The Promise Gardens of the Adirondacks Reviews
Grace & Dom C.(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-07-2022 The Promise Gardens is the most magical and beautiful wedding venue! We had our wedding reception there on July 16th, 2022 and it was the most perfect place for us! Terri was an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the entire wedding planning process. She maintained open communication along with her Client Experience Manager Yana, answered our questions quickly and efficiently, and made excellent vendor recommendations. The property itself is truly so unique and gorgeous! With the breathtaking gardens, the mountain views, rustic barns, chic white dining tent, and expansive lawn, The Promise Gardens has so much to offer. We had our cocktail hour out on the lawn with fun lawn games and a bar car, formal dances under the enchanting walkway, family style dinner in the dining tent, and dancing & drinks in the rustic barn. Guests ended the night by the fire pit with some late night snacks. During our venue walkthrough the Friday before our wedding, Terri was there to greet us while planting beautiful new flowers down the stone walkways! She transformed her property into the magical fairytale wedding we've always dreamed of. She consistently makes updates to the property that enhance its natural beauty even more and you can tell she truly cares about the couples who book with her. She was there the day of too with a big smile on her face! Our guests have said our wedding was the best wedding they have ever been to! Thank you so much for helping to make our wedding the most magical and lovely day! We're so grateful for The Promise Gardens, Terri and her entire team! Reviewed on 01-10-2022

This venue is a hidden gem! The grounds are gorgeous, the on site staff is helpful and knowledgeable on how the venue runs, and overall a great experience. We recently coordinated a wedding there and we couldn't have had a smoother day. All due to the vendor recommendations and the owner. Terri is incredibly helpful and you can tell she takes pride in her venue. It is picturesque. She also helped us with an item being left behind and was so incredibly patient and kind in helping with that! Thank you to Promise Gardens, Terri, Rachel & Bridget- you all made the day for our team and our clients seamless! Reviewed on 23-09-2023

The Promise Gardens was the most beautiful venue we ever could have imagined for our wedding. The beauty of the property truly exceeded every expectation we ever could have had. Terri truly has a talent for gardening and clearly had a wonderful vision for her property that she has brought to life for all her guests to enjoy. Terri and her team made us feel like family and were always quick to respond with a text or call for any of our questions. So many of our guests said it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever been to, not to mention the location in the Adirondacks makes for a very unique wedding experience for our guests. The property feels so private and yet you're only 10 minutes away from Lake George and 40 from Saratoga (where our guests stayed). The Promise Gardens recommended vendors list was so helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed working with each vendor we chose.I would recommend the Promise Gardens over and over again. 10/10 was the perfect wedding. Thank you Terri and the Team! :) Reviewed on 14-09-2023

Jade & Jim Schult(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-06-2022 Where do we even begin!! June 24, 2022 was magical, dreamy & simply perfect. Choosing the Promise Gardens as our wedding venue was the easiest decision by far. This venue is absolutely breathtaking in every way and fit our vision in location, layout & overall look. We had our ceremony outside looking out at the three sister mountains, cocktail hour on the patio, reception under the tent & dancing in the barn. The movement between spaces on the property was very appealing to us. I (Jade, the bride,) have been in love with this venue even before we got engaged & I'm so delighted that we were able to make our dream to have a wedding there come true. We are so appreciative of the partnership with our coordinator Yana, who helped make this planning process as smooth as possible. Yana was always willing to jump on a zoom call, phone call or respond promptly to our texts. Terri, the owner is so organized, friendly and detail-oriented. She truly cares for her property, and works above and beyond to make sure the event runs smoothly and that the bride & groom as well as the guests are happy. Our guests were (and continue to be) in awe of the beauty of the venue and details of the day. We can't stop smiling just thinking about how beautiful the day was for us and for our families who traveled near and far. Alex Pullen(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-05-2022 I cannot say enough positive word about this vendor. First of all, the grounds are sheer perfection. No one would not want to be married here. There are indoor and outdoor options, which makes it the perfect all weather location (though the ideal is to be married outdoors because the mountains are so special). Second of all, Terri and her team are REMARKABLE. So nice, comforting and HELPFUL. If this location is an option for you, GO WITH THEM! You will not be disappointed in the least. Maureen Foy(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-10-2021 We started looking at venues in the Lake George area last August. The Promise Gardens was the second place we looked at. As soon as we stepped on the property we were amazed by the beauty around us! The rustic chic barns, meticulously maintained gardens, and the natural beauty of the three sisters mountain sides was just breath taking. Chatting with Terri sealed the deal for us! She is warm, welcoming and very knowledgeable for all things wedding in the area. Before we left the property we knew this was the place for us to start our lives together. Over the year, Terri was incredibly helpful to us—helping us secure some rooms in lake George (impossible on a holiday weekend) and even calling around when our transportation server bailed on us 48 hours before or wedding! She was truly a pleasure to work with and you can tell she cares so much about the property, her couples and creating the most perfect day. I truly can’t say enough good things about her and the promise gardens. There was many upgrades over the year prior to our wedding. The stone walkways, a new arbor, off the barn porches, beautiful garden area —So many people told me it was the most beautiful venue they have ever been to and I must say it is true. Terri takes meticulous care of the gardens and the grounds and has done an incredible amount of work over the past two years to renovate and update. This place is a photographer’s and couple’s dream come true with beautiful little nooks and crannies all over the grounds, gorgeous views of the mountains in the background, and a wonderful canopied walkway complete with twinkling lights. One of our favorite things about The Promise Gardens was the slight separation between dining and dancing areas, allowing those who would prefer to socialize the ability to do so without straining to hear each other but also being close enough to the fun to feel included. We highly recommend The Promise Gardens! Thank you Terri and Danielle! Reviewed on 16-09-2021

Joelle Fingerhut(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-09-2020 We signed the contract for our wedding 2 years before the date. We had a change in our financial situation and realized we could no longer afford the venue. We informed B&B 1.5 years in advance of the date that we had booked that we would need to cancel our booking. While I completely understand we signed a contract saying the 3,800 deposit is non-negotiable, I am shocked that she has refused to reimburse us a dime of this deposit. She has ignored all emails. I am pretty sure that our original date of September 26, 2020 has been rebooked for this venue, so I find it inexcusable and disrespectful she will not give us ANY of our $3,800 deposit back. I would not recommend doing business with this company for this reason- too risky in case something changes, with no understanding or sympathy. Reviewed on 09-02-2020
Martha Kirkpatrick(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-07-2019 My wife and I were searching for a rustic and charming Adirondack location for our wedding, so we were enamored with Burlap and Beams the second we stumbled upon its website. The pristine mountain backdrop and perfect balance of understated elegance in the barns made us feel right at home! Terri was thoughtful and extremely helpful as we consulted with her, providing some valuable tips during planning. We booked the venue over a year in advance, and each time we visited we were thrilled to see Terri's exciting new updates - from the small touches such as tulle accents draped from the ceiling, to bolder statement pieces like the gorgeous live edge bar top. The venue was easy to personalize, so we incorporated our own designs into the decor. Looking at photos from weddings both before and after ours at B&B, we felt that each was unique, appreciating that it was not a one-size-fits-all experience. Opting for simpler centerpieces and flowers, we chose to let the natural beauty of the venue speak for itself. It did not disappoint! Guests were raving about the place, enjoying games of corn hole, sitting and chatting around the fire pit, and soaking in truly remarkable views. We felt that Burlap and Beams reflected our style impeccably and would highly recommend it! Reviewed on 20-08-2019
Eileen Patterson(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-07-2019 As soon as we looked at the website, we were sold on Burlap & Beams! And even more so when we visited Terri's property for a tour. Throughout the process, Terri was responsive and helpful with any inquiries we had. We knew we wanted a barn wedding and were impressed when we saw what Terri's package included. Many barns require several additional vendors, but because Terri's included tables, dinner chairs, ceremony chairs, the arbor, the stunning lighting all over the property, the dinner tent, etc., we felt the price was a great value. We used mostly her preferred vendors and that helped everything come together so smoothly. Terri's venue is truly unique and gave our guests an experience they would never have had anywhere else - our guests were able to dance when they wanted to, take a break outside or in one of the smaller barns (and get a break from the heat!), play some cornhole, or sit at the firepit - this provided exactly the relaxed, but still elegant event we were looking for. Tip: highly recommend hiring a wedding coordinator for this venue. This helped all the vendors stay on the same page and ensured that Terri's property was left the way we found it (so we didn't have to worry about it!). Thank you Terri for all of the work you put into your property to make Burlap & Beams a one-of-a-kind wedding venue! Reviewed on 20-08-2019

Lorin Kurachek(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-10-2018 My husband and I just recently got married at Burlap and Beams on 10/6/2018. This was the only venue we looked at it well over a year ago and I knew instantly it was perfect. The combination of an exquisite background of the lower Adirondacks, stunning renovated barns, and an owner who puts so much care and love into her property made booking Burlap and Beams a no-brainer. All of my questions over the past year were promptly answered by Terri, not only with information but with a personalized genuineness that made me feel like I wasn’t just “another bride.” Over the course of the year, many upgrades were made to the already beautiful barns such as a brand new bar, upgraded chandeliers and lights, and more gorgeous plants and flowers than you can imagine (all planted and maintained by Terri.)The day of our wedding was pure magic. The property was so gorgeous under the overcast, fall day. The fog over the mountains behind where we were married, combined with the foliage of the mountains, was epic and surreal. Terri switched out some beautiful hydrangea garlands over the cocktail hour space because she wanted fresh flowers for the day. (I’ll note that every time I have been to the barns she is out and about getting her hands dirty with planting and decorating.) The space is interactive multiple buildings. It is the perfect size, too. It didn’t feel too big for a smaller wedding of 80, such as ours. It is also large enough to hold many more people, without it feeling too cramped. The main barn is literally done for you; you don’t have to do a THING. The lights, garlands over the brand new bar and on the walls, and new lighting create this amazing atmosphere. While she used to have a huge mason jar chandelier, she upgraded this past season to these gorgeous wrought iron chandeliers. With that said, even though this venue is a barn and it’s name may have the word “burlap” in in, it is by no means your run of the mill generic “rustic barn” style venue. Terri most definitely knows how to update the barn as the seasons change and different wedding decor goes in and out of style (as well as maintain the staples that remain season after season.) Burlap and Beams also has a barn that is filled with decorations. We used wood slabs for our centerpieces, chalkboard easels, and a number of other decorative pieces that were all there for us to use. In addition to the barns, the property extends to a flowing brook surrounded by trees. There are hanging lights scattered throughout the trees, as well. This made for an EPIC photo location, it was so gorgeous. I am so happy we found Burlap and Beams. Terri is wonderful and an amazing owner of this gorgeous property. The value is excellent and if you are someone who visions a more DIY-style wedding where you can opt for something other than a pre-packaged plan, Burlap and Beams is for you. Reviewed on 16-10-2018

Terri (the owner) was a pleasure to work with and was there for us every step of the way! The Mountain View’s make for amazing photos during your ceremony and throughout the day/evening. Terri works so hard to maintain the grounds and to say they are beautiful would be an understatement! The landscaping is absolutely gorgeous and adds to the beauty of the venue. She also is always working on updates! This year a brand new bar was built in which it wound up creating an even bigger dance floor that everyone at my wedding definitely utilized! :) Along with that, she recently got brand new chairs that made the dining area under the white tent even more stunning! There is also another barn besides the main big one. That barn I used for a bridal suite! I felt that it was perfect being that we had such a big bridal party! There is also a small white little barn that is adorable for pictures of the bride to get ready! I can’t forget to mention the amazing lighting that Is set up in the tent and the barn! At night, it lights the place up beautifully! If you are looking for a barn wedding that is different, with beautiful surroundings and views, this is it! Jeanne Wood(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-07-2018 Burlap and Beams was the perfect venue for our wedding! From the beautiful rustic barns, to the mountainous backdrop, to the wonderful landscaping, everything was gorgeous! Everything leading up to our wedding went very smoothly. We booked last minute, one of the last dates available for 2018. Terri was very accommodating, especially since we had such a short amount of time to book all of our vendors. She was very responsive whenever I had questions, both via email and text message. Don't let the initial 'rules and regulations' that she has in place scare you away. Everything that is asked of those attending or working the event are all in place to keep this wonderful venue the way it is....wonderful!The barns and outdoor spaces all have beautiful decor, which allowed us not only to save money but time as well. There was no need to worry about decorations as everything she has already in place is amazing. There are so many special places to take pictures. The newly renovated bar area was top notch. The lighting and flower arrangement above the bar, the bar top and the canoe hanging on the wall were all nice touches. She does a wonderful job keeping the place beautiful. We were one of the unlucky...or lucky....couples to have it rain during our outdoor ceremony. As a result of this we instantly needed a new plan to move the ceremony into the large barn. This was done without a hitch....other than being wet! Terri came to check on me to be sure I wasn't having a meltdown. This just goes to show you what a wonderful person she truly is. She puts so much heart and soul into this venue. It was a real pleasure to be able to work with her and get married at such a memorable place! Reviewed on 13-08-2018
Emma Hans(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-12-2018 Burlap and Beams was the perfect venue for our summer wedding! The scenery is unbelievable; from the beautiful mountains in the background as we said our vows under the greenery filled arch, to the spacious patio where we had our first dance, the charming, rustic barns where our guests enjoyed the celebration, and of course the incredible gardens and landscaping. All of the perfectly curated spaces make for incredible pictures, which was something that was very important to us when choosing a venue. We were able to have our first look by the secluded creek on property, and we took photos posing in and around the beautiful barns and gardens. The owner, Terri, was so easy to work with and was very accomodating. You can tell how much she truly takes pride in making every couple’s day the best it can be. The attention to detail that she has put into the venue is amazing, and that really makes it a one of a kind place to have a wedding. All of our guests were amazed at how absolutely stunning the venue was (with minimal decor provided by us). We looked at many venues prior to finding Burlap and Beams, and one thing that really struck us was how impersonal and bare they all seemed to be, and how much work we would need to put into decorating them. When we first toured the barns, we could see ourselves getting married there just the way it was. Everything was so beautiful just as it was!We also love the layout of the venue. It has such a great flow to it! We were able to use the second barn as a whiskey bar and have a bonfire (complete with s’mores) after dinner. Our party of 140 guests never felt cramped or crowded as people were able to spread out to the different areas during the reception. The bridal barn was a perfect space for me and my bridesmaids to get ready in, complete with a big couch and chairs that were great for taking photos on, while my husband and the groomsmen enjoyed hanging out in the second barn prior to the ceremony. We could not have asked for a more perfect wedding. Thank you so much to Terri and Burlap and Beams for helping us create an unforgettable celebration! Reviewed on 06-08-2018

My husband and I got married at Burlap and Beams this past weekend and that's exactly what it was, the most magical night. Our guests were and still are raving about how amazing the grounds were. After months of searching around for the perfect venue that wasn't just your average catering hall we came across Burlap and met with the owner, Terri, and fell in love immediately. Terri only had one date left which didn't exactly go with our original plan, but we immediately said we'd take it and it was the best decision we could have made. It was everything we had dreamed of and so much more. Terri was so accommodating throughout our entire planning experience and answered every question that popped up almost immediately. She never left us guessing about anything and helped to calm any nerves that arose throughout the last couple of weeks. I can not say enough good things about this venue or Terri, if you or anyone you know is looking for the perfect wedding venue, do yourself a favor and book Burlap and Beams!! Reviewed on 06-06-2018
Alexandra Esler(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-10-2016 I want to start off this review by saying that this is a beautiful venue. My husband & I wanted to get married here, and were so excited to set our date. We signed the contracts in April of 2016 for a Sept 2017 date. Little did we know, at the time we signed the paperwork, I was pregnant! We found out just a few weeks later that we were expecting our amazing now 1 1/2 year old boy in December of 2016 and our wedding plans changed. We decided to elope before our son would be born. My husband called Terri to explain the situation & cancel our date. At that point, she stated our $2,000 deposit was not refundable but she would let us know if the date was booked by another couple and then reconsider giving us back our deposit. I would understand if she had been holding the date and told other couples for several months that it was not available, but that was not the case here. This was just a few weeks time. We cancelled our contract in May of 2016 for a September 2017 date, so almost a year and a half out, giving her plenty of time to re-book. We gave Terri a few months to find another couple to take the date, & I followed up with her in August of 2016. At that point, she stated she still had not booked the date and the deposit was still not refundable. We never heard back from her again after that email. I understand that there are things that Terri has to pay for on a regular basis, whether or not weddings are held at the venue, such as the tent and restrooms. I also understand that we signed a contract that stated that the $2000 deposit was non-refundable. What I don't understand is her inability to be flexible and come to some sort of mutually beneficial agreement with us given the circumstances and the short period of time in which everything happened. We would have been happy with a 50% refund of $1000. I never wrote a review and just let the situation be because we had so much going on, but looking back I shouldn't have let $2000 go so easily. Alanna K(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 08-07-2017 There are no words to describe how amazing our experience was with Terri and Burlap & Beams! From the moment my (now) husband and I stepped foot on the property we knew this was the venue for us. I knew I wanted a rustic barn type setting and I must have visited every single barn in the tri-state area - but none held a candle to Burlap & Beams. First of all, not only are there several barns including a getting ready barn for the bridal party with a beautiful purple couch and fitted with beautiful antique mirrors and ribbons and a beautiful vanity (perfect for pictures!) but there are so many lights and decorations included as well as brand new bathrooms Terri recently had installed (when we booked the venue it was just a deluxe trailer which was still better than most other barn venues that require you to rent your own port-a-potty or trailer) so the bathrooms were an amazing surprise. The backdrop against the Adirondack mountains could not be beat. It was so nice having outdoor space, indoor space, the tent, AND the firepit which was a hit with the guests who are smokers. Kids could run around freely and no one ever felt on top of each other.. It is just an all around beautiful venue and the value you get for what is included like the chairs, tables, etc. literally cannot be beat. Terri works SO hard to make sure everything goes off smoothly - she deserves all of the success in the world for all of her hard work and dedication to making Burlap & Beams a dream wedding venue. We rented the rental house a few hundred feet up the road that was recommended on her site for us and our wedding party so the party could continue after 10pm - it was super convenient and a wonderfully spacious house for our wedding weekend rehearsal dinner and brunch. When we left the day after our wedding on Sunday afternoon we passed by B&B and Terri was outside putting a fresh coat of paint on the fence at the venue - she is out of this world!! 5 stars aren't enough! Thank you Terri! Reviewed on 02-08-2017
