We had a wonderful experience at this venue! It was so beautiful & big! We had the option to do an outdoor or indoor ceremony and ended up going with an indoor ceremony, which was perfect! Shannon and Lorah were amazing to work with- 10/10 recommend! We are so happy with our decision!

We were planning our wedding about a year out with no idea what we were doing. Lorah was SUPER helpful. She gave us a list of trusted vendors and basically took some of the initial shock and stress out of planning. She answered all of our (1,000) questions in a very timely fashion and our whole event went amazingly. We met Shannon, our \"day of\" event coordinator the week of our wedding. She was outstanding. We both felt drained and ready to \"get it over with\" that week. Shannon's personality and knack for keeping things moving smoothly put us at ease and made us super excited again. Everything went according to plan and all our guests said it was one of the best weddings they had ever been to. We both truly feel like these women our friends of ours now. There were so many wonderful moments that I couldn't even pick out a \"favorite part.\" Vadnais Heights Commons is a beautiful and affordable venue and we would highly recommend their space for your special day!

Due to Covid, we had to postpone our daughter and son-in-lawâs wedding reception, so we held a Renewal of Vows ceremony and Reception on their anniversary at Vadnais Heights Commons. The Commons was spacious and gorgeous in winter. Lorah was very accommodating as we rescheduled our date. She and Shannon were calm, professional, friendly, and handled the logistics of the Reception so that we could enjoy our family and friends. That was a tremendous gift! Our celebration exceeded our expectations.

My husband and I had an amazing experience with Lorah and Shannon. The planning process was easy and the wedding day was perfect. As the bride, I didn't do anything besides get married and enjoy the evening on the day of. I had not one thing to worry about because everything was taken care of by everyone involved there at The Commons. The venue is beautiful, the vendor options are phenomenal, especially Noah the DJ and Molly for food, and the people who work there are ontop of everything. Our guests were extremely happy and everyone we've spoken to has raved about how nice of a wedding it was. I'd highly recommend.

We rented VHC for our wedding reception and were delighted with the way it all came together. While there were some restrictions regarding vendors, for the most part we were able to create the space that we wanted with the people we wanted! We appreciated the promptness with which Lorah responded to our questions, and her questions helped me make sure we covered the smallest detail. Overall, it was the perfect space for our celebration and we would highly recommend it!

We were so happy with Vadnais Heights Commons- Lorah and Amy were amazing planners and so kind and helpful. Planning our wedding amidst COVID was stressful and they were incredibly easy to work with. The space was beautiful and was able to accommodate a lot of people safely and comfortably. The larger main hall area looked so pretty for both our ceremony and reception and we loved it so much!

We are grateful to have planned our wedding through VHC. Because of Covid-19, we have had to make some hard decisions. They were willing to refund us for the ceremony so we could hold a backyard wedding with family instead. They also moved our reception date to celebrate with family & friends the following year with no issues. Lorah is great to work with and so helpful! Not to mention, it's such a beautiful space too!

Winter weddings at Vadnais Heights Commons could not be more romantic, cozy, and beautiful. The floor to ceiling windows allow for the lights from the trees and the glow from the hockey rink shine as the perfect Minnesota backdrop. The breathtaking tree in the foyer with the large two-sided fireplace also adds to the warm and welcoming feel. The space has lots of character with areas such as the shadow boxes to add your own personal touches to make your day unique to you and your spouse. Lorah, Pam, and all of the staff members at VHC are kind, helpful, and insightful and walk with you throughout the planning process to ensure that your day looks and goes the way you have always dreamed. Their expertise in coordinating weddings is evident, as they offer wonderful suggestions and answer all of your questions promptly. We used many vendors from their preferred lists including Donatelli's (Catering with linens included), Spicy Meatball (DJ services), Complete Beverage Service, Grand Design (Lights), and Photo Booth Creations. We would not have changed a thing about the vendors we chose, and it was reassuring knowing that these vendors were familiar with the space and staff members at VHC. VHC is a no-brainer for a wedding venue, especially when looking for a breathtaking space for a timeless winter wedding. Our wedding was my 4th winter wedding I have attended at VHC and every time, I am blown away by how beautiful this venue is! I recommend this for anyone looking for a venue that can accommodate a large wedding (315+ people), offer a beautiful canvas to make your own, and staff that can turn your dream wedding into reality!

Our wedding reception at VHC in November was everything we could have wished for! The venue itself is stunning, from the high wood beams, fireplace, to the beautiful windows. The location is convenient as it is right outside of the busy downtown areas of St. Paul/Minneapolis and in a nice neighborhood area. All of the staff at VHC were extremely helpful, organized, and accommodating to ensure the day was what we had envisioned. They even let us hang outdoor Christmas lights on the trees outside! Their âpreferred/required vendorsâ made wedding planning easy with great options (Donatelliâs was amazing!) The timeline and process the VHC follows really helps alleviate stress on the bride and groom week of and day of! They sure take care of you. If I could choose VHC again, I definitely would!

Our family has had the pleasure of hosting two winter wedding receptions at this venue, and it truly provides a magical backdrop for the special day!The building is gorgeous with a large foyer area, a two-sided fireplace, and a magnificent reception area that is large enough to accommodate 350 plus guests comfortably. The floor-to-ceiling windows allow for natural light to filter in during the day, and outdoor sparkling lights to provide a romantic glow at night time. The entire staff at Vadnais Commons was extremely helpful when planning the day. Lorah and Pam, event coordinators for VHC, met with us several times to go over various items regarding the receptions, and they were there to make sure the events ran smoothly. We had a dreamy wedding at the Vadnais Heights Commons. Our coordinator was organized and thorough, which made the day run smoothly. We received many compliments about the space and flow of the day. This venue also works with Donatelli's catering, which is amazing food! It was a great party!My only suggestion is that you check-in with the venue about their decorating rules. We brought our own candles for the tables only to find out (the day of the event) that they did not meet fire-code standard. We could have easily prevented this if we had known beforehand! Make sure your coordinator informs you about their guidelines.

We are so glad that we chose to have our wedding reception at the Vadnais Heights Commons this past September. As we began our venue search, I had honestly never even heard of VHC but when I came across it and saw pictures, we immediately jumped at the chance to tour. When we saw the space for the first time, I was completely blown away. The space is beautiful, it was large enough to fit our large guest count, the price was reasonable, they had a list of caterers we could choose from that was within our budget, and the staff we worked with were phenomenal. We were lucky enough to work with Pam as our VHC coordinator and she was so fabulous. She gave us great advice, was willing to answer any and all questions along the way, and really was willing to do anything and everything she could to make it our dream day. Iâm so happy to say that she 100% exceeded our expectations. When we got to the day of, Pam, the staff and vendors were incredible. We really had the most wonderful day and Pam and the rest of the VHC staff played a HUGE role in that. If I could do it over, I would 100% choose VHC each and every time. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

We LOVED this space for our reception. We had a lot of guests and VHC did not feel cramped, but radiant and elegant and beautiful. Our communication was great, but make sure you read all the fine print before signing! We were able to make everything work with only a few hiccups along the way. We had maybe three event coordinator changes throughout our planning time, with a last second change the week of, but we were very flexible and everything went swimmingly without a hitch! But I want to be honest that the changes were odd and if someone is more Type A it might not have been an ideal fit. Overall, we loved our day and being able to celebrate at VHC.

Everything about the venue is amazing! It's absolutely beautiful, spacious, and is a wonderful space to host a wedding. A couple things that are hard have to do with things the city has in place. They are very strict with what you can and cannot do within the venue. As long as you are flexible, it is fine but some things may be hard for some couples (no glitter, etc). Also, on top of the general venue fees they also charge a 12% venue fee for the food, beverage, and decorating caterers. So it is 12% of the food, beverage, and decorating costs which are also separate from those caterers service fees. Just a lot of fees that add up in the end. Beyond that, Lorah and her team at the Commons are great to work with! They were very knowledgeable and fairly prompt in answering questions or concerns that we had. Amy worked with us day of as our event coordinator and she was marvelous. She stepped in when needed and helped the day run smoothly! Overall, a great experience!

We LOVED Vadnais Heights Commons for our June 1, 2019 wedding!! Pam and team met with us several times leading up to our wedding to make sure all of the details were thought through. VHC has vendors to recommend or you can bring in your own. As far as the big day - weather obliged so we were able to have our ceremony outdoors! The day of staff was fantastic, if anything went wrong we never knew. They even made sure we had drinks waiting for us as dinner. :) Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a modern, private, approachable venue!!

I've photographed several weddings at Vadnais Heights Commons and this has become one of my favorite venues. The staff is amazing to work with and the venue is full of beautiful sunlight and lots of room for guests. Good natural light is always a huge bonus for us photographers and this venue is full of it.

My friend had her wedding here three years ago and when I got engaged, I knew we had to book here too. We had an amazing time working with and planning with the VHC for our wedding on November 17, 2018! There was a lot of emailing back and forth to work through the plans, and Lorah worked hard to make meeting times fit with our work schedules. From start to finish, the day went wonderful. We had three different hosts float throughout the day to assist with wedding details. The fireplace in the entryway is an absolutely beautiful addition too! Three months later and we still feel like it was all a dream.

You will not find a better venue than VHC! To start, the venue is absolutely gorgeous. You can dress it up as much as you want, but you really don't need much to make it sparkle. I guarantee a single visit will convince you this is the venue for you. However, what I truly loved was the professionalism and promptness of the coordinators I worked with. When it came down to finalizing the details in the last two months, their team did an outstanding job of following up with vendors and me. I couldn't believe how great they were. Lorah and Pam had all of my best interests and were ready to make the day as smooth as possible. They will ask a lot of necessary questions!! And from what I've heard, most coordinators are not this thorough. Our day was as smooth as could be and our day-of coordinator was everything we could ask for. She is an absolute necessity to your day. I was able to sit back and relax without any worries! And when one of the vendors had a little oopsie, they made sure to hold them accountable and fixed it all without involving me. This was a perfect day and I couldn't have asked for more. My husband and I both agree we did everything right in choosing this venue.

I fell in love with The Commons the first time I looked at the venue. Any other venue just didn't compare to the open concept and floor to ceiling windows. Lorah was easy to work with even though she had so many other weddings to coordinate. Now onto vendors... The Commons has a preferred list of vendors that you have to choose from for Catering, DĂ©cor and Alcohol and then \"Suggested Exceptional\" vendors for officiant, music, photography, etc... Depending on what kind of bride you are, this could be a good or bad thing being narrowed down to certain vendors only. I chose True Taste Event & Catering with Chef Jeff and was pleased with the food selection and pricing available. We received compliments on the food from various guests. One thing to note is that Chef Jeff is pretty busy running his catering business plus his restaurant inside The Landmark Center so he may not respond to you immediately. I sent a couple of emails and texts a few weeks before the wedding to go over last minute details and guest count and he never responded until the Monday before the wedding. It turned out to be fine but if you're a control freak like me, it can be nerve-wracking. Another important note to mention is that Lorah assigns you an event coordinator for the wedding day that is a separate payment from the venue. One of the downfalls of this is that you don't get to meet your coordinator until the week of so trying to cram your vision into a 1-hour session with the coordinator can be very stressful. However, I worked with Pam and in our short time together, she was extremely pleasant to work with and helped made my wedding day go smoothly. Overall, I had a pleasant experience at VHC and would recommend this venue to friends and family!

We had our wedding on May 5th, 2018. I would say our wedding was NOT the most traditional. But this defiantly did not scare Lorah, if anything Lorah and her team was even more supportive. Lorah gave us 150% of her time and energy. She gave us personal advice with our best interest in mind. We are very so lucky to have our very special day at Vadnais Heights Commons and to be able to say our wedding day was FLAWLESS. This defiantly would not have happened out the experience and step by step planning Lorah helped us with. Lorah and her team also stayed on top of the schedule and did a phenomenal job communicative with other vendors. The entire staff at Vadnais Heights Commons made sure everything went off like clockwork during the event. They were attentive the whole time and took care of anything we needed. We defiantly recommend this location for all of our personal friends and families.

The Vadnais Commons was a perfect place for us to have my daughters wedding. It is a spacious but warm location with windows on two full sides of the main reception area. The entry and cocktail area is beautiful with the fireplace and, in December it had a beautiful tree with white lights where many guests took photos. Through the use of vendors, Grand Designs and Flore Inspired, we transformed the room into an elegant, breathtaking experience for our 265 guests. Creative Catering worked wonders with the food and we got many compliments. Spicy Meatball took amazing photos and also as the DJ kept the guest dancing until the very end. Photo booth Creations made an amazing guest book and Walter Mueller Studio has awed us with the wedding video. When you visit Vadnais Commons it is important to keep in mind how it will be with everything set up and how you can build your own vision. We loved it and so did our guests.

This venue was perfect for our 250 guests. The Vadnais Heights Commons was a wonderful venue for both our wedding ceremony and reception! The venue is gorgeous with it's wood interior and large floor to ceiling windows. We were blown away when we first went to look at the space and knew we needed to have our wedding there. The venue has space to hold small and large parties. Our wedding was around 250 people which was a perfect size for the space. The staff at the venue were excellent to work with. They helped check-in and had several meetings with us throughout our planning process to make sure we were on track with everything. Emails and questions were promptly responded to as well. The day of the wedding everything went so smoothly and our on-site coordinators were great! I highly recommend taking a look at the Vadnais Heights Commons.

The Vadnais Heights Commons was a wonderful venue for both our wedding ceremony and reception! The venue is gorgeous with it's wood interior and large floor to ceiling windows. We were blown away when we first went to look at the space and knew we needed to have our wedding there. The venue has space to hold small and large parties. Our wedding was around 250 people which was a perfect size for the space. The staff at the venue were excellent to work with. They helped check-in and had several meetings with us throughout our planning process to make sure we were on track with everything. Emails and questions were promptly responded to as well. The day of the wedding everything went so smoothly and our on-site coordinators were great! I highly recommend taking a look at the Vadnais Heights Commons.

Overall we were very happy with the Vadnais Commons! Lorah Palmer was very easy to work with and readily available for any questions or concerns I had prior to the wedding and the day of the wedding. All the vendors on the preferred vendor list we worked with were amazing, (Donatellis, Grand Design, photo booth creations, and Tom Schoolmeesters) EXCEPT for complete beverage. The day of the wedding, the male bartender was extremely rude and unprofessional. We paid for two bars to be open for the entire reception and they closed one down for almost an hour. A family friend spent 20 minutes convincing them that we paid for two bars the entire night before they finally called Lorah to confirm the bar hours. We paid for keg beer, but they didn't bring any. Drinks were watered down. They didn't serve the headtable drinks. Again, we love the commons, but were extremely disappointed in complete beverage, it was a complete disaster. I would not recommend them to anyone in the future.

VHC is hands down the BEST VALUE for a wedding venue in the Twin Cities. Trust me, I did all the research and this place was phenomenal. I got so many compliments on the venue; people were absolutely floored by the facility. My fiancé and I really wanted a venue that was private, had outdoor space and was naturally beautiful. We also didn't want to have to worry about capacity issues with our fluctuating guest list, and I knew with this place we wouldn't have to deal with the stress of bumping up against maximum capacity issues (it's incredibly spacious). They also have vendor recommendations that they have fully vetted that are all fantastic (and economical!). This takes a lot of work out of finding, vetting and securing high quality vendors (caterer, DJ, decorator, etc.).And as if the venue wasn't amazing enough on its own (it is), Lorah Palmer - your main point of contact - is outstanding. I cannot stress this enough, but if you have not planned a wedding before (the norm), you need someone on your team who knows what they are doing. Lorah is that person and then some; she is an absolute pro with countless years of experience. I know other reviews rave about Lorah, but let me tell you this: the fact that she is included in the venue cost is simply PRICELESS. I would have happily paid twice as much as we paid for the experience of working with Lorah (and we were on a tight budget). Everything from meeting with us throughout the wedding planning process as many times as we wanted to working with our cake vendor who happened to have \"no record of our cake order\" (Lorah had a beautiful cake there within an hour and had the company issue us a gift card that more than covered the cake), Lorah's involvement in our wedding planning and big day helped both the groom and I fully enjoy our engagement and bid day stress free. I always knew everything was in good hands, and that was absolutely priceless.Book VHC for your big day - you will NOT be disappointed!

The Commons was a gorgeous space for our wedding reception. It is very simple yet has a lot of character, and there is so much that you can do to transform it into your dream wedding reception. I am the owner of BRIE cater and we are a preferred caterer at the VHC. From our experience catering at venues across the metro VHC is the most accommodating for us. The results will show. Having a commercial kitchen attached to the event space is unheard of. We are able to finish on site and serve top quality food and flavor. Our recent event at VHC went perfectly and our staff commented on how great it was to work there and the people involved with VHC were nice and great to work with. Looking forward to many more successful events!

Vadnais Heights Commons is a gorgeous, clean and spacious facility. We were able to decorate how we pleased and really felt that we had the freedom to create a warm and loving atmosphere that felt like \"us.\"Lorah Palmer (VHC coordinator) was helpful in the planning process. When we had any vendor-related issues, Lorah was very responsive and moved quickly to resolve any problems we faced. The day of the wedding went perfectly. Per our request, Lorah and her team flawlessly executed a major room flip for our 200+ guest wedding in just over an hour. Impressive. One downside to a wedding reception at VHC is that a Sheriff presence is required, at your expense. For the $300 we paid for the required service, I assumed that security was to remain behind the scenes and meant to be present to monitor potentially out-of-control guests. This was not the case, as the Sheriff on duty at our wedding was inside the reception hall lurking around the dance floor. He repeatedly grabbed drinks (that guests had purchased from the cash bar) from high-top tables and threw them in the trash if guests set them down to move to the dance floor. To my extreme displeasure, the security officer also showed up in a considerable number of my professional wedding photos.Overall, our experience at VHC was great, and we would recommend booking your big day there, just be mindful that there will likely be a Sheriff present at the reception acting as if boundaries between guests and security don't exist.

Honestly, booking at Vadnis Heights Commons was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding day. The space is stunning and filled with light. One of the best things about it is that it is so beautiful, decorations don't have to be over the top to make a big impact. We had both our ceremony and reception at The Commons and the flip was seamless and executed perfectly. All communication was speedy and the price was unbeatable. There were so many places to take pictures around the commons in nature, and it is a short drive from St Paul to take more city pictures. Everyone was so accommodating and I loved how the space could be personalized with minimal \"stuff\" coming in, because after the wedding, the last thing you will want to do is take down and find places for the million things you \"need\" for the day!Honestly though, the best investment we made towards our day was hiring Lorah as our wedding coordinator. Before the wedding she walked us through every detail, bringing up things I hadn't even thought of. She was available constantly, I honestly cant think of a time it took her more than an hour to respond to an email or phone call. She bent over backwards to make the day smooth and stress-free, and if there was anything that didn't go the way it was supposed to on the day, I don't know about it! A couple days before the wedding, I had an issue arise with a decoration that I was bringing in, and I was so worried about it and how I was going to get it into the space on time. Lorah took care of it for me, even though she didn't have to, and six weeks after the wedding I am still so grateful and relieved. I loved our experience with her, and if you do decide to book this space, HIRE HER. It is so worth it.

I had my wedding reception here in June of 2016. I absolutely LOVED the venue! I chose Spicy Meatball and they were AMAZING and Chef Jeff was wonderful to work with! However the wedding coordinator Lorah was very hard to deal with. She always had her time messed up and would constantly question me and tell me I was wrong. When I booked with VHC I was absolutely in love with the venue and I was excited about how bubbly Lorah was. However over the year long planning process her communication skills were exhausting. Every time we had an appointment she would not show up and I would call her and she thought it was at a different time. For example we paid to get in early to set up Wednesday night and we were planned for 5:00 after sitting outside for 15 minutes with melting chocolate I called her and she said she had it down for 6pm. I was beyond upset because my chocolate for my candy bar was melting. She gave me the code to get in the building and I was able to set up and finish it myself before she even showed up. When she did show up she wanted to go over details and change everything 3 days before my wedding. I hate to sit here and degrade the individual but I was a very prepared bride and the lack of communication of Lorah really made it a struggle for me to be able to relax before my wedding day. I was super annoyed when she also called me at 9:30pm the Saturday before my wedding to go over details. How about you call me at a better time of the day rather than at 9:30 at night.... Overall I was very thankful when I had a different coordinator the day of the wedding who was AMAZING and very helpful. :) Vadnais Heights Commons is a beautiful location and was everything I wanted in a sense of location and set up. It was PERFECT for our Rustic themed wedding. The only issue I really has was with the coordination that is definitely lacking.

I had my wedding reception here in June of 2016. I absolutely LOVED the venue! I chose Spicy Meatball and they were AMAZING and Chef Jeff was wonderful to work with! However the wedding coordinator Lorah was very hard to deal with. She always had her time messed up and would constantly question me and tell me I was wrong. When I booked with VHC I was absolutely in love with the venue and I was excited about how bubbly Lorah was. However over the year long planning process her communication skills were exhausting. The decor was elegant, the appetizers were very good and the dinner was excellent and attractively displayed. The bar area was easily accessible and the set up for the dance after gave plenty of room. I would highly recommend it.

As soon as we walked into The Commons I knew it was where we were supposed to have our wedding. The facility is absolutely gorgeous and unlike anything I had seen, we had many compliments the night of our wedding from guests. The Vadnais Commons was completely amazing, the decor and the food were fantastic. I highly recommend working with the draping, it really does make the space feel magical. The flowers were above and beyond anything I could have imagined. We are so thankful that we found Vadnias Heights Commons for our wedding. We could not have found a more perfect venue for our wedding ceremony and reception. Having worked in the wedding industry for 10 years and managing a wedding venue, I was very particular in our search for the perfect venue. Lorah Palmer was AMAZING to work with -- very fun, professional, detailed and experienced. You can tell that she really cares about each couple's wedding and takes pride in her work. I can't say enough good things about her. She was an invaluable resource throughout the entire planning process. One reason that we chose this location is that we were able to choose the caterer and bar service that best fit our needs. We hired Donatelli's and Complete Beverage Service who both did a great job and were reasonably priced. It is so rare to find such a unique and affordable venue that allows you to choose your own vendors (rather than requiring you to use their overpriced catering, bar, etc...). Thank you Vadnais Heights Commons for making our wedding day so amazing! We could not be happier in our experience!!

The venue is beautiful and we thought it was going to be perfect. Only problem was the event coordinator, Lorah. She was very nice and meant well, bless her heart. But as we got closer to the wedding day, we started realizing how flaky and scatter-brained she was. She caused so much confusion in the rehearsal and did the same on the wedding day. Things would have gone so much smoother without her.Even then I brushed it off and wasn't very upset. But when we contacted her and expressed our concerns, this is when she got very unprofessional and nasty. Instead of apologizing and accepting her mistakes and shortcomings, she attacked us with accusations of stealing ideas from her daughter's wedding! Who does that?? The level of unprofessionalism is unheard of.My advice....go somewhere else and save yourself any additional stress that this may cause on an already extremely stressful event.

I will start off by saying this is an absolutely beautiful venue, and I wish that my experience had gone a lot more smoothly. It probably would have, had I gone with another coordinator besides Lorah.VHC requires a separate hired event coordinator to be present. Lorah suggested we hire her for ours. Throughout our planning process, she was great. Until we got closer to the day of. She mixed up our rehearsal date. A few days before our wedding, she told me to decide if we were going to have an indoor or outdoor ceremony because it was going to rain. I had been checking all week and there was no rain in sight. I had to make sure she had the right date set for our wedding after all of these mix ups. I wasnât the only one who felt she was a bit unorganized and flakey. A few of my other vendors who had met Lorah felt the same way.I paid for early access on our wedding day. We arrived on time, and were able to get into the building because our decorator was there. Otherwise, we would have been waiting outside for Lorah to let us in. She asked me many details which we had already gone over during our final meeting, and I felt extremely overwhelmed and upset that I had to deal with all of these questions on top of getting myself ready. Every time I sat down, I felt that I was being pulled aside by her for questions. She also told me her only responsibilities were to set up our place cards, and a few frames in the shadow boxes. Everything else she did as a âkind gesture.â I have worked on a lot of weddings myself. Most coordinators will do whatever they can to help out and help ease any stress, but she complained about everything. My bridesmaids had to step in and help with a lot of details because we had such a tough time tracking her down all morning.What frustrated me the most, was that she got our table numbers completely wrong. I had sent her an updated chart a few days before our wedding. She responded, âNo Problem,â but on the day of she used the old chart I sent her, and tables were totally mixed up. Even though we spent days working on our seating chart, it was completely rendered useless because she used the wrong version. We had elderly family members who thought we didnât save a seat for them, and it reflected extremely poorly on me and my husband. We received all the backlash for Lorahâs mistake.After our wedding, I sent her an email expressing how disappointed I was with the way things went. I hoped she would take ownership for these mistakes, and learn from it. But instead, she listed every single thing that went wrong on my wedding day and blamed me and my bridesmaids for all of it. She even claimed that I copied her daughterâs wedding design. In her words exactly, she claimed I mimicked her daughterâs wedding design except she used higher end linens, better floral design, an up-scaled photo booth. She also told me that her âdaughterâs wedding would be impossible for someone to âmimic exactly.âI was shocked by her response. Lorah and I never discussed any design details together, and I had created my wedding vision with our decorator. I was simply trying to let her know why I was disappointed with her services on our wedding day, and instead of apologizing for her mistakes, she attacked me, and I saw how truly unprofessional she could be.Again, this venue is beautiful. But do yourself a favor, find another coordinator who will actually help out on your wedding day instead of causing unnecessary stress.

Every time I sat down, I felt that I was being pulled aside by her for questions. She also told me her only responsibilities were to set up our place cards, and a few frames in the shadow boxes. Everything else she did as a âkind gesture.â I have worked on a lot of weddings myself. Most coordinators will do whatever they can to help out and help ease any stress, but she complained about everything. My bridesmaids had to step in and help with a lot of details because we had such a tough time tracking her down all morning.What frustrated me the most, was that she got our table numbers completely wrong. I had sent her an updated chart a few days before our wedding. She responded, âNo Problem,â but on the day of she used the old chart I sent her, and tables were totally mixed up. Even though we spent days working on our seating chart, it was completely rendered useless because she used the wrong version. We had elderly family members who thought we didnât save a seat for them, and it reflected extremely poorly on me and my husband. We received all the backlash for Lorahâs mistake.After our wedding, I sent her an email expressing how disappointed I was with the way things went. I hoped she would take ownership for these mistakes, and learn from it. But instead, she listed every single thing that went wrong on my wedding day and blamed me and my bridesmaids for all of it. She even claimed that I copied her daughterâs wedding design. In her words exactly, she claimed I mimicked her daughterâs wedding design except she used higher end linens, better floral design, an up-scaled photo booth. She also told me that her âdaughterâs wedding would be impossible for someone to âmimic exactly.âI was shocked by her response. Lorah and I never discussed any design details together, and I had created my wedding vision with our decorator. I was simply trying to let her know why I was disappointed with her services on our wedding day, and instead of apologizing for her mistakes, she attacked me, and I saw how truly unprofessional she could be.Again, this venue is beautiful. But do yourself a favor, find another coordinator who will actually help out on your wedding day instead of causing unnecessary stress.

From the initial tour to ironing out details the week of the wedding, I never felt unsure of the process or what to expect at The Commons. Our guests were very impressed and thought it was a beautiful venue. I hope that I have the opportunity down the road to attend another event at The Commons!

We LOVED having our wedding ceremony and reception at the Vadnais Heights Commons. The building is so beautiful and spacious that you could easily overdecorate because the building itself adds so much to the space with its floor to ceiling windows and wooden beam structure. The venue is very clean and designed well for all events. There is great natural lighting with the ability to pull shades down if necessary. Lorah Palmer and her team of coordinators are so great to work with. They are very organized and accommodating. They definitely know what they are doing when it comes to planning, coordinating and managing your event at the Commons. They are more than willing to work closely with you prior to your event to ensure you get what you want out of your event/the venue. Day of, they work behind the scenes to make sure everything runs smoothly and according to plan. They are very organized, structured and take pride in their venue to ensure all events happen beautifully. I would definitely recommend this venue- especially for a wedding.

The catering she chose was Donatellis and the food was great! The staff was very easy to work with and helpful. I think that anyone would be happy with having there wedding at this awesome location.

Everything from the drapery by Michelle, to the food by Deco, and Judy to see that the wedding ceremony took place on time and made sure everything was organized and everyone was where they needed to be. The real star of the show was Lorah Palmer, the event coordinator, worth every penny. She made sure everything ran smoothly and that the big was special and all about my sister and her groom. She is an exceptional woman and knows her weddings. She clearly loves her job, loves people, and enjoys making people's days special and memorable. The venue is classy and elegant with a modern twist, if considering between the Commons and somewhere else, hands down this is the place to get married. This would be a 5 star review, but my wife and I had some frustrating communication/experiences with an event coordinator. On one particular occasion, we had a 745 pm meeting with her at Vadnais Heights Commons â she showed up at 9 pm with Marshall's bags in hand. She said she thought the meeting was at 845 pm. She then looked at her planner and realized the meeting was at 745. We also received multiple calls asking us questions we had already answered in previous conversations.

The VHC was the very first place we looked, and we continued to compare all other venues to it throughout our search before deciding it was just meant to be, as nothing else compared to it. We also really enjoyed working with Lorah Palmer, and it was obvious she was invested in our event and in us. We liked that we were given options for caterers and decorators, as so many venues don't allow you to choose. We ended up choosing Donatelli's for our caterer, and got RAVE reviews from all of our guests. So we are also thankful VHC referred us to them. Overall, working with Lorah, and the rest of the VHC staff was very easy, professional, and prompt on all matters... All things important to a \"Type A\" bride planning a wedding :). They listened to what we wanted, our ideas, and concerns, and made sure we got what we wanted. They also had a lot of input that was helpful, and ideas and suggestions we never would have thought of. \r\rWe had our wedding 3 days ago, and I already wish we could do it all over again! We will definitely be crossing paths with them for future events.

Vadnais Heights Commons is the perfect venue for a wedding reception, as it is ABSOLUTELY stunning! Lorah, the event coordinator, was great every step of the way. She strived to make our reception the best it could be and provided advice and suggestions along the way. We were very impressed with her knowledge of wedding coordination and greatly appreciated her prompt responses and the help that she provided, even when she was out of town on vacation. There is a list of caterers that you have to choose from and they are all great! We were very happy with the wide selection. I cannot say enough good things about the decorator (Michele from Grand Designs) in which Vadnais Heights Commons has a great relationship with. Her decorations were amazing! She decorates The Commons in a way that will take your breath away if you were to see it in person. Kathleen was the coordinator that was there during our reception, as Lorah was out of town, and she went above and beyond to make our experience as enjoyable as possible and made sure everything ran smoothly. The only suggestion we have for The Commons is to please allow the videographer to tap into the microphone system and the couple will be sure to pay the fee, if that was overlooked prior to the day of the reception. Overall, we are very pleased that we chose Vadnais Heights Commons for our wedding reception!

It was wonderful to have everything at one location - wedding, dinner and dance. Lorah Palmer was amazing is helping the bride and groom plan out all the details. She also provided a list of possible DJs, wedding musicians, food and beverage caterers, florists, etc. She was able to give a brief recap of each venue option which was so helpful. She also offered suggestions for hotels for the guests coming in from out of town. Kristin was the coordinator at the rehearsal and the day of the wedding. She did a fabulous job making sure everything went smoothly and taking the stress off of the bride, groom and mothers. I would recommend the Commons for others looking for a wedding venue.
