The Kyle House Barn Chapel & Wedding Venue
Welcome to the Kyle House! We are a unique wedding venue in the historic town of Fincastle, Virginia. We offer an amazing barn wedding chapel with exquisite drapery and vintage chandeliers. After the ceremony, your guests will enter the Kyle House and it's gardens to celebrate with you and enjoy a fabulous wedding reception. Why the Kyle House? If you are looking for a cookie-cutter venue with four walls and the same format that people have been doing for years, we are not your venue.!! When people come to the Kyle House, they say how awesome the venue is and how amazing the food is. We ofer multiple spaces for your guests to enjoy and they love it! From the downstairs brick room and beautiful upstairs ballroom to the outside deck and beautiful gardens, there is something for everyone to enjoy. We are all-inclusive! What does that mean? It means a stress-free wedding for you! Everything is included at the Kyle House so you don't have the expense of renting things. We include all the tables, chairs, linens, centerpieces, cakestands, pa systems and much more. We also take care of all of the food and beverages so you don't need to worry about hiring a caterer or getting an ABC license. On the day of your wedding, everything will be set-up so that you can come in, put out your personal decorations and then enjoy getting ready with your bridal party in the bridal suite. Also, most venues only give the guys a closet to get ready in! We offer a beautiful parlour room just for them! We believe in helping you find quality vendors that will do a fantastic job for your wedding! Many local vendors (photographers, cake bakers, DJs etc.) will give you discounts at the Kyle House. Where will your guests stay? We have that covered too with awesome accommodation offerings right in Fincastle and hotels close by.

My husband & I were just married at The Kyle House last week. There are no words to describe the charm, ambiance & uniqueness of this venue! Every guest we had remarked on the beauty and comfort of The Kyle House. The food was beyond what we expected!!! So many options & gorgeous presentation of food that was incredible to say the least! The owners Amanda & Jim are amazing to work with! Everything that you could need is there! I took a small box of my own personal decor and that was literally all we needed. We could not rave enough about this beautiful venue, experience & amazing value! Thank you Amanda you're the best! 😊

I loved the look of this venue! It’s amazing since it is all in one. The only downside being the layout; the food was upstairs and dance floor down so it was hard for the guests that couldn’t make it upstairs but we were prepared to have plates made for them. It did present a problem for getting speeches and dances getting missed. What was offered was a time frame of 4-8 for the wedding and they allotted 2 hours for set up and 1 hour to take down. We purchased 3 hours prior to the set up allotted time so we could set up and have plenty of time to dress there. We loved the barn in all it’s rustic charm. I’m told the food was amazing (However we didn’t get to eat anything that night...unfortunately it was thrown out even though we had brought Tupperware and were told afterwards.) Seriously people are still talking about the food. We were told that we would have food to take home but I’m guessing that’s only if you opt to stay at the cabin but we put that money towards paying for the extra hours. I would suggest using the extra hours to make start time earlier to make the wedding longer so that it’s not rushed and you actually get to eat the food and do any cute wedding traditions you had in mind. I thought Amanda was nice. Patient in the few visits we made with essential people like the DJ etc. I wasn’t super impressed with the response time for any questions and typically required my husband to check back on things. However the photographer recommended was amazing and the staff was beyond helpful and all of our guests were pleased with how quickly they handle everything. I got sick towards the end of the night and the bartender was beyond kind and went out of his way to equip me with some ginger ale and made sure to check how I was after the event. If you book this vendor I would be sure to dot all your I’s and cross all your T’s to make sure that everything is going to go according to your plan since it’s your big day. Don’t leave anything open ended. We were told at first when we toured that we would have the venue for the day but we didn’t, we were told they would not only adjust the headcount the day of whether we were over or under so we paid for about over 10 more guests than we had, and we were also told that since the Bride and Groom never get a chance to eat food would be set aside for us but that also didn’t happen so I’m super glad we ordered subs while we got dressed. Don’t get me wrong it was still a beautiful day and I still married the man of my dreams but I’m a firm believer in reviews and helping the next review reader tweak her day with what I think is helpful info. Good luck Brides! May the odds ever be in your favor!

We had our wedding here last night and it was truly a dream made into a reality. Amanda and Jim were easy to work with and always answered all of our questions honestly and in a timely matter and were so much help to us, because of them our wedding day was as stress free as possible. I highly recommend this venue because the food is to die for and you’re getting your money’s worth to have the perfect wedding. It truly could not have been a better day. Thanks to all of the staff at the Kyle House as well for being so kind and helpful. We strongly recommend choosing this venue for your wedding.

Oh, you need to get married here and nowhere else. The customer service from Amanda and Michelle is out of this world. They are very accommodating and hang on your every word. You need to hire Michelle as your wedding planner because she keeps everyone on task and will also be your right hand lady for anything and everything you need. The venue is perfect for 30-120 people and very intimate. Everyone that came to our wedding was so impressed with the Kyle House and raved about it all night. The food is great too, just make sure to do a tasting because some items can be a bit too spicy for some guests. Everything here is seamless and easy. You will love it here as well!

The Kyle House made our wedding day so amazing. Not only was the day amazing, but the planning process was so seamless on their end. Jim and Amanda were so helpful, kind and responsive. This venue was so incredible and unique. We got so many compliments on it from our guests. It is reasonably priced as well, they don't nickel and dime you like so many other venues do. If you are looking for a laid back unique wedding this venue is amazing.

This was the best venue possible for my wedding!There is plenty of space to eat around the house even though the official dining room only seats about 60. The food was AMAZING and there are so many places to take amazing photos.The ceremony space looks just like all the photos they have on their site. Jim and Amanda at the Kyle House were great. I was a very hands off bride- I didn't want to worry about table centerpieces or cake transport. The Kyle House has centerpieces we used for free that were very nice silver candle holders. They couldn't make a cake, but they made us the most delicious bread pudding ever with whiskey sauce that I wanted to drink. The menu was broad and by all accounts delicious, and they were able to accommodate both myself and my sister who needed super special meals due to dietary restrictions (celiac vegetarian and vegetarian no nightshades). Having a clear price ahead of time made it easy for us to budget and the prices were extremely reasonable. We couldn't be happier with our choice and happily recommend the Kyle House! I'll also note that having a space that doesn't require a seating chart was clutch. I'd have hated making one and the last minute cancellations would have been the end of my sanity- no problem at the Kyle House.

Our wedding day could not have been more perfect! This was in large part to The Kyle House. Michelle helped to make our day so stress free and took care of all the little details and kept everything running so smoothly and the transitions were so seamless. We got so many compliments from all our guests on how great the food was-- some even said it was the best wedding food they'd ever had! It was a beautiful, intimate day and I cannot imagine having spent it anywhere else. The wedding night cabin was a very nice bonus too. We were exhausted, so it was so convenient to cross the street and have somewhere super cozy to spend the night.

The Kyle House was the perfect venue for our wedding on April 22nd, 2017! The flexibility of the reception space created the exact atmosphere we were looking for. It gave a relaxed feel for our guests without feeling too casual. The chapel space was perfect size for our wedding and a gorgeous backdrop for our non-denominational ceremony. Having everything for the evening all in one place and already included in our rental package (furniture, linens, etc.) made the planning a very smooth process. Our guests raved about the food (as did we) and many said they had never experienced a venue this unique. Also, getting to spend the night in the cozy cabin right by the venue was a great way to end the evening. Working with Amanda was an absolute delight, and while Jim can come off a little intense, he knows exactly what is best for the evening. They both were very responsive to any questions that we had and were a big help in planning for both the ceremony and reception. We can’t thank them enough for making our big day so special!

It gave a relaxed feel for our guests without feeling too casual. The chapel space was perfect size for our wedding and a gorgeous backdrop for our non-denominational ceremony. Having everything for the evening all in one place and already included in our rental package (furniture, linens, etc.) made the planning a very smooth process. Our guests raved about the food (as did we) and many said they had never experienced a venue this unique. Also, getting to spend the night in the cozy cabin right by the venue was a great way to end the evening. Working with Amanda was an absolute delight, and while Jim can come off a little intense, he knows exactly what is best for the evening. They both were very responsive to any questions that we had and were a big help in planning for both the ceremony and reception. We can’t thank them enough for making our big day so special!

The Kyle House is amazing. It was an amazing place to get married, and Amanda and Jim (the owners) are great. Amanda is very responsive to emails and did an amazing job helping us coordinate things. Jim runs the kitchen, and their food is delicious. Michelle, their optional on site day of coordinator was also amazing. She was very helpful with making the schedule, decorating the house, coordinating other vendors and making our day perfect. We could not recommend this place enough.

Attended a wedding and reception at the Kyle House. Rustic could be one word to describe the venue, though not the one I would use. Inside chapel was quaint, but included exposed screws, birds nest. Food was adequate. I guess you get what you pay for. The bride and groom seemed very satisfied, and that is ultimately what counts. Most of staff I encountered were not very friendly or at all helpful to a mere guest. Balcony areas very small and not safe for small children.

We got married March 2017 at The Kyle House and could not have picked a more perfect location. Prior to our own wedding we had attended two other weddings there which was ultimately when we first fell in love with the venue. We consider ourselves to be very simple and easy going people; The Kyle House offered us the opportunity to have a beautiful, Instagramable wedding without having to pay hundreds of dollars for decorations. The entire venue is its own perfect decoration, however adding your own special wedding touch really sets it off! We absolutely loved the intimate, rustic appeal the barn offered with the wooden flooring and walls and dim candlelit lighting. While it may seem small, they can comfortably fit 130+ guests. The Kyle House itself is set up perfectly for encouraging guests to move around and mingle. We had a live band set up in the main reception area, which is an old store. There was ample seating and space for dancing. The style and set up of the bar was an absolute hit with our guests who are still talking about it. It was somewhat chilly on our wedding day so not much time was spent by guests in the courtyard but the Schaals have really done a lot to create such a uniquely beautiful area for hanging out. Now...THE FOOD...the food was absolutely amazing!! Our wedding was at 1:30pm, therefore instead of a plated meal we offered hors d'oeuvres consisting of pulled pork BBQ sliders, blackened tiger shrimp, cavatappi alfredo with spinach and parmesan, chicken salad, and an assortment of dips, cheeses, fruit, etc. It was so convenient being able to book a beautiful venue + caterer all in one! I can honestly say that we did not run in to one single mishap or issue during the ceremony or reception. Days later I expected to hear a horror story or two but all I was told was how shocking it was things went so well. I attribute this all to Michelle Day, the wedding coordinator for The Kyle House who is beyond familiar with venue and an absolute all-star at what she does. She sat down with us and hashed out all of the day-of details and was able to put together a flawless timeline for the day, while also guaranteeing that any special requests we had were met. If you book the Kyle House, do yourself a favor and request the help of Michelle!! Don’t try to plan it all on your own with the idea that you can handle it...I started out with that mindset and after the first talk with Michelle I quickly realized that I would have ran our wedding in the ground without her. Jim and Amanda Schaal have a beautiful venue, wonderful food, and an incredible staff who do all things possible to meet your needs. They were very accommodating and easy to work with. We were blown away by the promptness of the staff, their positive attitudes and professional behavior at The Kyle House! The owners, Jim and Amanda Schaal are very responsive to phone calls and emails and will sit down with you as many times as you would like to discuss your big day. The venue is incredibly beautiful and unique! There are new renovations in the barn that really add value to the venue. They are the caterers for the venue as well ... and it's worth every penny! I cannot praise The Kyle House enough. Jim and Amanda Schaal have worked tirelessly to change their venue into a dream location. I started planning my wedding early February 2015 and The Kyle House was my first choice. The House has the a sweet rustic charm,the barn in which is considered the chapel is a slice of heaven. When you walk in, it will truly take your breath away. If you plan to have a wedding that is at least 100 people, this venue is for you. The food is absolutely amazing, the price of alcohol is very reasonable, and their house Manager, Kelly will help make your wedding move smoothly and a wealth of information. It was an easy choice to go with The Kyle House. If you have a small budget or a larger one, you will get what you pay for. I could not have had a better day. We were married October 11th, 2015 and the whole day was beautiful. I wish it would have lasted longer! I have recommended so many brides to visit this venue and experience its beauty.

We did not have assigned seating and wanted a place where people could feel at home and roam around the property instead of being crowded into one big room.
