An Exquisite 1870s Barn in the Catskill Mountains
Celebrate in comfort and timeless style in The Sablewood, our stunning circa 1870 post & beam barn. The soaring 40' high ceilings and 12' wide 1920s vintage crystal chandelier will take your breath away and leave your guests with an unforgettable experience! Set in the spectacular beauty of the Northern Catskill Mountains, this 120 acre working family farm is just 35 minutes outside Albany and 3 hours from NYC or Boston. The Sablewood can accommodate parties ranging from 25-175 guests. The Sablewood, named for the unique sable (black) color, has undergone meticulous renovations to maintain historic character while updating essentials for year round comfort with full climate control. Our outdoor spaces are filled with flowing flowers and landscaping set against the mountain backdrop. Wedding day rental includes use of two gorgeous sun drenched preparation suites, all ceremony, cocktail & reception furniture, and a full staff to assist in planning and event day. Our staff handles furniture setup & breakdown (ceremony, cocktail space, and reception), greeting & directing guests, taking wedding couple and photographers around the farm, managing all lighting, heating and air conditioning, keep our gorgeous bathrooms stocked & sparkling, and cleanup at the end of your event. Beautiful cross back vineyard style ceremony chairs, choice of arbor options, gorgeous handmade French country farm tables & high end wooden reception chairs, full climate control, & stunning custom restrooms are all included in your rental. Indoor and outdoor options for ceremony and covered cocktail hour in case of inclement weather with our NEW white barn, "The Charlington"! The Charlington stands next to the Sablewood and is also fully climate controlled with stunning 26' high ceilings, custom scissor trusses and handmade french country chandeliers. The Charlington is another "Plan A" in case of inclement weather for an indoor ceremony and covered cocktail hour on the bluestone veranda facing the mountains. If you’re looking for that barn/country side wedding with all the charm of rustic, romantic but all the modern necessities, The Sablewood is for you. Could not have asked for a better wedding venue. The best decision I made. Lisa and the whole Sablewood team have weddings down to a science. The Sablewood has everything you need. Beautiful fields, water features, and gardens for endless photo opportunities. Multiple locations to choose where to have your wedding ceremony with the option to get married inside in the Charlington barn in case the weather doesn’t cooperate. The dinning area is stunning on its own with beautiful farm tables and gorgeous chandelier. Its a venue that looks beautiful on its own, you decorate as little or as much as you would like. The suites for the bride and groom to get ready in have everything you and your vendors could need and help make the day run smoothly and stay on track. Lisa has such an excellent relationship with top vendors in the area that all love coming to the Sablewood. Her sister Holly is a huge help on the day of the wedding with driving you around the property to get the most beautiful pictures. I cannot say enough good things about The Sablewood.

We live out of town and had to make a lot of decisions for our wedding from what we saw online. We first booked The Sablewood without even touring the property just because we loved what we saw in photos and what we read about it. When we finally did take a tour, it exceeded all our expectations, and you can tell how much love went into every detail of the property through one conversation with the owner, Lisa. Looking back, we really had no idea how much actually went into a hosting a wedding. We booked our vendors and showed up the day of expecting to do some decorating before the guests arrived. There are so many details that we hadn’t even thought of but Lisa and her team made sure everything went smoothly for us. They went above and beyond from contacting our vendors ahead of time to ensure they all knew where to go on the property, moving décor for us when our ceremony location changed last minute, directing guests, driving us around the property to take pictures (and even holding our flowers, drinks, and veil as we were taking photos) and packing everything up for us at the end of the night.

It was a dream come true to be married under the willow tree on the hilltop at The Sablewood. From the very beginning of signing the contract, we felt that we were in safe hands with Lisa. She helped us not only during the planning phase with vendor selection and hotel options for our guests, but also on our wedding day by helping with coordination, and even snapping some photos and videos for us to look through the next day.We only wish we could have stayed at the venue longer as we were only allowed to be on the venue from 8am-10pm.We are so happy we chose The Sablewood and had many guests tell us how they felt that it was a fairytale wedding venue. We had our DREAM wedding at the Sablewood in October and we have nothing but love for the venue and Lisa and her team. The Sablewood goes above and beyond when it comes to creating a personal and intimate experience - the fact that a property that large only has one wedding per day says so much! And let's not get started about how gorgeous our pictures turned out (inside and out) - there are SO MANY beautiful photo ops around the property. We toured dozens of wedding venues that felt more like wedding factories before finding the Sablewood and immediately booked after our tour. If we were to repeat our wedding again, The Sablewood would 1000% still be the venue for us!

From the moment we met Lisa, we knew we were in good hands! The Sablewood is absolutely stunning and the custom work done by Lisa’s father is gorgeous.Lisa and her team are fantastic. We got to enjoy our entire day while The Sablewood team took care of everything! Lisa and the Sablewood crew are the most unbelievable group of people I have ever met. Hands down, they made our wedding day the most amazing experience we’ve ever had. I would read reviews of vendors with former brides raving about how a vendor is 1000000/10, and after working with Lisa, I know understand why they do. The Sablewood itself is a GOREGEOUS venue; we wanted outdoor views of the mountains with a rustic barn reception, without too much of that “barn” feel and the Sablewood checked all the boxes. Our original plan was to get married in their outdoor oval space but ended up inside the white barn for our ceremony since it was really cold that day. The indoor space was just as gorgeous and pictures do not do it justice! But it’s really Lisa and the Sablewood crew that set this place apart. Lisa works with you through the entire planning process, offering a detailed preferred vendor list as well as suggestions on decor (if you’re like me and not sure how to go about decorating for a wedding). Day of the wedding, there was no need to hire a day of coordinator - Lisa and her team did everything. She took my boxes of decorations and said she’d take care of the rest. Her and her team put out all of our decor (so much better than I could have done myself) and even added to our florals to enhance the look of our ceremony space. She greeted and organized every vendor - everything just came together as I sat up in the bridal suite drinking champagne. When we went up to the pond for our first look, us and our photographer were driven up by The Sablewood crew. While we did that, Lisa took our wedding party to the ceremony space and went through a rehearsal with them so they knew exactly what to do. The Sablewood greeted our guests when they arrived and ushered them into our ceremony space. For the ceremony, she organized everyone and spaced people out. Immediately after the ceremony, her team was there with their car to drive us and our photographers up to the top of the property for the most amazing golden hour pictures. At the end of the night, Lisa and her team helped pack everything up so that clean up was done in less than a half hour. Honestly, they probably did so much more behind the scenes that day that I don’t know about but suffice it to say that The Sablewood is not only an amazing venue but it is owned and operated by an even more amazing set of individuals who will make your wedding day truly wonderful.

The Sablewood is the most stunning venue I have ever seen. I feel SO lucky to have gotten married there. Even my florist admitted you barely need too many extra flowers because the venue itself is so beautiful on its own. Besides the breathtaking grounds and barns, Lisa and her team are such lovely people too. I had many conversations with Lisa about the property and logistics and she was so sweet and helpful in giving me ideas and suggestions (because she truly knows best! She is very experienced and has had so many weddings at her property!). Her team was so flexible when we had to move the ceremony inside due to the weather, and then they even held umbrellas for us as we walked the short distance from one barn to the other. You also don’t have to worry about the “getting ready” space for the girls or guys. The Sablewood has the most beautiful area for hair and makeup with great natural light. At the end of the night they even helped load our cars with some of the reception decorations and extras. There were so many little things they did which truly show they go the extra mile and care about the couples that get married there. I cannot rave about it enough!!!

The Sablewood was everything I could have ever hoped for in a wedding venue. It was the easiest and best choice we made throughout the planning process. They have literally thought of EVERYTHING you could ever want in a wedding venue. From the most beautiful bridal suite, to a separate building that can serve as an alternate ceremony space (that is equally as stunning as the outside ceremony space), to the most incredible backdrops for photos, the Sablewood truly has everything. I seriously can not recommend this venue enough!

When it comes to weddings, Lisa and Holly are the best venue coordinators/owners you could work with. Lisa had provided a list of suggested vendors that they had worked with previously. We loved every vendor that we worked with from her list. Day of, Lisa and Holly were outstanding and thought of details that we hadn’t even considered until that point (Holly’s car was detailed that weekend to avoid getting the wedding dress dirty). Not only is the venue gorgeous and unique but Lisa, the owner was so sweet and takes so much pride in her venue. Lisa and her staff were beyond amazing on our wedding day. Everything was set up perfectly, her staff made sure every single detail was perfect. All of our guest raves about how breath taking the venue was. We would highly recommend choosing The Sablewood for your wedding day!

Our wedding at the Sablewood was absolutely perfect! Lisa and her team worked so well together, and worked amazingly well with our other vendors. With no planner, it was amazingly kind and helpful that Lisa made herself so available to us. The Sablewood itself is stunning! The temperature control was a relief for our humid July wedding, and our guests were grateful. The new white barn is so pretty. We used the outdoor space of it for cocktail hour and took some of our portraits inside. They are some of my favorite photos. All of our guests commented on how pretty everything was. We barely had any florals or decor because the Sablewood is so beautifully done.You can't find a better choice!

We still cannot believe how lucky we were to have gotten married at The Sablewood. There is not a detail that was missed at this venue, everywhere you turn you get a breathtaking view. From the moment we entered The Sablewood on our tour we instantly knew that was were we wanted to get married. There is a lot of stress with planning a wedding and as you get closer weather can be a big one, it was extremely calming knowing that The Sablewood offers so many ceremony, and cocktail hour options that are all beyond gorgeous. Lisa, Holly, and the rest of the team did an amazing job and made our wedding run seamlessly.

The Sablewood is by far the most magical venue I have ever been too, and I am so lucky I had the pleasure of being married there. The property is straight out of a fairytale, with the most beautiful restored barn (epic chandelier), immaculate landscaping providing endless photo ops, multiple ceremony locations, fire pit, I could go on and on but you just need to see it. Lisa and her team are PROs when it comes to making the day go smoothly. Somehow they seemed to have everything we left behind or just lost the day of (table numbers, twinkle lights, etc.) and helped make the day a total dream for my husband and I. Her sister drove us around the property to get all the photos we wanted (talk about amazing service), and just made sure we were able to enjoy every single minute. This team is beyond efficient & professional, having all our decor packed up neatly and ready to go for us the next morning. But more than anything they are a pleasure to be around & we are so lucky to have worked with them!!! Wish we could do it all over again!

My daughter's 8/7/21 Wedding was MAGNIFICENT! Lisa has been incredible every step of the way with my daughter. The Sablewood team on wedding day was OUTSTANDING! My daughter, residing/ working in NYC for 4+ years, found this location practically in her hometown backyard. My daughter wanted a barn wedding and she searched downstate NY and more and nothing compares to this pristine venue just outside Albany, NY. Albany is not far for all you downstate brides looking for the most professional team to guide you through the process. Capital District brides must see this location too. The Venue grounds are GORGEOUS. The black barn is GORGEOUS. There is a new white barn close to being completed that is GORGEOUS! The MOST STUNNING BARN VENUE ever! The kindest, most professional and hardworking family owners (Lisa, Holly, and their Dad) take such pride in their business and it shows with every detail inside and outside. I can not tell you how many of the 188 guests at the wedding just kept commenting on the venue and it's beauty.

Let me tell you, we are beyond happy we ended up having to change to this venue because I would pick the Sablewood every time. It's insanely gorgeous, our guests said it was the most beautiful venue they've ever been to. Every detail was perfect on our day, I would not change one thing. The bridal suite is AMAZING, truly. It was so convenient to have the bridal suite and groom's suite next to each other for our videographer and photographer, and the photos I have of getting ready in that bridal suite are incredible.The entire property is so beautiful - I can't rave enough about it and how our photos look from the day. Lisa's (one of the owners) Dad made pretty much everything in the barn and bridal suite, and everything is so unique and just so so gorgeous.Lisa and her entire family are the nicest people, her sister drove me to my first look with my husband, and was just the sweetest. Lisa, you made my stress go away as soon as we decided on your venue. The day of, I can't thank you enough for everything you did for us, it was magical and smooth sailing. I really wasn't stressed at all and I have you to thank for that.This venue is EVERYTHING. Seriously. Beyond Pinterest-worthy, it is a magical place and I had the best day of my entire life there. We highly recommend Highview Springs Farm to anyone who has even considered a barn wedding! It is such an amazing barn with a great open space with lots of flexibility and a spectacular chandelier ! We loved the windows all around - you feel like you are outside but you also have heat and AC. We appreciated that they handle so many things for you- that we don’t have to rent or setup anything - all the tables and chairs and setup and even a fire outside at night for s’mores .

In the most simplest of terms, the farm and surrounding property are magnificent. Set on a bucolic piece of land with picturesque views from every angle and undulating hills, the venue makes for a truly beautiful and unique setting for any occasion at any time of the year. Great care is taken to maintain the natural beauty of the farm that once acted as a stable for Morgan horses. The barn has undergone incredible and meticulous reconstruction making it a showstopper of a site. Highview Springs Farm offered my husband and I the most naturally beautiful venue to celebrate our marriage in the Schoharie Valley. We chose to have our reception outdoors in early August, set around the stunning scenery of the Farm. Lisa was a tremendous help in offering flexibility, it felt like we had her full support and creative rights for the day. From lawn games to a surrey with the fringe on top, this venue really had it all for us. There was no problem including our dog, Rusty in the festivities either. Similar settings in the Boston area where we lived at the time, were not affordable and too restrictive. This location offered a respite from the buzz of the city for our out of town guests at an affordable rate for us. Mazzone Catering did an amazing job with the menu, service and presentation. If you're lucky enough to get her, I highly recommend Tracey Buyce Photography out of Saratoga. She has an incredible eye for detail, is very horse/dog savvy and made us feel at ease during the one on one shots. All in all, we had a fabulous experience from the very beginning of planning until the last guest left. The only problem was, we didn't want the night to end!

Lisa Shaul (Owner) I grew up working on my family's vegetable farm & have always appreciated the beauty of the Schoharie Valley. It's hard to put into words how excited I was when the opportunity came about to purchase this beautiful farm where I used to ride horses as a kid. We initially used the big 1800s barn as hay storage but always thought it could be so much more. Here we are, multiple years (& countless hours of a huge family effort later) with a stunning venue to offer couples what I like to call the ballroom of barns.
