The Mission Theatre's chandeliers, rich wallpapers, and brilliantly polished concrete floors will charm and captivate your guests. Keeping some of its original 1930s character, while also bringing in some modern touches makes the Theatre a uniquely timeless space for your wedding. Your grand entrance as newlyweds from the Main Ballroom's grand staircase will be reminisced about for years to come. We pay close attention to the details. My winter wedding was a dream come true! Getting married at the same place my dad and his siblings went to see movies when they were kids was special to me. Gorgeous chandeliers, great bar to service both sides of the front entrance and the main room. Bride and groom suites to hang out and get ready for the big day helped create the perfect touch. Everything went off without a hitch and I wish I could relive this day over and over! Thank you Mission Theatre!!!

Mission Theatre was perfect for our big day!! Sena and her team were amazing! She was always there to answer any questions and was very professional and was prepared for it all. Everything was made crystal clear during our final walk through. The venue was the perfect size for us and the bridal suite was the best place to get ready day of as well. We had our ceremony and reception at Mission Theatre and a room flip was required but it was so smooth and hardly noticeable at all. All of our guests were enjoying their drinks and the room was flipped so quick. The bar service was great as well, everyone was truly just so kind and sweet. The marquee sign was one of my favorite touches too, which we were able to customize for our wedding day. We also did all of our pictures on sight as well, utilizing the marquee sign in our photos and the cute alleyway off to the side for our first look. I loved our ceremony on the stage and we placed our sweetheart table on the stage for dinner. Then we were able to celebrate the night away without a worry in the world. Honestly, I have zero complaints. Our wedding day went so smoothly and Mission Theatre and their amazing team was a huge reason why. It was almost scary how stress free our wedding day was. I couldn't recommend this location enough!

Sena was always incredibly kind and helpful throughout the whole planning process. The day of our wedding, Paige and her team were absolutely fabulous! We really enjoyed having our reception at the Mission Theatre! First of all, it this venue is right down the street from our apartment, and we love the coziness of downtown Mission. The best part of this venue is the large bride and groom suites; the bridal suite was big enough for 8 women to have hair and makeup done (4 at a time). The suites also make for a great place to sit down and take a breather during the busy day. We had about 215 guests at our reception, and the theatre felt full but not over crowded. The bridal party was seated on the stage, which gave us a perfect vantage point to look out on the crowd during dinner and take in all of our family and friends. This venue was great for our taste, as it is stylish and elegant, but not overdone.

With all the venues to choose from, this one is truly SO unique, special and affordable! The renovated movie theater is beautiful inside with an ambiance that is different than anywhere else. You truly become the stars of your event for all the world and your guests to see - with the red carpet entrance under the two sided movie marquee and three huge movie poster windows to display whatever special photos you choose to enlarge and put on display. Easy to find and great curb appeal with blocks of renewed streets, sidewalks and parking. The layout and amenities inside are awesome and the venue is impressive before you even begin to decorate. The staff is friendly, professional and wonderful to work with - customizing every detail you request and ensuring it's all in place according to your wishes. We couldn't imagine having our wedding anywhere else, and we are so happy with our choice. For a classic and unique venue with a theme and execution like none other, The Mission Theatre is perfect.

It was beyond elegant with the grand chandeliers, but still had a cozy, smaller vibe at the same time. We were sold on the fact that the whole bridal party could get ready for the day in one location with the large bridal & groomsmen suites. The staff was timely in responses and stayed organized throughout our planning process.

My husband and I fell in love with The Mission Theatre when we first toured, and as movie lovers, an old theatre was the perfect place to host our wedding reception. The theatre has been beautifully renovated on the inside and out. We especially loved our photos in front of the personalizable marquee. Jaime, the venue manager was amazing to work with, checking in along the way and making sure everything was in place for our special day. All the event staff was amazing during our reception and I cannot thank them enough. I highly recommend choosing The Mission Theatre for your wedding day!

They have a great bridal and groomâs suite upstairs that was perfect to get ready in and hang out until the reception started.They are very clear on what all they provide and no secret âextra feesâ. Alexis the venue manager was great to work with. They also handle the bar and have different bar options to fit your budget. The whole venue staff were so friendly. The venue is beautiful on its own and didnât feel the need to âdecorateâ, just had centerpieces on the tables. Very Art Deco and Great Gatsby vibe to it. They also have window boxes for movie posters you can use! Pictures attached. All the wedding guests love the posters and marquee sign!

We delayed our wedding due to Covid and The Mission Theatre worked with us to ensure we got a new date that we were happy with. Alexis was super helpful by answering all of our questions in a timely manner and with being flexible to meet on our schedule. I cannot recommend this venue enough. Seriously go check it out!

Mission Theatre was absolutely breathtaking! Iâm not an emotional person or a cryer, but the sheer elegance and beauty of this venue made me tear up the first time I saw it! The chandeliers offer so much elegance, thereâs not much real need for tons of decorations. Then thereâs the dream-worthy staircase for a bridal entrance made in the movies!! And the bride suite and grooms room were BEYOND! They are spacious, gorgeously decorated/outfitted with all the luxuries, befitting of a king/queen!! And a king/queen is exactly how youâll feel after youâve met the superstar staff of the venue as well!! Our coordinator, Alexis Brewer was nothing short of fabulous!! She was so helpful, communicative and fun to talk to!! I never had any questions go unanswered, no details go unmentioned and never had a worry, knowing that she would be helping to take the reigns on our big day! Plus her fun, bubbly personality made her that much more fun to âdo businessâ with!! I definitely recommend this venue and itâs staff for any couple looking for an unforgettable experience from the first viewing of the space to days after your special day!!! 10/10!

Mission Theatre was the PERFECT venue for our reception. Simply put, itâs beautiful and elegant. Even without the set up. Thatâs when you know youâre going to have an amazing reception. The bridal and grooms suites are FABULOUS. We had so much fun getting ready in the morning! The marquee is also a great touch as well as the ally. We were able to fit all of our guests and they too spoke very highly of Mission Theatre. The bar line went smoothly & DJ booth is set up comfortably. The back drop was a fabulous touch as well with the string lights!!! We were able to meet with Alexis beforehand and had great communication via email, phone and in person. Mission Theatre is reliable and will deliver EXACTLY what you want. Thank you, Mission Theatre. We had a perfect day!

The back drop was a fabulous touch as well with the string lights!!! We were able to meet with Alexis beforehand and had great communication via email, phone and in person. Erin and I just celebrated our wedding here a couple weeks ago and it was amazing. The space is perfect and not just a \"white box\" like so many other places we looked at, really has some great character. The staff was very helpful every step of the way from planning, to seating, bar, DJ, and day of coordination with all the vendors. The only thing that we had to do the day of was show up and have an amazing time. Great if you have little ones running around because of the bride and groom suites upstairs that they can escape to as well. Highly recommend this to anyone looking!

The owners have done a great job converting an old movie theatre building into a beautiful wedding venue with a marquee out front to announce the bride and groomâs special day.

I've had the occasion to attend several events at Mission Theater including weddings, receptions and most recently a fundraising event. The space is beautiful with an elegant lobby and well thought out spaces for members of the bridal party. Additionally, the event space itself is a great size and affords all guests the ability to feel a part of the festivities. The sound system has always been excellent and there's a low-level staging area that provides visual access for attendees. Last night I had the opportunity to help with the event and saw the back of the house which services caterers and other event venders. It was spotless and well organized, providing excellent space and set up for those providing food and supplies. This venue provides an amazing space for a great variety of events and I would highly recommend it!

I want to start by saying the venue is gorgeous! You really don't need much to put your special day together, because it really is beautiful on it's own. Michele was extremely helpful, she was easy to contact and always got back to me right away- which was really comforting towards the end! The rooms to get ready in are a dream, they are just beautiful. The only thing I would say that disappointed me a little is- I was originally showed the space by Julie, she promised us some things that when she left later where not honored. We also felt a bit rushed towards the end to clean up, there was still some time left that we had the space. Our names and posters were taken down outside, I believe during our reception. I just felt they could have left it up over night, or until everyone had left? All in all this is a beautiful space, and our day was wonderful. Michele is wonderful, just tiny things that disappointed me.

This is a gorgeous venue! Wonderful bridal and groom suites that are perfect for getting ready! Awesome chandeliers and fun wallpaper that really creative beautiful environment. We had a little confusion with a change of coordinators and some planning details but I felt the new coordinator really tried to work with us to resolve everything. I think we were just unlucky with the timing of our booking. Our original coordinator who gave us the tour of the facility and explained all the details of the venue to us left a couple months after we signed the contract. She verbally assured us of certain flexible details that were the ultimate reason we decided to go with this venue, but when we followed up with the new coordinator she was unclear whether or not they would honor the previous coordinator's promises. It wasn't until the month of the wedding until we realized they weren't going to honor them, and honestly, without the perks the original coordinator had promised us, we would have gone with a different venue. Even apart from that disappointment, communication as a whole was poor. As an example, they showed us multiple floor plans leading up to the day of the wedding with tables they apparently didn't have. We were told the morning of our wedding that we needed to rent those tables from a separate vendor, which obviously we weren't able to do on such late notice. However, at the end of it all, it's a very beautiful venue and our guests enjoyed the reception very much. Without knowing the backstory, it would've been a great reception.

Our wedding was in June, and it was incredibly HOT inside, more than just heat from a lot of people in one space. We specifically chose an indoor venue so it would be cool for a summer wedding. I know the staff was working hard to help make it better, but it was much cooler outside and it made me feel bad for guests who had to sweat through it.

Our wedding was truly a magical and beautiful day and Mission Theatre played a big role in that. We originally booked with Mission Theatre for our ceremony and reception two years in advance of our wedding. We booked with Alexa who was fantastic and partially part of the reason we booked our wedding there (the beautiful bridal suite helped seal the deal too!). We did have to go through some frustrating transitions with a different staff member after Alexa left. However, things drastically improved once we were able to work with Mike and Regan. They went above and beyond to make up for our negative experience with the previous staff member and did uphold the promises that person made us despite most of the promises being undocumented. They were both incredibly kind and patient and seemed genuinely excited to help make our wedding vision a reality. The venue does require that you use Platinum KC as your DJ service (unless you're using a band). We were originally nervous about this, but it was meant to be, because Platinum KC and our DJ, Doug, were fantastic to work with and also helped make our wedding a dream worthy day. This venue is truly unique, which is something that a lot of our wedding guests complimented us on. For example, we had movie posters created to put in the movie poster frames outside the venue that our guests raved over. People also loved that our names were up on the marquee, which of course also made for fabulous photos. One of the best things about the venue though are the bridal and groom suites. My husband and I didn't want to do a first look, but it was nice to have the peace of mind that he was right next door as we got ready the day of our wedding. The rooms are spacious, gorgeously decorated, and also make for great pictures to help memorialize your big day. Some venues also have restrictions on catering, but Mission Theatre was great to work with and didn't put a lot of restrictions on us. We used RJ's-Bob-Be-Que right down the street for food and Hyvee for our cake so we got monetary breaks on delivery fees and it was reassuring that those vendors were so close to the venue. Overall, this place is fantastic, staff are responsive and genuine, and they'll go above and beyond to make sure that you have the best wedding day you could dream of.

Julie & Mike with Mainstreet Properties are true professionals. Our first contact with the property was through Mike Sullivan. He took us on a tour of the property and had answers for all our questions. He stayed consistent and accommodating throughout the entire process. Julie is the seasoned event host all women rely on as the day gets closer. She had several suggestions on decorations vendors, answered my emails/text messages, and talked through some of the timeline challenges we were facing. The day of the event, she helped our wedding run smoothly and organized the vendors. Honestly, I don't even know what time the food, desert, or KC Pops showed up because Julie took care of it all. I appreciate and recommend everything Julie does on the big day and the months leading up to it.

A dear friend passed away and we were looking for the absolute perfect venue, that she would have approved of, and we found it with the Mission Theatre. It was a stunning venue with everything we needed right down to the open bar, the equipment for our slide show and the set up for our karaoke. Working with Julie, the event coordinator, who was absolutely wonderful and so accommodating and her staff made this sad yet joyous celebration so much easier to do. This is a fabulous venue for any type of event.

Julie and The Mission Theatre are SO great to work with! Julie is super accommodating, friendly, and so fun and helpful! The space is beautiful and has a great open and welcoming feel. She definitely saved the day at our wedding by going to multiple stores to find a sewing kit when my husband ripped his pants! :) We absolutely loved working with everyone at the Mission Theatre, including the fabulous owners. Alexa stayed in contact and kept us updated every step of the way. Her amazing communication skills made this the absolute easiest interaction with any of our vendors throughout the entire wedding planning process. I loved everything about it so much that I wish I could do it all over again! Our guests raved about the newly renovated space and how beautiful and clean it was. If I could give them 10 stars, I would!

We used The Mission Theatre for our wedding reception in November 2017 and absolutely fell in LOVE with it from the moment we walked in. The remodeled venue may not look fancy from the outside but don't be fooled, the interior is STU-NNING. If you are a bride (or groom) reading this Go. See. It. Everything is gorgeous - the wallpaper, the lobby, the chandeliers, the Bridal suite, even the bathrooms are beautiful. The whole space is luxurious and needs minimal decoration. It's a perfect mix of modern and vintage (but mostly modern). And then there's Alexa, the venue manager/coordinator, who is wonderful. Not only was she sweet and accommodating through the planning process, she was a problem solver. Ex - unfortunately, my hair/makeup artist called in sick 20 minutes after she was supposed to arrive and Alexa jumped right in to help problem solve, which is not in her job description but she didn't even blink an eye. She kept me sane and helped me through the biggest hiccup of the day. The only con: the venue had a prep space with large tables, but no kitchen. This was fine for us but I can see where it might not be for certain caterers.My fiance and I loved working with Alexa and the Theatre and would highly recommend it!

I would imagine they could host all kinds of events, but I attended a concert/church service of sorts and it was a fantastic experience. Beautiful ambiance, great sound, and our hosts were lovely and very accommodating. I'd highly recommend The Mission Theatre!

There are lots of ways to decorate the space to make it your own.The space was the perfect size for our daughter's wedding reception of about 175 guests. The bride and groom suites are nice, the staircase and chandeliers are beautiful, but the one thing I really appreciated, which may sound strange, was the bar area; it was nice, but not the focal point.If you are in need of a venue, you should definitely give Alexa a call and check out the Mission Theater. You will be pleasantly surprised. If a few more amenities were provided, such as tablecloths and napkins, or a few more tables; this venue would be even better.

When we told her how much we loved Bruno Mars, she played it during every meeting. She knew us like family by the time our wedding came. I canât think of a better place to host your nuptials. When we told her how much we loved Bruno Mars, she played it during every meeting. She knew us like family by the time our wedding came. I canât think of a better place to host your nuptials. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and your Bridal party with love the beautiful Bride and groom suites!

Mission Theatre is absolutely stunning since the renovation. Once I toured Mission Theatre it was such an easy choice to use them for our reception venue. Nothing else in the KC area compares to the elegance and beauty of this place- from the entry- way and bridal suites to the main room and even the bathrooms! Alexa is lovely to work with she was always cheery and came to let us see the venue as many times as we wanted and even let us come practice our dance in the space the day before the wedding. She answered all our phone calls and emails no matter how many times we asked her the same thing. We did have some miscommunications with the how many tables and chairs they actual had and had to revisit that many times because we were very confused. I believe they ended up supplying us with 200 chiavari chairs and 20 tables. My only 2 big complaints with Mission Theatre would be there is no lighting on the stage area..so if you don't get extra uplighting back there it would have been very dark and hard to see. The other issue is is that even though they completely renovated the space they really don't have a kitchen. They only have a prep space in the back ( just tables - no ovens or refrigerators). There isn't even a water line so our caterers had to bring in gallons and gallons of water to serve so that they weren't constantly running back and forth to the bar. Despite these two issues we had a beautiful wedding at Mission Theatre and we couldn't have picked a better venue to celebrate in!

This place is top notch! So glamorous and impeccably remodeled. The new owners are so nice and spared no expense when updated the entire place. I've been there for several events and it's always been super clean and well decorated. The staff was friendly and very helpful. There are plenty of restrooms and the suites for the bride and groom to get ready in are really, really nice. You can easily accommodate both the ceremony and reception in one space OR just host a big ole party there. Our guests loved the double sided bar. Definitely use their preferred vendors list and in house DJ and Bar Service, makes life easy!

We got married on 9/2/2017 at Mission Theatre - both ceremony and reception for 185 guests- and it was AMAZING! We attended an open house and fell in love with the space. I loved the chandeliers in the main room, the wall paper throughout, and the bridal / groom suites upstairs. Overall, it feels very glamorous. One cool perk, from a small window in the bridal suite, I was able to watch everyone gather before the ceremony and watch the people walk down the aisle before I came down from the bridal suite upstairs. Alexa was our point of contact, she was friendly and organized, making the whole process super smooth and enjoyable. We used several of the recommended vendors, and I'm glad we did.

Our church had an event at the Mission Theatre last April. I can't say enough good things about the team, our experience and the space itself. They've done a fantastic job restoring a historic building in downtown Mission. It's a perfect space for weddings, parties, or (in our case) a special service for our church.

Derrick is great and can answer any of your questions! Ben the DJ was perfect and kept the night going smoothly! Everyone was helpful and couldn't beat the price! Very little decoration needed on your own besides table center pieces. Lighting is great and is about all inclusive as a reception site as can get. They do offer wedding services also but we did not use that option.

We recently had our ceremony and reception at Mission Theater and everything was WONDERFUL!! We worked very closely with Derrick Braxon who made sure that all my needs were meet (as did his complete staff). They made our day incredible. Everyone raved about how beautiful everything turned out and that would not have been possible without the help of Derrick. Derrick is also very easy to get a hold of and responds to email immediately which is so helpful when you are trying to get everything planned for your big day. I loved everything about this venue and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to plan a wedding on a budget.

When I was looking for a venue to have my wedding reception I feel in love with the idea of having it at a movie theatre. My fiancé and I had our first date at the movies and we are both movie buffs. When I showed him the pictures of Mission Theatre he was determined to have our reception there. We read a lot of reviews on The Mission Theatre (some good, some bad) but we still decided to go forward and I am happy that we did. Ryan was laid back yet still professional. He took our concerns and criticism and made any necessary changes. We got married on the hottest day in July (107 degrees without the heat index) and the venue was kept at a good temperature. I honestly felt that I got my money's worth at the venue. His staff (though some are a little rough around the edges in appearance) was extremely helpful and fulfilled the needs we had on our wedding day. I am so happy that this venue was flexible with my needs as a bride prior to the wedding. Ryan honestly made my husband and I feel special on our day. \rNow for areas I would improve. I wish there was a separate space for the men to hang out. The area that was indicated (the Surf Bar) was not cool enough for them to be in there, so they were upstairs in the bridal suite. I do realize that Ryan is doing a renovation, but I wish that area was available. I also feel as though they need new drapes in the room. In pictures that I've seen they are pretty dingy in the photos but not to the naked eye.

We couldn't be any happier that we selected The Mission Theatre as our venue for our wedding and reception. They were tireless in making sure that our wedding went smoothly, and they stepped up to handle all issues so that we would be able to relax and enjoy the festivities. They actually even let our event run over our scheduled time, which was a really special surprise. We would highly recommend this venue to anyone. We were concerned about the DJ being \"included\" and not someone we specifically chose, but they did a tremendous job and the dance floor was going until the early hours of the morning.

For the price, you get a lot -- the whole venue, booze, table linens and a DJ. Although, I recommend bringing in your own DJ as we've heard the Mission Theatre's DJ services aren't the best. We brought in our own and loved it. They've recently made a lot of updates to the theatre including new hardwood floors and tile in the lobby, but it could still use a facelift. Parts of it look a bit dirty and old, but you don't really notice that when it is set up nicely for a wedding reception. Also, it says it can fit up to 300 guests, but putting 300 people in there would be a REALLY tight squeeze. We had 200 at our reception and that was a perfect number. If you're expecting more than 250 people, you should choose a different venue. Overall, I would recommend The Mission Theatre if you're going for a fun, modern and party-like reception. If you want a fancy, traditional reception, this isn't the place for you.

The best thing about The Mission Theatre is the value. Ryan does a great job putting together affordable all-inclusive packages. Five stars for value! You don't have to worry about linens, tables, chairs a bar or even a DJ. The site was under construction the entire week before our wedding, but Ryan made sure it was ready and in good condition for the big day. I heard my sister-in-law had to clean the bathroom because it wasn't very clean, so I gave it 3 stars for quality. Ryan's team worked really hard for us, it just would have been nice to have a few more of them. So I gave service 4 stars. The site itself is very unique. We had a lot of fun with an old movie theatre theme. Ryan is a good DJ and makes it fun for all. But if you have specific music you want him to play, you need to let him know ahead of time.
