The Theodore is a historic wedding venue located in Birmingham, AL. Situated in the heart of the city’s old industrial neighborhood, the property lies at the cross-section between Birmingham’s past and present. An ideal choice for a style-conscious couple looking to make a statement, it is a truly distinct setting for a big day. An adaptable setting for parties of all scales, its central location makes it accessible to guests arriving from far and wide. Birmingham’s Lakeview Industrial District is an area defined by Birmingham’s rich history. This carefully restored venue boasts exposed brickwork, hardwoods floorings, and the warehouse’s original barrel trussed ceilings. An Art-Modern inspired space, its open-plan design and high-reaching ceilings allow ample natural light to flood the interior. From above, show-stopping chandeliers of cut glass shine down upon guests adding an element of sophistication to proceedings. With its multiple stylish spaces, The Theodore is a truly flexible venue that can welcome parties up to 750 guests. In addition to the main rooms, there is also a private suite, The Swann Room, that can be used as a get-ready space. The party can step outside and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of the neighborhood thanks to the venue’s private porch and courtyard space. Wedding vendors from caterers to bands can set up out of sight in The Lab, a back-of-house space that features a loading dock and kitchen. The property has an exclusive agreement with Beyond Details Catering and Design. One of the city’s foremost events companies, their menus are replete with modern takes on classic Southern comfort dishes. We are so happy with how everything turned out from start to finish with our experience with The Theodore. There was never a stressful moment which is hard to avoid when planning an event. We loved how the venue handles almost all services. This was a huge factor in our decision on a venue. The food is so great. The fried green tomato/bacon and pimento sliders are to die for! We are still getting compliments on the food. Hire this vendor. You will not be disappointed!

We knew the moment that we emailed The Theodore that this was the right fit for us. They responded within minutes. We emailed 8 venues and it took the others over a week to respond. This set the tone from the very beginning. Everything was top notch. The wedding day was amazing with a top notch staff. Our guests complimented the food, service, venue and cocktail. I cannot imagine not having our event at The Theodore.

Our daughter's November wedding reception was at The Theodore and what a night! It was the perfect venue and there was nothing we would have changed! Working with Jakob was wonderful; he was so easy to communicate with and promptly answered and attended to our every question and need! He planned the most spectacular tasting; it sure made it hard to select our menu! The food was delicious! Our wedding planner, Jenny Dansby was just superb! What a joy and blessing she is! She brought such excitement to each of our meetings and made us feel like our reception was her Number 1 priority! She is so thorough with her planning and covers every single detail! She is just an amazing person! Because of Jenny and her team, I was able to enjoy every single moment of my daughter's reception knowing that Jenny was handling everything! And the flowers! Suzanne, from Stems and Styles, did such an amazing job! She transformed The Theodore into exactly what we wanted it to be! We continue to get compliments! Where do I even begin? The Theodore has been a wonderful experience through and through. Given that we have had a long engagement, the planning process has been extensive to say the least, but Jakob the venue owner has become more of a friend than “the owner” to my family and I. Every time we had a wedding planning meeting at the Theodore, he played fun music/checked on us/ and voiced how excited he was to see it all come together. Another fun aspect was the wedding menu food tasting that The Theodore hosts every few months. Our food tasting at the Theodore was lovely, and made choosing our wedding food menu so hard because of how many amazing options we had to pick from! They do have their own in house catering company, which make the process convenient and easy as you make your selections. Another wonderful aspect of the Theodore was that it’s a one stop shop for rentals. Jakob has put together a wonderful look book for all their clients that lists all of their inventory. This makes the choosing of all your rentals so fun and easy. You can’t go wrong since all the furniture and rental selections are so beautiful. Jakob is extremely professional, and has the greatest list ever of pre-approved vendors that will definitely point you in the right direction to plan your big day. He made the recommendation of the greatest wedding planner of all time, Erica Thomas, who has been nothing short of incredible the entire process. Jakob’s exact words to me were “Erica won’t just be a planner, she will become a lifelong friend.” And BOYYY was he right, and I still appreciate his advice to this day as she has been the biggest blessing. A lot of venues do not include the little things that make or break a wedding day that can often go unnoticed, but Jakob thinks of everything. Our wedding is in three weeks, and I can honestly say that I trust Jakob and The Theodore staff COMPLETELY to make sure the day goes smoothly and perfectly without a single bump in the road, and it will be a night my fiancé and I, our family and friends will NEVER forget!

We recently had our oldest daughter's wedding at The Theodore. It was the PERFECT venue. Not only was the space beautifully decorated, the service was beyond what we had expected. The food was delicious, too. Jakob made us feel comfortable in several decisions and was easy to work with. Highly recommend the venue and you MUST get Jenny Dansby for your coordinator. She was an absolute joy to work with.

Still on Cloud 9 after our daughter's wedding - The Theodore was a DREAM, and truly exceeded my expectations. Jakob and Todd were great to work with, and helped guide us with the flow and design of the whole event. The food was amazing, and since I was talking too much during the event to stop to really enjoy the food, was glad we got to do a tasting a few months before the wedding! I may request joining another tasting just so I can enjoy it all again. I also truly appreciated their patience with me and all my questions and requests (@Jakob, IYKYK). My only complaint was that it all went by too fast, and I wish I could go back and do it again in slow motion.....Highly recommend working with Jakob and Todd at The Theodore - our whole vendor team was tremendous!

First of all, Jakob is just amazing. He made us feel so comfortable, and he never made us feel like we had a dumb question, and believe me we had a lot! He was always timely in his response, and he just made the whole experience very enjoyable. He has great advice and ideas. The Theodore was the perfect spot to celebrate for the reception after a downtown church wedding. it was so open, and people could move around easily. It was nice having the two separate rooms, one for the band and one for the meal so older guests could sit in the other room to take a break from the band if they wanted. The food was delicious - everything was top notch - we continue to get a stream of positive comments from everybody! Having the two bars and 4 lines for the buffet was genius. My daughter was so pleased with everything. Also, Todd was so gracious in helping my father in law in with his wheelchair - they have a lift and it was no problem. The valet parking is also a nice touch. Everything the Theodore does is first class. Thank you to Jakob and his team for making my daughter's dream wedding a reality. Y'all are just the BEST! The Theodore was exactly what we wanted for our wedding! The space was beautiful and fit our 180 guests with room to spare. We used both bays and the outdoor space for guests to spend time during the reception. The food was delicious - especially the Ahi Tuna poke bowls! We were so happy with the way our wedding turned out. Jakob was very responsive to any questions we had along the way, which we really appreciated. He was willing to work with us on personal touches that made the night one we will remember forever!

When trying to decide on a wedding and reception venue, we had made 4-5 appointments one Saturday back in 2021. Our first visit was to The Theodore. Jakob walked us through this beautiful, historic venue and spotlighted the large inside spaces (2 of them) 1 for the reception and 1 for the ceremony, the bridal suite, the groom's suite, the outdoor space, complete with corn hole, and bar options. We were sold from the very first moment that we stepped in to the venue and even more sold on Jakob and his wonderful personality and grasp of our vision for the wedding and reception. We did NOT make any of the other venue visits, we were completely sold on The Theodore.Throughout the entire year of planning and preparations, Jakob treated us like family and was very attentive to our every request and need. He made planning the event effortless and fun. And, when it came to the tasting to make food selections, it was hard to decide from the many delicious options that he presented to us at our tasting. Not only were the samples delicious, but the mock set up for the table settings were just beautiful.On the weeks and days leading up to the wedding and reception, Jakob would check in to make sure we had everything we needed and to make suggestions if we were needing help with anything at all.The day of the wedding and reception could not have been more perfect. Jakob, Todd and the entire staff made sure we had anything and everything while we were all getting dresses, even had the College Basketball tournament on for the guys getting ready in the grooms suite. Needless to say it was a magical day, everything that we could have imagined and more!!! The decor, the food, the bar, the service, the lighting.... everything was spot on.I highly recommend Jakob Lee and The Theodore. We have made a very special new friend and he really \"loved\" us like family!!

I would 100% recommend this venue to any other couples on the fence about booking The Theodore. We had an amazing wedding here! Jakob was accommodating during the entire process. Months before the wedding, he hosted a food tasting at The Theodore in which my husband and I were able to taste a variety of the foods offered at the venue. The food was amazing and I was impressed at how extensive the menu was. If there were any questions I could easily email Jakob and receive a swift response. I was also very shocked to see how attentive he was on the day of the wedding. After what seemed like millions of pictures and being pulled in every direction he always made sure to come around with some appetizers and drinks ready for us to consume when we were able to escape the crowd. It's these little things that made the difference for us. Not to mention your photos at this venue will look amazing! We have received several compliments from our guests in regards to the grounds of the venue and the food. So if you are still thinking about this venue, think no further and book! You will certainly not regret it!

We had the best experience with The Theodore! Not only did everything turn out EXACTLY the way we envisioned, but the interaction with every person was also so pleasant and familiar.

When looking for the perfect venue for my daughter we had visited several places in Birmingham. We came to The Theodore and met with Jakob - we knew that we had found “the perfect Venue.” From the planning process to the day of Jakob was so easy to work with. Jakob was wonderful at communicating with us about every detail and most of all we had a blast working together.The venue itself is so beautiful and the wedding night was just amazing. It was everything my daughter had imagined it to be and more. If we could do the planning, wedding process again- we would not change one thing!! Thank you Jakob, staff and The Theodore for the memories!!

Our wedding was on December 4th and as clique as it is to say it was a perfect day. Our perfect day was accented by a wonderful venue and a even better event staff. Jakob and his team (along with Erica with Blush and Bashful events) made our day easy and seemless. Their transitions from ceremony to cocktail and from cocktail hour to reception we’re effortless. The event space fit our vision and provided comfort to our guests. Every staff member that we encountered was smiling, polite, and genuine in there interactions with us. The food that was prepared was top tier. We had stuff pork tenderloin with apricot chutney, carrot soufflé, bacon and Brussels and they were ALL something to rave about. However, my favorite was the crab cakes topped with pimento cheese. I could have eaten my weight in those! Thank you again Jakob and team for making our wedding unforgettable.

Having 2 other daughters who were married within the last 2 years, I couldn't imagine my youngest getting a proposal so soon! The other two Birmingham venues that my daughters were married in could not hold a candle to The Theodore. The customer service was absolutely the best. Jakob was so communicative, and has tons of insight on the wedding industry in general. The Theodore handles everything - Catering through their partner catering company - Beyond Details along with linen rentals, china rentals, decor and even a huge inventory of luxury lounge furniture! It's so easy when everything can be coordinated through one person versus having to communicate with so many vendors. The food. Omg. The food. My guests talked about the food and the amazing cocktails provided by The Theodore the entire night. I wish I would have found this venue sooner - I would have had my first two daughters weddings there!

Booking this venue was the best decision we made in the wedding planning process. Working with Jakob was amazing. He was attentive to all of our needs and went above and beyond to ensure everything was taken care of. He was always a step ahead. The food which is done by their catering company is absolutely amazing. Our guests are still talking about the FOOD! I also love the fact that they house a huge inventory of FURNITURE AND DECOR. It was so nice having a venue which does almost everything including valet parking! I would not change one thing if I had to do it all over again!

The Theodore was the perfect place for my husband and I to have our June wedding. The venue itself encompasses an industrial feel with warmth brought in from massive windows, tall ceilings, and the large open space. Jakob, the venue coordinator/manager, was the easiest person to work with. He was very accommodating to help our day go off without any issues. He also made sure to go out of his way to help us find decor item and food options from their in house style guide and catering menu. Having the decor, food and bar in house was a game changer. It eliminating having to coordinate with a bunch of vendors, and Jakob's team did a phenomenal job with hospitality the night of our wedding. Everyone raved at their service. It was also very helpful at the end of the night to have all of the cars valeted. The street is quiet during the weekends, but having a valet service is just another perk the Theodore offers. Overall, the venue was way more than we could have asked for. If I could repeat my wedding night I would have it at the Theodore everytime.

I cannot say enough great things about The Theodore, a brand new venue located in the heart of Alabama. The exposed brick paired with modern touches throughout the building adds the perfect amount of southern charm.
