The Refuge Golf Club is a beautiful wedding venue in Oak Grove, MN. Christa & Lisa are our on-site wedding coordinators. Between the two of them they have 12+ years planning events and weddings. They have coordinated at least 500 weddings over the years. Knowing they have a wide range of experience in the field will ensure you have a well-executed event! Our beautiful clubhouse features scenic views, a large (private) completely covered patio for your social hour, a full-service banquet kitchen and bar, a large dance floor, tables, chairs, custom table linens, a wedding suite, and all the special items you need. For on-site ceremonies, you can choose between the pavilion or the patio. While the pavilion is set against a lush green lawn surrounded by beautiful mature trees and seasonal flowers, the patio overlooks our 18th hole and provides shelter in case of rain. We also offer an indoor cozy fireplace setting for winter ceremonies! We can't wait to meet you and tell you more about all we have to offer!

Lisa was so helpful and made the experience wonderful. From the tour of the venue to the big day, she was there for any questions and to help in any way! The venue catering staff were also amazing. We had so many compliments on the food, and service. It was an easy choice of venue, a great package deal, and honesty on what prices are and creating a unique package specific to your wants and needs for your special day. The Refuge also shares recommendations for other vendors they've worked with in the past, we used a couple of them which made the process so easy. Again, Lisa was amazing along with the catering staff. Can't say enough good things, and wish we could have a replay of our special day!

Our wedding day was perfect and effortless!!! Thanks to the absolutely fantastic staff and service we never had to worry about a thing. From initial planning to our actual wedding day Lisa helped us every step of the way. The Refuge Golf club had everything taken care of and for a very affordable price(relatively speaking) we feel they have amazing value. The venue was cozy and perfect. The food options are plentiful and absolutely delicious. We were most thrilled and very happy with the excellent service from all the kitchen staff! Thanks to Lisa and her Excellent planning we didn't have to worry and nothing was missed at all. Highly recommend!!!

We recently were married at the Refuge on November 10. It was a shorter engagement and a smaller wedding. Lisa at the Refuge was amazing, and I booked this venue due to her. She is responsive, knowledgeable, and wonderful to work with. The day of the event she made everything seamless from beginning to end. My guests raved about the food, a few guests saying the steak was one of the best they ever had. The bartender was amazing, and did a great job taking care of our family and loved ones. Overall, I would 100% recommend the Refuge to anyone looking for that special touch!!

We couldn't have asked for much more during our wedding at The Refuge. Our coordinator, Lisa, was amazing with very quickly answering all of our questions before the event (and there were a lot!) and also with helping us decide on the best ways to remain within our budget. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and our photos were definitely enhanced by the beautiful scenery.

The Refuge was a great place to get married! The staff were so upfront about everything from the beginning. We talked about prices, available dates, and rain options all at the tour. We toured other places but were immediately taken in by their honesty and support. All of the staff there were amazing! We worked with Lisa as our coordinator and she was great to answer all of our questions leading up to the day - and we had a lot of them! They were easy to communicate with and we always got quick responses. We brought up possible ideas and scenarios and they made us feel comfortable while also giving their honest feedback and suggestions. They have done this so many times and seen it all so there isn't much that will phase them. We got so many compliments on the food and the overall service from the waitstaff and bartenders. The space itself was exactly what we needed with the ceremony under the gazeebo only a few steps from the main building. The flowers and overall landscape of the whole property was so beautiful and made for some amazing pictures. We got a perfect sunny day and the giant windows in the reception hall brought in so much light! We also asked for the string lights to be hung from the beams and they were also gorgeous. We had one small hiccup on the day where the photobooth we rented from them wasn't working properly. Lisa took it upon herself to tell us and find a new vendor if we approved. She found one the SAME DAY and made sure they had a meal and a seat. That could have been a huge bummer but she fixed the problem for us! They only have 1 getting ready room at the venue so we decided to get mostly ready off site and then just get dressed at the venue. The outside firepit and porch/tables were very appreciated by our guests so they had somewhere to be if they didn't want to be inside with the music all night. We brought corn hole to set up on the porch and it was a hit! Overall we would highly recommend this venue to anyone who wants amazing service and food at a beautiful venue for a price that was hard to find around the Twin Cities.

The Refuge Golf Club was an amazing venue! It was beautiful and reasonably priced! The service was great we had a little over 200 people and they got the food out so quickly and it tasted wonderful! The outdoor options and indoor are both great! We got married outside on the lawn and it was perfect! We highly highly recommend!!

The Refuge Golf Club was an amazing venue! It was beautiful and reasonably priced! The service was great we had a little over 200 people and they got the food out so quickly and it tasted wonderful! The outdoor options and indoor are both great! We got married outside on the lawn and it was perfect! We highly highly recommend!!

This venue is so naturally pretty! From the wood ceilings, the fireplace, all the way down to the chairs around the tables! It's so pretty year around. The food was AMAZING! Highly recommend the meat table with the prime rib. Lisa was our venue coordinator and she was so helpful and with me every step of the day including during the wedding day! She is so accommodating and works hard to make sure your day is exactly how you want it!

We received many compliments from guests on how beautiful the venue was and how smoothly everything went. We got married in March and the venue was perfect. There were so many great places for photos both inside and outside. Lisa, the wedding coordinator, was truly amazing and so helpful during the whole planning process, as well as on the wedding day. She was a lifesaver and went above and beyond to make sure our day went smoothly. Lastly, the food was amazing! We received many compliments from our guests on how delicious the food was! We decided the Refuge Golf Club was a great spot for us to host our wedding back in September. Krista made things SO easy as she pretty much doubled as an event coordinator and I couldn't be happier with the turn out. The weather was unpredictable as it rained all morning but turned out to be a sunny warm day. The one thing I would recommend to anyone getting married here is the utilize all of the linen options they have! It was great to choose colors beforehand. I also hired a day of coordinator for just setting up decor and taking it down, that was by far the best decision I had made. Danielle Swanson Events is fantastic for that and very reasonable. The food was great! We chose the mango salsa pork chop and the sirloin steak. CHOOSE two potatoes, we did roasted and mashed and man they were both amazing. All in all, this is a GREAT place to get married.

I can't recommend The Refuge Golf Club enough! Our ceremony was at a church so my review is based on the reception but they do offer a ceremony option as well. We had Lisa Morin as our wedding coordinator. She was amazing to work with! She has background and experience and it showed! She was so helpful and gave us a lot of insight on various things that we would have never thought of while we were planning. During the reception, she noticed our desserts were going and went ahead and saved us one of our special pumpkin cookies to bring home, it was so thoughtful! The Refuge Golf Club itself is gorgeous! Even with minimal decorating it looks beautiful. There is plenty of parking and space both inside & outside. We brought yard games to keep kids busy & it worked great! The bon fire was also a huge hit, it was nice for a chilly fall night. The food though, the food was amazing! We went with plated dinners (oven roasted chicken, apple mango pork chop & fettuccini alfredo (vegetarian)). Our guests kept coming up to us throughout the night and telling us how great their food was. The chicken and pork chop were moist & juicy, lots of flavors. The mashed potatoes & green beans were hot- no one was served a cold meal (175 people) & the alfredo was a generous serving. I felt the pricing per plate was very affordable compared to other venues we looked at. We had appetizers and late night snacks as well -both were a hit with the guests & everyone loved them. Another thing I really appreciated about our experience with working with The Refuge was that we were able to decorate the Friday before the wedding. Lisa reached out, let us know that there were no weddings or events planned for Friday so we could come decorate the venue if we wanted to. It was a huge stress reliever - I was able to help decorate it and didn't have to leave it up to someone else to do. They didn't have to let us come in a day early but they did and it meant a lot to us. I'm not sure how often this happens, but I really appreciated being offered. As I said earlier, we didn't have our ceremony there but we were still able to use the bridal suite. It's a nice, quiet, and private area with it's own bathroom! We and the bridal party were able to keep our personal belongings there without worry someone may get into it. It also provided a nice escape for when we just needed to catch out breath (we're introverts).Overall, we had a great experience and I would recommend The Refuge Golf Club to everyone looking for a beautiful, reliable, picture perfect venue.

Even with minimal decorating it looks beautiful. There is plenty of parking and space both inside & outside. We brought yard games to keep kids busy & it worked great! The bon fire was also a huge hit, it was nice for a chilly fall night. The food though, the food was amazing! We went with plated dinners (oven roasted chicken, apple mango pork chop & fettuccini alfredo (vegetarian)). Our guests kept coming up to us throughout the night and telling us how great their food was. The chicken and pork chop were moist & juicy, lots of flavors. The mashed potatoes & green beans were hot- no one was served a cold meal (175 people) & the alfredo was a generous serving. I felt the pricing per plate was very affordable compared to other venues we looked at. We had appetizers and late night snacks as well -both were a hit with the guests & everyone loved them. Another thing I really appreciated about our experience with working with The Refuge was that we were able to decorate the Friday before the wedding. Lisa reached out, let us know that there were no weddings or events planned for Friday so we could come decorate the venue if we wanted to. It was a huge stress reliever - I was able to help decorate it and didn't have to leave it up to someone else to do. They didn't have to let us come in a day early but they did and it meant a lot to us. I'm not sure how often this happens, but I really appreciated being offered. As I said earlier, we didn't have our ceremony there but we were still able to use the bridal suite. It's a nice, quiet, and private area with it's own bathroom! We and the bridal party were able to keep our personal belongings there without worry someone may get into it. It also provided a nice escape for when we just needed to catch out breath (we're introverts).Overall, we had a great experience and I would recommend The Refuge Golf Club to everyone looking for a beautiful, reliable, picture perfect venue.

They are very upfront about what is included and don’t try to nickel and dime you for every little thing. The day of things were amazing, Christa made sure we were on time for everything and also checked in to make sure everything was going well throughout the day. The service for food was fast and efficient for our plated dinner. We heard countless times how amazing the food was and how generous the portion sizes were. The bartenders were very good throughout the night as well. The outside ceremony area was so beautiful with all the flowers in bloom and even the tables on the patio had table cloths on them and looked beautiful and provided extra seating for cocktail hour. We highly highly recommend The Refuge as a wedding venue! The entire staff was phenomenal and we couldn’t have had a better day. Christa is one of the wedding and event coordinators there, she is absolutely amazing. She knows weddings well and was so helpful in areas we had no idea about when it came to planning. The second we walked into the refuge for a tour, we knew that was where we wanted to get married. The outdoor ceremony space was gorgeous in the winter when we toured and even better on our wedding day in August. Lisa did an amazing job coordinating everything and keeping us all on track. Little bumps throughout the day she was handling. Including when my 3 year old daughter (and flower girl) had a melt down shortly before the ceremony. Lisa asked what she could do to help and ran to get her a plate of snacks which helped immensely! She made my 3 year old and 6 year old feel at ease which I believe helped them walk down the aisle confidently with all smiles and even a twirl from my 3 year old. I can't thank Christa and the staff at the Refuge enough for their flexibility with scheduling this wedding reception. The original wedding/reception was to take place in early April of 2020. From the beginning, Christa was kind and helpful and answered all of our questions with a smile. Planning a wedding during a pandemic is not familiar to anyone but Christa and the staff were always there with a common-sense answer to our questions. Everyone wore masks and they helped us create an outdoor ceremony and outdoor/indoor reception that was safe and socially distanced. We found The Refuge on the TheKnot and loved the pictures we saw, so we scheduled a tour of it. When we visited, we instantly loved the exposed wood beams and fireplace inside and the beautiful pavilion and garden outside. Christa, the event coordinator, made our wedding planning as stress-free as possible! We found The Refuge on the TheKnot and loved the pictures we saw, so we scheduled a tour of it. When we visited, we instantly loved the exposed wood beams and fireplace inside and the beautiful pavilion and garden outside. Christa, the event coordinator, made our wedding planning as stress-free as possible! I would 100% recommend The Refuge for your wedding venue. They are extremely affordable and the venue is stunning. We got married on 12/29/18 and received discounts for getting married off season. Our 11th table to get food stated their plates were filled with hot food. We got so many compliments on the food and man, was it affordable. Christa is their wedding coordinator and so helpful. She answered all questions promptly and was just so great throughout the planning process and day of. The venue staff is amazing and I just can't give them enough praise. We were able to clean up the next day as well, since there were no events that Sunday. Keep in mind, we got married in the winter so this will likely not be possible for someone getting married peak season.

We did the less fancy, cheaper appetizers between the ceremony and reception and little did we know, they were butler served! It looked so fancy but it was very reasonably priced. We also went with the late night nacho bar and the guests went nuts over it. That was one of the highlights that people are still talking/asking about. I can't recommend this place enough. We will be back on our anniversary to play some golf and remember the amazing time we had here.

The refuge is a well-oiled machine when it comes to wedding events. The food was wonderful and we were hearing compliments all night, our choices were the sirloin steak, chicken parm & spinach pasta. Christa is the on-site wedding coordinator and she makes the planning process as easy as it can be, she is on top of her game and we were very grateful for her assistance through the entire process. In addition, she let us know of some preferred vendors in the area which includes a house to rent right on the gold course - this was a huge bonus for my husbands family and made their participation in events that much smoother! There is also a bridal suite in the basement of the refuge that made it easy for my bridal party to hang out in all morning as we were getting ready for the day! If you are looking for a beautiful, secluded venue in the north metro - book with refuge, they are wonderful!

As the mother of the bride, I could not have picked a better place for our daughters wedding. Everyone was so helpful that worked there! The food was delicious, and the portions were not skimpy. The only negative thing I can think of was that we paid for 3 different types of infused water and although the water looked beautiful, it really had no flavor. It was a very hot day, and the water was cold so that was nice. No question went un-answered by the staff. It was a very nice day for our families, and the ease of the venue really helped. I would highly recommend The Refuge.

I had my ceremony in reception at The Refuge on 8.25.17! It is such a beautiful venue both inside the reception area and the outdoor ceremony area. We loved working with Christa! She was always prompt with answering all my questions and was so great to work with! The food was amazing and she even worked with us on doing a custom dessert station and late night snack! We loved the walking tacos! I would recommend The Refuge to anyone looking for a natural and beautiful setting. Thanks again Christa!

They were fabulous! they worked with us to make sure everything was as we wanted it, they even helped us plan an appetizer reception that would be successful since we couldn't afford to do a full dinner. they were flexible and did everything they could to help us make the day extra special. I got married Sept 17, 2016 at The Refuge Golf Club. I cannot say enough amazing things about Jami, Joe, and the rest of the Refuge team. They were so accommodating to all of our requests. We had 220 guests. Everyone was so amazed at the beautiful room they have, and the amazing grounds. We were also blessed with a great looking day. Their pricing was competitive with other sites around the area, but for the beauty, I feel like it is priceless. I would recommend anyone looking to get married, in a beautiful golf course, The Refuge is the course for you!

Food was very good for both the rehearsal dinner and the reception dinner. We decided to have plated meals - NY strip and stuffed chicken. We upgraded to the summer salad and everyone just loved it. Everything went very smoothly throughout the whole day and night. I highly recommend this venue. Just be cognizant of the food and beverage minimums. We had about 110 guests so we had our wedding on Friday instead because we wouldn't have been able to meet Saturday's minimum (difference of $3000).

I held my wedding at The Refuge on May 21st and it was a spectacular evening! The food, drinks, and atmosphere were perfect! We received many compliments on how well everything was ran and how beautiful the ceremony and reception were. The reception site is a lodge type interior with exposed wood beams and a gorgeous fireplace, which was the focal point of our dance. The wedding coordinator on site, Jami, was amazing at her job. She is very responsive and was very accommodating to our requests throughout the wedding planning process. We can't thank her enough for all of her help to make our special day so memorable!

My wedding ceremony and reception was held at The Refuge on March 12,2016. From start to finish the whole process of planning was so easy with them! Jami the wedding coordinator was amazing, very quick to answer questions and very accommodating. Every one of the staff members I dealt with were great as well. The venue is gorgeous, if you have an indoor or outdoor wedding you will not be disappointed. The reception space inside is so pretty with all the beams and the pretty fireplace! I'm so glad I chose The Refuge, and would highly recommend to anyone looking .

We had so many compliments on how beautiful the venue was and how fitting it was for us. \rWe loved working with Jess at The Refuge! She was so open to all our ideas and different things we wanted to do. Other venues we had checked out always had a whole list of you can't do this, or this, or this, or they would restrict you on your options for food and drinks. Whatever we asked for Jess made it work. The staff the evening of was great. Cleaned up all our decorations towards the end of the evening and boxed it all up. Anything we asked for they were right on top of it. We couldn't have asked for a better experience.

They were accommodating to my wants and desires for our wedding vision. Everyone at our wedding raved about the food which tasted amazing. Food was just as excellent as it was as tasting. They have a great photo booth. The downside that I heard was they cleared off people's full cupsof fresh beverages and desserts and threw them away when they were on the dance floor

Lovely location for both ceremony and reception. The new outdoor pavilion was beautiful and more elegant than having only a trellis on grass which is all most outdoor venues offer. The upscale lodge reception area was so very nice, too. Food and service - excellent. Staff: most helpful.\rVery disappointed: we were assured that motorized golf carts would be prohibited from driving through our wedding site. They were NOT! Two gawking golfers came whizzing by right when our minister was giving his message. I can't tell you how shocked and disappointed I was.\rThe Refuge could easily have kept golfers away from our site for the 1/2 hour duration of our ceremony. For the price we paid to use their facility compared to what the golfers paid, I think this is a reasonable expectation. There was no apology; the wedding planner, instead, denied giving us that promised of limited access. \rWe a few hundred dollars extra for at least 12 people who did not show up or stay for our reception. There is no refund nor were we allowed to take food home. My recommendation to brides: UNDERestimate how many guests will actually be at your dinner. I've never heard of venues running out of food. They can bill you for the extras - IF necessary - afterwards.

Our experience with the Refuge has been nothing but great! Jami was our contact person and she would continually keep us updated and on track. The venue was amazing and was the perfect fit for us with the really tall ceilings and exposed beams, plus all the beautiful scenary!\rThe food was wonderful and generous portions as well! We worked with Jami Price, the event coordinator on site. She was professional, prompt, and organized. She has years of experience at the Refuge, and as a result, she was able to forsee all the details that we needed to arrange prior to the event. She responded to my calls, emails, and questions within one day, if not a few hours! She managed the staff to make sure that everything from set-up to tear-down went smoothly. She was a calming and reassuring presence the day of the reception. All of the staff worked diligently throughout the night. The food and beverage manager, Joe, was also very professional and experienced. The Refuge also has partnerships with well-known vendors such as Buttercream cakes. The oak ceiling is so beautiful, you don't even need drapery! With a beautiful venue, delicious food, and staff that make everything seem effortless, it is sure to be a beautiful pleasurable experience!

Only warning: will tell you reception hall seats up to 300 inside but we found with 280 guests it was VERY cramped. I would say it fits comfortably up to 260 guests.
