The National Hotel Miami Beach Reviews

The singular best wedding decision we made was choosing The National as our wedding venue! I had a vision for a more intimate wedding feel with all of our guests at one long table and the long pool deck made for the most perfect set-up. Ivette helped us through every decision of the planning process and accommodated all of our desires that really allowed the day to feel so unique and special to us. The attention to detail during our wedding weekend from every single staff member at the National was unmatched. Not only for us as the couple but for our guests during the wedding events as well as by the pool/beach over the entire weekend. We have only received raving comments from our guests about the National from the food and drinks to the staff and character of the hotel.I could probably go on for a lot longer but ultimately Ivette and her team handled everything extremely seamlessly, efficiently, and professionally that it allowed my husband and I to be fully present with our guests during our entire stay. As an added bonus, we selected our DJ and florist from the list of recommended vendors by the National and couldn't have been happier with their quality of work! Reviewed on 22-12-2023

This was a dream location for our wedding! My husband and I stay at the hotel every time we visit Miami and when we found out they host weddings, we new it was the perfect venue for us. The process was as much fun planning as it was the day of. We had a beautiful beach ceremony and had the cocktail party and reception within private rooms in the hotel. Everyone LOVED the food which was one of my favorite parts of the day! The cake vendor, Earth and Sugar did a fantastic job, customizing our red velvet cake with vanilla icing and it was absolutely delicious. Eunice, the Senior Sales & Catering Manager helped us with everything as well as Georgia who helped us with so many things the day of. The day was truly all we could dream of and more. Rebecca Lepore(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-04-2023 Dream wedding in every way imaginable! No other venue even comes close to the beauty and elegance of the National Hotel. Ivette, the Director of Sales & Marketing, was a dream to work with!! She made planning from Chicago a breeze and did not let any detail go untouched. From my very first meeting with Ivette all the way through to our post-wedding party, we were treated like royalty. We were greeted in our bridal suite with a fresh fruit bowl, chocolate covered strawberries, variety of pastries, and a bottle of our (my) favorite wine! Anytime we needed something or had a last minute request, Ivette made it happen! Our every want and need was addressed and taken care of seamlessly and professionally. The staff, servers, and bartenders at the National Hotel knew every last detail of the event; all guests were made to feel important throughout their stay and during our event. We also reserved a room block for our guests, which was a great addition! We had our ceremony and reception at the gorgeous Aqua Pool; the pre-existing decor and ambiance of the National Hotel is something you truly cannot find anywhere else in Miami! We also hosted our post-wedding party at the cabanas by the pool; it was a gorgeous ending to such an unforgettable and dreamy wedding day! Our guests absolutely LOVED the menu we hand-selected; the National Hotel has so many fabulous options, and such a wide variety, to choose from. We were able to customize all of the food and beverage menus for our entire wedding weekend; from getting ready with our wedding party all the way through to our late night snacks station on our wedding night. We were able to taste and select from a wide variety of delicious hors d'oeuvres for our cocktail hour, and construct an amazing dinner menu for our guests. Ivette also worked with us to create a signature cocktail and to personalize our wine selections. Ivette knew how important the little details were to me, so before our ceremony we walked through and admired all of the beautiful work that all of the vendors did to bring our vision to life! I cannot imagine my wedding day any other way. If you are looking for the most PERFECT venue to host your wedding, we highly recommend the National Hotel!! 10 out of 5 stars! The National Hotel is a gorgeous venue - privately owned and staffed with passionate, caring, and detail oriented team members - you will NOT find a better venue for a wedding. Ivette and the events team are totally dedicated professionals. They are calming and supportive and will do anything to make your day special. The food is delicious and the staff are so dedicated to your comfort and happiness. We have been coming here for years and we were just LUCKY to be able to share our special day with the National Hotel team. We were driven to tears by the amount of love and care we got from the staff. If you're not getting married at the National Hotel, you're making a mistake. Period. Reviewed on 08-12-2022
Liz Vellojin(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-11-2021 This venue is so special. As a Miami native, we wanted a venue that had character and was different from the typical South Beach generic hotel vibe. This place had all of it. Our photos were phenomenal and the staff was amazingly supportive. Our guests (many of who had never been to Miami) raved about their historical art-deco weekend stay and all agreed that this venue made for the 'best wedding ever\". Big thank you to the staff of this boutique hotel who really cared about us. They made for a wonderful experience with their flexibility and unique food and beverage offerings. The best part was having a covered terrace as Plan B for rain (which it did) and not being forced to use a bad indoor banquet room. This was huge as we planned and hoped for a tropical, outdoor wedding! Reviewed on 15-10-2022

Denise Novack(other)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-01-2022 As Miami natives, we thought we knew all the possible options for hosting our daughter's Saturday night wedding in January, until we saw the pool area at the National Hotel. We knew immediately it was the perfect spot for creating an elegant, classy outdoor wedding with a fun, casual vibe. This is a place where you can be creative and let your imagination go - the backdrop is lush and gorgeous and will \"wow\" even your pickiest guests. This is not a \"cookie cutter\" venue in the best possible way - it is a historic art deco boutique property that is recognized for service. There is an appreciation of maintaining this authentic gem of a hotel from the owners that is reflected in the wonderful service from all the staff, many who are long time employees. It is refreshing to experience the elegance and attitude of a bygone era while not being stuffy. I echo all the other reviews with nothing but praise for Ivette Davalos, Director of Sales and Catering. She is extremely professional, experienced and willing to customize anything to make your own unique vision come to life. We are so appreciative to everyone at the National for making our daughter's wedding so beautiful and special! We could not be happier. Reviewed on 04-02-2022
Brittany Eveleth(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-03-2021 5 Stars are simply NOT enough! Ivette, the Director of Sales/Catering at the National Hotel helped me (the bride) in EVERY single aspect of our Wedding. I'm not a Miami local so I traveled to MIA to visit potential Wedding Venues. I'm also a wedding planner on the side so this review is saying A LOT. Sure, I found beautiful places but absolutely nothing compared to the overall experience I got as soon as I walked into the National Hotel. Ivette personally was there to greet me every time I visited and made sure I was taken care of, like a celebrity would be. The level of her professionalism, work ethic & genuine personality was something unmatched from any other vendor or venue. SHE IS BETTER THAN THE BEST! As soon as you walk into the open concept hotel you will see for yourself how stunning the interior is. A vibe that cannot be copied/faked (it's the real deal). The relaxed classy art deco vibes will tell a story in all of my photos forever - SO bad A$$. We got married in the pool area and added string lights with an outside vendor. The venue was amazing to work with and allowed me to bring my vision to life. Ivette never missed a beat throughout tedious planning and took things off my to-do list to help me as much as she could, she worked directly with all of my vendors so I did not have to. We had a long wedding event filled weekend and Ivette was there for all of them , taking all of my stress away knowing I could trust her making decisions because she spent so much time getting to know me. The Hotel staff worked all week leading up to our wedding to make it the best day ever. We arrived early and I saw so much preparation going into our day, not to mention all the workers knew our names and made sure we were having a great stay. I cannot recommend this venue and Ivette enough. I can't wait to make it an annual trip to visit Ivette at the National Hotel. Reviewed on 26-10-2021
Glenn Schove(other)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-10-2021 Perfect Miami Beach Experience! If you're looking for a beautiful hotel with a unique, but totally Miami atmosphere, this is the place. Our son's wedding took place by the pool, which was a gorgeous backdrop with so many different photo opportunities. The art deco design along with the beautiful landscaping gave our family and friends an experience they will never forget. I loved the fact that there were party areas but also intimate spaces tucked away amidst tropical foliage and gorgeous palm trees. The food and cocktails were amazing too! I just can't say enough about the service and attention that we received. Ivette's professionalism in helping us plan the wedding was superb, especially as we navigated the ups and downs of the pandemic. Also, Luciana was so good at helping our friends/family with their reservations that some of them were calling her by name upon arrival. Hailey Lampa(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-02-2021 Brides everywhere.. where do I start? My husband and I have been married for just over 2 months now. During covid we replanned 3 weddings total. First and second were both for a Cancun wedding at an adults only hotel, until after changing the first date right after we came up to our wedding on February 20th at 3 weeks the CDC changed the guidelines and EVERYONE of our guests canceled because we didn’t know what would happen with jobs, kids, or animals if our guests turned up positive. We were absolutely devastated. At this point as a bride I had almost everything packed and everything for the wedding planned and ready to go. We made the hardest decision and made a very tough phone call to cancel our wedding in Mexico because if there wasn’t guests and a wedding party, we were missing the most important part of our wedding... our friends and family. The next morning I woke up and asked my soon to be husband at that time... what about Miami? We would get married on the beach and I know there wasn’t too many restrictions there. Then came all the phone calls. We literally called everyone we could get our hands on, connections or not. We are both from Vegas and used every connection possible to find our quickly perfect venue. After so many phone calls where we never got a call back or a call that told us they were already booked we landed the best phone call... Ivette at The National Hotel. She was able to answer every question, every detail and the best thing for our guests... they are ADULTS only. Which meant almost all of our guests left their children at home so they could enjoy a weekend alone, which was our original plan for Mexico. Where we come from couples need time together alone and being from the Midwest not many couples take that time. After locking down the same date we started planning. I could never have imagined how easy Ivette made this. She allowed us to check in at anytime and always responded to our emails. She turned a covid nightmare into an absolute dream. All of our guest still thank us to this day, it was the best weekend we could of ever asked for. We had about 60 people at our wedding and using the penthouse was the best option for our wedding, we had so much room during the wedding day and our photos are absolutely amazing. Ladies, take advantage on this secret hotel in Miami. I couldn’t have dreamed that it could of been so perfect, they made all of our stress go away. It was all a dream and I wish we could have done it all over again! The food and drinks all weekend were absolutely perfect but the staff made it so above and beyond. The pool staff was so polite to everyone in our wedding crew. For our wedding we used a very farmhouse look with eucalyptus and while flowers and simple birstro lights. It was the most stunning venue especially with all of their decor at the pool. I’m so grateful so have spoke with Ivette, she was amazing and made all of our dreams come true for our wedding day. It’s the best bohemian venue where it’s only adults. I couldn’t have asked for a better wedding! Ladies, planning a covid wedding isn’t easy, they made it so perfect! Reviewed on 07-05-2021

With that being said, I think our wedding at the National hotel turned out to be even better than we had wished for. The hotel was beautiful, even more pretty than the pictures. The service overall was perfect. Ivette the wedding coordinator was very organized, very easy to communicate with, and thought of details I would have missed otherwise. We worked directly with Ivette from across the country, and she was truly amazing. I absolutely loved her level of professionalism and the fact cares so much about the finer details as I do. She loves her job and you can tell, she is brilliant at it. With regards to the wedding itself, we had an outdoor wedding reception for 120 people and it was nothing short of breathtaking. The hotel and the grounds are absolutely gorgeous. The art deco theme inside and laid back/relaxed feel of the pool area is the perfect location for a wedding. We got married on 5/12/2018. For the food- we were able to custom pick for a Latin feel to our 115 people reception. The food was fantastic! Guests could not stop talking about the Live paella/ and steak with chimichurri. The food was served HOT, there was PLENTY of food, and the staff did a fantastic job of getting people up and avoiding lines!! The Brunch the next day for 60 people was also delicious! People are saying it was their favorite wedding food EVER! The wedding coordinator Ivette was super nice, responsive, professional and easy to work with. She answered all questions/concerns in a timely manner. Unfortunately due to rain we had to move the event inside at the LAST minute- BUT because of the excellence of Ivette and all staff no one knew this was even a back- up plan! All details (and believe me I had a lot!) were moved inside and done perfectly- I would not have changed a thing! The package that the National Hotel has with outside vendors allows you to choose from a variety of linens/ tables and chairs- so you are able to put your own touch to the event! All staff were very professional. Bartenders/ servers all knew about the wedding and made all guests feel important and taken care of during their stay. The upper management was also super involved and helpful. Yaser (The general Manager) went out of his way to make sure everything during our stay was perfect!! Rachel C(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-11-2017 The process of planning our wedding here was a nightmare! Once our original wedding coordinator left everything fell apart. The rest of the staff acted as if they had never planned a wedding before. The lack of communication for MONTHS at a time was horrifying not to mention they double booked one of our event rooms to someone else because they paid more even though our contract was signed a year in advance! The day of the wedding they promised us their \"execellent\" relationship with the hotel next door would prevent the loud music from playing during our ceremony. To my horror, the hotel next door had party music BLASTING the entire ceremony. No one could hear our officiant the entire time and it completely ruined our wedding video as well. The coordinator also ruined the surprise grooms cake for my husband! My husband and father had to set up part of the reception and even then a special firepit/smores station wasn't set up as agreed and we had to do it ourselves during the wedding! We lost at least 1.5 hours of dance time due to the coordinators lack of organization during the switch from cocktails to reception. Oh and don't get me started on the rehearsal day! The coordinator went home sick and left us to fend for ourselves and asked the marketing director to supervise and told us to \"google it\" on how to do a rehearsal! We also did it in a different room, not on the pool deck, so it wasn't at all like it should have been. They over charged us for valet, valet looked like they were literally on crack and it took 45 min - 1 hour for our vendors and guests to get their cars at the end of the event. I'm SOOO glad its over and I never have to deal with these people again. If you value communication, honesty and a stress free process, stay away from this venue at all costs. Reviewed on 02-01-2018
Marjorie Prokosch(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-10-2017 The National Hotel hosted our beach wedding, cocktail hour, and reception last weekend. We booked them 1) because this GORGEOUS venue fit our Great Gatsby theme perfectly, and 2) their wedding package is very inclusive and INCREDIBLY reasonable in price - especially for South Beach. ------------Things did not start out smoothly. We booked in January for an October wedding. February - June were very stressful months because The National changed their catering/event manager twice. Both times I had to contact the hotel directly in order to find out about the staffing changes. Each time, I'd connect with their new event manager for a week or two, and then get ghosted until finding out about the staff change. By July, I was at my wits' end with the staffing uncertainties and it was too late to book another venue....------------Thankfully, Rose Figueroa, their newest event manager reached out to me in July and soothed my frazzled nerves. Rose is FANTASTIC - she's professional, organized, easy to contact, and charming! She has a great eye for planning, and thought of many details I'd have missed. As a result, our wedding day looked like a bridal magazine editorial that you'd favorite on Pinterest. The food, bar, decor, and honeymoon suite were all wonderful, as promised. Rose and her staff were also very accommodating of everyone's needs - even one unruly guest I didn't know about (Sorry, Rose!).------------Overall, this hotel is a gem of a wedding venue. I'm surprised that they aren't getting more good reviews or press. Maybe the past staffing changes have something to do with it? Thanks to Rose and her team, our wedding turned out better than I could have ever imagined. As is, I highly recommend having your wedding at The National! Reviewed on 18-10-2017

Victoria Borchert(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-04-2013 The National Hotel bundles ceremony and reception into one beautiful location, creating a gorgeous backdrop for your wedding photos.\rQuoted total cost of service includes venue, food, and bar costs-- all of which were outstanding. \rThe venue: Reception set-up was at the beautiful poolside and outdoor bar, so guests could enjoy the weather and palm trees. Unfortunately, it was raining for my wedding, but the staff at the hotel was VERY flexible about ensuring that guests could still enjoy the \"outdoors,\" by sitting on the covered patio. We were able to move to the poolside patio after the rain for a little fresh air and dancing. Despite the rain, everything still looked gorgeous.\rThe Food: Also, outstanding. I'm not generally a big fan of buffets, but this buffet was fresh and provided options for all tastes. Guests raved about 2 dishes in particular: the churrasco (sliced fresh on the spot) and the mushroom risotto. \rAlso, another example of great service: while the bride and groom were out taking pictures, guests managed to eat all of the appetizers served at cocktail hour. We were pretty hungry on arrival, so when we asked, staff members ensured that a special appetizer tray was prepared just for the bride & groom! \rThe bar: We ordered the premium liquor package, and we were not disappointed. In addition to providing guests with classics (like delicious mojitos), the hotel made sure to have a supply of my (the bride's) favorite beer, which is a Belgian import that is not traditionally on their list. They even put it on tap in their bar! \rThe National really went above and beyond to ensure that the day was special-- not just for the bride and groom, but also for the guests. I really have no complaints about any of the interractions with hotel staff-- everyone was courteous, attentive, and treated us like ours was the only wedding they had on their schedule (despite being booked every weekend). \rI would highly recommend it for anyone looking to get married on Miami beach.
