The Old Post Office is a beautifully restored Chicago Landmark that has been transformed into a bustling commercial building by day, and a unique wedding venue by night. Sitting right above Ida B Wells Drive, this 1920’s Art-Deco building serves as the gateway to the city.
Fall in love with the floor-to-ceiling marble in the Historic Lobby, complimented by gold leaf ceiling tiles, brass ornamentation, and original chandeliers. The lobby can seat up to 700 guests with a dance floor, and host up to 1,400 guests for a cocktail-style reception.
To compliment the Historic Lobby, we have the Telegram Lounge, Library, and Vault on the second floor. The Telegram Lounge amplifies any reception with its wrap-around bar, Bocce lane, pool tables, and East-facing views of the Chicago River. The Vault serves as the perfect bridal suite addition.
At the top of The Old Post Office, we have the Meadow and Penthouse. The Meadow is the perfect space to entertain your guests outside; the 3.5-acres of lush garden creates an oasis above the busy city. The partially-covered North Meadow features a built-in bar, heat lamps, and sleek furniture. This space can accommodate up to 250 guests for a one-of-a-kind cocktail reception. Steps away from the Meadow, with original brick, exposed ceilings, and modern fixtures, the Penthouse is the perfect loft-like backdrop for events. This dynamic duo creates a seamless indoor/outdoor event experience. The Penthouse can accommodate up to 300 guests for a cocktail reception, and 150 guests for a seated event with a nice dance floor.
Jillian Kata(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-10-2022 So disappointed in the customer service I received trying to work out an elopement at this location. For starters, it was extremely difficult to get ahold of anyone. They claimed that they do not provide elopement services, but there are many blog posts showing couples eloping here. They refused to answer any of my questions about even photographing here, even though it's advertised on the website that this is possible. It was very clear from their vague messages back, that they weren't going to give me any answers. So upsetting! Reviewed on 03-10-2022
Anna Kneller(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 10-09-2022 I loved getting married at the Old Post Office! I always knew I wanted something with some history and the Old Post Office checked every box. The lobby with it's preserved history and the second floor with it's more modern look. We got married in the pent house and I loved the exposed brick, ceiling and concrete floors. We had our cocktail hour on the rooftop and our guests marveled over the city views while still having nature elements. Our day of contact, Jenni, was very responsive and made sure everything went smoothly. Reviewed on 27-09-2022

The rooftop was perfect for cocktail hour. Security was friendly and helpful.Parking was a little tough because they were going through construction, but we were able to send out detailed information to our wedding guests in advance to their arrival.Jamie is a pleasure to work with. Allison Lantero(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-08-2021 We had a wonderful experience hosting our wedding with Jamie & Leah at the Old Post Office. We found them through the Knot, and from day one they were responsive and professional. They took us on an extra tour of the space when my soon-to-be in-laws were in town and helped us coordinate with our vendors. But the reason they get 5 stars is their COVID flexibility. Two weeks before our wedding, Chicago re-instated its mask mandate, which would've meant our guests were required to wear masks on the dance floor in the historic lobby. Rather than let that happen, Leah worked with our wedding planner (Jaci at Clementine Events) and we moved our dance floor to the basketball court on the roof. It was, by far, the most magical part of our wedding--dancing out under the moon with the lights of the city all around us and the tip of the Sears Tower looking down on us. I will remember it for years and years to come. Reviewed on 02-10-2021
Erin McElhenie(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-05-2021 We absolutely loved our experience with The Old Post Office. Leah and Jamie were incredibly accommodating as we moved our wedding from August 2020 to May 2021 and even as we neared the May date, they allowed us to remain flexible on which space we were using: outside vs. inside based on changing COVID restrictions. On top of this, the space is amazing. We had our ceremony in the lobby, bridal/wedding party suite in the vault, cocktail hour/dinner/dancing in the telegram lounge and dessert/coffee in the library. The lobby was so impressive and perfect for our photo shoot with the wedding party and family. Perhaps our favorite part of the telegram lounge is the bocce court off to the side (guests were on it all night long), but the spectacular bar is certainly up there too. We left the pool and ping pong tables closed but you could open those for additional entertainment. Overall, we had a great planning experience and memorable night and waiting a few extra months to be able to use the space to its potential was well worth it. Reviewed on 11-06-2021
