Old World Elegance in a Park-Like Setting
The Olmsted is a historic reception venue in Louisville, KY, originally built between 1925-27, across 80 acres of beautiful landscape. Owned by the Masterson family, the estate has welcomed many to-be-weds to celebrate their special day in luxury and style every year since 1998. Featuring a red brick exterior with a white column entrance, the house has a museum-like atmosphere that captivates visitors. Couples and guests alike are sure to feel a sense of awe as they walk the marbled hallways, accented with crown moldings and high ceilings. Arched windows flood the ballrooms with an abundance of natural light, while ornate chandeliers hang from the ceiling and produce a regal effect. The Olmsted derives its name from Frederick Law Olmsted Jr., a renowned landscape architect who followed in his father’s footsteps and carried on the family legacy. Frederick Senior was most known for designing Central Park in New York City and the family received recognition nationwide for their work. The preservation of natural land in urban settings was an essential part of Frederick’s practice, and the design of the estate reflected these principles. Today, the owners of the property are passionate about maintaining the elegance and gourmet catering customs passed down from generation to generation. From seamless event management to beautiful wedding plans, the team understands the importance of this special day. Couples can celebrate in style knowing their vision for a dream wedding is coming to life behind the scenes. The Olmsted offers all-inclusive wedding reception packages to accommodate to-be-weds planning their big day. Beginning with an in-depth consultation, couples can discuss their ideas and explore different avenues. In-house culinary staff are on-hand to prepare, cook, and serve a gourmet menu on the day that is sure to delight guests. Bar service is also available for the convenience of couples.

The OImsted was the most perfect wedding venue for us. We worked with Sueanna and Claire for a year and a half to plan the day. Everything turned out to be exactly how I imaged it from the logistics, decor, food, vibes - just perfect! What stood out to me the most was how attentive the staff was on the day of. As the bride, every time I sat down in my chair they pulled my chair out for me, placed a napkin on my lap, and always asked if I needed my drink refilled. My guests were so impressed with the whole space and we were able to flow seamlessly from the ceremony to cocktail hour to a fun reception.

The Olmsted was really a perfect venue for our wedding. It is convenient for guests to get to and in a central part of the city. Parking is easy for guests who want to drive to and from the reception. The staff was very friendly and easy to work with. The interior aesthetic is beautiful and the different wings allow for dinner to be served in one end with dancing and music in the other.

The Olmsted was amazing to work with! With our original date during covid and the restrictions still in place then we had a small ceremony there and just had our reception this year. They worked with us and were very accommodating with the constant change of plans. I couldn't recommend them enough! The food was delicious and everything went smoothly both for the reception and ceremony!

We had our reception at the Olmsted a few weeks ago and it did not disappoint! It was beautiful and gave a very classy feel to the reception. Jeri and Claire were an absolute pleasure to work with through the whole planning process, and really helped my vision come to life. The venue itself is gorgeous with high ceilings and beautiful chandeliers. The property is beautiful, and our wedding pictures turned out amazing both inside and outside the venue. Everything about this venue was perfect for my wedding. Jeri and Claire were a pleasure to work with and made the entire planning process easy and stress-free. I enjoyed how the essentials were included in the price (beautiful space, tables/chairs, linens, catering, etc.), it made it super easy and more of a \"one stop shop\" experience. All of our guests were raving about the food, and the service was IMPECCABLE. All of the servers exceeded our expectations the night of our event. They were gracious, patient, and SO helpful. I could not recommend this venue more for any type of event!

We could not have selected a more perfect place to have our friends and family gather to celebrate our marriage. The Olmsted is classically elegant on it's own. However, I had a dream that our reception would look and feel like \"Southern Classic Elegance\" with the feeling of spring. I wanted color...pinks, green and orange. I wanted gold, and specifically gold pineapples on our tables...I shared my vision with Sueanna and she brought it to life. I was in awe of the beauty and elegance, but especially impressed how she created a feeling of spring and warmth, though it was freezing outside. Sueanna and the entire staff worked tirelessly to make our night special and perfect. The Olmsted staff is superior in service. No one was ever without. My Husband and I were catered to and treated like Royalty. Feedback from our Guests is they were treated the same. The food was exceptionally delicious. We had food stations, and worked with Sueanna to create a menu thatreflected our tastes and personality...Our Guests were impressed. We loved everything about the Olmsted, working with Sueanna, Jeri and Claire. No Vendor worked harder to fulfill our wishes. I wish there were ten stars.

We could not have been happier with Jeri and her team at the Olmsted. It was the perfect venue for our glitzy NYE wedding and we have had so many compliments about not only how beautiful everything was, but also how smoothly everything went (thanks to the caterers and event staff) and how well everything flowed, from the ceremony, to the cocktail hour, dinner, then the reception. It is the perfect venue for a large wedding crowd!

Although I was so busy that I didn't get to enjoy most of the food/drinks at my wedding, SO many guests have told me it was the best wedding food ever - especially the mini hot brown crostinis and the chicken florentine! I know at my tasting everything was delicious - so I trust them. The bartenders were all so friendly, and we loved having a specialty bourbon bar with top shelf selections. Kristina was so easy to work with, and never tried to push me out of my budget. Definitely recommend going with Mastersons :)

We planned our wedding from out of state, and Jeri was very flexible and met with us for planning meetings when we were available. The venue is absolutely beautiful, and our guests loved it! The food couldn't have been better. We had several people tell us it was the best catered dinner they've ever had. The service staff the night of our wedding were on top of everything and made everyone feel like they were VIPs. If I had 10 stars, I would give it to The Olmsted!

we cannot say enough good things about the Olmstead. We have been to numerous weddings and knew this would be a fantastic place to have our wedding(especially a very large wedding!) Everything was top notch,from Jeri and her assistant Claire who make every step easy. To the entire staff who work so hard to make sure your event is special and worry free!We have had nothing but praise from our guests:the greetingt at the door the small lines at the bar,the food service(food was fantastic !)cutting the cake and cleaning up!!A very worry free evening for the bride and Mother of the Bride!(me) Not to mention you will not find a more beautiful venue with lots of easy,free parking.All in all a magical night!!

we cannot say enough good things about the Olmstead. We have been to numerous weddings and knew this would be a fantastic place to have our wedding(especially a very large wedding!) Everything was top notch,from Jeri and her assistant Claire who make every step easy. To the entire staff who work so hard to make sure your event is special and worry free!We have had nothing but praise from our guests:the greetingt at the door the small lines at the bar,the food service(food was fantastic !)cutting the cake and cleaning up!!A very worry free evening for the bride and Mother of the Bride!(me) Not to mention you will not find a more beautiful venue with lots of easy,free parking.All in all a magical night!!

I could not have imagined a more perfect location for our wedding reception. Even before we knew that we were going to need a large space for a venue, we were confident that we wanted to use The Olmsted. We have been to a few weddings there before and heard nothing but amazing things about the location, the staff, the catering, and Jeri! Jeri helped us along the way and made the process so easy. Even though things came up along the way that changed ours plans, she never seemed put out or bothered by the changes made. She had the goal of making our families happy. I couldnt imagine our day going as perfect as it did without her! Masterson's was flawless. We had plated meals with the choice of chicken or beef and every single guest was served their correct order. We heard so many compliments on the food as well! Everyone from the staff to the bartenders were attentive and provided excellent service. It was so nice to sit back and enjoy the wedding, feeling confident that everything was run smoothly.

The setting was stunning, the food was delicious, and the service was a 10. In fact, guests were commenting on how attentive the staff were. Jeri worked with me on an unusual signature cocktail request that turned out to be a hit. My husband and I even received a care package with samplers of all the appetizers and two pieces of each cake flavor.

Masterson's was a great fit for our wedding at the Louisville Palace! The Palace did have an in-house caterer that we decided to use just because it was easy. That was until about a few months before the wedding they cut all ties with this caterer and we were left without anyone to provided food for our wedding. We went to Masterson's and they were able to match all the appetizers and main dish that we had previously had with the old caterer. And what we found out through the tasting was - their food is better. We definitely came out on top going with Masterson's. Their staff set up all the tables beautifully and were able to provided 185 people with salmon at the perfect temperature. We actually had guests question how they were able to achieve that. We highly recommend Masterson's for any wedding!

Kristina at Masterson's was absolutely wonderful!!! She made the catering process so smooth for us. We received numerous compliments on the buffet style food at our reception. Some of the most popular selections were the tender beef carving station, chicken florentine, champagne dill salmon, and saffron rice. Everything was so flavorful and we cannot thank them enough for being so professional while serving our guests. They were very helpful throughout the entire night. I would highly recommend using Masterson's catering!!!

Everything was so flavorful and we cannot thank them enough for being so professional while serving our guests. They were very helpful throughout the entire night. I would highly recommend using Masterson's catering!!!

The good: The food was exceptional. We received a lot of compliments about how tasty it was, and the presentation (especially of the dessert bar) was great. We had Masterson's also take care of renting chairs/tents/etc, and that was extremely nice. When a problem arose on the day before, Masterson's and my coordinator took care of it immediately, which I appreciated so much. Everyone I dealt with in the office was nice and honest and committed to providing good service. Service during dinner was good, too (i.e. when I needed a refill, it was taken care of easily/quickly). The bad: While the on-site \"Captain\" was excellent, other staff members were less than pleasant. On a couple of different occasions while guests were present, one staff member yelled obscenities across the yard. This same staff member also spent a LOT of time in our photo booth, which we all found to be a little disrespectful/unprofessional. It was not just the one member who spent time in the photo booth either. Lastly, the staff members wrapped up the rest of the food for themselves without even asking us (the bride/groom) if we wanted any wrapped up. I didn't get to really eat, and so it would have been nice to have a little something for later that night after the wedding. But unfortunately, I was never asked about this, and there was no food left over because it had all been wrapped up to go.Overall: I think the price was fair, the food was excellent, but the service and professionalism of the on-site staff members could have been better.

Masterson's has been known for being the best in Louisville and they did not disappoint! They were super helpful with all of the questions and changing of the menu multiple times leading up to the big day, and offer free tastings (they let you take all the leftovers home too!) Even with all of the mishaps of the day caused by the venue, Masterson's made sure to accommodate anything I needed changed the minute I asked them. Their staff was polite and so helpful! They made the buffet look so beautiful -- I didn't even know that they did all the decorating on the buffet tables like that until I walked up to get food and it was an awesome touch! Every time I see someone from the wedding they keep commenting on how good and HOT the food was! Even people at the back of the line still had hot food and that was great -- AND they offer late night snacks which was a nice addition to our wedding!! I definitely recommend them to anyone that will ask. Their prices are reasonable and you know that the end product will be delicious! Thanks again for all the help in making my wedding day great!

Hands down the BEST venue in Louisville, KY. We loved that everything (food, tables and chairs, linens) was all handled right there. Also, you give them your vendor phone numbers and Jeri's staff coordinates the set up. No need for a coordinator, they are it!! But the bottom line is...our guests were treated so well! We had 2 guests that we didn't know were gluten intolerant. They were immediately accommodated. Now that's service!

I loved the Olmsted from the moment I drove up...and then walked in the doors! It is a stunning place. It is a beautiful venue. It is simple, yet very elegant and classy. But the more I worked with the staff, the better the Olmsted became. The staff was so accommodating, they were so friendly, and obviously enjoy what they do. You don't have to worry about anything there, because they account for all that's needed. My dress seam popped open right before my wedding, but Jeri (the event coordinator) was there to sew it back up - a priceless talent! I highly recommend the Olmsted.

You not just paying for the space, you get so much more. Jeri and Meredith work also as your wedding coordinator. They have vender suggestions, help you will every detail of the menu (you have to use Mastersons, their kitchen is in the back) and help you with a day of itinerary. The location is beautiful and you don't need a lot of extra decoration.

Delicious food, great service, couldn't be happier! Masterson's was great to work with. Well known, established company that is very dependable. Also, as we were leaving the reception, they handed us a bag. They had packed us sandwiches, fruit and cheese to go! I was starving after having not eaten much all day and this was a wonderful surprise. Showed us how much they cared and we had so much fun eating our little picnic at the hotel!

Our venue provided a list of approved vendors and originally we selected a different caterer. After multiple disappointments, we went back to the list and met with Kristina at Masterson's. From the first email, Kristina exuded confidence that she could help make our wedding what we wanted it to be. We gave her a budget and we were able to provide plenty of food and drinks for our guests. The waitstaff at the event was also wonderful! They never missed a beat. Looking back at our original catering selection, it is easy to say you get what you pay for. Thank you Masterson's for helping with our special day!

We chose Masterson's overall because of the price and the food. We had a very large wedding so price was key. The food was fabulous, always nervous about chicken on a buffet but it was delicious!! \r\rService was a little questionable at points. There were some communication errors (appetizers and drinks were supposed to be at wedding party table but weren't, they also served our small cake that we cut from our dessert table) that could have been our wedding planners fault and not theirs. \r\rThere were a few staff members that seemed to be having too good of a time and even a few asked to take home beer and liquor (we bought our own alcohol) which I felt was inappropriate.\r\rSurprise: They provided us with two boxed sandwiches and sides to take home after the reception (very nice late night snack). Overall I would choose them again, maybe just monitor some of that communication earlier on in the process.

Masterson's was with a doubt the best choice we made. Not only did they bring great food, but they had a great waitstaff, it included linens and they set and torn down everything at no extra cost. The reception was beautiful. They were extremely accomodating to what I wanted and I couldn't have been more pleased.

The staff at The Olmsted did an amazing job with our wedding. When we started looking for venues; I really wanted someplace that did everything. I did not want to have to worry about set-up/clean-up, rentals, serving staff, etc. The Olmsted delivered on every point. With them we did not have to worry about anything. We showed up, enjoyed ourselves and then left. The staff was incredible. The food was so delicious. The building itself is beautiful and I fell in love with it.\rThis was by far the best choice we made for our wedding. Our families are still raving about how great everything was. Brenda and her staff really are some of the best in Louisville.

Ever since my senior prom was at the Olmsted, I knew I wanted to have my wedding reception there. It was the only place we visited before booking our date. The only thing that I was nervous about was the lighting, considering that we had a day wedding in late August and I wanted to be dancing in the dark. The dance floor was in the middle foyer area and it was perfect. It seriously was everything I had dreamed of and the lighting worked out. Everything was so smooth and beautiful.

Although they are slightly pricey, I would say it worked out well in the end. The food was just as we imagined it would be and everybody there loved it. The staff was very helpful and promptly cleaned up after themselves. They made sure they helped accommodate our our overall scheme and they did it well. You wont be disappointed.

Everything was picture perfect at this venue! The director was excellent and available to answer questions from the first day until the day before the wedding. The staff on the day of was excellent and delivered the best service ever! It was much more than I imagined.

We have nothing but great things to say about Mastersons. They catered both our rehearsal dinner and our reception, and the food, service, and decor were fantastic. They have an extremely wide variety of options to suit anyone!

The Olmsted is absolutely beautiful and a great place for a wedding. The food was amazing, we had plenty of space for 230+ guests, and everything went very smoothly. We even got money back when we didn't need as many soft drinks, etc. The price tag was a little steep, but since everything was taken care of and we felt like guests at our own wedding, it was well worth it, especially since we did get back the excess money.

You couldn't ask for a better place than the Olmsted if you are looking for a beautiful, unique location with staff who go out of their way to make the experience perfect. Brenda Bush is great and they definitely proved why they win the Best of Louisville award over and over again.

The food was great, unfortunately, we didn't get any of our own appetizers. They were that good. The waitstaff was fabulous. Even though our bar was done through our event space, the waitstaff for our table went and got drinks for us because we were rushing to eat to make the rounds. They include all the table linens, flatware, dishes, and glasses with their service fee. It cuts down on the number of vendors you have to use and they have lots of options. Very easy to work with.

Our food was casual southern fare and incredibly delicious. Their staff at the event was unobtrusive, helpful and always willing to help out with any request. They even kept the bar open for extra time without charging us extra. I wouldn't use any other caterer in Louisville.

The day of the wedding the staff was wonderful. Food was great and when the bar ran out of one type of beer they quickly replaced it. The groom and I, and our parents, were well looked after. However working with Brenda, their coordinator, leading up to the event was somewhat frustrating. On more than one occassion she would not return phone calls and emails blaming her computer and the email system. When she did return calls it took her about a week minimum. Do not expect prompt communication and you won't have any issues. Day of everything was beautiful.

The staff at The Olmsted was professional and attentive to all of our needs! We even has someone on the wait staff that took care of only my hubby and me! Brenda Bush is a knowledge, sweet, and flexible coordinator. By the end of our planning, I completely trusted her judgement! The Olmsted did not nickel & dime us. All the decorations in the building we were able to use in our wedding. I would recommend this place to anyone!

They did such a WONDERFUL job from everything from the planning of the menu to the food tasting and to room setup. I didn't have to worry about ANYTHING! They also have a special person assigned to the Bride and Groom that gives you instructions on how to cut the cake and how to loop your arms for the toast.
