Jocelyn Ajibola(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-10-2021 The Larimore ripped us off. The owners pretend to be nice but they are shady and don’t actually care about the couples paying for their venue, they just want your money. And in our case they wanted us to pay for their loses during covid that had nothing to do with us. The venue itself is just ok. It’s small and cramped and overpriced for what it is. With the date we chose and our budget it was the best we could do at the time we booked it. The pandemic made it unsafe to have a big wedding and the restrictions made it so they could not accommodate the size wedding we agreed to in the contract, so we tried to move the date of our wedding. They gave us two options: 1. Don’t change the date and pay the full amount even though we were getting less for our money or 2. Pay an additional $1500 to change the date. We knew we were being taken advantage of but we had already paid more than half of our total and they weren’t willing to give a dime back. When we tried to agree to pay extra to move to a new date they changed the terms of our contract so we assumed more risk than before. I guess they thought we were too stupid to read the new contract and they were completely unwilling to change it back to what we already agreed to. We decided to take our business to a better more accommodating venue with more space, prettier surroundings, and better food. We lost what we had already spent but didn’t want to give any more of our money to people like that. Reviewed on 07-06-2021

Unfortunately, our vendors in Florida pretty much ripped us off and we were out thousands of dollars. However, I knew if I had to get married in Missouri, the Larimore was my dream venue. Let me just say, Dena & Allen did not disappoint. They went above and beyond for me & Drew. At our first meeting, Dena showed me the COVID clause in the contract before I even asked. That was the first moment I realized that they really cared about their clients. A month before the wedding, the county executive came out with even more limits on gatherings. In a panic, I called Dena. Boy, did she have a great game plan that made me feel like we were all truly doing the best to keep everyone safe. The day before the wedding, I did not like the cannisters the sweetener packets were in. So, Dena found some very lovely candle holders and transferred them all for me. I am SO thankful she did that! It was a simple gesture that really made my day! The day of the wedding, 2 of our vases broke. So, Allen went and found some vases that we could potentially use. Again, Dena & Allen go out of their way to make your day truly special. Our wedding day was an absolute DREAM that could not have been perfected without the help of Dena & Allen. Terra Stewart(other)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-03-2007 I was a maid of honor at a wedding and the “wedding coordinator“(using that term extremely loosely) was a joke!! She was extremely rude and her husband made any question we had into a huge deal and would pass the buck off on to anyone else! The bride and groom where promised multiple things that where never delivered on. The food is just plain wedding food and we only got one option of an entree, a simple green bean side, bland pasta and a small ice cream scoop of mashed potatoes. I had a few guests even tell me that when a waiter; who was cleaning up and doing his job; was slightly bopping his head to the music when Dena came up to him grabbed his arm and told him to stop and get back to work! How horrible it must be to work for this company. The husband of Dena also closed the front gate when he noticed and didn’t like that ppl where being dropped off closer to the ceremony site. People with walkers and such where made to walk from the lower parking lot! And he was extremely rude to these people!! For how long this house has been doing wedding and how much the cost, wedding should go off without a hitch and the BRIDE shouldnt have to worry about much!! Like having the chairs of their guests being basically taken from under them. Or not having ppl directed to where cocktail hour was so the brideal party could get photos done without having to walk through a bunch of people. The Mother of the Bride had to pay EXTRA so the wedding party could be on site for a mere two hours before the ceremony. Any wedding I have EVER been apart of as long as there wasn’t an even before hand you could be on site much sooner so you are rushed. And Dena even said the property was empty up until we got there. The night before when we got there for the rehearsal and setting up the reception hall had no ac on and was extreme hot! And at no time during that day or up until the bride and groom wanted to take a specific photo; where the wedding party is in the top balcony and the bride and groom where on the bottom balcony: this desire of the bride and groom was stated multiple time during their meetings; did Dena or her husband say that would not be possible. Finally they let the bride and groom up there but I clearly heard Denas husband say they had not cleaned it as he opens the door for the bride to go out there with her EXPENAIVE gown! I would not recommend this location to anyone! You will spend to much money to have the unfortunate pleasure of having to deal with Dena and her husband! Reviewed on 08-07-2018

We weren't able to taste any of the food before we picked the menu, which was stressful. I had told Dena at every meeting that we were getting married in the chapel. At rehearsal she still thought we were getting married outside. Then during rehearsal she didnt understand that my husband & I were both walking our mothers in. On the day of she is supposed to act as coordinator, but she was incredibly unhelpful. Every time we needed her, she couldn't be found. My officiant, photographer, and DJ ended up acting as coordinators. She didn't close the curtain before I entered the chapel so everyone could see me minutes before it was my turn to walk down the aisle. My photographer & DJ had to transition between events during the reception because Dena & Allen were always missing. Our first dance got delayed and we just stood around waiting for them to turn on the dance floor lights. Our leftover cake was given to us smashed and upside down in a box that didn't even close all the way. The list goes on. It's a beautiful spot and we had a great time. On the day of the event, the Larimore staff had everything in place and things flowed smoothly throughout the evening. The food was outstanding during the entire buffet time so that guests enjoyed it whether they came earlier or later. We had many positive comments from our guests. Most importantly, the bride and groom (our son and daughter-in-law) told us the evening was exactly what they wanted. Keyra Demko(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-10-2015 The wedding was beautiful but we were rushed along the entire time. My main concern was we would not have enough time for pictures however I was assured by the owners we would. We paid the extra money to do them prior and then we only ended up having enough sunlight to do my family side after. The staff had rushed away my husband's side into the reception. When we got to the reception to try to pull them out for pictures, we were told they had to announce us and take our seats. We were also told that they would accomodate portion sizes to be larger if people did not show up. We counted that 17 people we paid for did not show up and the portion sizes were the same. I also had submitted an excel sheet of people & their table numbers in regards to who ordered what & one in alphabetical order. I was not happy that they staff was going around asking what they wanted. Why did I do all that work for? For how much we paid, I would have liked to have had more time for pictures and a better compensation for the food. The venue was beautiful, they helped me set up some extra props even when I was so tired I and stressed I almost just said do whatever. The food was amazing and the night was memorable however if we had to do it again, we would have chosen somewhere else. Reviewed on 27-12-2015

The venue is the essence of romance. What's more, Deena (the owner and your day-of helper) made everything run SO smoothly. When my mom & I had met with seven (yes 7) florists who were out of budget, Deena's go-to florist (Stems) was able to give me everything I wanted at 60% of what others were charging. On the day of the wedding, I had absolutely nothing to worry about because Deena was there and she is a pro! I was worried about it not being sunny (they have a backup indoor venue, but I really wanted outdoors) and our day WAS cloudy, but the pictures turned out beautifully. Highly recommend doing the horse & carriage entry. People are still talking about how cool it was! ALSO, it gave me a little time in the carriage to talk to my dad one last time before he walked me down the aisle. I cannot say enough good things about the Larimore and Deena. The whole staff was very helpful, and none of my guests' glasses got too empty during the reception. Reviewed on 20-09-2015

Anonymous (wedding party)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-08-2016 We just finished hosting my daughter’s wedding at the Larimore this past weekend and Dena was simply wonderful, she does work to bring a level of professional services to your event. I found her very accommodating. All of the wedding elements went incredible well and the outdoor settings were wonderful. I would recommend the carriage as it does provide a spectacular element to the wedding! \rWhen I did a site inspection of the Larimore, I had a discussion with Allen who boasted about the quality of service at his facility as I asked questions about service in the room which had a mixture of 70 inch rounds and 8 ft., 60 inch tables. He assured me that their service was on the same level as sit-down dinner service at the Ritz Carlton. Having prior experience as a banquet manager at the Frontenac Hilton, Doubletree, La Chateau and the Omni hotels in St. Louis, I took his word while excusing my doubts.\rThe Dinner elements, while the salad was average, the main course was really good with an 8 oz. Parmesan crusted breast of chicken served with Russell potatoes and assorted vegetables. Sesame crusted sliced bread was placed on the table cold with a glob of margarine available for spreading. The room itself was severed in waves, head table sections first, and followed by the main floor, saving the tiered section for last. As we were cutting the cake, which we elected to do to produce savings, we told to keep to an aisle open by Allen who seemed to serve as the enforcer rather than a service professional. I had two vegans in attendance and had to have a hard discussion with Allen about getting their two (2) plates as he stated that getting those two (2) vegan plates would slow down the dinner service. Normally I would not have made an issue about it if they had not been waiting for over 30 minutes to eat while others had already finished eating. Perhaps times have changed but I do remember the days when the customer was always right! Allen seemed rather defensive about everything! \rThe average service standards are 1 per 20, The Larimore standards are 1 per 40. Due to the plating and service, dinner took over an hour. In an average service situation you have 2 servers working 4 table with 1 server serving while the other server is transporting items such as water, tea, bread, salad and dinners back and forth. The other server is also clearing items from the tables and maintaining service. This did not happen at the Larimore where the servers carried trays with two hands and six (6) people worked a room set for 240 people. As a meeting planner I would recommend this facility for smaller groups or make sure that the facility guarantees 1 server per 2 tables of ten people, this would ensure that the quality of service is provided. Overall every one of our guests enjoyed the event along with all of the elements of the facility. \r Reviewed on 29-06-2015
Amanda Dean(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-04-2015 Perfect Perfect Perfect!!! Dena and Allen have really figured out the winning formula for a perfect wedding. My husband got married Sunday April 26, 2015 and it was the best day I could have ever imagined. From the beginning, Dena was extremely helpful and is always happy to listen and help in any way she can. The rehearsal went smoothly because she helped us with the line up, the details, and she worked great with our officiant, taking notes to make sure everything went as planned. The staff cleaned the chairs outside before the guests arrived, they were quick to help with anything we needed, and were extremely kind and attentive. I simply cannot believe how amazing they were to us. My husband and I didn't have to worry about absolutely anything all day. Trust me, Dena and Allen know how to make any wedding perfect. If you want a beautiful wedding in a short amount of time with a wonderful line up of vendors (Cake...AMAZING, DJ...SUPERB, Flower...all of it!!!!!!), take a trip to Larimore and talk to Dena. We got married last month on 10/10 and it ended up being a super rainy day... Dena kept me calm by telling me the rain would let up before the ceremony.. and sure enough it did.. she and Alan were outside wiping off all the chairs to make sure they were ready for the guests and they never once seemed annoyed or ever told me to think about having the wedding inside (the inside chapel is beautiful too but I had my heart set on my outside wedding with my horse and carriage!). \r\rOh and let me tell you we had a HUGE wedding party (over 20 people) and Dena did everything she could to make sure everything went as smooth as possible. If you want to be a stress free bride.. this is the place for you! \r\rI cannot even count how many compliments I have received about the wedding and reception... everyone tells me it's one of the most beautiful weddings they have been to... and the food is AMAZING!! \r\rIf you choose Larimore as your venue, you wont regret it! It was also important to us to have the ceremony and reception at the same location. Walking onto the property you will feel like you have stepped back in time- the property is gorgeous! The grounds are immaculate and the plantation is just beautiful. Having a ceremony in front of the plantation really is a WOW factor. Dena and Allen were fantastic to work with- I definitely wanted to customize my wedding day and they happily worked with me so that I could have everything the way that I wanted it to be. Dena was so amazing and answered questions and really paid attention to detail for me as I planned a wedding from out of town. Seriously, our wedding day was perfect Dena and Allen really did take care of everything for us. All of their recommended vendors were flawless and so easy to work with. They are top tier wedding vendors. Our wedding day was perfect so many guests came up and said they had no idea a venue like this existed in St. Louis and that they felt like that had witnessed a fairy tale wedding. We had a cocktail hour with appetizers and beverages after the wedding which our guests loved. Dinner and dancing followed in the reception venue which from the outside looks like a bar but is elegant on the inside. We served Chicken Piccata and Prime Rib- guests have commented and said the food was great! We had a great dance party with our guests along with a photo booth, cold stone catering, and an additional out door tent with a bar and cigar bar. It is the most beautiful setting: fabulous gardens, a modern yet old world feel, plenty of photo opportunities. It also could not have been any easier to plan things with Dena's (the owner and event coordinator) help. They have some vendors that they have worked with in the past already set up for you to use if you want them (I went with them and was very impressed).
