The Oaks Reviews
Lauren Moran(other)5 out of 5 Rating
We couldn't recommend The Oaks highly enough. From our first venue visit where we were surprised by delicious homemade brownies and tea, to our overnight stay & tasting where all of our questions were answered, we knew we were in great hands. Every member of the team is so knowledgeable, responsive, caring, and passionate. It was a pleasure working with Lamond to plan all aspects of our special day, Chef Doug to create our rehearsal & reception dinner menus, and Joe to execute our perfect wedding weekend. Our guests were so impressed by the service (truly above & beyond), quality of food & drinks, and the beauty of the venue. We are so happy that we chose The Oaks, and if we could go back, we wouldn't change a thing! Reviewed on 23-10-2023
Jessica Daniels(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-08-2022 We had our wedding here on 8.27.22 and Lamond and her staff were absolutely amazing! She made sure everything was taken care of so I had zero stress the day of the wedding. People were commenting on how perfectly timed everything was and obviously the food because the food is AMAZING!The main thing that sold us on this venue that you book the entire venue and its rooms for the whole weekend! There are 15 rooms total so we had our friends stay in the rooms during our wedding weekend. There is also a huge patio with tons of seating so it was really nice to hang out with them after the wedding and make a weekend out of it! Several people commented on how they are going to recommend the venue or how they wish they had their wedding there. I highly recommend this venue!! Reviewed on 11-09-2022
Morgan Taylor(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-11-2021 The staff at The Oaks were so incredibly nice to work with! There were a few changeovers in who was working with our event but the staff were quick at answering emails and getting all back on the same page. The food was absolutely phenomenal but I wish the cocktail hour food would have been left out a bit longer for guests to continue to snack. We did not get any dessert which was upsetting since so many of our guests loved the dessert bar upgrade. The sparkler sendoff was a great way to end the evening as well! Reviewed on 17-04-2022
Kathleen Leahy(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-11-2021 Perfect place for a wedding! The Oaks was the first and only venue that my husband and I toured. Tucked away on a peaceful cove, it had everything we wanted and so much more. It’s big enough to accommodate our family and friends so that we were able to spend extra time with them, but small enough that the staff could take amazing care of us. Attentive service, delicious food, not to mention the gorgeous views from every spot on the property. We will definitely be back for weekend getaways! Reviewed on 15-11-2021
Allison Ficht(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-10-2021 Upon walking into the door of The Oaks for the first time we knew we had found our dream wedding venue. Missy was so friendly and welcoming from the moment we introduced ourselves for our tour, and we were met with that same warmth during our 22 month planning process. Candi, Missy, and the entire Oaks staff went to stratospheric levels to make our wedding day perfect. We had to postpone our wedding by 5 months due to COVID and Candi was beyond accommodating to change our date and work with us when we experienced some complications due to the Delta variant. As others have said, the food is incredible - all of our guests have continued to rave. They even turned a simple green salad into a talking point after the wedding, it was that good. We added on the raw bar, signature cocktail, late night snack, and sparkler departure, all of which were executed flawlessly (though we felt the raw bar was an extra special touch). While The Oaks has no control over the weather, we had a beautiful October day without a cloud in the sky, and our wedding ceremony between the trees was picture perfect. After our ceremony an attendant met us with glasses of celebratory champagne which made our photos really magical. The bridal cottage is the perfect spot to get ready in - plenty of space with lots of natural light (and the chic decor makes for cute getting ready photos!). There are many unique spaces around the property to take wedding photos in and the view of the water from the ballroom during the reception can’t be beat. Our family and bridal party all stayed at The Oaks over the weekend and gushed about how wonderful the accommodations, food, and staff were. Thank you so much Candi, Missy, Dolores, and everyone else at The Oaks who worked so hard to put on such a fabulous weekend. We have been floating on Cloud 9 since last weekend and can’t wait to return for a weekend trip! Reviewed on 10-10-2021
Madeline Hurtt(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 07-08-2021 I don’t even know where to begin with how wonderful The Oaks and their staff are! To start, we booked a summer 2020 wedding in June 2019- way before COVID was even a thing. Once COVID hit and we realized that our original wedding date was just not going to work, The Oaks was incredibly kind to us and graciously rescheduled everything to this summer. During the unprecedented and uncertain times, they were flexible and accommodating which they honestly didn’t have to be and I think that speaks volumes to the kind of people that they are. As things began to move forward again, The Oaks was with us every step of the way. They suggested amazing vendors, replied to emails within minutes, and accommodated every request. We arrived to The Oaks the Thursday before the wedding with cars stuffed to the brim and as soon as we pulled in The Oaks literally took everything from there. It was completely hassle free. We had a DELICIOUS rehearsal dinner under the dock on Friday. The atmosphere that The Oaks offers is truly unmatched and it felt like we were on a vacation. It was amazing that we were able to have closest family and the bridal party stay with us on-site, they mentioned how it felt like a destination wedding and how relaxing it was and nice to be hanging out all together all weekend. Our wedding day was a DREAM. Candi and Missy literally took care of everything. Our last minute rain plan was perfectly executed and I did not worry about anything knowing that they had everything under control. This venue also has SOO many great options to take pictures, both covered and not covered which is a huge bonus as the weather is something that we can’t control. Our guests RAVED about how delicious all of the food served at the wedding was and how gorgeous the venue and waterfront was. We have had MANY guests tell us that it was easily the best wedding that they had ever been to and we know that is because of The Oaks. I could go on and on but I truly can not recommend this venue enough. THANK YOU Candi, Missy, & the whole Oaks team for EVERYTHING. You made our dream come true. We will forever deeply appreciate you and can’t wait to visit soon! The Oaks will forever hold a very special place in our hearts and I wish we could do it all over again! Every single person involved goes above and beyond to make sure the bride and groom, plus family and friends are well taken care of. The food is phenomenal, service is perfection, atmosphere is incredible. Everything is immaculate. My husband and I and our families cannot thank this venue enough, during a time of unknown and a pandemic they worked endlessly with us to make our entire weekend unforgettable. Tina Brandemarte(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-10-2020 The Oaks does it all! First, let me say that my wedding weekend went off without a hitch. All thanks to the amazing staff at The Oaks who anticipated my every need and coordinated with all my vendors so I was able to be completely hands-off on my wedding day. You do not need a planner if you choose The Oaks. They provide you a list of vendors who they work closely with. This is how I found my florist, who I absolutely loved. I even brought in a few new vendors, all of whom told me that The Oaks staff were welcoming and helpful. The FOOD - they feed you all weekend! They cover your rehearsal dinner, two breakfasts, cocktail hour, reception and desserts - all absolutely delicious. In reflecting with friends and family, we all agree the best part about our wedding at The Oaks was that our families and wedding party were able to stay on-site at the Inn for the whole weekend. Their 14 rooms + private Bridal Cottage are extremely well kept and managed. Candi, Tracey & Missy were all wonderful to work with and provided me the support I needed during planning and on my big day. We are so happy we chose The Oaks! Reviewed on 29-01-2021
Meghan Dail(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-10-2019 What an amazing experience it was having The Oaks host our wedding. The Oaks was the first wedding venue we toured and what an impression it left. At each venue we toured after that, we would ask each other which place do you see us getting married at when you close your eyes – every time the answer was The Oaks. We went back for a second visit and immediately knew it was for us. From the first tour, everyone there made us feeling like family. We knew we wanted a ceremony by the water, but it was also very important for my husband to have a venue that had a backup in case of rain as well as a place for an indoor reception. We hoped we wouldn’t need the backup but unfortunately, a remnant of a tropical storm moved through on our wedding day! We ended up having the ceremony on the large covered dock and it was still perfect. The lights under the dock along with the rain actually made for a very romantic setting. If only the wind had been a little less! Our guests were kept inside until right before the ceremony and none seemed to mind the setting. One of the best parts of The Oaks is having the Inn available to you and your guests that night for lodging. All of my side was coming in from out of town, so we loved having family be able to say with us there that night . We chose a Sunday wedding, so we only had the Inn the Sunday night. If you book a Saturday wedding, you do get both Friday and Saturday nights. A wonderful breakfast buffet is also included the morning after for guests who stayed at the Inn.The highlight of The Oaks has to be the amazing staff. Every single person we dealt with throughout the entire process was wonderful. Tracey is the on-site coordinator who we primarily worked with through the planning process. What an asset to have available at The Oaks! She was amazing and so helpful. Always very quick to reply to any questions we had. Unfortunately, Tracey suffered an injury and was not available for our wedding day. Candi, one of the owners of The Oaks, stepped in for Tracey though and did an amazing job for us. She was a pro! Words can’t express the gratitude we have for everything both Tracey and Candi did to help our wedding day turn out to be exactly what we had envisioned. The staff the day of the wedding were also all top notch. We had to many compliments on the service!Thank you to everyone at The Oaks! Highly recommend!!! Reviewed on 30-10-2019
Alexandra Biggins(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-06-2019 Getting married at The Oaks Waterfront Inn was a dream! This past June 2019, we had our dream wedding at this unforgettable location. From the moment we toured The Oaks with Candi a year earlier, we knew it was special. When you get married here, you get an entire team devoted to making your dream wedding come to life – way beyond the actual wedding weekend. Tracey, The Oaks’ weekend coordinator, walks you through wedding planning and checks in throughout the year. She also did an excellent job fielding questions coming from many different family members as I was too caught up in finishing graduate school to be as on top of planning as I had hoped. She was a huge help. You also receive a free night at The Oaks when you do your tasting! That is helpful to become comfortable with the venue for continued planning purposes. Tracey and the team will transform The Oaks into a retreat for your family and friends for the entire weekend. The best part is having your guests experience the magic of St. Michaels for the weekend - the bridal party relaxing with you at The Oaks and guests exploring the town. The actual wedding day turned out perfectly. The Oaks team works with your vendors, anticipates your needs, and keeps everything moving smoothly. We received many compliments from guests and vendors on how kind and efficient the staff was in addition to how breathtaking the venue was. We opted to add a “signature drink” to our wedding package. The Oaks designed our drink for us and it was AMAZING – maybe the best drink we’ve ever had (strawberry lemonade mojito, fyi). Our guests loved it, as well. We also added the fireworks to our wedding package. They were the highlight of our wedding. They lasted about ten minutes and were truly better than fourth of July fireworks, per our guests. Our only suggestions for your wedding day at The Oaks regard the dessert bar and vendors. Firstly, if you add the dessert bar to your wedding package like we did, we highly suggest having the wait staff circulate the desserts (in addition to displaying them on the dessert table) throughout the party the same way they did with the hors d’oeuvres during cocktail hour. About half of the guests we’ve spoken to post-wedding did not partake in the dessert bar – either because they did not see it because of its location in the back of the room or because they were unable to make their way back there in between dancing. That has been fairly disappointing to discover because of the additional cost per head, and we were so excited for all guests to enjoy it. If the desserts were circulating, I am positive it would be a better strategy. Additionally, if you book with The Oaks, I highly suggest booking with their suggested vendors. It makes such a difference to have vendors who are already familiar with the venue. Overall, The Oaks made our wedding dreams come true. We highly recommend The Oaks for your wedding!! Our only wish is that the whole weekend and wedding day could have lasted longer – we never wanted our dream day to end. Reviewed on 23-09-2019
Katlyn Jennings(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-05-2019 Tracey was so easy to work with and really helped our day come together. It was such a stress-less planning process knowing she would take care of everything day of and would coordinate with all of our vendors. She helped bring my vision to life and I gave her very little direction with some of the decorations and she knew exactly what to do with them and how to add a few extra special touches. The venue is stunning with so many picture opportunities. You can go from rustic barn photos to stunning mansion photos, to quaint garden photos all on the same property. The food was phenomenal. We did the steak and crab cake entree and everyone loved it. They were easily accomodating for special dietary requests. We also used them for our rehearsal dinner location and that was equally as fantastic. Reviewed on 11-06-2019
Carolyn Ring(parent)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-11-2018 The ambiance offered by The Oaks was exceptional and ideal for the bride and groom. Our daughter did not want other couples or the public present at the venue during her weekend. The privacy of The Oaks for the entire bridal party (with rooms, etc.) was great as was the cottage for the bride and groom. Everyone we encountered at The Oaks was accommodating and bent over backwards to insure we remained calm with smooth sailing for the weekend. We provided Tracey, our coordinator at The Oaks with the names of all our vendors (band, baker, florist, photographer, etc) and behind the scene, they collectively delivered an evening to remember. Our guests loved the setting for the outdoor wedding, the cocktail hour and the reception hall. The appetizers and dinner were excellent. We were planning our wedding from across the country, California to be exact, and their accommodations made it so easy for us. We were able to have the whole bridal party stay at the Oaks, utilize the space for our rehearsal dinner, and then have the cottage as a space for my very large (12 girls, 2 moms, & 2 flower girls) bridal party to get ready for the day. The chef is incredible and we kept getting compliments the whole weekend about how great the food was both nights (rehearsal & reception). We initially toured The Oaks in the fall of 2016 and fell in love with the beautiful venue and friendly staff. Throughout the entire planning process, they were all very helpful, quick to answer any questions, and provided so much information and guidance, they made it easy! The tasting was so much fun and the food is incredible, which is something we heard from all of our guests as well! A unique feature of The Oaks is that you get the entire Inn for for the whole weekend. It was so much fun enjoying all of that time with our family and friends instead of limiting it to one night! The wedding day itself was more than I could have dreamed of. From getting ready in the bridal cottage, to taking pictures around the gorgeous grounds, and having SO much fun at the reception- everything was absolutely perfect. Many of our guests told us it was \"the best wedding they had ever been to\" and one said \"the most well orchestrated wedding\" they had ever been to and we obviously agree :). Spectacular!!! This was the perfect venue for our daughter's wedding last weekend! The venue is simply beautiful and is perfect for having an elegant affair. Everyone raved about the food and service. The steak and crab cakes were just delicious and beautifully presented. Tracey and everyone at the Oaks took care of everything, I mean everything! I didn't have to worry about setting anything up at all and was able to enjoy the entire weekend. The service was impeccable. Also, the location is a dream. The quaint Inn looks directly over a calming river with amazing views. We were able to have our ceremony on \"the point\" with a water view background and have our cocktail hour looking over the river which included a stunning boat dock where we were able to have our raw bar! Our coordinator, Tracey, was absolutely amazing. She was so responsive by email, by phone, in person. She was so nice and helpful in the planning process and when we got there on Friday she was outstanding. She ran that entire weekend without a hitch, anything we wanted done she did without hesitation or question. We changed the location of the rehearsal dinner last minute, and she rolled with it. Laura Curlin(wedding party)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-11-2018 We just left a weekend wedding in which the rehearsal dinner and wedding reception were held at The Oaks. The venue absolutely deserves a five star rating in every possible way, both inside and out. The wait staff (servers, etc.) were incredibly friendly and helpful as well. From there I can't speak poorly enough of the female in charge- Tracy. I don't know if she owns the facility, manages it or is in charge of their events but I've never encountered a more non-welcoming, cheap, brusque, ill mannered, foul attituded and lacking in basic social niceties woman. Our entire family (and there were over fifty immediate family members) was beyond appalled as we exchanged our individual encounters having to do Tracy. The most pointedly unforgivable act was committed last night after the bride and groom left to the glow of many sparklers. Our 93 year old Grandmother (the Grandmother of the groom) was standing outside with the aid of her cane and when she asked if she could re-enter the facility to momentarily sit down Tracy told her that she couldn't re-enter until all smoke (from the sparklers- honestly NOT a lot of smoke) cleared. No chair or other form seating was offered. Under no circumstances was that an acceptable sequence of events. If you are considering this location for an event and are not given an alternative option to Tracy's involvement in your event I would highly recommend taking your business elsewhere. Samantha Frazier(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-07-2017 We had a very hard time picking a venue, but when we saw The Oaks we knew it was the one. My husband and I both grew up on the water, and we knew getting married on the waterfront was perfect for us. We also wanted to host a big party and have everything all in one spot. The Oaks fit all of these requirements. The price tag was steep, but it was worth it to have the wedding coordinator, venue, catering, alcohol, and shuttle all together. (when you add things up individually it works out to be about the same… but you are saving yourself the trouble and work). We just got married July 1st and it was amazing. Let me start with Tracey, the wedding coordinator. She was so patient, kind, and always available to answer questions. Tracey was also very organized and kept things running smoothly the day of. The venue itself is beautiful. We loved of the weather backup plans- there was a thunderstorm rolling through right at the time of our wedding, but we didn’t need to be worried because there was a backup plan for every possible situation (and luckily the storm held off until JUST after our photographs ended). The food was delicious (I thought it was even better than the tasting) and there was plenty of alcohol. I was also impressed with their flexibility of food allergies/needs. My husband and I both have Celiac Disease and cannot eat gluten. They actually made our whole meal gluten free, including the crab cake. Everyone raved about the food and how beautiful the venue was. Elle Hameetman(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-07-2017 My new husband and I moved to the Eastern Shore a few years ago and absolutely fell in love with this new area we call home. When we first got engaged, we decided we wanted our friends and families to see why we decided to start our lives together here. So our venue search began! The Oaks was the very first venue we went to see and as we continued our search we felt as though other venues on the Eastern Shore just didn't compare. With most of our guests coming from out of town, it was super important to us that we got to spend as much time with them as possible. The Oaks was the PERFECT venue to meet all of our expectations! You get the Inn and the grounds for the entire weekend. This allowed us to stay with our wedding party and families from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning! Our guests staying at The Oaks got to enjoy the pool, yard games, the back patio, and a beautiful view of the water. Sandy, Candy, Tracey, and the rest of the staff at The Oaks will make sure you have absolutely nothing to worry about or take care of for the entire weekend. As soon as we walked through the doors that Friday, they put us completely at ease and made sure all we had to worry about was enjoying our time there. Tracey was great at communicating in the months and weeks leading up to our wedding weekend, answering any questions or requests that we had. Our guests haven't stopped raving about how beautiful the venue was and the food! The food is absolutely DELICIOUS!! From the rehearsal dinner, to the appetizers, and finally the main course.! The Inn also includes a cottage where all the girls can get ready. Some of my favorite memories leading up to the wedding are the moments my girls and I shared while we were getting makeup and hair done in the cottage. It is literally the cutest! And is big enough to accommodate the bridal party, along with any beauty vendors, photographers, videographers, etc. I could go on and on! Mary Hester(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-06-2017 It is hard to put to words how perfect of a venue the Oaks was for our wedding AND rehearsal dinner! The grounds, ballroom, and the Inn speak for itself; we were able to incorporate nautical, rustic, vintage, and very classic elements in all of our decor without anything seeming out of place! The staff at the Oaks are truly the best and we are so grateful for their courtesy, attention to detail, and shared excitement for our day! They made our wedding and rehearsal dinner so spectacular. They are so experienced and are familiar with all of the local vendors which helped everything run seamlessly. Our DJ, Jason Walsh, was new to the venue but they worked with him (and vice versa) as if they had done hundreds of weddings together. What I don't see mentioned in many reviews are the rehearsal dinners hosted at the Oaks. The staff worked with us to create a custom Italian menu and it was nothing short of spectacular!! Not only was it delicious, but it was a beautiful presentation and well kept throughout the event, which doesn't always happen with buffets! Lynda Gerding(wedding party)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-03-2018 This review is long overdue! Our daughter and son-in-law had their wedding at The Oaks in Sept 2016. Thinking back to the weekend still brings smiles to our faces and will for years to come. The Oaks as a venue was perfect offering a mix of everything - the wedding was in the garden overlooking the water, the cocktail hour was spread across the lawn by the waterfront and under the covered pier and the dinner and reception was in the ballroom. The food, wow, where do we begin. Saying the food was delicious is an understatement. It was full of flavor, plentiful and the presentation was top notch. Our son-in-law has multiple food allergies and the staff was most accommodating. People always said that weddings go so fast so make sure you pause and enjoy. How true.... but what makes The Oaks stand apart from other places is that you stay at the Oaks for the full weekend (we went down with bride and groom and the groom's parents on Thursday to have special time as an immediate family). Having a full weekend at the Oaks allow you to unwind and enjoy the wedding party and family. The Oaks offers a wedding planner/host and what a benefit that was as well, especially given that this was our first wedding to plan. Anthony, the host, was there when we needed him offering us top notch service, and was always readily available behind the scenes. I work in hotels and wanted something more intimate and personal -- The Oaks gave us just what we were looking for. We were able to use the entire venue for the weekend, giving our family and friends a place to relax and spend time with one another. Our family and friends cannot stop raving about the experience. On top of being the most perfect setting and location, the staff is truly one of a kind. They take care of you from start to finish (no matter what time you email with questions!). I honestly cannot even begin to say enough wonderful things about the staff, setting and how much our family and guests loved every moment. Candi, Anthony, and Sandy went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. And I have to mention Anthony again because he was just fabulous on every level. He answered every one of my many emails immediately and answered every question I had thoroughly. I had zero worries when arriving on Friday and he made every vision I had that we talked about come to life. My entire family and all our friends staying with us loved him as well. He checked on us at the cottage many times on Saturday to make sure all was going well and if we needed anything at all. His expertise and professionalism were more than I could ever have hoped for on the best day of my life!!! I could honestly go on and on but trust me, if you plan your day here, you will be SO HAPPY!! And this goes for all the staff as well. We were always taken care of and had many people come up to us all weekend asking if we needed anything. The special touches such as leaving food for us in the cottage after the wedding was over was much appreciated. And the food was out of this world!!! We had more than half our guests raving about the apps and dinner! We had the best weather for our ceremony on the dock and I just cannot wait to get or pictures back and share. Another wonderful part of having your wedding here is that you get to stay the whole weekend and invite your family and friends to be with you since they have a 14 room inn. It was so nice to be able to plan a weekend getaway for everyone as well. Me and my now husband Andrew would recommend The Oaks a million times over and over again. Alex Leikin(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 11-06-2016 From the very first time we walked through the front door, we were completely enamored with The Oaks and all of the staff. My new husband, family, and I cannot say enough wonderful things not only about our wedding weekend, but also about planning our weekend a year and a half with Heather, Sandy, and Candi. The venue: An absolute fairy tale. Excited about the idea of a wedding day with everyone you love, but hate that it’s only for one night? Part of the reason why getting married at The Oaks (on a Saturday) is so ideal is that you get the entire inn to yourself, your family, and whoever you want there with you for the weekend. For us, this was everything—our families and entire bridal party all stayed at The Oaks with us, which made the weekend even more special. Not to mention the fact that the one-of-a-kind property is on the water with a beautiful garden, two barns, and a covered dock. The setting could not have been more perfect! The FOOD: We still have people contacting us to tell us how incredible the food was— “best wedding dinner we’ve ever had.” And, since the staff made sure my husband and I sat down to eat (like actually came outside to grab us), we completely agree. They even made sure to put some extra food and two slices of wedding cake in the cottage for us when we returned from our after party. Simply amazing. The people: Part of the reason why we had such a great time planning our wedding was due to the people who helped us. Sandy and Candi played integral roles throughout the months of planning, while Heather was our extraordinary day-of (and many days before) coordinator. The entire process was extremely organized and we always knew what we had to do. The timeline ran perfectly and anything we needed help with was taken care of. We knew we had nothing to worry about from the moment we checked in and had so much fun the entire weekend with everyone at The Oaks—they were kind, helpful, and fully invested in giving us the wedding of our dreams. The food and service were outstanding and the owner and her wedding planning staff were very flexible and helpful to us throughout the process. The rooms at the inn were perfect for our wedding party and out of town immediate family. Caitlin Leibig(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-10-2015 We had a wonderful experience working with The Oaks Waterfront Inn and Events! What a beautiful wedding venue, we received so many compliments. We enjoyed working with Vicki, Sandy, and everyone else at The Oaks and everyone was very helpful with all of our questions leading up to our wedding. We really enjoyed the entire tasting experience - the two of us and my parents went to the tasting and we liked everything we tried. The Oaks gave us a complimentary (although I'm sure we ended up paying for it at some point) night's stay the night before the tasting, which was really nice. While we had a great experience with The Oaks, we were a little upset when we discovered our wedding coordinator was no longer with The Oaks (we were never told by The Oaks, we found out from someone else in town a few weeks before the wedding). That said, we understand it was an unusual situation and Vicki became our new wedding coordinator and picked up right where we left off. She was wonderful to work with! She was so helpful on our wedding day and made sure we were in the right place at the right time at all times. The food was absolutely incredible. We were told by several guests that it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding! Another plus, The Oaks had two plates of hors d'oeuvres and desserts waiting for us when we went back to The Cottage at the end of the night - so thoughtful! The Cottage was lovely, it was so nice to have a big place for all of the girls to get ready in. We highly recommend The Oaks as both a wedding venue and for a weekend get away!! My husband (then fiancee) and I were looking at numerous venues on the water around the Baltimore area, however nothing seemed to be \"the one\". When I emailed the Oaks regarding information, they were quick to respond and give me price ranges and package information. We realized that is was very comparable to many venues on the water. From the first moment I stepped onto the location, I knew it was the one. The staff, especially Tracey, Vicki, and Candy were always quick to respond to any questions. I was planning my wedding from a far, and due to their help I was never stressed. The venue is gorgeous! It not only is on a body of water, it is residential which makes it nice and welcoming. We loved that not only were we going to have a wedding, but a wedding weekend! Our family and friends made a mini vacation out of it. \r\rOur wedding was truly beyond our wildest dreams. Everything ran smoothly and perfect. From the beautiful ceremony on the point, to cocktail hour outside with delicious apps (our guest still are raving about the mini ruebens and bacon wrapped scallops), to the premium open bar with friendly bartenders and quick service, to our dinner with tender steak and succulent crabcakes with a delicious desert bar and to top the night off I surprised my groom with Fireworks! When we got back to the cottage on our wedding, Vicki and the staff wrapped up pieces of our wedding cake and our favorite deserts! \r\rI can not thank the oaks enough for accommodating us and giving us the wedding of our dreams. Everyone who came to the wedding had a wonderful time, and keep talking about it to this day. Our guests still say we had \"the best wedding ever\". Our guests that weekend were able to enjoy activities, like bike riding, canoeing, the pool or just relaxing in the Adirondack chairs. The bridal cottage was perfect, and being able to stay at the venue the night before and get ready, leisurely and comfortably, with my bridesmaids and family offered so much comfort; I was so relaxed on my wedding day (and I am not a relaxed person by nature at all!) We also held our rehearsal dinner there, which just made the whole place seem like home the whole weekend! The staff was so helpful in putting us in contact with great vendors and for making sure the whole weekend went off without a hitch. And the food was really, really, really good! When we toured the Oaks, we knew it was exactly where we wanted to get married. I recognize that most brides will say that everything about their day was perfect, but truthfully, Tracey and her team made sure that everything was perfect. Tracey's attention to detail made the planning process much easier than it should have been, and everything at the oaks is taken care of for you, you just customize your day to how you like. The menu options are great, and I love that you are able to have the entire venue for you and your guests for the weekend. We opted to do our rehearsal dinner there as well, and it was absolutely perfect on the dock. \r\rOn the wedding day, everything was set up and moving according to plan, and I did not have to worry about a thing. Tracey had everything ready to go, and I was able to walk down the aisle not having any stresses. They work with you to accommodate shuttles to nearby hotels in the area to make sure your guests arrive safely and on time, and make great recommendations to other local vendors in the area.\r\rSome other things that I really liked about their level of service were that they give you a free night's stay when you come for your tasting, as it is likely you are coming from out of town. This enables you to meet with other vendors on one trip without having to do it in one day. Additionally, the food in fantastic. I had several people come up to us weeks after the wedding and tell us that it was the best wedding food they had ever had. Also, because we missed cocktail hour due to photos, Tracey had a tray of all our appetizers waiting for us so we could enjoy the food with each other. The little details throughout the night really went a long way.\r\rThe reception was effortless and went by way too fast, but it was such a magical night. I highly recommend The Oaks to any bride who wants to *actually* have the day of her dreams! \r\r\r**Note: though it was not an issue, something to keep in mind is that you do have to get additional sound folks to mic up your officiant and musicians.** Reviewed on 08-09-2015

Tracey worked with us through the entire project, answering any questions we had and working closely with both of our families. She was very clear about what could be done and worked with us to get all the details we wanted included and highlighted exactly the way we wanted. I couldn't ask for a more professional and knowledgeable event coordinator. She handled our wedding flawlessly. We were able to enjoy our wedding because we knew Tracey had everything under control. \r\rNext, the venue. We still have family and friends telling us how amazing The Oaks was for our wedding. The combination of the inn, the waterfront views, and the awesome grounds made for a one-of-a-kind location. Every part of the grounds was extremely well maintained and we were able to set up all the different decorations we wanted to make it our own for the whole weekend. We used The Oaks for both our rehearsal dinner and the ceremony, so we can to enjoy having dinner and a party on the dock, while using the point and ballroom for our ceremony and reception. Each had its own piece of charm to make the weekend unforgettable. The staff was friendly and helpful, the food (made by the owner and chef) was delicious and exactly what we expected from our tasting. The food was definitely better than a lot of weddings to which we've been. \r\rI took advantage of the bridal cottage to get ready with all my bridesmaids while my husband had a room with his groomsmen to get ready. We were greeted with hot apple cider and warm brownies and given a fabulous tour. The scenery is breathtaking and you just feel at home while your there. My husband is from Minnesota and we wanted our wedding somewhere that our out of town guests can be close and feel comfortable. St. Michaels and The Oaks made this possible. To have the entire grounds for the whole weekend was more than a bride could ask for and it was more resonably priced than other venues we were looking at to have for 5-6 hours. From the moment I arrived Thursday until we left Sunday, I got to make The Oaks my home. Both family and friends were able to stay, they have a pool, canoes, we set up corn hole. There was so much to do to keep everyone happy and occupied. Our rehersal dinner on the boatdock was the kickoff to a fairytale weekend. The food is OUTSTANDING and the staff was wonderful. I could not of asked for a smoother wedding day either. The weather was perfect, everyone was so relaxed, the ballroom is just spectacular, and if you have the option, get the FIREWORKS! They are totally worth it...about a 15-20 minute phenomenal show for your guests. The ballroom is so beautiful and elegant also. It was truly a dream come true for me and our guests were more than pleased. Everything is laid back but super elegant. And if you want your family and friends close by, you have that option. St. Michaels is so close with plenty of hotel/B & B options with so much to do for your guests as well. I would have my wedding at The Oaks every weekend if I could and we will be back to celebrate our anniversaries for years to come! Also- Tracey, the wedding coordinator, is fabulous. Immediately when we got into Easton/St. Michaels, we knew we loved the area but now needed to find the place. The Oaks was on our list and once we arrived, we instantly fell in love with everything it had to offer. We knew this was where we wanted to get married. \r\rThroughout the planning process, we worked closely with Tracey George (GM) and team. Everyone was extremely polite, thoughtful, professional, and truly a pleasure to work with. I feel like my husband and I had a million questions and felt silly asking some of them, but the manner in which they were answered made us extremely comfortable and validated our decision to have our wedding at The Oaks. \r\rBeing as busy as I imagine Tracey and team are, they were never to busy to help and support my husband and I. In fact a couple weeks before the wedding our family decided to invite 24 additional guests, which was after we had finalized the plans. As I panicked and called Tracey for guidance and help (without batting an eye) she responded with \"no worries, we will make it happen\". This was just one instance of how accommodating Tracey and The Inn were. I really don't think everything would have gone as smooth without her support.\r\rFor the setting, my husband and I wanted our guests to enjoy the atmosphere and be able to explore the area with ease. The Oaks gave us tips and helpful hints on what to tell our guests and where to have them go as well as a preferred list of vendors to make the planning as easy as possible. We encouraged our guests to stay for the entire weekend which most did. We did the crab feast for our rehearsal dinner which was a huge hit and probably the best crabs we've had. Which brings me to reviewing the dinner for the wedding night. We went with the cake and steak and it was delicious!!! We had comments on how great the food was and we couldn't have agreed more. \r\rAs a bonus, we ended up doing the fireworks...and it was actually on a rainy night!! Tracey worked her magic though...for a short time while the rain broke, she made it happen!! The guests were in a pleasant disbelief while watching the show and for the entire event. First, Tracey is simply amazing. Not only is she incredibly responsive and knowledgable about every detail of the wedding planning process, she has a wonderful, positive attitude and professional manner that put all of us at ease. Several of my family members in the bridal party commented on how great Tracey was at keeping things running smoothly at the wedding. Leading up to the wedding, she answered all of my questions promptly and gave me helpful advice in planning and was there til the very end of the reception handling everything so I did not feel one ounce of stress. In particular, she managed some vendor relations at the end of the night that could have potentially stressed me out. Tracey managed everything so I could really enjoy the entire night. Also, the staff is really wonderfully attentive. Tracey's assistant was so attentive to me and my husband during the wedding- she even made sure to get his favorite drink from the bar before it closed while we were out and about dancing and taking pictures so when he returned to the table it was there waiting for him. Several of our guests commented on how good the food was as well, and many out-of-town guests could not believe how beautiful the venue was, with the picturesque setting on the water. Tracey was so on the ball and detail oriented. I must have emailed her twice a week for a year and she never missed a beat! \r\rIf I can give one suggestion-- besides obviously making this your first choice it would be to do a sparkler send off. This was the icing on the cake at the end of the night!! \r\rThank you Tracey and the rest of the staff at The Oaks for making my dream wedding a reality! Reviewed on 30-05-2013

The food was excellent, the service was even better. Everything was taken care of from the moment we arrived on Friday until we left on Sunday. It is a very cozy and private Inn. Exactly what we had envisioned for our day. \r\rThey are particular about who they have as their vendors, and in planning made things a little difficult for my MIH who was making our cake. The food was unbelievable and being able to have our wedding party and close friends and family stay there with us was a memorable experience. Every step of the way they helped us to coordinate whatever we needed. Deb White(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-11-2010 From the moment we arrived at The Oaks, we knew it was the a perfect location for our wedding. This intimate, beautiful waterfront inn not only has charm, but is well-kept and offered everything we were looking for: delicious food, great staff, indoor and outdoor space, upscale (but not stuffy) decor, and a great value. \r\rNicole, the wedding planner, and her staff were an absolute joy to work with. From the first on-site tour to the post-wedding brunch, The Oaks staff was always professional, friendly, and welcoming; they only added to our joy of the occasion. I was a very detail-oriented bride with many lists and questions, and not once did I ever feel like a crazy bride, although I'm sure at times I was. :) Knowing they were taking charge, I was able to forget all of the little things and enjoy the day. \r\rSince I am not used to spending so much money on one event, I was very nervous to officially book the venue; however, it was the best decision I made for my wedding! I received so many compliments from my guests about how beautiful the venue was, how delicious the food was, how well-planned it was. They took care of EVERYTHING; the different packages already include all necessary food, alcohol, transportation and more. It was nice to check those blocks early on and not have to worry about them! On the day when your guests arrive, there are swarms of staff waiting to welcome and assist your guests, which made for a very impressive entry, and certainly helped out the wedding party by bringing us food and drinks during photos!\r\rThe best part is by far the food. It is INCREDIBLE! Nicole told me that there would be enough food (I was worried I might have to order more) and she was right-- there were plenty! I made sure to leave room in the reception timeline for actually eating our dinner, and I'm so glad I did since it tasted just as delicious as it did from our tasting. No guest could possibly leave hungry from your reception or morning-after brunch!\r\rSince some of our guests were able to stay at the Inn with us, The Oaks became our home away from home for the weekend. So many of our guests took advantage of the location and their own Christmas/family photos there! The bridal cottage was such a nice treat for my bridesmaids and I to get ready in the day-of, as well as a beautiful location to come back to on the night-of the wedding. I look forward to staying there again during their off-season for future anniversaries. \r\rThe best surprise was coming home from our honeymoon and seeing a blog post about our wedding up on the site! I had not been able to look through our photographer's photos yet, so it was my first view of them, and it was such a joy to get to share the post with my friends and family! I am so honored to be a part of The Oaks' love stories blogs and look forward to being able to show friends and family the post for years to come. \r\rTo sum it up, you cannot go wrong with booking your wedding at The Oaks. Pouring rain, beautiful sunshine or feet of snow (and I've seen it in all of them), your wedding will be absolutely beautiful and excellently executed. They think of everything so you can relax and enjoy your special day! Reviewed on 10-05-2011
Casey Jane(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-11-2010 If you don't want a \"wedding factory vibe\" The Oaks is the perfect answer. It feels like being on your own private waterfront estate! When people say it is the best wedding food they have ever had, they are not exaggerating! Everything was fabulous and having a personal attendant that made sure we got to have hors d'oeuvres as we were off taking pictures was an added (and unexpected) bonus! Most my friends said they never got to taste theirs.\r\rWhat is so easy about planning a wedding here is that they help you get connected with all the vendors. Flowers, make-up, music, photography, etc. We are based in NY, so this made our planning very easy. Also - Nicole and Marcus are amazing, as is the whole staff at The Oaks.\r\rIn addition to having the rehearsal dinner and wedding reception, we added a few activities for the guests, including a morning yoga class, a harbor tour on the Patriot and a wine tasting event at the local winery....all these extras made it a more intimate and relaxing weekend for our guests.\r\rI cant wait to go back! Nicole Jones(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-08-2010 I couldn't have asked for a better experience with The Oaks. I originally booked with a different coordinator there and when there was a personnel change, I have to admit I was a little nervous. I was so foolish to think that there would be any loss in quality or customer service because Nicole van Winden was the best! She had suggestions and tips that were extremely helpful and was always accessible should I need to speak to her. She suggested vendors that were amazing and even saved me hundreds of dollars on transportation costs alone! The night before at rehearsal, she took over tasks to help me set up for the reception. As far as the venue goes, my wedding was on August 21, 2010 and the weather was perfect, the day beautiful and my guests could not stop talking about the view, the location and the food. This place spoke to me and my now husband and we knew it was the perfect place for our wedding and were on cloud nine on our day when it exceeding our expectations. My advice would be to take advantage of the classic Eastern Shore feel of the location and play up on its best features. You don't need to over do it at a place like this because the venue does all the talking for itself. We used the colors of the trees and water, left by boat instead of limo, had a steel drummer for cocktail hour on the beautiful lawn and ate dinner looking out the huge windows. I look forward to returning here year after year to visit and relive the memories. Thanks for everything! Reviewed on 08-09-2010

Michelle Lee(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-08-2010 We selected this venue because it is a one stop shop - coordinator, rooms, food, beautiful site, bartender, linens ... we only needed to provide the cake, photographer, music and flowers. Our day was spectacular and made much simpler because of all that they provide.\r\rCoordinator - Nicole was great. Super sweet and accommodating. She helped us with the entire process and was there for the whole weekend. It really made me feel relaxed. Sarah and Susan in the office were also great when I had a quick question.\r\r\rFood - The food was great. All the reviews said it was the best wedding food ever and they were right! Also, they were able to do special meals for guests at no charge (vegetarian and celiac).\r\r\rSite - Oh. My. Goodness. I just love the venue. So beautiful and they've made several upgrades since we initially signed our contract. (The dock looks great!) And, the roses were in full bloom! When we got there for the rehearsal, I was stunned. It was amazing. Most of our guests were from out of town and people just couldn't get over how beautiful the venue was. The water views are like unbeatable!\r\rRooms - The rooms had everything our guests needed and more. They were charming and sweet, yet still very comfortable and well appointed. The grounds are full of activities and my nieces and nephews spent all day at the pool. Plus our \"Bridal Cottage\" was perfect and very romantic for our first night as newlyweds. We loved being close but in a separate building.\r\rI would recommend The Oaks to someone in a heartbeat. Reviewed on 14-08-2010

Ann Davis(parent)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-05-2010 Dear Nicole,\r\tI don’t think there are enough words to gush over what a wonderful job you did with Jessica and John’s wedding. There were many extenuating circumstances that kept me from focusing on all of the details it takes to plan and host a wedding. We purposely chose your venue because we needed to rely on you to keep everything running smoothly, and heavens, not only did you take care of details, but you thought of everything and more! \r\tFrom the moment that all of us checked in, you made sure we had everything we needed. There was a little glitch with the air conditioning in the cottage, but immediately you had someone out there to fix the problem. When I ran into some minor issues with other vendors, you offered to make the phone calls and get everything back on track. This allowed me to focus on my daughter and the day. No one ever went hungry thanks to the delicious breakfasts and the incredible food served at the wedding. I forgot to order sandwiches for the bridal party during the wedding day, but there you were, offering to make a call to the local caterer. In the end, I didn’t even have to worry about that because your husband scrambled in the kitchen and made us a plate full of sandwiches and a basketful of drinks. \r\tAnd the wedding! Not only is The Oaks one of the most beautiful places ever, but the food and the staff are over the top! I was amazed that there was an attendant devoted to me from before the start of the wedding until the very end. Jessica and John never had to ask for anything because their attendant was always there, ready to fetch them a drink, get scotch tape, a Kleenex, food, or whatever they might have needed throughout the day and evening. All of the vendors, from the photographer, to the baker, to the DJ, said that they LOVE to work with The Oaks. You also made sure that the vendors had what they needed, so that they could concentrate on their work. \r\tThe entire weekend, from start to finish was everything and more that I could have imagined. Thank you for making the wedding everything that a mother could wish for her daughter. Reviewed on 31-07-2010

The servers were pleasant and attentive, the bar staff was exceptional and the wedding coordinator was on site the whole time making sure everything went just perfectly for the bride, groom and all of their guests. She worked with us to find ceremony musicians who perfectly matched what we were looking for, a wonderful baker for our cake and a florist who transformed The Oaks into a garden paradise! The wedding weekend was perfect. We checked in a day early and the ballroom was already ready. Nicole took all of our place cards, favors, menus, etc. and set them up for us. A beautiful venue for an outdoor wedding, with incredible great food and a few wonderful staff, but the management and wedding coordinator were so dissappointing. We found the management to be less than helpful and bordered on being rude not only to us but to some of our guest. They offered no personal attention and made us feel as if we were putting them out. What could have been a memorible event ended on such a sour note. \rHowever Carla and her son (waitress & bartender) were awesome. The chef did an incredible job with the dinner serving hot, great tasting food with wonderful presentation. The firework display was breathtaking, however the wedding coordinator had ruined the surprise for the groom. All in all the wedding was a beautiful affair but the mangement and some of the staff are very unprofessional, and not interested in customer service...only in getting home to their lives. Too Bad. Anastasia Harris(wedding party)2 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-09-2008 My sister was married at The Oaks this past weekend and by all accounts, it was a beautiful affair. The Oaks is undeniably a gorgeous venue and I would be remiss not to mention Carla who was an amazing personal attendant to my sister and our family. She seemed to be everywhere, anticipating our every need. \rWhile Carla was incredible, the managers at the Oaks left much to be desired. At the end of the evening I witnessed (who I assume to be) the catering manager yell at our DJ (who did an incredible job) and threaten to call the police on him and quote, \"have his ass arrested\" if he did not shut off the music immediately. Granted, the event was scheduled to end at 10:30 and it was 10:34 when the music was shut off, but I felt her tone and approach was extremely disrespectful and over dramatic not to mention incredibly unprofessional. Following this encounter, she also got in my mothers face when my mother asked her to be more understanding with the DJ. She physically had her body up against my mother and was shouting in her face - I was appalled. Apparently, a little earlier in the evening she also grabbed a wine glass out of my mother's hand (this was prior to the 10:30 ending) and told her it needed to go in the dishwasher immediately.\rIt is truly unfortunate that the night ended on such a sour note. I rarely write reviews but I feel it is extremely important to let people know about our experience. Weddings are expensive affairs and you would expect to be treated professionally and with a level of respect that was not demonstrated by the manager at The Oaks. Reviewed on 18-05-2010
