The Baronette Renaissance Hotel Reviews
Maya Bobrovnikov(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-03-2022 We choose The Baronette based on its location to our ceremony and reception. We were able to book a hotel block and the Toasted Oak for a refreshment hour. The staff was always kind to us and our guests. It was a cleanly, decently fancy hotel that met our guests' needs. Esther Edwards(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 31-12-2021 Oh boy was this a wild ride. We started planning at the hotel back in 2019 before covid and covid made us delay to NYE of 2021. Our original day of coordinator quit earlier last year and Jamal was brought on. Can I just say as a type A very anxious bride, Jamal brought me a sense of calm and was very accommodating. I cannot thank him enough for the the flexibility and professionalism! It was SO worth it to have our wedding here! Reviewed on 06-01-2022
Elizabeth Kirsch(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 23-10-2021 Jamal at the Baronette was wonderful to deal with! Excellent attention to detail, not only for our ceremony/reception, but for the entire weekend. The Baronette did an excellent job accommodating our many out of town guests and family members. The Baronette has a wonderful, homey feel that not all hotels offer. Reviewed on 04-12-2021
Paula B(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-07-2020 I was disappointed by the staff at the Baronette when I was planning my wedding reception. Understandably, COVID wreaked havoc on the wedding industry last year. However, the staff did not advocate for their couples as much as many other venues did. Because of COVID restrictions last year, I ended up moving my reception date to June of 2021. However, the staff was very hesitant to allow 2020 couples to postpone last year. Back in April 2020, I discussed my concerns with not being able to have a large event in July. However, the staff's answer at the time was, \"The Governor only has the stay at home order in place through the end of May. There isn't any indication that your event cannot happen in July.\" At the time, they were expecting me to host my event as planned and pay full price even if there was a guest limit due to the state's restrictions. I explained it was not fair to me that I would still be expected to pay for 150 guests even if I wasn't allowed to have that many, and I explained how no one wants to go through and uninvite guests. So I asked if I could postpone my date to sometime in 2021. Their answer was that if I did, I would have to sign a new contract and pay full price and would still be responsible for the 2020 event fees as well. They didn't understand my concerns of hosting a large event in a pandemic (and also not understanding that it wasn't likely any place could go from being completely closed down to hosting an event of 100+ people in a month's time). It wasn't until mid-May when the governor extended the stay at home order thru mid-June 2020 that they allowed their couples to postpone their dates without having to pay for 2 events. So after I secured a new date, I was hopeful for better luck in 2021. Unfortunately, there were still a lot of restrictions. I don't blame the Baronette for what was going on, but I was disappointed the staff wasn't doing more to come up with alternatives for their couples. When I reached out to them in October and November to ask about suggestions for how to modify my event in case restrictions were still in place, their answer was, \"We have to see what the governor says.\" In other words, they just wanted to assume that things would be better by the time my event got closer. But you can't assume that with something like a wedding reception since many details have to be made in advance. I get it that everything depends on the state's rules, but I was disappointed they weren't actively trying to come up with solutions for their couples to have a safe, modified event. Friends of mine getting married in 2021 told me how staff members at their venues were already coming up with alternatives for the 2021 wedding season last fall in case restrictions were still in place, such as having a tent outside or offering to bring their catering staff to an offsite outdoor location. Back in December, I inquired about having a tent outside in the parking lot, and someone at the Baronette reached out to one tent rental company. However, I was expected to cover the entire cost, and it was not in my price range. I ended up canceling my June event back in March since indoor events were still limited to 15 people with no indication of when this would change. I'm grateful the Baronette staff respected my decision. Many restrictions were just lifted, but I still recommend 2022 couples look at places that offer indoor and outdoor accommodations in case restrictions are implemented again. Good luck. Alyssa Churchwell(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-02-2020 I cannot say enough good things about this venue and the people who work there. We had our reception here last Saturday, and everything was absolutely wonderful. I planned our wedding from Washington DC, and Lynsie was so incredibly accommodating throughout the entire process. Amazingly professional and sincere service from the entire team - not to mention, our banquet lead Kasey (I'm SO hoping I spelled her name right) was there at our last meeting and also stopped into our rehearsal dinner to check in. Lupe also made sure my husband and I ate, and always had the right drink. Everyone handled our (rowdy) crowd so professionally and courteously, and we were surprised by a wonderful gift from the events crew when we got up to our suite at the end of the night. We are still getting compliments from guests about the incredible service and delicious food. I couldn't recommend these wonderful people more! Not only did the lobby have a cozy feel for pictures, but we received a great rate for our guests to be able to stay at the hotel. Having our ceremony and reception all at one locations was super convenient, especially since there was a little snow. The service we received before, during and after our wedding was excellent. Lynsie, the wedding coordinator, made sure all our questions were answered and that everything was planned to a T. Kacy, the catering supervisor, was there the day of our wedding to make sure everything was coordinated and executed perfectly. She truly went above and beyond to make us feel special and she made sure everything was taken care of on our wedding day.On top of the excellent service by all the Baronette staff, the rooms were clean and up to date, the food/drinks were amazing and the overall feel of our wedding was elegant and classy - just like we wanted.I would recommend the Baronette to any bride! Samantha Reese(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-08-2019 I've been really conflicted about leaving this review, because while the end result of our August 2019 wedding was nice, and our guests were impressed by the looks of the venue, to be perfectly honest, I wish I could have a do-over of the day, but at a different venue. Working with Courtney was pretty much a breeze. Her level of communication was good (responded relatively quickly to emails, answered calls/returned calls in a timely fashion, usually had a good attitude/demeanor, etc.), and if there was a problem, she always responded in a proactive vs reactive fashion. The problem came in one I had to have unexpected surgery in April. I'm a breast cancer survivor, and at that time, I was barely a year into my survivorship, and anyone who has been down this road, knows that it's not over just because you've gotten the \"cancer free\" clearance. Because this survey was so unexpected, it completely gut punched our finances, putting a strain on EVERYTHING. My mom stepped in to help, and in doing so, she reached out to Courtney to let her know what was going on. Courtney alerted the general manager, Jeff Reick, to the situation. I firmly believe that she did so, not only because of what I'm sure was company protocol, but to figure out what can be done to keep things moving forward. THIS was when working with The Baronette became one of the biggest headaches of my life. Jeff made of abundantly clear that he didn't care about what I was going through (I have this in writing), that he wasn't going to make things easier for me with the payments, and if I didn't pay on HIS terms, he was more than happy to cancel my event. From April to July (because we heard absolutely nothing from him after paying the venue OFF, which told me he got immense pleasure in being a complete and utter [insert colorful descriptor here] to us), our dealings with The Baronette were no longer exciting, as they were before, but had become a source for raised blood pressure and migraines. By the time our wedding weekend came around, I was more looking forward to it being over and never having to have any communications with the venue ever again (which is why I waited so long before leaving this review). It completely changed how I felt about one of the most important days of my life? If I had to do it all over again, I would've gone with a different venue. Oh, this is also on top of my husband and I not receiving to go plates of our dinner like I'd asked, and the extremely awkward placement of the entrance, being juxtaposed to the aisle (per the venue's planning), which made our aisle walk very.....well, awkward.Needless to say, I was mildly dissatisfied with my wedding day, and it has been bothering me for months. Katie D(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-12-2019 We booked with the Baronette for our ceremony, hotel block, and brunch the day after our wedding. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff! We had sixty out-of-town guests and every single one of them felt welcomed and personally helped with all of their needs. We didn't have to do a thing during our wedding weekend - Lynsie had absolutely everything covered perfectly and was extremely helpful both before and during the weekend. Kimberly Dunlap(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-11-2019 From the moment we first walked into the Hotel Baronette for out first wedding consultation, I was impressed by the quality of customer service; from the front desk to our coordinator to even the manager, who we were simply strangers to. The time and attention put forth by the staff during the planning process was endless. A million questions could be asked and they never wavered. They were always timely on answering emails and never missed a detail. The day of our wedding, we ran into a decoration disaster, and the hotel saved us just hours before our ceremony! I will never forget that. The set up came out exactly how I pictured it too. It was a wonderful experience and I would do my wedding day over in a heartbeat! Highly recommend this hotel for any wedding! Reviewed on 16-11-2019
Emily Foster(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-10-2019 We booked this venue a year in advance for it seemed perfect. The hotel was mostly able to accommodate all of our requests. Our wedding three weeks ago turned out beautifully. I loved how close everything was together. My husband and I had our ceremony outside and the reception indoors. I greatly appreciated the timely set-up and \"quiet\" removal of ceremony chairs to place them in the reception area. The day of ran quiet smoothly. The staff was wonderful and polite and very organized. My only issue is that our previous coordinator had moved on to pursue another job and our new coordinator caused us a great deal of stress. We ended up confused and way over our original budget. It felt like we had to re-plan the whole wedding again. On top of that communication was poor. Two weeks prior to the wedding we were still working things out and I could not get in touch with our coordinator. We had to call managers etc. to get a-hold of her. Majority of things were left unclear and we got a hefty price to pay for it too. If we would have known that this was going to occur we would have went with another venue. Reviewed on 29-10-2019

Rebecca Parrish(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-04-2019 Choosing the Baronette Renaissance was the best choice we could have made regarding our wedding, aside from choosing each other. From the moment we contacted the venue to find out if our date was available, we were in the best hands possible. We ended up hosting almost every part of our weekend at the venue from the final days preparations (which felt more like a mini-pre-wedding vacation) through the send off brunch the day after. Every part of planning and execution was nothing short of impeccable. The staff was top notch in every department, from event planning, to catering, to the banquet servers and bartenders. They made sure every detail was attended to, and made our wedding weekend everything we could have dreamed of and more. Every need and want was met, or a creative option was offered, and often they were meeting needs and wants in advance of us even thinking of it. Everyone was warm, welcoming and professional. It was like we hired a very capable team of friends and family once the by the time the weekend was underway. The vast majority of our guests stayed at the hotel, and we only heard over the top compliments for the accommodations from everyone. The guest rooms are high quality, up to date, and modern yet homey. The suites were exactly what we needed to have both a groom and bride space to get ready, as well as gather with friends and family. The bridal suite also made for the perfect wedding night to soak in the joy and love of the day together as Mr. & Mrs. We ate practically every meal in the onsite restaurant, Toasted Oak, and the in room food service for day of meals was perfect. They even put together a breakfast to go for the bridal party since we were getting our hair done off site. We were able to join our early arrival guests in the lobby, which is more like a big cozy family room, after rehearsal dinner to visit and spend time before the bustle of the big day, and enjoy some of the vast selection of wines that Toasted Oak offers. We still have wedding guests raving about the food at our wedding reception, and we were even able to create a custom salad to start off the meal. The venue even made our wedding cake, and it was above and beyond (as was everything) as well as cost effective. We even made a change the week of the wedding, and it was effortless. The design was beautiful and exactly what we wanted, all built from the most delicious cake. I’ve even had a couple of friends try to replicate it for family birthdays, since they said it was “some of the best cake they’ve ever had”.The hotel feels more like a home away from home, and was perfect for us since we love to host get-togethers at our home. It was easy to transition that level of hospitality to our guests for the weekend, since the space and staff are so warm and welcoming. The versatility of the space and flexibility and creativity of staff made it so our day felt like an extension of us as a couple. The love of the day came through in every way. This team and the venue are impeccable. We truly feel that it is rare to find this level of excellence balanced with such a professional and personable staff. We will definitely be back to visit, and plan to celebrate anniversaries and milestones to come. Thank you Renaissance Baronette from the bottom of our hearts! They catered to all our needs and there was one hiccup during the night, but they took care of it. It is a slightly more expensive place to have a wedding, but worth every penny. The planning process was easy and fun with Jessica. Every meeting we were greeted with a special gift. The day of the wedding arrived and everything was perfect, the food, the drinks, the setup, the staff. I highly recommend The Baronette for any couple looking for a hotel setting wedding. Prior to booking there, we scoured the Internet and viewed multiple venues. The price for a Saturday wedding at the Baronette was nearly half of what the majority of venues cost, which actually worried me as I thought maybe it reflected a lesser venue. I was wrong, not only was it a great value, but it was a great experience! \r\rWe met with Amber the first day, and her enthusiasm and energy were contagious throughout the wedding planning process. We worked with Jessica to plan the wedding and she was fantastic! She always responded quickly and was able to accommodate any request we made, even after the event when we had questions. Casey Hurst(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 19-09-2015 This is a very nice hotel, and overall my experience was good. Anytime I needed something in my room, the housekeeping and service staff were right on it. They brought me bar stools for our makeup session, a huge fan, and other things we needed that I didn't expect them to be able to provide. They were very friendly as well. The restaurant at the hotel is absolutely amazing as well. I only had a few issues with the front desk staff. First, when I arrived I had a bridesmaid dress, my wedding dress, and a ton of bags. I asked for a luggage cart and they plainly told me that there were none available. I explained I had a lot, and especially didn't want to drag my dress on the floor, and they didn't offer to go get one for me or anything. They offered to have a staff member help carry it up, which I appreicated, but I just felt like...I am staying in the most expensive suite in this hotel. I deserve a luggage cart. Also, my mom had requested the room next to ours, and they ended up giving it away to someone else which was very inconvenient for us as we got ready because she couldn't even get on our floor at that point. I am not sure why they thought that was okay. But despite that, I would stay here again. Reviewed on 22-09-2015

Saturday was the wedding. The venue, service, atmosphere was wonderful. Amber made sure everything was carried out as planned. Huge relief for a bride. We also had a fun brunch the next day at the hotel. Unique menu items which the guests enjoyed. The best part was taking up about 60 of the rooms in the hotel. Everyone was so unbelievably kind and did anything and everything to cater to my husband and me. Let me tell you how:\rThey made sure we had appetizers and drinks for all of the bridal party out in the lobby, brought us (and my parents) drinks while the bar was closed for an hour, made sure everything was perfect upon guests arrival, accommodated my friends who had to stay another night with giving them our room rate, made sure all the presents/cards got safely back to our room, packed up our leftovers from dinner and gave us a whole new meal as well, allowed my dog to stay with my parents for free (usually a $200 fee), accommodated reservations at Toasted Oak for my 20 family members, allowed my drunk friends to continue to party in the lobby until 4am, had a nice present waiting for us in our room, notified us as soon as more rooms were available for the guests (the hotel was originally all booked, but thanks to Diahna, we were able to have all of our guests stay!) and gave me free tea in the morning (hey, it's the small stuff!) \rThe venue itself is beautiful and the staff is so helpful. I had been reassured for months that everything would go smoothly, that every detail had been noted, and sadly things did not go well. It was as if they had never run an event before. j screener(wedding party)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-11-2012 I was disappointed. The set-up of the ballroom was beautiful. Amber and her staff followed my intense instructions beautifully. Unfortunately, the food fell beyond flat. My husband and I were so excited and thrilled with the results at the tasting for our menu. The presentation was exceptional, the steak was thick and juicy(we did not choose filet, both my husband and I have worked in the restaurant/bar business for many years and we know filet is one of the hardest to cook to order for big groups at one given time) as well as the chicken. All the sides were absolutely amazing along with the hors d'oeuvres. When our wedding day came, the food was awful- set up, presentation, and taste. The hors d'oeuvres we ordered were half put together. At dinner, the salad we chose was put on the worst salad plate ever. The salad itself had 4 leaves, one walnut, and if you were lucky you received an apple slice. This type/size of servings stayed throughout the meal. The side dishes and both types of entrees looked as if they were measured out in 2 tablespoon increments. Now let me say, at the tasting my husband and I specifically asked if the portion size and presentation we were having now would be repeated at the wedding and we were told in fact it would be. Sadly, ALL of the food was not. There were a few other minor issues that happened as well that was not appreciated and did not have anything to do with the food. The bottom line is that we chose this venue on high merit and that the food was amazing, and it was not. The food was extremely production. Also, our guest count for the wedding was roughly 150 people. As far as Im concerned, this is what your venue does, is to cater to big groups of people at any one given time. You should be producing high quality food no matter how big the group size. No questions. My husband and I were shocked and saddened by the results. It was almost as if we received a completely different dinner for our wedding from the tasting we had two months prior. I felt embarrased that I talked up the menu/food so much to our friends and family and then it fell flat. Unfortunately we would not recommend this venue to anyone unless they get a new chef and/or kitchen staff. The venue is really beautiful and Amber, the wedding coordinator was great.
