Built in the late 1800’s, The Old Barn at Brown County has been recently restored with new flooring, romantic chandelier lighting and convenient onsite restrooms, all while maintaining its original rustic-charm. Pros:Communication between when we booked the space and when we arrived was great. They happened to have changed owners during that time and our original contract was honored with no problems. Nice large space can accommodate about 70 people downstairs with plenty of room to walk around. You gain access to the space beginning at 1pm on friday and ends Saturday evening or Sunday morning depending on if there is another wedding. Space for bartenderBeautiful barnLake up the hill is beautiful to take pictures Secluded, not much road noiseCons: When we arrived, they filled every space in the loft of the barn with tables and chairs, leaving no clear space for a dance floor. They didn’t ask about how we wanted the upstairs arranged, only the downstairs. We wanted to put the dance floor in the loft, because that seemed the most logical space for dancing. So, we rearranged the tables upstairs to make a space for a dance floor and we carried the chairs from upstairs to outside during the reception. Most chairs were used to sit around the bonfire, because there were only three small benches to sit on out there. The coordinator from the barn arrived at 10PM and started badgering us to clean the space up right away. They wanted us to put every table and chair back where it was when we arrived (again, they never asked us how we wanted the space to be arranged). We carried most upstairs, but they badgered us about 10 more they found instead of taking 2 trips to help us carry them back upstairs. They also made us move the tables and chairs back into the same positions they were in when we got the space. Some of their heaters didn’t work. Our wedding planner had called several times about the heaters being out of gas. They should have left some propane tanks to use as extras, because it was freezing!The countertops in the kitchen were filthy. We used a Lysol wipe on it and it was black with one wipe. Utility area was just cluttered leaving us no room to store anything.Several gnats outside, should maybe consider spraying. The refrigerator wasn’t plugged in and therefore wasn't cold when we arrived, so that we could put our food, desserts, drinks, and flowers in the fridge.They have a very small hand sink in the kitchen making it hard to wash up stuff. They don’t have potable water, and they don’t even have signs that say that the water isn’t potable, we had to make, print and bring our own. Some of our guests drank the water before our signs went up. Oops! There are no outlets in the hallway. Some could be added to that food or drink warmers could be plugged in.

Perfect choice for our wedding. The owners/management were wonderful to work with, very helpful, and easy to communicate with. The barn is also beautiful. It is naturally pretty, and only took a little bit of flowers and table vines to spruce it up. I loved the location of the barn too. Tucked a few miles down hoover road, it was very quiet. One of my bridesmaids and I woke up early and went for a run north on the road, it was so pristine watching the sunrise and hearing the birds. And the goats across the street are adorable!I was hesitant about an outside wedding at first, but we could not have asked for a better spring day. The barn also provides some great photo opportunities. So overall, I am very happy with everything and definitely recommend!!

My husband and I came to look at the barn about 2 years before our wedding. It was the first and only venue we went to look at in person and we fell in love right away. Our wedding was September 26th, 2020 so of course it was during the pandemic. We were honestly worried that Brian and Darla would want to move the date of our wedding, we wanted to keep it the same as much as we could (even if that meant sacrificing the amount of guests we were allowed to have). Upon speaking with them, they asked us if we could keep that date because they are a small business and could go out of business if everyone reschedules to next year. I noticed the negative review below about the wedding held during the pandemic. They didn't mention that The Old Barn at Brown County is a small business and that if they let everyone do what that bride tried to do, there wouldn't be a venue to have the wedding at. After working with Brian and Darla a LOT over the 2 years preparing for our wedding, I know they are not as rude or directly inconsiderate as that review made them sound. My husband and I were in an odd situation for our finances and actually had to wait until about 4 months before the wedding to be able to pay it all off (I was in college still and my husband was just starting our career so we didn't have a lot of money). Brian and Darla were so amazingly easy to work with and I'm so grateful that our faith was rightly put in them. This pandemic wasn't easy for anyone trying to have their wedding but they really took a lot of stress off our shoulders. Aside from the pandemic related details of the wedding. Their package can't be beat. We got both cabins for our wedding party and we loved them both. They were both cozy and made the start and end of the day so easy going. They clean for you, set everything up for you, tear all their items down, and provide parking guidance for the day of your wedding for $7000. We looked around at other barns within 100 miles of the barn and NONE of them provided a deal like they did. They were the best value we could find. Our wedding was formal but felt more casual and it was very easy to pull off with this venue. We couldn't be happier with how our day turned out. We highly recommend it!!

Our granddaughter became engaged in 2019. She began plans for her wedding soon after. She put a deposit down and reserved The Old Barn at Brown County plus a tent for over capacity of guests for a fall wedding in 2020. By early February, she had paid the entire amount off—a full seven months in advance of the wedding date. Then COVID-19 hit.In March, a full six months ahead of the date and out of great concern, she decided to reschedule her wedding to 2021. The guest list included many seriously immune, compromised family and friends—many from out-of-state. When she contacted Brian (owner) to reschedule her wedding date, he refused and said to “wait and see how it goes”. She suggested someone else could have her date, Brian was not interested. As time went on, she contacted him again and he still refused. This was a very upsetting and emotional time for her. He told her he would make her pay full price for a 2021 Saturday with out reimbursement for her 2020 Saturday because (by this time) “five months is too late notice to rebook the date”, then Brian ended up double booking her original weekend. Because of that, she was charged an extra $100 for tent removal. Normally, it would have been removed on Monday at no extra charge. It should have been an exciting happy time for any bride-to-be. There was much heartache and many tears, he ruined it for her. I would NOT recommend The Old Barn at Brown County to any person or wedding party. The owners have no compassion or consideration. They are greedy people. All they had to do was reschedule. The wedding took place with much concern and lots of gnats. And a large number of older out-of-state relatives were not able to travel to the wedding, due to Covid restrictions.

I cannot say enough GREAT things about the Old Barn! First, Brian and Darla are great to work with. They were flexible and quick to respond to all of my messages. They were also super helpful with any questions that I had leading up to our wedding. Planning during a pandemic can be stressful but they were so assuring and made accommodations for our guests. The barn is absolutely beautiful, you really need minimal effort to decorate the space. The tables, lighting, and drapery really dress the place up. There's also a nice seating area in the upstairs loft for your guests. Along with the Big Easy Log Cabin we rented the additional cabin that is up the hill for the groomsmen and that was the best idea! The cabins are so spacious and it's nice to have lodging for you, your spouse, and your bridal party for the ENTIRE weekend, it really makes preparing a breeze. You truly get your money's worth with the barn and the cabin. I would HIGHLY recommend the Old Barn to anyone looking for a barn wedding. It truly can't be beat!

We loved having our wedding at the Old Barn at Brown County! Leaving from the initial visit to this venue, we knew this was the place we wanted to get married. Everything about this venue - the barn, the cabin, the setting, and the drive there is just gorgeous. How it’s nestled back into the hills makes for a more intimate setting away from the hustle and bustle, which is exactly what we were looking for.Darla and Brian are wonderful to work with and made our life easy as we planned this wedding. They were always quick to respond and help us through any questions we had. We agree that the Old Barn at Brown County was one of the top highlights of our wedding, and we’re glad that we chose it for our special day!

How it’s nestled back into the hills makes for a more intimate setting away from the hustle and bustle, which is exactly what we were looking for.Darla and Brian are wonderful to work with and made our life easy as we planned this wedding. My husband and I could not have chosen a better venue for our wedding than the Old Barn! We rented the Big Easy and Over Easy cabins as well, and the convenience of having our families in one location was invaluable! Brian and Darla are lovely and were wonderful to work with from beginning to end. They went above and beyond to make sure the day went perfect, and when it rained they were there to help! You will not regret choosing the Old Barn at Brown County! We can’t wait to return to the cabins for our anniversary!

Brian and Darla are lovely and were wonderful to work with from beginning to end. They went above and beyond to make sure the day went perfect, and when it rained they were there to help! You will not regret choosing the Old Barn at Brown County! We can’t wait to return to the cabins for our anniversary!

WOW!! We could not have chosen a more perfect venue for our daughter's wedding! This place is magical. When we first stepped foot onto the property, the beauty, and serenity, captured us. It was so calming and peaceful! We knew then, that this is where we wanted our daughters wedding to be held. Then, we met Darla and Brian and they were fantastic! They keep the Old Barn and property immaculate. When we arrived at the venue, the day of the wedding, they had everything ready for us exactly the way we wanted it. I could not have asked for better owners to work with or a more beautiful day that we had at the Old Barn.

The Old Barn was the perfect venue for my wedding: nestled in the lush forest of Brown County, the setting is remote and relaxed. The historic barn is fitted with string lights, chandeliers, a built-in bar, and a lovely loft that elevate the space to a top-notch venue. I loved having multiple spaces for the guests to mingle during the reception - inside the barn, up in the loft, by the fire pit out back. It was truly a dream and I can't recommend it enough. The owners were so friendly and helpful throughout the entire planning process. 5 stars all around.

The perfect venue! Not only is it absolutely gorgeous, but the owners were so helpful and amazing to work with. They were very quick to answer questions, and had both the ceremony and reception space set up exactly how we wanted it so we didn’t have to stress on the big day. We have received so many compliments about the venue from our guests and we could not be happier we chose The Old Barn at Brown County for such an important day in our lives. The perfect venue! Not only is it absolutely gorgeous, but the owners were so helpful and amazing to work with. The owners are the absolute sweetest couple to work with and are there to help with anything you may need! This venue completely exceeded our expectations! The entire venue is beautiful, the cabin was a huge hit (we rented two - one for the girls, another for the guys), and the venue coordinators were the absolute BEST. We enjoyed working with them to plan out the details and savored every minute of our day. We only wish we could do it all over again! Can't say enough wonderful things about our experience from start to finish. The moment we stepped into the venue we knew it was the one and it certainly didn't disappoint! Rustic, secluded, and everything you need all in one place!
