The Henry House Reviews

I’ve been trying to come up with what to say about our wedding weekend at the Henry House and part of me has been putting off writing this review because it feels like the closing chapter of one of the most special journeys my husband and I have embarked on and the other part of me is just at a complete loss for words for how incredible our time was there. Back in December 2020, as we began discussing our engagement, I started exploring local venues on Zola and stumbled upon The Henry House. To our amazement, it was right in North Bennington, and we had never even heard of it – a true hidden gem!In January 2021, we scheduled a tour and were instantly charmed, not only by the historic homestead but also by our fantastic tour guide, Tom Sklepowicz. Believe it or not, we fell so in love with the place that we booked it before we were even officially engaged! Unlike many wedding venues today that require setup and tear down in one day, The Henry House offered so much more. It provided a place for family and friends to stay for the entire weekend, which was an absolute blessing.Throughout the entire planning process, owner Rebecca proved to be extremely communicative and helpful. The Sklepowicz family was there every step of the way to ensure that our wedding weekend ran without a hitch. Our guests were truly in awe of the beautiful grounds, from the charming chapel in the woods to the perfect cocktail hour area on the upper patio, complete with an adorable corn crib converted into a bar. With a full bridal suite and a massive homestead, along with an additional red barn Airbnb to rent, there was plenty of room for our families and bridal parties, as well as space for both partners to get ready on the property. The option to host our rehearsal dinner and even a farewell event on the property was a bonus, and their extensive vendor lists helped us find the perfect teams to complete our special day.Our time at The Henry House was an absolute dream and an experience that we consider truly priceless. If you're wondering if this wedding venue is the right fit for you, trust us – it is!Even more amazing, during the off-season, you can rent the house or barn as Airbnb accommodations for a special way to reminisce about your day with family and friends. We are certainly planning to do this at some point! Reviewed on 25-09-2023

We were married last year at The Henry House and it was the most amazing experience! Rebecca, the host, was so kind and accommodating. She recommended other vendors in the area and gave us an idea on what to expect during the planning process. Booking your wedding at The Henry House is like getting a venue, accommodations, and a personal wedding planner all in one! On the day of the wedding the property was immaculate and Rebecca and her family worked so hard to ensure we had the perfect day. We received so many compliments on the venue and how much fun everyone had! If you're looking for a venue with the capability to stay in a gorgeous historic home, look no further! Thank you Rebecca and family! -Gabbi and AJ Raskin Reviewed on 10-09-2023

It’s hard to put in to words how amazing the Henry House is. But to highlight a few, Rebecca and her family are easy to communicate with and always responded to my endless questions and concerns in a timely fashion from start to finish. The entire family cares so much about the property and the couples that decide to get married here. The grounds are always kept pristine, so much so that you don’t need to add anything as it is already so beautiful! One of my guests even said, “this is the most stunning venue I’ve ever seen” and I couldn’t agree more! We stayed in both the Henry House and the Red Cottage for the entirety of the weekend. Both houses were welcoming, clean and perfect for our wedding party and family. This venue and family made our wedding, a dream come true. I still remember after our site visit when we were searching for a venue, my now husband, looked at me and said, “we are getting married here.” And I wouldn’t have had it any other way! The Henry house is a unique and special place for a wedding. Between the main house and the guest house we were able to host our entire wedding party and immediate families for the weekend. It was nice to be able to spend so much time with them.We had our rehearsal dinner on the back patio which was so nice to be able to do. It was great to be able to spend the entire weekend there and not have to travel anywhere else. Unfortunately the actual day of the wedding turned out to be a rainy one and Tom constructed a birch harbor for us for under the tent that same day, which came out beautifully. Overall the entire family were great hosts. We had a wonderful time and so did all of our guests. I would highly recommend this location for a wedding. Reviewed on 28-06-2023

We had the most incredible wedding weekend at The Henry House in June 2023. Our guests were in absolute awe of the grounds, with many remarking that it was the most beautiful wedding they had been to. We enjoyed the full property, using the wooded ceremony location, the patio and corn crib barn for our cocktail hour, and a tented reception on the lawn. Our guests loved all of the thoughtful details like the adirondack chairs, the string lights and lanterns, and the outdoor fireplace during cocktail hour. The family & staff were so wonderful to work with, and communicated with us often over our nearly two year engagement. We also enjoyed staying at the house and cotttage on the property, which were both beautifully restored. We could not reccomend this venue more! Reviewed on 22-06-2023

We held our daughter's wedding here on June 10. The most magical venue known to humankind. Tom, Rebeca, Sarah, and the entire staff were fantastically helpful at every turn. Our guests were amazed at the beauty and peacefulness of the location. We would do it all over again in a heartbeat. Enjoy! Reviewed on 12-06-2023
Gracie Winship(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-09-2022 If you are even THINKING about having a wedding you absolutely must use this venue. My husband and I were looking for a venue that allowed us to offer our friends lodging but also was flexible and allowed us to choose our own vendors. This place fit the bill! Rebecca and her family were so easy to communicate with and were the perfect combination of warm, friendly and relaxed while also being consummate professionals. The grounds are immaculate with beautiful gardens and endless locations for beautiful photos and quiet conversations. The owners truly care about making this the best experience possible and have thought of every detail. The amenities were unbeatable. Electricity and internet on the grounds. A gorgeous bathroom house by the lower lawn for easy guest access and more bedrooms than I could count on my hands, full of beautiful beds and decor. Our guests felt like they were staying at a 5 star hotel. Our ceremony was under two gorgeous, tall trees and it was the most scenic and wonderful experience. Rebecca and her family hung a beautiful while valence and the whole scene felt magical.Mostly though, I was so touched by the Sklepowicz family and how well they took care of us during the weekend. I don’t know where to start with my gratitude and thanks. I was so moved by one of the owners coming by in the mornings and setting a fire on the patio and making sure everything was in tip top working order. The owners were present and warm throughout the entire weekend and helped with parking and event flow. I felt like we were in the best hands ever. They are such a special family.I could go on and on and on but just go see it for yourself and you will feel the magic and love. Reviewed on 15-12-2022

Cayle Donisthorpe(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 19-06-2021 When planning my wedding I wanted something small. The Henry house was absolutely perfect for our ceremony. Being on a tight budget we opted for the outside only package. Rebecca and her father both had fantastic ideas on the layout of the ceremony and they installed doors in the field to make a barrier for me to hide behind. They were so amazing and Rebecca was there on my wedding day to make sure everything went smooth. If I were to pick one thing I liked best it would have been the gorgeous steps with multiple platforms which we used for an altar. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! Reviewed on 29-06-2021

Abby Goldsmith(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-09-2013 We had our wedding at the Henry House on October 5, 2013. We reserved it in January of 2013 and Nancy and David were great to deal with from the beginning. They always responded to emails immediately and David reassured me that everything would be fine as he saw my pre-wedding jitters. Nany made us a couple lovely breakfasts and even catered to one of our bridesmaids that had an egg allergy. David was at the Henry House during the entire wedding, and we saw him, but he didn't intervene at all. He just wanted us to know he was there in case we needed him. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. Everything I wanted for my wedding Reviewed on 24-10-2013
My parents are retired school teachers & business owners who have always loved working with people and contributing to our small town community. Since I was 8 years old we have always had a family business, from Christmas trees & wreaths, to our recent adventure of rejuvenating the historic Henry House. The original charm of this landmark home is retained for your pleasure in this authentic inn that my family has recently renovated to share & enjoy from our family to yours. The Henry House features a beautiful open front porch which overlooks the red covered Henry Bridge & Walloomsac River.
