The Townsend Hotel is a wedding and event venue located in Birmingham, MI, less than 30 minutes from Downtown Detroit. First opened in 1988, this hotel has hosted various events over the years. Their largest option is the Townsend Ballroom, which can host banquets with up to 400 guests. Elegant chandeliers and large windows decorate the space for a bright, welcoming atmosphere. Just outside the main doors is a grand foyer with marble floors and cherry wood paneling that will give your cocktail hour a sophisticated aesthetic. For more intimate celebrations, The Clancy Room sports a timeless design theme with art-deco-inspired styling. The versatile floor plan can accommodate various events, from engagement parties to day-after brunches. In addition, the hotel has 150 guest rooms, with cozy bedding and modern amenities to ensure a relaxing overnight stay. The team's wedding specialist will be by your side during your planning process to ensure everything goes according to plan. The reception was perfect. Lizz was great and worked with us from the planning stage to the day off. The food was fantastic, as was the cake. And the complimentary suit was amazing. It is great to be the only wedding at the venue (day of). It is a classic, timeless venue. Our guests that stayed at the hotel also had fantastic stays. We had the brunch the next day at the venue which was fantastic. Would highly recommend this venue to anyone in the metro Detroit area, especially if you want a hotel.

I was really excited to check out this venue as I had always wanted my wedding reception to be held at the Townsend Hotel. The woman we met with was not very friendly and gave off the “you can’t afford to have your wedding here” attitude which was extremely unprofessional. Additionally, she had no other information to give us besides the menu print off you can find on their website, and then proceeds to tell us that their menu is changing next year but with no further info to give us regarding the changes or price increases. She told us she’d be sending us an email the following morning with more information that we had requested, but it has now been over 4 weeks and we never heard back from her. Overall, I was extremely disappointed in the service we received and the lack of information we were given during our appointment.

It was the best decision I made to have Townsend hotel host my wedding and reception ceremony. From the moment we started, it was outstanding treatment and service by Merritt Rosenthal! She made this whole process for us incredibly smooth and easy. She was very respectful and kind which I found rare in this wedding process. I truly applaud Townsend on their customer service during our wedding and reception. It was beyond exceptional! Of all the vendors we worked with throughout the wedding process, Merritt’s work, work ethic, and her compassion stood out from any one else we dealt with. She made the whole process so seamless and was genuinely nice. She took every detail so seriously and was on top of everything months in advance! I would recommend doing any event at Townsend because they really take the time and go the extra mile to make things exactly how you envisioned! Merritt, I cannot thank you enough and Thank you Townsend Hotel!
