Victoria Raines(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-09-2022 If you’re looking for an almost completely inclusive venue look no further than the George Washington Hotel in Winchester, VA! They take care of the room to have your ceremony, cocktail hour, reception and rehearsal in which includes setup and tear down so you don’t have to spend time doing all that before and after your wedding. They have amazing food and beverage packages which include an open bar! You also receive a day of coordinator and complimentary room to stay in the night of your wedding!Everything went beyond expectation and to be honest I only have a few minor issues that arose! First was that the timing of the coordinating of certain moments was not on time or not done at all. For instance, moving from ceremony to cocktail hour was ahead of schedule and therefore people were standing in the lobby for over 10mins waiting and its a small area. It would have been nice to let people into the cocktail hour room sooner. I also had a few guests express upset because some of the George Washington staff members working the wedding were slightly rude and seemed irritated to be working. Next, we were promised to have appetizers set aside for us during cocktail hour and that never happened. Some guests did not receive their salad before the main course was served. After our cake cutting, they were supposed to do a complimentary cutting of the cake so guests could get a piece if they wanted and that never happened. Overall, no issue was so great that it ruined our special day! However, it would have been nice to not have had so many small issues over the course of our our day. We had a wonderful evening with family and friends and would do it all over again at the George Washington! Reviewed on 21-09-2022
Rhonda Grajales-Davis(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-09-2022 Absolutely the BEST experience I could imagine! This hotel is beautiful and provided the ideal backdrop for our wedding and for the photos. The hospitality there is exceptional. From the moment we called to inquire about pricing, Rachel Thomas treated us like royalty and took care of every little detail. She was always available to answer questions or call me with important information. She assisted through every part of the process and remained flexible through our changing of times and requirements. Every person we encountered at the hotel was courteous, professional, and friendly. The restaurant staff took extra care in providing a beautiful dining experience, incredible food, and the best customer service anyone could ask for. My wife and I searched many venues before deciding on this one, and we don't regret our decision. We want to say thank you to them for all they did to make our special day PERFECT! They answered our millions of questions thoroughly and thoughtfully. They also communicated well and reached out to us when they had questions and concerns. We were always kept in the loop. My dad also thanked them for their hospitality on the day of the wedding. The venue was gorgeous and got nothing but compliments. The food and catering service also got many compliments. While as the bride and groom we did not get time forcocktail hour, 2 servers came to our rescue at the garden and provided us a few appetizers. Bless them.On rehearsal day, Rachel took time to wipe dance floor down. Thank you 🙏🏽Some guests who called in advance to check-in early also got an opportunity to use their room earlier than anticipated. Much appreciated. We also got time to practice our first dance asmany times as we wanted because the ballroom was already set up and available for our use. Much thanks! In addition, the set up for the reception was beautiful. While it didn’t exactly look like the floor plan we received prior, the venue did everything they could to accommodate guests and the space we had. Thanks a ton!On wedding day, Kendra took time to tell me how beautiful my dress was and that it was the best one she had seen since her time at the GW. So sweet!Right before the ceremony, one of the people at the front desks kept our belongings in a safe place. We trusted them to hold our wallets and phones and our thankful for their quick support.Everything went smoothly, despite us running an hour behind due to so many logistical details, and we are so grateful for the venue + team for being able to handle so many things with kindness and grace. Our guests wanted to continue partying and enjoyed spending time in the GW garden and bar. Thanks for accommodating us all!It was an honor and pleasure to choose GW hotel as our wedding venue. No regrets. Alexandra Francavilla(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-01-2022 This hotel is lovely! Each room has lots of space, the pool is nice and unique - my guests and my sisters kids a like loved it, my mom was able to get a last minute massage, it is walkable to a lot of lovely restaurants, and the Half Note bar in the hotel Lobby is great to hang out! Oh! and large bathrooms which is great for getting ready!I worked with Felicia to book our hotel block! She was wonderful at helping us work through problems with our guests booking. This is the only reason we are giving it 4 stars. The booking process was rough for our guests. Every single one of our guests, including ourselves, had issues booking with the block when they called the front desk. It always worked out but it was unnecessarily difficult to get a room at times. It seems like there is some sort of disconnect between the block and what the front desk is able to do. Also the parking with snow was a bit tricky with uncleared spots, and then the garage parking was a bit unclear with valet parking or if we could park there because the outside lot was full. On a positive note, I booked their largest suite and it was a amazing! I had my bridal party over the night before and the day of to get ready. There was also a waterfall shower and large tub!Overall, I would say book here but make sure you have more than enough rooms on hold in your block and have them a few days before the wedding as well. When we had to postpone our wedding from May to November, the venue was nothing but flexible and understanding. Everyone was very responsive, nearly almost always a same day response was received! Although COVID precautions were in place during our wedding ceremony and reception, everything turned out just as I have envisioned. We were glad that masks were required and appropriate social distancing measures were taken to ensure everyone felt safe and comfortable! We have heard from many family members how comfortable they felt and how nice it was to be able to have such a beautiful wedding during such a crazy time. Sarah DeLuca(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-10-2020 This venue was so accommodating to every request we had. Planning a wedding during a pandemic was less than ideal, however Jane (who will be retiring after many years in the business) came to us and said these are the COVID-19 regulations, we can make this wedding work in a safe and secure manner. I was able to have a medium sized wedding with all the precautions in place and still have an amazing evening and a day I will never forget. The team at the George Washington, Banquet Staff, Hotel Staff and coordinators all played a role in making my wedding day the best day ever. They do a great job of coordinating all the details for the big day and working with vendors. Everything went as planned and they are very accommodating. Reviewed on 12-10-2020

Rachel Scanlon(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-04-2020 Jane and the staff at the George Washington Hotel have been absolutely wonderful to work with! They were warm, inviting, and accommodating since we first called them to tour the venue. Most significantly, when COVID began shutting things down in March, I reached out to Jane immediately since my fiance Phil lived oversees in the military and we knew it would be hard for him to travel. Jane was completely understanding and told us we could change our date or even cancel with a full refund. To have this weight off our shoulders was invaluable. Over the next several weeks, while Phil and I were trying to figure out how to get ourselves in the same country to get married, the George Washington Hotel staff remained steady in reassuring us that we could change the date or even cancel. We tried to reschedule a few times, but realized that travel will not be possible. All the while, the George Washington Hotel staff were very responsive and completely understanding. When we did decide to cancel, they were incredibly gracious. In the end, I was able to join Phil oversees and we got married privately. But I am hoping that we will be able to celebrate at the George Washington whenever we are able to get back to the States. Reviewed on 26-08-2020

When looking for a venue, we were looking for a location that offered a place for all of our wedding activities in one location, so that our out of town guests did not have far to travel and this hotel did not disappoint! It truly is a one stop shop for the perfect wedding weekend. We were able to host our room block, welcome reception, ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all at this beautiful historic venue! The hotel is located in the beautiful downtown area in Winchester, which offered our guests a multitude of dining, restaurant and shopping options all within walking distance of the hotel! Working with Jane on the details for the wedding was so easy! She is always prepared and knowledgeable to answer any questions that you may have as well as willing to offer helpful suggestions along the way! A true gem in the wedding planning industry! She takes care of making sure that you are able to fully enjoy the time leading up to your wedding day and the big day itself by coordinating the details with the hotel and vendors, allowing you to spend time with your family and friends. The George Washington Hotel has truly put the right people in place in order to ensure that your wedding is the day of your dreams and that it comes off flawlessly! I cannot say enough about the care and time that the staff took with each one of my guests to help them navigate the area, provide a seamless check in or serve a fantastic meal. Jennifer our Banquet Manager checked in with us several times during the evening of the wedding to make sure that we were well taken care of and had everything that we needed! They took the time to clean up and set aside all of the elements that we provided for the wedding for easy pick up the following morning, so that it did not take away from our celebrating after the wedding was over. There were no worries or stress when it came to the set up of the ballroom, as the beauty and charm of the hotel and venue truly do shine through, which make it easy to decorate and add your own personal touches to make the space your own! The facilities have recently been renovated and it shows, I understand that the family that owns the hotel purchased it for $600K and put millions into the facility. The staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. Our friends encouraged us to hire a wedding planner - no need. The staff was very involved and the process went off without a hitch. Melanie Mathov(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-09-2019 When we first visited the The George Washington Hotel, we fell in love with the space right away. It had exactly the right vibe for our Versailles-themed wedding and required little additional decor besides floral arrangements. We also liked that our out of town guests could stay right there and not have to worry about transportation. The hotel rooms there were also very nice, especially the suite we stayed in the night of the wedding.Jane and the entire staff of The George Washington Hotel went above and beyond to make our wedding day absolutely perfect! I really cannot say enough good things about them. Jane is SUCH a pleasure to work with and incredibly professional. I'm sure I drove her crazy with all the emails I sent about food choices, stickers for the seating cards, the dimensions of the mantle in the George Room for the florist, and just the most mundane details about our wedding, but she was always very responsive and helpful in answering all my questions.Emily, who handled the reservations for our room block, was equally professional and helpful. She fielded a ridiculous amount of emails from myself and my dad and was always so polite. The day of the wedding, the entire staff of The George Washington Hotel really brought their A game. The food and beverage service was excellent and, as we had come to expect, everyone was very friendly and professional. They helped setup the seating cards, our remembrance table, and even moved our card box to our room and setup our wedding favors. Everything ran so smoothly that day and Jane and the rest of the staff played a HUGE part in that.We also had our rehearsal dinner at George's Food & Spirits and our morning-after breakfast was in one of the smaller meeting rooms, and both of those smaller events were absolutely perfect as well. We're so glad that we chose to have our wedding at The George Washington Hotel and we HIGHLY recommend it! Erin Lidyard(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-09-2019 Jane Obst and her event team at The George Washington Hotel made our rehearsal dinner and wedding day absolutely perfect - so much so in fact that our guests are still talking about the venue and it's vintage beauty weeks after our blessed event. The rehearsal dinner was intimate and the food (the bbq buffet was our choice) was sublime. The wait staff was so in sync with what everyone in our room needed and the entire night ran like clock work. Afterwards I was able to easily store decorations in a room they'd reserved for us before the wedding day and not a single item was lost. I had booked our Honeymoon suite (free with our wedding package) the night before the wedding as well and the room was breathtaking - worth every penny. There was so much space and everything we needed for the morning of the wedding was readily available. (We enjoyed the room so much that my husband and I have agreed to spend our anniversaries, when able, in the same room each year). The morning of my wedding, a hot Eggs Benedict breakfast was delivered to my suite where my bridesmaids and I were having our hair and makeup done - if it hadn't been for that unexpected delicious breakfast, I certainly would have forgotten to eat. As our wedding ceremony was at the Glen Burnie Gardens at the Museum of the Shenandoah (the GW hotel has this venue as a ceremony option that is free!), my husband and I did not return to the GW hotel until after pictures were complete at the gardens. As soon as we were on the reception scene, we were given appetizers and then were introduced into the Ball Room behind our bridal party. My heart skipped a beat when I saw the beauty of the room lit up with all of the decorations I'd tirelessly created, everything in exactly the right place. My husband and I had white wine waiting for us at our head table and were always served first which we greatly appreciated since we were starving at this point. The food, again, was sheer perfection and the guests still comment on how wonderful the food tasted. The wait staff and bar staff were friendly and obliging - I know I never had to leave the head table for anything other than certain parts of the wedding itinerary and greeting each table and dancing at the end of the night. Being an ex cake decorator, I had some reservations about the cake cutting process but they handled it beautifully, all out of sight in the kitchen. Of all the places my husband and I visited when we were beginning the wedding planning process, we knew very early on that the GW Hotel was it, pretty much as soon as we were inside. I cannot say enough wonderful things about the staff's professionalism, their selflessness, and their timeliness. I still can't believe the prices we paid as they were surprisingly low for the stellar service and all of the accommodations provided. One of my favorite pictures from the wedding is the sparkler send off where my husband and I are kissing in the middle of the crowd on the steps of the front entrance to the hotel. We will certainly be recommending this venue and their team to anyone who asks and because of the staff, we literally had nothing go wrong at our wedding. Not a lot of couples can honestly say that...and surprise, our wedding day flowed smoothly by and wasn't \"over before we knew it\" by any means. I hope this helps any couple looking for a venue for their ceremony/reception in the future - we hit the jackpot with this wonderful place! <3 Reviewed on 12-10-2019

Alyssa Michnick(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-10-2018 After looking at nearly 30 venues in the DC metro area we ultimately chose The George Washington Hotel and it could not have been more perfect for our wedding. The other venues were missing something- whether it be a lack of rain plan or too few bathrooms for our number of guests, something was always amiss. We visited many beautiful places but the GW has the whole package. Not only was the Ballroom absolutely stunning but the staff were INCREDIBLE. We also loved the pocket garden and it’s string lights to set the mood for cocktail hour. From the very first meeting we were impressed with the hotel and staff. Our first meeting was with Felicia, and she was wonderful at answering and humoring all of our many, many questions. She showed us packages and available dates and really talked us through the George Washington wedding experience. The George Washington had the space to accommodate our full wedding weekend itinerary. Beginning with a rehearsal dinner and ending with a Sunday brunch buffet. Our guests never had to leave the hotel and we were able to customize everything to fit our specific tastes. We loved how we could customize every detail of our wedding weekend to make the entire weekend exactly as we had imagined. From the point of booking with Felicia to meeting Jane to go over our wedding weekend details, we felt confident and at ease. All of the staff we met and worked with were extremely professional, kind and helpful. We were blown away by the quality of food and portion size at our tasting (and at the wedding). And I was in awe that after the tasting when I briefly glazed over wedding ideas while talking to Jane, they were suddenly detailed at length and incorporated into our day of timeline. Jane was THAT on point that she was able to decipher my half thought out ideas and not only make them legible on paper but to write them out in the exact ways that I imagined them. Emily was so helpful and prompt with assisting with everything and anything relating to our room block. We had over 70 guests staying in 35 rooms at the hotel and Emily was fabulous at giving me updates, swapping rooms around and ensuring that everyone got room gift bags. She was flexible, professional and when I asked 12 questions a day leading up to the last weeks before our wedding, she typically responded immediately. We had the wedding of our dreams and it was all thanks to the George Washington Hotel, Jane, Emily, Darren, and all of the other staff who helped to make sure our entire weekend was special. We couldn’t be happier with everyone and everything. We were even happy with their recommended vendor lists. We used most of the recommendations and loved everyone that we selected! Choosing The George Washington Hotel to host our special weekend was the best decision we made. If you’re reading a million reviews trying to select a venue like we did, do it! Pick the GW! We chose the George Washington based on three primary reasons: 1. The GW was the best value of all of the venues researched. It has a variety of all encompassing packages and many were approximately 30 - 40% lower than the DC metro rates. It can accommodate every budget. We chose a moderate package and it included a dual plated dinner, wine with dinner, and horderves' with drinks during the cocktail hour; Also included in the package were elegant specialty linens, china, and crystal stemware which added a level of elegance without the added cost. 2. The hotel's Grand Ballroom is simply STUNNING. Built in 1923, the historic ballroom has a very elegant and neutral decor and is graced with 10 - 12 original gleaming chandeliers. Combined with the floral and decorative accessories from the DaVinci florist of Maryland, the ballroom was transformed into a modern and sleek reception space. Truly breathtaking and beyond all my expectations.!!3. The hotel's wedding coordination staff were just so amazing. The team of Jane, Amy, and Emily were attentive to every detail. They returned calls promptly, and work seamlessly with all of the supporting professionals which culminated with a well coordinated, and timely affair. The food was just as good or better than the tasting. All guests were served in an expedient manner and there were many, many compliments to the chef. Our final request was for a SPARKLER exit, which I thought would not be allowed; to my surprise, the staff supported our request and assisted guest as sparklers were lit in the midnight sky.In closing, the George Washington hotel and staff were wonderful and is highly recommended for your event. So many of our guests commented to us that it was the best wedding they had ever been to. Just about everyone told us that the food was spectacular, especially the steak which was cooked \"perfectly\" and was \"smooth like butter.\" One person even told us that after putting the first bite of steak in his mouth, he paused to watch the reaction of everyone else at the table - he couldn't believe how good it was and had to make sure it wasn't just him! Jennifer and Kate were wonderful banquet managers and the staff was top notch. My husband and I really appreciated it when Kate came over to our table during dinner to tell us where we were in our schedule and help us get ready for the cake cutting. Truly, everything from our ceremony all the way until the last dance was incredible. The venue was absolutely beautiful and not just the George Room (which itself was magnificent). Several of our attendees came in to town early and nearly all of them remarked on how nice the hotel is and how much character it has. Everyone seemed to really enjoy their rooms and certainly the half note lounge which was visited more than a few times over the course of the St. Patrick's Day weekend! We couldn't have asked for a more perfect wedding. And what our attendees didn't get to see was no less important to making a great wedding come together. All the behind the scenes coordination and planning - beginning with our first meeting with them, our tastings and creating our room blocks, multiple in person meetings, and finishing with our last meeting the day before - was fantastic. Suzi and Emily were so easy to work with and always responsive to our emails. And Jane, was such a pleasure to work with. The presentation of the “Martha” salad and dinner plates were impressive. We have had many compliments about the appetizers served during the cocktail hour as well as the dinner. We are amazed that the duet plates, each consisting of chicken breast and filet mignon, were cooked to perfection and served hot. Kate, Kalika, and the team of people working the kitchen/banquet were friendly, professional and took great care and pride in what they did. I was relaxed and enjoyed every moment of the day because I knew that Ms. Jane Obst, the coordinator/ social catering manager, was detailed in everything that she did and is impeccably organized -- beginning with the tasting we had to decide the meal selection to being back at the hotel the morning after our wedding to oversee the beautifully done brunch for approximately thirty-five overnight guests. Neither the chicken nor the salmon entree was like the tast testing. I asked many of our guests and they all said that the food was not very good. Imagine how it must be to say that to the bride! Considering that the meal is such a huge part of the entire bill, I think it must greatly be proportionally reflected in my review.\r\rAdditionally, with our wedding package, we were supposed to have a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries in the honeymoon suite. They were not in the room. The next morning I asked at the front desk and the person acted like I was making it up. Then she looked it up and they had upgraded our room but didn't move these items. She was unapologetic and rude about the whole process. The George Washington Hotel offered everything we were looking for - great location, ceremony and reception in the same place, plus hotel rooms for all the guests. Jane and her staff were amazingly patient and helpful throughout the process and on the day of the wedding they could not have done more to make sure that everything went smoothly and according to plan. Jane Obst and other staff at the hotel were incredible--so pleasant, professional and accommodating. The hotel is a beautiful, historic venue that is elegant but comfortable. Staff was welcoming and eager to make our day special. The Garden Room was so attractive that only minimal flowers were needed. The food was delicious and was perfectly and efficiently served. My niece and her bridesmaids loved their day. Our experience was truly memorable Reviewed on 18-07-2014

The George Washington was the perfect location for our April wedding. Jane Obst and her staff made sure that every detail was perfect! The ballroom is gorgeous, the staff is attentive and no detail went overlooked. Jane was incredibly helpful in managing multiple vendors and making sure that our special day was completely stress-free. Anonymous (bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-05-2014 This review will focus primarily on The George Washington Hotel, however I do want to include some brief input on several other vendors (the celebrant and bakery) as well to provide a complete picture.\r\rThe George Washington Hotel: I can not say enough positive things about the experience we had planning and executing our wedding at this venue. Working with Jane Obst and Jennifer, our Banquet Manager the day of our wedding, was amazing and wonderful. Between the two of them the planning phase and actual wedding day went extremely smoothly and no details were left out. Our ceremony was held outside in the Pocket Garden (the May weather was gorgeous) and the reception was indoors in the Garden Room, which is a perfect set-up if you plan for a smaller and more intimate affair such as ours, we only had 35 people in attendance. Elegance and class are the best words to describe the presentation of the tables, the food and overall look of the venue. The food, beverages (we had a bar) and service was phenomenal. I highly recommend their salmon entree. Jennifer was extremely attentive during the entire event and arranged for our gifts to be taken to our room along with pieces of wedding cake for later. Our wedding cake was supposed to have chocolate cream in the center because my husband loves chocolate, but they made a mistake and used vanilla instead. As a kind gesture the staff brought my husband a piece of chocolate cake to make up for a mistake, which was not even their fault. As part of our wedding package we were provided a junior suite, so after a delightful reception my husband and I got to retire to a luxurious room and really enjoyed a soak in the hot tub and swimming in the pool. In addition, our room had an amazing Jacuzzi tub. Overall, I would definitely choose this venue again because planning everything was very stress free and our reception went flawlessly.\r\rCelebrant: The Wedding Chapel at the hotel performed our ceremony and our celebrant was George Kempf. My husband and I really enjoyed the ceremony, but unfortunately none of our guests could hear the celebrant. So, this was a HUGE negative for our overall wedding experience. My mom is particularly upset because she was unable to hear anything and feels she was robbed of a very special part of our wedding day. I completely agree and fault George for this poor planning. He encouraged us to hold our ceremony in the Pocket Garden and should have considered either projecting his voice better or wearing a microphone. For someone who has been performing ceremonies for over 20 years (as stated on his website), not to mention we paid him $195 for his services, this should not have been a problem!\r\rSweet Tooth Bakery: We ordered a cake from this local bakery in Winchester, VA and as previously mentioned they mistakenly used vanilla filling instead of the chocolate bavarian cream we asked for. Also, we asked for a cake that would serve 40 people and the two-layered cake we received BARELY fed 35. The hotel, after our cake cutting, took the cake into the kitchen to be cut-up and served, but they had such a difficult time portioning the pieces that everyone ended up with only a half piece of cake. Not to mention the cake was lopsided, which did not happen in transit and the decorative roses were sloppy.\r\rIn conclusion, I would HIGHLY recommend the George Washington Hotel as a wedding venue. However, the celebrant George Kempf and Sweet Tooth Bakery did not meet our expectations. Reviewed on 05-06-2014

We are planning a destination wedding for my daughter at the George Washington Wyndham hotel in a few weeks. Jane Obst, the event manager, has been nothing short of remarkable. Her experience, attention to detail, and calm guidance have been a Godsend. Between planning from California and family difficulties due to a very ill grandparent, I'm sure we've been a challenge, but Jane has never lost her patience, and has responded to every question with thoughtful answers and excellent suggestions. \r\rMoreover, because of her experience, she thinks of details that we never would have considered, and has come up with quick and perfect solutions for problems that my daughter and I thought would be difficult. Our planning meeting and walkthrough was one of the highlights of our wedding planning experience. And the hors d'ouvres we sampled that day were absolutely delicious.\r\rThe hotel is beautiful and the ballroom is exquisite, with lots of natural light. It's very different, and much prettier, than the standard closed-in hotel ballroom. The bar across the lobby is wood-paneled, gorgeous and elegant but does not feel stuffy. It reminds me of upscale cocktail lounges I've seen in New York and Chicago. The hotel feels so welcoming that we're having the farewell breakfast here the next morning, and the groom's family chose a pretty private dining room for the rehearsal dinner, too. \r\rThe location is great, too, just about a block from the downtown Winchester pedestrian mall, so there will be plenty for our guests to do within walking distance. \r\rFinally, a word about value: Yes, it's about an hour from Dulles Airport and an hour and a half from D.C. But that distance has a big effect on pricing, for the venue itself and for the hotels. (It's important to us that our guests have affordable hotels. The George Washington is very reasonable, and Jane connected us with a colleague at the very pretty Holiday Inn Gateway for our guest overflow that's even less costly.) \r\rBecause of how our families are scattered, I looked at venues from Ventura County, California to Washington, D.C. This was BY FAR the best value. \r Reviewed on 03-09-2013
Ashley Tucker(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-07-2013 I got engaged in December of 2011 and had my wedding reception at the George Washington (GW) hotel on July 13, 2013. I worked with Jane Obst and the staff there for over a year to plan our reception. The staff is incredibly professional and efficient and Jane is so easy to work with. My mom and I basically had to tell them what we wanted and they would give us tons of options. They offer seated and strolling reception packages that include some great things like champagne toasts for guests and a night in the hotel's luxury suite which we took advantage of. We had a strolling reception because we had 250 people. The GW can seat a max of 180 people, so know that going in. I was a bit unsure of the strolling reception idea at first, but, let me tell you, it was awesome! The GW offers enough package options that you can get what you want. The day of the wedding, I didn't have to worry about anything. The staff made an effort to take care of me and my new husband by making sure we got something to eat etc etc. That was huge to me because we did not have a sit down dinner and so many people wanted to talk to us that we could barely breathe. So many guests told us how awesome the room looked, how good the food was, and how great the service and food was. I feel so lucky to have been able to have what I would consider the perfect reception at the GW. We both grew up in Winchester and loved the modern yet classy and historic feel to everything. Not to mention that our out of town guests loved the accommodations and location of the hotel. It's an easy 2 block walk to all the great restaurants and walking mall in Winchester. I have no doubt we will frequent the GW hotel to celebrate our anniversary. Reviewed on 02-08-2013

Michelle Dye(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-06-2013 GW hotel was a wonderful setting for our wedding reception. The ballroom was a great venue for our event. Jane is the event manager at the GW and she was fantastic throughout the process. She was accommodating to any request we would make and she sought to ensure the event went as smooth as possible. Unlike most locations where they may seek the most money from you, she sought to ensure things were done within a reasonable price. She would make insight recommendations while at the same time, not telling you her opinion on the subject. She was willing to easily adjust the timeline, store decorations, accommodate last minute requests, and friendly throughout. The food manager did a wonderful job and the food came out hot, on time, and seamlessly. The food was delicious ranging from apple wrapped appetizers to a unique salad presentation to wonderfully cuts of filet. The hotel is in a great location in downtown Winchester, providing a wide range of activities for our guests. Reviewed on 01-08-2013

At every moment, the GW staff was accommodating and helpful. Jane was wonderful to work with, I wish everyone was this awesome. We had an issue with linens prior to the wedding and it was handled promptly and without hassle. The 2nd chosen linens were perfect and really set the stage for a fun and great night.
