This historic venue was built in 1920 and was run by the Shepard family for 90 years. The place acted as both the family’s trade and residence, and throughout the years, they created a wonderful site rich in memories and traditions. The 3,500-square-foot barn at The Shepard Places offers a perfect backdrop for ceremonies and receptions. It sits on 11 acres of prime farmland and offers unmatched rustic elegance with a guest capacity of 250. The barn was built in the early 1900s, and features a five-foot centerpiece chandelier that illuminates the area below, highlighting the versatility of the space, which offers endless decorations and seating possibilities. With both indoor and uncovered outdoor settings, the scenic views and country setting make this venue a charming choice for a barn or farmhouse wedding. An event planning service is available, as well as setup and cleanup services. At your disposal, you have aisle markers, chairs, tables, linens, furniture, and decorations, such as centerpieces. Bar service is available with an open bar option. This venue is wheelchair accessible and has easy access level guest parking. The three-bedroom homestead offers the perfect space to get ready with modern amenities and separate get-ready rooms. My husband and I got married here in October, and we couldn’t be more thankful for The Shepard Place and their staff for all that they did for us leading up to the wedding and the day of. They were all extremely helpful in the planning process from their quick responses, to allowing us to visit the venue several times leading up to the wedding to make sure everything was exactly how we pictured it. They have tons of decorations to choose from and did whatever they could to help accommodate our needs. On the day of the rehearsal and wedding day they were around at all times for anything we needed, even right before the ceremony when I was standing outside waiting and Emily gave me her jacket because she noticed I was shivering since it was really cold/windy out. It was clear how much they cared and wanted us to and enjoy our day and did everything they could to make it happen. We seriously cannot say enough great things about The Shepard Place and recommend them to anyone!!

Emily and her father were absolutely wonderful. Emily was always incredibly responsive to text messages and phone calls and always had my back when something went awry! The Shepard Place is absolutely gorgeous - I received so many compliments on the venue and how it looked! I can't rave enough about Emily, though. Whenever something went awry with wedding planning, Emily was there to help and offer advice. She was so incredibly accommodating towards myself, my bridal party, and my family and I couldn't be more thankful for her, her dad, and her beautiful venue!

If you are planning a barn wedding, I 100% recommend The Shepard Place. From the first time we visited with the Geiser family that runs this venue until the moment we left the day after the wedding we knew this was the best decision for our daughter and son-in-law's wedding. They are a caring and loving family and want your wedding to be be your perfect wedding. The venue itself is so beautiful, from the lighting inside and the setting outside we could not have asked for a better place. I may have had some emotions as I was leaving Sunday morning once we were finished cleaning up. That is how wonderful it was working with the Geiser family. I truly cannot say enough. I tried to upload pictures of the wedding to share but was not able to.

The venue is very pretty and you do get a lot of extra decor. However looks aren't the only important part to consider. Emily was very hard to communicate with. I booked everything out very early to give myself more time with vendors and less time stressing. Numerous emails/questions went unanswered until the Thursday before my wedding. I was told we would have a meeting roughly a month out to finalize everything and it happened the week before. Scheduling the call was hard because I would get texts at 8pm or 9pm asking if right then would be good to call. She asked monday night for a call but I was already asleep. When I responded Tuesday with times that worked she waited until Friday to respond and asked if Sunday worked so we got to half ass finalize plans a week before the wedding. This effected how my tables were arranged which made the table numbers wonky but we didn't get too see it until after the seating information was too late to fix. During this I was made to feel like it was my fault and I wasn't giving her and her staff enough time to plan (again booked in 21, got married in 23) I ignored all this because I understand wedding season gets busy and during my final walk through they tried to eliminate any stresses. The actual wedding night is where I have my biggest issue and where I advise everyone looking to be cautious when picking a vendor. The Shepard Place has a very pretty house which we're allowed to use for getting ready. I was under the impression (up to the Thursday before) that my getting ready stuff could stay in the house until we left the venue completely (in the contract it states 10:30am next day) Again this was not the case. I told the father that I had a reception outfit that I wanted to change into and I'd get everything out then. While getting photos taken before we even left for the ceremony Emily was moving everything to a pile and throwing away anything she deemed trash, this is when I feel her attitude started. Ceremony was offsite at a church and when we came back I was asked a few times when the girls were cleaning up from the morning. It was time for my outfit change so I brought 3 bridesmaids in to help clean and change. We got everything out and Emily locked the house, but my keys had gone missing. My girls asked to look for them in the house and Emily refused to let them back in. At one point my mom and day of person go ask to look in the house, mom even telling Emily exactly where to look. Emily lies to both of their faces and says keys were found stop asking to go in. Numerous people are looking for these keys (because they werent found when emily said) and asking to look inside. Emily is getting ruder and ruder to everyone asking. It isn't until the end of the night when my husband asks that she finally let's one of us look. She had been saying her and her staff were looking, that's why she wouldn't let wedding party look. When they walked to the house, she made a snide comment about how this would be the 5 or 6 person who looked inside. It took my mom less than 15 seconds (because they were right where she told Emily they were ALL NIGHT!) Emily just told my mom she hadn't gotten around to looking in that room yet...it was the bridal suite! So she told us she had been looking for them and never checked the room I was getting ready in. Her attitude ruined my night and many of the guests experience. I was also informed that the bartenders lied to guest about what beer was left. Guest were told everything was gone but one beer and when we went to pick up the alcohol we had 7+ cases of different beer.

My husband and I got married here last month. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and is honestly worth the price, considering the owners provide a lot of the decorations! As a food vendor, I absolutely LOVE catering events at The Shepard Place. Since my first visit, Emily, Mark, & Ann, have been helpful and accommodating. They always make sure we have what we need, answer questions, and give us direction when needed. The barn is beautiful, and you can see the pride they take as owners to provide a clean space for all events. Mark gave me a history of the barn my first visit, and it was so neat to hear the story of how the barn was transformed. It's truly one of the best run facilities I have ever had the pleasure to work at.

Where do I even begin! This venue is more than just a venue. The owners care so deeply about making your day special and everything you could ever want. From the day we signed the contract, to the day of the wedding, they were there every step of the way. They have several props/back drops/ extra decorations they let us use (included in the standard price) and the barn is beautifully decorated already and does not require much. From one bride to another, you will not regret booking this venue. Our day wouldn’t have turned out as beautiful as it did if it wasn’t for this venue and the wonderful people that own it!

We used the Shepard place for our wedding on 10/2/21. Emily & her family really made us feel at home & was there for the entire process of planning. The venue is gorgeous; it took little to no decorating, aside from the things we personally brought to give it the look we envisioned. Emily and her family are so thorough. From signing the contract to allowing us to come in and tour the venue whenever, she really made us feel like we weren’t just “another bride and groom”. The night of our wedding, Emily drove us around her property at midnight & had us take photos with twinkle lights, which was the perfect finish to the wedding. They even have so much extra decor & are willing to really take your ideas and help with whatever they can. It helped us out when our decor coordinator forgot half our decor the night before the wedding & Emily pulled out several of her own items and let us use them, which really helped us out. We had the venue Friday- Sunday. We got ready in the house in which the family resides and even just their own personal space is beautiful & well kept up. It gave it a homey feel. She even kept our groomsmen in check while the ladies were getting ready to make sure that every one was on the timeline that we set. From start to finish, our whole experience at the Shepard place was one I’ll never forget. The only regret I have is that I won’t be working with them again as a bride. I really loved them & the venue & how magical it made my wedding. 10/10 would recommend this venue.

The Shepard Place is beautiful and the staff are wonderful. Its pricing is inclusive so you do not feel as if you are getting any surprise charges. The staff worked with me on the lay out and let me see the venue a few times. They were not bothered with all of my questions and were more than willing to answer them. I wanted an outdoor ceremony and the staff helped ensure there was a handicap accessible aisle for my mom who is in a wheelchair. That meant a lot. Highly recommend.

One of the many perks of this venue was that Emily had a TON of decorations that she allows brides to use free of charge. They do not nickel and dime you like a lot of other vendors. It's great since there was an indoor and outdoor option for the ceremony since we can never predict the weather. Unfortunately, my flower vendor did not deliver the flowers that we were promised and paid for. Emily and her mother went out of their way to go out and buy things out of their pocket hours before the wedding, so I would have the flowers that I was supposed to have. If you are looking for a stress-free day and a beautiful venue that has everything you need, you definitely should get married at The Shepard Place. You won't regret it!

Emily and her mother went out of their way to go out and buy things out of their pocket hours before the wedding, so I would have the flowers that I was supposed to have. If you are looking for a stress-free day and a beautiful venue that has everything you need, you definitely should get married at The Shepard Place. You won't regret it!

From day 1 when we went to look at the venue EVERYONE knew this was going to be the place for their wedding. The family that owns and runs this venue are the most AMAZING people I've ever dealt with! They made us feel comfortable from the moment we met. They are so professional and sincere in wanting to make your day something you'll never forget and they DEFINETELY delivered! If my husband and I had to do it all again, we would 110% choose The Shepard Place again. It's an absolutely beautiful, rustic venue with little details to add elegance. All throughout the rehearsal dinner and reception we were told how beautiful the venue was. And I can't say enough great things about the staff! Emily went above and beyond to make sure our wedding day vision came to life. She was so easy to work with and talk to and made sure there wasn't any detail unthought of! With so many moving parts in planning a wedding it was so comforting to know The Shepard Place was continually working in the background to make sure it all blended together! The scenery around the barn was just as amazing. With so many different spots to choose from, it looks like we traveled to multiple places in our photos! The location is just far enough away from Troy to not have lots of traffic driving by during our outdoor ceremony but it was still close enough to make last second errands and family traveling very convenient. The perfect location!! I would recommend The Shepard Place over and over again. They were the perfect venue for my husband and I as well as the perfect staff to work with when it came to planning a wedding!!

I can’t say enough good things about The Shepard Place! My wife and I just had our wedding here, and it was absolutely beautiful. From the beginning, the owners and staff were very kind and friendly. When we were shopping around for venues, I felt like The Shepard Place was the only place that treated us like friends and not just customers. The pricing was very fair, and the owners were straightforward and honest with us about costs. The owners and staff were amazing as well. Emily has been awesome throughout this whole process, and she even went above and beyond to make things right when we had a vendor cancel on us at the last second- even though it was no fault of her own. She kept things running smoothly on wedding day, and I can’t speak highly enough of her. Marco and his family did a great job running the bar, and they were so much fun to be around!The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, and there is a great selection of decorations available to use at no additional cost. We received so many compliments about how beautiful everything was. The Shepard Place was the perfect venue for my wife and I, and once again we can’t recommend them enough!

My husband and I cannot say enough great things about this venue. We were able to book our September 2020 wedding in late December 2019, by a stroke of luck they had a date available! Ever since we signed our contract, they worked with us by answering emails, texts, and allowing us to come visit several times throughout the summer. We loved that they offered Friday rehearsal, Saturday until midnight, and pick up items and vehicles Sunday morning. They even have quite a bit of decor you may borrow. They were incredibly accommodating, and you won't find another venue that has so much to offer at their price point. The place is stunning. You can tell they put so many hours into maintaining their barn, lawn, gardens, and farm house. They allow you to choose your own vendors and provide bartenders. They do have a list of recommended vendors if you are having a hard time deciding! The week of the wedding we were in close contact, and by the day of the wedding they had everything perfect. Our wedding day was everything we wanted and more. Every one of our guests were amazed and even over a month later, we are still getting so many compliments about our wedding. If you choose this venue, please be respectful to their beautiful home that they allow you to get ready in and offer up kindness in return for all of the amazing things they will do for you! This venue is not only the perfect setting for a dream barn wedding, the owners are the friendliest people you will ever meet! They literally did everything hey could leading up to and during our big day. They have so many amazing antique pieces to incorporate in your wedding ceremony/reception. They have amazing outdoor ceremony locations as well as a perfect, separate level in the barn to hold the ceremony! Wouldn't have had my wedding any place else!!
