The Society Room of Hartford is an upscale wedding venue in Hartford, CT. Originally built in 1834, this setting offers breathtaking architecture that gives a show-stopping atmosphere to any romantic event. All elements of the venue, from it’s in-house gourmet catering to its attentive staff, have been selected to give you an elegant, sophisticated experience. First being home to the former Society for Savings Bank, the building was then carefully renovated and transformed into the Society Room. Its main ballroom boasts the original details throughout, from the marbled columns and bronze accents, to the sweeping grand staircase. Up to 300 guests can be comfortably seated among the main floor and the 3,000-square-foot mezzanine. Large windows are present throughout the room, with rich drapery adding to the refined decor scheme. A spacious dance floor is present in the center of the main floor, for you to completely enjoy the music at your reception. You and your guests can dine and dance underneath the extravagantly detailed ceiling and chandeliers that the ballroom features. Your and your wedding party can prepare in the onsite dressing suite, and then ease any pre-wedding jitters in their Irish pub-style cottage. You will have access to a personal wedding attendant during your big day, to help you at every turn throughout the evening. To provide an all-inclusive treatment for their couples, The Society Room of Hartford can provide tabletop setups, wedding cakes, and various bar services. In addition, the team’s in-house catering team will happily customize a menu for your celebration, to keep your guests satisfied all evening.

The Society Room was amazing from the initial planning stages right up and through our wedding day. The venue itself was stunning but the staff made everything flow so smoothly and they nailed every detail. The food was fantastic we heard about it for weeks later. It was a perfect wedding day we can't recommend them enough.

There aren't enough characters to describe how amazing The Society room team, venue, food, staff, and everything in between is. This is a dream venue. They have so many protocols in place that make the planning process SO seamless and truly enjoyable! Chris and Linda helped us tremendously, as did the many other staff members that helped us the entire way. Our families and friends could not speak more highly of every detail. And most of our loved ones have worked in MANY restaurants...some even run their own. EVERYONE was impressed. The food was literally insane. So perfect. WOAH. THIS IS A MUST HAVE FOR THOSE IN CT OR BEYOND! WELL WORTH IT. The VAULT!? They have a vault in their venue. The aesthetic alone is so grand and gorgeous. The fact there there is a balcony and multiple rooms that you guests can roam through was also the biggest plus. Everyone has such a fun time exploring and having all that space to have the best time. Like I said, I could go on! Thank you Society Room!

We are so happy with our experience at the Society Room! The space is so unique and was particularly warm and stunning for a winter wedding. The staff is very professional and incredibly organized. I felt confident leading into the evening that everything was going to run smoothly. On the day of the wedding I was really able to enjoy and not focus on the details because I knew they were taken care of. Food was delicious and service was impeccable. A real show stopper!

The best wedding venue ever!! We looked at a couple venues but as soon as we walked in and I saw the staircase and complete atmosphere of the venue, I knew we found the one! Everyone you work with is super helpful, they want your day to go as smooth as you do and they do all they can to make that happen. The day of bridal attendant was AMAZING. All our guests raved about the venue and food and continue to even after the wedding. HIGHLY recommend!

Our wedding was exactly what we hoped for :) The communication, meetings and tasting leading up to the wedding made everything stress free and smooth. The staff we dealt with throughout, especially our day-of coordinators, were all exceptional to work with. The venue is stunning, the food is delicious and the staff was flexible to some unique requests we had. I HIGHLY recommend having your wedding here. They gave us the perfect day with truly NO issues.

We booked our wedding at the society room very last minute (~6 months out), and I’m so happy we decided to have it there. The venue is so unique and really beautiful. All of our guests loved the passed appetizers and the raw bar. They accommodated us bringing in specific wine and beer we wanted to add to the package, and worked really closely with us on changing our seating plans after several last minute covid cancellations. The service was really great the day of, and Paula was fantastic to work with in the weeks before.

My husband and I got married at The Society Room in July of 2023 and we had an incredible experience from start to finish. From the moment I saw pictures online I knew this was the place I wanted to get married. Our wedding sales manager Chris Burns was excellent to work with, he was quick to respond to all my questions and helped us to plan all the little details of our evening. Everything we ate at Society Room was superb, our guests raved about their meals and the endless supply of appetizers that were provided, we especially recommend the Mac & Cheese bar, it was a hit! Society room wedding packages give you the most bang for your buck, there are not many venues of this class that offer so much in their package. The service during the reception is unparalleled from anything I have experienced as a guest at other venues. They start dinner service quickly after everyone is seated, we had 250 guests and everyone’s food was hot and we had no complaints about meal mix ups. I was impressed how quickly they got everyone served so we could start the dance party! Our personal wedding attendant from July 3, 2023 deserves a raise, I forgot her name, but she made sure there was a drink in my hand all night and we received our own app sampler plate so we could relax for a minute after our ceremony! She also seamlessly handled all the bridal suite entry requests all night! Society Room includes your cake as well, we chose Creative Cakes by Donna for our cake, it was beautifully delicious strawberry shortcake- highly recommend! From the moment we walked into the ballroom, we knew we wanted to have our big day take place at the Society Room. The venue is absolutely gorgeous, between the ballroom, the bridal suite and groomsmen cottage, and of course the vault. The detail in all of the rooms is amazing and makes for an incredible atmosphere for a wedding. The staff was also incredible to work with. They were very organized, and the whole process was a pleasure from start to finish. The planning phase was smooth, with all of our questions answered quickly along the way. The food was great, and they had plenty of options during the tasting that we could choose from for our wedding day. When the day was finally here, we couldn’t have asked for a better operations team to make sure everything went smoothly. With so many details to worry about, it was great to be able to be confident in the team handling those details for us, so that we only had to get there and do our best to hold in our happy tears. All of our guests were blown away by the venue, and we would absolutely recommend the Society Room for any couples looking to have a wedding in Connecticut!

Recently had our Wedding here and this Place is amazing! From the first time we visited to do a walkthrough, to the end of our wedding evening, the Team and staff were on point every step of the way. The aesthetic of the place is gorgeous in itself but it's food offerings and presentation just add that much more. I will admit Hartford was not on my list of places to look at for our Wedding Venue, but I feel no matter where you are looking you should at the least do a walkthrough and give this place consideration.

I cannot recommend this venue enough! The Society Room and their entire team helped me bring dream wedding to life every step of the way! The staff was extremely helpful during the planning process and always went above and beyond to assist with my requests. On the day of, the team that was at the venue could not have been any better! The ensured that every single one of our guests were satisfied and that we, as the Bride and Groom were truly catered to! I never went without a drink in my hand or food in my mouth the day of the wedding! As a very type A bride, they helped move my day long perfectly on time, down to the minute! Additionally, as someone who brought in an abundance of decor, with very specific placement requests for everything, they absolutely NAILED IT! Everything was where it was supposed to be and I could not have done it better myself. Additionally, they packed everything up exactly as it came! The food deserves its own review! Many of my guests said they felt as though they went to a five star restaurant for dinner rather than \"Just another wedding venue\". It was truly delicious! They were also wonderful with adding a few things that we wanted that weren't necessarily on the menu. This entire venue was a dream come true, but the icing on the cake for it all was getting to watch my groom, family and bridal party come down the aisle for the ceremony from the second story, while I waited to come down the steps. What other bride can say she got to watch her entire processional!? It was truly so special!

The Society Room of Hartford helped me have my dream wedding! My guests raved about how fabulous everything was! All the staff was excellent, sending timed emails with important information prior to the big day, keeping you on track with the timeline which took away so much stress. The package deal of the wedding having almost everything included was so easy and took away the stress of multiple vendors. Food, drink, and decor was so classy, I have nothing poor to say about this wonderful venue, definitely 5/5 stars. Everyone to my salesperson Kelley, to Paula and Melissa who I spoke with often were so quick to get back to you with any question or concern, making you feel like you are the only bride when you know they are juggling multiple other events and weddings! The day of coordinators Mel and Des were incredibly sweet and helpful, keeping everyone on track! If you’re looking for an intimate venue worth your money, look no further! The first and only venue I looked at because it was everything I ever wanted!

This venue is absolutely beautiful, and we got so many compliments! The pictures out on Pratt Street were perfect, and the vault was a big hit. The bride (myself) entering down the spiral staircase for the ceremony made everyone tear up, and the bride and groom entering from the stairs for the reception made for perfect pictures. The staff were so helpful and the food was amazing!! Easiest choice we made.

Our DREAM day! We cannot say enough good things about The Society Room! From the moment we stepped inside during our tour, we knew this was the place we would be married. The venue is just stunning and unlike anything else around. From the very beginning, Melissa and Paula were a dream to work with. So incredibly responsive to emails and questions; I never felt like I was bothering them at all. They coordinated so well with our vendors, it was one less thing for us to stress about during the planning process. Everything leading up to the wedding day was easy and seamless.The actual wedding day was just perfect. The food was INCREDIBLE. Our guests raved about it that night, and still are. Jonna was a true angel and took care of my husband and I all night, keeping our plates and drinks full and making sure we were happy, which we were! If you are looking for a beautiful, unique, incredible space with delicious food and the best service around, definitely book here. You will not be disappointed!

We fell in love with the Society Room from the moment we stepped foot inside. It is such a stunning venue. The staff were helpful throughout the planning process, answering all of our questions and concerns. The wedding day itself was amazing. Everything looked great, the food tasted delicious, and the staff and attendant were great. My only concern was the staffing of the bar during the cocktail hour. We had about 160 guests and the bar had a constant line with only one bartender at the bar at some points while the other was busy restocking and such. But after that, the bar was perfectly fine for the remainder of the reception. Overall, everything was great and it was an incredible day!

The wedding planning process can be stressful, especially in the midst of Covid. But my husband and I are so thankful that we made the decision to have both our ceremony and reception held at The Society Room. The entire process was seamless and the communication from Paula and Melissa was excellent. Not only that, you can tell that the entire staff cares about what they do and want the couple to be able to actually enjoy this momentous day in their lives. The location is perfect for out of town guests as well to get from the airport to hotels close by and to be within walking distance of the venue. The ballroom is stunning and historic, with the vault providing a perfect setting for photos that delighted our guests throughout the evening. The food is out of this world, and our guests all commented on how delicious (and beautiful) their meals were. Honestly, we cannot recommend The Society Room highly enough!

My husband and I are SO happy we went with The Society Room for our May 2022 wedding. We were really looking for a place with character, and that is the primary reason we chose the venue. Simply, it's gorgeous and unlike anything else we looked at in our area. It was the perfect combination of being a unique space while also being big enough to accomodate all of our guests in one area without separating them or feeling cramped. They made the planning process so easy and were always quick to respond to all of our questions. The way they schedule the meetings, reception item drop offs, and communication ensures that the day of the wedding is seamless with nothing to worry about from the bride and groom perspective. Additionally, it's located right next to some great hotel options and bars which made it easy for our guests to walk everywhere they needed to get to. We are so happy we picked The Society Room and I can guarantee that you would be as well!

For a NYE Winter Wedding, The Society Room checked off all the boxes and then some!! The venue is certainly one of a kind and walking down those stairs at the start of the ceremony is an experience I will NEVER forget. Unfortunately, we had to postpone our wedding from NYE 2020 to NYE 2021 but Jim and the staff did the most AMAZING job at ensuring that we could easily transfer everything to the new date and guaranteed we would always get the night we envisioned. I believed they handled the covid situation perfectly, being fair and compassionate for all couples during that difficult time. The Society Room was the only venue that would allow us to go to 1:00am on NYE (others shutting down at 12:30) and that made the party go on even longer. They were extremely accommodating with a few requests we had for food and their all inclusive packaging style made the process very easy. They were NOT wrong. The day of was extremely organized and our guests described the evening as one of a kind—feeling like they were at a wedding but also gala at the same time. Response time was always efficient, which was helpful planning from a distance. My guests raved about the service, food and bar staff—fun and friendly! Guests did not have to wait long for food, leaving more time for the dance floor, which was another priority for us! The Society Room had a plan for service to ensure that there would be minimal wait times, which was great to know going into the night! My husband and I were so happy with our decision!

Every single day this past year, my husband and I have thanked our lucky stars that we were able to book our wedding at the Society Room. Not only is the venue just absolutely breathtaking--literally every single guest could not stop gushing--but Jim, Paula, Melissa, Desmond, Jonna and the incredible team make planning a wedding a breeze! As an anxious bride, I cannot stress enough how easy they made it for us. We live in Ohio and the team was so accommodating, allowing us to visit multiple times with different family members to make sure this was the right venue. They are exceptionally organized, flexible and committed to keeping things easy for the couple. Society Room provided suggestions for vendors, coordinated with the selected vendors directly, organized the most amazing Tasting (tip- definitely come hungry!) and, of course, ensured the wedding day went flawlessly. I cannot stress enough my appreciation and love for this team. If you're looking to make your wedding day unlike any other, work with the Society Room Team. You will not regret it!

Our wedding was AMAZING!! I can't recommend the Society Room enough. We booked this venue the week before everything shut down for COVID. Originally we were supposed to have a 4/3/21 wedding, but things weren't open in time, and the SR was great about helping us postpone to 4/2/22. Their wedding packages are super inclusive, and they made the wedding planning process as easy as possible. We still have guests raving about how cool the venue was and how great the food was! The day of was such a smooth experience. We got to work with Desmond and Jonna and they were wonderful! I highly recommend, and I hope I get to attend a wedding at the SR some time in the future!!

We brought in a lot of our own decorations, and SR set up everything perfectly. They treated our guests wonderfully. SR breaks down every detail of the day for you. The most beautiful venue we’ve ever seen. So worth it!

We had a great experience with the Society Room. Covid impacted our original date and our rescheduled date and they were flexible and worked with us around this. On top that of, their communication was always timely, which is so appreciated during such a stressful time.The venue itself is gorgeous. We didn't end up touring any other sites after seeing The Society Room because we knew nothing else would compare. We received so many compliments from our guests on the venue and the food. The staff are amazing, there was never a line at the bar, which was important to us! Our bridal attendant was on top of everything the evening of the event. We hope to be able to get back to The Society Room to enjoy the venue as a guest in the future!

I had the pleasure of getting married at the society room this past December. Everything went better then I could've ever imagined. The food was delicious, we still have guest three months later talking about the food at our wedding. The society room provided us with service that was above and beyond what we could've ever expected. They were extremely helpful with rescheduling our wedding 2x because of Covid as well as with putting out all the decorations and small details my mom and I had made. I can not recommend this venue enough if you are looking a one of a kind 5 star wedding experience.

We cannot say enough good things about Society Room. The ballroom and mezzanine were absolutely stunning for our winter wedding. There is such a “wow factor” at SR that you don’t get in a traditional wedding ballroom or tent. SO many of our guests came up to us to ask how we found SR and to say how blown away they were when they walked in. It is gorgeous!! The food was also exceptional. Our guests continue to rave about the braised beef short rib and scallop entrees we had. My husband and I are foodies and had high hopes, and the food absolutely beat our expectations! Lastly, the employees at SR are incredible. There wasn’t a single time where I was concerned about things going smoothly the day of. I felt so well taken care of and in the hands of professionals the entire time. Jonna was our bride & groom attendant the day of and was amazing!! We were making our rounds saying hello to tables when dinner was coming out and she made sure to check in with us and have our dinner brought out once we were back at our table so it was hot. She always made sure we had a drink, and she made sure we knew where we had to be and when for intros. Everyone we worked with was professional, friendly, kind, and attentive. We would do it all over again exactly the same way. AND it’s reasonably priced for what an impression it makes. We couldn’t be happier with our choice to have our reception here!

Working with the Society Room was an amazing experience. From the moment we walked in, we knew this was the place we wanted to have our wedding. The decor is so well done, the bank vault is gorgeous and the ceiling is beautiful! We had to cancel our wedding due to COVID and the way the Society Room treated us made us know we picked the right venue. The planning, the support and the ease of communication was excellent. Everyone was so helpful and supportive over the 2 years from booking until the reception.The wedding day went down flawless. My guests were so impressed with everything from the venue itself to the DELICIOUS food! I hope to one day make my way back here as a guest! I highly suggest this beautiful venue run by an excellent staff!

The Society Room had us before we even walked into the venue. After finding the space on The Knot, we were hesitant to check it out since I knew it would be out of our budget. We decided to schedule a tour anyway since other venues we had seen weren't checking the boxes. We were immediately entranced with how beautiful the space was and I didn't know how any other venue could match up. Lucky for us, Paul, the managing partner, was so wonderful to work with and was able to work with our budget. As a 2x covid bride, wedding planning was very stressful but The Society Room helped navigate us through all of the trouble. When we postponed the first time, they were incredibly accommodating and understanding. When they omicron variant hit, Paula and Melissa were so wonderful and prompt to reply to every email I had sent them about last minute details, concerns, etc. Des and Mel were by our sides the entire day/night making sure everything went off perfectly and it DID. I had plenty of people telling me to be prepared for hiccups the day of our wedding but that was not the case for us as The Society Room made sure our day was absolutely perfect (and it definitely was). I still have guests reaching out to me as everyone was blown away by the kindness of the staff, the beautiful venue, and amazing food and drinks. Thank you so much to The Society Room for finally giving us the day of our dreams, a day we will never forget!

The Society Room made all of our elegant and romantic winter wedding dreams come true! The entire staff was incredible from start to finish. They reassured us along the way, and were so supportive and kept us in the loop throughout the process. We also got to attend a tasting prior to choosing the meals/apps for our event, which I know many venues are no longer doing during this pandemic. Leading up to our wedding, there was a COVID surge that added to the stress that comes along with planning a wedding, but Paula, Melissa, and Desmond were wonderful and accommodating. They addressed all of our concerns, and helped to alleviate some of our stress. Our wedding was an incredible, unforgettable, and practically flawless evening. We received so many compliments from guests saying that it was probably their favorite wedding they’ve ever attended. The food, the service, and just the aesthetic of the venue was perfect. Special shout-out to Johnna, our wedding day attendant, who was just so lovely and sweet, and anticipated our every need throughout the night. I would absolutely recommend the Society Room to anyone planning a wedding or special event!

This venue was absolutely majestic and exceeded all our expectations. The ornate design and decorations provided beautiful backdrops to every event throughout our wedding. We took our “first look” pictures in front of the grand wooden door. We read our vows underneath the towering curved window draped with an almost tapestry-like set of maroon curtains. The ceiling fixtures bathed the ballroom with a glowing warmth that set the tone for the whole evening. Our guests gazed upon the artful designs adorning the ceilings, not to mention the colossal marble pillars reaching up to them. The bank vault made for such a unique and picturesque scene like something straight out of a movie. In addition, the tables, seating, dishware, and silverware blended so well into the overall aesthetic.A beautiful venue is nothing without proper planning and coordination, and we have to say the Society Room exceeded in these regards, as well. From the moment we met with Jim and Melissa expressing our initial interest in this venue, we were met with helpful, responsive correspondence to all our questions, concerns, and requests. In the midst of a pandemic and the uncertainty it posed, we felt much more secure in our planning by having a team we could easily communicate with. In terms of service, the Society Room was unparalleled.As for the food, the venue delivered a delectable assortment of dishes. The hors d'oeuvres were tasty and flowed endlessly throughout cocktail hour from the refreshing shrimp cocktail to the zesty mini buffalo empanadas. The entrées led to many clean plates, with the braised short rib & mashed potatoes easily becoming a fan favorite. The staff were extremely accommodating to all food allergies and dietary restrictions. They worked with us closely during prior planning, as well as the day of the event, making sure to double-check with each guest before serving their plate. Finding and booking The Society Room of Hartford was Godsent after being cancelled from another venue due to then closing to the public for a private client (not cool!). The venue is absolutely stunning from top to bottom. It's an old bank and the way they transformed it is nothing I have ever seen before. There is nothing that Melissa, Paula and their team didn't cover at each meeting. They made the process for our wedding seamless and beautiful! The food was amazing and people are still talking about it after a month! The photobooth Vault is amazing! This place is good for all celebrations and I have been spreading the word to those I know who inquired about our experience. If we are still living in CT in 10 years, I think we will have our celebration there!

We hired the Society Room of Hartford to host our wedding reception, which was supposed to be May 2020. With the national pandemic, we were forced to move our date not once, but twice. The Society Room worked with us to ensure everything was moved accordingly. It was difficult to have to wait a year and three months for our wedding reception ( due to pandemic) but we were so thankful to the Society Room for making this uncharted process as seemless as possible. When we did have our reception, it was absolutely perfect! Beautiful venue and delicious food. We couldn’t of asked for better.

What can I even say about this place other than the people, the venue, the FOOD - everything was truly and unimaginably spectacular!!!! We had originally booked our December 2020 wedding at the Riverhouse but CT shut down all venues for the rest of the year. We were offered true flexibility, kindness, and solidarity throughout a very tumultuous time. When it was time to rebook, Riverhouse didn't have any Saturdays available so we asked if we could check out availability for The Society Room. We had went to see that venue first and it was my (now) husband's favorite. They said yes without hesitation and seamlessly moved our entire event over to the Society Room.We got married there on 7/10/2021 and I am STILL receiving compliments daily about how unique the venue was, how delicious the food and drinks were, how fun the entire celebration was - we got our dream wedding after all, I had been wanting to cancel this thing since we got postponed. I would never gotten the chance to see how amazing Melissa, Desmond, Jim and the entire Society Room crew were. I cannot thank them enough, our wedding was perfect TRULY. I wish I could relive that day a million times. No one can match the attention to detail and thoughtfulness of the Society Room and Riverhouse. You guys are wonderful and I can't thank you enough!!!

This venue was my Cinderella/Downton Abbey dream come true! I always wanted my fairytale princess royal wedding and this venue produced! The building looks like a castle and you get the building, not just a room or hall. Jim the owner is the proud owner of the society room and can help you envision your dream wedding upon your first look. My bridal attendant Johanna was fabulous and wonderful too! I had my dream wedding and it all started with the venue. The society room thinks of everything a wedding needs and includes it in the price! Parking, hotel stay, cake, bar, it's all included. No renting of table linens or chairs this venue delivers! I'd do it all again with the Society Room!

Despite planning a wedding throughout Covid and from another state, the staff of the Society Room helped us create and experience our dream wedding. Everything from the food to the atmosphere exceeded all our expectations. I just want to say how accommodating, professional, and friendly the Society Room was to me and my husband! We had picked this venue back in November of 2018 for a June 2020 wedding. When COVID-19 hit, they were very understanding and gave us several dates to choose from for a new date, all without loosing any of our security deposit or payments made up to then. When we finally had our wedding in June of 2021, the planning and preparedness of the staff was top-notch. Even the tastings were well organized! We had a prohibition-style/speakeasy theme for our wedding reception and the Society Room staff played their part with the details and decorations that I didn't even think of such as the set-up for the harvest table and the wedding favors! A BIG shoutout to both Melissa's and Desmond and his staff! We were looking for something that was all-inclusive with regards to ceremony, reception and catering and the Society Room hit it out the park on all levels! Our wedding guests are STILL talking about how much they enjoyed themselves at our wedding! Thank you so much for making wedding day so special!

Originally booked the society room for a May 2020 Wedding . The venue is lovely inside. We rescheduled once due to covid and did not wish to reschedule yet again when we were once again asked . They were not offering options to accommodate the state mandated gathering restrictions as it would not be beneficial to them. They offered us a refund for our deposit In June which which we are grateful for- but have still yet to see. While we understand they have encountered hardships with the pandemic - so has everyone else .

They made our entire wedding experience so stress free and gave us a day beyond our wildest dreams.We ended up going to visit the Society Room by mistake (we had intended to visit their sister property when I went to make the appointment) and it was the best mistake I could have made. They gave us the wedding I never could have possible thought we could have. The venue itself is absolutely stunning. We have gotten so many compliments from our guests at how beautiful the day was. Not only that, I have gotten so many comments about how GREAT the food was. My husband was THRILLED over the mac & cheese bar. The staff was incredible on the day of. THey took incredible care of us and our guests.Leading up to the big day, Melissa was an absolute pleasure to work with. She answered all of my questions so quickly and put all of my anxieties to rest. She made the process so easy and stress free.The Society Room set everything up for us and broke everything down. Compared to some of my friends and family member's weddings I have been a part of, our process was so stress free and the venue went above and beyond to make sure that anything they could help us with, they did. We had such a magical day and I would give the Society Room 10 stars if I was able to. I HIGHLY recommend them to all couples looking for a stunning and stress free wedding day!

I had the greatest night of my life! The event staff here at the Society Room were beyond amazing! They were extremely helpful and super knowledgeable. It has only been 2 weeks since and I’ve already had so many different people come up to me and tell me how incredible the venue was. The food was just as amazing! We were able to customize and personalize a menu. It was by far the best wedding food We’ve ever had! I also loved how this is a one-event space so we could really enjoy everything they had to offer. Just over two weeks ago we had our wedding reception at the Society Room in Hartford, CT. We visited countless venues in the greater Hartford area but none of them captured our vision and ideal day like the Society Room.The ambiance was breathtaking including the large stone pillars, wooden bars, two storied ceilings. The venue was everything we could have asked for and then some!The staff at the Society Room is really what sold us at the end of the day. We worked with Melissa Sundholm as our event coordinator and she was fantastic! Every time we had a question (which there were many) she was always available to help and make sure that we were prepared for our big day. We even had a private tour of the venue with Jim the GM of Riverhouse Catering on a Sunday to ensure our parents could see the venue before we signed off. The commitment of the folks at the Society Room is second to none.Special shoutout to the event day staff Desmond, Melissa, and Hailey (we are sorry if we missed anyone)! You were all amazing and went above and beyond to ensure we didn't worry about a thing.The food is AMAZING. Best wedding food I have ever eaten and our guests all really enjoyed their meals. Compliments to the chef!Overall, The Society Room was the perfect venue for our wedding reception and we honestly would work with them again if we had the opportunity to do it all over. I honestly don't know where to start except to say that everything went absolutely perfectly from planning the wedding to the actual wedding night. We worked with Melissa at the Society Room who was was such a pleasure to work with. She was accommodating, supportive, responsive, detail oriented and always professional. The Venue speaks for itself, it has a TON of character that made our wedding a little more unique than some of the other traditional indoor venues. We had a large wedding and utilized the top and bottom levels for our reception. At first I was a little worried about this, but it was SO awesome. After dinner, everyone who was upstairs came down to dance. The food was delicious, from cocktail hour to dinner everything was executed perfectly. I also really loved the way they invited 50 couples to an event to sample and select food choices in advance of the meeting. Service the night of the wedding was also incredible. I received really positive feedback from all the guests, and my husband and I couldn't have been happier. Price was really reasonable considering the quality of food, service, environment. Overall, I would 100% recommend this venue to anyone planning their wedding. There wasn't one thing that went wrong and we had an amazing experience working with Melissa and the rest of the team at the Society Room. I am so thankful we chose it for our day.

This venue is a dream and I feel so lucky I was able to get married here! I first found The Society Room when I was just casually browsing wedding venues in Connecticut, before we even got engaged (who hasn't done that!) and when I saw pictures of those beautiful doors and the staircase inside I was in love. Even better, when we sat down and really looked at all that the Society Room provides for its couples that we realized what an amazing deal this venue is. The ‘all inclusive’ aspect of their service is what sets them apart from many other venues we looked at. They take care of so many parts of the process and for the services they don't provide themselves, they have amazing vendors they can recommend and have worked with before. This made us feel so at ease and knowing we were in Melissa’s more than capable hands during the planning process was incredibly reassuring.When we started booking our other vendors for the day, we knew we had made the best choice when many of them expressed excitement at being able to work our wedding at The Society Room and praised the venue’s professionalism and good food!We were living across the country while planning our wedding and The Society Room took so much stress out of planning our big day, they made it actually feel easy. Everyone commented in the week before my wedding that I was one of the least stressed brides they had ever seen and I can say without a doubt that was due to Melissa, Desmond, and the entire team helping me ensure every detail was perfect. The food was phenomenal, the service was amazing, and then you're surrounded by such an elegant and glamorous space, all of our guests were talking about how perfect our wedding day was. Many even said it was one of the best weddings they've attended! This is entirely thanks to the hard work that was put in by the venue leading up to and on the day of our wedding and I am so grateful for it. I can't imagine having my wedding anywhere else. Everyone at The Society Room went above and beyond to ensure that our day was what we had envisioned. They were very accommodating with food allergies and even helping us to get a few Kosher options for guests. The location of the venue is super convenient to anywhere in Hartford. Most of our guests just walked from their hotels the night of. The venue itself is so unique with the historic 20s feel. Plus where else can you take photos in a real bank vault! We had the absolute best day and so did our guests!

Our wedding day was honestly the best day of our lives!! The Society Room was phenomenal. I worked with Melissa throughout the planning who was so organized and wonderful to work with! On the day of our wedding, the managers and our Bridal Attendant, Johnna, were FABULOUS. They checked in on us constantly and communicated with our vendors. We didn't have to worry about anything and were able to enjoy our time with our guests! Johnna over heard me in the bridal suite talking to one of my bridesmaids that I hated champagne. After that, she let me know that she put sauvignon blanc (which was what I was drinking) in my champagne flute instead for our toasts. I was so impressed!!! She truly took care of us and made us feel very special. The food was amazing as well. The mashed potatoes were out of this world and the hors d'oeuvres were perfect! We are still getting compliments from guests that it was the best wedding!! I wish I could go back and relive the day over and over!! <3 Thank you everyone at The Society Room!!!

I'm so glad we chose the Society Room! We received so many compliments about how gorgeous and unique the actual venue was and on the food! I was nervous about planning a wedding from out of state but there was no need! Melissa, Desmond, and Jonna were all extremely professional and helpful. Melissa was the coordinator before the big day and answered any and all of our questions which was fantastic! Desmond and Jonna were there for us on THE DAY and were everywhere! They worked very hard to make sure we had fun and we did!! So thanks! They also gave us pointers on what to expect and I especially appreciated Desmond's advice of not to look at the officiant during the ceremony! Our pictures of the ceremony look awesome because we were staring at each other not the officiant!! Jonna made sure I had everything I needed! We had last minute changes to things at the final meeting and Melissa and team were extremely accommodating! Overall it was the little things they did or helped with that really made our day! What a great professional team! Well done!

She was very organized, helpful, and accommodating. She made the process seamless and did everything she could to make our dream wedding come true. We always looked forward to our meetings together. The venue itself is beautiful and unique- we loved that it didn't look like a typical wedding hall. It has a lot of character and provides a great atmosphere. The food was amazing, and they had great add-on options- we had a late-night fry bar that everyone raved about. I knew I wanted to get married at The Society Room before I was even engaged. The charm of the building and romantic feel was exactly everything I had dreamed of. It’s such a beautiful, hidden gem right downtown. When I got engaged last year, we booked that as our first place to tour venues. After that, no other venues we saw compared, so we chose to get married there January 5, 2019. Not only was the architecture gorgeous, but the service was top notch. Melissa did an amazing job of guiding us through the wedding-planning-process and helping us with every little question we had. With a 210-person wedding we needed all the help we could get. One of the best parts of the planning process was the grand tasting event 8 months before our wedding where they let you try EVERYTHING on the menu before you choose your own menu-even down to the wines you wanted to serve. We loved that. Our guests RAVED about the food the day of the wedding, and after, saying they had so many different and fun food options. On the day of the wedding, Cecelia and Desmond (the director of operations) took over and everything was flawless. All the decorations were put in place perfectly and anything we needed, we got with no questions asked. At one point, I even asked for pliers because my bustle wasn’t staying together and they had those, and a needle and thread ready just in case. It really felt like we were royalty for a day! Guests have been saying it was the best wedding they have ever been to (I might be partial) but I agree! I hope I’m able to return as a guest again some day.

The Society Room was the first venue we viewed to host our wedding reception. Given the positive reviews we had from other people and from browsing reviews online plus the stunning architecture and character of this building it was a no-brainer that this was the setting and theme around which we wanted to build our wedding. We booked them about a year in advance, maybe closer to 11 months. With a December wedding you have to compete with holiday parties for the time you want. We went with an afternoon reception, which was cheaper and gave us more flexibility for an after party. From start to finish this venue is a professional and well-oiled machine. Once you've booked you meet with your wedding coordinator several times to go over details and plan everything just the way you want it. They host tasting parties with other couples getting married around the same time you are to help you decide what food you want to serve on the big day. And they put you at ease knowing that your wedding day is in good hands so when the day arrives and you don't remember all the fine details, they have it covered. Our wedding was an amazing day celebrated with friends and family and we have The Society Room to thank for hosting and executing our wedding flawlessly!

The Society Room is by far the most beautiful venue in the Hartford area. My daughter and I had looked at several places for the wedding, and when we walked into the Society room, we both looked at eachother with a nod of approval and relief. The Food was excellent, as well as the service. Bar was fully stocked. The staff was very accommodating as far as personal things that we wanted to add. The ceremony was also at Society Room which was beautiful as well. If you are looking for beauty and elegance, look no further. I assure you that you are getting the best!

Everything about The Society Room was perfect for our wedding! We knew on the first meeting with Melissa that this is the place we wanted to get married. We were planning a wedding from out of state, and Melissa and everyone at The Society Room made the process so incredibly easy. They were more than flexible with our schedules and last minute changes to meeting times. The planning process was seamless, they even helped me shape my vision for the wedding day when I wasn't able to make decisions. I had some last minute allergies come up the day before the wedding and without hesitation they were able to change those meals for my guests. The wedding day was perfect. My husband and I each had an attendant who always made sure we had a drink if we wanted it and reminded us to eat. My guests had an incredible time and can't stop talking about how AMAZING the food is! If you're looking for a venue that will take away the stress of wedding planning and has superb service and amazing food with an incredible ambience, The Society Room is for you!

Beautiful Venue, it is just a stunning scene (that gets 5 stars) but the way we felt we were treated gets the 3 star rating. It was almost like we were a burden on them to be there. For the amount of money you pay per plate, you'd think they would be a bit more accommodating. They give you a bunch of reasons why they can't accommodate something rather than reasons why they can. Very strict on their policies and they don't bend on anything. At times it felt almost like they didn't want us there! Ladies with the sales team were always responsive when I had questions, but you have to be sure you are asking. The day of was a bit stressful, the last thing I wanted to do was be on the phone with them (as we are walking out of the church) to tell them they have to move around some things in the ballroom (that they were less than thrilled to accommodate). Bartender the night of was very rude to my guests. Food was great. Overall, I just wish they were easier to work with. As I said, it is a beautiful venue, I'd recommend it if you are looking for the beauty of the venue itself, but they were not the easiest to deal with!

They were so organized and responsive - I had dozens of questions in the lead-up to the big day, and they helped plan the truly perfect day for us. We had gone to a lot of venues searching for the right one. When we went to the Society Room we fell in love. It is an absolutely beautiful venue, we had not seen anything like this before. We fell in love. We had our meeting with Melissa, who was so professional and so nice. We ended up booking for our September 9th wedding the next day. Through the whole process Melissa was amazing. Any questions I had (even the silly ones) were answered right away. We love that they do a tasting for the booked couples. The food was phenomenal. We were able to make our food choices because we had tasted everything. I also had a request that no pork be served and it was no issue to modify the harvest table to remove the pork. Our next meeting/walk thru was with Melissa and Desmond, and they were both amazing. We walked through everything, they took inventory of all of the items we brought (décor and candles). We were also having specialty desserts and they said that was no problem. Working with the professional staff at the Society Room just made this stressful time so much easier. From the moment that we found The Society Room in our venue search, we knew it would be the perfect setting for our special day! From first contact, to wedding day, Melissa was prompt, thorough, and patient when working with all of our questions and concerns. When we arrived for our rehearsal, the bar and tables were already set with our decorations and centerpieces, which helped get us even more excited for our wedding day. There was a late hiccup, as we found out two days prior that Pratt Street would be shut down for an event, leading up until the ceremony, but Melissa handled my concerns very professionally and calmed my nerves by offering several reasonable accommodations. Desmond and Johnna were incredibly attentive and the night flowed very smoothly and efficiently. Our guests raved about all of the food, from the hors d'oeuvres through dinner, as well as the spectacular setting. I would absolutely recommend The Society Room to any couples seeking a classically classy setting for their special day!

My husband and I were extremely happy with our wedding at The Society Room a week ago. Melissa and her team were very helpful in the planning process and answered all of our questions. The venue workers made sure to place our decorations in the manner that we had wished and went above and beyond. On our special day, the venue made sure all of our guests were attended to and pleased. The one complaint I have is that prior to the ceremony, we were given no direction in preparing for the day. We were also told there would be someone to assist in bustling the dress, however the woman did not know how. My advice to upcoming brides would be to ask about the concerns above and make sure you get the assistance that you deserve on your day of to avoid any unneeded anxiety. Other than that one complaint, our day was absolutely amazing and special to my family and my husband

My husband and I had our wedding at The Society Room a couple of weeks ago and we had an absolutely wonderful day!We knew The Society Room was the place for us as soon as we walked in. The building is stunning inside and really does sell itself! We were also blown away by the food provided by Riverhouse catering both at the free tasting and on the day. With the combination of the beautiful setting and amazing food,we knew our guests wouldn't be disappointed.The staff at The Society Room are absolutely wonderful and so lovely to deal with. Whenever I contacted them about something to do with our wedding day,the response was always extremely quick ( something which is not only reassuring but avoids frustration when trying to organize so many things!).On the day itself, the venue looked absolutely amazing. The event was ran like clockwork and all of our guests went away commenting how elegant and flawless it was. The only thing we would say is that sometimes they are all business at a party. We had a couple of background issues on the run up to the day and the day itself and this is the only reason why I couldn't award a full 5 stars. The issues themselves were minor in the grand scheme of the day and not something which affected our guests,but were things that did affect us. They were related to personal preferences. For example, we were originally told that we could bring in our own bottle of whisky for a corkage fee to the groom's cottage, but the story changed to yes we could bring it but only if they served it, to no you cannot bring it and it can only go behind the bar at the reception. In addition to this they do not allow whisky served neat which was an utter disappointment to us as that is my husband's drink of choice and he couldn't have it on his wedding day. Perhaps the worst error was though that they wouldn't serve the beer in the groom's coattge that was suppose to be ready upon arrival despite my husband asking for it twice. They brought it out when the doors opened by which time him and his friends were away to welcome guests. The champagne was out in the bridal suite for me and the girls and the poor boys had water and soda only. They did apologise for this but there really was no valid reason as to why this happened. Despite these issues we would recommend The Society Room as it really is such a unique and wonderful place where we had an absolutely amazing wedding ran by professionals. Not only this,but we felt that in terms of cost per head it was much more reasonable compared to other venues nearby that didn't have nearly as nice a setting. We were pleased with the final cost ( we opted for a Friday where the minimum numbers were lower). It was also great not having to worry about the weather on the day as the venue is obviously indoors!It did rain and thunder a bit on our day but we were oblivious as we were partying away inside!

Beautiful venue with kitchen in house. Food and appitizers were great except for their fish entrees. (I highly recommend the short ribs)You have to watch your guest count if you want all our guest to sit on one floor. Everyone was very friendly to work with expect when we got closer to the wedding. Everything seemed rushed at a time when the bride and groom and trying to figure out other details. We told originally that we could bring our own beer in and they would buy it from us but that story changed when it got closer to our wedding. We brought our own beer in but had to pay for it ourselves plus pay an additional fee to clean the lines. The day of I wish we were treated a little better - my brother in law bought my bridal party a nice bottle Champaign to enjoy in the bridal suite and they would not let him bring it to us. Guest couldn’t take home food they didn’t finish wish I wasn’t happy about because we paid for those meals. And the part that I really didn’t like is that our wedding ended at 4:30 and at 4:35 my guest were literally getting yelled out to leaved because another wedding was coming in at 6. We totally understand we need to get out but didn’t need people to raise their voice at me or my guest. There were definitely ups and downs but we had a nice wedding and that’s the important part.

We had a BLAST!! Our brunch wedding was this past Saturday, 3/31. Our coordinator Melissa V., our attendant Melissa, and Cecilia were phenomenal. The day was absolutely perfect from start to finish. There are always a few unexpected hiccups, but all of the staff were there to smooth things out the entire way. They are all utmost professionals and are the best at what they do. Melissa V. was so helpful and responsive to all of my questions and happily accommodated my many trips to the venue with my family, photographer, musicians etc. prior to the big day. Cecilia was one of my favorite parts of the actual wedding day! She had everyone exactly in place, was perfectly on schedule and is on top of every single detail. She is superwoman! Our attendant Melissa was so gracious and kind; it was the best to feel like someone was there watching out for us to make sure we had food and drinks, or if there was literally anything we could possibly need.I've been receiving rave reviews from our guests about the food and the gorgeous venue ever since; a few people have said it was one of of the best weddings they've ever attended. Most importantly, TSR staff made the entire experience as stress-free as possible so my husband and I were able to have an amazing day full of love, friends and family!

From the first time we met Kirsten and the rest of the team at The Society Room of Hartford, we were blown away by their expertise, service and ability to work with our vision for our wedding. I’ll admit, we were a little difficult when insisting on a few parts of our wedding. With grace and aplum, the team at Society Room accommodated every single request they possibly could, going above and beyond when it came to pre-booking communications, concessions from their kitchen and service team, everything was the absolute top tier of service. And the venue… what an incredible, unique, elegant, opulent, awe-inspiring space! It was timeless, classic and warm and perfectly fit the European princess vision. We had 180 guests at our wedding, so we put the younger folks on the second floor and they all came down to dance after dinner and the rest of our guests fit very comfortably on the first floor with a 7 piece band and large dance floor. We missed most of our cocktail hour but snuck a peak at the setup while we were taking photos and again, above and beyond what was discussed as the vision, they took everything to the next level and exceeded expectations at every turn. We had a server attend to us the entire night, and service for all our guests seemed smooth, courteous and plentiful. My husband works in the restaurant industry, so food was of major importance to him when it came time to plan our wedding. The open house evening where we were allowed to taste all their hors’ d’ouevres and many of their entrees was such a smart, unique way to invite all brides and grooms for the upcoming season to try the food, and see the space set up for an actual wedding to help initiate ideas about how our reception would look. We had some feedback on the food and the team was happy to change things, while working within the strengths of their chef, and even offered a tasting of the updated menu items in a few ways so we could taste and decide on a final menu. All the food was delicious from the exceptional cocktail hour, to dinner and fantastic late night snacks.We were both looking for a transformative space to celebrate with our loved ones. We found that in the Society Room, alongside an incredibly trained staff and an exceptional wedding planning crew that made planning our wedding reception as seamless as possible. Kirsten and Melissa were with us every step of the way. They answered emails immediately, were creative to make sure my wedding vision came to life perfectly, and addressed all of my concerns thoroughly. The hardest part about having our wedding in that space was getting everyone to leave and go to the after party. We cannot recommend The Society Room of Hartford enough!!

The venue is stunning and the food is to die for, but what really sets them apart is their amazing staff. Kirsten and Melissa were with me every step of the way. The day of, the three managers took care of everything. Jonna made sure that my fiance and I got appetizers in the bridal suite, sat and ate our dinner and never had to wait in line for a drink. At the end of the night, they packed everything up for me and brought it out the car for my dad. From the moment I visited the Society Room, I fell in love with how beautiful it is. It has a very romantic, elegant ambience. The sales staff is very friendly and responsive to my many e-mails throughout the planning process. The venue offers a mock wedding which I really enjoyed. At the mock wedding, you get to see the venue set up for a “wedding” and try every hors d’ourve and meal option. This was great because some things I thought I’d love, I didn’t. And some things I wouldn’t have considered, I loved. The hors d’ourves were amazing (my favorite was a mini smoked gouda corn chowder boule, so good. The BBQ braised short rib was also amazing as a meal choice, everyone loved it). For the week of the wedding, I loved that I filled out all of the paperwork and boxed all my reception items ahead of time to drop off and review at the final meeting. It was a relief to drop of the reception items early. The actual wedding was amazing. I had both my ceremony and reception there. They have a beautiful staircase for the bride to walk down before going down the aisle. As for pictures, we took most of our pictures right outside on Pratt street which was a great option. There is also a very cool, old bank vault that guests liked taking photos in. The reception ran wonderfully; I had an attendant Jonna who was very attentive, got me drinks all night, brought my veil to the bridal suite for me, and just checked in to make sure I was doing okay. At the end of the night, all of my boxes were packaged up and we were able to cart them across the street to the Residence Inn where we were staying (the hotel across the street was a great convenience). I had a wonderful experience with the Society Room and am so grateful for the entire staff who made my wedding day so wonderful.

We could not have picked a better venue for our wedding. We worked with Kirsten who was SO on her game and absolutely perfect. The food was absolutely spectacular, our guests couldn't stop raving about how unique and beautiful the venue was, and our bridal attendant was a life saver. The best part for me was that all we had to do was show up - there was not one thing we had to do the weekend of the wedding - they have everything exactly as it should be. We even had a hiccup with a vendor before the reception that the operations team took care of before we even got there and we never even knew it happened. I will recommend this to any and every bride and groom - you will not regret your decision if you choose the Society Room. I wish I could relive it again and again.

We got married at the Society Room exactly one month ago today, and we could not have been happier with everything. I've honestly been trying to figure out how to capture the perfection of the Society Room aptly, and while I don't think any words would do it justice, I'm going to do my best to try.The space itself is gorgeous. There's nothing else like it in Connecticut, and it's richness and grandeur is evident the moment you step inside. You will be in the best hands. From the moment we started planning with Kirsten (shout out to her especially...she answered our million questions and made us feel so comfortable), to the day of operations team, to our bridal attendant that was always where we needed her during the wedding (thank you a million, Melissa!), they are absolute perfection. As someone who may be a bit of a control freak, I had every confidence in the world that this team would handle everything expertly, and they did not let me down. They delivered in ways I couldn't have predicted, from setting up our Photo Booth in the vault, to the way they set up all of our decor, to running and grabbing a few items from the bridal suite for us (twice!) to handling an issued with a guest -- just everything was taken care of in the best possible way.The food was fantastic! All of our guests raved about the appetizers and entrees. Go for the late night fry station, it was a huge hit! All in all we could not have picked a better location for our wedding and if you're aiming for an elegant, classy wedding, this is the place for you!!Thank you again to the entire staff! Wish we could do it again!

Our guests kept raving about it. Second, the price was right and included the wedding cake, which just made things that much easier. Third, every single person who dealt with us from the Society Room was so helpful, personable, understanding, patient and accommodating. They were so organized and detail-oriented which is just what every bride needs to guide her through the process. They all made things so seamlesss. Fourth, my other vendors were extremely familiar with the Society Room. They also felt comfortable asking the staff questions directly, without me having to be the middle person. Again, it made everything so easy! Fifth, the food was delicious. My husband is a foodie and he loved everything! I would highly recommend this venue for any event. Our wedding was at The Society Room on March 25th and it was absolutely AMAZING! The staff there made the planning process so easy and took care of everything for us. They were so kind and made us feel like royalty! All of our guests were floored by how beautiful the venue is and how delicious the food was. They still can't stop talking about how great it was! I always thought an experience like this would be way out of our budget, but The Society Room makes it affordable by including the food, open bar, and even cake in the price per head. That really helped us save on vendors and know what we were spending upfront. I can't say enough about how wonderful our experience was!
