Owners, The Nelson family, re-opened the doors of the Benison in May 2019 with a vision for how this unique space could be part of weddings and other special events. This dream has become a reality, with countless families gathering within its walls to mark their most cherished moments. The name ‘Benison’ originates from the Latin ‘benedictio’ meaning ‘to bless.’ That is exactly what the team hopes this space will be for you on your special day, a blessing to you and your beloved as you exchange vows surrounded by your loved ones. Your day at The Benison will begin in the wedding suites, where you and your wedding party can enjoy laughter, mimosas, and making memories as you prepare for your ceremony. Your ‘I do’ moment will happen in the ballroom, surrounded by natural light beaming through the space’s large windows. Afterward, retire to the lounge or the outdoor greenspace for a cocktail hour catch-up with your guests. Loved the Benison as our venue. It was a beautiful place to get married AND have a reception. I found that combo was difficult to find. It was also reasonable and the helped accommodate as they were able. Loved that they had get ready rooms for both bride and groom. I also loved that we could rent the place on Friday for the rehearsal and do set up. Mandy was awesome in organizing everything. Marcus did the food and I got so many compliments. Great night!!

The staff at The Benison was amazing to work with. Both Mandy and Yvonne did such a great job being our coordinators and were super helpful. The wait staff was so kind to all of my guests. We loved everything about our day!!

It was a pleasure working with The Benison Events on a recent wedding that I coordinated. The venue is beautiful and the staff went above and beyond on the wedding day to ensure that everything went well -- even sewing a new eye for a hook & eye on the bride's gown!Yvonne ensured that we had everything we needed throughout the day while we set up the decor and while the bride, groom, and bride's parents were getting ready. Mandy was always ready with a cold glass of water for all of us, and saw to it that chairs were available for the grandmothers while they waited to be escorted down the aisle during the ceremony.The food, provided by High Street Cafe, was delicious! The catering staff even set out desserts that the client provided, and helped serve them to guests.The only criticism I would give is that the event space would seem very tight between tables if you have more than 10 tables (rounds, for approx. 77 guests). We had 10 at this wedding, and it was nicely spaced. It is also getting photos at the vault -- a gorgeous feature of this venue -- with the space set up for ceremony or reception.Overall, I had a good experience working with The Benison and would highly recommend this venue for anyone looking for a gorgeous place to have your wedding.From TLC Events & Weddings (Planner/Coordinator)

My husband and I had to switch venues one month before our wedding day. Christy and the rest of the staff went above and beyond what we could ever imagine! it was absolutely beautiful and the staff were terrific. We had gotten compliments all night for the service and the beauty of the venue. If we could give more than 5 stars, we would! You will not be disappointed!!Also, their chef goes above and beyond also. The food was absolutely wonderful! Again, you would not be disappointed!!!!

I had an amazing experience with the Benison! The venue is beautiful, affordable, and has convenient free parking for guests. Christy, Yvonne, and the staff did a phenomenal job in helping me execute the perfect wedding. They always listened to my ideas and helped me bring them into reality. Being able to get the hors d'oeuvres and catering through the venue was extremely convenient. I can honestly say that I had no problems on my wedding day and I give much of that credit to the amazing people at the Benison. I highly recommend this venue!

Beautiful Venue, detailed ceilings, ton of natural light. There is a beautiful balcony tha makes for a perfect altar. There is also a vintage vault that is ideal for photos. So much character. Love it!

Wonderful addition in an up and coming town of Hamilton! The beautiful architecture, safe, is outstanding! Classic , from scratch cooking from the number 1 restaurant in town too! It's a win, win for whoever decides to enjoy the atmosphere and food!

I was so excited for my tour of the Benison Event Center! The staff were true professionals, easy to relate, and genuinely invested in service with excellence. The convenient location and prominent front signage made it easier to find in downtown. I adored this unique, multi-faceted, historic setting. The vault was my favorite... adding a special flair for creating timeless memories! Highly recommend!

Christy Nelson (Owner) Christy Nelson is honored to work alongside her amazing team to create a new standard among event venues. The Benison will not only be a beautiful place for any event but it will focus on hospitality. Intentionally focusing on each guest experience allows the staff to anticipate and meet the needs of every bride on her special day. With a background in Education and Marketing, Christy plans to use the skills she has acquired to focus on the people side of the wedding industry.
