The Cypress Grove Estate House Reviews

The most beautiful venue in all of Orlando metro area! We wanted a garden wedding and the beauty of this venue fit that vision perfectly. There is no indoor back-up here so we decided to embrace a tent and go all out with it. We were not leaving chances up to the weather. You have to use their selected caterer which they were amazing. I do not have a single complaint about the venue or the staff. Everything was perfect! Reviewed on 12-05-2023

Matthew Ware(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-05-2021 In short, the best advice we can give is buyer beware. Due to the pandemic our wedding was pushed back a year. Because of this we dealt (to our peril) with Cypress Grove for over two years. As others have mentioned, they made it very clear that their priority was squeeze any additional dollars out of us once we had signed our contract. Once the pandemic hit we, like many others, had to push our wedding back not because of our choice but because of government restrictions. As prices are set based on the day of the week and our original date was a Sunday in May, they informed us we would only be able reschedule for a Sunday through the rest of the year. After deciding that October may be the best time to reschedule, they then informed us if we wanted a date from October to December it would cost an additional $4,000. Since this was not an option we could afford we asked if we could resolve this by simply postponing our wedding a year by having our wedding on a Sunday in May since that was the day we had originally paid for. They then informed us that they were raising their prices for the coming year and it would be an additional $10,000. It became very apparent that they were simply trying to take advantage of us and the pandemic. It got to the point where we sought legal advice and were advised to request a refund before going down the legal path. We did and at that point they retracted and gave us a day in May at our original price. Their desire for every penny didn't end there. The week of our wedding I received calls and messages every day urging us to pay $2,000 for a tent since the chance of rain \"was 90%\". I had been following the weather everyday for a week and a half and the chance of rain never rose above 24%. We did not pay for it and the day of was gorgeous. To add insult to injury, the day prior we had been at the property for our rehearsal. There was a wedding that day and the couple had paid for the tent. It was a beautiful day without a shower in sight. As for the costs of everything else, nothing outside of the food, drink, and basic tables and chairs were included. Down to the linen on the tables, everything is an upcharge. We understand its a business and offering upcharges are apart of wedding venues. However, the costs are absurd. We wanted to \"upgrade\" half of our tables (7). Seven tables would have been nearly $2,500. This cost exist because they have a monopoly and you can not go to outside vendors to fulfill the majority of these needs. As far as communication with the venue, it was extremely poor unless they were contacting us about payments. I could call or send an email and go days and in some cases weeks without a response. But when I hadn't made a deposit for the tent that \"we needed for the rain\ Reviewed on 10-05-2021

The venue is absolutely beautiful. As soon as my daughter walked into the venue, she knew that this is where she wanted to have her wedding. Alexis was wonderful to work with and responded quickly to all our questions and made it so easy. We lucked out with weather and did not have to have a tent set up for the reception. All of our guests kept saying how beautiful everything was. The cypress trees make for beautiful wedding pictures. Having the reception outside under the market lights is so pretty. It was nice not being in your typical banquet room. The venue was clean and the food was delicious and everything flowed so smoothly for the wedding. Mackenzie Ecrement(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-01-2021 My husband and I were married at Cypress Grove Estate House 1/16/21. We fell in love with the venue when we toured it and knew we had to have our wedding there. It is a truly special and beautiful venue and sure to be memorable by your guests. My planner and I had an okay experience working with the Cypress Grove staff leading up to the wedding. It is a business with the goal of making a profit and it shows. We had plated meals (steak, salmon, and vegetarian). The food was amazing at our tasting but the steak was undercooked at the wedding and several guests mentioned it. We also had the open bar, an extra appetizer, and the toasting champagne. We added the firepit rental and brought in s'mores. It was an extra chilly night in Florida so this should have been a hit. The appeal of renting the firepit through RW for $275 was the promise that someone would tend to it all night. The alternative was bringing our own firepit and tending to it ourselves. This was a waste because the person responsible for tending to the fire did not do their job. At least a dozen guests and my planner complained about this to me. Some guests told me they were adding wood and tending to it all night because nobody else was. At one point, one of my bridesmaids was sitting by the dying fire to get some warmth and a staff member came over with a piece of cardboard and starting fanning it into her direction which resulted in her being covered in smoke and ash-she had to go to the bathroom to clean ashes off her dress. Throughout the night, the bartender was seen not wearing a mask which was uncomfortable and unprofessional. The bathrooms were not maintained well throughout the night. Staff had to be asked to clean them multiple times. The $4 pp tasting champagne was served only half full and looked skimpy. Additionally, the staff removed everyone’s glasses immediately after the toasts before people could even finish them. We had several last minute cancelations and were told we would be sent home with the extra number of meals since we already paid for them. We only got 2 when we should have had at least 10. The staff absolutely BUTCHERED my wedding cake. They were supposed to cut it and serve it to everyone at their tables as part of my plated service but instead plated them in another room and told the DJ to tell people to come and get it. My planner asked why they weren’t serving it and the staff replied that too many people were on the dancefloor, so they won’t eat it. My planner also said she had never seen a wedding cake cut so horribly. We got sent home with many, many pieces of cake since a lot of people didn’t end up getting a slice since it was not at their table and I can attest that it was cut and plated like slop. At the end of the night, my bridesmaids went up to the bridal room to collect their belongings before leaving in the limo, and some cleaning staff was already up there. The staff was very rude to my bridesmaids saying “You guys are so dirty, why didn’t you clean before the wedding? If you don’t get your stuff out of here in 5 minutes, we are throwing it away.” A bridesmaid’s shoes did end up getting thrown away. My planner said the room was normal and mostly organized and that cleaning staff only had to take out the garbage, so they should not have been so rude and rushing. Overall, it is a beautiful venue but they have some staff problems. I would recommend it, but Cypress needs to retrain their staff and start putting their clients first. Reviewed on 08-03-2021

The house itself is gorgeous, with great areas for decor and the perfect bridal suite. The lakefront view is a beautiful backdrop for the ceremony. We lucked out with perfect weather and being on the lake surrounded by our loved ones at sunset felt incredibly serene. Not only is the venue itself beautiful, the staff is kind and professional. Addison Robles(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-01-2019 After countless hours of research and a handful of carefully selected visits, my now-husband and I found ourselves at the Cypress Grove Estate House. We knew from the moment we drove down the driveway that it would be the last venue we needed to see. From the perfectly crafted ambiance throughout the property to the incredible attention to detail, it was everything we'd hoped for and more. After we booked our date, Sarah and I stayed in regular contact as I planned the big day. I only had a day-of coordinator and had little experience with weddings, but her expertise and willingness to help made all the difference in my wedding planning process.Three days before my wedding, I experienced every bride's worst nightmare - I looked at the forecast and saw rain. Sarah and the other Cypress Grove staff were lifesavers as they helped me make last-minute adjustments to our plans, but as an admitted control-freak, I was still a bit worried. The morning of though, I arrived to find everything taken care of. Collaborating with my coordinator, the staff had everything under control, with plans A-Z ready to execute to perfection. I didn't have to worry about a thing. The rain ended up holding off until just moments after the end of our ceremony, and all of our guests were ushered into the tent for cocktail hour just in time. Despite some things not going according to plan, our wedding day felt perfect, and was described by many of of our guests as \"the best wedding they'd ever been to.\" I have no doubt that we had our incredible venue and its wonderful staff to thank for that.Looking back now, I can't imagine having had our wedding at any other venue than the Cypress Grove Estate House. The natural beauty of the property allowed us to save on decor and florals, because we didn't have to create a beautiful setting - the venue was stunning on its own. Every detail had been thought of to help a wedding run smoothly: from the convenient location (near hotels and vendors), to the templates and guidance we received to help us plan our big day. A word of caution:Wedding venues are expensive. If you have yours here it will probably not be an exception. We ended up spending more than I'd planned, especially with the last-minute addition of a tent and corresponding lighting. However, I have no doubt that with careful planning and realistic expectations, it would certainly be possible to stay within your budget here. Some pieces of advice: 1. The sooner you can book, the more likely you are to get your ideal date. With that being said though, if your goal date is already taken here, I'd advise being flexible. We did this and ended up with a Friday wedding. It was well worth it.2. If you don't already have your heart set on certain vendors, seriously consider the vendors on Cypress Grove's Recommended Vendors list. If you like the Cypress Grove staff, you will probably like most of these people. Plus, they've all already worked together, which makes everything easier!3. When in doubt, reach out to the staff. Sarah, and Kim when Sarah wasn't available, helped me with everything from reception table layout to choosing decor details. This venue is worth booking for their expertise alone.Overall, I can't thank the Cypress Grove Estate House and its staff enough for making my wedding day (and planning process) better than I could have ever imagined. They truly made all the difference.Book this venue. You will not regret it. Reviewed on 03-05-2019

The staff (Sarah and Kim) are wonderful/easy to work with leading up to the wedding and day of. Only 2 downsides, which you will know upfront (it even shows it on here). 1. There is no space to accommodate an indoor option for a rain plan (unless you have a really intimate wedding). You will need to rent a tent and they are not the cheapest thing to rent. 2. The catering is done by Big City and you aren't able to use any other options.Other than that... it was as perfect as it can be! :) Reviewed on 09-04-2019

We worked with Sarah closely to manage all of the details and she was so helpful during the entire process. On the day of our wedding, everything was beautifully set up with the help of our wedding planner. The inside of the house has several areas that are perfect for your guest book table, gift table, and built in book shelves for photos. The outside of the house has a rose garden which we used for our first look and made for a great picture area. The sun setting over the lake was perfectly timed for our photos to get that golden hue. As the sun set, the market lights were turned on making for a very romantic evening. Our only complaint about the night was that the bartender from Big City Catering, which is the only company you can use at this venue, would not allow us or our guest to order shots even though we paid for the unlimited alcohol package. This was rather frustrating for us and wish it was stated before hand so we could negotiate this topic ahead of time. Besides that, we absolutely loved the venue! Reviewed on 15-03-2019

We hosted my best friends bridal shower at the grove house.... you know how everyone says little girls dream of getting married since they are little girls... so magnify that by 100% for my friend. So now, imagine the disappointment when all of your planning and preparation is jeopardized because of someone else's mistake. Honestly, the morning of the shower we had some hiccups but arrived to the venue on time for set up.... feeling like the worst was behind us.... but, the worst had yet to come. We arrive at the venue and none of the tables and chairs were set up but, we shouldn't make assumptions. However, at 11:10 am we realized that there was no linens present so, I start repeatedly calling the office line (a line that someone previously would answer on the 1st ring) at that point a panic rushed over us; but, since the event coordinator SUPPOSEDLY checked the property at 10:45am we assumed she must have them with her and will bring them when, she greets us.... NOT. Instead, I received a call at 11:15am apologizing that the linens never arrived but, promises that they will be there at 11:30am. Is that okay... that linens for your tables will not arrive until 30 minutes before your event.... which means you cannot set any tables? I understand that the linens not arriving was not the event coordinators fault but, what I do expect is for her to come to the estate house and offer to find a solution.... for her to have checked at 10:45.... because time is key? And the stress of all of this is heightened in that NO ONE is answering the phone!!!!! So at 11:30 with no linens and no way to contact our event coordinator.... we send a bridesmaid to the ESTATE HOUSE to get whatever linens they have..... so our beautiful Chanel inspired bridal that should have been complimented with beige table clothes and BLUSH PINK napkins were replaced with... SILVER tablecloths, Beige napkins and..... NAVY BLUE buffet table linens (for a bride who drove 7 hours to a warehouse to make sure that the napkin rings they were going to ship were the right shade of ROSE GOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!) Now ask me if our event coordinator... has come down to help us or apologize yet??? NO!!!... but, she did send us an email that she would get us a refund and push our clean up time to 3:30pm... NO S**T, you are going to give me a refund for products that I ordered and never received and to give us back some of time that we wasted waiting for linens that never arrived. In the end, our event coordinator showed up to address us at the end of our event.... while she was on a site visit with new potential clients. I understand that we were not our event coordinators only responsibility or by any means the largest party to attend too. However, I felt that party was extremely neglected and we're not asking for nothing more then for her to do her JOB. Sarah you really dropped the ball!!!30 minutes before your best friends bridal shower.... you should not be about to cry, nauseous and, shaking in panic that your guests are going to enter a disheveled room; especially when you have spent months planning and have invested a lot of money. I don't feel like anyone should feel like this so, rent at your own risk. Reviewed on 03-12-2017

We had found our venue! My husband's family lives close to the park and whenever we were in town, we were always able to go walk the ground and catch up with Sarah. Jessica Davis(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-11-2016 We initially booked this venue a little over a year away from our wedding date. We fell in love instantly after receiving a tour of the estate house and grounds. We mostly worked with Cara for a majority of the time but were passed off to Alex at the end when it became closer to our wedding date. Working with Cara was an absolute pleasure and she was ALWAYS prompt with her responses to emails and any questions we had during the process (which these were very few). However, Alex took a while to respond back to emails and it was pretty stressful trying to get her to reply back with our final payment amount. Additionally, Alex had set up an automatic reply to all of her emails saying that she was receiving a large amount of emails (let it be noted that Cara did not have this feature turned on). It may be nit-picky, but I was turned off by this since this occurred within the last few weeks before our wedding. After this was remedied we had a final meeting with Alex at the estate house and were able to upgrade many of our food and beverage options since we overpaid on the catering (helpful hint: make sure you have a pretty good idea of a guest count because we WAY overestimated by about 45 people). Alex was very professional and friendly in person and helped us get the maximum amount of upgrades so we got our money's worth.Overall, the estate house was ABSOLUTELY gorgeous and everything on our wedding day went so smoothly. I did not get ready in the bridal suite, but we did relax there for a while before the wedding and it was perfect. I will definitely recommend Cypress Grove to friends and family who are looking to get married in the future :) Reviewed on 15-11-2016
Brianna Appelbaum(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-10-2016 I recently had my wedding at the Cypress Grove Estate House and it was absolutely perfect! If you are looking for a vintage-romantic style wedding - this is the place!!When I was looking for a venue I was looking for a \"one stop shop\" .. and this venue was that and more, it included so much for the price, not to mention the property is gorgeous! The venue coordinators Cara & Alexandra worked well with us on our budget and they worked very well together. I encourage any future Bride and Groom to also choose from the vendor list provided by the venue because they all work great together that it was a perfectly seamless day! My husband and I were able to enjoy each other and our guest and dance the night away (Soundwave Entertainment) knowing everything was being taken care of behind the scenes! RW Events was also a referral from the venue, that is where we hired our amazing Wedding Planner, her name is Shadow and she was by our side every step of the way- I knew I did not have to worry about a thing because Shadow would happily take care of it. RW Events also offers gorgeous vintage furniture rentals.. I utilized so many pieces for our \"social lounge\" , dessert table & head table. Speaking of our dessert table Jennyfer from Sugar Suite did a fantastic job, not only were they gorgeous to look at but the taste of our wedding cake and cupcakes were out of this world! The ambiance of the property is so perfect and it is any photographers dream to shoot a wedding there, our photographer was Stacy O'Nell from SO Photography and she blew us away with her talent and she captured such precious moments between my husband and I! I personally chose to have simple flower arrangements & decorations, including beautiful sheer fabric for the ceremony with a stunning chandelier. The flower arrangements for the tables were perfect and exactly what I wanted (Flowers By Lesley). The food at the reception was amazing (Big City Catering) all of our guest were raving about it! We had passed hors d'oeuvres during our cocktail hour that were so delicious!I just can't say enough about the venue, the attentive staff and the wonderful vendors who all worked so well together. People always say \"don't expect everything to go perfect the day of..\" and what I can say back to that is if you choose this venue you will have an absolutely perfect wedding day filled with beautiful memories and pictures to last a lifetime! Alex, Rachel, and Cara were quite keen on details and had no problem with clarifying anything and everything. The catering was perfect for the occasion. We loved our meals after the wedding. Allison King(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-05-2016 I don't even know where to begin... I remember shortly after getting engaged that I started getting this picture in my mind of what I imagined our wedding would be like. I started to envision a beautiful open outdoor area, with big trees all around, lots of string lights, and right on the water (but not on the beach). I told myself not to get my hopes up because I probably wouldn't find anything like what I was picturing in the Melbourne or Orlando, FL area. I was searching online one day and the moment I saw picture of Cypress Grove I remember saying to myself \"Wow. That is EXACTLY what I was picturing, I wonder what state that venue is in.\" So you can imagine my excitement to find out that a place this beautiful existed only 1 hour away from where I live! From the moment I contacted Cara at Cypress Grove, everything was such a breeze. She responded to my e-mail immediately and set up a tour with me. Cara made the planning process at Cypress Grove so easy. She was always very quick to respond to e-mails, very sweet and helpful when it came to my concerns and (lots of) questions, and would check in with me every so often to keep me in the loop about any decisions I needed to make before certain dates, or any payments that were due soon. Rachel was our day of coordinator and she was also very sweet and very helpful. Although Cypress Grove comes with their own in-house coordinators/wedding planners (RW Events), I had already hired a wedding planner who is a very good friend of mine, so it was important to me that she help me plan, design, and set up our wedding. I still wanted Rachel to help us with the coordination of the rehearsal and ceremony since I asked my wedding planner to help me mostly with design. Cara and Rachel made a great team and were more than willing to work together with the wedding planner. They were always quick to respond and helpful to her when she had questions related to design and set-up. I appreciate how sweet and patient Rachel was at the rehearsal. My dad gets a little nervous and asks a lot of questions (as do I) :) and she was very good with us. The day of our wedding was better than we ever imagined. Everything ran so smoothly. Even if things didn't, I don't think I would have even noticed. I felt that I was in very good hands with everyone at Cypress Grove and my wedding planner. There is probably so much I am leaving out, but these were some things that really made a difference to me. Thank you SO much to Cara, Rachel, and the team at Cypress Grove for everything you did for us!! I feel so lucky that we were able to experience such an important day of our lives at a place that was honestly even better than what I had been dreaming about, and we are so grateful for the vendors we had for making the planning process easy and fun. There are not a lot of picky vendor lists or venue rules and they make it all really easy because they are experts. We had 220 people at our wedding and it wasn't over crowded. The beautiful house and grounds capture you immediately, and the helpful staff go above and beyond to do everything possible to make your day seamless and perfect. I was a little sad because we ended up getting a tent due to threat of rain, we had to set dinner & the cake table up under the tent instead of in the amphitheater like initially planned...however, this was a blessing in disguise! We knew our guests were a fun crowd, but couldn't have imagined that our dance floor would be too small for everyone! Luckily we had the entire paved area for dancing (& life sized Jenga) since everything else was set up under the tent. Cara was so punctual to all my questions and concerns. I cannot say enough good things about the catering team, Big City. The food was impeccable and all our guests raved that it was the best \"wedding food\" they have ever had, although Big City will tell you Chef hates to hear the words wedding food. We had about 115 people and it fit us comfortably in the amphitheater area. The bridal suite was such a cute and large space for the girls and I to get ready in, although I wish I had had more time there. Kate Osterloh(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-12-2014 My husband and I recently got married at Cypress Grove Estate House and were thrilled with our wedding. It was everything we could have dreamed, and the venue was a stunning location that made for a great party and beautiful photos. We had 175 guests at our wedding. For the most part, Cypress Grove was accomodating with our many special requests. \r\rWe had a few hiccups. We worked with Cara and Rachel at Cypress Grove, and for the most part, they were very easygoing and helpful. However, my husband and I were planning our wedding from overseas, and so communication was a bit more difficult than usual. In our intial meeting, Cara was not available, so we met with Rachel. We made plans to return to the U.S. in June for a week, and set up a meeting with Cara for that time. However, on the day, we ended up meeting with Rachel again, as Cara had gone home sick. This caused some miscommunication about the pricing of certain items/services later on. We were assured in June that certain services would not incur additional charges, but then, the week of our wedding, charges were suddenly added to our bill. While they did remove the charge after a discussion, this caused a lot of stress a few short days before our wedding. We were also asked several times that week about other add-ons. The days leading up to a wedding are inevitably extremely stressful, and that does not seem like the appropriate time to be adding on surprise charges. \r\rOne other small issue: a few days before our wedding, we emailed to say we would like to rent large heaters for the reception, and asked them to be set up in the tent so that our guests would not be chilly during dinner. The day of the wedding, we were asked as we were sitting down to dinner if we still wanted them (even though we had confirmed that a few days earlier), and then, while dinner was being served, the large heaters were being dragged into the tent and turned on. It was a scramble, and did nothing for the ambience of the meal. \r\rOverall, we would recommend this venue as being the prettiest and most romantic we found in Central Florida. Lauren Brown(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-11-2013 Cypress Grove Estate House was a BEAUTIFUL venue to get married at. My friends and family continued to rave about how gorgeous it was. My husband and I went with the Simply Southern menu and will go on and on about how delicious the shrimp and grits were, the macaroni and cheese bar...and the fried chicken! I also have to give HUGE props to the catering team and staff who not only executed a delicious meal, but also instantly turned around the ceremony chairs into an elegant dining setting for our guests under a tent due to rain.\r\rMy concerns with this venue came along with having to deal with 3 separate people within a years time. High turnover rate maybe? Right when I felt comfortable working with one person, I was handed off to another, and what I was told was okay from one ended up being questioned by another. The most recent girl we dealt with did her best to answer our questions, but was very pushy when it came to securing a tent for our wedding day. We had a guest count of 150 and were told that we had to make the decision as to whether or not we wanted a tent 10 days out from our wedding day...$2500 later. How does anyone know whether it will or will not rain 10 days out? After much pushing, she pushed this date forward to the Monday before the wedding. When I checked the weather report on the Monday before our wedding, it was 30% chance rain. I contacted the girl to tell her we were not going to go with the tent. She wrote me back and said that she had checked the weather report and it was now 40% chance of rain, and if it rained, only 75 guests would be permitted to eat inside the Estate house, while the remaining would have to eat outside and on the porch. She was a bit too pushy for me as a bride. If I had a smaller wedding, I would choose this venue in a heart beat, but if you choose to have a larger wedding...beware because the rain could spoil your party and if you don't have an extra $2500 set aside to spend on a tent...you're out of luck!\r\rAnother concern I had being a bride is that the house is a beautiful venue with a gorgeous bridal suite, but with the time frame they give you to use the house for an evening wedding (3 pm), there is no way you and your bridesmaids can use the room to get ready. It would be a beautiful place for your photographer/videographer to capture shots of you getting ready on your wedding day, but you have to pay an additional $2500 to use it for the whole day. I ended up getting ready at a friend's house rather than being able to use the bridal suite to get ready. Reviewed on 29-12-2013

Throughout the planning process, they were flexible with working with us being that we live in Jacksonville and were getting married in Orlando. Being able to have all aspects of our wedding (ceremony, cocktail hour and reception) in one venue spot was a huge bonus for us. Our guests have not stopped raving about how beautiful the setting was and how helpful the staff was the evening of our wedding. It rained unexpectedly on my wedding day and we had to move everything inside. While not ideal, Cypress Grove made it work and it was still a great location for a wedding. Jennifer Mahler(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-06-2013 I loved having our wedding at Cypress Grove Estate House. The setting is absolutely beautiful for a wedding. If you have fewer than 100 people, the event can be moved inside, but otherwise if you want an alternative rain plan, you need to rent a tent, which was rather expensive. The staff was very helpful and accommodating and always open to new ideas. The caterer is included in the fees at Cypress Grove as well as like table rentals and chairs and linens, which makes it kind of a one stop shop. The food is delicious! The only other downside is that the event has to end by ten, so the reception is a bit shorter than most. However, I would definitely recommend checking this place out! Reviewed on 09-07-2013

The all-outside location and the moss hanging from the trees, the water, and the estate house itself all serve to create a feel of the deep-South. We're from Mississippi and Louisiana, and this location felt like the old plantation houses you would find in the country of those states. Working with Mike was a treat, as well, as he was very kind and helped us out since we had a pretty small wedding (40 guests). Leslie Gorman(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-10-2012 Cypress Grove is a truly beautiful location. I fell in love with it upon my first viewing and signed the contract. Then I hired a wedding planner. Had I known what I know now, or had I had a professional look at the contract first, perhaps I would not have gone with them.\rI must say, I am pleased with how my wedding turned out, everyone had a great time, and I have gotten lots of compliments on the venue. \rIt was made very clear to me going in that Big City was my only option of caterer, and that was fine. In fact, I have also gotten many compliments on how good the food was. \rHowever, because it is a historical estate house, there are some extra rules that apply to this venue that apparently don't apply at all wedding venues. I had to opt-out of a live band and videography because of these rules. I had found through friends a band and a video production company who were familiar with doing weddings, and were willing to give me a friend-price. I was also going to have my friend's mom do the flowers. However, Cypress Grove wouldn't allow them at my wedding unless they were a licensed business and carried liability insurance, which none of them did. I couldn't afford the full-blown wedding bands and videographers, so I had to do without. My wedding planner was able to find me an affordable florist, but I'm sure my friend's mom would have been more affordable. With the band, even if they did have both those things, I also would have had to rent a generator for $500 from Cypress Grove because the band can't use the house's electricity.\rMy biggest complaint with Cypress Grove came when they tried to tell me my DJ couldn't do the lighting. The DJ I hired had been doing music AND lighting at Cypress Grove for over 10 years and carried all the necessary licenses, but suddenly their rules had changed. What really got me is that their most basic lighting package was $1000 more than what the DJ quoted me. After many phone calls and some crying, Cypress Grove worked with me on the price.\rThey claim all these rules are to preserve the house and make sure I am not responsible if a vendor damages something. Yes, the contract does mention all vendors must be a licensed business and carry liability insurance, but I don't plan weddings every day so I didn't know what a big deal that was. I guess I wish this stuff had been explained in plain english from the beginning. Many other wedding venues in central Florida are not as strict on these rules.\rIf you are on a tight budget, or have friends helping you with some of the aspects a traditional vendor may do, this may not be the venue for you. If you are fine with paying full price and hiring only professional wedding vendors, then this place will work just fine for you. Reviewed on 12-11-2012

CARA IRVIN IS AMAZING. She was our coordinator and was endlessly helpful. She answered emails and phone calls alarmingly fast and accommodated every single request we made. This venue is gorgeous and secluded considering its a public park. The house and grounds are beautiful. That being said, we had an incident with security- one of our guests cars was broken into. there is a park security guard who was patrolling, so if I were to do it again I would ask for extra security in the parking lot. my only other complaint is that the reception had to end at 10 PM, and everyone wanted to stay all night! Otherwise, it was the perfect place. Reviewed on 24-10-2012

Benita Mosca(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-11-2010 You will not find much advertising for this venue. That is because it is part of a city-owned park. I found it accidently on weddingwire.com and I knew I had to have this venue - it is absolutely stunning! I am fussy, but I couldn't have asked for a more beautiful location - right in the middle of Orlando! There is an Estate House that is gorgeous and it overlooks Lake Jessamine. There is a gazebo overlooking the lake, that was the perfect location for our ceremony. And there is an outside ampitheatre, which is where we had the reception. Because the grounds belong to the city, it is perfectly maintained all year round, and you won't have to worry about bugs! Ample spots for great photos!! We used the house as well - it seemed such a waste not to. We used one of the large downstairs rooms as the children's room, and hired SuperSitters to entertain the kids. We used another room for the video interviews and for one of the bars. The cocktail hour was held inside the house. There is a fireplace with a large mantel. I put a memorial vase on it with antique-framed photos of all our grandparents, since they are nno longer with us. It was a lovely touch, and gave the house a homely feel. There is a very large bridal suite upstairs and we spent the entire day there, having our hair/makeup done and getting dressed. There was plenty of space. All our guests commented on what a beautiful venue it was. There are quite a few antique tables in the house that are available for use as a guestbook table, gift table, etc. They will even let you borrow their large antique-looking easels to display your photos! They offer 3 caterers to choose from. We used Puff n Stuff and we were very happy with them. This is truly a wonderful venue. If you have always dreamed of an elegant garden wedding - this is it!!!
