The American Hotel Banquet Room - Staunton Reviews
Viktoria Wilkins(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-01-2022 An absolutely beautiful venue! Michelle really helped the wedding day come together, and we got nothing but compliments on the location. We were even able to walk from the venue to a nearby hotel. I would highly recommend the American Hotel & Banquet Room to anyone looking for an exceptional venue! Reviewed on 25-01-2022
Sara Hafenbreadl(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-10-2021 We used The American Hotel as a reception venue. Michelle made our wedding experience seamless! She had everything taken care of on our wedding day. She even came to the rescue when our DJ's speaker broke! The venue was perfect for our 100 person reception. Our guests were able to walk from their hotels to the venue and experience the beauty of Staunton in October. Highly recommend this venue! Reviewed on 02-01-2022
Jennifer Weston(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-08-2018 We were married at The American Hotel in August 2018. Peter and his staff were extremely helpful and responsive in planning our wedding. The venue was beautiful and we received many positive comments from our guests. We didn't have to worry about rain or heat and were able to just relax knowing that we were in good hands. We highly recommend this venue for a wedding or any other event! Reviewed on 19-09-2018

a member (bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-03-2019 My husband and I had our wedding here last October. We could not have asked for a better experience with the venue and Peter. He was beyond helpful, always took the time to answer our questions, made great vendor recommendations, and provided wonderful assistance night-of. Such a beautiful, historic space. Heather Scott(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-08-2017 We hosted our August wedding reception at the American Hotel. We're not from the area and Peter was great at working with us remotely to plan a successful event. He helped us figure out everything from the room layout to the linens and lots of other little things. He was extremely accessible during the two days we rented the space and really went the extra mile to help us make sure everything went off without a hitch. Also.. we just love this historic place! Aubree Armstrong(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-02-2015 We used the American Hotel for our winter wedding ceremony and reception. This venue is absolutely gorgeous, affordable, and gives you the freedom to have it your way. Brian Sasser was our contact person (he was fabulous); Always there to offer suggestions, but never over-stepping. During the wedding he was present to help coordinate and gladly offered assistance with lighting, moving tables, etc. I really can't say enough about this beautiful, historic building. I couldn't be happier. I would recommend to any bride. Reviewed on 03-03-2015
Allison Buttel(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-07-2014 The American Hotel was a great place to hold our reception. Exposed brick, gorgeous chandeliers and wall sconces, and totally usable second-floor balcony space made this venue beautiful and unique. Linen rentals and a caterer (Weddings and Things - awesome!) in the same building made it incredibly convenient. You get to design your own layout and they set it up for you. We were able to get in at 10:30 a.m. to do decorations, which was very helpful. And holding our wedding on a Sunday saved us several thousand dollars. Very highly recommended! Reviewed on 28-08-2014
Samantha Staebell(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-08-2013 The venue itself is amazing. There is an upstairs area, a beautiful foyer and great ambiance in the main room so that you really do not need much decoration. The price is just right and the wedding guests all commented on how beautiful and historic the location was. \r\rI do event planning for a living, so I may have a high expectation for service, but the service with the contacts manager was very sub-par. Every question I asked was answered with a snippy remark and was not very customer-service oriented. My original on-site coordinator (through the venue) is no longer employed with the venue, but I was not alerted to this until 2 weeks after I did not receive a response and contacted the manager. This and the questions not being completely answered by the manager (after agreeing to serve as the planner in the originally planners absence) left a bad taste in my mouth.\r\rHowever, the new on-site person I was assigned (and only met the day before the wedding) was great. He was very helpful and friendly.\r\rAll in all, it was an okay experience. It would have been an amazing experience if customer service was a little more at the forefront of the sales experience. Emily Gravett(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-07-2013 If you are looking for a venue with a lot of personality, a place that's not typical or cliche, this is the place for you. This is a historic site, which used to be a hotel, and it has a memorable interior-- exposed brick walls, beautiful light fixtures, hanging stained glass from the old train station, a balcony. There are lots of different neat spaces to decorate and hang out in. The venue also provides chairs and tables and will help you order linens. You can rent the space for a rehearsal for a very reasonable rate too. We actually held both our ceremony and our reception at the American Hotel and just \"flipped\" the room during cocktail hour. It worked out great (though we did have a lot of amazing friends and family willing to help make it happen)! Reviewed on 28-07-2013
Kelli Dunkum(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-08-2012 Perfect place to have a reception. Needs very little decoration because the room has a charm of its own. Only problem was communicating with management as they run the business from another city and coordinating was hard. Reviewed on 20-09-2012
Cassy Maxton-Whitacre(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-06-2012 The banquet room at the American Hotel is a very lovely space. It features exposed brick, cream-painted wood fixtures, chandeliers, and a balcony overlooking the main room. The prep room for your caterer is of a good size, but be advised that there is no heating element of any kind. There is a decent cooler, however. One wall of the main room is almost entirely windows, which allowed a lovely light to filter in for our late afternoon/early evening reception. The owner will arrange tables and chairs based on whatever seating plan you provide. You can also rent linens through him, but check your inventory carefully. I don't think I got exactly what I ordered, and they were not laid out on the tables, so we had to do it. But we managed to make it all work out. There's adequate parking in a small lot and on the adjacent parking deck. Price is very competitive, especially on alternate nights and when compared to nearby wineries and hotels.
