My husband and I had the most beautiful fall wedding at Graylyn! It turned out better than we had even hoped. The beauty of the surroundings was a source of constant comment and exhilaration from our guests. Small details that we were initially somewhat concerned about in terms of the flow of our schedule worked out beautifully. The different rooms and outdoor spaces created a sense of anticipation, wonder, and surprise at each stage of the wedding celebration. The Graylyn staff was attentive, warm, and professional. We were so impressed by them. Cindy and Chandler in particular were extremely accommodating and helpful in bringing our vision to light, and worked closely with us to plan everything throughout the course of a year. The food was delicious and the bartenders were great. The getting-ready rooms for the bridesmaids and groomsmen were perfect spaces. Finally, many of our guests stayed at Graylyn which was really fun and special, as people had traveled from all over. Our guests loved exploring Winston. We would do it all over again in a heartbeat! Reviewed on 13-12-2023

Working with Graylyn for our October 2023 wedding as absolutely incredible. Every wish was accommodated, responsiveness from Graylyn coordinators was always timely and helpful, especially when working with Cindy. I cannot express enough how wonderful my wedding experience at Graylyn was. Graylyn was a stretch for our budget and not only would I pay for it over and over again, but the staff understanding of our budgetary limits truly made the experience so comfortable. The venue itself is irreplaceably beautiful, the food was INCREDIBLE we got so many compliments on this), and bartenders and waitstaff were so friendly. Graylyn provides an unforgettable experience. We had a rehearsal dinner at The Graylyn Estate in late September. It really was the perfect venue for us. Dinner was held in the Atlantis Room and the after party was held right outside in the White Garden. The staff made planning a breeze; many options for food and drink and they offered several useful suggestions for how the evening would unfold. All the food was excellent, in particular the lamb. We could not have imagined a better place - a cool fall evening affair at a stone mansion, beautiful landscaping, great food and drink, lovely attentive staff, and time with family and friends (with a full moon to boot)! This has been a fantastic event and all was extremely well prepared and worked out like a charm. Importantly, the venue itself is very beautiful and the ceremony location was stunning. Unfortunately, upon arriving to the venue, guests were not instructed where to go or where the ceremony is (the venue is quite large.) During the reception, dinner service started abruptly and some of us did not realize what was happening until dinner was almost done. During dinner, they ran out of silverware, plates, and bread frequently. I asked the staff logistical questions (where is the dessert, where are extra plates) and did not get clear answers. I don’t recommend this venue at ALL. They have an extremely shady bait and switch approach to selling their venue. During the tour we were shown the White Garden for our ceremony, the Dining Wing for our dinner and the Atlantis Room for our reception. We signed the contract in Oct 20 for our wedding in Oct 21. I told them I wanted a year to plan. We understood that with the unpredictability of Covid, our guest count might change a little, but at this point vaccine rollout plans were being made so we weren't too worried about anything beyond a guest cap and masks. In Oct they said that an event coordinator for the venue would be reaching out to introduce herself shortly. This hadn't happened by Dec, so I reached out and received a greeting. She said since our wedding was so far out she was in \"no hurry to nail down details\" and told us we could start planning \"in the spring.\" I went ahead and asked about using lights in the Atlantis Room. She said yes.Mid-March we got updated Covid guidelines for the venue saying no dancing, no more than 25 people, seated dinners, and this applies to weddings through Dec 21. They said they would be reaching out to couples in the coming weeks. We decided we didn't want to have a wedding like this. I noticed then that the contract didn’t include dancing and our reception was listed as the Dining Wing, not the Atlantis Room, despite having been told that's what we would have BEFORE we signed, and the acknowledging of our intent to use it in December AFTER. We had to be the ones to reach out again and ask about these guidelines in mid-April where they said our contract would work \"as written\ Reviewed on 31-08-2021

Anna Boyer(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 25-10-2020 Beautiful Venue. Great Food (and catering service was phenomenal). Terrible communication. I understand that I was planning a wedding during a pandemic, but they refused to give me a proper tour of the place. When it came to the wedding day, the floor plan was half done and had never been discussed in detail with me despite my multiple efforts to iron out the details. We discussed a tent option in case of rain, but I made it clear that I did not want a tent unless it was needed. When there was a 50% chance of rain on my wedding day, I reached out the day before to discuss options (like delaying the ceremony time). She refused to talk to me or my dad over the phone (my dad was paying and wanted a proper phone call) and she basically said the only option was to pay for the $3000 tent that I had already clearly declined and then she forwarded me to the billing department, and I didn't hear from her after that. Not only was it rude, it completely ruined the night before my wedding as I was going back and forth with my family about how to pay for this ridiculous tent that I didn't want. The morning of the wedding, it was steadily raining, and my family was working their butts off to make sure that the tent that we were being forced to use (and pay for) looked pretty. My cousin asked the coordinator if we could get the table cloths that we were promised, and she said that they would get them when my family \"got out of the way\". I ended up having the ceremony and reception under the tent - and guess what - it stopped raining right before I started walking down the aisle. If we had delayed it like I asked, it would have been exactly like I wanted. My advice: have your baby shower, wedding shower, business luncheon, wedding photos, etc. here - just don't get married here. If you must (it really IS SO beautiful!), hire a wedding planner to deal with the staff for you and wait until ALL of the covid restrictions are lifted. They won't compromise with you. There were multiple staff changes from when we signed on for the wedding to the day, so by the end of it I had been working with 3 separate event coordinators and some things could have fallen through the cracks (e.g. our menu choices were not entered correctly into the event document) if I had not been paying close attention. Julia was ultimately our coordinator for the day, and she was excellent! Otherwise, Chef Rollins was amazing, and my wedding turned out even more beautiful than I planned. Danielle Campos(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-10-2014 I have to say the venue is gorgeous. I am getting married here on 10/18/14, and the process has been stressful when dealing with Graylyn. When my fiance and I toured the place Krissy was great, and was helpful in what was included. We were told that we would not need a coordinator since Graylyn had a event coordinator already who is Paula. In the beginning Paula was helpful, but that only lasted for about a month. It is extremely difficult to get a hold of her or to hear any response at all. I have even delayed sending invitations because I have no idea how the selection of menu process goes (which I need to place selections on my RSVP since we are having a seated dinner). This is frustrating since 100% of my guests are out of town. What is even more aggravating is Paula said we would need to hire a day of coordinator when we were told we would not have to on the day of tour. I am hoping our day is smooth, and thanks to Bliss by Sam Weddings who will be coordinating our wedding I feel a bit more confident. I also would not recommend blocking rooms with Graylyn unless you are 100% certain who is wanting to stay there. They charge you for all the extra rooms that did not get booked. Even before the cut-off date you tell them you will not be needing that extra room they will still charge you. Reviewed on 18-06-2014

We had extreme issues with the overnight accommodation reservations, we were even told when we went to check in that they did not have a reservation for the Bride/Groom- I was horrified! It ended up being a mistake. We asked for a list of room availability to try and assist our guests with reserving rooms near other family members/guests since the property is so large, we never got the list. Numerous family members told us the reservation desk was horrible to deal with. \r\rI also struggled a bit with Paula. I felt as though she was pushing me towards certain vendors and choices for my wedding. She was a bit condescending about the choices I did make that were not part of their approved vendor list. I was resistant to call her to ask questions, because I felt like I got a bit of an attitude when I did.
