There aren't enough words to describe how grateful we are to Lexi and her staff at the Blue Heron. We planned our wedding in 2 months and we never felt one ounce of stress because Lexi had it all under control. She guided us to exactly what we were looking for and allowed us to do what we wanted. Lexi played a huge role in making our day so perfect. Even a few days after, I had to pick up a few things, the staff was so helpful and truly went above and beyond to help me out. We couldn't imagine our wedding anywhere else. All of our guests talked about how beautiful the venue was and how much they loved the food. We never did a food tasting because we didn't care to, so this was a pleasant surprise to hear from our guests. Lexi is the sweetest and most genuine person. Her expertise on weddings was an added bonus! Again, thank you to everyone at the Blue Heron for making our day better than we could have ever imagined. We would be happy to talk to anyone who has questions regarding our experience because we don't want anyone to miss out on a wonderful opportunity to host an event at the Blue Heron!!

The Blue Heron was PERFECT for our wedding reception! We had our ceremony at the Notre Dame Basilica, followed an hour later by cocktail hour and reception at the Blue Heron. Lexi was fantastic to work with and made planning and day-of very easy on us. We bought a random assortment of things for centerpieces (garland, pinecones, etc), and she and her team were able to put everything together and make it look even better than we had imagined. We continue to get rave reviews about the food, too, which is always great to hear. The dance floor was a great size, even for our 160 person wedding.

The Blue Heron exceeded all of our expectations. We had our wedding and reception here in October 2021. The planning and preparation process with Lexi was seamless and easy. She is a delight to work with, never shows signs of stress and is eager to help you have your picture perfect wedding. No detail goes unnoticed with Lexi and her staff. The food was amazing, we had people commenting on it all night long. The all in price we paid for everything was more than reasonable. If you are in Northern Indiana or Southwest Michigan, please check out The Blue Heron, you will not be disappointed!

Professional, easy, flexible, and no drama. Lexi was a dream to work with and went above and beyond to make this day perfect for my daughter and son-in-law. Lexi responded quickly to emails. She had answers to all our questions. Advised us on things we never knew to think about. And, sent reminders of what needed done and when leading up to the big day. The staff at The Blue Heron are equally as impressive. They were dressed professionally, were attentive to all guests and their needs, and did a beautiful job setting up all our decorations. I don't know how they weren't my first choice in the first place. This place will wow your guests. Lexi was AMAZING. Everything was so professional and designed so beautifully. Their planning abilities are completely unparallel as are the scenic views, the reception space, the food, the staff, etc. All our guests kept commenting how first class everything was. Lexi and her team did an amazing job making our wedding reception a fun and memorable party! Lexi was very easy to work with - she responded to emails quickly, whether it was about something big or small, and her friendly demeanor made the planning process a happy task. She was also great at sharing opinions on planning decisions when asked, which I really appreciated toward the end of our planning process. Our wedding took place in the fall, and the view of the golf course and woods behind it was a beautiful backdrop for the party. The food was delicious and there are a lot of options, too - we had no problems choosing dishes that accommodated a lot of dietary/health restrictions among my family members and I wasn't stressed about that at all on wedding day. The space was plenty big enough for ~120 guests, with room for a few more tables. The Blue Heron staff are truly wedding professionals, and I didn't worry about a thing on my wedding day. We had our large wedding reception at the Blue Heron in November last fall, and Lexi and her team went above and beyond! We were planning our wedding from out of state, and Lexi was able to juggle questions and meetings with my parents who were local, as well as with us via phone and email. Lexi was always quick to respond to our questions and would send an updated quote each time we discussed changes in logistics. I even emailed her the morning of our wedding to let her know about 3 people who we found out couldn’t make it and she was able to make sure those tables didn’t have the extra/unneeded chairs at our reception. We had tons of different questions along the planning process, and she was always very clear and knowledgable with her answers and advice. The staff at our reception were all wonderful, and many of our guests raved about the food. Lexi and the venue were flexible with most of our requests as well, such as letting us bring in some of our own ingredients for signature “his and hers” cocktails. The staff handles all of the decor setup and tear down, and all I did was provide Lexi with a list of our decor items noting where I wanted them setup. I loved not having to worry about any setup or tear down, as I certainly didn’t want to deal with that as the bride and we didn’t want any family or friends to have to help with that type of work either. We were able to schedule a time the next day to pick up any of our remaining decor items. Thank you so much to Lexi and the staff at Blue Heron for helping make our wedding day unforgettable!

We had our wedding reception here this past June, and loved it! It is a gorgeous space with lots of natural light (great for the beautiful South Bend summer evenings!). We found the prices very reasonable. And Lexi went above and beyond in making our event everything we dreamed. She was very professional and extremely accommodating, even for last minute changes. She took care of so many of the little details and set up the venue beautifully. She was such a joy to work with! I would highly recommend!

Our wedding at the Blue Heron was absolutely perfect! Lexi is an amazing coordinator and was so easy to work with when planning our big day. The ceremony was beautiful and the grounds were picturesque. Our dinner was cooked perfectly and served hot by the professional staff. We had the sherry chicken and bistro steak which were both great. The steak was extremely tender and was more similar to a filet than anything else, despite being one of the less expensive steak offerings. If you want a beautiful venue for your wedding and an amazingly experienced onsite coordinator, we cannot recommend the Blue Heron and Lexi enough!

When I began wedding planning, I sorely underestimated the importance of incredible customer service. Our potential vendors ranged from awful to excellent service. However, from the moment of our initial contact with Lexi, it was clear that she would go above and beyond to meet each and every need we had while planning a wedding from Texas.Lexi managed every detail and email inquiry with unimaginable patience, grace and quality. When I began wedding planning, I sorely underestimated the importance of incredible customer service. Our potential vendors ranged from awful to excellent service. However, from the moment of our initial contact with Lexi, it was clear that she would go above and beyond to meet each and every need we had while planning a wedding from Texas.Lexi managed every detail and email inquiry with unimaginable patience, grace and quality. The Blue Heron was the perfect reception venue for our wedding. The view over the golf course was so peaceful and perfect for our guests, and for some of our pictures! Lexi did an amazing job helping coordinate the big day, and listened to all of my desires to make it happen. I am so grateful for all of the staff there who helped make our wedding amazing!

The setting is beautiful, and the ballroom is beautiful. They recently did some upgrades, and they are planning more. Lexi (wedding planner) is very responsive and helpful. Anything we wanted to do, they were on board. Onsite tent allows for last minute inclement weather changes. Food is delicious, and portions are generous.

We had our wedding at The Blue Heron on 6/4/16. Absolutely gorgeous location for both an outdoor ceremony and indoor reception. We had both there. Lexi was wonderful to work with, prompt to answer emails and all of our questions, and made sure our evening was perfectly executed. She plans very thoroughly and is on top of the planning process with her staff. Couldn't have asked for a more gorgeous location and smoother planning process. Would recommend to anyone!

We had our ceremony and reception at the Blue Heron and were blown away by the exceptional service and care. Lexi was fabulous to work with, and made my job as the bride so much easier!! There was not one thing I had to stress about on the wedding day. The renovations and upgrades that have been made to the site are beautiful, and the food was delicious! So many people told me that was the best wedding food they have had. I could go on and on about how happy we were that we chose the Blue Heron!!!

My husband and I worked with Lexi at Blue Heron for our wedding reception this summer. We really wanted to create an evening that was different that other weddings we had been to and that expressed our taste/style. Thus, we came to Lexi with a lot of ideas and plans of our own. She was wonderful and made us feel like anything we wanted would work. They were so easy to work with and the evening went flawlessly. I was so so thankful that we went with Blue Heron. The venue looked beautiful and the food was incredible - we got many complements. I would recommend Blue Heron to any bride.

We had our wedding ceremony and reception at the beautiful Blue Heron at Blackthorn! Lexi was great to work with and was always available to answer all my crazy annoying questions. We had rain the day of our wedding, but I was determined I was going to get married outside. The rain stopped shortly before our wedding and they rushed to get everything set-up. The reception hall was decorated and put together great. Everything looked beautiful. My mother brought in a bunch of stuff for a sweets table and they put it all together for us. It looked beyond amazing. People still talk about it. The food was delicious. It is very rare to go to a wedding and actually have good food. People are still talking about how amazing the food was. This was the perfect venue for my wedding!
