The Lumber Baron Inn & Gardens Reviews

This was the PERFECT ceremony and reception venue! The on-site coordinator, Sasha, is on top of every detail and was very easy to communicate with. Elaine, one of the owners, was always kind to us and supportive, and Joel, the other owner and the chef, was flexible, accommodating, and made the best food! I was initially concerned about having to use the inn's kitchen for catering when we booked, but Joel's food really amazed me, I've very rarely had food that good. The entire team was welcoming. Every meeting we had on location immediately soothed my stress. Our wedding day itself went smoothly, and I loved getting married out in the beautiful garden. TLDR; This is a gorgeous location with kind and capable staff who will work with you to make your wedding the best it can be. I loved it, and would recommend it for ceremonies, receptions, bachelorettes, whatever you need! Reviewed on 26-07-2023

•\tWe were very particular about what we wanted from our wedding venue and the Lumber Baron delivered on everything. We wanted a Denver venue that you could stay at both the night before and the night after, a place in a cool neighborhood for the guests to be able to explore, with an outside area for the ceremony and reception, that was also gorgeous to take pictures in and around. The staff were super accommodating and Elaine, Joel, and Sasha are a great team. While we had a more laid-back wedding in terms of organization, flowers, etc, Sasha made everything so easy! The food was fantastic, we were able to special request specific beer that we wanted at the event, and they were awesome at setting up Sunday Brunch for the morning after for our guests as well. Could not recommend this place enough! Reviewed on 23-07-2023
Teresa Wendelburg(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-10-2019 We had an amazing experience with this venue! Joel, Elaine and Erin all made us feel like family and helped every step of the way. They embraced our vision and helped make it come true. Erin was also very helpful with planning the menu. We chose the BBQ and fixings and our guests raved! Our wedding and reception was beautiful and our guests had a great time and couldn't say enough good things about it. We had the run of the whole house for the day and night of our wedding. The rooms are comfortable and luxurious. I would HIGHLY recommend this venue for any type of party you have! Reviewed on 06-01-2020
Ashley Waterman(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-06-2019 After we toured the Lumber Baron the first time, I just couldn't get it out of my mind. The mansion is impeccable, and I loved the idea of not having to decorate ANYTHING because of the venue's decor. Having the entire mansion to yourself on your wedding was a huge bonus; we didn't have to worry about random people wandering in. Joel and Elaine (the owners) were helpful throughout the whole process while Erin (their event manager) was responsive and a joy to work with. We also asked Erin to be our officiant. She met with me and after talking to her for about 20 minutes, she was able to come up with a beautiful (and short) ceremony that was just the right amount of sappy for us. We had quite a few food allergies to accommodate and we were able to ensure everything would be safe and delicious during our tasting with Joel. They even labeled all of the food so guests knew if it contained something they couldn't eat. The food was also phenomenal. For my wedding day breakfast, I had the Colorado rainbow trout, poached eggs, potatoes, and espresso. This was exactly what I needed to start the day. We did a \"snack\" buffet of buffalo chicken skewers, bruschetta, salmon cups, and potato pancakes. The chicken wasn't dry and there was a bowl of sauce on the side for those who needed more spice. The attention to the little details, like food labels and extra sauce, were greatly appreciated. The entire staff at the Lumber Baron was terrific. On our wedding day, I felt like I didn't have to worry about a thing--from breakfast to the last dance, the team at the Lumber Baron knew exactly what to do. Since our wedding was on a Saturday, we also enjoyed the Sunday brunch. This was a nice, informal way to enjoy our family after the wedding festivities. If you're having a weekend event, definitely take advantage of the brunch! Reviewed on 22-06-2019
Jillian Chambers(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-09-2018 Where to begin about the Lumber Baron? I wish there were more than 5 stars! If you are engaged and live in the Denver area, do yourself a favor and make a brunch or dinner reservation at this place. At the very least, you will have a delicious meal, and at most you will find the perfect venue for your wedding. We got married 3 months ago and our friends and family are STILL talking about our venue. We looked at several venues before this one, but the moment we walked in we knew this was it. We wanted a wedding that was truly fun and not \"stuffy,\" but still elegant enough to impress our friends and family, and the Lumber Baron fit the bill perfectly. We also wanted the choice between an indoor and outdoor wedding, and we were able to have the ideal mix of the two. We had the ceremony outside in the courtyard (and spent no money on flowers because the gardens are beautiful enough by themselves), and then throughout the cocktail hour and reception, guests were free to wander the entire grounds both indoors and out (they have 3 bars including one outside in the courtyard). Since the venue is also a B&B, we were also able to stay there the night before and the night of our wedding, along with our families, which made everything both easier and more fun. The food is delicious and in fact we've returned to the venue several times for brunch or dinner dates, both before and after the wedding. The pricing is incredibly reasonable, especially when you consider how much is included. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. But by far the biggest reason we love the Lumber Baron is the staff. From day one, all the way through our year of planning, they made us feel cared for and appreciated. The venue's wedding planner, Erin, along with the owners, Joel and Elaine, are amazing, and by the time our wedding day came the three of them truly felt like our friends. I was overwhelmed by the planning process and had a ton of questions, and Erin and Joel walked me through all of them patiently and kindly. They were always available to answer an email, meet with me, or schedule another tasting when we couldn't figure out what dinner options we wanted. They took care of every little detail - even things I hadn't thought of - and made it look easy. I was stressed out in the weeks leading up to our wedding, but the moment I walked into the Lumber Baron for rehearsal the day before, I completely relaxed because I knew everything was in their hands and would be taken care of. If you are planning your wedding, there is no better feeling that knowing someone you trust is in charge.TL;DR: This venue is amazing and I wouldn't have wanted to get married anywhere else. Go check it out! Reviewed on 14-12-2018
Josephine Frye(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-09-2018 I can not rave enough about the Lumber Baron Inn! I had my wedding there and they made everything absolutely wonderful and easy. We had a very stressful journey to the aisle due to much family stress and neither my husband or I are wedding people. The entire staff at the Lumber Baron was so so so so helpful. I can not rave enough about how well they handled absolutely every detail. We had so many last minute changes and they handled them with ease, every time we got stressed they calmed us down. I want to especially thank Erin, the coordinator, she was fantastic to work with, she went above and beyond to make sure our day was perfect. Honestly if Lumber Baron is on your list for a wedding venue absolutely must pick them, you won’t regret it! Reviewed on 13-09-2018
Pamela T(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-01-2018 We rented out the Lumber Baron for the entire weekend of my wedding. Not only did we host the rehearsal dinner + welcome drinks there on Friday, but we took over the entire third floor ballroom on Thursday + Friday to do my flowers. We also hosted a Farewell brunch on Sunday there, and truly, it couldn't have been a more perfect location for such a busy weekend. The space is epically gorgeous and my getting ready photos are amazing, the food is to die for and Joel is the most amazing host you could find. The venue is gorgeous in late summer, the staff is friendly and helpful, and we and our guests slept like rocks in the guest rooms (putting to rest any worries about it being \"haunted\"). The Lumber Baron also catered our wedding, and we received so many compliments on the food! It really was our dream wedding venue - we couldn't have asked for a better experience. Matthew Theiss(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-07-2012 Walter and Julie and the folks at the Lumber Baron Inn & Gardens were terrific with us! The venue is an absolutely beautiful Victorian Mansion with immaculate rose gardens! The planning meetings leading up to the event were handled very professionally, but with a relaxed tone. On the day of the wedding, they made sure all the other vendors were doing what they were supposed to be doing in the time it needed to be done. Walter even saved my butt, as I had forgotten to bring my vows, the day of the ceremony. I called him while in route about it. He asked if I had a smart phone and could email them to him. I do, and I did. He had them printed out and waiting for me when I arrived. phew!!! Thanks Walter. ;-)\rThey took great care of all our guests! Everybody was relaxed and having lots of fun! And made sure that we, the bride and groom, had absolutely nothing to worry about except to say \"I Do\". \r\tBecause the LB is also a Bed & Breakfast, we stayed with them (in their honeymoon suite) for the night, as did several others from our wedding party. Beautiful, romantic, and comfortable accommodations, with the privacy that a bride & groom need after the nuptials. They made sure our every need was taken care of and served up a terrific breakfast in bed to us in the morning, with a nice quiche, muffins, toast, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, coffee and orange juice. In the morning, set on a small table near the foyer, were all the items they'd found in clean up that a few of our guests had misplaced the night before. Check out was very laid back and even helped us after the event was over by holding on to the top of the wedding cake and Bride's Bouquet in their fridge for a couple days until we could pick it up from them. Thanks Walter, Julie, and staff for your part in giving us a beautiful stress-free wedding day. We are eternally grateful!\r-Matt & Ethel Theiss Reviewed on 22-08-2012
Kimberly Caulfield(bride)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-06-2010 The actual inn is pretty nice looking, except for the ugly hallway back by the kitchen that your guests have to walk through to get outside. They try to do a nice job with the gardens. There is a tacky star out back, but adds to the unique charm.\r\rThe staff though, was very difficult to work with. I wanted to know what my options were with alcohol and found there really aren't options. They act like they are pretty flexible but only with how you want the events of the day ordered. The only alcohol option was bottles of beer that were $4-5 each and $5 per glass of wine. It adds up fast. So I asked about a keg and he made up tons of excuses for why it wouldn't be feasible, then to top it off told me: \"kegs are for college dorm parties and taverns\". Excuse me but I have been to lots of nice weddings where they had kegs.\r\rI was living out of state for work and they were also very inflexible about scheduling a date for the 30-day walk through. I couldn't have made it over on my lunch break and even after I gave them several times I would be back in Colorado that would fit around their wedding schedules, my mom had to get in their face in order for them to \"see about it\".\r\rThey also did not have things ready to go on my wedding day which only gave 40 mins for dancing unlike the hour and 45 mins we had planned. That however was also the fault of the caterer who did not have food prepared in time.\r\rOverall, it looked pretty nice and I think my guests enjoyed it but I wanted to pull my hair out several times during the planning. I would be careful before booking them. Sidenote: you have to choose from their 6 caterers. Reviewed on 15-08-2010
