Mother of the Bride Review:The McKinney Cotton Mill was a wonderful venue for a wedding. It is unique and historic! Our guests commented positively on all the areas including The Dye Room, The Main Hall, and the Reception Area. Very spacious and each room has unique features. Loved the waterfall, the huge wooden doors, and the outdoor fountain as you enter the front door. Plenty of parking, close to main highways and hotels as well as downtown McKinney. Lisa who is in charge of the venue was very helpful and knowledgeable about weddings in this venue and room set-ups. CN Catering is exclusive to the venue and Amber Coker was wonderful with planning, menus, tablecloths, napkins, flatware and tastings. Our guests are still commenting on the great food served. CN also provided the dance floor and photo booth. Everything was first class. This venue is large and very artistic with the art on the walls in the main hall. We used Amber Strawn @ Styled by Amber Events as our coordinator who was wonderful and very familiar with the McKinney area. This is a very memorable event space that includes great restrooms, bridal and groom areas. We booked this event almost a year in advance. It is special! Reviewed on 04-10-2023

Lisa was supportive, caring, and attentive to all of our questions and needs. My mother is wheelchair bound and they made sure that all measures were taken to ensure she was apart of the ceremony that we had in the dye room. There was a marathon being run outside the morning of the wedding and they were onto of that as well. Made sure that we had parking at the venue and were able to come and go despite the road to the venue being shut down for most of the morning. Would highly recommend. Reviewed on 20-03-2023

We chose to have an outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour, followed by an indoor reception. Because we found The Cotton Mill before our wedding planner, we were so lucky to meet Krista. She is so friendly, helpful, and responsive. She had great suggestions and ideas! Krista gave us a list of vendors who were familiar with the property and it’s unique qualities. She clearly wants every couple to have their dream wedding and will do anything she can to help achieve that goal… Whatever that looks like for you! Everything from the brick to the distressed wood to the abundance of greenery and ivy was stunning, and we were all quickly in agreement that we did not need to look any further for our wedding venue. Not only was the venue itself immediately impressive, but Erin (the venue coordinator) was also wonderful even prior to meeting - we had previously visited another venue where my parents felt rushed and under-informed. Erin quickly made the four of us feel welcome and took all time needed to answer any questions we may have had.Throughout the year and a half of planning our wedding, I was definitely a bride with a lot of questions - Erin always responded quickly and efficiently to my calls and emails, and she helped me to troubleshoot any and all small problems that I encountered along the way (even when they were not directly related to the venue itself). She truly went out of her way to ensure our day was PERFECT. The Mill is beautiful in and of itself, but working with Erin was truly the other half of what made our experience there so wonderful. As for The Cotton Mill as a wedding venue . . . we had wedding guests traveling in from New York, California, Las Vegas, Florida, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Colorado, Arkansas . . . you name it. Every single guest commented on how stunning the Mill was on our wedding day. The combination of brick and ivy in the dye room (despite being late October), the gorgeous courtyard upon arrival, the grounds around back of the venue and the gorgeous unfinished indoor space all come together to create a unique, beautiful space. Amanda Roberts(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-10-2012 The Cotton Mill is an absolutely beautiful venue and so different than the traditional hotel and country club, which is why my husband and I chose to have our wedding there. We got so many compliments on it and it made for a beautiful backdrop for my bridals and our wedding pictures. The venue is truly a blank space, because the Cotton Mill has nothing there. They say they provide tables, chairs, and linens, but what that really means is you give them a guest count, and they rent the items on your behalf. So you end up paying for every chair, table, and tablecloth on top of the rental fee for the venue (at least that's how it was for my wedding). Plus, EVERYTHING else you need for a wedding (down to salt and pepper shakers) has to be rented and brought in. It ended up being a lot more work and planning than I expected, but the end result was worth it. The only truly negative thing I have to say about the Cotton Mill is that on the day of the wedding, our family discovered while setting up, that there are wasps EVERYWHERE. There were dozens of nests in the rafters around the dye room and outside the building where we took pictures prewedding. Luckily nobody was stung, but I'm kind of surprised they haven't done something about that... All in all, I was happy with the venue, and if I had to do my wedding again, I'd still choose the Cotton Mill. Reviewed on 16-11-2012

We got married in a church, but had the reception at the Cotton Mill. Darla, the manager was great! The \"wedding planner\" named Tina.. was not so great. At first she is extremely friendly and convinces you to pay her on the side to be the \"wedding planner\" and that she has a ton of cheap vendors.. this is not true. My husband and I feel like we were cheated out of a lot of money. It is a gorgeous place and so unique and we are happy with our decision to have the reception there.. but the management there is horrible and extremely unprofessional. We were told that the reception would be $5,000 for about 150 people.. that price SKYROCKETED due to more tables and more seats. The do not have a fridge, kitchen, ice maker or any other form of running water other than the bathroom or the garden hose outside. Those are very important factors to a wedding.. They need to update the Cotton Mill and get a new owner. I was extremely disappointed in how unprofessional and sloppy they were with paperwork/contracts and how unresponsive they were to emails concerning our special day. It's just a money pit unfortunately. It is a truly beautiful venue and very spacious if you are having a lot of guests like we did. Reviewed on 25-07-2012

They have selected vendors they work with but have a wide variety so you won't have issues with that. They provide tables and chairs at additional costs but it is worth it to not have to hire another vendor. This place books quickly-sometimes a year in advance so contact quickly. Parking is an issue and not in the best part of town but they have security on staff so no worries there.
