This was the perfect, unique venue for our winter wedding. Everyone we interacted with was very professional and so helpful. We had a great experience planning and celebrating. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because it was somewhat limiting to have to work with Mintahoe, the catering company. The food was not very good. I wouldn't recommend this venue if food is really important to you for your wedding. However, this was the only complaint we had about the whole experience. Overall, it was wonderful, and the day went so smoothly thanks to the staff.

Fall 2023 bride here! I recently had my wedding at this gorgeous venue and I could not have been more pleased with my experience. From the moment I walked in, I was blown away by the incredible staff with their constant care, and attention to detail. This dream team was *chefs kiss* with how helpful and accommodating they were the entire night; ensuring that every aspect of our special day went smoothly, and they were so kind from beginning to end. The ceremony and reception spaces are something straight out of a fairytale with its beautiful vines draped down its charming walls, and it's dreamy cottage core aesthetic throughout the entire mansion. It was truly a perfect fit for my husband and I and the wonderful staff made us feel welcomed that we didn't have to worry about a thing the entire night. Overall, I would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a beautiful and memorable location for their special day. Thank you to the entire staff for making our wedding day truly unforgettable. You are all freaking amazing and we're forever grateful to you for making our dream come true. ♥️

The Van Dusen mansion is beautiful! We especially like that they've maintained the historical aspects of the mansion- we got so many compliments on the venue! We also had a great experience with the staff, especially as a couple planning their wedding from out of state. They made things easy and provided all the support that we needed. Monica was so vital to our day running smoothly- not a single thing went wrong (at least that we were aware of) which shows how great the staff is! Our day was entirely stress-free. Another important note is that the venue was queer-friendly! We never felt othered by being a queer couple, the staff respected our pronouns, and were overall great! Their initial forms had \"Husband\" and \"Wife\" but after we met with them, they changed everything to either gender-neutral terms, \"wives\

VDM was excellent and Monica was such a great contact for the year-plus we were planning along with the day-of. This venue stunned our ~115 guests (and our dog) from beginning to end. Luckily, the weather cooperated for our 10/21 wedding so we had the ceremony in the courtyard, allowing for a slow but procession through the grounds as the night progressed. Anything over our guest count would’ve been tight for the ceremony space AND dining hall, so keep that in mind. We chose to add two hours in the morning for $200/hour, very much worth it and the perfect amount of time for a 10-person wedding party (plus parents) to get ready and take pictures before a 4PM ceremony. Otherwise your standard event time is 12PM-12AM. I’m still in shock from how gorgeous every space looked. The carriage house was recently renovated and new flooring was cute and thankfully not slippery with spilled drinks towards the end of the night. Of note: clarify everything you can think of with your venue contact ahead of time. There are no stupid questions. We saved a lot of trouble by asking a lot of questions and Monica was so responsive and helpful, even if the answer was no. Also: they might recommend a Bellagala DJ but our DJ (DJ Hampsterdance) had no trouble with their sound system. There is a ~$500 fee for outside DJ because they also staff an in-house AV technician to guide in case your DJ is unfamiliar with the venue or needing help. Additionally: They exclusively partner with Mintahoe for catering. If you want a different catering vendor or are dead-set on bringing your own booze to “get ready with” and hate the idea of paying corkage for that (or paying per-person fees for outside cake and/or late-night snack), this might not be the venue for you. We had a fine experience with Mintahoe.

The Van Dusen Mansion was the perfect venue for our small wedding. We only had about 70-75 people, which felt perfect here. The mansion is absolutely gorgeous as well. The staff was excellent to work with - on top of everything, coordinated, and friendly. I didn't have to worry about a thing. We also lucked out with a perfect weather day so we could have our ceremony in the courtyard. Highly recommend!

THE BEST. If you have your wedding here, your guests will have such a unique experience. With the ceremony in the gorgeous outdoor courtyard, cocktail hour inside the historic mansion itself, dinner in the glittering ballroom, and dance in the 2-story carriage house, the venue offers the ultimate combo of convenience and variety. Our wedding felt like an absolute fairytale, like we were getting married at a castle. Monica, our coordinator, was absolutely fantastic to work with and answered all my questions throughout planning. And you don’t have to spend a ton on decor because the venue itself is so beautiful already, and gorgeous gold decor and table settings are included in the essentials package. I can’t recommend this venue enough. Our guests were absolutely raving about how unique and enjoyable the whole wedding day was. We loved loved loved our experience!

The Van Dusen Mansion is an exceptional venue! We had our wedding reception here in late August 2023 and couldn’t be more pleased with the experience the venue itself creates but is elevated even more by the extraordinary staff! I have never seen such a beautiful, well maintained historic home before and yet it is so much for than that. The Van Dusen became our home for a day while we got ready for our wedding ceremony and enjoyed exploring and Lou going in the multitude of rooms inside the Mansion. Meanwhile, the staff at the Van Dusen and Mintahoe Catering staffs were busy at work, quietly and efficiently, preparing for the festivities that evening. Our guests LOVED the venue and the food and drink! I did not have a single bad experience throughout the planning process. Both the Van Dusen team and the Mintahoe Catering staff were responsive, helpful, super friendly, genuine people that you can tell enjoy their work and care about you. I had full confidence that our wedding day would come together as we had envisioned and planned, the staff knows what they are doing and want to make your day even better than you imagined. We are SO happy we choice the Van Dusen for our wedding reception!

This is the coolest venue, hands down. The best part- you don’t have to do a thing. The team at the Van Dusen made our wedding a breeze and only left the fun parts of planning to us. The day of our wedding went so smoothly and we owe that to the team. Our guests loved how warm, cozy and beautiful the venue was, even on a cold Minnesota night. The different buildings for different events kept it interesting- but our guests never hd to travel or leave. This is way better than one big event space. The intricacies of the mansion, ballroom, and carriage house really wowed our guests. Best night ever!

Right from the start Monica was very communicative and made the whole wedding planning process so easy and painless. On the day of Monica and her team were SO helpful, I was able to just relax and enjoy every moment during our wedding. The Van Dusen is the most stunning wedding venue!! My husband and I planned our wedding at the Van Dusen long-distance and were completely blown away when we got to see it for the first time during wedding week - it exceeded all expectations! Our guests haven't stopped talking about how it was one of the most beautiful weddings they've ever been to. We absolutely loved that it offered so many different spaces throughout the evening - it made it feel more magical that we got to progress through the venue as the night went on. On top of that, the staff is just incredible. Super easy to work with and there to make your wedding dreams come true. We couldn't be more happy with our experience and would recommend it to everyone!

We thought selecting a venue would be a big challenge for us, because I didn't want something too industrial or rustic, and my husband didn't want something too minimalist or all white. As soon as we found the Van Dusen, we knew it was the perfect combination of both of our styles. The venue was a dream, we had plenty of space to get ready in, and our guests loved exploring during our cocktail hour.

The Van Dusen is a 10/10! We had our wedding there this August of 2022. Monica and Carrie were very helpful in keeping us planned ahead of time, very organized, and incredibly helpful. They always got back to us quickly, were fun to plan with, and genuinely love what they do. They have lots of experience and are knowledgeable on how to run an event. A huge thank you to both of them for their insights, help, and for making it such an incredible day for us!The venue was stunning. Our guests absolutely loved the ceremony in the courtyard. Our pictures were stunning because the venue is so gorgeous. Our guests loved the different areas you get to celebrate - the courtyard, the mansion for cocktail hour, the ballroom room for dinner, courtyard for dessert, and the carriage house for dancing. The staff the day of had everything running smoothly. We loved it so much, we couldn't be happier with the Van Dusen.

I wish we could review Van Dusen five stars because we absolutely loved working with their event coordinators and the space was everything we could've dreamed! However, they have an exclusive catering contract with Mintahoe Catering, and stood idly by when we were being taken advantage of by their sales team. Prices, policies, and fee structures were completely changed with no supporting language in the contract we signed or any of the supporting documents. At one point things got so tense that Van Dusen's COO had to get involved, and she agreed with us that several of the fees we were being charged were strange and unsubstantiated in our contracting language. She joined a Zoom meeting between us and the catering sales team, but ultimately left it entirely to us to negotiate our way into a fair catering plan. We had to get the city of Minneapolis involved to find resolution by confirming Mintahoe was misrepresenting permitting requirements. When we finally did, Van Dusen's COO told us to sign a non-disclosure agreement to keep us from discussing our treatment which really added insult to injury. Luckily we knew we had no legal obligation to sign. We cannot recommend Van Dusen as a venue because they do not protect clients from predatory practices of vendors they require for services.

The Van Dusen Mansion is a truly beautiful venue, with very professional and well-organized staff. They were very responsive, quickly answering all of our questions during the planning process, and helping us make sure all necessary logistics were figured out well before the day of the wedding. It is also great that the venue includes beautiful decor pieces that we could use during our reception, and with the unique nature of the mansion itself, we did not have to worry much at all about adding to the space because it already feels like a romantic and welcoming wedding setting.

We loved our wedding at The Van Dusen Mansion (VDM)! We venue shopped in three different states: California, North Carolina, and Minnesota. The Van Dusen Mansion stood out from the very start. We loved the charm, look, staff, and arrangement of the site. We didn't have great timing as we had to push twice due to COVID. The VDM Staff was very accommodating and understanding. It was relatively easy to move dates. VDM Staff made themselves very available during the entire planning process but especially closer to the big day. And day-of, everything was effortless! It was such a fun event and everyone loved the location/venue. One thing that wasn't great- there was a (seemingly) homeless man that shouted really loudly nearby during our ceremony, which was non-ideal. Our officiant reacted well but we didn't love that bit. All in all, it was a great event and we loved it!

Absolutely phenomenal! Seriously. To start with, the planning was phenomenal. They were excellent at walking me through everything and asking all of the important questions. Emails were answered incredibly promptly and were incredibly helpful. I scheduled a meeting a couple weeks before the wedding just to make sure everything was good to go and they were so helpful and were clearly knowledgeable and able to answer all of my questions easily.On the actual wedding day, wow. Just wow. Everything was so smooth, I literally had nothing to worry about. Everything was on time, if we needed anything it was easy to get ahold of people and figure things out, it all ran so smoothly! There were a couple times where we were wondering if had needed to take care of something (like setting up our candy table or taking down the gift card box after the ceremony) but the Van Dusen team had already taken care of it. At the end of the night when everyone was gathering their things we found that everything had already been taken down and was boxed up AND they helped load up the car. I can't even believe how smooth and efficient everything was.And on top of that, you could not find a place more gorgeous! It was just as beautiful as I had imagined and a lot of our guests commented on how beautiful everything was, how they loved the transitions to different areas as we moved through the night, and how well everything was put together. I cannot say enough praise for this venue and for the people working there. Absolutely loved everything, 1000% would recommend to anyone looking for a venue for anything!

Our guests loved the mansion as much as we do, and we received numerous compliments on how perfect and beautiful the wedding was. The entire staff went above and beyond to make everything about our day worry free, fun, organized, and so so beautiful! We could not have asked for anything more! Our day was perfect! Guests not only raved about the beauty of the venue, but the amazing caterers and delicious food, the venue coordinators, and the vendors who all made everything come together, and David and I couldn't agree more! Not only was the entire staff professional but genuinely kind as well. We were in good company all around! We are so happy we chose Bavaria for our wedding venue, D'Amico for our catering and Bellagala for our vendors!Thank you for everything throughout the entire planning process as well! I don't think I'll ever stop talking about how wonderful my wedding day at the Van Dusen was. Planning with Monica was so fun and easy. Planning with Bellagala (DJ, Floral, Photo booth) was so easy and stress free, and planning and communication with Mintahoe catering was just the best. All the staff were so detail oriented and stress-free the day of, exactly what you need as a bride. My guests won't stop talking about how good the food was and how the venue you makes you feel like you're in a dream or a movie because it is so beautiful. I would give 10 stars if possible!!

From our first interaction with the staff at Van Dusen, we had nothing but a wonderful experience. Our sales consultant took her time on the virtual tour, which is what was offered at the time because of COVID, and answered any and every question we had. We ended up booking the site based on the virtual tour alone, along with feedback from some friends and acquaintances who had been married or attended weddings at the venue. We were really drawn to the grandeur of the venue, the progressive flow it offered, and felt like it fit the elegant and formal vibe we wanted. All of the staff we interacted with throughout the planning process were courteous, helpful, and responsive. We appreciated all of the inclusions that came with our booking -- things like tables, chairs, and linens, as well as escort card boards, a cake stand, and optional table decor (votives, candelabras, old books). I had 7 bridesmaids and we had ample space to get ready upstairs at the venue. The event staff were clear and communicative, ensuring that we understood everything from our catering order to timelines for everything. And they worked hard to meet our expectations and understand how to execute our vision for the day. We loved our day at the Van Dusen and would definitely recommend it as a venue!

The venue was gorgeous and the staff and service was excellent. The day of our wedding was absolutely flawless and everything went so smoothly, we didn’t have to worry about a thing. Our DJ was exposed to Covid-19 last minute and they handled everything for us and were able to find a replacement the day of our wedding and he was awesome! We were able to spend our day focused on each other and our guests, exactly how it should be. The Van Dusen staff made wedding planning easy. The venue is beautiful and so much fun for guests but the real love for us was the care the staff showed us from the tour through the wedding day and beyond. They worked with us on centerpieces and timelines before the wedding day. Bonnie, the day of coordinator was amazing and made sure all vendors knew the plan and executed it. She worked with us to make sure we made a good decision about where to hold our ceremony (rain was in the forecast). They did a BEAUTIFUL job setting everything up and making it wonderful inside the ballroom. Bonnie was absolutely amazing and so helpful with everything throughout the day. The greeters could have done a much better job telling people where to put cards and presents (we had people handing us presents directly and cards as the night went on which was a bit cumbersome). But overall it was a wonderful day to remember and I am really thankful for Bonnie and her team who made me feel stress free on the wedding day and really made sure all the guests had a great time! The only downside to the Van Dusen is the requirement of MinTahoe catering. They were okay but their pricing was more than the quality of their work. That being said, I still think we make the best choice with the Van Dusen.

The whole team at Van Dusen clearly works really hard to make each wedding special, and played such a huge role in making our wedding day better than we could have imagined! We had Bonnie as our planner and day of coordinator and she was professional, kind and thought of things we never would have ahead of time to help us be so prepared the day of. Our wedding was an absolute dream and everything was perfect! Thank you so much to everyone at the Van Dusen for all of your help with everything. Our wedding day was better than we could have hoped for!

Casey and I want to thank the staff at the Van Dusen for all their hard work to pull of the best wedding reception ever! You all were so easy to work with and everything went so smoothly! Bonnie, you and your staff were so great day of, my sister was raving about how easy it was to coordinate with you all before the event. Carrie, we couldn’t hear enough about how great the food was! Everyone loved their entrees and the appetizers! I gave my piece of cake to my niece who I believe may have had 3 or 4 slices!! Again, wouldn’t recommend them more, it was the easiest planning process and it went so smoothly!

The venue is GORGEOUS and our guests loved it! It was wonderful to have everything in one place and they were fantastic at communicating so on the actual wedding day I had to do practically nothing. They took care of everything and it all went so smoothly. You do need to use the in house caterer Mintahoe catering but they were pretty good. The only issue was some of the servers didn’t know what they were serving during cocktail hour so they were telling our guests that the wasabi on top of the tuna cracker app was guacamole 😬 but other than that the venue needed practically no decorations, it’s already so gorgeous. There was plenty of space for us to spread out but it still felt nice and intimate. Our courtyard ceremony was perfect, the cocktail hour in the mansion was great, the ballroom for dinner was like a picture from a magazine, and the dancing in the carriage house was fantastic! We only had about 65 people at our wedding out of the 100 we invited but it didn’t feel empty. We seemed to fill the space perfectly. There are lots of little nooks and hidden gems for pictures that are super pretty and if you time things right in the spring there are some flowering trees! Truly a gorgeous venue that we highly recommend!

The staff were all incredibly professional and friendly, and they were very willing to accommodate any concerns we had in order to assure that our day went smoothly. The Mintahoe catering that is attached to their venue is professional and provides a variety of flexible and delicious options, and are very willing to adjust things based on your needs. We would highly recommend them for future events.

This venue was absolutely amazing from start to finish. They were able to provide us with a beautiful day despite getting married during a pandemic. We had some unfortunate last minute changes and the entire staff helped take the stress off and adjust with ease. The venue itself is also perfect for a wedding. This inside and outside provided us with our dream wedding. I will definitely recommend the Van Dusen to any friends that are getting married, and if I planned on getting married again I would 100% re-book here.

The Van Dusen is a venue you HAVE to at least consider. The entire venue is utterly gorgeous, and Bonnie (wedding planner) was amazing and very responsive after taking over the last wedding planner, Katie, who went on maternity leave a few weeks before our wedding. They made our wedding day so much easier with handling the programs, placement cards I forgot to fold, etc. The Van Dusen, Mintahoe Catering, and all the staff from both sides were extraordinary, and incredibly attentive.

The planning experience was great. Tyler was our event captain and we were very pleased with his service and care for our event. All the staff was very helpful throughout the day and helped us transition from room to room, keeping the night running smoothly.Honestly, we had a great experience with everything. This is definitely the best wedding spot in Minneapolis. The Van Dusen Mansion is a stunning place to have a wedding, and their process is unlike any other venue. Being able to progress through the grounds was a huge hit with our guests, and everything was immaculate. I’m so excited to get our pictures back! Christy was a lifesaver and walked us through everything we needed to know all day and really kept things running smoothly when we ran into some obstacles.The bridal suite was beautiful and spacious enough for my four bridesmaids, the moms, and all of our supplies. The groom’s lounge was a great place for the guys to relax before the venue and for the guests to explore during cocktail hour. The carriage house was the perfect dance floor size and having two levels, one for dancing and one for drinking/lounging/watching, was a great setup. Outside of the rooms that guests saw, there were even more rooms perfectly set up for gorgeous pictures of us and our bridal party. Van Dusen really has it all: it’s a beautiful venue and its staff is very good at what they do. Booking the Van Dusen Mansion will save you a ton of stress and will leave your guests in awe.

Our tour guide at our initial visit, Hannah Quiggle, was extremely engaging and helpful. We were in awe at the beauty of the mansion and the exceptional organization of the staff. After visiting other venues, we knew nothing could compete with the Van Dusen. Although the Van Dusen would normally be outside our price range, the lower winter rates and the Winter Promo made the price fall within our range, which confirmed our decision to book the Van Dusen as our wedding venue.The Van Dusen was very helpful in responding to my many emails and questions (in particular, Christy Turman was very helpful). I was pretty clueless about planning a wedding and also very strapped for time, so their expertise and communication was invaluable to me as a bride.On the day of the wedding, the event flow was wonderful. I never had to worry about telling people where to go or what to do. The Van Dusen staff took care of all of that, and we were able to enjoy the day. The mansion was gorgeous, and everyone really enjoyed being able to spend time in it and the other buildings.Van Dusen was an absolutely amazing venue for our wedding. My family, husand, and I were thrilled with how the event went, and were very impressed with both the facilities and the staff. “It was one surprise after another!” Remarked one of our wedding guests, and it was so completely true! The unique layout and process of a wedding at the Van Dusen is something guests cannot imagine. On the grand entry staircase, sat our wonderful trumpet player, Jeff Carver, performing classics from Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Herb Alpert, Etta James and more! Some grabbed a cocktail and sat and listened, others walked through the mansion for a timeless tour, enjoying delicious appetizers and full-service bars located on each floor of the mansion. From there, they were invited into the beautiful ballroom for dinner. Stunning! The acoustics were perfect to continue the live music while enjoying a splendid dinner complete with wine service and an awesome waitstaff! Finally, we were guided into the carriage house where we walked right onto the dance floor! Guests immediately were caught up in the music and danced all night. The upstairs lounge with elevator, was perfect for our elderly guests who wanted to just watch the dancing below and relax with coffee and dessert. Other guests enjoyed the comfortable lounge seating for socializing and a beautiful lit courtyard to step out and grab some fresh air. A special thank you to Denise for her daytime coordination and set-up of the ballroom...just beautiful! To Tyler, our event captain who was spot on with communication and coordination. To Christy, who helped us get organized the week of the event and before! Spectacular, memorable event and wedding venue!

Before raving about the venue itself (gorgeous!), I want to make sure I say that Christy was a dream to work with. She was professional, kind, enthusiastic, and ready to make everything work somehow. She made planning from far out-of-state a breeze. The venue speaks for itself from the photos above. It is a beautiful historic mansion - exactly what we were looking for. The guests loved being able to explore its many rooms - as did I and my bridesmaids in the early morning as we were getting ready and enjoying the bridal suite - memories I will always cherish. We ended up moving the ceremony indoors due to rain (good wedding luck?!), but the day-of sudden change went off without a hitch and all of the vendors were aligned and on point. The guests and my family also enjoyed how the carriage house for the dance had two floors, one for socializing and one for grooving and moving. Those who wanted to dance could, and those who wanted to socialize had space to do so but could watch the dancing antics from above. So fun!Thank you, Van Dusen team, for all of your help in making our day wonderful!

The Van Dusen was the first place we looked and we fell in love. The venue is gorgeous, the staff was so kind from the very beginning and we knew right away it would be our choice. Mary Jo and the Mintahoe team were excellent. The tasting was informative and a great way to talk to other couples and share ideas. The details meeting with Mary Jo was extremely helpful and we felt very ready to go after that meeting. The whole team was great and answered all our questions right away. The day of could not have gone any smoother because of this fantastic team. Responses to emails were very quick and planning was a breeze with this venue and staff. Mary Jo and Christy were amazing and guiding us through the process and making everything easy. All was fantastic. We have no complaints! Everyone was great, the staff was friendly and helpful to all guests and the bride and groom. The day ran so smooth with no hiccups. We honestly could not think of anything that went wrong or we wish we had. Our experience was great and we thank the whole Van Dusen and Bellagala staff for that! Thank you thank you thank you! Van Dusen Mansion is such a unique and beautiful place to have your wedding! You can have your entire day there - get ready upstairs in the bridal suites (grooms downstairs in the lounge). Ceremony in the courtyard, Cocktail hour in the mansion, dinner in the ballroom and dancing in the carriage house. We were even able to use the courtyard as an outdoor area during the reception and had some lawn games set up out there and tables for people to socialize at. It was the absolute perfect setting to what felt like a perfect day. We just happened to find this venue after looking at 3 other venues were weren't quite happy with and I'm so glad we picked it. If you want a place that is very special and that your guests will be talking about well after your wedding, this is the place to be.

This is a truly breathtaking venue. It was the first place my husband and I toured and I was in love immediately. Be aware that you must use their contracted catering company, Mintahoe Catering & Events. While I enjoyed working with Mintahoe, it is something to be aware of BEFORE you fall in love with the venue. Overall, I was very pleased with The Van Dusen venue and its staff. Everything went off, from what I could tell, without a hitch. If there were any crisises that went on, I was blissfully unaware of it.

There are no words to describe how perfect the mansion was. Everything from the suites to get ready in to the progression of the evening to different areas was perfect and better than we could have expected. We stepped foot in the mansion for the first time and knew right away that we wanted to get married there - it was exactly what we were looking for and blew the other venues we had looked at out of the water. During the planning process, all emails were responded to promptly and they were very patient with my requests for tours for family and our photographer. Christy was super helpful on the day of! Our experience started with Teddi giving us a tour. She was so kind! Before we toured she sat down with me and asked me what I wanted in a wedding. She wanted to help me to bring my vision to life! She was so helpful and helped my fiancé and I with all our questions.After booking our wedding. We met with Jenna and she helped with all our preplanning questions. She helped us be recommending photographers, dj, wedding dress shops, bridal makeup and so much more! These recommendations were so helpful and made planning super easy. The mansion staff was the most amazing staff that we have ever worked with. On the day of my wedding they took care of everything! They made me feel so special. Hannah was my day of coordinator. She was so kind and made the day go so smoothly. It was honestly the wedding of my dreams. Every single person in the mansion staff was so amazing! All of my guests were talking about how kind everyone was!What sets the mansion apart from other venues is that they authentically care. I could feel that from day 1. We got so many compliments on our venue the day of the wedding, and I completely understand why. The mansion is elegant and charming and our guests were simply entertained walking around and exploring during our cocktail hour. Getting ready in the bridal suite was such a treat and the ballroom was gorgeous for both our ceremony and dinner. But my favorite part of the whole venue was the carriage house for the dance. My guests loved being able to have lots of room to dance, or to go to the floor above and still be part of the festivities but sit in the comfy lounge chairs. It was a perfect mix of modern and art deco.The only reason I take away one star is the catering. Don't get me wrong, the food was fantastic and the service was superb, but the mansion only works with one caterer and this particular caterer was extremely expensive. My parents and I have had experience planning events for 500 plus and we were shocked by all the additional fees. The plates themselves were only 30-40 bucks per person, but once the house fee, the coordinator fee, the bartenders, and everything else was added, it was almost 100 bucks per person. I wish we could have shopped around for other options to save some money, but in the end it was worth the price.

Like most couples, we visited several venues before selecting the Van Dusen Mansion. I did have a \"vintage\" wedding in mind, so I looked at multiple options. We were fortunate to have toured the VDM during their change of ownership in 2016, so we were able to get some fabulous pricing options that are probably no longer available. We also had our wedding on a Sunday, which again helped with pricing. But even if those discounts had not been available to us, we would have chosen them anyway. We had our ceremony outside in the beautiful courtyard, and the cocktail reception and formal dinner inside the mansion. They have made many new upgrades to the ballroom, which are amazing. If you use the VDM for your venue, you are required to use Mintahoe for catering. This turned out to be a great convenience, and Mintahoe was also an amazing caterer. They are owned by the same company, which means they also know each other inside out, making the planning, coordination, and other tasks amazingly easy for us, as we did not use an independent wedding planner. The mansion is stunning, we lucked out with a perfect summer day for the outdoor ceremony, and if I had to do it over again, I would not have changed a thing. The staff bent over backwards to help us with planning and execution of all of the details for our amazing day. (Our wedding was in August 2016.) Take a tour! You won't be disappointed!

This venue is BREATHTAKINGLY beautiful. We had our wedding and reception here now Oct 2nd this year, and couldn't have been happier. The looks of the mansion are enough decoration enough, progressive-style for the guests to mingle and look around the bottom floor and basement. It was gorgeous weather, so we used the courtyard for the ceremony, the event center was a backup in case of inclement weather, and the carriage house on the other side of the courtyard has a dance floor. It was beautiful all over the place!

Jennifer Anderson, who works at the Van Dusen, is wonderful to work with. She has done weddings so many times, which makes your day much less stressful. She thinks of things that you would never even dream of!\rThey work exclusively with Mintahoe Catering, which increases the price of the entire package, but the food is tasty (not the best food I've ever had, but certainly good). This does allow for some ease throughout the entire day.\rJennifer contacted all my vendors before our wedding to ensure that everything was ready to go. She has the entire day planned out to ensure things run smoothly. Her team prepared the entire mansion before we arrived, cleaned up after us, and even loaded our things in our car while we were dancing!\rOur only complaint is that they didn't seem fully prepared when guests started to arrive, resulting in some guests seeing the entire wedding party before the ceremony. This wasn't a big deal for us, and the staff seemed quite surprised when we told them - I imagine this was a one-time mistake. They also didn't have a second bar set up as they had promised, but again, it didn't ruin our event in any way.\rHonestly, the space is so beautiful, and having a progressive event in three different buildings is a really novel idea. We had many compliments from guests, and our photographer and videographer were so excited to shoot in such a beautiful space! It's expensive, and certainly out of the price range for some people, but if you're comfortable spending more money, definitely look into this venue! Just a tip: They lower their rental costs and food & beverage minimums during the off-season, so a winter wedding is much more affordable than a summer one. The mansion might even be more beautiful when it's covered in snow, so definitely consider this!

My dream was always to get married in the Irish Countryside at a beautiful castle. When I finally got engaged and my fiancé told me he would not ask his family to fly around the world to see us get married I knew I had to find something as close to a castle as I could in MN. We stumbled across the Van Dusen Mansion and from the moment we walked out of our first meeting with Jennifer we knew we were going to book our wedding there. During our first meeting Jennifer was able to answer every possible question that an over planner like me could ask. She had a contingency plan for every possible scenario. I felt so comfortable planning my wedding with her. Once we were booked we were invited to a food tasting event where I was able to bring all my bridesmaids (my groom wasn't available) and walk them through the Van Dusen experience. They are still talking about what a fun time that was. Throughout the year of planning I had a lot of questions and I always got answers promptly. When I was lost or confused or stuck they provided direction on how to proceed to plan the best day of my life. During the actual wedding my husband and I were treated like royalty. Anything we asked for we received. My guests have even told us they felt like the guest of honor because of how well they were treated. We have received so many compliments on the service and how well the whole day just flowed. Our guests said that the transitions between ceremony to social hour to dinner to dance were seamless. Then at the end of the night the sparkler send off was truly magical. Our guests were blown away by the entire event. Then to top it off I am starting to receive our photos from the photographer and they are truly magical. Every background in the photos truly reminds me of what a fairy tale it all was. I am so thankful for the staff at the Van Dusen Mansion for providing a magical wedding day that we will never forget.

From the moment we arrived at the pristine grounds of the Van Dusen Manison, we were greeted by the Van Dusen staff with warm smiles and enthusiasm. They were so accomadating and helpful on this very important day. This felt like a fairytale as I arrived to find my beautiful wedding dress, dressed out and backlit against the sun streaming into the dressing room. A moment I will always remember and cherish. The venue is so beautiful, the history of the building, you want the walls to talk and share the stories from yesteryear. The warmth and splendor of all the different rooms available for our beautiful day was magificent. We cannot say enough good things about the manision itself, but what really was the icing on the cake was Jennifer and her staff!! So professional, so warm and they really were the glue that brought everything together on our special day. Jennifer, again Thank you!! I cannot say enough good things about the Van Dusen Mansion, Jennifer and all of the staff. From the moment we walked into the mansion to take a tour, we knew we had to make this our venue. Jennifer, Alyssa, and Elizabeth were so kind, helpful and by our sides the entire day. The mansion is absolutely exquisite. I couldn't stop thinking about it for the next couple of weeks while we were making our decision. There was no comparison to this beautiful mansion. From the moment we booked with Jennifer to the end of our wedding day, we were 100% satisfied. The staff, waiters and bartenders were so incredibly nice and polite. The hundreds of e-mails that went between myself, Elizabeth and Jennifer will never be forgotten. They are always helping making the day perfect. On our wedding day, we didn't have to worry at all, everything was taken care of and went flawlessly. When we had a letter go missing from a bridesmaid bouquet, they went out and found more letters to mix and match so no one would notice (I didn't even know until after our wedding day.) Jennifer, Elizabeth, Alyssa and the VD team truly made our wedding day a fairy tale come true. We couldn't imagine our wedding day anywhere else, and we honestly cannot stop talking about how perfect they made the day for us. Their passion for weddings shines through everything they do, and they want you to have the day of your dreams.

We had some last minute hair and make-up changes the week before the wedding and they were more than accommodating! My husband and I knew the moment we walked in the front door that the Van Dusen was the place for us! All throughout the planning, we had constant communication. We had told them that if they had any recommendations for our wedding, that we welcomed them! They sure had great ideas that we actually went with. They are very easy and great to work with! When we went for a tasting, we had a handicapped person with us. We communicated this with Elizabeth and while we were all most done eating, Jennifer was right there to take care of that person by helping them get to the next spot without us having to ask. That! Was unexpected and very much appreciated. The staff anticipated every step. They took great care of us! We were told at the end of our wedding: that they had the best time, the venue rocked, best wedding they ever went to. We both recommend this venue! My wife and I fell in love with the mansion on our initial visit and tour. It was the first place we looked, and subsequent venues just couldn't meet our excitement. From the beautiful wood work in every room, to the different color schemes and experiences that each building added to our wedding, we couldn't have asked for a more amazing outcome. The staff and on-site consultant helped to elevate our dream into a reality. We were in awe of how flawlessly our wedding went. From the champaigne greeting at the door as guests arrived to the transitions between ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dance, everything was run smoothly and professionally. We couldn't have asked for a better day. We'd get married here every year if we could!

My wedding was held at the van dusen in early october and EVERYONE had a wonderful time. It was so wonderfully coordinated by the Van Dusen staff, we only had to enjoy our day thanks to them. Elizabeth was kind and inviting, and Jennifer and her husband Matt knew the business so well. The venue was beautiful even in the rain. This is a very structured team and environment, which worked well for us since we didn't want to worry about set up/tear down and renting equipment. However it would not be the setting for a couple that wants more flexibility; the staff stuck to their tried and true plans for safety. Overall it was a fantastic experience at the van dusen and we had a PERFECT day.

We couldn't have picked a better venue. It is very beautiful and unique, but what really makes the Van Dusen stand out is their staff. From when we started planning to the day of the wedding, everyone we had contact with was great. They answered any need or question we had quickly and worked with us to make our day perfect. Their partnership with Mintahoe catering is awesome. Jennifer, Matt, Alyssa and Elizabeth (along with all of the other staff!) really work as a team and coordinate everything. They worked with our vendors to and really made our day stress free and a lot of fun. The security officers were great as well, we had a few guests with unexpected medical issues that day and we were so grateful to have someone with training on hand! The Van Dusen is really an outstanding venue!

Our wedding at the Van Dusen Mansion was nothing short of magical. Jennifer, Matt, and the entire staff made sure that the day went perfectly! They were all a joy to work with and knew exactly what to do so that my husband and I were able to enjoy the day rather than be busy or stressed taking care of things. Our guests absolutely LOVED the mansion and the way they were escorted from place to place through the evening. (We had many compliments on how quickly and efficiently the staff handled this.) We had the wedding of our dreams thanks to Matt, Jennifer, and the staff; it is clear that they are extremely experienced and passionate for what they do -- their passion shines through!

The Van Dusen Mansion and staff were fantastic, so professional and classy. Jennifer and Matt go above and beyond - like no other venue - to make sure everything goes perfectly and beautifully. Our wedding was like a real life fairy tale because it was there and stress free to plan. Just perfect. Our guests raved too saying that it was the best wedding they had ever been too and the most beautiful. We couldn't have been happier.

Jennifer and Matt make your wedding day stress free! The venue is absolutely beautiful and our friends and family loved the uniqueness about it! The different rooms and buildings allow for your guests to travel and explore throughout the wedding night. The mansion is beautifully decorated which reduces time and cost with planning. I highly recommend the Van Dusen Mansion!!!

The Van Dusen Mansion is absolutely beautiful for a wedding, but I was disappointed on a couple things. First, tours were given to other prospective couples during the whole time we were getting ready at the mansion and a portion of the time during photos. I thought that was very unprofessional considering we rented the space for the day for our private event. I found out later that as my Bridesmaids were changing into their dresses, they were walked in on by a tour. That was very upsetting to the girls. Then, our contract stated the bar would close at 11:30pm, but they closed it at 10:30pm. We were charged by the hour to have open bar for beer, wine, soda , and water, but were cut an hour short. Also, I did not find the staff to be as helpful as other posts I had read. Maybe that was due to the fact that they were busy giving tours.

Great venue for a reception. Cocktail hour is in the mansion, dinner in the reception hall, and dancing in the carriage house. It was fun to move around the mansion and use the entire space. All my guests commented on how friendly the staff was and how beautiful and unique the venue was. The staff took extra care to make sure everything was running smoothly. \rThe bridal party used the honeymoon suite's makeup room in the morning which was really fun!\rCons: the upstairs of the carriage house is small and is the only place where a slideshow can be shown so it was cramped during cake and watching the slideshow. I would recommend serving cake in the reception hall instead of the carriage house.

Our wedding took place May 2011...it was honestly one of the best days of my lives. The mansion is absolutely perfect in everyway...I cannot rave enough about it. My guests still gush about how perfect my venue was and that it was the best wedding that they have ever been to. The owners, Matt and Jennifer, are the BEST! The made our big day go off without a hitch and I am forever grateful to them. There are so many options at the Mansion, which makes it so fun! We had our ceremony in the courtyard, cocktail hour in Mansion, dinner in event room, and dance in the carriage house....it was perfect. You will not be dissappointed!

My partner and I had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Van Dusen in June 2011. We had the ceremony outdoors and it went perfectly. We used the mansion for cocktails, the event center for dinner and the carriage house for post-dinner dancing and drinks. Everything was set up wonderfully. Also, the plants and trees were amazing in early June which really added to our day.\r\rMatt and Jennifer are amazing at taking care of the details and ensuring the best possible results. Both Jennifer and Matt are great at making helpful suggestions and giving advice for those who need a little guidance. The staff took care of everything in terms of set up on the day of and we didn't have to worry about any details while we were focused on our family and friends.\r\rI would absolutely recommend this venue. No one had any complaints. It was the perfect place for our wedding day.

Our wedding at Van Dusen Mansion this year was a dream come true! We can't say enough great things about the staff, the owners, the location, the decor and the food! The mansion staff truly went above & beyond to assist us in planning & executing our special day. It is such a romantic location for not only weddings, but any special event. Van Dusen provided us with exceptional service & a fabulous environment that exceeded our expectations. We highly recommend this venue for weddings! I was so lucky to have my wedding at this venue. By far the most beautifully renovated mansion in the Twin Cities, you have access to the entire complex, the mansion which includes the honeymoon suite, clubroom and more, the courtyard, event center, the lawn, and amazing carriage house perfect for dances. So many options to make your day perfect. Matt and Jennifer are true professionals with great ideas that will do whatever it takes to give you your perfect day. Van Dusen staff of Matt, Jennifer and Alyssa made our wedding truly magical and an absolute breeze for my husband and I the day of. Throughout the process they were there for us with answers to all the questions that we needed answered. They set up everything in the reception hall the day of and the grounds were absolutely stunning. We got so many compliments on the venue as well as how nice the staff was that it made us proud that we had chosen to have our wedding there. Also, the ability to have everything on site was a great bonus.
