The Citadel Beach Club is a waterfront wedding destination in the Isle of Palms, SC. Couples can celebrate their love in this modern and spacious two-story beach house to the soundtrack of waves gently breaking upon the shore. Its nautical charm is matched by attentive staff service, which will support couples to realize their dream event. The Colonel Robert R. McCormick Beach Club of The Citadel was founded in 1958, in tribute to one of the US Army’s most distinguished members. A towering figure of the early 20th-century, McCormick played important roles in both WW1 and thereafter as the publisher of the Chicago Tribune. Nowadays, this 5-acre property is more known for its stunning ocean views and top-shelf facilities. On the beach couples can exchange vows as the crisp kiss of surf grazes the sand at their feet. The Blue & Grey Pavilion is a magnificent venue to continue celebrating outdoors in the crisp sea air. Sheltered from the elements, this bright and airy perfect setting for taking vivid wedding photographs. For those who would prefer to celebrate indoors, the Beach Club Ballroom will charm guests with its nautical tone and gorgeous vaulted wood ceiling. Its large windows look out over the ocean, and there is a large patio on which guests can mingle and enjoy a sunset cocktail. During the colder months the sea takes on a sublime tone of chilling grey, and the halls fireplace welcomes all with a loving warm embrace. The staff of the Citadel Beach Club embodies the dedication and high-standards associated with one of the nation’s most well regarded military academies. Couples can throw a grand gala event for up to 250 guests with ample support from the event coordination team. This includes the setup and take down of the event, and establishing a floor plan. The venue has exclusive contracts for catering and bar services with some of the region’s most lauded vendors.

Michael was amazing for planning our wedding! He had recommended vendors and answered our 1000 questions so quickly. The venue was beautiful and perfect for our 100 guest wedding. My only fault lies not with Michael but with the tide. We wanted a beach wedding but record tides flooded the beach the week of our wedding so we had to switch to a lawn ceremony. Still beautiful but a scramble to change from beach chairs to real chairs last minute. Loved the Citadel Beach Club so much!

beautiful venue. so much fun, so many different backdrops and places for quests to spread out. Michael made the process easy and was there answering my questions throughout the planning process. he made the process straightforward and was easy to work with. we danced so hard at our wedding I'm so happy it was there.

The best venue ever! The scenery alone is gorgeous and everything is updated/ clean. There is so much space and Michael was great to work with! He answered all of our questions promptly and gave us great vendor recommendations. We 100% recommend this venue!

So happy with the whole experience of the Citadel Beach Club!!! Not only was the venue stunning and everything I dreamed of for a beach wedding, but Michael was so kind and helpful throughout the process. He always answered our questions and let us stop by the venue when needed so we could plan everything. He helped recommend vendors and went above and beyond what a wedding venue normally does. The staff did a great job setting up the indoor tables & chairs for us on the day of, and everything was just perfect. I can't say enough great things. Thank you to Michael and the Citadel Beach Club for making our wedding day the best ever!!!

The beach house is an amazing venue that’s close to, but not on the beach. We had our ceremony on the outside lawn, cocktail hour on the back patio, and reception inside which worked out perfectly. Michael was very nice and helpful with the whole process. He answered all our questions and they helped with the indoor reception set up day of. Would definitely recommend!

We loved the citadel beach house the moment we did our first tour! The venue is absolutely gorgeous with lots of options. You can get married on the sand, lawn, or indoors. Michael was extremely helpful and easy to work with from day one. We can’t thank him enough for helping make our dream wedding come true. The venue is affordable including all the table and chairs inside. They also set everything up and break it down, which is huge! I highly recommend the CBH for all future brides!

We loved the citadel beach house the moment we did our first tour! The venue is absolutely gorgeous with lots of options. You can get married on the sand, lawn, or indoors. Michael was extremely helpful and easy to work with from day one. We can’t thank him enough for helping make our dream wedding come true. The venue is affordable including all the table and chairs inside. They also set everything up and break it down, which is huge! I highly recommend the CBH for all future brides!

We had our wedding ceremony and reception on the lawn of the Citadel Beach Club in May 2021. Wow!!! The ocean views are amazing and the spring breeze was incredible! We loved working with Michael - he's super laid back, easy to work with and very knowledgeable about what has/hasn't worked at previous events. An absolutely breathtaking place to get married!

My husband and I just recently got hitched here at the beach club (less than a week ago!) and we loved the venue. Not only was it exactly our beachy taste, but the space gives you room for different settings inside and outside (beach, dunes, backyard, porch, inside etc..) and makes great photo ops for you and your guests pictures. Michael was super helpful and was there during the rehearsal and the wedding day to ensure things run smoothly. We had such a terrific time, and our elderly guests were able to use the elevator to go from inside to outside easily.

The beach club was beyond perfect for our wedding day. Not only is the venue beautiful, but Michael, the Manager, is incredible. Michael was so helpful and responsive from even before we selected the venue for our day. Michael also proved to be such a nice supporter the week and the day of - even in the moments before walking down the aisle (when I was by myself inside) - he definitely helped me keep my calm. My sister was married here almost exactly 11 years prior. We tried to find another venue, but there was truly no other choice for us. Since my sister was married here, the venue has opened up to allow you to choose everything you need for your event, and having a manager as wonderful as Michael ensures everything is run smoothly throughout. If you are trying to choose between this space and another one, we can honestly say that if you choose the Citadel Beach Club, you will not be disappointed.

The beach club was a huge hit! Although it rained on my day, Michael and my wedding planner made the inside room look beautiful and accommodating for my guests! I wouldn't have changed a thing! Michael was a huge help in planning our wedding, as well. He was very nice and helpful every step of the way. I would recommend the Citadel Beach Club to anyone.

This was the reception venue for 2 Citadel grads. The venue was awesome all around, from the stunning location to the gorgeous ballroom, to the wonderfully supportive staff. Michael was supportive, responsive, and flexible throughout the whole process, and there is not a more beautiful site around Charleston. You get a lot of space for your money in addition to beachfront access AND we had a 5-hour event with setup and breakdown all included. The lobby is huge, and was flexible enough for us to put multiple tables for cards, pictures, guest books, etc and still have an easel for a guest table seating poster and two wooden benches. The mezzanine is awesome for pictures, and became a fun spot for the kids ages 4-13 to hang out that night when they weren't dancing! We had our choice of layout, and we went with a long head table centered on the fireplace, with pictures on the mantel and 9 round tables. The catering/bartending is chosen for you as part of the contract, comes with The Citadel, but they were fabulous. The food was awesome and the drinks were flowing. We used Michael's advice and put the bar on the porch which gave us room for awesome guest flow, spaced out tables, and a fun/large dance floor anchored with cocktail tables. Outstanding venue!

What a great venue! We were able to get married on the water, but didn't have to transport people around when it was time for the reception. It was a perfect fit for what we were looking for. Michael was very accommodating, friendly and professional. The inside was newly done over and absolutely beautiful. The catering company that you will use through them was phenomenal, they had every option we could have looked for and were very fair in pricing. We could not have asked for more, and wouldn't change a thing if we did it over a hundred times

The venue offers so much, we were able to do an outdoor ceremony, hold the cocktail hour on the back patio and move the reception inside after sunset. The kitchen was able to accommodate prep for 175+ guests, with seating inside and out for all to mingle. The Bridal party had a place to dress and leave all the 'stuff' that accompanied them. The day couldn't have gone any better, the guests were happy, the bridal party was ecstatic and Micheal was terrific! Just a side note, the elevator provided much-needed help with the elderly guests, they were able to participate in all the activities!! Highly Recommend!

Michael, the caretaker, was very helpful and always answered questions in a timely manner and was so polite. I would recommend this venue to anyone wanting a beautiful beach front reception or wedding venue.

The Citadel Beach Club is an incredible venue! We had our wedding ceremony and reception here and it went perfectly. Our guests loved the food, atmosphere, and the amazing views! Michael, the manager, is great to work with and answered all of my questions. Also, we loved that the venue is brand new! The in-house caterer worked out very smoothly and the food was so delicious. The venue fit 150 guests comfortably. We are so pleased with the venue and highly recommend it for weddings!

Michael, the manager, is great to work with and answered all of my questions. Also, we loved that the venue is brand new! The in-house caterer worked out very smoothly and the food was so delicious. The venue fit 150 guests comfortably. We are so pleased with the venue and highly recommend it for weddings!

This is a beautiful venue on the beach, with great views and newly remodeled reception hall. The live-in caretaker was great through the whole process, answering all questions in a timely manner and offering suggestions about set-up. He allowed us to make a few visits to the venue ahead of time to help with our planning, and was flexible with allowing us extra set-up time on the day of. However, the day-of manager was very unfriendly and curt with our wedding party and guests. Even our other vendors thought she was very rude. It was embarrassing to have our guests come up to us at the reception and comment on how she shooed them out of the building or questioned who they were or why they were in the building. She could have maintained an organized and clear prep space just as easily by making her requests in a nice tone. It is very distressing to know that you spent a LOT of money on a venue, only to have your guests and vendors feel unwelcome. The day-of manager should be someone who handles stress well and can at the same time maintain a friendly and helpful attitude.
