The team here is happy to host you for a self-guided tour of the property, so you can experience the unique beauty of the site firsthand. To further support your festivities, the estate works closely with six local catering and beverage companies for a streamlined planning process.
My husband and I just got married at Powel Crosley at the end of April and it was perfect! Our guests still can't stop raving at how beautiful of a venue it really is. We worked with JoAnna and Olivia throughout our wedding planning process and they were easy to work with and friendly. We love Powel Crosley and are so glad that this is where we got married! We could not have asked for a more perfect place to get married. The estate is stunning inside and out and the location is hard to beat. We fell in love the first time we saw the place, and we didn't need much decor to \"spruce it up\" because it is beautiful on its own. There's also a good amount of shade and a breeze off the water which was helpful in May to keep our northern guests cool outside. It is pricey and pretty much everything (even lights and the time to put them up, some rooms, etc.) is an additional cost, so keep in mind especially for larger weddings. Reviewed on 19-06-2023

We couldn’t have asked for a better wedding venue! The second we toured the Powel Crosley, we fell in love. The property is stunning, and every room in the building is beautiful - it’s so versatile for whatever you need. Also, JoAnna and Olivia were both absolutely wonderful to work with leading up to the wedding. The hardest part for us was booking - we got married on Saturday March 18th, and had to email our application EXACTLY at midnight 18 months out (and were third in line!!). So definitely something to keep in mind when planning for your day (especially during spring in Florida, and on a Saturday). On our wedding day, there was a high percent chance of rain. We had planned for dinner on the lawn, but had to move it inside just to be safe. I was a little sad about it at first, since we really wanted the lawn reception, but it ended up being so beautiful and cozy. That’s the beauty of this venue - whatever you do, it will be absolutely STUNNING! We still had our ceremony, cocktail hour, and dancing outside (it didn’t rain after all), and it was absolutely perfect. I have received so many compliments on how beautiful the venue was, and we’re so thankful we booked here! You won’t regret it. Reviewed on 29-04-2023

Kelsey Fussner(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-05-2022 We had our wedding here and I want to give the pros and cons of things I wish I knew.Pros:- It's stunning. The grounds, the history, the backdrop is all so beautiful. There isn't a bad spot for pictures. We had the ceremony by the pavilion under the trees which was smart with how hot it is out. The breeze on the bay also is key for Florida.- They communicate well and are very clear on what you can and cannot do.Cons:- There's a lot you cannot do. Read over everything for your instructions! - Your 6 caterers are great, but expect it to be expensive. It definitely feels very limiting when you can only pick places that start at $2k for just lighting if you want it. - Your venue contract may say 11-11 p.m. but that's not including the caterer. I was a little taken aback when the caterers start at about 4 hours from 6 to 10 and the party has to end by 10 for them to clear out by 11. If you want it to end by 11 or later, you have to pay. There's a lot of hidden costs and things you may have to forgo having it here, but overall, we're a low key couple and loved our experience. Shauna Barritt(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-02-2022 Gorgeous, perfect, magical, elegant…the list goes on! The Crosley offers the perfect back drop for a waterfront wedding without being a regular beach wedding with worrying about the sand. It has the bases for a variety of wedding style such as, 20s, black and white, rustic, vintage, classic, and more. I loved our wedding at the Crosley with a rustic/vintage theme having white flowers and blue and gold accent colors to pop against the building exterior color as well as the natural greenery of nature. The venue offers an easy transition to an indoor wedding if weather turns and offers a solid canvas for flowers, candles, lights, and people to make a fairytale wedding. JoAnna was a quick email away to answer any questions. Would definitely recommend the twinkle lights and chandelier over the patio and lawn to make the venue even more gorgeous as the sunsets. Guests and family stayed only 10-20 minutes away from venue in downtown Sarasota or on Lido Key and there was a variety of transportation options for the event. The venue offers several preferred catering options that allows event to be as customizable as one wishes. My recommendation is Pier 22, as we had a wonderful experience with them as the caterer. There are some rules to follow at the venue, but they are little things we could work around (such as no sparklers). We loved that we had the beautiful water view. The sunset and nighttime under the lights outside made for an absolutely stunning atmosphere. And one of my favorite things was walking down the beautiful staircase to my groom. Signed up to have our wedding here. The place is nice, but the value is horrible. I'm not generally a major critic, but this is definitely one of those venues that finds a way to nickel and dime you for everything. In addition, would NOT recommend this place if you have a wedding larger than 75 people. (Can't make everyone fit inside and see what's going on, you have to break them up across rooms which ended up being VERY weird for a wedding.) You are rrquired to use their list of vendors and they take a cut of that too. Need a cake? They'll take a cut. Bringing in decor? They take a cut. Need a tent? You can't get it yourself (quote was $1800 for me personally), you have to go through a vendor (quote from the vendor was $8,000-$10,000...you read that right... wasn't a typo). Why the price difference? \"We have to supervise the company setting it up and taking it down and make sure it doesn't hit any power lines.\" Then the PC takes their 10% on top of that and will charge you for every minute their partner vendors show up early and every minute they're gathering up the stuff late. Operationally, there are two bathrooms. Your wedding WILL have a major line at the bathrooms and they weren't well cleaned either. We put money down here and paid vendors, when we ended up being quoted 40% over our budget after all was said and done and we were 3 months away from the wedding, we changed venues to an equally nice, but more much more accommodating venue in the area. They couldn't give us a single dollar back \"per policy\"... I didn't even mention the red tide, don't get me started there.... (Don't think I wasn't stressing about it... But this place had no trouble putting us in position to be in financial ruin with the nickel and diming... Not a great way to start off a marriage for me, or retirement for my parents in a few years.) Look elsewhere. Reviewed on 10-09-2018
Rachael Wesmiller(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 05-05-2018 After touring the Powel Crosley I immediately knew I HAD to have it as my venue. It is gorgeous! It was a little over my budget but after having dreams about it, I knew it was meant to be-- and it was totally worth it! It is right on the water which makes for amazing sunset pictures. (and without all the sand at the beach front venues). I loved the venue So you definitely have my recommendation!!! I just want to write a few things to make other brides aware: you are given the WHOLE estate (AND ITS GORGEOUS INSIDE AND OUT) --it has a bridal suite and a suite for groomsmen to get ready also. You have from noon until 10 pm (hard out and cleaned by 11), but can purchase extra hours if you need. ( I kept as is, and had enough time) but I know some brides may need more time to get ready for hair and MU, so just a consideration. It has bathrooms for guests -- so no renting portapottys--YUCK! You can have dinner inside or outside, which leaves you options for rain. The inside is air conditioned, which helps in Florida as you probably know! The powel crosley has its own liquor license and controls the bar for you. They are very accommodating for signature drinks (We had margaritas and Old fashioned) and they were definitely reasonable on prices. They offer a range of drinks for you to choose from from 4 dollars a drink and up, and you can choose from open bar, cash bar, or a mix of both. I will say they do not talk to you about your bar options until 30-45 days before your event (I wanted to get it all figured out 6 months in advance because I am type A, but was unable to.) You will need to have your own \"wedding/event\" insurance, so budget in an extra $100 for that... this was an unexpected expense the final month leading to my wedding. But overall such a great experience and I wish I could do it again!!! Reviewed on 16-06-2018

Stacy Spencer(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-03-2017 From the moment we came across the Powel Crosley in our online search for a wedding venue, we knew it was the one. We actually secured our date and paid a deposit months before we even laid eyes on the venue, as we live out of state. I will admit that the initial stages of the planning process were made difficult by the fact that the venue is owned by the county and managed by office staff who are not on site, but once we got closer to our wedding date, we were assigned an event manager (Maribeth), who was incredible!! We talked by phone about several of the details weeks in advance and she was on site a few hours before our ceremony to make sure we had everything we needed, including extra bottles of champagne for the bridal suite. The majority of the design and planning was done by our caterer/event planning vendor (not affiliated with the Crosley in any way), so it really isn't necessary to have regular contact with anyone from the venue months in advance. The one unique thing about the Crosley is that they must provide and serve all of the alcohol for the event, so that is one area in which you must work closely with the site manager to choose your alcohol package and secure payment. The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous in its natural state. The grounds are beautiful. If you get lucky like we did, you will have an incredible view of the sunset over Sarasota Bay during your cocktail hour/reception and dance the night away with your guests under the stars (and the beautiful chandelier we rented). There isn't much you need to do to decorate the venue aside from flowers and table settings because it is so beautiful on its own. I wish we could go back and do it all over again! We paid extra so we could get into the venue 2 hours early to begin decorating and do hair and make-up. However there was little coordination between the venue and the caters/coordinators. The tables were not set up early, and the poor wedding planner had to put them up herself. The linens didn't arrive until 3 hours after we got there. The outdoor area where the ceremony was performed was never swept at any point, and there was debris all around the edges. Just prior to the ceremony, they experienced a very visible plumbing problem which was serviced with the plumbing trucks etc, in full view by our welcome table, which all was happening as our guests arrived and were being seated. No one from the Powel ever said a word to us about this. The venue serving staff never served water with dinner, and guests were told when asked, that if they wanted water they could \"the water stations\" (what if we hadn't had paid extra for water stations which were placed for our guests to use before the ceremony)? After all the planning and expense we did not feel a welcoming feeling. More like they had to \"put up\" with us. Not exactly what we expected. Reviewed on 20-11-2016
Ashleigh Gerow(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 22-10-2016 We just had our wedding at the Powel Crosley and loved it! Picture were beautiful and got tons of compliments from everyone. Insider tip: The bar was hard to budget for since they charge you on consumption instead of a flat rate per person so keep that in mind if you have drinkers attending. We went over the deposit amount basically after cocktail hour. Also, it would have been nice if the rental fee would have included more (i.e. chairs or furniture). But overall we loved venue and they were easy to work with. Reviewed on 05-11-2016
Kelly Feerick(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-10-2016 We celebrated our wedding last weekend at the Powel Crosley Estate. Although the Estate is very beautiful and I would recommend the actual location to anyone looking for an outdoor/indoor venue on the water, the customer service here is not great at all. They are just not accommodating. When we first booked the Powel Crosley Estate, we were pleased with the venue price, but learned as we got closer to the day of all of the hidden costs and rules. For example, you must pay 20% for ala cart items such as furniture, tables, lighting, etc. We had to use their onsite caterer, which was Milan Catering. The food was actually very good, but they do not coordinate well together. They had no idea where to place items and their timelines were not synchronized. For instance, if you wanted to add an extra 30 minutes to the venue, you had to add an extra hour to the caterer. The venue's bartenders were also very rude to our wedding guests, especially their manager. Accusing guests of being rude and threatening to close the bar down. They are very strict on carding your guests, so if your 30-year-old friend did not bring their ID, they were not able to drink and therefore were very extremely rude about it. Also, similar to a previous review, you do have to wait 30 days before your wedding date to get information about your bar, signature drink, layout, etc. This was very frustrating having to wait. This review would be less than 3 stars, however the venue itself was very beautiful and the caterer and caterer's wedding planner did a phenomenal job. Reviewed on 27-10-2016

Francesca Puglisi(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-02-2016 Could not be happier with how our wedding turned out at The Powel Crosley Estate! I had been dreaming about this venue for some time and secured a Saturday this past February. The staff was responsive to my questions and things ran very smoothly. The house and the grounds are wonderful and you have so much flexibility and space to do what you want. We were supposed to get married outside on the back patio but it rained on our wedding day so we had to move it to the grand room inside. Still beautiful and intimate. Luckily we tented the lawn for the reception so could keep that as planned. All the guests loved the venue and thought it was so unique. FYI, if you have a group larger than 100, plan on utilizing the outside for your reception as the space indoors is limited for table seating. Reviewed on 13-03-2016
Sydney Monahan(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 29-11-2015 ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! I am still so in love with this place! It was a beautiful home with fantastic views! Working with the office was a bit of a downer, but nothing that would make me regret this venue.\r\rThere were too many times when I had a question, and it was no one's job to answer it. Example. We were planning on having a Build Your Own Bar for our signature drink, and no one could answer questions about it until I was assigned a Day of Organizer... I later learned you don't get assigned one until 30 days before your event. That is just one example that made my planning process way more stressful than it needed to be. \r\rAnother mistake or miscommunication was one that was made on the wedding day. Our cocktail hour was held in the wrong area. We were planning on having our cocktail our inside with the bar being on the Loggia. However, the bar was placed under the pavilion, thus drawing people to stay outside. It was very unfortunate because this caused a lot of our inside decorations to be obsolete, as well as making our pictures on the water have an audience. Of course everyone wants to say hello and don't realize cocktail hour is meant as filler entertainment while the bride and groom run off for pictures. \r\rThe day was still magical and I am so happy with our choice of The Powel Crosley! Liana Reyes(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-12-2015 We fell in love with the Powel Crosley Estate online and I immediately booked an appointment for my mother to visit. My husband and I live in Virginia (I am from Florida, but have no relation to Sarasota). Once my mother confirmed it was as perfect in person as it appeared in photos, we booked our flights with my in-laws. It was love at first sight! We walked out of there signing an agreement to book the Crosley and decided on 12/30/15. \r\rThe venue itself is stunning! The landscaping, architecture, and water view, on top of the fact that it faces west so you can get the most incredible sunsets (fortunately we did) makes it an ideal location for a beautiful, romantic wedding. \r\rIt's a bit of gamble with weather, but if you get lucky like we did, you end up with a ceremony by the pavilion under gorgeous Florida trees, a cocktail hour indoors so guests can see the house, a reception on the lawn with a romantic sunset dinner, and dancing on the terrace under the starts. \r\rEvery guest, every single guest, said it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever been too. And it was. Our event manager Maribeth was amazing too! She was all over the Crosley making sure our event went without a hitch. And while they have a list of vendors to choose from, pick the vendors they choose for their events (Milan Catering, Grant Hemond DJs, and Flowers by Fudgie) - we did and our wedding was perfection. \r\rThank you Powel Crosley for giving us the dreamiest, most beautiful wedding venue we could have ever asked for. Rachel McCalip(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-06-2015 The Powel Crosley Estate is a gorgeous location to have a wedding. I moved to Florida from Texas about six months before getting engaged and planning the wedding. I live in Fort Lauderdale, but searched all over Florida for the best venues and prices. I wanted to get married with either the beach or water in the background, but I did not want to get married directly on the beach and did not want to be in sand. This ruled out a ton of places. The Powel Crosley has beautiful indoor and outdoor spots for ceremonies and receptions. We chose to have our ceremony overlooking the bay, directly facing the horizon. We had a small, intimate wedding of about 40 guests. All of our family/guests had to come in from out of town, so we were able to keep our numbers small. The inside of the mansion is beautiful, gorgeous lighting and is very big and open. If you don't want to add much decor to your wedding, you definitely don't have to... it is so gorgeous, it doesn't take much. This venue was definitely the best for the price, for me. We got married on a Sunday, which also lowered the cost about $1,000 or so. We used the catering company that works with them, Milan Catering. The only thing I will say is the Powel Crosley is a very busy venue and they are booked nonstop. I had to wait a couple months longer than I wanted to to get married for this reason. [In my opinion, it was worth it though.] They were great about keeping up with emails, assign specific people to you throughout the process. I advise on going for the tour if you are around the area. If you are planning a destination wedding, don't worry, it is as pretty in person as it is online. We were very happy with our venue and would choose to have our wedding there again. We got many compliments from our guests on how unique the place was. Powel Crosley, you are lovely. Reviewed on 15-07-2015

Susie Garcia(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-06-2014 I stumbled across this venue on Pintrest and immediately fell in love! Once we visited the venue we knew it was everything we wanted, and when we learned it was built during the prohibition era we decided right then it was going to be a 1920s themed wedding. The location perfectly allows itself for a destination wedding as not only is the airport across the street, but there are two other airports within an hour drive of the Crosley. It's also a perfect spot to watch the breathtaking sunset over the water. The venue will manage all of the alcohol, and provides tables that you can use in lieu of renting. The only downside to this historic site is that there are a number of things you aren't allowed to do like placing rose petals (fake and real) on the ground, or having any kind of sparklers or sky lanterns, and no confetti just to name a few. My contact on the day-of was Juan and he was great making sure we had what we needed and keeping me informed on the running bar tab. The room I got ready in was spacious and gorgeously equipped with a couple vanities, a vintage couch and stunning chandelier. The venue itself is so beautiful that the decorations needed are minimal. There are also numerous picture-worthy spots at the venue such as the bamboo shoots, the big tree, the Ship Room, by the water, etc. All of my guests were in awe of how gorgeous the venue was. In fact, many of them keep asking me about the venue so that they can suggest it to their engaged friends. All in all, the Crosley Estate will leave you and your guests with an unforgettable experience! Reviewed on 18-08-2014

You can dine inside the romantic historic home or outside on the expansive lawn. The property is very secluded from the street and it has a very romantic feel. You defintely don't feel like you are at a reception hall and you are free to personalize your event any way you like. I loved how unique the space is. I certainly had never been to a wedding like ours and I beleive it has everything to do with the location. We had our ceremony outside under the pavillion and then went inside for a romantic candlelit dinner with the fireplaces on and then danced the night away on the outdoor patio under the stars. It was really in my opinion- the perfect venue.;First you have to hire everything yourself. The Crosley provides some tables at no additonal cost- but chairs and other items have to individually rented as well as finding outside caterers that can comply with the limited kitchen set up that the Crosley has. Additionally we ran into a pretty big problem with the only staff member that was overseeing our event. She behaved inappropriatly to guests on a number of occassions and my father as well as other guests had to deal with her towards the end of the evening. I do not think its a relection on the Crosley as a whole as other staff had been more than accomodating and the administation worked quickly to recitfy this problem after the wedding. It did however bring a negative element to my wedding and to the memories of some of our guests. Reviewed on 03-09-2008
