The River View
The River View at Occoquan is nestled within the 300-acre Occoquan Regional Park. This state-of-the-art facility features a striking modern interior with window walls that affords every guest a view of the Occoquan River and the peaceful, natural scenery. Our venue features two outdoor spaces and can comfortably host a ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception with dancing. Our capacities for the Main Hall are: • Seated capacity, lecture style: 400 • Seated capacity, without dancefloor: 350 • Seated capacity, with dancefloor: 300 • Standing capacity without tables: 700 • Standing capacity with cocktail tables: 650 Your rental includes a hospitality suite and historic cottage to get ready in, event tables and chairs, and set-up and breakdown of the tables and chairs. It would be a pleasure to host you for a tour of The River View and the surrounding waterfront.

The River View at Occoquan is an absolutely stunning venue in a pocket of Northern Virginia we didn't even know existed (until our wedding planner suggested it to us as a potential wedding site and ultimately was the perfect location for our big day). River View offers the intimacy for a private wedding, while easily accommodating 150-200 guests, and provides the perfect backdrop of the Occoquan river for any outdoor ceremony/event. We were so impressed by the food, the service, and the overall experience provided by the team! Despite the logistical challenges of planning a Virginia wedding from the West Coast (we live in Los Angeles), it was a smooth process working with the River View team. We were very impressed with the responsiveness and high touch support we received from Hannah, Ashley, and the River View staff along the way. They were easy to communicate with and super accessible throughout the planning process and the final weeks leading up to our wedding day, which made the whole experience very enjoyable.Day-of-wedding execution was seamless, with only a few hiccups that none of our guests were aware of (firepits were not turned on and wine table service was limited). Otherwise, we were very happy with the way our wedding turned out - guests were very pleased with the food catered by the Great Blue Heron team and everyone loved the venue (especially the scenic drive up to the venue )! Thank you to the entire River View team for making our dream wedding a reality! We will definitely recommend River View to friends and family looking for a wedding venue or event space in the future!

The River View is a BEAUTIFUL venue. The space is also huge, it was significantly larger than any of the other venues that claimed they could accommodate 150-200 guests, and was the only place where we really felt we could fit that many guests comfortably. The staff were exceptional. Hannah in particular went above and beyond from day 1 to make sure our experience and our big day were perfect. When booking with River View, you must use their catering partner (Great Blue Heron) - the food was delicious and our guests gave high compliments. We highly recommend this venue to future brides and grooms!!

This venue was absolutely stunning and perfect for our June wedding. The windows and outdoor space were exactly what I had in mind when choosing our venue. The River View made our day perfect!One thing of note is that they do require clients to work with their on-site catering company, Great Blue Heron Catering. While this may be an added bonus for some, it, unfortunately, created a bit of a headache for me. Our catering contact did not send us an invoice for our first payment and then was a month late in letting us know the amount that was due. This was concerning given that it was not a small amount of money. All The River View staff were lovely to interact with in-person/while on-site. They were always ready and eager to help and were willing to do everything in their power to make our vision a reality. I will note that the communication and organization of information during the lead-up to our event was a bit disappointing and scattered. Lastly, if you utilize GBH's bartending services, I highly recommend Rose! All our guests raved about her and she went above and beyond in every capacity! We appreciated her so very much.

Any and all other adjectives that can describe the perfect venue should be used.The venue was absolutely gorgeous. It was the perfect location for our wedding. We had almost given up and settled on another venue, but we had a feeling that the right venue had to be out there. With River View, you have a capacity of 400+, modern building, incredibly tall ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, waterfront for beautiful photos, pristine wooden floors, gold chiavari chairs, amazing team (Cori and Fern), exclusive caterer Great Blue Heron (who nailed all the service and food), and the list goes on and on.

If you pick River View, you will not be disappointed. The venue itself is absolutely a dream, but Cori and Fern definitely make it worthwhile. They were always so responsive and so helpful, even offering us things the venue just had from over the years. Their added guidance was/is unmatched. The Great Blue Heron is the caterer for all of the Nova Parks, and even though they are an automatic booking their services are also top notch. Every person I talked to after the fact raved about how delicious the food was. Overall, if you are considering River View - pick it, you won't regret it.

Pick this place!!Fern and Cori accompanied us on the three year journey to our wedding reception. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, they kindly let us reschedule our reception twice.Heather led us through our final walkthrough with humor and attention to detail. Madi, answered my 20 questions the day before the reception. Fern and her team set up an outdoor ceremony, than an indoor ceremony than back to an outdoor ceremony in a couple hours. I would describe the Riverview team as kind, flexible, detail oriented and effective.As for the actual venue, it is beautiful- right on the water with high ceilings and a wall of windows. It feels grand and yet we still felt connected to nature because it is located inside a park. We felt like we received VIP service with extra love and kindness.

What an amazing wedding experience and such a beautiful venue. From the initial contact of asking for their availability, Cori, Fern, and Hannah were so communicative. Not only did they make us feel as though we were the only ones planning a wedding, but persistently had a bubbly and heartwarming attitude during the entire process. This is huge as its suppose to be a joyous time! We received so many compliments on the venue, food, and drinks from our guests. So my wife and I toured the River View in February of 2019 and we instantly loved the venue when we walked into the building. We first met with Cori and her team, she gave us a thorough rundown of the venue. She was so friendly and patient with our questions. She explained at that time that the River View was a new venue. We were excited that it was recently build and the scenery in the area wowed us, especially since it's on the river bank. We were so impressed, we signed a contract the next day to reserve our wedding for April of 2020. We wanted to try their catering partner, Great Blue Heron, so we went to a taste testing at the venue a few weeks later. We were also impressed with their appetizers, entrees, and variety of foods, that we decided to have Great Blue Heron cater our wedding reception. A year of wedding planning zoomed by quickly and as you well know by the time we were almost ready to have our wedding we had to postpone it due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Soon after a Virginia State of Emergency was announced, Cori and her team provided us with alternative dates. At first we postponed it for six months but after three months of the ongoing pandemic we decided to push it out till October of 2021 just to be safe and with the hope of a vaccine coming out way before our wedding. Cori was so patient and made it so easy to reschedule our weddings twice. Fast forward another year and we are finally doing our walk through with Cori and she made it very easy. We went down her check lists, reviewed the layouts for the ceremony and reception, and did a final walkthrough of the venue. Afterwards, both my wife and I felt more at ease with the wedding planning. Finally, on the day of the wedding, everything that we required of the venue was exactly what we wanted or better. We got compliments for the beautiful venue, the amazing scenery, our guests enjoyed the special cocktail drink (we asked a Fall weather drink and they made a delicious hot apple cider bourbon), and guests loved the food. Cori and her team really made it a perfect day for our wedding and we absolutely recommend the River View.

We fell in love with River View on our first visit itself. It is absolutely stunning from outside and inside. And then we met Cori and Fern. They are truly amazing. They are with us all throughout, helping us to plan, answering our questions, making very good suggestions etc. When we had to postpone due to COVID, they are fully cooperative and worked with us very patiently. Cori and Fern stepped in on the day of our event and provided all the help we need without even being asked for!!! The bridal suit is spacious and very comfortable and the log cabin for groomsmen is historical and very pleasant. The bartender and staff are very wonderful and professional. We used an outside catering company, but staff are provided by River View, and they are all amazing. The bartender is amazingly friendly and knowledgeable. The floor to ceiling windows makes the inside also very beautiful. Love this place and absolutely recommend to anyone looking for a wedding venue.

We could not have imagined a better location for our wedding! Absolutely STUNNING from the outdoor ceremony space, the reception hall, surrounding grounds, and the entire park! Fantastic! The team at the River View was truly amazing at every step of the way. They were very communicative and helpful during the planning process; and made sure that I had nothing to worry about on the day of the event. The food from Great Blue Heron (their contracted catering team) was soooo good, all our guests had rave reviews! The bar tending team also was cranking out the most amazing drinks that left our guests speechless. It is a beautiful venue, in a great location, and they have a fantastic service team on top of it! We found this venue at the last minute and they immediately catered to us and made sure that we had everything that we needed and answered all of my 1000 questions via email and phone. The River View is in a beautiful location and is so pretty inside as well. The staff really helped walk us through everything, including how we could make our guests as safe as possible through the pandemic. They even had some decor we used to really complete the look of our reception. Unfortunately the venue is contracted to work specifically with Great Blue Heron Catering, which is expensive and we had a few issues with, but we chose to cut costs in other places rather than give up on the venue that sits right on the river we kayak on every summer. It turned out to be absolutely beautiful.

We visited the River View when we first started looking at venues and were bummed they did not have our date available. However, due to COVID-19 we had to cancel our wedding plans but were still looking to find a way to get married. The River View TRULY came to our rescue with the most incredible and perfect elopement package. They had really thought of everything from cake, photographer, venue, florist, and wedding planner. We gave them about 1.5 weeks notice before our date and they were able to put it all together without any stress onto us. While they even had to search for other vendors with such short notice, they made our day perfect. They answered all of our questions in a timely manner and were even incredibly accommodating when we pushed to have an outdoor ceremony even though it was wet and a little muddy. Their beautiful scenic backdrop, groom and bridal suite, and outdoor ceremony space really helped us make our day, a day to remember. One of my favorite things about The River View is that they have a picture frame all guests can sign and we get to take home with us. I am truly thrilled and transported to our day every time I get to read those names of our sweet guests (even though there was only a few!) and see a beautiful picture of us on a beautiful day. I only wish we had had 3 hours instead of 2 because I felt a little rushed to make sure I was following through with our 2 hour timeline. Overall, I am so glad we were able to have our special day at the River View. Thank you River View for making our dreams come true!!

This review is long overdue! Our wedding planner had gone to the River View's grand opening in July of 2018 and thought of us. She was on the money because this was the PERFECT venue! Cori and her team are extremely responsive, detail-oriented, and transparent. They made the whole process from touring the venue to the day of the wedding very easy and smooth. Great Blue Heron catering is responsible for the food and drinks so that was one less vendor to worry about (they came recommended by a friend who used them at another NOVA parks site, and despite agreeing to use them before tasting the food, you still get a HUGE tasting of pretty much everything on their menu to make your own selections---come hungry!) The River View is absolutely gorgeous. The pictures look amazing, but really don't do it justice. It was one of the aspects of our wedding guests kept complimenting us on over and over again. The outdoor space is just as beautiful as the indoor architecture, so much so that my fiancé and I could have tossed a coin and been happy with either ceremony plan. You can have the ceremony in one of two outdoor spaces or indoors. We chose indoors since it was Labor Day weekend and a still little too warm out, but we were able to have an indoor/outdoor cocktail hour complete with yard games that come with the venue and took pictures outside as well. The view over the water is gorgeous and the docks make for some beautiful photo options. The Brickmaker's Cafe is also located below the venue and offers a food truck for late night eats during the reception, which we took advantage of and was a huge hit with our guests and our stomachs! You will not be disappointed if you select this venue for your big day, they were fantastic! Our only regret is not being able to relive the experience every day!

We hosted our wedding at the River View this past weekend and it was such an incredible experience! The venue is new and gorgeous! It overlooks the water, has ample space for guests both inside and outside, and has the most lovely floor to ceiling windows. The staff is highly trained and very responsive to emails and questions and Cori, the venue coordinator, is a saint! We received so many lovely compliments from guests on the food, especially cocktail hour (the bacon wrapped dates are amazing!), and the attentiveness of the staff. The venue staff worked well with all of our other vendors and made sure they had everything that they needed in order to make the day run smoothly. I am so grateful that we chose this venue for our wedding day and we highly recommend putting this venue on your list of must-see venues for your wedding or special event!

The staff is highly trained and very responsive to emails and questions and Cori, the venue coordinator, is a saint! We received so many lovely compliments from guests on the food, especially cocktail hour (the bacon wrapped dates are amazing!), and the attentiveness of the staff. The venue staff worked well with all of our other vendors and made sure they had everything that they needed in order to make the day run smoothly. I am so grateful that we chose this venue for our wedding day and we highly recommend putting this venue on your list of must-see venues for your wedding or special event!

We are so glad that we decided to get married at Riverview as it is the perfect combination of rustic and industrial with a twist of history. We first saw the venue before it had walls, as we toured not long after construction started. We loved that it had a piece of Virginia's history (brick kiln's where the bricks made were used for building homes in the DC area) and the GROOM'S COTTAGE! No other venues had a place for the groom to get ready (he LOVED that!) It was so fun to imagine what the venue would look like with the floor to ceiling windows, extremely tall ceilings with beautiful light fixtures and we got to wear hard hats! Not only is the venue beautiful (right on the water, SO MUCH natural light) but the RiverView team is absolutely amazing! Cori is the best (professional, organized and makes you feel so at ease that everything will be wonderful) and I can't say enough positive things about them. Cori's now officially a part of our family because our flower girl insisted she walk down the aisle with her! I am so thankful for her, Liz (from Great Blue Heron Catering), our Banquet Captain and their entire team for making our day so seamless and special! They are the venue to pick for your wedding. You won't be disappointed!

Our daughter was married at The River View. This place is more than perfect. The outside area where the service was held could not have been more beautiful, with river views and an arch that can be decorated as you see fit. No need for added decorations as the floor to ceiling windows in the reception room showcase beautiful river views. Cori and her staff treated us like family, did what we asked, and were available to us throughout the planning process as well as the wedding day. The appetizers and dinner food was abundant and delicious. The wait staff were so respectful and accommodating, and even refolded the napkins when our guests left the table to go through the buffet line. A very classy place!

The River View is close to perfect. For my wedding, we had 115 guests in the cocktail hour and reception spaces and neither felt cramped at any point. The venue coordinators are so friendly, professional, and organized - I truly felt they cared about my wedding and wanted to make sure it went off perfectly (which it did!) During the evening reception, guests could see the sunset changing with each hour through the glass walls and it really livened the atmosphere. Bridal suite is also spacious and well equipped - my makeup and hair artists couldn't get over how convenient it was to have so many outlet plugs and mirrors. The Scale House for the groom is unbelievable - it's stocked with a mini kitchen, TV, couches, bathroom, and closet spaces. If there are any drawbacks, it would be that it's definitely bit pricey and you are limited to using their on-site caterer, Great Blue Heron (food is not terrible, but may not be for those who want specific dishes at their event).

The River View is the perfect place to host your wedding. The building is beautiful and has a nice view overlooking the Occoquan river. The outdoor space is very pleasant, and while weather did not allow us to utilize it, the space would be great for hosting the ceremony or for people to mingle for cocktails. The indoor space was immaculate and designed very well to host a wedding. The entire building is so beautiful that it really does not need a lot of additional decorations.There are two main areas in the building: the reception hall and a smaller room that we used to host a cocktail hour for more than 180 guests.The entire property exists inside of a public park. There is plenty of parking available and several great areas in the park to take photos.There is also a fun \"groomsmen cottage\" that occupies a separate building, just a few steps away from the main reception hall. My groomsmen were treated to a bucket of beer, and a large screen TV, to watch football before the wedding kicked off (no pun intended). They unanimously voted it the best pre-wedding experience that they have ever had.The team at the River View were a pleasure to work with. They were very responsive to our emails and phone calls and I felt very supported through the entire process. We felt very confident leading up to the event that everything was going to work out well. They were very professional and very passionate. Do not hesitate to book your wedding here.

This venue was absolutely... AMAZING! It's such a beautiful venue, inside and out! I just had my wedding on 10/19 and it was just so beautiful! This venue has a large bridal room and the groom can hangout at a little modern \"club house\" outside. Complete privacy and the venue is so spacious, with very modern designs.The service of EVERYONE prior to the big day, on the day of the wedding was great too! From the first time we went to do a tour, to the walk through, setting up tables on the day of, wait staff, bartender... everyone was extremely nice, caring and very professional. No one complained about any service and the interactions all feel very genuine!The caterer they partner with was also very VERY impressive! We did buffet style and all the food was very well prepared. Our guests could not stop talking about the salmon and the beef!! (Highly recommend it!!) Nothing was dry, over/under cooked. Our guests came happy, left happy and well fed!We couldn't have asked for a more perfect location and service for our special day! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
