Enchanting Historic Venue for Wedding Celebrations
The Mill at Fine Creek is a reception wedding venue located in Powhatan, VA. This property successfully combines rustic charm with modern comforts to create a truly splendid setting. Boasting interior and exterior event spaces, it has many attractive features which make it appropriate for hosting wedding celebrations.
The area that surrounds The Mill at Fine Creek began to flourish as far back as the early 18th century. A gristmill became the foundation for a community to develop, while the nearby James River and railroad both served as local landmarks. The Fine Creek Manor is one of the most important historic elements of this location as it is said to have been built in around 1730 before it was obliterated by a fire almost 200 years later. The Mill at Fine Creek pays homage to this past by keeping much of the remnants untouched. Today, couples gather at this location brimming with rich history and past events to join in matrimony among beautiful and charming surroundings.
No matter which part of The Mill at Fine Creek you explore, you are sure to be greeted with a cozy ambiance and subtle sophistication. The grounds exude a silent history that harks back to its origins. The old walls covered in ivy, the pebbled paths, and the tall trees create a fresh and natural allure. Inside, the decor is defined by color schemes of cream, light pink, and earthy tones. Bright, well-lit, and sizeable, your nearest and dearest can gather here for an unforgettable celebration. Inside and out, photo opportunities can be arranged to the front of the property, by the river, or around the rest of the grounds.
Boasting 6,500 square feet of event space, The Mill at Fine Creek can accommodate gatherings of approximately 225 guests. For the pre-ceremony, the wedding suite and Miller’s Cottage offer seclusion for applying makeup, trying on outfits, and relaxing before the walk up the aisle. A trio of outdoor spaces are available to host the all-important ceremony, while a sheltered option inside can be availed of when the weather is being temperamental. For the reception, 150 guests can enjoy a sit-down meal in the dining area. Here, chiavari chairs are arranged at round tables and three large farm tables, and the rest of the room can be suitably adorned with linens and colorful arrangements. The onsite culinary team can create customized menus, seasoned with fresh produce to tame appetites and treat palates. Afterward, the wedding party can make their way towards the bar. As the evening draws nearer, everyone can drift towards the outdoor deck and onto the dance floor as the revelry continues.

Tiffany Ray(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-04-2023 From the day we visited The Mill at Fine Creek, we received nothing but professionalism, attentiveness, and good vibes. I knew immediately that we would be married at the Mill. Lisa and Beth were instrumental in delivering the wedding of our dreams. We are still receiving compliments about the beauty of the venue, the deliciousness of the food, and the graciousness of the staff. The cherries on top were the adjacent cottages (where our families stayed) and the brewery where we held our Rehearsal Dinner. Just perfect! Reviewed on 26-05-2023

David Jeffery(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-07-2022 My husband and I are so grateful to have chosen The Mill at Fine Creek for our wedding ceremony and reception. We looked at a number of places in and around Richmond but nothing matched The Mill's beauty nor the warmth and hospitality of Lisa (owner and proprietor) and Kim (day-of coordinator). Throughout the entire process, they were genuinely thrilled and excited to make sure our big day was spectacular. The venue itself may be beautiful, but they truly make it special. They communicated with us every step of the way, fielded our never ending questions, and made every change or updated that we needed. During the ceremony itself, Kim was seemingly everywhere, handling everything. She directed us through the whole day and we both felt that she is as necessary as an appendage. If Olivia Pope was a wedding coordinator, she would have learned her job from Kim!A huge kudos to the food and beverage team. Our dinner was over-the-top good. We went with an upscale southern theme - think fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, brisket with a blackberry bourbon sauce (the star of the show!), and chicken and waffles. We received nothing but praise from our guests about the food. They were all delighted! On top of that, the cake was outstanding! We went with their almond cake with whipped almond custard and raspberry preserves. It was so good our guests took most of their second servings with them back to the hotel. Pierre the pastry chef did a phenomenal job!Overall, we could not have been more pleased with The Mill at Fine Creek. I urge anyone considering them to go for the Day of Wedding Coordinator. If you're needing help deciding if The Mill is the right choice, here are some some things that helped us pick them: - Most outdoor venues don't have a plan b for rain (they will make you buy tents just-in-case), but The Mill does. We really appreciated that a lot and it made us feel more secure choosing an outdoor venue.- The Mill has 3 outdoor spots where you can get married: the creek, the pergola (where we got married) and in the mill ruins. No matter where you choose, the entire venue and all of the grounds are yours that day.- You have full use of the Miller's Cottage which is attached to the main house. This was super convenient for us and our party. There was so much space to get ready, take pictures, relax, eat and drink. Reviewed on 29-07-2022
Veronica Jones(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-05-2022 Love, love, LOVE this venue. My husband and I had our rehearsal dinner, wedding ceremony, and reception at the Mill at the end of May. All communication and planning was timely and effortless, with each person (including Lisa, Kim, Pierre, Bryan, and others) taking care to make our day exactly how we envisioned it. We received endless compliments from our guests on the food (apps, dinner, and cake made by the Mill), as well as how gorgeous the whole venue is. Our wedding party stayed two nights in the cottages on site, which are equally cute and perfect. This made the whole weekend for our family and wedding party so much more relaxed and enjoyable, not having to worry about driving and being able to spend more quality time with each other. Connor Brogan(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 18-02-2022 We held our 80-person wedding at The Mill at Fine Creek in mid-February. The staff at the Mill clearly worked hard to make sure our day was special. They provided us heaters so we could have a cozy outdoor ceremony in their ruined mill, in the middle of the winter! We had guests from Belize in our party and even they said the ceremony was comfortable! As we were getting ready for the wedding, the mill staff were very polite and kind. They served excellent food and drinks to the groomsmen and bridesmaid as everyone got ready. And the venue was so beautiful! I cannot understate how many guests we had compliment the Mill. The ruins were spotless when we got there and it was very easy to set-up our DJ equipment and flowers for the ceremony. The banquet hall was also extremely easy to prepare as the Mill staff helped with our linens and tables numbers, which really helped our day go smoothly. We did not have a day of coordinator, and we still had plenty of time to decorate and get set-up (and we are not the most organized of people). And finally, the food and drink were excellent. The catering staff prepared this fantastic cheesy spinach-mushroom crepes that we are still getting compliments for nearly a week later! The pre-dinner soup and vegetable sides were also amazing. I know our guests certainly liked them! Plus, the cake was awesome. The Mill’s pastry chef prepared a banana-chocolate-rum cake for us and an almond-amaretto sheet cake. Both desserts were a HUGE hit. We had ordered 1.5x the amount of cake we needed but you could barely tell based on our leftovers! The bar stocked high-quality bottles of booze (like Tito’s and Makers Mark) available for our guests, which was greatly appreciated. They made an excellent cinnamon-rosemary old fashioned as one of our signature cocktails that I personally thought was absolutely delicious. Their craft beer was also excellent and received high praise from all our Richmond beer-snob guests.I suppose our one gripe is that communication with the Mill can be a little difficult at times. They respond to emails when they are in the office (only a few days a week), but you will often get replies that just aren’t detailed enough to be helpful. Our conversations over the phone and in-person were significantly more useful in moving the ball forward. So, if you are considering the Mill, be ready to make some calls. We may be an exception, as we postponed our wedding by a full year (the Mill was very accommodating and didn’t charge us a penny for postponing). One other note, the food tastings at the Mill are a little different from what we expected. We had anticipated that we would send them a few entrée ideas and they’d prepare us small samples to try. It was our understanding this was how other venues handled it. However, the Mill instead hosted some 60 clients one day and gave us a few entrées and appetizers that they had prepared independent of each clients’ preferences. The food was good and showed the skill of the chef, but it wasn’t particularly useful for us. I don’t eat seafood and would certainly not want it served at my wedding. But, about 75% of the food on the tasting “menu” was seafood based. I was a little disappointed we weren’t able to try our entrees in advance, and my wife actually ended up not liking one of the main entrees we served at our wedding (which could have been avoided through an individual tasting). All-in-all, though, we believe the Mill exceeded our expectations. Reviewed on 26-02-2022

Virginia Cummings(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-11-2021 Pierre, the pastry chef, made our custom cheesecake and brownies, as well as some pastries to eat while the girls got ready. Extremely helpful with ideas and communicated with us the entire time. The pastries were amazing and there was not a crumb left! The cooking team was also very quick to respond and help us plan a Thanksgiving feast for our wedding dinner. We changed the menu several times and they were also quick to respond, suggest other changes, and give us updated cost points. We booked the venue about a year before the wedding and decided to pay the extra $700 for the day of coordination help so that we could fully relax and know that things were happening as they should, this did not happen. First, we had several meetings with our coordinator canceled after we had taken time off from work, or waited for our meeting for almost an hour. Then when we walked into the rehearsal, the night before the wedding, we were informed that she would not be there and another coordinator would be taking over. Not a problem if the new coordinator had any of the information that we had put together for a year. We had to go over everything again and rushed since everyone was standing there for a rehearsal that we only had 45 minutes for. We went over everything from the lineup and parents names to the vendors that we had coming, all of which should have been provided before the night before our wedding. It was awkward trying to explain that my parents are divorced and need to be separated, all while my family are standing right there. We ended up losing half of the time we had paid for with a string ensemble because no one knew where they were supposed to play and they had to be moved several times. This was an important aspect of the wedding for me and they were not able to play while guests were arriving because no one knew where they were supposed to go, which was decided almost a year ago with the original coordinator. Overall, The Mill at Fine Creek is beautiful and the staff is very friendly; however, for an establishment that has been doing weddings for years, they are unorganized, which makes for a stressful wedding day. From our very first visit, we knew that we had to get married at The Mill. The natural beauty and unique ceremony sites immediately captured our interest, and the ease of planning the staff provides at The Mill sealed the deal. The Mill made wedding planning wonderfully easy by providing in-house catering and alcohol services (even the cake!), tables/chairs, linens, service, etc., even down to candles and votives for the tables. They specialize in weddings and it shows. The food and cake was delicious and the wedding day experience was unbelievably wonderful. Our family and friends loved being able to stay at the cottages on site- it made the whole experience feel so much more intimate and special. All our guests raved about what a wonderful wedding experience it was, and we even have multiple friends looking to get married at The Mill themselves! Kate H(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-10-2021 We cannot thank the Mill at Fine Creek team enough for all that they did for us to make our dreams come true for our wedding day. I don’t even know where to begin! The venue itself is beautiful - our guests can't stop complementing it. We loved all the natural colors and stuck with a relatively neutral palette for flowers to not detract from all the natural beauty of the venue. One of the things that drew us to the Mill besides the beautiful venue was that they did so much on-site which really simplified vendor coordination - they provided the catering, have a pastry chef, they had the tables, linens, decor and table numbers if you wanted them, and in-house coordinating (among other things). The food at the Mill was fantastic. One thing we really loved about the Mill was that we sat down with Lisa (the owner) and crafted our menu from scratch - they provided a list of things they had done in the past (and at the tasting we got to see the high caliber of their kitchen for a variety of different foods), but when it came time to create the menu, Lisa wanted to know what our vision was outside of the list and we liked to eat. From there, she helped us brainstorm ideas and create complete meals based on our vision. When she had an idea for a flavor that could complement our proteins, multiple times she ran into the kitchen to grab us samples to make sure we had the perfect pairings. It was amazing and the menu creation process was so much fun and made us so excited for all of our dishes - which all of the guests raved about on the day! For our dessert, in lieu of cake, we wanted something to do with ice cream and ended up with homemade cookie ice cream sandwiches and they were a huge hit! Lisa and her team were happy to help us find a way to make ice cream work and she brought us in to sample a variety of different ice cream sandwiches (one of our favorite on-site meetings for sure). We met with our coordinator, Kim, a couple of times to discuss our plans, build out the day-of timeline, select linens and table numbers, and to go through any questions we had. Kim was always happy to answer any (of the many) questions we had; she always provided great insights and recommendations on what typically works well and what doesn’t, and helped us coordinate the vendors in the week leading up to the wedding. On the day of the wedding, Kim was everywhere and on top of everything - orchestrating everything behind the scenes, she made everything go so smoothly and made it so that we did not have to worry about anything but enjoying ourselves on our wedding day. We are so grateful for all that she did for us. Thank you so much! Reviewed on 16-11-2021

When choosing a venue, one of our greatest priorities was finding a place that would enable us to have our wedding that didn't feel like a \"cookie-cutter\" experience. Between the multiple ceremony sites, the highly customizable menu, their in-house pastry chef, and how flexible they were with flowers, decorations, day-of timeline, etc, we were truly able to design a wedding that was unique to us. The food was incredible, from appetizers to entrees to the cake! They are very receptive to food suggestions and seemed prepared to make anything. The star dish at our wedding was a Spanish paella that everyone loved! Pierre, the in-house pastry chef, designed a beautiful wedding cake that he detailed with edible cherry blossoms. The venue really is a one stop shop for all your wedding needs. They have a private cottage for the bride and groom to stay in overnight as well as a limited number of other cottages onsite for guests to stay in too. They provide table linens (of all different colors and styles to choose from) and have multiple table setting options (table numbers, votives, etc), and easels. At a cheap cost, they will provide lunch and drinks for the wedding parties as they are getting ready. They also have a bubble machine for the bride and groom exit. The overall service from the venue was outstanding. Lisa, Kim, and Melissa made the planning process enjoyable and very easy. We were originally supposed to get married at an earlier date and ended up postponing so that more of our guests would be able to attend. Throughout the entire process of working with The Mill, they were so accommodating to all of our wants and needs. Rachel Bickford(bridesmaid)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-03-2021 Whoever does the scheduling needs some wedding etiquette 101 training. We were told that only a certain number of people were allowed in the building and on the grounds due to COVID, so my friend (the bride) pivoted her plans. The day of, we were told that there was nothing else scheduled and we had the grounds to ourselves, but there were constantly other groups of people coming in for tours and planning meetings. As we got closer to the ceremony time, a large group of people showed up for their rehearsal for the next day. It would have been fine if it were earlier in the day while we were getting ready, but we had guests starting to arrive before the other group left the ceremony site. You would think that, as a wedding venue, they would know that people arrive earlier than the scheduled ceremony time and not schedule things so closely together. It took away from my friend’s special day, which was entirely unfair to her. The number of people in the building and on the grounds definitely exceeded the number we were originally told, which was just incredibly unprofessional that we were told what were clearly lies. Not to mention, the grounds were not kept well. One person even said that the courtyard looked more like a graveyard. It’s sad because this venue has so much potential, but there needs to be some reevaluation of priorities, and definitely more professionalism and keeping their word. Reviewed on 28-03-2021

Over the course of this year I gave up a lot of what I had envisioned for my wedding and had some heartache and peace-making in the process. It was a long lesson in finding grace and finding joy during so much disappointment and uncertainty. Two things proved to be a saving decision for my wedding during a pandemic: the amazing man I got wedded to and selecting the Mill at Fine Creek for our ceremony and reception venue.I got engaged in February and had most of my major decisions made before March. I was lucky in that my fiancé and I had chosen the Mill at Fine Creek right before everything shut down. I will be honest and tell you that The Mill was the only place we visited in-person, but that is a testament to its allure and beauty. We came, we saw, we were awed - it immediately spoke to us. The wild beauty of the surrounding creek, forest, and the whimsical variations of outdoor ceremony options met and even exceeded every vision we had. What’s more, choosing The Mill made things easier for our families because we were able to rent out all of the cottages.Let me just say that the staff were exceptional as well. I had to cut the guest list not once, but twice. This impacted the menu, catering, the ceremony, the seating layout, among other things. The owner, Lisa, met me where I was and served as a voice of reason and assurance: if we still wanted to get married, they would help make it happen. She and her wonderful staff worked with me and my now husband to make sure that we had a beautiful wedding despite the restrictions, challenges, and circumstances outside of our control. For example, one wrench thrown into the mix was that the governor of Virginia issued a restriction on gatherings one week before our wedding reducing it to 25. The Mill talked with us and we worked out a plan, adjusted the menu, and moved forward.Day of the wedding, everything went so smoothly. The food was delicious, they had ordered French wine we had wanted, and they even allowed for a cash bar for those who wanted specialty scotch we were able to order. They were accommodating, patient, and kind. I was comforted because I did not have to worry about anything when it came to the Mill. I would highly recommend them for your wedding and ceremony. So many things are included with this vendor that helps take a lot off the bride & grooms plate (chairs, tables, linens, dishes, table signs, votives). They work with food allergies, which was extremely important to us. Their pastry chief made our wedding cake, as well as a surprise groom's cake for our rehearsal dinner. No one could tell they were gluten free! We added on the day of coordinator which helped things go super smooth! As the bride, i didn't worry about any details on my big day. My parents, fiancé, and I immediately chose this place upon first look despite having two additional appointments that day. The nature and creek are breathtaking, even during the winter months. The staff is so accommodating and friendly (Kendall is my fav!). Lisa, the chef, is so talented and is one of the most unique chefs you will ever encounter....she will truly make your menu one of a kind! The seared scallops are to die for, and you will be more than thrilled with braised pork as a main dish! My day of coordinator, Colleen, was very kind and had a great, bubbly personality. I would only suggest that the venue keeps in better contact with their clients during the planning process, as I wasn't aware we were supposed to have had an \"initial meeting\" before meeting with the chef. Regardless of that they were always responsive to any emails and calls if I did have any questions. Colleen, especially, was so patient with me and all of my constant inquiries! The last thing was that, on my wedding day, they neglected to bring out the groom for the processional...so they brought out the bridal party, and opened the doors for me yet he was not even up there, so I had to stand for what felt like an awkward eternity and wait for them to finally bring him out. That was very unprofessional and disappointing, as the processional is the most anticipated moment that I looked forward to the most. I dont even want to watch my wedding video as a result, as I feel that big moment was really taken away. That moment, luckily, was quickly forgotten after the fact, and the good about this venue still overweighs the bad and I truly enjoyed getting married here. Reviewed on 23-03-2020

First, the location and grounds...one of our top priorities was having a somewhat secluded and private location for our wedding. The mill delivered as you have private use of the grounds and there are no other weddings on your day. It was great that our guests were able to explore around during our wedding and we didn’t feel cramped or constrained to one room at the reception. We also really wanted for our ceremony to be outside and the ceremony options at the mill are to die for. The new pergola area is gorgeous and we made a change from our original plan to get married by the creek. The set up at the mill also makes your wedding day a breeze. We didn’t have to worry about shuttling people from place to place for hair/makeup, pictures, etc. Everything happened all at one place. This also made the end of the night and clean up so much easier. The staff had taken our extra cake to the Miller’s Cottage and we had all our items moved out in 5 minutes tops. They were organized, efficient, and an absolute pleasure to work with. The people. I probably can’t say enough about the people. Everyone at the Mill was so amazing to work with. From the initial meeting to the menu and details, Colleen and the team were easy to work with and responsive for every detail. I was planning the wedding from Memphis so having someone flexible to meeting times and email made my life so much easier. I would highly recommend hiring the day-of-coordination from the Mill. I didn’t have to worry about a thing on our wedding day. Colleen was phenomenal and took care of every detail - and even seamlessly dealt with all my questions and last minute freak outs. The Food. Better than we had even imagined. The food was great at our tasting but even better at our wedding. If you want an amazing wedding dinner, go to the Mill. They are so flexible to orchestrate your menu however you would like. I’m a side dish queen - so it was important to me that we had great side dishes - and the mashed potatoes at our wedding were the best I’ve had in my life. We got married in October of 2018 and could not have asked for a better wedding. If you are considering having your wedding at the Mill but haven't visited yet, one visit will decide for you. My husband researched venues all over Virginia and DC, but we both knew right away when we visited the Mill that it was right for us. It is a beautiful place and the pictures hardly do it justice. The entire experience of preparing for our wedding with the Mill was seamless. Throughout the planning process the staff at the Mill was incredibly helpful, guiding us through the process and reminding us of things we hadn't even thought of. \tOne of the biggest reasons we chose to have our wedding at the Mill initially was the flexibility we could have with our menu. Lisa is so easy to work with and is so creative in the kitchen. She made it so easy for us to choose our menu. The food was phenomenal! We loved every single dish, and Lisa even suggested a fun mid-dinner drink with champagne and sorbet that matched perfectly with our signature cocktail. The word I would use to describe our wedding day is again \"seamless.\" You have access to the site pretty much all day, which gave us plenty of time to not feel rushed as we got everything set up. Throughout the morning and afternoon, the staff was available to help us with anything we needed. Special thanks to Hannah for being available and making us feel so welcome.I would highly recommend spending the marginal extra amount to work with one of the Mill's day-of-coordinators. Colleen was our day-of-coordinator and was nothing short of amazing. Every time I turned around, Colleen was ready for the next step of the night. From the start of the wedding on, I never stressed about what was coming next because Colleen was always organized and ready. We loved having the beautiful cottages right next to the venue as well. Family and friends were able to stay there and simply walk back to their rooms after the wedding festivities. The brewery has some great food and we had a lot of fun with family and friends hanging out there the night before our wedding. Our entire wedding experience was perfect. We couldn’t be happier and I am so glad we chose The Mill at Fine Creek!P.S. We are a same-sex couple, and the Mill treated us with the utmost respect and made us feel completely comfortable. From the minute we stepped foot onto the grounds, we fell in love and knew we had to get married in the ruins, even though there are three gorgeous spots to say “I do” on this property. The cottages are beyond adorable and my bridesmaids and I being within walking distance to the venue made it so much more relaxed. We enjoyed our complimentary picnic’d breakfast from the gift shop by the creek the morning of my wedding and it was just so magical. There is so much love in the air here.I can’t say enough great things about the staff. They so care about all the invidual details that go into making your day PERFECT. I was emailing them silly little questions a year out from the wedding and they would respond as if my wedding was the next day - so quickly, never annoyed. Lisa, the fabulous owner, worked with us on the menu and came up with additional little details that really brought everything together that we wouldn’t have ever even thought of. Even the awesome girls in the gift shop will always greet you with a smile and provide excellent service and assistance! I highly recommend hiring one of their Coordinators, as it is well worth the incredible work they do. I felt so secure and confident thanks to Colleen (who is a real life super hero) and her team and couldn’t even have imagined how the day would’ve gone on without her there to help. Not only because it’s CRAZINESS on a wedding day, but because we ended up getting married right before a massive storm. The Mill acted quickly, generators saved us, and extra romantic candle lighting was provided since there was no light pouring in from the windows - only black! 😅 I wish that I could live my wedding day over and over again, because I did not want to leave this fantastic place who gave us the most perfect wedding. Guests traveling from other states made sure to tell me just how special this place was. I’m so proud to say it’s where we were wed. :) Reviewed on 07-09-2018

I had my wedding with them 3 months ago. They did an amazing job at everything. Months before the wedding they would contact us about details and making sure we were on track. The week leading up to the wedding they helped me get our schedule right and walked us through how they were going to transition things. On the day of the wedding it was so easy to just relax because my coordinator, Stephanie, had everything taken care of. She was so good at transitioning through the timeline always making sure that me and my husband were doing good. She kept us informed if something needed changed and already had a game plan for it so we didn’t even have to worry. The venue itself was stunning. We barely even had to decorate because of all of the natural beauty there. I would recommend this venue to anyone in the Richmond area because it is such an escape. You get the whole property to yourself ensuring privacy and also they had cottages on site where guests could stay if they didn’t want to go to a hotel. We held our rehearsal dinner at the Miller's cottage and it was perfect for our small group. Afterwards, we stayed at the cottages, which were loved by our family and friends. They really enjoyed Fine Creek Brewing as well. From the start of our wedding day, the onsite staff made sure we had absolutely everything we needed and were up to date with the schedule. I felt completely calm all day knowing that our day-of coordinator had everything under control and was communicating details with our other vendors. Our ceremony was held in the mill ruins and the venue even allowed our dogs to take part. At the reception, our guests could not stop raving about the lovely location and amazing food. Scott Sherman(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-03-2018 The Mill at Fine Creek is a beautiful location to hold the ceremony and reception. The Mill has multiple outdoor locations for a wedding, and we opted to have the ceremony in the old mill ruins. It's just gorgeous and charming. We particularly liked some photos of the mill ruins under the strings of lights. My wife and I fell in love with the site as soon as we arrived the first time. You choose a venue because of the size and location of course, but you also need to feel comfortable with the people there that they can turn your vision into reality. The Mill's team is first rate. The Mill offers a wedding coordinator service, which we highly recommend. We worked primarily with Stephanie and Lisa, the chef/owner. The other wedding coordinator Colleen was also involved in the planning. We found all of them to be friendly, helpful, flexible and accommodating throughout the planning process. When we had a DJ no-show crisis during the day of the wedding, they went way above and beyond to deal with it.The food was excellent during the cocktail hour and dinner. Several guests commented that you don't typically go to weddings expecting great food, but this food was exceptional. We agreed. We also had Pierre design and bake our wedding cake, and that was excellent too.The Millers Cottage is a great place for the groomsmen to hang out during the day and also nice to stay for the night after the wedding so you don't have to drive somewhere. It's really a nice unexpected feature of the property. Try to reserve the guest cottages as well for key family members so they don't have to travel after the wedding too.Overall, we highly recommend the Mill because of the beautiful location, amazing team of people and great food! They must have tremendous generators because nothing stopped at the venue itself!!! Everything went just as planned! Justine Cherochak(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-12-2017 Overall, my husband and I were extremely pleased with using The Mill at Fine Creek for our wedding venue and catering, and would highly recommend them to others. Some of the pros and cons of their service were as follows:Pros: 1) Stephanie and Colleen are absolutely fantastic wedding coordinators. They made the planning process smooth and painless and covered all aspects of our wedding with great detail. 2) The grounds and reception hall are gorgeous and immaculately maintained. Our guests were in awe of the beauty of the stone ruins. 3) It was extremely convenient that so many things were included with the venue fee, including chairs, tables, linens, use of the bridal suite, etc. Everything was to the highest quality, so there was no need to rent anything in lieu of what was already provided. 4) We were very happy with all of their “recommended vendors” for other services that we used on our wedding day, such as our officiant and the hair/makeup team. 5) The contract process was simple – no convoluted legal language and very straight forward. The venue does not have additional hidden costs that they make you aware of only after you book. 6) Food must be purchased through the venue, but this was a complete non-issue because it was amazing! My husband and I created our own menu after attending a tasting a few months prior to our wedding, and everything turned out better than we could have ever expected. Our guests could not stop talking about the food and how great it was. Additionally, they did an excellent job at catering to our guests with food/allergy restrictions. We had a “hybrid” plated/buffet style dinner, and the presentation of the plated salads, along with the buffet line, were well done. 7) Everything that the venue was responsible for went smoothly on our wedding day. The coordinators also helped us organize our outside vendors and made clean-up and removal of our items at the end of the evening a breeze.Cons: 1) Although this is also a good thing, the venue is constantly making changes and updates. When we had originally booked the venue, they used black chiavari chairs with cushions in the reception hall. By the time our wedding arrived, the chair color had since changed to ivory and the seats were no longer cushioned. This ended up not being a big deal, but it caused us to adjust our color scheme and we had to request cushions for specific seats in order to accommodate some of the older folks. 2) There were many items that were included when we booked at this venue, including two iron candelabras. We had planned on using both for ceremony decorations and had purchased expensive floral pieces to be attached to them. It wasn’t until less than two weeks before the wedding that we were informed that one of the candelabras was broken and that it was unable to be fixed prior to our wedding day. Fortunately, our florist was able to re-purpose the second candelabra piece, but we could have saved a significant amount of money on the unneeded flowers if we had known just a little sooner that the one stand was broken. The venue was also able to provide us with large lanterns to bolster the ceremony decorations in lieu of the second candelabra. Reviewed on 31-12-2017

We could not have asked for a better venue for our wedding. Everything and everyone was truly outstanding, from the beginning, through planning, and on the day of the wedding. The staff is attentive, helpful, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. The accommodations, including the cottages, Miller's Cottage, Bridal Suite, and main reception area were more than we could've asked for. The grounds are breathtaking, and unlike any other venue we visited. We're so grateful that we were able to have our wedding here, and recommend it to anyone looking for a venue. Hands down more than we could've ever asked for or imagined. We planned our wedding in just 6 weeks, and the all-inclusive nature of the venue and the help of the staff helped make it possible. Brooke Rekito(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-10-2017 The Mill at Fine Creek is an absolutely breathtaking venue that provides couples everything they could possibly need on their wedding day. We fell in love with the venue the first time we stepped foot on the grounds. The ruins are romantic and the grounds provide a timeless background for all of your pictures. While the food is pricey, it is incredible!! After our wedding, several guests contacted us raving about the food and even shared that they have tried to create the dishes at home. The best part about this venue is that everything you could possibly need is one place. Our guests were able to stay in the beautiful cottages (think Fixer-Upper adorable) and enjoy the brewery while being only steps away from the venue. This was perfect for our heavy drinkers and out-of-town guests. In addition, it was so nice being able to have several rooms to get ready in, while having a vantage point of the reception space. The cottage for the groomsmen is wonderful as well! The on-site coordinating is also extremely helpful. While it is a bit pricey, I did find Colleen to be an invaluable resource the day of the wedding and the weeks leading up to it as well. Even when our officiant fell ill the day before, Colleen graciously stepped-up and made sure our rehearsal went smoothly. She easily navigated tricky family dynamics and eased my anxiety over our extremely humid and rainy weather. The only reason I wouldn't give the Mill 5 stars is because of the cost. While the venue does provide everything you could need, I do think it is overpriced. The food, drink, and coordinating taxes alone may make you swoon. And while I loved getting married in the ruins, the venue fee is a bit too steep in my opinion. That being said, you will NOT find a venue that comes close to the Mill! Reviewed on 21-11-2017
Tara Badawy(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-11-2017 I honestly cannot say enough good things about the Mill. From the first minute we visited, Colleen, Lisa, and Stephanie were 100% on top of everything. They were accommodating and communicative and extremely pleasant and receptive to our ideas and questions. Our guests RAVED about the food and at least 90% of our guests made a point of telling us that it was hands down the best wedding food they had ever had. Not only was everything delicious, it was different from the wedding food norm - Lisa sits down with the bride and groom and hand selects each item and cultivates the menu personally, so it is unique and reflects each couple's personal tastes. Our guests also raved about the location - I don't think anybody had been to the property before and they were blown away with how distinct and beautiful it was. I keep using the word unique because it is honestly the best way to describe the Mill. The property is extremely unique and so different from any other venue I have ever been to. There are tons of cute places for guests to explore and the property makes for great photos. We also lucked out because the cottages on property were ready for our wedding. They were AMAZING - each is super cute and beautiful and so much more special than a hotel. There are only 13, but they range from 1 to 3 bedroom cottages, so there is room for a lot of guests. It was so nice to be able to walk over to the cottages after the wedding and be able to spend some extra time with our friends in such a gorgeous environment. To top it off, breakfast in the morning at the cottages is amazing, all of our guests were blown away. The general store provides adorable picnic baskets filled with delicious breakfast. It was honestly the perfect wedding. The last thing to reiterate and really drive home is how great the service was. Our wedding party was sort of a mess. As our photographer said, it was like he was herding cats, and that is an honest and appropriate description. it would have been easy to be annoyed with us, but the staff remained calm and patient and unruffled by us. They helped keep things on track when they should have gone off the rails on more than a dozen occasions. Colleen was great throughout the planning process and was extremely responsive and helpful. Stephanie was our day of coordinator and was honestly immaculate. She was helpful and upbeat and positive, but also kept everything on track and remained focused and attentive. She was friendly and personable and we really felt like we could not have asked for a better person to help facilitate things on our wedding day. She is genuinely the most amazing wedding coordinator I could have asked for and no independent wedding planner out there could have done even a quarter of as good a job as she did. And Lisa's food alone makes the whole venue worthwhile, but she herself is friendly and open and warm and is the most amazing chef in the world. The entire day was magic and we loved every minute of it. Every detail was planned out and they thought of everything, including making sure we ate and having plates ready for us in the groom's cottage after the wedding. The entire operation is flawless, honestly. Reviewed on 14-11-2017

Jennifer Dryden(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-09-2017 I could not have asked for a better wedding experience. My favorite thing about the Mill is the grounds itself. I would have been happy if everything else was just mediocre. Fortunately the staff went above and beyond to ensure the food and accommodations were perfect as well. The Mill at Fine Creek was the first venue I toured and I fell in love with it right away. The venue itself is beautiful. I love the woodsy vibe and I especially love the rustic look of the ruins. The sound of the creek flowing in the background provides a calming ambiance. Having the whole area to ourselves on our wedding day made our wedding so much more personal. Even driving to the Mill is a pleasant experience, traveling through country roads full of natural beauty. Walking onto the grounds feels like walking into another world. It is a small, wooded oasis that is not too far from civilization. Despite the heavy outdoor vibe, there is a lot of indoor space as well. The reception area is inside and is nicely decorated. There are also cottages available for the bridal parties right next to the reception area along with 11 additional cottages on site for wedding guests to rent. I looked at a couple other venues after touring the Mill but it didn't take me long to circle back. At first I wanted something a little cheaper. Instead I found myself touring a venue I didn't even like that would have cost us double. I think that was what made the sale for me. The staff at the Mill was very helpful and professional. They kept to their promises and did everything they could to make our day as perfect as possible. My friends and family are still raving about the wedding. Their on-site wedding coordinator was professional, organized, friendly, and perfectly suited for the task at hand. She really made things run smoothly and on time, without being pushy. We loved the Miller's Cottage, which was supposed to have been for the groomsmen, but was taken by the bride! :) The groomsmen spent their time at the brand new brewery on site. The site is beautiful and historic, and the indoor reception area held all 175 of our guests perfectly. The ceremony took place in the Ruins, and the rain that was supposed to fall only fell first thing in the morning, and for a few minutes prior to the ceremony. We could not have asked for a better day. The Mill staff also provided us with a list of preferred vendors (cake, dj, etc.) , which helped immensely; they were used to working together, and it was a hand-in-glove relationship. The bride and groom and several of the groomsmen and bridesmaids stayed on site in the cottages (including myself, mother of the bride) and it was convenient, well designed, homey, clean and fun. Breakfast from the General Store, which we carried back to our cottages in the baskets provided, was delicious and convenient. My only, very minor complaint, was not having filled water glasses on the tables at the reception. We had to stand in line at the bar for water. :( Even so, I just can't say enough about how happy we are to have chosen this venue. Reviewed on 17-08-2017

Leah Allbright(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-06-2017 My husband and I recently had our June Wedding at The Mill, although our experience with them started over a year ago when we booked our venue. I had done extensive research in the Washington D.C. and surrounding areas looking for a venue that gave 10+ hours of time at the venue and had the ability to also have an outdoor ceremony, was all-inclusive, and had a certain je ne sais quoi factor. I decided to only tour those places, and The Mill was the first venue we went to. When we toured, there was another wedding upstairs (private access starts at 11am) and I met with one of the coordinators who toured me around the venue. I remember we booked right away because we loved the grounds, the ceremony sites (they will completely turn the inside around for \"Plan D\" rain plan) which was very important to us. We loved that there were cottages on site that my parents and I stayed in the night before the wedding, and several of or wedding guests appreciated the no shuttling! Our guests also took advantage of the new brewery up the street, and it was a great way to keep people and family entertained prior to the wedding itself. The day of the wedding, everything was seamless. I proceeded to the upstairs bridal suite, where there were cookies and mimosas waiting! The boys got ready in the Miller's cottage. The ability to start our day early was crucial for pictures. The coordinators Stephanie and Colleen helped our other vendors (dessert, photo booth, photography, videography) set up and took care of them all day. The coordinators were so amazing, welcoming and directing guests to the ceremony and herding the bridal party. We were thankfully blessed with amazing weather and had the most perfect ceremony! Following, the venue passed out sangria to all our guests and they meandered to cocktail hour and the bar while we took our pictures. My father, who is gluten-free and hard to impress, was approached by multiple staff members with gluten-free options of the passed hors d'oeuvres. Two of our other GF guests reported similar experiences. Not to mention that the food was amazing, even better than what I remember eating at our tasting! Yet perhaps the best review I can give is the fact that our day went by way too fast... we and our guests had so much fun and wanted for nothing. By our send-off we wanted to keep it going! My husband and I retired to the Miller's cottage which is next door to the venue, which was an easy way to put all the decorations from the wedding so you did not need to clean immediately after the ceremony. Then, we opened a bottle of prosecco from the venue. You will not be dissatisfied with The Mill! Everything is first class and done with attention to detail. Thank you, Mill, for giving us the wedding of our dreams! Reviewed on 13-06-2017
Caitlin Myzie(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-04-2017 I have got to say The Mill at Fine Creek is the best venue I could have asked for to have my wedding at. They make sure everything is to how you want it, and they make you feel like family. Every moment of my wedding was incredible. The atmosphere and grounds of the venue helped create my dream wedding. When it came to the food I have to say I wish I could eat it every single day! The staff was very professional, and were ready for everything. I used the onsite coordinator Colleen, and she made me feel relaxed and calm. I knew she had everything under control. I could not have been as happy with my wedding if we had it somewhere else. We loved the venue, and our guests loved the venue too. They are still raving about it a month later. We are so thankful with how the wedding went, and they were a big part of that. Hannah Saeger(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-04-2017 Cannot say enough good things about the Mill and their staff. Everything went flawlessly and they are the height of professionalism. I used many of their \"preferred vendors\" and we had zero issues. The day of went perfectly and we have gotten rave reviews on the food and overall experience. Added bonus that they have multiple ceremony sites and a rainy-day back up plan for minimal stress. We used their day-of coordinator services and they were fantastic. Zero stress, beautiful day, great wedding! Reviewed on 28-04-2017
