A Fun and Sophisticated Farm Venue
The Barns of Kanak is a wedding venue located in Prince George, VA, just south of Richmond and west of Hampton Roads. This property conjures feelings of an era gone by for a romantic wedding ceremony and reception. The sprawling farm consists of over 13 acres with various sites to host your dream celebration. As a family-owned and operated venue, they are committed to reducing the stress of planning, so you can relax and enjoy this special time with loved ones. The Barns of Kanak offers packages to best suit your needs and budget. In order to bring your dream event to life, they have a wedding-coordination team to provide support leading up to and on the day of your wedding. Tables, chairs, linens, and decor are all included in the packages to make things simple and stress-free. Set-up, clean-up, and parking attendants to assist guests on arrival are also included in all packages. Farming on this property began in 1899 with John and Molly Kanak who lovingly raised their 11 children amongst the beauty of the Virginia countryside. It remained in the Kanak family until 2016, at which time extensive renovations brought it to an elegant standard for modern weddings. With the capacity to host up to 200 guests, the property features 10 barns, six silos, a farmhouse, and a cottage, and on-site bridal boutique, among other spaces. The well-appointed farmhouse and cottage are available for the wedding party to relax and complete their final preparations in style. Each fully-restored barn possesses its own ambience. Host outdoor nuptials at the Ceremony Barn with its classic red cladding as a backdrop. An indoor ceremony can be held in The Metal Barn whose white cloth draping gives it an ethereal feel. White-washed metal and huge barn doors make this room bright and airy. The Reception Barn features warm wood beams and columns with elegant chandeliers and bistro lights hanging from its vaulted ceilings. Other features include an outdoor fire pit, a bridge, fountain, pool, and covered patios. The Barns of Kanak also offers a bridal boutique to make your formalwear shopping experience convenient and fun. Offering bridal gowns as well as tuxedos and suits for rent or purchase, Leora Bridal is located on the property to allow for easy rental returns after the wedding. Couples getting married at The Barns of Kanak also get perks such as $100 off their wedding dress, a free tuxedo rental, free gown steaming, and discounts on dress preservation after the wedding.

I’m going to try my best but I’m not sure this review will give enough credit to the amazing team at The Barns of Kanak. I stumbled upon it on The Knot, but my sister had a friend say that I needed to give this venue a tour. As soon as we arrived my husband and I were just in love with the spacious and beautiful scenery the venue has to offer. Every single spot there is just picture perfect for anyone’s wedding day. One of the best things they have to offer is their service. These guys are exceptional and are literally there with you every step of the way. My husband and I keep saying that our wedding was so much fun and just magical. The staff there made that happen. A special shout out to Kylie and Delaney for making our day so special. Our friends and family keep raving about our wedding. Take the tour of The Barns of Kanak, I think you’ll fall in love just like we did.

My husband and I had the pleasure of working with the Barns of Kanak for our September 2023 wedding, and we cannot say a single negative thing! The entire Barns of Kanak staff is truly wonderful. They provide wedding coordinators starting at 60 days out from your wedding, and we were lucky enough to work with Delaney. Delaney is not only wonderful at her job, but also an overall genuinely wonderful woman! She handled all the large details of the wedding day in addition to the small details, like carrying a bag full of emergency items on the days of and coming up with alternate plans quickly if needed. Our wedding day was absolutely perfect, everything was on time and flowed seamlessly. The owners, Tom and Diane, are also truly wonderful people. My maid of honor unfortunately was sick throughout the wedding morning, and without hesitation or even asking, Tom drove to the nearest grocery store and bought her ginger ale and various snacks. Both of our families were in awe of just how kind and invested everyone at BoK was in our special day, it really is a family-oriented venue. The BoK grounds were immaculate, and they have many different areas to make your special day reflective of you both as a couple. All I can say is THANK YOU to all the Barns of Kanak staff who made our wedding day a dream come true.

Where do I even begin!? I cannot say enough great things about the Barns of Kanak and all the staff. From the moment we toured the venue with Kylie I knew this is where I wanted my now husband & I to get married. The venue is absolutely BREATHTAKING and checked off all the boxes of what I wanted in a venue. There is a bridal house, groom’s house, decor to pick from, and most importantly a beautiful property. Thankfully the weather on our wedding day was perfect, so we were able to get married outside of the red barn. However, just incase the weather wasn’t the best, there is a beautiful covered metal barn which is such a relief to have a plan B and alleviated a lot of stress. My husbands parents live out of state and we reached out to BOK when they were coming to visit asking if we could bring them to see the venue & without hesitation Diane said absolutely and scheduled time that weekend for us to come by! We had the pleasure of having Delaney as our coordinator & I cannot say enough great things about her! She was always on top of everything! She guided us through everything we needed to do for the wedding & was always available for any questions we had & quick to respond. She always had a smile on her face & never made us feel like we were being a bother. During our 60 day meeting, she walked us through our timeline and connected with each of our vendors, which allowed us to truly enjoy planning our wedding and not stress about connecting with our vendors about all the little details as our wedding approached. I can honestly say that on our wedding day my husband & I did not feel one ounce of stress. Delaney & the BOK staff handled absolutely everything & allowed us to be fully present with our friends & family at our wedding. I seriously could go on & on about the Barns of Kanak. We truly cannot thank Kylie, Diane, Delaney, and all the BOK staff enough!! The Barns of Kanak will always be such a special place for my husband & I! <3

I can't say enough great things about this venue and the team running it. To start, this was our 4th venue tour but as soon as we pulled up it moved to the top of the list. The grounds are well maintained, everything had character, and we were greeted by Delaney who turned out to be our Coordinator. The months leading up, she was on top of EVERYTHING. She asked us questions we had NO idea about and truly guided us throughout the year-long process of planning everything. On the day before, we met the team. I don't remember everyone's names but Delaney and Em were our 2 points of contact. When we showed up, they had their game faces on. They were friendly to everyone, laughed and joked with us as we moved through rehearsal, but we're very organized and had the details down to a T. The day of hit us with some Acts of God (outskirts of a hurricane) that caused the power to go out fot a bit about an hour before the ceremony started. Of course I'm freaking out but the hugs and smile I got from them made me realize they had it all already figured out. The DJ equipment ran on battery so we went with a quiet, intimate ceremony followed by a candlelit reception. Everything turned out amazing! The team even called the power company and they were on-site within a couple of hours. At the end of the night, they sent us home while everything was packed up and moved into a designated vehicle. We did absolutely nothing. This coordinator, this venue, and the team are truly why they are a VENUE vs. a place that does weddings. We truly can not thank you all enough for everything you do.

Overall an amazing venue for our wedding. The venue itself is gorgeous with a lot of outdoor space, but also plenty of shaded areas to relax. We got a lot of compliments about how beautiful the venue was from our guests. The staff is also top notch, everyone was communicative and helpful if we needed anything. They provide a coordinator at around 60 days out from your event and this saved me and my husband so much time and reduced our stress levels. Our coordinator, Delaney, was on top of everything, reaching out to our various vendors to make sure everything went as smoothly as possible on the day of. She was also extremely responsive to any questions or concerns we had prior to or even on our wedding day. Additionally, they provide a catalog of decor and other items that can be used during your event for no additional charge.

The venue is STUNNING- all our guests were raving about the grounds and barn! I loved the fact that I didn’t have to stress renting all my own decor- almost everything from my wedding decor was through BOK made my life SO much easier!

The Barns deserves an 200/100 rating! They were absolutely PHENOMENAL in every single way!! I can't even put into words how wonderful they were, but I am going to try. From the moment we went and toured the venue we both fell in love. My husband and I had toured a few places but our hearts weren't set. We went down to tour the Barns and met Delaney and both instantly knew this was it. We told Delaney and got our date on the books. The quant feeling of being in the country with the corn fields, the look and style of the red rustic barns, and the magical feeling you get when you see the ceremony barn with the breathtaking chandeliers. We knew everything was going to be great, but we didn't know just how great it was going to be. Delaney ended up being our wedding planner and I was thrilled. We booked the venue two years out, so I had plenty of questions and even though she was not my (official) wedding planner yet, both her and Kylie were prompt to answer all of the questions I had. When we came for the 60 day out planning meeting, I was thinking it was going to be so stressful. Delaney kept it very relaxed and chill and I was shocked at how low stress it felt. From that point on until the day before the wedding, Delaney kicked it into high gear with accounting for every little detail. She updated things as we went along and reached out to all of my vendors so I didn't have to (which isn't the fun part about wedding planning anyways!) She even gave me her phone number so as guests last minute told me they couldn't come, I texted her so she could update these changes on the floorplan. She was prompt in answering emails and texts, and was helpful with everything. Come the day of, she worked well with all of my vendors. She had every little thing in order. We stayed at the farmhouse the night before and Diane (the owner) made us feeling nothing but at home. All of the little simple touches they had were amazing, from mimosas and bagels the morning of to breakfast for the newlyweds the day after. I think one of my favorite parts of the entire day was when Delaney told us they had set up a private dinner for us in the metal barn. When she first said this, I was hesitant because I was having so much fun and didn't want to be taken away from my guests. But, I decided it was probably best so I could eat and not be distracted by talking to guests. When I walked into the metal barn, my jaw dropped. They had set up a private candle-lit dinner for us all alone in the barn. It was absolutely gorgeous. This was our time to just be us and enjoy in the moment. The rest of the day and night was a dream, and now almost a week later I am still in awe. I cannot say enough about this Barns of Kanak team, and I would recommend them to anyone I know getting married!!!!!

Not only did I have a glowing review to go off of from a friend that got married there but from our very first email interaction with Kylie (she was reciprocating my email smiley faces and assuaging my nerves as a new bride planning a wedding) I could tell this venue really cares about people and want to help out any way they can. We toured many wedding venues but knew right after we met in person with Diane, Tom and Kylie that this was our dream venue. You feel like you are a part of the family when you talk to them. Delaney was our wedding coordinator leading up to the big day and then we got a surprise where Kylie came to help her out. These girls are literally SWEET BABY ANGELS!!! Not only did they answer any and every question I had (tons of emails from an anxious bride), they were always right there the day of to bustle my dress, pin my veil, making sure we always had a drink, dancing with us, making the most darling goody basket to take home at the end of the night and sooo many more things!!! My whole family commented on how doting and genuine the entire staff was. Everything went off without a hitch, on time and we didn’t have to worry about ANYTHING because they were ON IT!! They really go above and beyond to make your day special. I could go on and on about how amazing these beautiful souls are. We could not have asked for a better experience all around. My whole family commented on how doting and genuine the entire staff was. Everything went off without a hitch, on time and we didn’t have to worry about ANYTHING because they were ON IT!! They really go above and beyond to make your day special. I could go on and on about how amazing these beautiful souls are. We could not have asked for a better experience all around. I cannot say enough amazing things about the Barns of Kanak & team. They made all of our wedding dreams come true. The venue is stunning and the inclusive packages are perfect and really helped us save money as we did not need to purchase signage and other decor items we would never use again. The ceremony options are great as well because there is another barn on property where you can have your ceremony in case of rain or a very hot day. The Barns of Kanak staff are the sweetest! Any request we had they made it happen. Even a few unexpected last minute changes were no issue to them. You get your day of coordinator 2 months prior to the wedding and ours was Delaney. As a bride who opted to not have a wedding planner as I’m too much of a control freak she was a blessing to me. Once I was 2 months out I was begging for help. But I didn’t have to ask her for anything because she made it so easy. She contacts all the vendors and creates a very detailed timeline. All of my vendors were thrilled with Delaney. Do not hesitate to give them a call. I promise they will make your day as perfect as you dreamed it would be. I will always recommend Delaney and the Barns of Kanak.

The BOK staff and coordinating team (led by the wonderful Kylie <3) were the most patient, professional, and organized group of individuals you could ever ask for. They care about you and they want each and every couple that works with them to truly have the most magnificent day.... and believe me, if you choose BOK, you will!!!! The staff at barns of kanak are absolutely AMAZING!!!! you will not find a better organized team than here. I was a bride who felt like everything needed to be perfect, and the barns of kanak team made everything perfect! If we had a question about something they were all always just a email or text or call away. The day of our wedding was a fairy tale! The service and care we all recieved that day was MAGNIFICENT. The whole team comes together and treats you and your wedding party and family and friends wonderfully. It truly says alot when your wedding party feels catered too and special on your special day too. That just shows how much this teams cares and puts into your experience at their venue. Our wedding day was everything and more than we could have ever dreamed about. My husband was looking at some of our wedding pictures and said honey i never thought we would have a wedding like this but the barns surely made our dreams come true. If you are looking for a venue please look no further. The compassion for this business that this team has money cant buy. We looked high and low for the perfect wedding venue and we found that and more here at the barns of kanak. They have a barn stocked full of trendy wedding décor, separate areas to get ready, tons of picture perfect locations, AND wedding coordinating options. However, the real gem at BOK is their OUTSTANDING staff. Delaney was a dream to work with in the year/months leading up to our wedding. She responded to all of my questions so quickly and with so much grace and sincerity. Going in to the process, I had very little vision of what I wanted my reception and ceremony to look like. Delaney took the time to talk it through and they somehow brought to life the most perfect day. The team did everything and anything to make sure the day went off without a hitch. Even our guests commented on the efficiency and attentiveness of the BOK crew. I didn’t even notice when we had to create an alternate plan due to high winds or that we had run out of cups for the bar. They took care of it all - every bride’s dream! I am so grateful we picked the Barns of Kanak for our venue. It is the perfect place to mark the beginning of the rest of our life together.

We got married at The Barns of Kanak on 4.30.22 and we could not have asked for a better experience! We loved how welcoming Kylie was on our initial tour, and after we toured she sent us a thank you follow up email which none of the other venues we toured did. We came back a month later for a second tour with our families, and Delaney did that tour. Our families were impressed with the venue and the staff that we ended up booking the next day. We loved the packages the Barns had to offer. They had everything we needed for our wedding day (the farm house for girls and the cottage for guys to get ready in, rain back up location, and the beautiful reception barn). We especially loved how they had a decor catalog with so many options to pick from that we didn't really need to go out and buy that much extra decor. We had Delaney as our wedding coordinator and we could not say enough good things about her. She was so organized through the entire process and answered all the questions we had leading up to the day. When we had our 60 day out meeting with her we were impressed that she had already reached out to all our vendors. She did great coordinating with all our vendors their time line information the week of for us so we didn't have to worry about any of that.Delaney & Team were great on our wedding day and everything went smoothly even when we got a bit behind on our timeline in the morning and decided to move up our sparkler exit the day of. We also highly recommend the newly-wed overnight farmhouse stay! At the end of the night our families were impressed with how quickly and efficiently the Barns team packaged up all our decor and leftover items. All our families had to do was pull their cars up for the staff to put the items in. Overall highly recommend the Barns of Kanak for anyone who wants to have a stress free wedding day. There are not enough words to describe how great this venue was for out wedding day!

Where do I begin? I first found The Barns off of The Knot when looking for a venue. When emailing I found out there was going to be a vendor market so what better opportunity to go and check it out. To my surprise when arriving Kylie approached me and knew who I was, told me if I had any questions, to please let her know. She also offered me a tour if I wanted it. Keep in mind this was a market, 50+ guest were there, and she took the time out to find me and make me feel like home. From that day forward our experience just kept growing with love. I got the opportunity to work with Delaney and her team. She never once made me feel like I was asking too many questions. Come day of, I had no stress, I was relaxed and so ready for the day thanks to all of their preparation. 6 months prior My Dad fell ill to Liver Cancer and the day of the wedding he wasn't suppose to attend as he was still in ICU. Delaney approached me and told me not to worry, she wanted to offer me to come back at any time and take a photo shoot with Dad once he got better. However, my Dad passed shortly after getting married. The love, support, and thoughtfulness of this team continued to be there for my family and I as they sent me the most beautiful flowers as well as offering a memorial photo session. I will forever be grateful for everyone at this venue and they will always hold a special place in my heart.

We could not be more happy that we chose to have our wedding at the Barns of Kanak! The grounds and buildings are beautiful and gave us so many great options for hanging out, taking photos, and different parts of the event. We barely had to decorate anything, because the spaces are gorgeous themselves! Kylie, Diane, and the rest of the team are AMAZING to work with - we felt so welcomed during the whole planning process, and they made the wedding day go so smoothly. Kylie basically acted as a wedding planner and gave us great advice at all stages of planning. We had to reschedule our wedding due to Covid, and the team was incredibly flexible and understanding about all the changes. I would highly recommend the Barns of Kanak to anyone getting married!!

Having our wedding at the Barns of Kanak was the single greatest decision we made for our wedding. The grounds are absolutely stunning. Every time we were there the owners were working hard to keep everything looking incredibly beautiful. We wanted to do things differently from how The Barns usually does things – we didn’t want our ceremony in front of the barn, which is where virtually all the ceremonies are held, and we wanted to bring tons of florals/greenery into the barn which also hadn’t been done before. A lot of places have a rhythm of how they do things and don’t like to deviate since they have their way down to a science – that was not at all the case with the barns. Not only did they let us have our ceremony in an unconventional place and have our florist cover all the poles of the barn in greenery, they were SO excited about our ideas, which made us even more excited about our ideas! This venue provides so much more than a place to get married. The farmhouse to get ready in is incredibly spacious and beautiful. They also have a décor barn which is FULL of décor for you to use in your wedding that is all included! I am so bad at making decisions and weddings are FULL of decisions, having the décor barn was a godsend both in having way less decisions to make and for saving us money! I didn’t have to spend hours agonizing over which “Please sign our guestbook” sign to spend $40 on – the barns had a couple to choose from, making my decisions easier and it’s all included so I wasn’t stuck with a bunch of things I spent money on after the wedding. Saving the best for last, our coordinator Delaney was the single most incredible human we worked with during our wedding planning. She dealt with all the logistics, talked with all of our vendors beforehand so I wasn’t really involved in any of the logistical stuff – she did it all! And she of course has an incredible team, everyone we worked with at the barns was fabulous, but Delaney went above and beyond to make sure everything went according to plan and made our vision for our wedding come to life. We are beyond grateful for the entire Barns of Kanak team – you made our wedding special, stress-free, beautiful, and a day we will never forget!

I cannot say enough about how amazing The Barns of Kanak is! The property is absolutely beautiful but it is the staff that truly make it the best venue of all. A month before our wedding (after planning all the fun stuff with our coordinator Delaney-who is AMAZING) the governor enforced the rule of gatherings of 25 people or less. The complete selflessness of the owners and the staff to do whatever it took to make our wedding day special despite the circumstances we faced, reassured David and I, that no matter what we would have our ideal wedding. If you are a bride looking for a venue, I promise you that this venue is the absolute best! The Barns has the cutest places for the bridesmaids and groomsmen to get ready, a million photo opportunities around the venue, a beautiful reception hall but most importantly the people who run the place are the most selfless, kind, loving and supportive people you could ever work with. They call to check in, let you know that they are praying for you and they listen. This venue and ALL of the staff, truly demonstrate the love of Christ to their Brides and Grooms. With every twist and turn that 2020 brought, we always felt like The Barns had our back and that we were in it together. We could not have had the wedding we did if not for their support, flexibility, understanding, and encouragement. Pandemic aside, The Barns provides excellent customer service, communication, and value. If we could do it all over again, we wouldn’t change a thing. And now that it’s over, we miss our Barns team so much!

We met Diane and Kylie during our initial tour and just loved them so much we booked the venue the next day. A huge part of our decision was their team, and how they actually spoke to both of us and not just me (the bride) as a lot of other venues we toured completely ignored my fiancé now husband. The venue speaks for itself, they give you unlimited options on where you can have the ceremony and reception, have both a bridal farmhouse AND a space for the groom/groomsmen which isn't always the case at a lot of venues, and access to all of their decor to use during your day, and 2 day of coordinators. There's so much space to use and work with, every spot is perfect for photos! Planning with COVID really shook things up, but Kylie was so kind and stayed in step with us while we tried to decide if we wanted to postpone or keep our date. They were supportive and flexible to our decision making, and truly wanted what was best for us. The day of, Delaney could not have done a better job. She was so calm and kept us on track the entire day. Their team is just unbelievable, they truly give you the wedding day experience, just incredibly organized, coordinated and patient. I'm a very type A person, and had a very specific vision for our floral, Delaney and team made it happen exactly how I wanted. Overall you can just feel the love that this team has for making weddings special, they care so much to make every wedding incredible for each couple and will run with any idea you have to make it unique. They really make you feel like one of their own, and for that alone you should hire the Barns.

Our wedding was August 9, 2020 and the barns was nothing short of amazing. Our wedding was a postponed wedding from May 30th and the barns worked with us to make sure we got fit back in to have our perfect day. This venue is absolutely beautiful from the farmhouse the bridal party gets to get ready in to the outdoors with the pool, grooms cottage, ceremony/reception barns. The venue is extremely helpful with planning your day and making sure it flows well. I did not have to stress about anything the day of the wedding and to me that was one of the most important things. The staff is great to work with and will answer any question you have at anytime. We highly recommend this venue!

Our wedding was August 9, 2020 and the barns was nothing short of amazing. Our wedding was a postponed wedding from May 30th and the barns worked with us to make sure we got fit back in to have our perfect day. This venue is absolutely beautiful from the farmhouse the bridal party gets to get ready in to the outdoors with the pool, grooms cottage, ceremony/reception barns. The venue is extremely helpful with planning your day and making sure it flows well. I did not have to stress about anything the day of the wedding and to me that was one of the most important things. The staff is great to work with and will answer any question you have at anytime. We highly recommend this venue!

The Barns of Kanak was the most perfect wedding venue for us. First of all, the venue is absolutely beautiful. It's very clear the though that has been put into each of the buildings that the guests and wedding party have access to and the grounds are very well kept. It was wonderful to have the flexibility of an indoor or outdoor ceremony, especially during winter weather, with an additional indoor space for the reception. Our wedding coordinator made sure everything ran extremely smoothly the day of so that we didn't have to worry about a thing. They have great connections with local vendors so that it's easy to pick what caterer, DJ, etc. to hire. Every detail is thought through which was so comforting for us. We wouldn't have changed a thing!

The Barns of Kanak was the most perfect wedding venue for us. First of all, the venue is absolutely beautiful. It's very clear the though that has been put into each of the buildings that the guests and wedding party have access to and the grounds are very well kept. Searching for a venue for one of the biggest days of your life is hard, it is a big decision. Let me tell you though - choosing the barns for our wedding was absolutely the best decision we could have made. The venue itself is beautiful, extremely well kept, and has options for both indoor and outdoor ceremony so you have zero stress the day of your wedding. On top of that, the staff is truly incredible. Kylie, the event manager/coordinator, was literally my saving grace. She helped me from the very start to the very end, without her I am not even sure I could have planned my wedding. She walks you through every step of the way! She is so organized, always on top of her game, efficient, responsive, thorough, and one of the nicest people I have met. She truly cares about you and making sure your vision is brought to life. Everything that a bride could want or need for her wedding. We got to work with the rest of the staff the weekend of our wedding and they all had no issue living up to the high bar Kylie set. We are so so thankful for this place and these people, we will cherish our day forever because of them!

The venue itself is beautiful, extremely well kept, and has options for both indoor and outdoor ceremony so you have zero stress the day of your wedding. Like the below reviews, I don't know where to start! Everything about this venue went above and beyond our expectations. The space itself is effortlessly gorgeous, which makes it easy to add minimal decorations. The venue has items on site from previous weddings that you can borrow for your big day - this was a huge plus for a budgeting bride! I felt like the space for the ceremony by the old barn, and the new barn for the reception were both a 10/10. Over and over our guests were telling us how beautiful it all was, especially after the sun set and all of the lighting on the buildings could be seen. For the service that Kylie/Diane provided, I seriously don't see our wedding day being as perfect as it was without them. From the very beginning they helped with organizing the day of, helping me stay on top of what needed to be done. If I had any questions, there was a quick response, and if I asked for advice it was genuinely given. On the day of they personalized our bride and groom cottages with our names and wedding date. Upon arrival there were mimosas and morning treats in the kitchen for the bridal party to share, along with a little gift - so heartfelt! Throughout the day they made all the transitions so seamless. I never felt like I didn't know what was going on, and there was always someone telling me where I needed to be and when - so I literally didn't need to think about anything except having a good time. If my husband and I wanted to push the time back a little to have some time to ourselves (we are so glad we did this!), or move something earlier, all I had to do was inform Kylie and she made it happen. In all seriousness I could not recommend the Barns of Kanak enough. There isn't one area I can say needs improvement or anything I can think of that they could have done better. It was a wonderful experience for us, and the perfect spot for us to start our life together. We are so grateful we found them!!

I cannot say enough about the staff at the Barns of Kanak. They really took the time to understand my vision for the day and they took off with it the day of. I was never nervous or worried about any of the details because I could tell and knew that Kylie, Diane, and other day of coordinators had it way under control! Delaney responds so quickly to your questions and messages that you wonder if she ever takes a day off!The rest of the staff is amazing too, our wedding day moved seamlessly and we didn’t have to worry about a thing! Everyone is so kind and was always looking to make our day the best it could possibly be. Our ceremony was outside against a beautiful backdrop and the reception barn was beautiful as well. When we were searching for wedding venues, we chose The Barns of Kanak because the McCormick family truly made us feel special. We could tell from the very beginning that they were not there to funnel couples through their venue and collect money, but instead, they were there to ensure you had the wedding day of your dreams! Throughout our wedding planning and especially on our wedding day, we learned that this was all very, very true! It was obvious from the beginning that the McCormick family cared about making our day beautiful, special, and stress free. Their communication leading up to the wedding was incredible, contacting me to ensure I was executing tasks and making decisions in time to have what I wanted (but also reassuring me when I didn't know what I wanted or had trouble making decisions). They always responded promptly when I had questions or needed advice!The day of the wedding was truly perfection, and I believe we owe a huge portion of that to The Barns of Kanak and the McCormick family!! The touches of kindness and generosity they demonstrated on that day went above and beyond anything I could have imagined! They ensured everything was organized and that vendors were speaking to each other to make sure the timeline flowed effortlessly. I can honestly say that day was stress free for me. There was not one thing I had to worry about because they had everything covered, and then some.The venue that day was breathtaking...the red barn and the reception barn...the groom's cottage and the bridal house...everything was spotless, but not sterile. They exuded a warm setting and an atmosphere of tranquility. The grounds were impeccable, with beautiful flowers and the most perfect setting for photographs. So many of our guests remarked on the beauty of the grounds and of the reception barn, many saying it was the most beautiful they'd ever seen at a wedding.I say all this to demonstrate that The Barns of Kanak is truly the most perfect venue I could have imagined...not only for the breathtaking views and the ease of getting ready on the property, but also because of the incredible family that owns it, their kind and generous hearts, and the time and touches they put in to making your day truly magical and the very best day of your life!

Diane and our wedding planner Delaney were so helpful with getting us through our planning. From start to finish they had every detail down so that it was one less thing for us to think about. There truly are no words to adequately describe how highly I recommend this venue and the amazing people who run it. Our big day was everything I've ever dreamed of and so much more. We truly owe it all to the tireless work ethic and dedication possessed by Tom, Diane, Kylie and Delaney.Tom and Diane are, without a doubt, the sweetest people you will ever meet. From the start, you will feel as though you have become a part of their family. The interest they have in your special day is genuine and they truly go out of their way to make sure every bride has the wedding of her dreams. They are the backbone of The Barns and you can instantly see how much pride they take in what they do.Kylie and Delaney are absolute saints. Our wedding at Barns of Kanak was a dream come true. We could not have picked a more beautiful place run by wonderful and friendly people. They added so many special touches to make the day truly spectacular. They were also so helpful in making sure our day ran smoothly. I didn’t have to worry about a thing. Kylie was even so friendly and helpful that she picked up a suit that didn’t come in until the day of our wedding and dropped all of the men’s outfits off the next day. If you’re looking for true friendship and people who treat you like family you won’t find any better place than the barns of Kanak! Kylie was even so friendly and helpful that she picked up a suit that didn’t come in until the day of our wedding and dropped all of the men’s outfits off the next day. If you’re looking for true friendship and people who treat you like family you won’t find any better place than the barns of Kanak! We had the perfect wedding, at The Barns Of Kanak. Tom and Diane were totally the best! They were very good with communication, and making sure my vision for my wedding day was to my liking. We went over ceremony and reception setup, where the DJ would be, when/how/where dinner was served, and were so supportive every step of the way! I can not thank Tom and Diane enough for allowing me to have the PERFECT wedding day. They both helped setup and clean up! They made sure when I was exiting the barn to walk down the isle the timing and the music were perfect! When my new husband and I were announced, they again, timed the doors to the DJ perfectly. The venue in itself is gorgeous! The firepit was lit and it set the party feel after the ceremony. The groomsmen loved their space to get ready, and us ladies had so much room to get ready in the farm house. it was VERY clean and VERY organized. My most favorite part of the venue is the flat, even, wide sidewalks all around to allow my handicapped guests to be able to go where they needed with ease. We truly can not thank Tom and Diane, and Kylie enough, for giving us the most perfect venue for the most amazing day! I will forever praise their time and care to make certain we had a great wedding!!!

I can not thank Tom and Diane enough for allowing me to have the PERFECT wedding day. They both helped setup and clean up! They made sure when I was exiting the barn to walk down the isle the timing and the music were perfect! When my new husband and I were announced, they again, timed the doors to the DJ perfectly. The venue in itself is gorgeous! The firepit was lit and it set the party feel after the ceremony. The groomsmen loved their space to get ready, and us ladies had so much room to get ready in the farm house. it was VERY clean and VERY organized. My most favorite part of the venue is the flat, even, wide sidewalks all around to allow my handicapped guests to be able to go where they needed with ease. We truly can not thank Tom and Diane, and Kylie enough, for giving us the most perfect venue for the most amazing day! I will forever praise their time and care to make certain we had a great wedding!!!

The Barns of Kanak is a place that will forever hold a special place in our hearts. This venue was all we could have ever asked for and more. It was within minutes of our hometown, which was a bonus when making sure our guests could enjoy the evening with us and make it home quickly and safely. IT IS ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS...I mean, look at these pictures! It was the perfect mix of rustic/glam, which was exactly the vibe we were going for. Most importantly, their staff. Within a month of booking our wedding with Kanak, we were informed that the venue was on the market for sale. After hearing this, you could only imagine the fear. To my surprise, a very close family friend, the McCormick's, were the new owners of The Barns of Kanak. An actual dream come true. Their family and team paid attention to each and every little detail on our special day and the weeks leading up. We never once had to worry about when to do this, where to go for that, who needs to tell this person this, how do I do that... we were cared for like royalty. Diane, thank you so much for caring for us with grace and for being a part of not only our wedding day but our lives. Kylie Hester, my high school dance company \"big sis\"/wedding coordinator, you are an angel. Thank you for being my leaning post and fairy godmother through the whole crazy wedding planning process, thank you for making pretty signs for our day, thank you for tending to each and every little detail, thank you for your friendship, thank you for everything. My husband and I could not thank the Barns of Kanak and their wonderful staff enough after our wedding in June. The venue itself is everything I ever imagined for my wedding day and is truly breath-taking. The farmhouse and groom's cottage were perfect for the bridal party to get ready in during the day. There are multiple options for ceremony sites, all of which are incredible. The \"rain\" site is a beautiful barn with drapes and a view of the field. I did not have to stress about whether it was going to rain on our wedding day because I knew that either site we chose was going to be perfect. So many of our guests commented on how they loved the venue, especially during the reception. Guests were able to dance in the reception barn, hang out by the fire pit, or be outside playing corn hole. Words can't describe how incredible the staff is at the Barns of Kanak. You can feel the love that Tom and Diane, the owners, put into the venue and each event they host. Kylie and Delaney were our day-of coordinators. From the start of the wedding planning process, they made everything fall into place so easily. They were communicative, easy going, and made sure to always focus on my own vision for the wedding day. The day-of, I was blown away by how everything came together and how smoothly the wedding went. Kylie and Delaney are so talented at what they do and I am so grateful for them. The entire staff allowed me to truly enjoy my wedding day without a single worry. We would recommend this venue to absolutely anyone!

We had our wedding yesterday at The Barns. Kylie and Delaney were fantastic through the entire process but I never imagined how perfect they would make everything for my day. My husband and I got married on a very rainy day in May. The venue was absolutely beautiful rain or shine, however they brought my outdoor vision to life inside of the beautiful barn! Then quickly got it ready for the reception. They also made sure everyone was escorted to the barn with umbrellas so my guest never felt a drop of rain! The grounds are beautiful and the owners were extremely helpful! I highly recommend The Barns of Kanak!

Man, where do I start? This venue was excellent on so many levels. The aesthetics, the venue's planners and day of coordinators, and all of the support staff--all of it came together to make the day special. Let me break it down further so you know what to expect if you book here: -When you visit, you’ll see right away why this venue is so popular. The Barns of Kanak is an old working farm with a rich family history that’s been repurposed as a down-to-earth location made just for your special day. I loved the old, rustic feel, and I was impressed that they didn’t sacrifice any practical touches in keeping the venue visually pleasing. There was plenty of space to take bride/groom/family photos as well as plenty of room for guests. It was very comfortable for the 140 people we had present the day of. -Kylie, the venue’s planner/timeline coordinator, was both helpful and empathetic. Every time she called, she was excited, attentive, and on top of things. She went to great lengths to coordinate with all of our other vendors so we didn’t have to worry about keeping tabs on everyone. Kylie came as a part of the venue, and she made every penny we paid worth it. -Diane & Katherine, the Barn’s day-of coordinators, made our timeline come to life and managed all the logistics with ease. I felt completely comfortable leaving everything in their hands, and in retrospect, I realized they went above and beyond in tending to every little detail. Post wedding, we realized that all the stuff my wife and I thought we forgot or left behind was noticed and managed by these two ladies – tucked away safely in our exit vehicle. Very thankful. -Along with that, there were several venue attendants available for everything: setup, parking, answering guest questions, assisting the bride and groom, bar tending, tear down, and even ensuring the wedding gifts made it into the proper vehicle. These staff members weren’t always seen, but again in hindsight, were much appreciated. As I think back, I realize how many people were on the flanks, prepared to handle anything we needed.One last very significant benefit to note: the venue and all of its attendants are very versatile when it comes to accommodating for inclement weather. In having a December wedding, we knew we’d want to keep a close eye on the forecast. Part of the reason we picked the Barns is because they had space to hold the ceremony indoors if it couldn’t be done outdoors. And sure enough, it came in handy. It ended up raining, and it gave us a chance to see the venue shine. Every member of the staff seemed prepared for this. They had the bride’s head under an umbrella every step of the way, and there was still plenty of coverage for all the guests to enjoy the day without getting wet.

Kylie Hester (Manager) Hey there! I'm the Client Experience Consultant here at The Barns, which means my main focus is helping you feel like a million bucks - not only on your wedding day, but also throughout your engagement and beyond. I also co-own our on-site bridal boutique, Leora Bridal, with my husband. My parents are the owners of the venue, and our family pours their hearts and souls into this place. I fell in love with weddings when I was planning mine back in 2017, which led me and my family here. When I'm not at The Barns, you can find me hiking with my dogs or exploring a new spot in RVA.
