Stacey Guardino(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-06-2021 No rehearsal the night before. It has to be done the morning of. You’re not allowed on the grounds until 11:30 AM. Our hair/makeup team needed to start by 9:30 for pictures at 2:30. We offered to pay the $300/hr for TWO extra hours. Anne said no because staff needed to clean, even though they didn’t have an event the night before. I expressed concern with a five-hour event. Anne insisted couples get tired and want to leave early. She finally agreed to a six-hour event after I said how disappointed our families were with her lack of willingness to work with us. I reached out about whether ice was provided. She said it was, but then said it wasn’t. She stated she had said yes because she would have ice for water but not for other drinks. After showing the email where she said it was provided, she agreed. The staff does not cut the cake. A family member has to cut it. Unusual for an event, as there is normally a cake cutting fee. Anne said no to providing that service. We wanted an ice cream truck. Anne said no. We received an email stating there should be minimal drinking while getting ready on the grounds. It was restated by Anne in the morning, saying, “emphasis on minimal.” A man drove the golf cart to take the bridal party to the chapel. I asked if it was time to take us, as we were sitting there for a while. He said that the staff would radio him. We watched our wedding video and, for one minute and twenty-eight seconds, everyone was turned around watching the door waiting for my dad and me. A $1,000 retainer was collected. Anne sat in and/or around the chapel the ENTIRE cocktail hour to dictate where people were drinking because her floor wasn't sealed. Anne asked multiple people to stand outside with their drink, including our uncle, who has Parkinson’s. She should not have been walking around enforcing rules with guests. That is why you collect a retainer.Despite seating chart, staff put eight plates at every table. Guests decided to move around to other tables which left one table empty and one table with two guests. My MIL and FIL felt badly for the two guests, whom they had never met before, and decided to eat dinner with them.We dealt with a tornado warning in Southern Waller County, thirty miles from The Grand Texana. “The National Weather Service send out alerts when a tornado or other immediate emergency is happening. They're distributed to all phones within a certain radius of the emergency.” We were not within the radius. My main complaint how it was handled. We had the venue until 10:30, as we paid the additional fees. Denise brought her phone up to me TWICE on the dance floor IN FRONT of my guests to show the radar. Then, Anne and Denise walked up to us again while on the dance floor and Anne said, “We’re shutting it down.” She asked us to go inside to talk. She told us she “couldn’t hear” and made the DJ turn the music off. Guests sat outside for fifteen minutes in silence. We were told guests needed to come inside and be gone by 10 PM. After that, we never saw Anne or Denise. Denise didn’t setup a send-off so we didn’t have one. Neither were around to assist with clean up, but of course, Anne complained about a bottle being disposed of incorrectly. However, we were left to ask the security guard if it looked the way Anne would like it.•••Anne had her hand in every detail every step of the way. She is passive aggressive and not flexible at all. Dawn Boyle(other)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-04-2021 The Grand Texana was perfect! As MOG, my only involvement was oohhh and ahhing over the wonderful choices my future daughter-in-law and her mother were making. From what I understand, the wedding coordinators worked well with their family, including being accommodating with meetings and planning with my d-in-law being out of the country. The grounds are beautiful, the venues are gorgeous. I love the history of the venues and it added so much charm to our event. The groom's carriage house is understated yet elegant, and the bridal cottage is breathtaking, spacious and decorated so lovely. There were several drawbacks that didn't affect our event much, but there are rules in place based on what the venue has endured due to other wedding parties taking advantage of The Grand Texana. Just be aware of them, and note that the venue has had to implement those because others act inappropriately. If you're unsure...really read what they are expecting of you as these are followed quite closely, including time frames.I would say it would be beneficial to the venue to provide outdoor seating for those who are infirmed (or tired of dancing!) during the hors d'oeuvres hour and during the dancing, rather than having guests bring chairs in from the reception. Also, if the weather is to be cold, and you're having dancing, bring blankets for your guests. Our evening turned quite brisk and ended up raining, and despite the heaters our bride's family brought it, it was still very cold for those who were not dancing. As well, if rain is predicted, bring umbrellas. You can go from the chapel to the reception and dancing area without getting wet, but if you need to use the restrooms, that pathway is uncovered. Tasha Carmack(maid of honor)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-03-2021 Beware of this venue. The Grand Texana has beautiful features but is oddly laid out. The bridal suite is across the venue far away from everything else. The bathrooms for guests are in a completely different building then the reception area. If it rains you will get soaked going to the restroom. I was in a wedding there just recently. The Bride, bridesmaids and myself(Matron of honor)arrived at the time told to us by the venue. When we arrived (40 mins prior to the ceremony)I was sternly spoken to by the wedding coordinator and demanded to be at the chapel in 10 minutes with all the other bridesmaids. There was no need to rush us to stand in a chapel for 30 minutes prior to the ceremony. Once we frantically rushed over we stood idly waiting for absolutely no reason, the same as the Groom and Groomsmen. Before the ceremony began the Bride was rushed into the same area her groom was standing where he could see her!! This is totally unacceptable! To say she was livid is an understatement. After the ceremony the reception took place. The Bride and Groom were rushed to do everything and were even asked 45 minutes prior to the reception being over if the venue could start picking up decor and cleaning up. Ridiculous!! They are paying to have the FULL experience. The entire wedding party felt as though the Venue wanted to get the wedding done and over with. Brides and Grooms, if you are wanting a Wedding that flows easy and are wanting a magical experience, this is not the venue for you. Reviewed on 24-03-2021
Jill Paulsen(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-03-2021 This venue is very pretty. We had a short, 5 hour event (Sunday Brunch Wedding). We were very rushed upon arriving to the venue, had no time to even say hello to our bridal party, and felt that the venue just wanted to get things over with. We gave the venue our arrival times, which they said were totally fine, but as soon as people began arriving, we were hurried to get things done. We were not allowed to arrive earlier than 10AM, with a ceremony beginning at 11AM. This would have been fine, but there was no reason to rush my Groom and his Groomsmen into the chapel at 10:30. He didn't even have time to give his groomsmen their gifts and say thank you. If this was going to be so rushed, we should have been advised of this and/or allowed to arrive a bit earlier.I do see that this brunch wedding is no longer an option offered on their website packages, so maybe we were the last couple to be able to have the inclusive brunch wedding and they were ready to get things over with.I was asked, while the reception was still going on, if they could start clearing out decor. There is a paid hour cleanup at the end of the reception - this shouldn’t have even been a question. All in all, we felt we couldn't even enjoy our day because of how rushed we were.EDIT: The response from the venue is comical at best. We chose our start time, asked the venue if it was okay, had invitations printed, and then were told the earliest we could arrive was 10AM. At NO point was it appropriate to rush my groom into the chapel at 10:30AM, usher me into the chapel while my groom was standing in plain view of me before the ceremony, or ask if clean up could begin before the reception was over. This venue is deceptive at best and, judging by the responses to the other bad reviews, are passive aggressive in their comments. Spend a little extra and go somewhere else, brides. It’s not worth it here. Reviewed on 18-03-2021
Isaiah Lopez(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-02-2020 This venue was absolutely PHENOMENAL! My wife and I had our wedding in February and the way the sun set on the property was breathtaking. There were two separate barns; one for the ceremony and one for the reception, both of which were incredibly beautiful and super spacious! The best part was they were super close together. There was no walking across the property to get from the ceremony to the reception, they were only a short stroll away from each other. Stormye and Anne provided us an altogether complete and amazing experience, both on our wedding day and leading up to the wedding. They both made sure everything was in place and ready to go physically on wedding day, but also planning everything out in the months prior: nothing was left out or forgotten. If you’re looking for a wedding venue to provide a next level wedding, seriously consider The Grand Texana. Jenn Schroeder(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-03-2020 As much as I wish I was writing an amazing review right now, that’s unfortunately not the case. If you would have asked me 2 months ago, this would be a 5 star review. The Grand Texana was great from our first venue tour, taking my bridal portraits on site, to working with me on my requests. Ann and Stormye were very friendly and were always there to answer my questions. We had our 30 day meeting and everything seemed like it was going to be perfect and I truly thought it was going to be. Unfortunately about 2 weeks after the 30 day meeting the Covid-19 became serious and our wedding unfortunately had to be canceled. At first Ann was very helpful and apologetic, but then the question came if we were going to get our money back and the answer was no we had to go through our wedding insurance. I then remembered they required us to purchase wedding insurance and it was part of the contract that we buy it(we paid for it not the venue). Which thank God we had it because we would have lost $15,000. Basically what I am saying is that it just doesn’t sit right with me that a venue gets to keep $15,000 for not providing all of the services. I would understand if it was our fault that it was canceled and they could have had a wedding in our spot and earn money on that. But that just simply is not the case, the Covid-19 was something that was out of our control. Reviewed on 20-04-2020

We met Anne in the office of the venue and her sweet charm had us smiling from ear to ear. We were excited to see this place! She took us on the tour - the property itself is adorned with huge trees and white barns and cottages - my mind was running wild with all the possibilities! Our first stop was the Groom's Cottage - near the front of the property and large enough for the guys to feel at home and settle nerves before meeting up with the girls later. We then came upon the white structure, open to the elements with a RED chandelier hanging (this was one of the main reasons for seeing this venue in person) on our way to the Bride's Cottage. This cottage was decorated with so many personal touches and very spacious to have areas for makeup, hair, sipping champagne and even changing into our dresses. Next stop on the tour was the Chapel - the part of the historic dairy barn! Such a cool place and very bright and airy. I'm pretty sure at this point the future hubs knew I was going to make up my mind almost instantly. Anne took us to the reception area where we entered through the Big Red Sliding Barn Doors...and I saw inside and tears came to both my eyes and my bridesmaid's and we looked at the groom and all smiled - we all knew this was the place to have the best day of our lives!Anne ran through the options and packages and we decided that day, this was the venue for our special day.Stormye was in contact with me and keep me on track with the decisions that needed to be made for the year leading up to the BIG DAY. Kate McCroskey(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-03-2019 I want to start of by saying that the venue is beautiful. There's no denying the elegance or charm of the barn & its surroundings. For the most part, I think my wedding was fabulous, & my guests seemed to really enjoy themselves... but there were a few bumps along the road that I think other brides should be aware of. I should also mention that my family & I are pretty laid back/low maintenance, so keep this in mind as you read. The all inclusive package prices only account for 100 guests, so if you plan on having more than that, just know that you'll be paying extra for both dinner & dessert (pretty standard, but they didn't tell us until we were signing the contract). They also have you rent pretty much ALL of their decor, which eats up the majority of the $500 decor credit that's included in the package, which is fine. But they left out a lot of decor that I didn't rent on the day of my wedding, which made me question why I had to pay for the extra decor once I exceeded my $500 credit if they were going to leave most of it out anyway. There were also a lot of things that weren't included in the all inclusive package that you end up having to add on (i.e. security, insurance, etc.), so we ended up paying about $5k more than what was advertised. They also accidentally cancelled my DJ because they got my wedding mixed up with another one. I get that everyone makes mistakes.. but I was the one that figured it out. Not the venue. So had I not taken the initiative to email my DJ some questions, I probably would have showed up to my wedding & not had a DJ. They did fix it & I did have a DJ, but I had a hard time trusting them after that. They also tell you that you have access to the venue for 12 hours (11:30am-11:30pm), with the last hour of the evening reserved for clean up, & I was fully aware of when I signed my contract with them. But I often felt pressured by Anne to end my wedding earlier. She asked me on multiple occassions if I wanted to end my wedding earlier than I had planned, which seemed kind of odd considering 10:30pm really isn't that late for a wedding. They're also kind of weird about their 30 day consultation. Anytime I had questions during the process, they would answer my questions & work with me, but not without reminding me that we'd talk about it during the 30 day consultation (which just started to seem a bit passive aggressive at times). Lastly, there was a miscommunication between Anne & the day of coordinator regarding my day of timeline & how long we had booked the DJ for. Long story short, I was given a day of timeline that said the wedding would end at 10:30pm, and we were told (the morning of) that we were all paid up (including the extra time for the DJ). Well, at about 9pm, I was asked if I could end my wedding early because the DJ was only paid until 10pm & said that we needed to write them another check if we wanted to have the DJ until 10:30. I think had I not already felt like I'd been pressured multiple times to end my wedding earlier, things might have gone a little differently, but I ended up in tears, the check we wrote for the extra 30 minutes was ripped up in my sister's face, and my parents missed the send off because they were arguing with the owner. But the food was great, the wedding was beautiful, and overall I had a good time. And I think it's PERFECT for smaller weddings that end earlier in the day. Paige, our day of event coordinator, was a huge help and made sure that everything was planned before the event, and the day of she made sure everything was set up and kept everything on schedule. Alex Bailey(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-11-2018 We toured this venue back in 2016 and immediately fell in love. We booked it a little over 2 years before our wedding date, which was a little nerve racking as a lot can happen/change in that amount of time. The owner, Anne, was so great about keeping us in the loop on all of the improvements they were making to the venue and we were able to visit again just before our wedding to see all of the changes in person. The day of coordinator that was included in our venue rental package, Paige, was a GODSEND. Her title does not do her justice. She worked with us way before the day of to help us plan and finalize many of the small details you might overlook and then stress about the day of. She was so great about communicating with us and with our vendors to help take some of the pressure off of me. On the actual wedding day, she and the venue took care of everything. I honestly don't know what we would've done without her help. Additionally, we chose to use the caterer recommended by the venue, and the food was some of the best we've ever had. We went with the barbeque, and so many of our guests were commenting on how great it was. As for the venue itself, it was absolutely stunning. The newly converted chapel that we held our ceremony in was so bright and full of character, which meant that we didn't need much in the way of florals and decor. One of my favorite things about the Grand Texana was the history behind it. Many of the other venues you see were built specifically for weddings and large events, but The Grand Texana was a 1900s dairy farm that Anne and her family converted into a venue. I appreciated how tastefully done the renovation was and their decision to keep some of the original features so that it retained that farmhouse charm that I love. Our experience was absolutely amazing and our wedding day was beyond perfect. Reviewed on 02-02-2019

She checked in on us all night long asking if we needed anything. She was absolutely perfect!! The only thing that I wish was different was the catering option. We did like the BBQ but we would've liked to taste more options. Seeing as the caterer that is associated is in Hempstead and only allows food tasting during the week and in work hours made it extremely difficult tasting the food we'd have at the wedding.. The entire place is charming and made me feel at ease. My husband and I are both easy-going people and wanted our wedding day to be as stress-free as possible. We loved so many things about this venue so i'll just list them below. - Great location (right in the middle for our Houston and College Station families) - Location again (spacious, beautiful outdoor space, secluded and away from the city) - Charming details EVERYWHERE! (Decorative mantle, doors, lanterns, greenery, wood top tables, chapel arch, adorable cow decor, just everything!) - Separate areas (You have different options to choose from for holding your ceremony/reception/dancing. No need to worry about unpredictable weather! There's also heating/cooling inside. Big plus!) - Wonderful staff (Very nice and professional. Anne and Amber are wonderful to work with. Quick to respond to e-mails.) - Ample parking space ( I saw that some guests were escorted by golf cart to get to the ceremony spot. Walking in the grass with heels can be tricky.) - Relaxing suites for bride and groom (The bridal suite has plenty of natural light for getting ready! We had plenty of seating, a cute kitchen for getting lunch ready, and two bathrooms!) - Rehearsal dinner the night before (Doing this was a huge help when it came to getting ready for the wedding day. We were able to bring a lot of items and set some of it up. ) - Catering area ( We brought in our catering so they didn't use this space but we did for holding extra drinks, decor, and food. Having extra space is always good. ) With any big event, there will be a few bumps. Mentioned below are the only things I could think of. - We had a little bump in planning regarding the number of children attending but it all worked out and they all had a blast dancing. - It felt like the night came to a close a little early. I believe it was a little before 10pm when we had our last dance. - After our bride/groom exit, the wedding party went to the suites to retrieve their belongings. The venue staff were already in there cleaning so the party felt rushed. It would have been nice to have access for about 15mins before the crew comes in. Overall, we had a great experience with The Grand Texana. We had so much fun and are thankful we came across the venue! Reviewed on 26-02-2018

Holli Hudson(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-04-2017 First things first, The Grand Texana was an outstanding venue from first meeting to saying goodbye after the reception. The only requirement we had at first was to get married in front of a field of wildflowers (which turned out to be MUCH harder than we thought!). After much searching, we happened across The Grand Texana and they had a wonderful field of yellow wildflowers. The only thing was, it was inside a long white fence. Sensing our disappointment in having the flowers blocked from view, Anne (the owner) volunteered to removed the pieces of wood from one post to another, creating an opening for us to get married in front of.Talk about accommodating! They also allowed us to go out in the fall and throw out more wildflower seeds to add a little additional colour for the spring. We ended up with some Bluebonnets, Indian Paintbrush, Black-Eyed Susans and more. With only six months of planning time, Anne and Amber (the day-of coordinator) were so amazing to work with, and were attentive to our questions and ideas at all times. Seeing as Hempstead is a bit of a drive for us, they were very prompt with e-mail, phone and text replies. The day of went off without a hitch on their end, and everyone raved about what a beautiful and unique facility it was. With such an open area throughout the grounds, there was so much potential for personalization, yet we wanted to let the venue mostly speak for itself. The separate Bride's and Groom's quarters were such a cool feature, and really allowed us to spend time with our people without feeling cramped (as is the case in so many other venue holding areas). The weather was perfect, the sunset immaculate and Amber was always there to anticipate our needs. While our timeline started inevitably running late, she made sure we were aware, but was never pushy...she just adjusted the schedule according to our wishes.I could go on and fill the character count, but you get the idea! B Kody(wedding party)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-12-2017 I never imagined that a dairy barn could make for such a magical wedding location. My friend held her ceremony in the barn and it was beautiful: the quaint church pews, the view of the prairie through the open barn doors, the simple but elegant decorations all made for such a beautiful evening. I would definitely recommend this venue! Reviewed on 01-10-2016

Ryan Puffer(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-11-2017 I married my beautiful bride here! We were married June 25th, and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect setting for the happiest day of our lives. The groom's cottage was an incredible amenity that allowed my groomsmen and I to be comfortable and entertained during the longest wait of my life. :) The reception under the central Texas stars couldn't have been in a better setting, and our getaway through the mature pecan trees was dreamlike. We are so grateful for The Grand Texana and the amazing Anne and Amber for helping coordinate our day! Reviewed on 28-09-2016
