Angela McIntee(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-03-2023 Our wedding took place on March 4th. A major selling point for us is the spectacular views. Given that I have several restaurant owners in my family, the quality of the meals was also a concern. We expressed this when we visited and were assured immediately that the chef would work with us to meet our expectations. I can honestly say that they more than exceeded our expectations. Our guests told us this was the best “wedding food” they’d ever had. Claire, Janissa, and the rest of the staff were nothing short of amazing. They were attentive, had great ideas to help us execute our vision, and were just an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the process. I cannot say enough about how amazing they were in making wedding plan easy! The University Club is simply the best! Reviewed on 01-04-2023
Delanie H(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 19-03-2022 Cheryl was wonderful to work with and did her best to find discounts where she could to make the venue work for us.It was still out of our budget, unfortunately, so we did not book there, but we really appreciated her efforts and flexibility! David Vaughn(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 30-06-2018 The venue was absolutely gorgeous, the staff was stellar, and Kristi was big help planning our wedding. It was nice because the view was so stunning that we didn’t need a lot of decorations. The food was also great and the drink packages were ideal for our open bar. We would highly recommend the University Club if you’re looking for a metropolitan and glamorous feel to your wedding (we did an Art Deco theme). Day or night, this venue is beautiful. Meg Neary(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-02-2015 The University Club was the perfect place for our wedding and it ended up being everything we thought and hoped it would be! My now husband and I wanted our wedding to be a non-traditional, elegant, classy, and timeless party for our friends and family. \r\rWe wanted everyone to have a reason to \"dress to the nines\" on a Saturday night. When I say non-traditional, I mean we did not want a sit down dinner, we did not want assigned seating and we wanted to the ceremony to be very quick and to the point. The University Club was able to accommodate all of our wishes. \r\rWe worked with Ed and he was absolutely the BEST! He knows what he's doing and he was so easy to talk with. Our wedding was on a Saturday. We ended up hosting a cocktail hour at the bar from 4-5pm because the bar isn't open to members until 5pm. Therefore, we had the bar to ourselves for that our. Then we had the ceremony and reception in the main ballroom. The view from the whole venue is ridiculously amazing & most of our guests had never been to the Club. Our guest list was approximately 135 and we had the room set up for sitting and standing during the ceremony. The room was full, yet there was plenty of room for people to move around and be comfortable. \r\rInstead of having a sit-down dinner, we had hors d'oeuvres trays passed around, as well as two different stations and a variety of hor d'oevres near the stations. There was plenty of food and it was all amazing! We left the stations open for a bit, as well as the hor d'oevres, because we wanted our guests to be able to eat/snack through out the night. Another perk to the Club is that all of the food is freshly prepared & made on sight, which is one less to thing to worry about possibly going wrong. \r\rThe bar set up was perfect! There was no long, annoying line to get a drink, which was huge because all of our guests were pretty heavy drinkers. We didn't want our guests spending their night trying to get a drink. \r\rThe whole night went as planned, surprisingly : ) I know it went as planned, because Ed and the Club as a whole are total pros. I can't say enough good things about this venue. \r\rIf you're looking for an indoor, classy venue with an amazing view of all of San Diego, this is your place! Trust me, especially for your out-of-town guests, they'll be impressed with the University Club!\r\r Reviewed on 14-03-2015
Janal Sullivan(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-01-2013 I don't have a membership here, but I did have my wedding reception at the University Club back in January (they allow a certain number of non-member events per year). We had about 140 guests. The info packet says they can accommodate 175 guests for a sit-down meal, but I wouldn't recommend more than 150 otherwise it may start to feel very packed.\r\rEd is in charge of organizing events and was a true pleasure to work with. From my many questions during the planning process, our meetings, accommodating our special requests, providing input, he was always patient, friendly, and helpful.\r\rAJ and his staff took over after Ed made sure everything was set up the day of. They made sure our head table was always taken care of and were super attentive! Our entire bridal table was treated like VIP.\r\rWe couldn't have asked for a better wedding venue! Our guests raved about the breathtaking views and delicious meal. Reviewed on 03-05-2013
