The Thompson Inn and Cyderhouse with its lush grounds is situated on a hill overlooking the Lamprey River and tree lined farmland on a quiet country road. We offer you and from 100 to 150 guests the rustic elegance of our newly renovated cider mill and attached timber frame barn, our beautiful grounds with options for outdoor ceremonies, and the inn's epic veranda, deck and gazebos. Our Inn has 10 rooms available to accommodate you and your guests before, during and after your special event! Our onsite chef uses local farm fresh produce, meats and seafood when available. What a venue! We discovered the Thompson Inn canoeing the Lamprey River and instantly fell in love with its charms and beauty. It was our obvious first choice when we got engaged. We looked at other venues in the area, but the Thompson Inn won us over with their professionalism and flexibility. We were able to work with the planners to create our perfect timeline which included a short ceremony, a two hour cocktail hour, and extended reception. The planners were very easy to talk to and brainstorm with, any ideas we brought up or unconventional requests we asked for were accommodated with ease. They made the entire process enjoyable and stress-free! The venue, from the Inn, to the grounds, to the Cyderhouse are just stunning and the food was to die for! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the inn with our wedding party and being able to remain on-site for the ceremony and reception made everything comfortable and convenient.

This was the only venue we even considered looking at and it was absolutely perfect. I first drove by the Thompson Inn ~5 years ago and saw a beautiful wedding happening and I immediately knew that I wanted to get married there someday too. In the fall of 2021, we booked the Thompson Inn without touring any other venue. Lori and Stephen were so welcoming and kind on our initial tour of the inn & cyderhouse. After we booked, Lauren, our coordinator, was so communicative and responsive to all our questions throughout the 2 year planning process (we got married in September 2023). She always got back to us so quickly with an answer and was so helpful at every step of the way! At our final venue walkthrough, we met with Lauren and Arielle to go over our options in case of rain. I really wanted to hold the ceremony outside and we determined that with our guest count, we’d be able to hold our ceremony under the back patio awning if it rained and wasn’t too windy. This was the perfect solution and I felt much more at ease with our backup plan! We held our rehearsal dinner at the Inn too! We were able to pick and choose dishes we wanted from our tasting and from the menus provided to create a truly customized experience. The Inn & Chef Alex were so flexible and accommodating to our vision. The morning of our wedding, we had a delicious breakfast at the inn of fruits, pastries, coffee, eggs, etc. all prepared by the inn staff. The breakfast was a delicious and perfect way to start the day. The bridal party opted to get ready in the cyderhouse and the groomsmen got ready in the main suite of the inn. The bridal party had plenty of room to spread out while getting ready at the cyderhouse & we opted for the mimosa bar to kick off the morning which was an excellent choice. Throughout the day, Arielle was so helpful with everything! From helping me with my veil, to making sure my bustle was in place, she helped with it all! We were lucky enough that the rain held off and we were able to have the ceremony outside under the oak trees. Everything was absolutely perfect. Our vendors kept commenting about how smoothly everything went throughout the entire day! For our reception, we created a custom floor plan because we really wanted to have a large dance floor. The setup of the reception was just what we’d envisioned too! The DJ even commented on how packed the dance floor had been at the end of the night. The food was amazing and we had so many guests tell us it was the best wedding food they’d ever eaten (two relatives even told me it was better than the meal they’d had at the Black Trumpet the night before)! Overall, the day was an absolute dream and was so stress free! The inn staff did an amazing job coordinating with all our vendors and making sure everything ran on time and without any hiccups. I’d highly recommend this venue in a heartbeat!

The Thompson Inn is the BEST of the best. From the moment we booked a tour at Thompson Inn we were made to feel welcome. Lauren was wonderful from the initial meeting all the way through our wedding day. Throughout the process Lauren answered our questions, minimized our stress, manifested our vision, and she did it all seamlessly with close attention to details at every corner. On the day of our December wedding, Hayley was just as organized and helpful, making sure our decorations fit in the space, and setting things up in a timely manner, allowing us to soak in every moment. Let's not forget Chef Alex, who's culinary creations were not only beautiful, but delicious. Chef Alex and his staff were accommodating to our needs, and executed our menu to perfection. Our guests are still raving about each course, and we can't wait to visit again for a wine dinner. The whole team at the Thompson Inn was fabulous to work with-warm, organized, creative, meticulous, and just lovely. We appreciated their expertise, and know that it wouldn't have been the same without them. We were looking for a rustic and elegant venue that had elements of natural and modern beauty and The Thompson Inn and Cyderhouse truly encompasses that vibe. The space speaks for itself. Had my wedding here and wouldn’t have changed a thing! The staff is so professional and takes care of every detail. Food is excellent as well. Having the inn onsite makes for a really fun weekend with your bridal party, and a great after party location as well. All of our guests were so complimentary of everything about the venue.

My husband and I got married at the Thompson Inn in October 2023 and cannot say enough about the venue. From the wedding planning to the chef to all the staff, everything was perfect!! We stayed at the Inn with our family during the wedding weekend and it was clean and felt like we were at home. It was the perfect space to host our welcome drinks and gather with all our family and friends before the wedding day. The breakfast they served in the morning was our favorite part! They provided so many options and the food was just delicious. The wedding planner Lauren was amazing to work with. Leading up to the wedding she answered every single question we had and was very quick with responses. Lauren made our weekend and wedding day go so smoothly, we were so grateful to have her there. Every single staff member at the Thompson Inn truly made you feel a part of their family and were right there when you needed them. The other best part of this venue is the food. The food was truly the best food we have ever had at any wedding we have been too. They are also AMAZING with food allergies. We had guests who had pretty severe allergies (one being gluten soy and dairy) and they were able to eat so much, some of which they haven’t been able to eat in a while (get the chicken tender bar!!!) Chef Alex you are such an incredible chef! Our family and friends won’t stop gushing over how delicious the food was and how amazing the venue was! We are so glad we picked Thompson Inn to have our wedding! We cannot wait to go visit the venue for any events they host!!

You might as well stop looking because this venue has it all. The Thompson Inn was absolutely perfect and my husband and I couldn’t be happier we found them. The inn, the food, the staff, and the location were all incredible.Starting with the food - chef Alex is a genius. The food was emphasized by all of our guests as the best wedding food they’d ever had. The passed apps were all delicious, fresh, and made with local ingredients. The attention paid to guest dietary restrictions was also worth noting as Alex was incredibly flexible and creative. The only downside is that Alex doesn’t have his own restaurant that’s able to visit after the big day!The inn on site was the perfect place for family and wedding party to stay and eliminated the stress associated with having to travel between destinations. Everything was clean and so welcoming. The inn keeper, Stephanie, was readily available and knowledgeable about anything that guests might need. The staff overall were incredible, but special note has to be made of Lauren - the on site coordinator. She was always accessible via email during our planning process and the weekend of it felt like she had multiple body doubles with how much she was able to accomplish. Every little thing was thought of, even before we had a chance to ask a question. For example, after our ceremony my husband and I were directed by Lauren to have a private 5 minutes with our signature drinks and a tray of appetizers. She ensured we ate, kept everything on schedule, and was an absolute dream to work with. Her leadership sets the tone for everyone working on site and we couldn’t have been happier with everyone’s professionalism and attention to detail.The location itself is stunning right on the Lamprey river and the flexibility to move inside easily if there is rain was great. It did end up raining on our date and it was a total non-issue with how accommodating the Thompson Inn was.Overall we were thrilled with our experience and give the highest recommendation to use them as your venue. My husband and I couldn’t be more grateful we found them.

We couldn’t have asked for a better team or a better venue than the Thompson inn. Every detail and every hiccup was taken care of without us having to even start to stress about it. It was our absolute dream wedding and venue. And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention Lauren. Lauren was just incredible. She answered every question we had (even in the middle of the night) and took care of everything. That girl was nonstop all day for us and wore so many hats, I don’t know how she does it, She even snuggled our 5 month old daughter multiple times throughout the day/night so we didn’t have to miss a single moment of our wedding. I will forever be grateful to her. I would pick the Thompson Inn again and again.

We had a Sunday wedding at the Thompson inn and cyderhouse and it couldn’t have been more perfect. There was a wedding the previous night and the housekeepers had the venue cleaned and ready for us.. I don’t know how they did it!! Our guests raved about the food (Chef Alex is a wizard) and Lauren was fantastic. The whole event was so easy and beautiful, it rained and the wonderful staff were able to switch up our event plan on the fly. I love every single staff member at this venue, everyone is friendly, kind, helpful, and genuinely dedicated to making your wedding dreams come true.

We had a Sunday wedding at the Thompson inn and cyderhouse and it couldn’t have been more perfect. There was a wedding the previous night and the housekeepers had the venue cleaned and ready for us.. I don’t know how they did it!! Our guests raved about the food (Chef Alex is a wizard) and Lauren was fantastic. I would describe The Thompson Inn as more of a wedding experience than a venue. The Thompson Inn was the second place we saw, and we knew instantly that it was the venue for us. They offer several elements that most other venues simply can’t compete with, such as a dedicated on-site chef that handles every meal for the weekend, a talented coordinator, lodging for ~20 people in a space that blends past and present, and an all-around amazing team. The property itself is less than 10 minutes from downtown Durham, so nearby lodging and transportation was super easy to coordinate.A few of our favorite things from the weekend:The Inn: Thoughtfully renovated, beautiful, and so comfortable. Having the flexibility to stay here with our wedding party felt like a mini vacation with our closest friends. The convenience of having everything we needed on-site all weekend was great. Being the only event on the property, you get the true VIP treatment and don’t feel like you have to be in an out.The Food: My sister is still raving about Chef Alex’s chicken from our reception, and I am still dreaming about the pastries from breakfast that weekend. I was told by at least 10 guests during the reception that ours was the best wedding food they had ever had. Chef Alex is also super flexible and accommodating, ensuring a nut-free kitchen as my husband has a severe allergy. He catered to guests with all sorts of dietary restrictions while still bringing creativity to every dish.The Team: We felt taken care of at every turn from the moment we set foot on the property. Everyone was gracious and helpful. Our coordinator, Lauren, is the definition of professional. She made it easy to collect all of the details for the weekend and went above and beyond to make sure that things looked perfect. The big things went perfectly, but it was the little things that really made us smile, like ensuring that we had a private moment to enjoy drinks and appetizers at the onset of cocktail hour. Kat is a jack of all trades who kept the inn well-stocked for us all weekend and ensured that I always had a mimosa or anything that I needed all day Saturday. Chef Alex and the front of house staff are the best of the best at what they do. We had to deal with a potential hurricane impacting the area on the day of our wedding. Lauren walked us through several options and recommended an area of the lawn that was even better than our Plan A.The Property: Meticulously maintained and speaks for itself. You could do very minimal décor here, as every area of the Cyderhouse is fresh and has its own personality. The stone fireplace, wine cellar, and chandeliers. Everything is just gorgeous.Working with The Thompson Inn was a truly all-in-one experience. We didn’t have to bring in much (ex: you can rent candles directly from them, they have lots of tables and easels) and you can have several events throughout a weekend as there are multiple spaces (cocktail hours, rehearsal dinner, farewell brunch). Not having to worry about more logistics made it even easier to relax and enjoy ourselves.I wish there wasn’t a text limit because I could go on and on. The Thompson Inn is so much more than a wedding venue – it’s a group of people who love what they do, and it is apparent in the way they care for their couples. I would describe The Thompson Inn as more of a wedding experience than a venue. The Thompson Inn was the second place we saw, and we knew instantly that it was the venue for us. They offer several elements that most other venues simply can’t compete with, such as a dedicated on-site chef that handles every meal for the weekend, a talented coordinator, lodging for ~20 people in a space that blends past and present, and an all-around amazing team. The property itself is less than 10 minutes from downtown Durham, so nearby lodging and transportation was super easy to coordinate.A few of our favorite things from the weekend:The Inn: Thoughtfully renovated, beautiful, and so comfortable. If you are thinking about booking Thompson Inn, DO IT. We got married there 2 weeks ago and our guests are still raving about it. From start to finish we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The inn on property is gorgeous and makes for such a relaxing setting the whole weekend, bring able to stay on property the whole weekend is such a relaxing feeling. The food is delicious and our guest said it was the best wedding food they had! Everyone that works there truly cares about you and your wedding and works to make sure your day is perfect!

If you are thinking about booking Thompson Inn, DO IT. We got married there 2 weeks ago and our guests are still raving about it. From start to finish we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The inn on property is gorgeous and makes for such a relaxing setting the whole weekend, bring able to stay on property the whole weekend is such a relaxing feeling. This venue was everything we were looking for from the start. We had multiple tours set up and this was our first, we choose it and cancelled all other tours. A weekend location with everything in one spot! No worrying about travel from the venue to hotel after the wedding, no rush in setting up décor or handing off to someone else and no concerns about what we are going to do after with guests who want to continue the party longer with us. Having the weekend venue really helped not make it feel like we blinked and our wedding was over which I was worried about with a typical 4-5 hour venue. Friday I was able to set almost everything up for our wedding and know everything was how I envisioned it which put my mind at ease. We then got to enjoy an amazing dinner rehearsal in the wine cellar and spend the night celebrating and relaxing with our family and wedding party. The venue is gorgeous, the grounds, the cyderhouse and the inn. The outdoor ceremony under the oak trees was gorgeous and just the setting I wanted. I can not say enough about the venue coordinator Lauren, she helped everything go smoothly the entire weekend, and went above and beyond to make our weekend amazing, she felt like family that truly cared. The staff at the Inn were so kind to us and our wedding parties, Isabel in particular who we saw everyday and made sure we had everything we needed! The food is amazing, both presentation wise and taste, it all blew us away at our tasting, Chef Alex was great. We had nothing but compliments after our wedding about the venue and the food! I will forever be happy for finding this amazing venue that definitely made our wedding the great memory it is! Highly, highly recommend!

Booking the Thompson Inn was hands-down the best decision we could have made for our wedding weekend. From the minute we stepped on the property to tour The Thompson Inn and Cyderhouse, we knew this was the perfect fit. The grounds, cyderhouse, and inn are each as stunning as the next. We wanted a “destination” wedding feel, having all of our family and friends in one place for the whole weekend, without having to travel far. The Thompson Inn let us do just that. It wasn’t just a venue, it truly felt like our home for the weekend. Every single member of the team was an absolute pleasure to encounter at every point in our planning process and throughout our weekend. Lori and Steve welcomed us with pure kindness and open arms from Day 1 of our planning. Lauren, the day of coordinator, made sure the entire weekend went off without a hitch. From the start she made us feel so at ease, being our go-to for any and everything, and was such an incredible person to have by our side every step of the way. The kindness exhibited by ALL of the Cyderhouse and Inn staff, was such a blessing. Haley (the front of house manager), Stephanie (the innkeeper), and Kyle (the groundskeeper) were all ready to jump in and lend a hand with anything at a moment’s notice. The chef was over the top accommodating to my food sensitivity, and just did an INCREDIBLE job on every meal (our guests have still not stopped raving about the food and the portions)! And the waitstaff even joined us for a song on the dancefloor…it was THE BEST. The whole weekend the Thompson Inn team was all hands on deck, and everyone was always willing to lend a hand wherever possible! I cannot emphasize enough the importance of this DREAM TEAM on our wedding weekend…because of them, our wedding vision was brought to life. As our weekend came to a close we realized how bittersweet it was…not only was our wedding weekend over, but we truly felt like we were leaving such wonderful friends we had made in such a short time here. We got married at The Thompson Inn and Cyderhouse on 6/24/23 and it was everything I could have hoped for and more! This was the first venue we looked at and put a deposit down immediately. I really wanted a venue that we could make ours for the whole weekend and The Thompson Inn was perfect. The ease of not having to leave the property from Friday morning through Sunday afternoon took so much stress off of us. We had rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception and after party right there and Lauren (the day-of coordinator) ran everything from the rehearsal straight through to the end of the ceremony. From the beginning everyone at The Thompson Inn made the process so easy and foolproof. Lauren, Stephanie and Lori were the most accommodating, helpful and easy to work with. They have clearly done this hundreds of times and it shows! Everything went to plan the entire weekend, any questions I had leading up to the day were answered immediately and we had super organized meetings, questionnaires and check-points along the way. The weather was constantly changing up until 20 minutes before our ceremony and Lauren and the staff moved our ceremony inside and out multiple times without stressing us- and I can confirm inside or out is beautiful there! They knew what to do in every situation and we truly had free rein of the property all weekend. The Inn was perfect for hosting our bridal party and family, everyone raved about how comfortable the beds were, we had trivia games on the front porch and were even able to host our after party right there and stock the full fridge with our own food and drinks. The food was INCREDIBLE. Our guests are still talking about it. Alex is such a talented chef and we really loved the private tasting we had in January where we got to meet Alex and talk through the menu with him. The venue itself is stunning and there is so much space. The getting ready room and balcony in the Cyderhouse was such a nice spot to spend the morning with my bridesmaids and family and the lawn and fire-pit outside were also a huge draw for us. Our main goal was for the day and the entire weekend to feel like a fun getaway for us and all our friends and it truly did. We would book it again in a heartbeat!

Each staff member we met greeted us with such kindness. Being able to book the venue for the entire weekend was the best! Knowing that we would be the only wedding of the weekend made the whole process seem less “wedding factory” and more focused on us and OUR wedding. We loved being able to get there Friday mid morning and set up the decor, and talk more with Lauren and the other staff regarding our “vision”. The planning process: We booked the venue in October of 2021, for a July 2023 wedding. Throughout the entire 1.5 year planning process, the Thompson Inn was extremely responsive with all of my questions. Lauren (day of coordinator) was extremely knowledgeable and organized. Each time we visited the Inn during the planning process each staff member always had a smile. The inn + rooms: The inn has 10 rooms. It has just the right amount of old charm while still being new. Stephanie (the inn keeper) is so sweet, and showed us where everything we could possibly need was. Each room was extremely clean. The beds were SO COMFORTABLE. Having use of the entire inn, including full size refrigerator was super helpful. The inn porch was one of our personal favorites about the inn. The rehearsal + rehearsal dinner: Lauren led the rehearsal. She was organized and gave clear instructions to everyone in our wedding party. We left the rehearsal feeling confident that the ceremony would go smoothly. We chose to have our rehearsal dinner at the Thompson Inn on Friday night (not required). We had it in the porch at the cyderhouse, which was perfect for a summer night. They set up for the rehearsal dinner. We chose the BBQ dinner option and it was DELICIOUS. Everyone RAVED about the food, and there was plenty of it. The welcome party: After our rehearsal + dinner, we chose to invite out of town guests to the inn + grounds for a “welcome party”. I had my wedding weekend here May 2023. I cannot stress how absolutely amazing this place is. The staff are awesome, the chef is extremely talented, and the property is stunning. I had the best weekend ever, my guests cannot stop talking about their experience- food, venue,... etc. If i could go back and do something differently that weekend, i honestly wouldnt changed one-single- thing. AND it rained on my wedding day. With the rain we had to make a quick change to have the ceremony inside which originally i was bummed since my vision was outside but it was even more beautiful inside and so romantic with the weather. The Thompson Inn and Cyderhouse was literally the first place we visited when looking for our wedding venues. Keep in mind, my wife and I are super indecisive and take a long time to make a decision. However, we knew the Thompson Inn was our place immediately. Lori (the owner), along with Lauren and Stephanie (planners and organizers) made us feel valued, communicated frequently, and informed us throughout the entire wedding prep process. The venue itself is all inclusive, meaning between the Cyderhouse and the Inn they have everything you need. The Cyderhouse has a beautiful reception hall, a full cooking staff, and a beautiful wine cellar for the rehearsal dinner. The reception hall was the perfect size for our wedding of about 125 people complete with a full bar. The Inn is about 50 yards away which we rented for the entire weekend and it housed the complete wedding party. The inn has a full kitchen, dining area, and bar. Each guest room has a full bathroom and is very clean. Between the inn and the Cyderhouse are two huge beautiful trees which we got married beneath and a fire pit is just adjacent. We had access to this whole area all weekend and it was truly an incredible experience. Highly recommend considering this venue for your wedding or next event!

My husband and I got married at The Thompson Inn on 4/8/23 and our day was beyond perfect. From start to finish the process truly was so smooth. Being able to stay with your favorite people for the whole weekend without any bother really was what won us over! The Inn is absolutely stunning, from all the rooms being unique and clean to the breakfast ready for you in the am, to the fire pits outside it was perfect!The Cyderhouse? JUST as amazing. All of the staff was helpful and kind during both rehearsal and wedding night. Our guest are still talking about the food from both events. My husband and I got married at The Thompson Inn on 4/8/23 and our day was beyond perfect. From start to finish the process truly was so smooth. Being able to stay with your favorite people for the whole weekend without any bother really was what won us over! The Inn is absolutely stunning, from all the rooms being unique and clean to the breakfast ready for you in the am, to the fire pits outside it was perfect!The Cyderhouse? JUST as amazing. All of the staff was helpful and kind during both rehearsal and wedding night. Our guest are still talking about the food from both events. The Thompson Inn & Cyderhouse is the perfect venue for your weekend wedding. We knew it was going to be our venue as soon as we pulled up the drive and were greeted like old friends. Why? The Thompson Inn feels like HOME. Not only is the inn spacious, clean, and provides space for your nearest-and-dearest to be with you, but it was the PERFECT spot to host our welcome reception and Sunday brunch. And the Cyderhouse? You guys. We were able to have a HUGE dance floor while still having some of our favorite humans within arm's reach. Our guests are still talking about Chef Alex's dishes weeks later. Everything about our experience here was perfect. From the staff, to the accommodations, to the venue, to the frantic scramble the team did to find me eyelash glue when one of my eyelashes started to fall off (OF COURSE they had it). We hosted our after-party at the inn and it was incredible to have our guests safely walk across the way. And with an incredible hotel just down the road, you can make sure there's room for everyone at your event. I hope you'll consider this incredible venue. We booked The Thompson Inn from a FaceTime call with owner, Lori; through the screen we could tell that this place and its people are something magical and we were right! From the initial booking to wedding weekend, the team at The Thompson Inn were kind and immensely helpful. The weekend itself was like it was out of a dream. We had the entire property all weekend long, giving us ample time to decorate, celebrate, and spend time with our family and friends. Post-wedding many of guests reached out to let us know that it was one of the absolute best weddings they had attended, and that the food was amazing. An exact quote from my (now) brother-in-law, who stayed onsite over the weekend, while eating breakfast Sunday morning: \"I'm really sad this is my last meal here, so I am savoring every bite\". Yes, the food is THAT good - thanks Chef Alex! It was truly the best day ever, and I honestly do not think it would have been as great as it was if it were not for the venue and its amazing staff. Special shout out to Lauren and Stephanie for being so organized and so genuinely kind - thank you for helping to make our day extra special. When we first visited the Thompson Inn, we knew we'd be picking it for our wedding - and we are so glad we did. It is a truly gorgeous venue with amazing grounds, a spacious and welcoming inn with large guest rooms and a generous sweethearts room, and a stunning reception hall in the Cyderhouse. Everyone who works at Thompson is so kind and goes out of their way to make the lead-up to the wedding easy on the couple. Once we had figured out all of the details and made our decisions, they took care of everything, and the day itself ran as smoothly as we could have hoped for. Our wedding went as well as we could have possible hoped, and most of that is due to the folks at the Thompson Inn.A special shoutout to the coordinator, Lauren, who is totally awesome. She is both no-nonsense and detail oriented while also incredibly easy-going and willing to accommodate any and all requests, usually responding to our email questions within an hour or two. My wife had lost her dancing shoes prior to the reception, but at some point between the ceremony and reception Lauren tracked them down and brought them to her without anyone asking. She is incredibly supportive and helpful; you will be in excellent hands if you work with her.

I had my wedding weekend at the Thompson Inn early December and it was the easiest and best decision we made. As soon as we toured both the inn and cyderhouse my husband and I knew we found the perfect place. On top of how pretty the venue is, the staff is absolutely wonderful. Lauren and Stephanie were so accommodating and helpful throughout the whole process. They both went above and beyond to ensure we had the best weekend of our lives. Alex made some of the most delicious food we've ever had and our guests keep raving about how much they loved their meals. The chicken & biscuits and short ribs were a huge hit! Having the inn so close to the cyderhouse made the day so much easier for getting ready and having our wedding party all in one place. It was also very nice having breakfast provided each morning to have one less thing to worry about, and of course Alex had amazing food available like maple scones. The venue is great for any season. We already can't wait to go back and visit in the future for the events they hold between hosting weddings. I can't say enough good things about the Thompson Inn and their team, I highly recommend them!

If you are looking for your wedding venue…stop now, you have found it! We truly can’t put into words how wonderful this place is and how thankful we are to have found it for our November 2022 wedding. If we could give 10 stars we would. It is absolutely a hidden gem. The grounds, Cyderhouse and inn are absolutely gorgeous, and the food is spectacular! The best part was having the whole place to ourselves for the entire wedding weekend - you can truly relax and be fully present in the moment, since there is no need to run around like crazy. From the moment we arrived, we were able to settle in and enjoy every second, as the folks at the venue took such great care of us. We received countless compliments from our friends and family about how gorgeous the place was, how delicious the food was, and how it was one of the most fun weddings they’d ever been to, because this venue is just that good! Thanks to Lauren, the day of coordinator to the venue, the day went smoother than we ever could have imagined - she even had us ahead of schedule! We have such amazing memories of our wedding weekend, and much of that can be credited to the Thompson Inn. We will be back!

We had our wedding at the Thompson Inn on 07/02/2022. This weekend was nothing short of magical. Every aspect of our experience with the Thompson Inn was spectacular:The grounds, the food, the staff, the planning meetings, the rooms, everything. We toured the Thompson Inn in the winter while it was covered in snow - it was beautiful even then. When the wedding day came and the flowers were in bloom I knew we couldn't have picked a more beautiful backdrop.I loved that we had the venue to ourselves the entire weekend. From check-in on Friday, to the rehearsal dinner, to getting ready the day of and breakfast the morning after, we never felt like we had to rush out for the next event or cross paths with people that we didn't know. Stephanie and Lori made us feel welcome, part of their family and like we were the only wedding on their mind every meeting and all wedding weekend long.Lauren was our day-of coordinator and she was fantastic. When our wedding day came I didn't have to worry about anything other than enjoying the moment with my family and bridal party.If I could do it all over, I would pick the same venue over and over again.

There are not enough words to express how much we loved this venue! Beyond 5 stars if I could give that! We will be forever grateful for the decision we made to get married here. Having our rehearsal dinner in the cellar was absolutely beautiful. The Inn is also beautifully redone and decorated, and the fact we had the entire place to ourselves and family on our wedding weekend was incredible and truly what made our weekend so special. The entire Thompson Inn staff were wonderful to work with from start to finish. The venue comes with bar and food, which checked a huge box off our to do list, with the added bonus of the Chef Alex being INCREDIBLE. Seriously, like every other review stated! We were lucky to get Lauren Ingle for our day of coordinator and her experience made us feel so at ease! She provided us drinks and snacks throughout the day and made sure we had everything we needed. Stephanie and Lori - thank you both so much for all your help start to finish. There is not a single thing I would have changed about this place, and I could go on and on with how much we loved being there. If you are considering having your wedding here, DO IT! I don’t think I can even come up with the words that would accurately describe how incredible and wonderful the staff at The Thompson Inn were to us. From the start (TWO YEARS AGO) Lori, Stephanie and Chef Alex were an absolute DREAM to work with. They heard all of my requests and always made it happen. Eased my concerns and were always so responsive with questions from me, my MIL and my mother! To say this venue gets a 5 star review would be doing them a disservice. They deserve one MILLION stars!! About 6 months out from the wedding day we were informed that we would be getting a new day of coordinator and it of course made me feel a bit nervous because I had been working with Lori and Stephanie for so long but all of my worries were put to rest because Lori and Stephanie made sure that our new coordinator Lauren knew everything!! And oh my let me tell you.. LAUREN FREAKING INGLE. That woman is so freaking good we COULD NOT have gotten through our day without her!! From painting our McCurry sign white outback the morning of our wedding and putting the tulle on our arbor last second!! She made sure we were fed, we had drinks, brought us water, etc. She was a freaking god sent! The Thompson Inn is SOO lucky to have her. To sum it up book the Thompson Inn you won’t regret it! No one can stop raving about the food by Chef Alex and how stunning the property is :)

We had our wedding 9/10/22 at the Thompson Inn and we couldn't be happier! The Thompson Inn is a personalized wedding experience! Having the venue from Friday - Sunday made the experience for us! It was great to have every aspect of our wedding occur on the property and took away the stress of moving from place to place. The property is meticulous maintained. From the Inn to the reception hall to the grounds and it shows! There is so much care put into the maintenance and up keep of the property. Every visit someone was adding a fresh coat of paint or tending to the florals around the property. The staff is beyond incredible! Lori and Stephanie made us feel so welcome from the start and answered our millions of questions. As we came closer to the wedding, Lauren helped with all the coordination and made sure everything happened exactly as we anticipated. Arielle was an amazing coordinator! She worked so hard and made everything happen seamlessly day of. She really made our vision come to life! We can't thank the team enough!Guests are still raving about the food! Alex is a talented chef! He allowed us to customize our menu to exactly what we were looking for and more! The farm to table style and using produce that is in season was a huge plus for us.We will never forget the incredible weekend we had here at The Thompson Inn. We cannot express how phenomenal our wedding weekend was at The Thompson Inn & Cyderhouse! It was the first and last place we toured, as we knew right away that it was going to be perfect for our wedding weekend. The stunning grounds and beautiful Inn was perfect for our wedding party and families to feel comfortable all weekend long. Having the reception under the 3 large maple trees was beautiful and easy, while the newly renovated Cyderhouse made for the perfect reception- that required little decor as it is just so beautiful on its own. The staff at the Thompson Inn & Cyderhouse were absolutely amazing. Alex is an incredible chef, and we are still craving his food! The hors d’oeuvres and dinner were truly outstanding and it is something our guests continue to rave about. Lori and Stephanie made us feel welcome with every visit and kept in constant communication up until the big day. We can’t thank Lauren, our day of coordinator, enough. She was a rockstar in dealing with last minute changes and keeping everyone on the same page, while making sure we focused on celebrating us on our big day. I cannot say enough nice things about this venue and the team that will make you feel like absolute royalty on your big day. This was the only venue we toured and we KNEW just driving up to the property that it would be magical and perfect for our big day. Then we met Lori & Steve and it was just further solidified. The Thompson team are all the nicest people you will ever meet. The inn is beautiful, especially the suite on the top floor, and the reception area still gives the rustic vibe without the dustiness of an older building. The grounds were beautiful, and I am still hearing glowing compliments back from guests about the food and drinks during our cocktail hour/reception. We were planning our wedding from across the country and had to delay twice due to Covid and the communication with them was constant and easy. Alex is an incredible chef who made everything delicious! We received so many compliments on how everything tasted all thanks to Alex and his team! Even the waitstaff and valets were so wonderful and kind. We got engaged and married during the pandemic so there were a lot of special moments missed and stressors beyond our control. From our first steps on the property, we felt comfortable, special, and expertly attended to. Not only are Lori, Steve, and their staff gracious and accommodating, but we felt so at home through the planning process and especially throughout our wedding weekend. The food is incredible, they have excellent vendor suggestions, and their wedding and day-of coordinators made our whole experience so easy. The space is beautiful on its own and took a lot of the pressure off of us for creating a \"look\" for our big day- the Cyderhouse speaks for itself! From the attentive staff, delicious food, and comfortable and beautiful property, to every detail they attended to so that we could breathe and enjoy each other and our families and friends after a long year, we would choose The Thompson Inn & Cyderhouse over and over.

We could not be happier with our choice to be married at the Thompson Inn & Cyderhouse. From the moment we stepped onto the gorgeous grounds at the tour, we knew this place was special, and meeting Lori, Steve, and Stephanie for the first time sealed the deal! We enjoyed every second of our wedding weekend this past August. It was so special to have the Inn and access to the grounds all weekend. The onsite accommodations at the inn are beautiful and such a special place for close friends and family to stay. The bridal suite is especially beautiful. We had our rehearsal dinner in the Cyderhouse, which Stephanie and Jen helped arrange so that our large party could all fit comfortably. Jen and Stephanie were so helpful leading up to the wedding and throughout the weekend. They handled all the details and made sure the day went smoothly (both rehearsal dinner and wedding day!). We didn't have to worry about anything on our wedding day and were able to relax and enjoy! The food is phenomenal- everything from the wedding day lunches, rehearsal dinner and reception meal, was delicious. Our guests continue to tell us how beautiful our wedding was and how much they enjoyed the venue. The Thompson Inn is a special place and we are forever grateful for the memories we made on our wedding weekend!

I cannot say enough about this place. We had our wedding here this summer and it is absolutely stunning. This historic inn and barn have been renovated to the highest caliber. They didn’t skimp on anything and the styling is just gorgeous. For example: you don’t even need tablecloths for the reception because the tables are gorgeous themselves. They totally put their heart into this place and it shows. Everyone at our wedding was just awed at how beautiful it was. One of the things we loved about being married here was that we got to spend 3 days here with our wedding party. We checked in to our gorgeous rooms, had our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner on site, enjoyed everyone’s company, and got to sleep right there. We all woke up in the same place, had a DELICIOUS breakfast and got ready for the wedding. It was just so special to get tp spend all that time with the people closest to us. The other thing that makes this place amazing is the people who work there. The owners are INCREDIBLE. They’re calm, incredibly hard working, thorough and so sweet and you just know they have everything absolutely covered. Everyone else is the same way, and you can tell they’ve hired people they knew would continue that vibe. The coordinators (Stephanie and Jen), bartenders, waitstaff, chef… everyone was so kind, helpful, friendly and did just such an amazing job. We really felt like they were treating us like family for the weekend and we didn’t want to leave when it was over. I HIGHLY recommend this venue and as soon as you go see it and meet them, you’ll see why.

The breakfast at the Inn for you and your guests is delicious, the rooms are beautiful. Jen and Stephanie over at the Cyderhouse treated this like it was a relative's wedding. Their care and attention to us was so apparent, even our guests were coming up and remarking on it. Jen and Steph were there every step of the way on our very rainy wedding day - giving us options for indoor and outdoor ceremonies. I can't say enough. It was the wedding of our dreams. And a bonus - the food is also fantastic! The venue also is so stunning on its own, you don't need to spend a ton to \"dress it up.\" And you get the whole property for the weekend. We had our rehearsal dinner in the wine cellar and it was a dream.

It’s hard to know where to begin when singing the praises of Lori and the crew at Thompson Inn & Cyderhouse. Truth be told, the Thompson Inn was the very first venue we saw. The moment we stepped out of the car and met Lori, we just knew it was where we’d have our wedding. So, we booked it on the spot!! There’s just such a warm, relaxed, at-home vibe at this venue – it’s hard not to feel like you’re family! We even jokingly started calling Lori and Stephanie our “aunties.” We were definitely drawn to the “stay for the weekend” effect of having both the Inn and the Cyderhouse at our disposal– it was like a rustic destination wedding of sorts! The details of both (Inn and Cyderhouse) are absolutely stunning. Lori and Steve (the owners) did an amazing job renovating the property and keeping the grounds immaculate- all of our guests raved about how lovely the venue was (including Grandma, a tough critic!!!). Lori and Stephanie (site coordinator) were genuinely invested in making this the wedding of our dreams. Even though nearly every weekend was booked for them, whenever we spoke with them, they gave so much of their time to us. They knew every intimate detail of our event, making us feel like we really mattered and that no small detail would be forgotten! They tolerated our (many, many!) questions and requests with such patience and flexibility, even *before* COVID through a wrench in our plans. Like most brides, we were thrown for quite a loop with COVID, and were devastated when we realized that our original wedding vision would need to drastically change if we were to carry on. But Lori and the team did everything in their power to not only to remain flexible, and more importantly, to help us create something just as special and even more intimate than our original plan. Looking back, we couldn’t imagine our wedding any other way – and that was all possible because of Lori and her team. We are so grateful that we get to return in August for Part II – our reception!

When starting out, I was against the idea of a more \"all inclusive\" venue, however, we still had a lot of options and choices to make it our own. Lori and Steve (owners) are amazing, accommodating and extremely adaptive to the changing regulations of Covid-19. Stephanie (site coordinator) & Kamini (day of coordinator for the venue) are great. Everyone communicates extensively and responds promptly. The venue is beautiful anytime of year and offers great indoor and outdoor space. It's a blank canvas that allows you to keep it simple or decorate as much as you want. The food was delicious, especially the hors d'oeuvres (thanks Alex)! The Inn itself is beautifully decorated and offers a great space to spend time with family and friends before and after the wedding. I would recommend The Thompson Inn and Cyderhouse without hesitation!

There aren't enough great words we can say about Lori, Stephanie, and the whole team at The Thompson Inn! We booked in our wedding with them nearly 2 years in advance because we absolutely fell in love with the venue the moment we saw it. Lori was so helpful and communicative throughout the whole planning process and then Stephanie assisted us with all of the details for the reception. Our wedding day was beyond perfect - from the great weather, to the beautiful ceremony under the maple trees, a relaxed cocktail hour along the Cyderhouse deck and lawn, to the breathtaking reception hall. Oh and the food was incredible!!! On top of it all, the staff was SO nice and helpful to us and all of our guests throughout the whole day. We can't count how many compliments we got from our guests saying it was their favorite wedding venue they had ever been to so we were so happy we were able to share this gem with all of our loved ones from near and far. Our wedding was truly the best day ever and we have the team at The Thompson Inn to thank for all of their hard work and for providing their wonderful venue to us. We absolutely recommend The Thompson Inn to all future brides and grooms!

I don’t think The Knot allows enough space to write out all the reasons why I would give the Thompson Inn 5+ stars a thousand times over. From the very beginning, owners Lori and Steve made it a no brainer to choose the Thompson Inn as our wedding location. Not only is it in a gorgeous location, but the scenery is pristine and unique year round. We had a late fall wedding and the maples were at their peak vibrant yellow. If you live New England, then there is no better place to have a wedding. Ancient maples, stone borders, farm house charm, coursing river, rolling fields, it has it all. The staff is responsive and kind and Lori and Steve were supportive through every step of the process. Stephanie is a key member of the team and helped coordinate everything from the very beginning to the very end. She was a rock for me in the final days leading up and on the wedding day. And thank goodness she was there! Stephanie has a calming and organized way that let me trust her and relax to enjoy the wedding. Lori, Steve and Stephanie were simply the best every step of the way. From offering honest advice to helping be sounding boards and inspirational leaders, lending supportive ears, letting me stop by an excessive number of times to feel completely comfortable with all my planning decisions. The inn wasn’t ready yet for 2018, but I am more than confident that it will be the most amazing place to stay on any wedding weekend in 2019 and beyond. Lori and Steve have taken such pride and care in their work in restoring this property that all the time in the world is worth waiting to see their end product. In the mean time, they have done an incredible job accommodating every wish that they can for their clients. We were able to have some amazing photos done on the Inn’s veranda that are some of my favorites from the day. We had some crazy New England weather, heavy rain, a little hail, wicked wind and cold temps... I desperately wanted the ceremony outside under the maples, but it ended up just not being safe or comfortable for the guests and musicians. Lori and Stephanie came up with THREE unique contingency plans for me depending on what the weather did, and ran around to rearrange everything so that I wouldn’t have to stress and the guests wouldn’t know that we were contending with the weather. We ended up having the ceremony indoors and to my surprise, it was perfect. I had such trust in them and wanted to enjoy my day, so I gave Stephanie permission to make the final call and go with whatever option felt right, it was a total surprise to me as we were doing our first look while she was having the ceremony area set up, and it was the right decision. Everyone was comfortable, happy and the photos were beautiful. It was seamless and stunning. We had the perfect wedding and I honestly have Lori, Stephanie and Steve and their staff at the Thompson Inn to thank for making sure everything went exactly as I had imagined and hoped. If I had the opportunity to do it all again, I would choose the Thompson Inn every time. Thank you Thompson Inn! You made my dream wedding reality!

The Thompson Inn and Cyderhouse was a wonderful location for our wedding in early November. The natural beauty of the area and the timeless design of the facilities allowed us to have a beautiful day with minimal decor. The beauty of the space is apparent when you see photos but especially when you step into the space in person. We had our rehearsal dinner, photographs, ceremony, reception, and dance all on-site. We also did a \"first look\" on the porch of the Inn and it was the perfect, private setting for us!The venue has so much to offer from their on-site services and resources. It was wonderful to work with them for our catering, bar service, tables, chairs, and even napkins and candles. They offered us great options and were happy to work with us when we wanted to add personal touches like cheese curds from Wisconsin, particular beers, and a signature cocktail. It was a pleasure to work with Lori, Steve, and Stephanie to make our event come to life. From the first time we met them, we could feel that they were invested in our wedding day. This was especially visible when they were on-site the day of rehearsal and wedding to ensure every detail was nailed. Plus, along the way, they were super communicative and invited us to come visit as often as we wanted while we were planning. We've received countless compliments from our guests on the beauty of the venue and the exceptional service provided by Lori, Stephanie, Steve, and their staff.We are so grateful that The Thompson Inn and Cyderhouse was the home for our wedding and we would highly recommend it to others searching for their venue.

I cannot express how truly amazing our wedding was at the Thompson Inn and Cyderhouse. Lori, Stephanie, and the entire team were there every step of the way to make our day possible. I can’t speak highly enough of Lori and Stephanie. They are there to make sure it all goes smoothly, and that the day is exactly what we dreamed it would be. The Thompson Inn Cyderhouse was the perfect backdrop that we envisioned. The venue is picture perfect. The scenery, including the gorgeous trees and river, as well as the Inn and Cyderhouse are all breathtaking. We booked the venue before it was completed, and can’t speak enough to how truly beautiful it is. The trees encompassed the perfect place to say “I Do”. The porch provided the perfect place for cocktail hour, and the heaters made it perfect place on the chilly October day. The cyderhouse was the perfect spot to be introduced as husband and wife, eat and dance the night away. From the bridal suite to the wine cellar, the venue was the perfect place to have our wedding. Lori and her team were professional and talented. They are truly knowledgeable of how to plan and operate the perfect wedding day. Their coordination and execution made the day possible. They made our day feel so personal, yet used what had worked in the past to make the day absolutely perfect. Throughout the planning process they checked in and really did all they could to make our wedding day the best day. They were always there to answer questions and support us every step of the way. Thank you to all at the Thompson Inn and Cyderhouse for making our wedding dreams a reality! It was truly the best day, and would not have been possible without the team at Thompson Inn and the beautiful wedding venue they have created.

PERFECT. The Thompson Inn & team made sure we truly had our dream wedding. We started speaking with Lori & Steve back in January of 2016 when the Inn & Cyderhouse were still under construction. Even in that state, we fell in love. We trusted the venue would come together by our wedding in June of 2018. The Inn wasn't ready by our wedding date, but we CANNOT wait to see the finished product and come back to visit. It's going to be just another amazing detail to this already over-the-top venue. Did I mention there is the most beautiful wine cellar in the basement!? We used it to do a small \"wine tasting\" during our reception and served wines down there that weren't being served upstairs. It was more than we imagined. I won't say how many emails and requests we had, but Lori answered every. single. one of them. She was with us every step of the way. The food - amazing. The staff was so attentive. We had a server dedicated to us and our wedding party to make sure we had plenty to eat & drink during the cocktail hour while we were taking pictures. Our glasses and plates were full when we sat down at our sweetheart table. Their site coordinator, Stephanie - no words can do her justice! She was on top of EVERYTHING. The venue looked gorgeous and everything went off without a hitch.

I particularly recommend the baked stuffed shrimp and the bacon wrapped scallops! The grounds are incredibly beautiful and the people are good souls. If you have the chance to have your wedding here, do it, and don’t think twice. We are sure happy with our choice and can’t imagine picking anywhere else for our wedding.

Brides Beware! I attended a wedding at the Thompson Inn and Cider House in Durham, New Hampshire this past Saturday, September 9, 2017. I am still in a state of disbelief with how the bride and groom were failed by this venue on ALL levels. I have attended numerous weddings, and it is safe to assume that no wedding is perfect, however, I have never witnessed an event quite like this. The venue failed to provide the reception building on time as promised (the bride and groom were notified on the eve on their big day) and the venue’s alternate accommodations (to save face) were poorly planned and I use the word “planned” lightly. Reception tent was not prepared for New England weather; insufficient amount of umbrellas and rain gear provided for guests when herding them to cocktail hour and porta potty facilities clear across the property; stationary cocktail hour hors d'oeuvre were compromised from the rain as no coverage was provided; inadequate dinner serving area with no above lighting, including no heating element over carving station for the prime rib – I could go on and on. What I find more frustrating, the owner let her staff take the brunt of frustration from guests. Shame on you for not supporting your staff and shame on you for failing a little girl’s dream.Wedding: 09/09/2017

I had the pleasure of my daughter's wedding at The Thompson Inn on 08/06/16. The ceremony was held under a canopy of maple trees, cocktails & hors d'oeuvres were served on the charming veranda which extends around the inn and the reception/dancing were held on the extensive lawn. The property is tastefully landscaped with hydrangeas, peonies and lilacs, along with overflowing flower boxes adorning the windows. The grounds are enchanting with many possibilities to plan a wedding event. So many of the guests commented on the attractiveness of the venue.The owners, the Lambs , were wonderful ! They went above and beyond to ensure that my daughter's day would be just as she visualized it. Lori Lamb's attention to detail was as though it was her own daughter's wedding. I would gladly have our next wedding at The Thompson Inn!Irene B.
