we were coordinating our wedding while we were both deployed. She made the entire planning process a breeze! She is very knowledgeable, professional, energetic and has a great personality so she was a pleasure to work with. She even personally introduced us to the banquet manager to ensure that if we had any questions during the reception we could get it figured out but everything went exactly as planned! The food was outstanding, you wouldn't believe that they could serve a perfectly cooked Filet to 70 people but they did! The Chicken Fontina and Salmon were spectacular as well and we still have friends and family that tell us that it was the best food they ever had at a wedding! There are so many other wonderful things I can say about our day and The Abbey and their staff. We can't imagine having our wedding anywhere else. Our guests were blown away by everything the entire weekend. If you want a beautiful venue, attentive service, and great quality The Abbey is a must for your big day!

Our wedding was Sept 2,2016 at The Abbey Resort and Avani Spa and we couldn't be happier with how it went! They are the best people to work with and they actually care about their clients! I would not have changed a thing! Great food, great service, and very very accommodating! Everyone we worked with especially Tabitha and Claire were sooooo genuinely nice and excited for us! They do everything in their power to make your day just how you want it. We would do our wedding here over and over again if we could! So I your looking to book your wedding at a beautiful, yet laid back fun atmosphere then I wouldn't look anymore, The Abbey is where it's at!!!!!!

Our July 9th wedding at the Abbey was everything we could have ever dreamed of. The event went off perfectly without any issues. We were married in the tent, which has floors and air conditioning. Our planner, Tabitha was amazing. From day one, she went above and beyond. Every question I had, every idea I had, every last minute panic I had she was there. Tabitha and her interns made sure that the tent was decorated exactly the way I envisioned it to be. She was flexible and understanding during the entire process. Our ceremony took place at the gazebo by the water and The Abbey set up a water station for all guests during the ceremony. The gazebo provided stunning views and amble seating for our 177 guests.The food was simply amazing at our reception. We served prime rib, a pasta dish, and short ribs. I have received so many compliments on the overall taste and quality of the food. The open bar package made sure all of our guests had a great time tearing up the dance floor. Or food during cocktail hour was wonderful too. Our guests are still commenting on the meatballs and grilled cheese!Overall, I would hands down recommend a wedding at The Abbey. The venue and our planner, Tabitha, made sure our day was picture perfect.

We booked on a very busy weekend with 4 weddings going on at once, but we're still treated as if we were the only ones there. We got married at The Abbey on Friday June 10, 2016. We had our ceremony at the Harbor Gazebo, cocktail hour on the waterfront patio, and reception in the Harbor Ballroom. We cannot say enough good things about our day! The entire day my husband and I just kept looking at each other and saying \"this day has been so perfect\" because it was!! We worked with Tabby and from beginning to end she was amazing to work with. She was always very responsive to emails and very organized. She made the entire planning process painless and fun! We worked with Claire to book our room blocks. She was also wonderful to work with, very responsive and professional. I didn't have to lift a finger on our wedding day. Tabby and her team took care of the entire set up. I just dropped off all of our decorations, reception extras, etc the night before to the wedding office with a list of where everything should go and it was taken care of! The food was outstanding considering the volume of these meals that they make. We had the Sea Bass, the Chicken Fontina and the Vegetable tower. One of our guests told me after the reception that the chicken \"may have been the best thing I have eaten in my entire life\". How cool is that?? I've been to other functions at The Abbey before with different menu options and the food was outstanding then too. Another plus, we had a lot of guests with various nutritional restrictions (gluten free, nut free, dairy free, vegan, celiac's). We had every kind of restriction imaginable it seemed like for some of our guests. Tabby assured us that all of them would be accommodated and none of the restrictions were a problem. Whatever our guests needed, they would make it happen. And they did!Other highlights:We were very impressed that one of the cocktail hour servers came and found us and let us have some of the appetizers! We weren't able to attend cocktail hour due to taking pictures. It was such a nice, unexpected surprise. -One of my bridesmaids tried to order drinks for us during cocktail hour. We asked her to get us Riesling and a jack and coke (not remembering that we didn't put either of those things on the bar). The bar manager found us and reminded us that we didn't have either of those behind the bar but said that he would put both of those things on the bar for us if we wanted because we were the bride and groom. We ended up just switching our drinks to things we did put behind the bar originally, but the fact that he found us and told us that he would accommodate anything we wanted was very impressive! It just goes to show that The Abbey provides great service. -When the cake was cut a piece was placed at our seats at the head table for us! By the time I realized the cake had been served on the dessert table all of the pieces were gone and I thought that we weren't going to get to try any, but again The Abbey service was outstanding and they thought of everything for us!There are so many other wonderful things I can say about our day and The Abbey and their staff. We can't imagine having our wedding anywhere else. Our guests were blown away by everything the entire weekend. We would recommend The Abbey everyday of the week. If you want a classy venue, attentive service, and great quality The Abbey is a must for your big day!

I want to give a special thanks for Robyn Moe, our wedding coordinator, who was amazing throughout the whole process of planning our wedding. She answered all of our e-mails and phone calls very promptly, and she made sure that our day was just as we'd imagined it. I can't thank her enough for bearing with us, especially towards the end when I was getting overwhelmed and had to change some things in a matter of days. She even picked me up in a golf cart to drive me from my room to the reception tent right before the ceremony when my husband asked her if she could. Also, Justin Juntunen, who helped us book our room and block of room for our guests, was awesome and was always there to answer e-mails promptly and take care of any situations we needed help with. I also want to thank Tauna, from the Avani Spa in The Abbey resort. She did my hair trial and my hair on they day of the wedding, and she was absolutely incredible at making my hair look just like the picture from Pinterest that I showed her. She was also very friendly, kind, and she made me feel very at ease on the day of the wedding. She is truly talented at what she does, and I wouldn't want anyone else to do my hair on the day of my wedding :). When we decided to book our wedding at The Abbey, we were given a list of their preferred vendors (from our officiant to the bakery we got our cupcakes from), and every single one of the vendors we chose was from that list, so we really appreciated how easy The Abbey made it to find the right people to make our day extra special. Thank you to everyone at The Abbey, especially Robyn, Justin, and Tauna. My husband and I had the most fantastic time at our wedding, and it's because of how wonderful and accommodating everyone at The Abbey is. If you are looking for the perfect wedding spot, The Abbey is it!

My husband and I grew up in the Lake Geneva area and we could not think of a better place to get married than the Abbey Resort in Fontana. Throughout the planning our wedding coordinator, Pam was very helpful with answering any questions, however when any issue with the venue came up she became very defensive to the point I did not want to ask her for anything on my wedding day. For example, the day before our wedding we were decorating the reception tent and noticed that there were a large amount of asian beetles in the corner of the ceiling of the tent. I brought this issue up to Pam and asked if they could be vacuumed up and got a very cold reply, something like: \"I was just in there and didn't see any bugs\". The bartender Jane was very unprofessional and rude at both the rehearsal dinner and unfortunately at my wedding. She was seen rolling her eyes and texting and quite honestly treated the wedding party, myself and my husband included, like we were white trash. I am a registered nurse and my husband is an electrician, both very respectable careers. We proudly paid for our own wedding, and it was beautiful, but I wish we would have looked at other options in the Lake Geneva area. The venues in the Lake Geneva area are very similar in price, so my suggestion would be to look around, meet with the coordinators, and research your heart out. This is your wedding day, it is supposed to be one of the best day's of you and your spouses life, please don't make the same mistake we did and chose a venue just based on the looks because you will be sadly disappointed with the staff at the Abbey Resort. \rShortly after my review to the Abbey Resort, I received 1 phone call regarding my review and 1 letter from the management stating they were sorry for what happened. Unfortunately, this does not change how awful the staff was to my guests, my family and myself on our wedding day.

The Abbey was a beautiful place to get married. The wedding coordinator, Tabitha, was extremely helpful and supportive. It was easy to change things around and everything was beautifully organized. The food was great and staff friendly. We got married in the pavilion and had the ceremony here outside as well. Everything ran smoothly. The reason I dropped it to 4 stars, was the Abbey requires a 2-night stay for all guests which deterred many of our guests from staying the night. This made me feel bad as I wanted them to be able to just relax and stay. Some things were not included in price as are usually included in hotel stay such as continental breakfast. Also, many guests felt that even with the block price the rooms were way too expensive. Overall, the Abbey was a great venue and we had an awesome weekend there.

The Abbey was a beautiful place to get married. The wedding coordinator, Tabitha, was extremely helpful and supportive. It was easy to change things around and everything was beautifully organized. The food was great and staff friendly. We got married in the pavilion and had the ceremony here outside as well. Everything ran smoothly. The reason I dropped it to 4 stars, was the Abbey requires a 2-night stay for all guests which deterred many of our guests from staying the night. Our experience at The Abbey was an incredible one. A ton of credit goes to our wedding coordinator – Tabby Bell. The entire process from the introduction meetings till the wedding went smoothly. When we told her that we wanted to have a Mexican themed wedding Tabby seemed genuinely excited for us and had such a great attitude throughout the planning process. Tabby offered a lot of suggestions and was very much engaged which helped put us at ease and took a good amount of stress off of us. \rThe Abbey Resort is an incredible venue and we would do the same thing over again. My wife always wanted to have a tent wedding that incorporated the “lake” feel, so when we found The Abbey we got pretty excited. Our guests keep talking about how awesome the entire weekend was. The great thing about The Abbey is that there is so much to do to keep guests entertained. Pools, Bars in walking distance, Spa, Restaurants… The accommodations / hotel rooms were well maintained and very clean as well. For our wedding weekend there was an awesome band at the Waterfront bar (located within The Abbey) that played both nights. We closed it down both nights as well!\rThe food at our wedding was outstanding. Our favorite food is Mexican food, so we decided to have a Mexican buffet served at the wedding. We STILL have friends/family that tell us that it was the best food they ever had at a wedding! \rAgain, our event coordinator Tabby Bell is top notch. She is very knowledgeable, professional, very energetic and has a great personality so she was a pleasure to meet with.\rOur hotel booking manager was Claire Roddy was great to work with as well. Everyone was so nice and accommodating at the resort.\r\rThere is no doubt, we highly recommend The Abbey. \r

We held our August 2015 wedding ceremony and cocktail reception at The Abbey Resort. The Abbey is in a stunning location - and the coordinator Tabby Bell was fantastic to work with from start to finish. Plus, we were able to get a really great room block that allowed a ton of our friends and family to stay at the Abbey. By all accounts our guests had an amazing time staying there (great pools for kids, great restaurants, fun bars for after parties). But the big issue was how many other weddings were booked on the same Saturday. We booked first, with our ceremony at 3:30. But the Abbey then booked a second ceremony in the same location at 4:30 and a third one at 5:30. So that is 3 wedding ceremonies in the same location in 2 hours. We were really disappointed when we learned this. We met with the general manager of the resort to discuss our concern and he offered little help. He explained that since the Abbey has a short wedding season (which is debatable), their goal is to book as many weddings as possible each day. \r\rOverall, I think our guests thought the ceremony and cocktail reception were very nice. It really is beautiful there. And the staff at the Abbey were wonderful - not just Tabby but also Claire who helped with the room block and many others. And things ran smoothly all day. We just wished we had known how many weddings the Abbey books on each summer Saturday. Other brides should definitely know that there could be 3 or 4 or more other weddings going on at the resort on your same day. The Abbey may just be worth it - but brides should be aware of that fact.

We had a small wedding of 57 people at the Abbey. The Porto Room was the perfect location for reception. It was absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, we had to move our outside ceremony inside, but the staff did an absolutely beautiful job with the room. It was a last minute switch and the staff worked hard to make everything perfect. The reason that we picked the Abbey was because of Tabitha Bell our wedding coordinator. She was absolutely amazing. She worked hard to make sure every detail was perfect. I did not have to worry about anything the day of the wedding. The location was beautiful and our families had a great time the whole weekend.

We had our ceremony and reception at the Abbey June 20th, 2015. I cannot express enough how wonderful the Abbey was!! From beginning to end, everything was perfect. The ceremony was beautiful. We followed that up with a cocktail hour and reception in the ballroom. The first time I saw the ballroom setup was after the ceremony, and I was stunned with how gorgeous it looked (without me having to lift a finger!) Tabitha was so much help that day. She did everything from coordinating the main events and vendors to helping the groom and groomsmen put their boutonnieres on! :) My husband and I planned the wedding at the Abbey from a couple hours away, which we thought would be tough. It was such a breeze planning this reception with the help of Tabitha. Some of the highlights from our day:\r- Giant dance floor\r- Outstanding food\r- Beautiful, remodeled hotel rooms\r- Late night snacks! (Nachos, pizza, and hotdogs at 11pm when everyone is drinking and needs a snack. An absolute guest favorite)\r- Catered mimosas and lunches to our rooms while getting ready.\r- Beautiful space for a ceremony. Ours rained half way through, but it honestly didn't matter. The trees covered the guests nicely and it looked really pretty with the rain in photos.\r- The ballroom is HUGE and so pretty! You can see the entire harbor and much of the lake from it.\r- Wonderful bar selection, and the bartenders were so fast! \r\rIf you are even considering having your wedding here, go and speak with Tabitha Bell! She will answer any and every question you have, show you the ins and outs of the Abbey, and ease you through the entire process of planning your wedding! Like I said, ours was planned from a distance away. We used some of her suggestions for vendors (DJs, photography) and booked them without ever meeting with them prior. Her recommendations were SPOT ON, and I couldn't have picked them better myself. It was such a perfect weekend. We love the Abbey and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a perfect wedding. It was like a destination wedding that everyone could make! :)

There was also a guy that looked to be directly assisting Tabitha, whom I didn't get a name but was also extremely helpful and made sure we were happy with the event throughout different parts of the day/night. Definitely would recommend the Abbey for a wedding! The food for the reception was all just as good as what we had at the tasting and were not mislead. Many great comments received from people regarding how great the food was and how unique the Porto space was and loved how it was decorated.

My husband and I could not have asked for a more perfect wedding day. We worked with Tabby throughout our entire wedding experience. From going to view The Abbey, booking the room, the tasting, all of the planning along the way, and on the big day. Tabby was a pleasure to work with, she is the best! Tabby was very helpful and answered any questions that we had while planning our wedding. She was very quick to respond to emails and phone calls. Tabby made sure all of our requests were met. She made sure that our room was set up exactly how we wanted and that everything ran smoothly on our wedding day. Both my husband and I could not have imagined working with anyone else. She really made our special day even more magical than we could have hoped for. \rWe had our reception in the Harbor Ballroom. The room looked amazing and was very spacious. The windows overlooking the harbor set up a breathtaking view. Our guests were blown away. The food was also top notch. All of our guests were raving about all courses of their meals. The bartenders and waitstaff were very friendly as well. We also booked a block of rooms for our wedding. The rooms looked great, were very clean, and comfortable. The Abbey would be a perfect venue to have a wedding for any couple.

The Abbey Resort is the PERFECT venue for a wedding! We had my Daughter's wedding reception at the Harbor Ballroom October 18, 2014, which was Spectacular! From the initial meeting with our wedding coordinator, Tabitha Bell, we knew the Abbey Resort was the Best!\rWe had several out of state family and friends in attendance and The Abbey Resort provided a variety of activities for all ages. Fontana and the Lake Geneva area was beautiful with the autumn colors.\rWe received excellent service from all aspects of the Abbey Resort staff. Tabby was exceptional!! Her professionalism ,personal ability and candor helped to make my daughter's wedding the magical event it was. Our guests stated it was the best wedding reception they attended, the food was the \"best wedding food \" and the setting overlooking the water was ideal. \rOur Wedding Weekend concluded with a Morning After Brunch which was delicious. Looking for a venue for your wedding the Abbey is the place. We cannot say enough about the Abbey. From the moment we saw the Abbey we knew it was the right choice for us. The property is beautiful, the staff is attentive and very accommodating, exceeded all our expectations. Had our wedding in July , our ceremony was at the harbor gazebo, cocktail on the patio and the reception in the Porto room. Our guests truly enjoyed the tasteful menu and all the amenities the hotel has to offer. Though our wedding was small the staff made us feel special in every way. Our wedding coordinator was with us every step of the way , a big thank you to Pam. We have a memory that will last us a lifetime, and happy to share our experience. We now consider the Abbey or home away from home and cannot wait for our next visit.

Looking for a venue for your wedding the Abbey is the place. We cannot say enough about the Abbey. From the moment we saw the Abbey we knew it was the right choice for us. The property is beautiful, the staff is attentive and very accommodating, exceeded all our expectations. Had our wedding in July , our ceremony was at the harbor gazebo, cocktail on the patio and the reception in the Porto room. Our guests truly enjoyed the tasteful menu and all the amenities the hotel has to offer. Though our wedding was small the staff made us feel special in every way. Our wedding coordinator was with us every step of the way , a big thank you to Pam. We have a memory that will last us a lifetime, and happy to share our experience. We now consider the Abbey or home away from home and cannot wait for our next visit.

From the first call I made to our wedding coordinator (Tabby) to our first trip there, it was a perfect fit. Tabby was the first coordinator that I met that seemed excited about helping to plan the wedding. She offered fun suggestions. The resort is perfect for out of town guests and close to chicago/Milwaukee airports. Everything ran smoothly thanks to great organization. Everything seemed to be on time, food was good and people knew where to go. The harbor gazebo was beautiful for there ceremony and we had a lot of fun in the tent for the reception. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the spa- pretty expensive and the services were not that great. I would recommend getting your hair/nails done in town. I would also recommend having the wedding on Friday- much less busy and no 2 night minimum. We had the whole resort to ourselves. It was awesome. Well done tabby and abbey staff.

My husband and I had an amazing experience while hosting our wedding at the Abbey Resort. We had our ceremony at the gazebo facing the marina and our reception in the tent near the woods. It was such an amazing day and over all experience while working with their staff. \r\rThe only negatives I have to state are the prices of hotel rooms for wedding guests, being that they are a resort destination it was difficult to get great rates but the upside was all of our guests made the weekend into a vacation which helped sell for them to stay at the abbey.
