Paulina Miller(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-09-2022 I loved getting married at the Bear Mountain Inn. Valerie was incredibly helpful in planning the wedding, and did a great job giving us advice without pushing us toward anything. She was incredibly kind and knowledgeable and made our wedding go so smoothly! I had a lovely bridal suite that was very comfortable for my entire bridal party to have hair and makeup done while eating and hanging out. I loved taking photos at the Merry Go Round. All the rooms for our wedding were beautiful and felt cozy despite having over 100 people, and the food was delicious. My husband even got in a short hike to see the foliage on the morning of our wedding! I'm so glad we chose to get married here. Reviewed on 29-12-2022

From the moment we first hiked at Bear Mountain to touring the venue for wedding options we fell in LOVE with the space and atmosphere with Tracey! Having Tracey with us through the planning process to the actual big day, she was incredible to work with! Having our wedding at Bear Mountain Inn was our Wedding Day dream come true. It’s timeless elegance and naturally rustic feel was everything we wanted for our big day. From the moment we walked out of our tour with Valerie, we couldn’t see ourselves not having our wedding there. Valerie and Gia were beyond amazing guiding us through our entire planning process with nothing but positivity and kindness. Whenever I was freaking out or overthinking, they reassured it would all work out and be taken care of. We were a little surprised that our after party didn’t take place in the entire restaurant of 1915, rather a side room and bar, but we it was still worth it. If you choose to have your wedding here, you will be in great hands and won’t be disappointed. Not to mention, a month later and people are still raving about the food. Also, choose Caked Up! Cafe for your choice of wedding cake bakery. Denise is LOVELY! If there is one thing that we felt should be provided or offered as part of a wedding package is a shuttle service to and from the Main Inn to the Stone Cottages + Overlook Lodge, especially at after a night of partying and having to navigate back to their hotel. If I could give it 0 stars I would, we went yesterday for an appointment with Gia, but we instead met with Valerie who off the bat seemed incredibly disinterested in being there. Throughout the whole appointment, we only heard what they can't do instead of what they can do, or blaming rigidity on corporate. The base chairs are horrible looking and the extra $3500 does not give any sort of feel of being \"all-inclusive.\" We were shown more of the restaurant than the after-party area which was incredibly disappointing since it led us to believe we would have the gorgeous area to use instead of a very basic and small bar area, requiring a minimum of 125 for a wedding and then offering an after party that could barely fit 50 people comfortably is inexcusable. Having gone to Bear Mountain Lodge my whole life, and my parents before me this was a sad and disappointing experience that has left a bad taste in my mouth. Gorgeous area as always but Valerie is one of the worst people I have ever had the misfortune of working with in any field. Her snide remarks and lackadaisical attitude were the worst of it, after being disappointed with what was \"offered\" and voicing concerns with how little there was instead of solutions we were met with an under the breath \"Well maybe this isn't the venue for you.\" I will let that speak for itself. After two wonderful tours (one of which happened earlier that morning) at other locations that gave a full rundown of what was offered including bonuses and deals, we heard nothing from Valerie except added fees and hidden costs. The most we heard about anything is \"Sorry that's just how it goes\" Reviewed on 24-05-2023

Thanks again! There was also Jordan, he helps us during the reception so much and was a pleasure to deal with. I don’t remember the names of the bartenders or the other staff but every single person was just wonderful and so helpful. During check in for me, the hotel staff was pleasant and helpful. The spa is where my bridal party had our hair and make up done. Annatte was amazing in handling my anxiety and the 11 girls we had there for services. Marissa was my make up artist during my trial and my wedding day. I would recommend her to anyone! She was absolutely amazing. She took her time and answered all my questions and did an amazing job. I can’t remember the hair dressers name but she was great too! I came in on my wedding day with no idea of how I wanted my hair. She was patient and kind. We did have a small hiccup with my mothers make up. Another make up artist did her make up and she wasn’t happy with it. Annatte sprung into action and had it fixed in no time. From the start Valerie our coordinator from the venue was hands on and super helpful, she was always accessible and there to answer questions as needed. She helped contact vendors closer to the date also and really helped it feel as seamless as possible. Day of she was very caring and helpful, she really makes you feel like your wedding is super important to her. The food was good, the price is a little steep but for such a beautiful venue and backdrop its worth it. Downside also is that since its a public park you get a lot of random people on the grounds, we had to wait long to get into the parking lot and had to park super far down. (same for my guests) Would be much better if they had a lot for guests of wedding and wedding party. Especially for the price we pay, its a premium price, just felt like we should not be walking for 10 minutes from the car with tons of stuff to be getting inside the building. Other than that that was our only complaint. Thanks again to bear mountain. Reviewed on 11-08-2022

Our vendors found Bear Mountain easy to work with, and the entire weekend was so wonderful for us. Continental breakfast the next day was also delightful! From our first visit wandering around and meeting Alysa, who became our coordinator, to our wedding reception and farewell breakfast - we loved our experience with Bear Mountain! We hosted our wedding in the ballroom and had our wedding ceremony & cocktails on-site as well. Having an on-site coordinator was a huge help with everything - finding vendors, food selections, decor, logistics. So many vendors we met with had wonderful experience working at this venue and were familiar with the property - which helped as we were not from the immediate area. Having a venue with in-house catering made the food experience easy - the gourmet selections were amazing, our guests raved over the food at both the cocktail hour and reception. Service was amazing for the wedding- we had 120 people and no one waited in line at the bar! It was also great to have a venue that allowed for an on-site after party in the bar as we had many guests staying on-property. We were able to host a farewell breakfast as well. The only advice I can give it to make sure you know how you want to layout the room as it makes a huge difference to be able to discuss with vendors and, if you use the spa, make sure you are hyper organized because there was a lot of confusion (even though the hair stylist and makeup artist were AMAZING!!! Genine Doddo(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-10-2021 This venue is horrible! Only reason why I am giving 2 stars is bc Alysa and Tracey are wonderful! This venue is so poorly run. Customer service is 0/10 . Absolutely no communication between anyone. You’re going to want to book it bc the views and the venue is stunning but it’s not worth the stress and tears!! Here’s what went wrong:1. They DOUBLE BOOKED my wedding date. Wanted me to change my date after I signed my contract and I hired all my vendors and made all deposits. Then they asked me “ if I just wanted to cancel my wedding ? “ Signing a contract means nothing to them. They hardly follow it. I had to sign about 5 contracts bc they kept making mistakes. 2. I was allotted a certain amount of rooms for my guests that were WRITTEN AND SIGNED IN MY CONTRACT. Then they told me they gave those rooms away to the Saturday wedding. My ENTIRE family had to be moved to a different location.*** Originally they told us if we get married on a Friday we get these rooms allotted Thursday and Friday night BUT if we get married on Saturday, we will NOT be allotted these rooms Friday bc the Friday wedding gets dibs. Sooo we chose to get married Friday and they STILL gave our rooms away to the Saturday wedding. 3. The front desk does not know how to function! They can not make reservations. I would have to call on behalf of my guests ALL THE TIME to fix issues. They also take days to return messages. They had my family under multiple room reservations when they only needed one room booked. Luckily they did not get charged for these extra rooms bc I kept on top of them. 4. The day I checked in I was supposed to get the bridal suite in rm 315 and they told me they gave to the Saturday bride ! meanwhile my wedding was on Friday. Instead of giving me the large suite for Friday ( my wedding day) and then giving it to the Saturday bride on Saturday (her wedding day) they gave it to the Saturday bride Thursday ,Friday and Saturday ! And gave me the smaller suite after arguing with them for 2 hours. 5. Valerie ( one of the wedding coordinators ) THREW AWAY MY WEDDING CAKE AND MY CAKE TOPPER THAT WAS PERSONALLY MADE on Etsy. Valerie, Gia, ( both wedding coordinators) and Saif (the GM ) are horrible. They did not help alleviate any issues. They did not care at all how many times I got screwed from them. Gia and Valerie will just stare at you while you’re making legitimate complaints and then they disappear and send someone else to try to fix the problem. Gias way of fixing the fact that they threw away my topper was “ oh we will let you pick out one from our gift shop” like what kind of answer is that? My topper cost me $60 and their stupid cheap statues were like $10 and none of them were actually wedding toppers just statues of bears. 6. Our banquet captain was nice but don’t expect to see her through out the night. We saw her maybe twice. Once In the beginning and once at the end to collect her tip. Didn’t come up to us once to ask if there is something she can do for us. Every time we needed something we had to ask a server. ***Alysa and Tracey were the only saving grace at that place and they both deserve to work somewhere better. Alysa my wedding coordinator is so lovely, organized and attentive. She is also prompt with emails. Tracey- who wasn’t even my coordinator is buying me a new topper and cake !! Gia sent Tracey after she didn’t want to help me. Gia went and hid in her office and sent Tracey to alleviate the issue which she did! Reviewed on 20-10-2021
Jillian Davis(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-07-2021 We had our wedding this weekend at Bear Mountain Inn and everything went perfectly. We toured Bear Mountain Inn toward the beginning of our engagement and ended up comparing everything else we saw to it. It had everything we wanted; a beautiful outdoor ceremony space, a natural and open reception ballroom (we got married at the Inn), and places for our family and bridal party to stay. We were so fortunate to work with Alysa, who helped guide us from tour to the day after our wedding. She was incredibly communicative, helpful, and sweet. We also worked with Gia and Mina at different parts of our journey. Everyone at Bear Mountain Inn was incredible. A few highlights:-Bear Mountain feels like a destination wedding without being far from home. Our guests were able to enjoy all of the amenities of Bear Mountain State Park and stay on property in one of their 3 options for accommodations. -We were able to have our rehearsal dinner on site at the Merry Go Round Pavilion. Our guests were thrilled with the casual BBQ dinner (the catering menu is extensive!) and working carousel. It was a unique and memorable dinner to say thank you to our bridal party and family. -Bear Mountain Inn has a spa where all of my girls and I got ready. They did an amazing job on all of the hair and makeup. We also got massages the day after our wedding, which were incredible. -The food was delicious! Our guests were really happy with our options and BMI was even able to offer a vegan option for our guests.-We were able to host a morning after breakfast for our guests who stayed over. -The bridal suite! The pictures on their website don’t do this beautiful space justice. We booked it for the evening before our wedding as well and it made the perfect place for the bridesmaids to relax and get ready for the wedding. It was also included in our package for us the night of our wedding. A couple things to keep in mind:-It’s a state park and there may be people around during your wedding. It was not disruptive at all and didn’t bother us, but its something we didn’t consider before we booked. We are so grateful to Alysa and the whole staff at Bear Mountain Inn. Thank you for the perfect wedding weekend! Reviewed on 14-07-2021
Sandra Verdugo(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-03-2021 My now husband and I had admired the views at Bear Mountain for awhile. A year ago we had looked at their rates for a wedding and it was out of our budget... Due to COVID our venue closed & we were grateful to be able to explore Bear Mountain. Due to the loss of business Bear Mountain had, they created special elopement packages. It was ideal for us to be married in this magical space with our most loved ones (restrictions in place.) Mina Park helped us plan our wedding in 3 months and what started off as an elopement became a beautiful intimate wedding with 30 guests at the Overlook Lodge. Mina helped us book group rates for my party as most of us stayed the day before at the Lodge. She also let us decorate the space the day before. She really pays attention to detail and addresses any concerns or wishes from connecting you to vendors, your seating, rehearsal, etc. The day of my wedding it was about a 3 and a half hour event, including the ceremony, cocktail hour, buffet style entrees and unlimited drinks (wine and beer.) We were allowed to have a parents dance and first dance as a married couple. Now restrictions are lifting and I believe you are allowed to dance. Still- we loved that due to no dancing we paid more attention to the guests. It was a once in a lifetime experience and what is even better is that we can always come back to remember the night. I definitely recommend. Also, will say as a tip to make sure you reach out to their spa/salon for massages, hair, nails and makeup asap as they get booked! Reviewed on 23-04-2021

My husband and I got married at the merry-go-round pavilion at bear mountain inn on 11/28/2020. Our biggest concern was keeping everyone safe; the safety guidelines were fantastic, tables were spread out and they go by the NYS rule of 50 people and no dancing. They currently have a buffet style dinner and have the servers who are gloved and have mask handing the food out, so no one else is touch the spoon. Everyone felt comfortable. Mina allowed for us to come up the day before to decorate the space, her attention to detail was phenomenal and she helped so much! Bear Mountain (and specifically Valerie our venue coordinator) made this whole uneasy process comforting and seamless! We had specifically booked the Bear Mountain Carousel location (it's an indoor space used during the day as part of the state park for carousel rides open to the public). Think carousel area by the Brooklyn Bridge but far more enchanting. At night, it turns into a wedding venue where guests can have tables around the carousel and ride it as part of the special day's fun. Even before disaster struck, they were accomodating with requests on menu substitutions and tastings, always ready to answer our questions, and allow you to pay by credit card (ladies- use this option to get cash back or points towards your honeymoon!). I could not have imagined any other venue being this great. While we are not doing a wedding with the venue, we will definitely be using them for future events. I am normally very critical of customer service as many places/vendors miss the mark, but rest assured Bear Mountain is not one of those places! We went through so many locations when picking a venue and this one fulfilled every category - rustic chic, convenience of hotel on premises, beautiful scenery for pictures, and excellent service. I wholeheartedly recommend them! Reviewed on 18-08-2020

Angela Perrone(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-11-2019 It’s hard to find all of the words to describe how incredibly amazing the Bear Mountain Wedding experience was. They really made the day the best day of our lives. From the moment I sat down on our tour with Valerie, it was clear that this was where we would get married. She took care of everything right from the start - and not just wedding details and planning, but throughout the process she took amazing care of us and really made us feel special and welcome. Together with Gia & Alyssa, they removed any stress, worry or chaos about weddings, which is a pretty impossible feat. Mina is another team member who wasn’t part of our wedding planning but somehow she managed to be part of it and make the experience that much greater. What I am saying is - that entire team is absolute FIRE and you can rest easy in their hands. They are a FANTASTIC crew from from front desk to the kitchen. The chef is OUTSTANDING. The food is INCREDIBLE. The space is GORGEOUS and everything about every moment is WARM and WONDERFUL. On the day of it felt as though the team were part of our family. Everything was smooth and as care free as a wedding day can be. And for that I am eternal grateful and recommend this team for your wedding, events, or for any occasion or emergency! They’ve got your back. (Valerie is a saint!)Whatever wedding dream you have, they bring it to life. All the stars. The venue was gorgeous and we loved the accessibility of having the ceremony and reception all in the same place. The scenery was breathtaking especially with the changing seasons. It was also really convenient to have our hair and makeup done right in the Spa. Mina Park was our point person for everything throughout the planning process and she could not have been more helpful and accomodating with our requests. She gave us great thoughts and insights. The day before and day of our wedding she was a Rockstar. When we would become flustered or overwhelmed she was there to help us think things through and she even found my husbands glasses when he misplaced them! We also had the pleasure of working with Mina, Gia, and Antionette who also are gems!! The ceremony was beautiful, the cocktail hour and reception was equally gorgeous. We even had rehearsal dinner there. The spectacular outdoor grounds, the perfect lodging, the incredible food, thoughtful party room structure, but most of all…THE GRACIOUS STAFF. From housekeeping to front desk, from wait staff to chef (Armando), from barkeeps to catering (Gia), we could not have been happier. Gabi Chillemi(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 19-01-2019 Where do we begin? As a wedding photographer’s wife, I have seen so many photos of different weddings and heard horror stories of venues simply not living up to a bride and groom’s expectations. My husband assured me that the Bear Mountain Inn was one of the venues that time and again did live up to the expectations every time he photographed a wedding there.Without Mina, our coordinator; Rich, our maître d; and their staff our wedding day would not have gone as perfectly as it did. There was a snowstorm the day of the wedding, which led to plenty of issues and stress, including guests and our shuttle company cancelling last minute. This is where Mina really exceeded our expectations and kept me from having a breakdown on my wedding day. With so many things seeming to go wrong at once that were totally out of anyone’s control, she somehow found a way to calm me down and take control of any and everything we needed. Mina went above and beyond to make sure she found a new shuttle company for us to work with the night before our wedding, hired extra staff to be available in case others couldn’t make it in with the storm, and seamlessly rearranged tables to accommodate for the last minute cancellations from a handful of our guests. She and her staff even slept over the night of the wedding to continue working into the morning hours to make sure our wedding was as perfect as possible. I was given the freedom to design the reception space as I pleased, and my vision was executed flawlessly by the staff. We even booked one of the rooms downstairs at the Inn for our rehearsal dinner because we love the look and feel of the entire space – not to mention the incredible food. Everywhere you look it’s inviting, cozy, and romantic, which is exactly what we had in mind for our wedding weekend. We could not recommend the Bear Mountain Inn enough for a wedding venue. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! Reviewed on 26-02-2019
Patricia D'Amato(parent)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-12-2018 I was in the car the other day with my daughter, and I said to her, \"Out of all the venues we considered for your wedding, I am so happy you and Jim chose the Bear Mountain Inn!\" The reception was just amazing; our guests are still talking about it. From the beginning, we appreciated the setting, and we knew it would look even more beautiful in December. We worked with Valerie who ensured that all of our needs were met and went over and above to help in the planning of the day. She made sure that any concerns were taken care of, and we were comforted to have her on site for any last minute needs and questions. Alysa assisted us in touring the hotel facilities so we knew where our guests would be staying and was also helpful through the whole process. At the cocktail hour and reception, the food was plentiful and delicious. The staff was friendly, courteous, and eager to please. The ballroom is spacious, and the dance floor was large enough for our guests to dance freely. We were very happy that we could have an after party in the lounge and then enjoy the guest brunch there in the morning. The convenience of being able to stay on property was an added plus. Chelsea Frasier(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-12-2018 Our wedding at Bear Mountain was absolutely magical. We knew at our first consultation that this was the venue for us. The property alone is breathtaking in a rustic chic way, surrounded by nature nestled next to the Hudson River. Their holiday decorations are beautiful and create such an exciting and happy ambiance (And essentially does half the decorating work for you!) We had a Welcome Party in lieu of a rehearsal dinner Friday night at the Overlook Lodge. Guests commented that could very well have been the wedding considering how beautiful the setting was and how great the food was. It also put less pressure on us to greet every single guest Saturday at the wedding because you have a chance to mingle beforehand. The wedding was Saturday at the Inn and it was just about perfect. Everything was organized and decorated perfectly to our expectations. We didn't even need an actual rehearsal because Mina and Laurie were so calm and directing us as we went. The rooms were spacious and nice. I believe both the Lodge and Inn have been renovated in recent years. ALL of our guests commented on how amazing the food was from cocktail hour to dinner. The only real issues we had were that there are limited rooms available because it's not a huge hotel so we had to try and accommodate guests elsewhere (Also not uncommon, but just difficult for us to keep track of who was where and half our guests were from Michigan). Mina is a sweetheart to work with, but difficult at times to reach because she's really a one-woman show. We hope she gets more support soon! There were minor miscommunication issues between different vendors, but that's not unheard of and they were resolved in a timely manner. This is a reflection on how professional and experienced Mina and Laurie are. We will forever think fondly of our wedding and love that we can go there anytime we want to enjoy the park and everything they have to offer. Reviewed on 21-12-2018

The renovations are needed as it old and rustic, but they are renovating. The main room is spectacular and has been renovated. The grounds are awesome for picture taking. The rooms are so so and need work but they are very spacious and for a wedding venue, my room (the junior suite) was just fine. The bridal suite is awesome and more then enough room for your entire wedding party to get ready. The prices are average and what i expected to pay.Ok now on to the staff and wedding event coordinator. We were very very fortunate to get Valerie Z. She is a goddess. There is no way we would have gotten it done with out her. She is the best of the best. Professional, stern, friendly, knowledgable and most of all experienced. Need I say more? Alyssa Q. The nicest, easiest person to work with. We had over 100 people staying at the Inn, the overlook, the lodges and cabins and Alyssa handled all this with a smile. Dawn, Erin and other front desk personal. We bombarded them with people and room changes and i was worried they would get mad or cop an attitude, these two wonderful young ladies were the best. Ok, lets go over the mistakes I made. When i signed the contract i didn't release we didn't have enough hot food at the cocktail hour, I didn't catch this and my guests were going hungry I didn't catch this at contract signing. Also only picked two dinners and one vegetarian dish, i should have had more options. But i thought there basic wedding package was enough but i was wrong. I said before they are updating but they need more staff and the need to move faster, The cabin were extremely in need of updating and repair. The overlook lodge was nice but old. Some of my guests loved the vintage look others didn't. The food was vert tasty but some guest complained it was cold. I told them to send it back and they did. Hot food was then served. The alcohol was served well and guests were tipsy so no complaint there. Again the staff was wonderful. Thats about it. Mark S(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-11-2018 We got married at the Bear Mountain Overlook Lodge in November 2018 and can't say enough great things about the experience and the staff, especially Mina Park and Alysa Quick. We wanted something rustic and this venue became our top choice and because of the view overlooking the lake we could let the venue speak for itself without a lot of decorations. We also wanted it to be as simple as possible and thanks to Mina being incredibly flexible and also recommending all our vendors it definitely lightened the burden. We ended up with 90 guests and because the venue had rooms attached to it we were able to keep all guests on location between the rooms at the lodge and the stone cottages (the after party was held here). The ceremony was also held onsite and we weren't able to do it outside due to weather we had great flexibility to decide whether it would be indoors or outdoors. The food was also great from the appetizers to the main course including the cake (outside vendor that Bear Mountain has a relationship so we didn't have to coordinate). We used all recommended vendors and each was great and friendly. We used Bok-Music as our music/DJ and Brendan and his team did a great job from the pre-planning to the event. They used a great blend of music (ethnic/American music) and knowing the perfect timing (helped me coordinate thank you with music). We used Flowers by David Anthony which were amazing and because of their familiarity with the venue delivery and setup was perfect and effortless. Todd Marti was our photographer and Kyle Harrigan our videographer who both did an amazing job, and because they shoot this venue frequently, they knew where and when to shoot to capture everything.Any wedding regardless of size is a major undertaking but because of Mina and her staff at Bear Mountain they made this a day much smoother that resulted in a wedding that far exceeded expectations. Chantal Bernhart(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-10-2018 Overall, our wedding at the Overlook Lodge was great and it had the rustic feel that we wanted. The view at the lodge is also beautiful, especially during the fall! Valerie and Alysa were great with helping my planning along the way. There were a few mix ups and miscommunications during the planning which made it a little stressful at times. The processional during the ceremony also could have gone a little smoother since my bridal party wasn’t sure of when to walk out and were left hanging at one point. Granted we did not have a rehearsal dinner, but everyone knew who they were walking with and just didn’t know when to go down the aisle. I was also left up in my room by myself before the ceremony not knowing when I was supposed to go downstairs. The lodge could use some updating. There was a leak in the kitchen the night before and the water was starting to come out into our reception area. Had I not seen the leak and called for someone to check it out when I did, the water would have gone all over the carpet in the reception area. The rooms could also use some updates. One of our rooms had a hole in the ceiling and one of my guests couldn’t even sleep in their bed because their mattress was soaked so they had to drive home that night. They did get a refund, but were not provided with another room to stay in. They also had over an hour drive home late at night. There is no bridal suite to get ready in at the lodge, so I had to pay for two rooms the night before our wedding in order to have a guaranteed space to get ready in. The “bridal room” looks just like every other king size room. For those of us who stayed the night before our wedding and the night of, we got locked out of rooms during my wedding day and had to have a staff member go to the Inn to get us new keys. The food was great and everyone loved the pasta dish we chose. The staff was very helpful with setting stuff up and breaking things down for us. Reviewed on 17-10-2018

The planning was smooth and easy we enjoyed all of it, we had a vision, she worked with us and it turned out perfect. The entire weekend of the wedding was spent on site, from check in on the Friday (thanks Alysa for making that easy for us) until we left Monday morning each and every staff member we had contact with was amazing to us and everyone of our guests. Auggie and the staff at the 1915 restaurant looked after us on the Friday night ,everyone had an amazing time and then it was time for the big day. Valerie even brought us lunch ❤️Everything looked amazing, Mina was actually there herself pinning the sign to our sweetheart table when I got back, these ladies are amazing and they do everything.. they where never far from my side. The ceremony went off without a hitch and was beautiful outside on the terrace.. then it was time for the party, Richie the banquet captain and staff where amazing, from the minute cocktail hour began no one wanted for anything all night. And finally a big shoutout to the bartender (sorry i forgot her name) she handled 75 Irish drinkers like a pro she was everyone’s friend minutes into it. Our wedding in the merry go round room was unlike any other, and without a doubt the best day of my life. However, there were too many mistakes on the day of the wedding (serious room block errors, chefs not following allergy instructions, windows being left open, staff not cleaning the tables in the venue, housekeeping not cleaning my bridal suite) and every department blamed someone else. The staff really does an amazing job at making it feel magical and warm and despite being super nervous about having the ceremony , cocktail hour, and the reception in one place, it really went off without a hitch and felt natural during the transition. We fit a huge band in there without a problem and no one complained about the unique sitting which we did around the carousel. Worked with Valerie who jumped in when our original contact quit and she picked up the job nicely. Was not aware that we had to tear down the venue ourselves but hey I guess we didn’t ask, so be prepared to do that. We took a car to the top of the mountain for before shots and thought it was absolutely worth it. It’s really an amazing natural setting to celebrate your big day. Didn’t use salon or room booking services tho, those did seem a little pricey, but the wedding suite they provided was great for getting ready and a small after party. Food is better at the tasting but still good and while the contact was sometimes a bit confusing, it all worked out and we were all happy, just make sure you come into the venue with clear ideas explainations and your own team to help! Michelle Garcia(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-11-2017 Do Not Get Married Here! My wedding day was the greatest day of my life, BUT that had NOTHING to do with the Bear Mountain Inn. A venue masked by a beautiful exterior is nothing more than that. If you are looking for a venue that is full of rude, unorganized, and downright deceiving staff then you have come to the right place. Initial red flags, completely understaff, played phone tag with my coordinator for a year and a half before my wedding, never cleared on details, constantly missed deadlines when providing the obscure details. On the day of my wedding, the coordination was completely unorganized and never around to answer any of my questions or even provide the lunch order for me and my girls, which was left for me to do. Also the coordinator pointed out to me that my mom, instead of getting ready with her daughter (THE BRIDE) was the one who did all the decorating, really what did you do that whole day? The staff of the inn was completely rude to me, THE BRIDE, and my family throughout the entire stay, even to my bridesmaids just asking for extra water bottles while getting ready. The reception/ceremony was another unorganized mess. The serving staff even approached me on my way to the dance floor on when they should be bringing out the courses, wasn't that decided on during the tasting? Then the minute the reception was over, still saying goodbye to guest/heading to the bar after party (in the same building), the fire alarm was set off by the serving staff because they exterminated the candles in the fireplace wrong (guess it was their first wedding). The alarm was off for the next 3 hours. The next day you were basically shooed out by the staff with no help from the wedding coordinator to retrieve any decorations or even the top tier of my cake, which basically took me crying in the wedding coordinators office to receive it. I honestly cringe to the point of tears and anger when I think about this place, a lot of other things went wrong too but I spent way too much time crying about this place to give it another thought. But I will end it with this final note, the fact that several guests and my photographer even came up to me to point out the disorganization of this venue and the lack of professionalism is completely astounding. Gianna Schiavello(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-10-2017 I got married at the bear mountain inn last weekend. It was stunning, but that was all thanks to me, our florist, and friends and family.Communication here is the worst I’ve ever experienced. You won’t get a phone call or email back unless you hound them, or show up in person. Send your emails at high priority. Keep paperwork on everything and take it everywhere. We got a room block for our friends and family. Rented the whole place out. Had trouble with the room block for the ENTIRE year (to the day) that we were planning. Everytime I turned around, someone was dropped out of the block. I had spoke to them 5 times on the phone and had to drive there 4 times at 45 minutes away because of so much incompetence. Flash forward to the night of the wedding. I am told that my maid of honor was dropped out of the block and they gave her room away to an outsider. So here I am arguing with the manager on my wedding night during my cocktail hour instead of enjoying my family friends and new husband. The manager Jim is so unbelievably terrible. He has no idea how to run a business and is arrogant and unphased by anything you have to say. He basically told me he didn’t care whenever I had an issue. To the point where he has nerve to have even applied for the job. He should not be working in hospitality because he is unfriendly and rude. He even asked us the bride and groom if we could be out 4 hours early the next morning because the groomsmen for the wedding the next day wanted to get ready in the bridal suite. We had problems with him and rooms for 12 months and then he wants us out early? Not on your life, buddy. I can honestly say I don’t have one nice thing to say about him. He is the absolute worst part about the whole experience. My bridesmaids and I got our hair and makeup done at the spa. At first We had the appointment for 10 if us, but eventually we cut it to 7. I had to contact them 3 times until they finally changed it to the correct number. They were wonderful and did a wonderful job none the less.Mina and Rich held my wedding together when I felt like it was about to fall apart in front of my eyes. They are great! Hard to get hold of, but great. Our outdoor ceremony went without a hitch and the reception was an absolute blast. Kacie D(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-10-2017 My husband and I got married at the Carousel at Bear Mountain recently and are very happy with our experience! Our coordinator at Bear Mountain Inn, Mina Park, had so many excellent suggestions throughout the planning process that made our day even more special. Our guests loved how beautiful Bear Mountain's property is and how unique the carousel wedding was. On any given Saturday, there can be up to 4 different weddings happening at Bear Mountain (between all the different areas for ceremonies and receptions), as well as hundreds of people simply enjoying a nice day in the park, so that is important to keep in mind for couples who are looking for something more private. The busy atmosphere didn't bother us, though, (Mina had told us when we booked that there would likely be multiple weddings on the same day) and we found Mina to be attentive and fully present when she was with us. In fact, she and another Bear Mountain staff member led a couple of my family members in a whirlwind set-up that transformed the Carousel Pavilion into the wedding of our dreams! All the decor we had brought looked even more amazing than we expected, thanks to Mina and her staff's professional eye and experience running large events. Because Mina and her staff are juggling so many weddings, though, you sometimes need to be patient or a tad persistent in getting responses to calls or emails throughout the planning process. But once we did get ahold of staff, they were so helpful and gave us even more information and details than we had asked for every time. The other important thing to note is that cell service and wifi are a little bit spotty in and around Bear Mountain, which, coupled with the heavy Oktoberfest traffic, could be very stressful for some brides or families. However, we are sincerely happy with our Bear Mountain Wedding experience and would recommend it again to friends! Reviewed on 24-10-2017

My wife and I were so pleased with our wedding overall - the Merry Go Round space was beautiful and the exact type of \"different\" we were looking for and the food was pretty good and the chef accommodated a number of different dietary restrictions within our group. Our ceremony was beautiful and the reception was so much fun. Many of our guests told us that it was the best wedding they'd ever been to. That said, the coordination and planning with Bear Mountain was pretty disappointing. In the planning process, especially close to the wedding day, we'd have to reach out with questions multiple times to receive a response and our coordinator told us about things too late many times (ex - shuttle bus permits that we learned about a few days after they were due) requiring us to work much quicker and ask for more favors than we would have had Bear Mountain been more on top of communicating with us. The day before the wedding was very hectic because our coordinator was nowhere to be found and, though our coordinator said she prepped folks, no one knew where to point us to drop off our decor/materials, and we ended up driving back and forth through the property searching for someone knowledgeable to help. Finally, a newer staff person helped us get all our stuff into her personal office, where we were nervous about our stuff falling or being bumped into. They also waited until the day before to tell us that we were SOLELY responsible for getting everything out of the space at the end of the night. Luckily, our families pitched in big time, but we would have liked to know that wayyy earlier than we did.On wedding day, our suite was ready late despite our dedicated follow up to let them know that we had stylists and friends coming to help us get ready at certain times. After 1. learning that the couple getting married in a different space on the property had their room ready but they didn't need it yet (they're identical rooms - not sure why they let that one remain empty when only we had arrived yet!) and 2. waiting over half an hour, we ended up just going to the room ourselves without waiting for the front desk, because we were running out of time and had to start getting ready! Our hairstylist started while housekeeping was still finishing up, and we ended up having to pay her extra for the time she spent waiting. Finally, it sounds like set up within the Merry Go Round was a nightmare. So much so that about 8 of our friends felt the need to jump in to not only help, but also lead parts of the set up process. We stopped by the venue to snap a few photos before everything began and we heard a few too many \"thank goodness we were here\" exclamations out of our friends. Finally, when our coordinator stopped by during the reception (once or twice) she spent a chunk of that time telling my best friend to apply for a job with them because of how great she was when she helped with set up which she should not have had to do in the first place! After the wedding, our coordinator told us that Bear Mountain had over 28 weddings that month between their 3 spaces and Friday/Saturday bookings. No wonder we got the service we did. It should be simple -- if you can't handle that volume of weddings at a certain standard, don't book that many! If we were doing it over, we'd probably still book the space we did. But it's good to know that their coordination services are not to be relied on! Stay on top of it all yourself! Jennifer Presutto Howe(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-06-2017 I had my reception at the Overlook Lodge at Bear Mountain. The venue, itself, was perfect. We were able to have our ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, afterparty, and hotel block in the same place. It was very convenient for the guests and bridal party. There are so many beautiful places on the grounds to get pictures. One negative was the organization. It was ok, but some things fell out of place. Initially, communication was lacking...but throughout the process it did get better. On the day of the wedding, the carousel was supposed to be open for pictures, and it took a half hour and a lot of phone calls to make that happen. There were also not enough chairs for guests because it was not taken into account that the first row would be blocked off for the wedding party. The ceremony started late because we had to wait for more chairs. Other than that, though, the wedding went smoothly and perfectly. Despite the shortcomings, I would still recommend the Overlook Lodge for a wedding. Reviewed on 01-09-2017
Monique Zawadzki(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-06-2017 Bear Mountain Inn was the perfect venue for us as we wanted a rustic wedding and the area and Inn were lovely. We chose to have it at the Overlook Lodge, not the main Inn, and we are glad we did. Our coordinator, Sandra, was so helpful the entire time and answered any questions we had through the whole process. She was also great and helped us decorate the venue for the day of, so I didn't have to worry. I gave this venue 4 stars only because some of the decor was somewhat dated and could use some updating. A few of the chairs at the reception had small holes in them, which if I had known beforehand I would have purchased chair covers or different chairs. Aside from that, the venue was very clean and helped to make our day perfect. Reviewed on 06-06-2017

The facility is everything you want in a venue (maybe new carpet, but I won't take points off for that). The staff was wonderful on our wedding day and took care of me and my guests. From the moment we saw the Merry Go Round, we knew this was where we had to have our reception. The space was beautiful and unique but with the help of the catering staff we were still able to maintain all of the traditional reception elements. Our initial booking experience was a little iffy, it was hard to get in touch with people and the food was just okay. However, Mina Park has been working to revamp the overall experience and it certainly showed throughout our process. She updated the food - which became phenomenal (the beef was tender and the salmon was perfectly cooked). She was super responsive and helpful throughout, to the point that when my day of coordinator cancelled 3 weeks before the wedding, she stepped up and decorated the whole venue for me - I SOOO appreciated that! She even helped coordinate the room booking process and always made sure I had whatever I needed. She was candid and also provided many helpful suggestions throughout the process. Our guests were a little unsure of what to expect from a wedding at a carousel, but everyone loved the night and raved about everything from top to bottom. They couldn't believe such a beautiful, unique venue existed. The day of the event, the staff was extremely helpful and attentive. They helped with setup in the beginning and helped with tear-down at the end. The carousel attendant was also great, and kept the kids entertained the whole night. If you're looking for a wedding that's a little different but still with all of the classic wedding elements, the Merry Go Round is the place for you! This was definitely the place for us - thanks Mina for all of your hard work! Reviewed on 08-11-2016

They breached the contract with me, overcharged my guests for parking made my wedding party help them set up my wedding and made my husband stay after and clean until 1:30 am, they have offfered me no resolution. I had to ask to cut my cake because it was getting late and after I cut it it took them almost an hour to bring it out (keep in mind there was pre-cut pieces in the back), In the midst of this I had to go to my suite because I was extremely nauseous from the food and when I came back only a few guests had pieces of cake and had to eat it with THEIR HANDS they were never given utensils. She made planning a wedding from over 6 hours away go off without a hitch and was quick to respond to my many questions over the months of planning! The day of she checked in with us numerous times to make sure everything was going great! We went with an open bar, passed hors d'oeuvres a buffet for dinner which our guests absolutely loved. Guests were saying it was some of the most delicious food they've had at a wedding! My only complaint was the rooming which is kind of a separate entity. When we had our guests call to take over the blocked rooms the front desk told numerous different guests on numerous different occasions that there were no rooms. HOWEVER, Mina and Bethanny (also in catering) were able to make everything better! I would recommend only going through them to block off rooms, make the assignments, any changes, ect. My parents and other family members stayed and shared an entire stone cottage and loved the peaceful and quiet accommodations there! Reviewed on 13-10-2016
Casey Luber(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-09-2016 Our wedding at the Bear Mountain Inn this September was absolute perfection. I give most of the credit to the wonderful Mina Park, the catering director for Bear Mountain, who was by our side every step of the way. While I am nowhere near the \"bridezilla\" type, I did have my fair share of questions throughout the planning process and I was nothing short of thrilled with the professionalism, promptness, and candor with which Mina (and her talented staff) addressed every one of my concerns (which were few) and requests. Her attention to detail leading up to our wedding made the weekend itself all the more stress free. We had many guests stay at the Inn, Lodge, and Stone Cottages and they all had a blast during their mountain getaway. The ceremony was located outside on the beautiful Hickory Terrace, and I was happy that there were fewer park-goers lingering around for our 6PM ceremony than I had envisioned. Our guests raved about the cocktail hour passed hors d'oeuvres and savory martini station and no one waited long for a drink as there were two bars. The upstairs reception space felt very large, which concerned us since we ended up only having 150 guests, but it ended up feeling perfectly intimate the entire night and looked gorgeous with the dozens of candles along the windowed back ledge. The waitstaff was more or less on schedule with the delivery of the food courses, and if there was any issue it was quickly addressed by our maitre d' for the night, August, who was phenomenal. As the bride and groom, we were made to feel very special by the staff the entire night and every one of our needs was taken care of. I think one of the biggest assets of having a wedding at Bear Mountain is that everything is located at this one venue and most of the details of the day (besides your major outside vendors) are taken care of by the site. It was very relaxing to be able to get nails and hair done at the on-site Spa, which was conveniently located down the hall from the suite in which the bridal party got ready. The grounds of Bear Mountain are stunning and our photographer had no shortage of amazing shots to choose from. And, we had a delicious breakfast for our guests the following morning, which was also convenient and appreciated by our out of towners. I could go on and on about everything we loved about having our wedding at Bear Mountain, and I highly recommend making a visit if a gorgeous, rustic venue, with top notch staff and food, is your idea of a perfect wedding. We went to look at Bear Mountain and it ended up being the only venue we looked at and booked. We live in Connecticut and the majority of our family and friends were coming from New York or New Jersey which made the location very accessible. There was so much for our guests to do other than attending our wedding that weekend--hikes, visits to the zoo, Oktoberfest, golf, etc. We wanted our wedding weekend to also be a nice weekend away for our guests which Bear Mountain delivered on.We did everything on site for our wedding. We did our Friday night Rehearsal/Welcome dinner at Merry-Go Round Pavillon which was a great way to kick off the weekend. The food was delicious, venue was beautiful and our guests got to ride the merry-go round (great photo opts!) For our wedding the ceremony, cocktail hour, reception and after party were all at the Bear Mountain Inn which has a great natural flow from one portion of the wedding to the next. The outdoor terrace was absolutely beautiful for the ceremony. Our ceremony was at 6:30 so the natural lighting in September was beautiful. Both the room for the cocktail hour and reception are very spacious. With our 120 guests, there was plenty of room for everyone to spread out. We heard numerous compliments from our guests throughout the weekend about how good the food was. The accommodation options on the property (the Inn and cottages) were perfect for our guests that wanted to stay on site. One of the other highlights of our wedding experience was working with Mina Park, Director of Catering. Sandra responded to every email in a matter of hours, and was so knowledgeable. She helped us with timing, planning, and organizing everything. She contacted our vendors to set up timelines with them individually, and made sure that everything was taken care of with our room block. The one negative I would have with regards to the staff was the front desk staff, who gave our guests a few issues with booking rooms through the block. Thankfully, Sandra got everything ironed out in a very short period of time, she was truly a pleasure. Sandra was very helpful with putting together all of the decorations and everything else for the venue, and when we got upstairs, it looked exactly how we had hoped, if not better.re: the food- we were very happy, and all of our guests raved about the food. There appeared to be plenty of it, and everything I ate was just as good at the wedding as it was at the tasting. We didn't know if it would be possible to scale all of that food for that many guests and keep the quality, but they absolutely accomplished it. Thanks to her organization skills, I was not bombarded with all the decisions at once. She made sure everything was set up perfectly and stayed late the day of my wedding to help out. I had no stress the day of my wedding thanks to her taking charge and making sure that everything was perfect. The little touches that she gave to my wedding, made it that much more special. The food was delicious, it was honestly why we booked the inn...it didn't hurt that It had a beautiful rustic, yet modern charm. The staff at the spa were friendly and professional. They paid extra attention to our needs, and everyone looked great. They even touched up our hair during the day. The only issue we encountered was with booking the rooms. We were able to negotiate our rate slightly (the Friday price for a Saturday wedding) which helped given that this is a pricier venue. The day of our wedding was beautiful. Prior to the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception, our escort cards were put out along with photos and chalkboard that we provided. Each table was set up with our centerpieces and linens that we had requested. We did not have to worry about a thing and we had waiters designated to attend to us throughout the night which was great.\r\rHowever, the service that we were provided leading up to the event was mediocre at best. I often had to reach out to our coordinator multiple times to receive a response (this was in large part because our original coordinator went on maternity leave and did not return and then our second coordinator also went on maternity leave.) There was also many other events at the Inn the weekend of our wedding that we had to coordinate around.\r\rAll in all, though, our experience at the inn was amazing and our wedding was flawless.\r\rIf I could rate the spa separately, though, I would give it less than 1 star. The owner was extremely rude and would not let my bridesmaids leave until they gave exorbitant tips (over 20%.) After 2 hours of picture taking, my hair was falling out and when I went to request that they put in additional bobby pins, the owner instructed me to wait 20 minutes. Michelle Boyce(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-09-2015 We had our wedding September 2015 at the Overlook Lodge. Our wedding was beautiful and we had a blast! However, this was not due to Bear Mountain. The credit goes to our florist, DJ, and guests.\r\rLet me just say, I have never been married before so wedding planning was a first time experience for me and it was terrible. This was mainly due to the unprofessional, disorganized nature of the process with my coordinator, who by the way quit a month prior to my wedding. I was not even told she quit. I found out myself after receiving no response from her and finally reaching out to someone else. When I received my new coordinator, there was no apology involved. My coordinator who quit did not tell me certain things I needed to know and it came across by my new coordinator as though these things were my fault.\r\rThe whole wedding planning process is supposed to be a fun, exciting time. Bear Mountain made the process very stressful and upsetting. In no way did they make me feel like I was an important Bride or that my wedding was important to them. It felt more like an inconvenience. \r\rThe food at the wedding was just ok. It was much better at the restaurant at the Inn for the tasting. I was told later some of the food items at the cocktail hour were cold which I was not happy about. One of the servers was rude and rolled her eyes at one of my bridesmaids who was trying to get a glass of champagne for me, the Bride. The server who was with my fiance and I was great and the bartender was also great, I wish I knew their names. I did not see the maitre'd, that was supposed to be with us, once. \r\rI wanted to have my wedding at Bear Mountain for the rustic vibe and the beautiful view. Communication is a HUGE issue at the BMI. Throughout the process, emails and calls went unanswered for up to a week (when I followed up again), contracts were incorrect, credit cards were charged for the same thing multiple time (by \"accident\"), the staff was MIA for most of the evening. There is big staff turnover here and it shows. Additionally, the AC in many of the hotel rooms did not work. I will start off with the positive: my daughter's wedding was beautiful! The food was delicious and the venue is what one of our guests called \"rustic but elegant.\" The reason I only rated them a 3 is because they are clearly very understaffed! From the moment we tried to reach someone there to get information, we had to keep calling back and/or keep sending e-mails till we got a response. Once we booked it, the poor communication continued. Then the staff person who was working on our wedding went on maternity leave. No one ever told us. Then she came back but quit....no one ever told us. During the last month, the catering manager handled all details for our wedding. She also did not return calls or respond to e-mails. She sent invoices with incorrect information on them more than once. It was apparent she had too much work to do and was on overload. We did not see her once the night of the wedding! Fortunately, a few months prior to the wedding, my daughter saw the deficiencies and hired a day-of wedding planner. At first it seemed unnecessary to me but in the end, I was so glad she did that. I thank our wedding planner for making sure the day/evening went off without a hitch. If you decide to have a wedding there, I suggest you ask how many people they have on their staff (they told us they were in the process of hiring three more people after our wedding) and/or you hire a day-of wedding planner. It is a beautiful venue but the last thing you need when planning a wedding is lack of faith in the people handling your special day. Reviewed on 07-09-2015

There are no words to express how great everything turned out. Brittany my coordinator went above and beyond for us (including driving me to the pavilion). Steven the hotel manager helped with some adjustments needed for my rooms with no problems. The front desk staff didn't even blink an eye every time I locked myself out of my room (I ended up checking out with 5 keys...lol) The food was great, the staff was nice and who doesn't love a merry go round ride? Several people came up to me that night and said it was the best wedding they even been to, and trust me we have all been to ALOT! This venue was the only one I looked at and wanted. I even changed the date of my wedding cause the hotel couldn't give me the amount of rooms I needed. I can honestly say there was not one problem that night with anything. The oversized hotel rooms was great with 3/4 people standing in the room. You can have a wedding in any of the suites, they are that big. Pamela Barlow(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-04-2015 I am so disappointed by the sales and catering staff at Bear Mountain Inn. Early on, this venue was at the top of my list. The Inn and surrounding park are beautiful, and the wedding prices are reasonable ($79 -150 pp). My Dad used to camp at Bear Mountain with his brothers as a kid (one of whom is now deceased), and I have spent time there with my fiance, so this place has sentimental value for my family.\r\rI emailed and called the catering department over a four month period before giving up on booking this venue. I received one (1) voice mail back from them the entire time. It took two months to make a reservation to see the place. I left the catering director (Chris) and the two sales reps (Amy & Brittany) short voicemails and emails in the weeks before the appointment asking for directions, parking, etc. There were no calls or emails back from them with answers to my questions. \r\rWe ended up missing our appointment because I wrote down the wrong date. The night before our (incorrect) appointment, they leave a single voicemail saying we missed our appointment and they can't book us until the next month. Sure, I made a mistake, but this would have easily been corrected if they had returned any form of communication I sent in the weeks prior to the appointment. \r\rAside from the appointment issue, their emails did not answer any of my basic questions. I asked in several emails and voice mails if the space I wanted was available on any of the dates I wanted, and this was never answered. The emails they did send looked like an automated template that they copied and pasted to each client.\r\rI have visited four other venues (Mohonk Mountain House, Perona Farms, Chart House, Entertainment Cruises) and spoke with representatives from more (Chelsea Piers, Bronx Zoo, Ramsey Country Club, Park West Loft). There was not a single venue who took more than 12 hours to email or 2 days to call back. All of them called and emailed the day before an appointment. The difference in customer service is amazing.\r\rBottom line to brides: reach out to any other venue. You'll have much better customer service. I can't imagine giving these people $8-25k for a wedding, much less trusting them with such an important event. Reviewed on 15-11-2014

Chris was fantastic dealing with last minute, unexpected changes and he was with us all night long. Joe, the maitre d', was also great - thoughtful and courteous. We also ended up having significantly less people than our agreed upon minimum and Chris was terrific in giving us a bit of a break.\r\rThe only slight negative to Bear Mountain is that the space immediately surrounding the Inn is a public park which can get crowded on summer days. On our wedding day, there were a lot of people bbq-ing and playing music around the lake, so I'm glad we ended up having to move inside.\r\rOverall, we had an amazing day and I couldn't be happier with how it went! Lisa Bertuzzi(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-06-2014 I give this venue the best review. The place was recently renovated and the cocktail hour area and reception area are absolutely beautiful. If you want to a wedding reception hall that isn't a cookie cutter hall, this is the place for you. We didn't want your run of the mill, crank it out till the next one gets here wedding. This place is so personal and the staff there is excellent. The person in charge of wedding booking, Chris Ryter, is wonderful. He pays so much attention to detail so that your wedding goes smoothly. The food there is excellent. Also, we had our friends and family stay over with a continental breakfast included. The breakfast was much more than continental. I don't know if it was a fluke, but they had eggs, bacon, waffles, anything you would want for breakfast and more. The best part is, if this is your reception cite, you are able to go back any time for a dinner, brunch, lunch or just to hang out at their many events that are always going on there. My husband and I plan on going back every year for our anniversary. Reviewed on 21-06-2014
Alexis Marlin(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-11-2013 I had my wedding at the Overlook Lodge in Bear Mountain in November 2013. Words cannot even begin to express how much I loved the venue, the service, and the staff. Dina did an amazing job and making sure everything went smoothly leading up to the wedding and the day of. Rich, my matre d, did a fantastic job that evening of making sure my husband and I were taking care of and keeping everything running. The view is amazing from the lodge!!!! The food is delicious and my guests still compliment it. Bear Mountain worked with me with payments, bringing in extra items, and setting everything up the way I wanted. Emails were responded to in a timely manner and the day of was stress free. I would highly recommend the Overlook Lodge if you are having a smaller wedding, we had about 85 guests, and want a mountain feel with a beautiful scenery! What's especially nice with the Overlook compared to the Inn is you are away from the visitors of Bear Mountain and high in the mountain. We were able to park at the bottom entrance and walk a short path to get to the lake for amazing shots. I was very pleased with what we paid and the service we received. Reviewed on 27-11-2013

We have loved the location for years but to see it done up for a wedding was breathtaking. Chris the catering director was a pleasure to deal with and his attention to every detail was fantastic. He put us at ease and we had no worries. Joe was our maitre d and was unbelievable as well. He made sure every detail ran smoothly and was always making sure my husband and I had food and drink. Speaking of food...it was out of this world! Our families are still talking about our wedding and saying it was the best they have ever been too. I can't thank everyone at Bear Mountain enough! The staff, specifically Ann Marie Grew and Noreen, were so accommodating to all of our questions and concerns. The food is amazing, prices reasonable, and ambiance is unlike any other venue you will find in the Hudson Valley. There are so many options for event space, depending on the size of your wedding. There are only a few rules, which is a plus for do-it-yourself couples like us. Highly recommend! Kristina Casper(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-10-2012 Oh my Goodness!!!! I don't even know where to begin! I can not say enough good things about Bear Mountain and it's entire staff!!!!! Ann Marie was wonderful to work with, anytime I had a question or needed a solution she was always available to help. The Staff truly went above and beyond to make my day perfect! And when I say above and beyond that is no exaggeration. If you go and look at the inn for a venue, you'll get to see the beautiful rustic cocktail room and deck, the lobby is purely stunning and upstairs the banquet hall is wonderful. As my family and I were touring the rooms we happened to peek into the soon to be restaurant room and absolutely fell in love!!!! The room was everything I had dreamed of but the construction start date on the restaurant was still undetermined. We decided that the banquet hall would be sufficeient, howvere, we were crossing our fingers and praying that the owner as well as the construction manager would see my plea to use the room and be overcome with sentiment and allow us to hold our reception in the room! Well, it was looking good and over the course of the year poor Ann Marie and her staff had to deal with more than their fair share of pestering calls about over night accommodations, construction deadlines and various other hiccups. It was looking pretty good in aug and sept that we were going to be able to snag the restaurant room for the 6th when BAM!!!! appliances and construction materials were going to be delivered on the 1st!!!!! All that time hoping, praying and being so sure that I was going to get to have this beautiful room and then I missed it by 5 DAYS!!!!!!!!! I had almost accepted defeat when Ann Marie really went to bat for my husband and I, some how she and the staff convinced the owners, the state, and the construction crew to pay for storage off site for the week so that I (little ole me) could have my wedding dreams come true!!! \r\rThe Food was AMAZING!!!! we went with a surf and turf type of menu and the filet was cooked to perfection! The halibut was buttery and moist so full of flavor! We still haven't stopped getting complements about the food at the reception! the cocktail hour was running so smoothly! we had about 125 guest and there was plenty of room, the displays were well organized and there was plenty to go around so no waiting on line for food or drinks! In addition to the display as a bride I had my Maitre d', was superb. She made sure the both my husband and I were able to eat and that we wanted for nothing the entire night! \r\rI honestly don't have a single complaint about bear mountain. Melanie Fox(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-11-2012 We got married 11/17/12 at the Bear Mountain Inn. We had our rehearsal dinner in the carousel, ceremony on the Inn first floor, cocktail hour in the lobby, and reception on the second floor. It was so convenient having everything in one place, and the park offered so much to do for all our family and guests. The groomsmen and groom even summited Bear Mountain on the morning of our wedding! The decor is gorgeous and rustic, and everyone told us how great all the food was. The staff, and particularly Ann Marie, were great and very responsive. We had a pretty specific vision, and they carried it out beautifully. Even when the venue lost power from Hurricane Sandy a couple weeks before the wedding, they met with us at the Inn and worked hard to keep it all on track. We also really enjoyed the accommodations - we stayed in the Inn along with close family, but the cabins were perfect for our bridal party and friends to stay together and keep up festivities after our formal reception ended. It wasn't cheap, but we were so happy with everything and couldn't have been happier. Reviewed on 02-12-2012

Our daughter had her wedding at the Overlook in late October. The setting was fantastic. Ann Marie Grew helped us all along the way - which was wonderful, since our daughter lives in another state. The food was great - got lots of compliments from our guests! The reception room looked beautiful, and the lodge itself is so picturesque and welcoming. The rooms are lovely and since we had a lot of out of town guests, having rooms right there was great. Noreen at the lodging office was also such a big help to us. Thank you to all! Dana was our day of attendant and I had left her with set up instructions for everything and she went above and beyond what I had asked of her. she took all of the ideas and decorations we had made and put my vision together better than I could have honestly. when I walked into the reception room to escape for a breather after the ceremony I couldn't believe my eyes, everything was beautiful. along with Dana, all of the staff was attentive and just a pleasure to have there. Ann Marie was amazing to work with, she was on top of everything and answered my tons of questions in a timely fashion. she made everything so simple for us that I was so calm and stress free on the day of the wedding that my bridesmaids were concerned! I just knew that between Ann Marie and Dana everything would work out just fabulous and it did! we got lots of compliments on the food and cake. if you are thinking about Overlook Lodge for your wedding location, don't think twice, it's a beautiful location and you're sure to have a one of a kind wedding!
