Stunning Barrel Roof, Newly Remodeled Great Hall
The Bur Oak is an independently run event venue in the heart of Atwood neighborhood. The Bur Oak Team did major renovations to the space bringing new life to the century old, historic building. They exposed the barrel roof, brick walls, and hand laid tile. We used reclaimed wood specific to the era and added a viennese style stage to the Great Hall. The bar top is hand poured concrete and finished with a hard lacquer to capture an aged look. The remodel is new, but feels lived in and homey with a current capacity of 130 people. Whether you're gathering to watch local entertainment or to celebrate one of the most significant times of your life on your wedding day, the collective dream of this space is to bring all walks of life together for great conversation. We had a great experience hosting our wedding reception at The Bur Oak. We toured several venues in the Madison area, and this was the perfect spot to host our 75 person event. The size and of this place sets the tone for an intimate event. The Bur Oak has beautiful brick and wood accents and perfect warm lighting. The Events Director Ashlee is good at her job - she will make you feel welcome and taken care of. She replied to all of our questions with speed and a smile. If you're thinking of having a live band, this is the place to do it! They're a music venue so they know what they're doing, have their own sound engineer and large enough stage for our 7 person band. Another huge bonus is that they have their own tables and chairs, so you don't need to coordinate bringing those rentals in. We had two signature drinks and the bartenders nailed it. We were worried about guests from the on-site restaurant being a nuisance during the reception, but we hardly even noticed it. We're so happy we chose to have our wedding reception here!

We had my daughter’s wedding here and it was perfect! Ashlee was amazing to work with and the staff all accommodating. The venue was a perfect setting and needed few decorations. We received so many compliments from our guests on how wonderful the place was. I would highly recommend this place to anyone considering it.

It's challenging to find a reasonable price for venue in Madison; The Bur Oak is the winner! Gorgeous inside (not much extra decoration needed), amazing staff and the delightful Ashlee is on her game plus a pleasure to work with! Many compliments on the ambiance. Definitely recommend!

Biggest thanks to the talented and accommodating Bur Oak crew for making our day better than we could have imagined. The Bur Oak is absolutely beautiful and has an inviting atmosphere and magical ambience. Ashlee was available to answer all of my questions throughout the planning process and made it so easy—there was never a worry or concern. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how much fun they had, the amazing bar staff, and the one-of-a-kind venue. Thanks again for going above and beyond for us!

The first time we visited Bur Oak, I mentioned to my other half it would be a beautiful site for a wedding... But at the time it was not accommodating for our then 200 person guest list. The wood detail, styling, lighting, was just our style. Once our wedding plans changed due to the pandemic, we knew who to call.Ashlee and Andrew were a dream to work with. They were accommodating in working with our budget, making things happen on a short timeline, and super friendly to our family and closest friends. They went above and beyond in helping us play and pause our playlist on cue, as well as get the stage lighting just-so for our ceremony. They even assisted us in selecting our perfect tap list. We especially loved that our guests could come and go from the patio. As always, the venue was stunning and sparkly clean for our wonderful, memorable wedding day!
