A Place to Expect the Extraordinary
Boo Cat Club is a wedding venue located in St. Louis, MO. The refurbished historical site is brimming with architectural details to enthrall. The team enjoys organizing events where loved ones can mingle at an occasion that strikes the imagination and leaves a lasting impression. A fun and fascinating venue, couples are spoiled for choice when it comes to how they curate their one-of-a-kind event. The building that Boo Cat Club occupies used to be home of the St. Louis Artists’ Guild and Louis C. Spierling was the architect. Initially, the building served as a support for the arts in the local community. Constructed in 1908, a theater was added in 1916. From this stage, productions from many genres were performed, including those by famed Tennessee Williams. Transformed into a non-profit from 1973 to 2013, the current owners Patrick and Carol Schuchard then purchased the property. Renovating the building while preserving the antique charms, the team created a modern ambience with a historic twist. Perhaps you are looking for a traditional ballroom to host your nuptials. Boo Cat Club offers one such space that has an art-gallery style. The tall ceiling converges into a glass skylight for a cultivated feel. Another event space can be found in The Catacombs. White walls in the room are complemented by the sophisticated chandeliers. Elegant arches throughout reveal the history of the building. Also available for gatherings is the theater, a modern space that can be a template for a multitude of styles. To complete the cultured air of the venue, guests will find a baby grand piano. There are also lounges with fireplaces to have your guests feeling they should be sipping cocktails while discussing the latest bestseller. Bar staff is employed to provide these delectable drinks. An event manager assists with your use of the space. The devoted employees work with you to translate your ideas into a happening to remember.

My husband and I got married on 10/7/2023 at Boo Cat Club.The two stars are for the physical location. It’s truly a unique space and a cool way for a wedding venue to host a ceremony and reception, while still feeling like you’re in different spaces. The rentals they offer are beautiful, and we got so many comments on how beautiful our wedding was.However, unfortunately that’s the end of our positive experience.In terms of the venue itself, there are a lot of additional costs and limited hours that make it kind of a pain to plan a full wedding. The area itself, although restored, isn’t that well kept when you really take a look – the ballroom floors are scuffed heavily and the outdoor foliage is not taken care of.We also had issues with the coordinators that were provided through Boo Cat when it came to communication. In the summer, our coordinator left Boo Cat and we were not informed – the only way we knew we had a new coordinator was two months later when I figured it out from my caterer and then emailed the right person trying to schedule a venue visit. Then, we found out the person who was our new coordinator wouldn't even be our day of coordinator.Then, we had concerns the day of the wedding. First, my husband was kicked out of the groom’s lounge two hours early because Brenden the manager had told catering they could set up there – the day of coordinator Marissa didn’t advocate for my husband when she realized what had happened, but rather put his and his party’s stuff in a closet and he was left wandering the building until the ceremony. We did receive a refund from Boo Cat for this error.In addition, 6 of the cars parked by Boo Cat’s complimentary valet service were broken into at 4:30pm across the street from the venue. We completely recognize that this was a crime, and that it has not happened in the past at Boo Cat per their reports. Additionally, we recognize the valet is a separate entity.However, the way the situation was handled felt as though we were being bamboozled, honestly. Our guests were told the valet company would cover it, but then were told Boo Cat was responsible because they declined security options with the valet. Then, come Monday morning, Amy from Boo Cat says that they aren’t responsible and rather than advocate for us to communicate with the valet company, they simply said that was all they could do. they require in their contract that our vendors have liability insurance to cover any damages, and yet their valet company didn’t seem to have that and Boo Cat “didn’t have coverage” in their own insurance.Throughout all of this, Boo Cat never was proactive in helping us- Marissa didn't help with a thing that night, and we had to reach out to Brenden. We received a refund for “issues with the venue”, but none of the information we actually needed to rectify this for our guests like insurance information and the valet contract that we requested. Amy also made us give the number we wanted for the refund, rather than be transparent about what they thought was appropriate (we have seen more transparency with other vendors). Additionally, she has given us no confirmation or reassurance that they will take steps to prevent this in the future like security cameras, hiring security through the valet company, etc. I hope that they respond to this with information about steps they are taking to improve security and safety.

When selecting our wedding venue, Boo Cat Club was an easy choice! We had our ceremony in the catacombs and our reception upstairs in the ballroom and theatre. The venue has so many unique features and photo opportunities and fit perfectly with our decor. Our wedding guests have given us so many compliments on how beautiful the space was. The entire Boo Cat Club team is absolutely amazing. We worked with Brenden on the details before the wedding and he was always responsive and quick to answer questions. He helped us craft signature cocktails that everyone loved. The bartenders were top notch as well and made sure our guests were taken care of. Kate was our day of event manager, and she was nothing short of amazing. She was there throughout the evening in many helpful ways. From getting us down the aisle, to collaborating with the vendors, and was always checking in with us, my MOH, and my parents to make sure we had everything we needed. I was so grateful as the bride to have someone to trust to make sure everything ran smoothly. Do yourself a favor and book Boo Cat Club for your wedding day!

Jess is the most amazing wedding coordinator and took care of countless details with ease!! Wow!! She also did a great job working with all the vendors and bridal party!! My husband and I chose this venue because of the beautiful catacombs... we could immediately picture our ceremony being held there. The venue is very unique in its layout and decor, and that is why we loved it! The only caveat to that was the theatre and the ballroom are two separate rooms with French doors in between. We had guests eating dinner in the ballroom, but due to our guest count, we had some tables in the theatre as well. It was hard for those guests to see the cake cutting and people talking for speeches. And the for the reception, dancing was in the theatre so everyone from the ballroom had to get up to watch first dances and dancing for the remainder of the night. We knew this when we booked and everything worked out fine the day of, but a few of our guests did comment on it. Jess, our venue coordinator, helped us with the floor layouts and timeline to help minimize any potential issues as much as possible.I will say, I thought the venue was a bit pricy, and then once I started planning my timeline and figuring out details, I realized there were a few things things not included in the Boo Cat Club that were included in other venues we toured. For example, you have to pay for early entry if you want to get in earlier than 4 hours before your start time. You have a half hour after the reception ends to get everything out and that includes all trash- flowers, extra cake, etc. You are not guaranteed your rehearsal date until 3 weeks prior which stressed us out with booking a dinner somewhere else. But there were also some things I really liked that the Boo Cat Club offered that other venues did not. They had a lot of decor for rent which was nice and easy. The offer free valet. They also allow real candles which was a must for our vision. Everywhere inside and outside is photogenic and unique- there's not many other venues like it.Jess was always quick to respond to questions and very knowledgeable. She helped the day flow great! The day of went flawlessly and it was exactly as we envisioned. We are so glad we chose this venue and will remember it fondly!

What a dream! The Boo Cat Club was the PERFECT place to host our ceremony and reception on our wedding day! We fell in love with the character of the building and did not have to worry about a lot of additional decor, which made the day easy on us and our family! The lighting and architecture of the catacombs for our ceremony set a beautiful tone and the photos are PHENOMENAL. The entire staff was so kind and helpful. Jess allowed us to truly enjoy every second of our wedding day. Highly, highly recommend this space!

The Boo Cat Club was the perfect comfortable yet elegant place for our wedding reception. Our guests felt free to relax on the upper levels, the bar and reception areas. The candlelit dinner setup downstairs was absolutely beautiful. The band we hired loved working from the theater stage-everyone danced. Jess Dodson managed to calm our fears about planning the reception in St. Louis from our home in Connecticut. Jess and here staff were friendly and attentive. We highly recommend The Boo Cat Club.

The candlelit dinner setup downstairs was absolutely beautiful. The band we hired loved working from the theater stage-everyone danced. Our wedding happened on Saturday 6.18.22 and I am still on cloud nine. I wanted a one stop shop venue for ceremony, dinner, bar, and dancing. And The Boo Cat Club was perfect for that. We had about 125 friends and family attend and it was the best time :) Not only is the venue gorgeous, but also functional. Jess was amazing to work with. I live out of town and was able to easily coordinate from afar. They offer so great add-ons as well. Perfect night :)

It is hard to express how much we loved having our wedding at The Boo Cat Club. It is a beautiful and unique venue and there is so many different ways to bring the space to life. My husband and I chose to have an intimate 30 person ceremony in the catacombs and a 115 person reception following that. Jess, our venue coordinator, did an amazing job helping to bring our vision to life. She was communicative, efficient and easy to work with. She was honest with me about what would work and what wouldn't during the planning process which I really appreciated! She made sure I had a plate of appetizers & our dinner, champagne to toast with and checked in with me at multiple points throughout the night. The remaining bartenders and vendor staff were also incredible. They were so fun and made sure our guests were enjoying themselves the entire night.A few things that are worth considering:115 people in the ball room was extremely tight. If you are having more than 100 people, you may want to consider your floor plan and moving some guests to the theatre room. We loved having the two separate spaces but it was more crowded than we thought it would be. The ball room looks so large when it's empty but is definitely fills up quickly! Overall, our experience with The Boo Cat Club was incredible. If we could do it all over again, we would use this venue and not change a thing. We highly recommend the space, the incredible staff and all the possibilities that come with such a unique and special venue!

The valet (Kevin & Tyrell) were super friendly guys and our guests, including my husband, enjoyed interacting with them before and after the wedding.--pro tip: small flameless candles look AMAZING in this venue, especially in the catacombs! They allow you to have real ones if you'd like, but we found it much easier to use the battery operated ones scattered everywhere. We had booked this place for our wedding ceremony and reception in 2019 with Mo and we fell in love with the venue and the team that we would be working with. Because of Covid a lot had to change and Boo Cat fell under new management. We were able to have our wedding ceremony on 10/03/2020 and I had many of my guests express that Jess, the new coordinator, was extremely rude and pretty much pushing them out of the venue directly after our ceremony was over. Because of this I was not able to even really speak with the guests that came to our ceremony. Again because of Covid I had to have my reception there because they would not not allow us to get a refund our money. We just had our reception on 03/27/2021 and again Jess, the new coordinator, was absolutely terrible to work with. Again, I had guests express to me that they felt she was rude with them, she had chairs and tables cleaned up an hour before our reception was over and while guests were still trying to sit down, I had guests complain to me because they ran out of beer. Upon arrival, the venue was not set up to the original specifications that were laid out to me and then Jess questioned me out the lay out and I had to ask her to get out the floor plan that was originally sent to me in order to show that it was wrong. If I could do it all again I would have never picked this as our venue even though the Boo Cat is absoulty beautiful on both occasions I was upset and my guests were upset with the rudeness of management. Please consider another venue.

My husband and I cannot say enough great things about Boo Cat! Boo Cat made our wedding day wonderful! I wanted a venue where we could do everything all in one without having to do an entire room flip and Boo Cat exceeded my expectations. It's such a beautiful, historic building whose natural beauty makes it easy to decorate because not much decoration is needed. We loved the fact that we could move back and forth throughout the venue when we needed to transition to the next part of our wedding day. The Catacombs is a beautiful place to hold a reception with it's colonial feel and the long tables. Everyone was amazed at the venue and our wedding. We got so many compliments about the venue and our wedding day in general. What made the venue even more great was that most people had never heard of Boo Cat prior to our wedding so they didn't know what to expect upon entry. Many were blown away by it's elegance. Not only is Boo Cat great for it's design but also for the staff. Kelly was the main point of contact we had throughout the entire planning process and on the day of the wedding and she is awesome! She is so calm and patient and always had an answer for any needs or concerns and was just great to work with. Even Steve was great to have since he helped Kelly on the day of our wedding. I would recommend Boo Cat to anyone looking for a venue with so much character and a great staff. We'll forever be grateful that we made the decision to start our union at Boo Cat!

I wanted a venue where we could do everything all in one without having to do an entire room flip and Boo Cat exceeded my expectations. It's such a beautiful, historic building whose natural beauty makes it easy to decorate because not much decoration is needed. We loved the fact that we could move back and forth throughout the venue when we needed to transition to the next part of our wedding day. The Catacombs is a beautiful place to hold a reception with it's colonial feel and the long tables. Everyone was amazed at the venue and our wedding. We got so many compliments about the venue and our wedding day in general. What made the venue even more great was that most people had never heard of Boo Cat prior to our wedding so they didn't know what to expect upon entry. Many were blown away by it's elegance. Not only is Boo Cat great for it's design but also for the staff. Kelly was the main point of contact we had throughout the entire planning process and on the day of the wedding and she is awesome! She is so calm and patient and always had an answer for any needs or concerns and was just great to work with. Even Steve was great to have since he helped Kelly on the day of our wedding. I would recommend Boo Cat to anyone looking for a venue with so much character and a great staff. We'll forever be grateful that we made the decision to start our union at Boo Cat!

Enroute I found places that had strict relationships with predictable caterers or were so bare bones, as far as resources, that I feared I would spend my entire wedding day working. \r\rThe Boo Cat Club was the opposite of these qualities and stood out as the perfect solution for me. I was able to bring in everything I wished to make the day reflect my husband and my personalities. \rFrom my preferred caterer, a local, vegetarian friendly space to a Ma and Pa bakery, to my artist friend and florist, to a musician friend, each of these choices created my idea of a perfect day. So one great things about Boo Cat is choice and flexibility. \r\rI also felt supported, Brian, the space manager was easy to reach and quick to return a call. I was able to visit the space multiple times with my various vendors and that led to a smooth reception. He was also there the during the event to problem solve should anything have had come up. \r\rFinally I appreciated the beauty of the space. I received hundreds of compliments from the wedding guests about how much they loved the building. Their was a simple, elegant beauty to the space that made my wedding feel extra special. Knowing that I was a part of St. Louis history by being in this space that had hosted St. Louis greats, added another layer of meaning to the night. We even managed a photo booth in the front sitting room. Everything went off without a hitch! ALL of our guests, from near and far, were so enchanted with the building, its history, its unassuming exterior, and that we were able to really throw a wedding that represented us as a couple. The team at the Boo Cat are lovely to work with, very communicative and flexible. We are so proud of our photos and our choices for our wedding day. We rented Boo Cat for rehearsal Friday night and then ceremony & reception on Saturday. The BCC is literally one of the best venues I have used (and visited)!\rAs a result, we selected the BCC as our wedding venue for several reasons. \r1. The location was central for our guests. Many expressed appreciation for the location being conveniently located.\r2. The space is the awesome... it has so much original character that my guests could not stop talking about it (many were impressed with the sky light ceiling, balcony and Catacombs area).\r3. The space also offers a variety of options for the wedding, reception, etc. \rI didn't feel limited in the space - which I've experienced in some other venues. \r4. The management was responsive, professional and provided very relevant information (preferred vendors, advice, etc.) that really improved the coordination, planning and process. \rI particularly appreciated the interaction w/Brian and Katie and the relationships they developed with their preferred vendors(Belli Fiori, Table Ten and Russo's). I truly believe the connection with the vendors was instrumental in our wedding day success and the kindness and professionalism was extended to us and our guests.\r\rOverall, I wouldn't change ONE thing about our wedding day. We hosted our ceremony and reception at the Boo Cat Club in late May 2015. We held the ceremony in the Ballroom, the Cocktail hour in the Theater, the dinner in the Catacombs, and the dancing back in the Theater. It all worked out perfectly, absolutely perfectly. (While we were doing the ceremony upstairs, the caterers were setting up downstairs. While we were eating downstairs, the DJ was setting up upstairs for the dancing.) The whole thing went so smoothly and looked so beautiful. We had about 140 guests total, which felt like the *perfect* number for the Boo Cat Club. The cost of the venue was slightly higher than other venues of the same size/quality in St. Louis (Thus, the four-star rating on value).\r\rWe decided on the Ballroom for the ceremony because of the huge skylight - we haven't seen the pictures yet, but we know they will look wonderful with all the natural sunlight. And the space needs very little decoration to look breathtaking. \r\rThe Catacombs was perfect for dinner because of the huge feast-like tables down there; they required no table linens and almost no decorations to look stunning. We put small electric candles around the pillars and some flowers on the tables, and that was all that was needed to make the space look just incredible. 140 fit in the Catacombs, but I wouldn't have wanted to push it much higher than that.\r\rThe Theater was perfect for the reception/dancing. We had a bar both down on the first level, and also opened the bar upstairs for the earlier part of the night. The DJ was on the stage and the dance floor was right in front of the DJ, with a few large round tables and a few high-top tables surrounding the dance floor. There was also a few larger round tables and chairs set up in the Ballroom for guests that wanted to just sit down and take a break and have a drink. \r\rBoo Cat Club did all the drinks for us, too. The prices weren't great - higher than most other venues in St. Louis. (Thus, the four-star rating on value). But they had a great selection, and didn't run out of anything, as far as I know. I only interacted with one bar tender during the night, and she was fantastic.\r\rThere is also a beautiful bridal suite to sit in with your bridesmaids before the ceremony and an ultra-cool upstairs bar that can serve drinks away from the action. There is also a front room for gifts and wedding favors with two original fireplaces. Valet is available, but we didn't use is; big parking available.\r\rThe best part about the space is that it is so unassuming on the outside and so unbelievably unique on the inside - you can really make the space work for your own event. So many guests commented on how amazing the space was. \r\rFinally, working with Brian, the venue coordinator, was so easy. On our first visit, he let us wonder around the space and envision our wedding day. On our final walk through (one week before the wedding) my hubby and I changed the whole game plan for the wedding day and Brian just went with it - actually, he encouraged us to make any changes we wanted in order to feel good about our wedding day. \r\rI really can't say enough about the Boo Cat Club. We booked the venue before they had hosted even one wedding and the place was still under construction, that's how confident we were in this venue and the people behind it. And I think we were only about the Boo Cat Club's 6th or 7th wedding, but no one at the wedding could have ever known because everything went so smoothly.

We hosted our ceremony and reception at the Boo Cat Club in late May 2015. We held the ceremony in the Ballroom, the Cocktail hour in the Theater, the dinner in the Catacombs, and the dancing back in the Theater. It all worked out perfectly, absolutely perfectly. (While we were doing the ceremony upstairs, the caterers were setting up downstairs. While we were eating downstairs, the DJ was setting up upstairs for the dancing.) The whole thing went so smoothly and looked so beautiful. We had about 140 guests total, which felt like the *perfect* number for the Boo Cat Club. The cost of the venue was slightly higher than other venues of the same size/quality in St. Louis (Thus, the four-star rating on value).\r\rWe decided on the Ballroom for the ceremony because of the huge skylight - we haven't seen the pictures yet, but we know they will look wonderful with all the natural sunlight.
