Megan Jackson(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-09-2021 Jason Mullinix was an absolute life saver. The original tour Jason gave us venue was amazing. He walked us through all the rooms we would be using the day off. We fell in love and booked right away. He helped in every aspect of the planning. He kept me on a timeline and always asked questions which kept me thinking. My wedding day was perfect. I had no stress because Jason handled everything. He made sure all my vendors arrived on time and everything was set up. Jason gave us a list of vendors who worked well with the Alumni Center. We picked the DJ Kevin recommended. That was the best decision we could have made. The DJ, Kevin Nicholas, and Jason were a dream team. They tag teamed the wedding and made sure the wedding timeline was perfect and on time. The original plan for our ceremony was to be outside, but since it was raining that day; Jason had his team move everything inside. When I saw the set up that morning, I was very nervous and unsure of how everything would look. I actually cried because I had a hard time imagining the final set up of the ceremony. Boy, was I wrong. Jason and his team made everything absolutely beautiful and I had no reason to worry. Now, we did have some hiccups, but Jason stepped in and completely fixed everything. Once our bar opened, we found out that one of the bartenders had no experience with serving alcohol. My mom informed Jason and asked him to send someone over to assist her. Next thing we know, the bartender had assistance and everyone was getting served quickly. Also, He was very responsive in emails and calls. Even though we had a couple of hiccups, I would 1000% recommend the alumni center for your future venue. Reviewed on 29-09-2021
Stephanie Kincaid(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-10-2015 We loved this venue. I would highly recommend the Erickson Alumni Center to anyone planning a Morgantown Wedding (especially hard-core WVU fans, of course). \r\rFirst of all, it's a beautiful building. We had the ceremony in the courtyard, cocktail hour in the Kennedy Club Room, and the reception in the ballroom. It was really like 3 beautiful venues in one, each with a different style, and SUPER convenient and comfortable for our guests. The getting ready spaces were also excellent (especially for the bride!!!). \r\rThe wedding packages were very reasonably priced. We were SO pleasantly surprised that the venue allowed us to customize the package, which made it easy for us to enhance the stuff that was important to us, and also pull items out of the package (e.g., we didn't pay the package price for alcohol because half of our guests do not drink). We had many guests compliment us on our food (even said it was hard to pick an entree because they all sounded so good!) and we particularly loved the appetizer selection at cocktail hour.\r\rA few other things we loved: they worked very well with our other vendors (linens, chairs, etc.), the crew that helped us set up on the day of was extremely helpful and accommodating, they allowed us to add local beer to our bar, they provided us an excellent backup option in case of inclement weather (and gave us flexibility when making the call to have the ceremony outside), stored and plated hundreds of desserts for our DIY dessert buffet, and in general just brought everything together for an awesome wedding day. \r\rOne of our only issues was that during the wedding a group of high school students entered the venue and were taking homecoming pictures (homecoming was NOT at the venue). This would not have been an issue, but some of them (and their parents!) were rude to our guests and tried to crash our cocktail hour. The fact that such a big crowd was able to enter the venue suggests a need for better security. We did follow up with them after the wedding and they assured us that the issue would be addressed. \r\rWe only have one other small critique. Early on in our planning process, we made all of our arrangements with Mary Kinsley. However, within a few weeks of the wedding, Brenda Simpson began being our point person for arrangements. I'm not sure if this is typical, but it was a little bit of a rough transition and some information seemed to get lost in translation from Mary to Brenda. We had to re-hash a good bit of our selections, and there were a couple of errors that caused some last-minute stress (e.g., sending us a contract with another couples' names on it within a week of the wedding, leading us to panic for a moment that they had double-booked our date; confusion about our bar package, which could have substantially impacted the cost). However, everything worked out just how we wanted in the end!\r\rOur only issues were minor, and were so specific they're probably unlikely to be experienced by other couples, so I'm mostly bringing them up so the venue gets feedback. I would recommend the Alumni Center without hesitation! We can't thank them enough for all they did to make our wedding day amazing. Reviewed on 07-11-2015
Rebecca Westwood(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 31-05-2014 Great service! Beautiful place for a wedding reception! They made our wedding day simple and PERFECT! Reviewed on 24-06-2014
Maradith Meeks(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-08-2013 The venue itself is gorgeous, and you definitely pay for its beauty and conveniences. It's a great place to have an all in one evening. The courtyard is amazing when the weather cooperates, and the ballroom is beautiful and spacious for a lot of guests. The people are very friendly and work with you during the whole planning. However, there were a lot of hidden charges in the final cost they didn't tell us about when they gave us the initial estimate. Overall, I loved my wedding venue, everyone said how gorgeous it was, and very satisfied with the outcome. Reviewed on 09-09-2013
