The Vermont Wedding Barn Reviews
Kate MacAulay(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-09-2022 The Vermont Wedding Barn was the perfect location for our late September wedding. The owners, Les & Jenny are the most wonderful, hospitable and caring people and we were so thankful to have been able to spend our wedding weekend in their company. The way they open up their home and hearts to their guests is amazing. The venue is well set up for a wedding of almost any size. Our event was small & intimate (about 70 people) but the barn & grounds could easily have accommodated three times that many people. However, the barn did not feel empty with our smaller group. Set up was very easy, with tables and chairs already on site and lots of decor stored on the premises for our use. One of our goals was not to create a lot of waste or buy a lot of decorations that we would never use again. Between what we did buy or make and what Les & Jenny have on site in their storage area, our tables were lovely and unique, without the waste. The property is incredible and our guests were thrilled to be able to wander outside, play lawn games, mingle with the alpacas (especially little Buddy & Bobby) and enjoy the truly incredible sunset. The running of the alpacas was so much fun and such a unique moment for our event. Staying in the pool cottage made set up so easy and we enjoyed spending the extra time on the farm. Les & Jenny were able to recommend many local vendors for food, liquor catering & heater rentals & were so incredibly helpful with our wedding prep. Reviewed on 29-10-2022
Sarah Garcia(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-07-2022 We had the best experience at the Vermont Wedding Barn. Jenny and Les were beyond helpful, welcoming us to their beautiful farm, allowing our friends to stay in the farm house while we stayed at the pool cabin, and helping us every step of the way in making our dream wedding happen. We loved being on the property from Thursday to Sunday, enjoying the beautiful views, alpacas, and more. Jenny and Les made the DIY aspect very doable, providing a variety of decorations for us to use and offering additional support with setup, day of coordination, and being available for every question or need. They even helped us to setup our rehearsal dinner at their VRBO farmhouse down the road! We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect weekend, or for better hosts for our wedding. Thank you Jenny and Les for an amazing experience. Reviewed on 10-08-2022
Jason Marks(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 16-07-2022 What an incredible venue and great people! We had an absolutely perfect Wedding weekend, in large part thanks to Jenny and Les! They are reasonable, kind, and down to earth people who will do whatever it takes to make your wedding weekend perfect! Stunning views on all sides, alpacas, and camping available for Wedding guests! The barn is gorgeous and Les and Jenny were kind enough to let us use any extra decorations that had been left behind by other weddings. During our stay at the cottage that weekend, we felt like family. We got to see an alpaca be born, we had the opportunity to bottle feed two others, and meet some of their other animals including chickens, cows, and of course their wonderful farm dog Addy! This is the ideal place for a Vermont Wedding or even just a great place for a weekend getaway. If you are considering having a 'running of the alpacas' as part of your wedding, DO IT! It was an awesome experience! Reviewed on 18-07-2022
Olivia Van Wyck(guest)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-05-2021 There were both great and challenging parts related to this venue. The location was absolutely beautiful and the alpacas were fun and unique. The barn had beautiful twinkling lights throughout the ceiling. The hosts also offered a significant number of decorations that had been left there from other weddings that we were allowed to use to decorate the barn which was very convenient. In addition, the hosts were very nice. The challenging parts were mostly related to setting the barn up. The hosts allowed the wedding party to set up the Thursday and Friday before the event on Saturday which was very helpful since there was a lot of setting up that had to be done. On Thursday when we went to go set up, the hosts were not on site which made it very difficult. There was no warning about a number of things related to the site that we had to figure out as we went along. This made the set-up take significantly longer than it should have. The floor was all uneven so all of the tables would wobble. There were slabs of wood that we found which we had to put under all of the tables. In addition, there were two large holes in the middle of the barn which needed to be blocked off with no guidance as to how we should do that. There were also some tables that were broken, however, they were still in the venue. There were also a number of items left from the last wedding which we had to figure out where to put. There was also a lot of dirt and leaves everywhere which we had to clean up ourselves. There was also some confusion about who was setting up what and where there would be accrual of costs. I think if the hosts had been present the day of setting up, it would be gone much more smoothly. Also, if there had been more help on their end with setting up as well. Other than that, it was a good venue. Reviewed on 01-06-2021
Corinne Thomas(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 15-05-2021 I just want to start by saying that Jenny and Les are extremely sweet people and their farm is a gorgeous area for a wedding. It was great being able to use the area for the rehearsal dinner the day before and having the whole weekend to set up and tear down was very helpful. That being said, I guess I was expecting a little more labor on their end. I'm glad I decided to start setting up the Thursday before the wedding which I highly reccomend for any future brides, since it took forever to align the tables and chairs how I wanted and then jam little pieces of wood under almost every leg since the floor was so uneven. We also had to sweep and take a leaf blower to the place ourselves. They didn't want us setting up the chairs for the outdoor reception until the day of even though it wasn't supposed to rain, so my family members had to run out the morning of and throw the whole reception area together and them come back and get ready which was a little frustrating and stressful for me. Les picked up the chairs right after the ceremony, which my family was going to do at the end of the night but he went ahead and did it and then I found out he charged $1 per chair so I was a little taken back that he didn't ask first. There were a few other weird times where Les asked my photographer to bring the truck around and when my sisters had asked him to bring the van full of chairs closer to the ceremony area he said \"well the keys are in the van\". I guess I was just expecting a little more etiquette on his end. Overall, it was still a beautiful barn with great outdoor ceremony areas, I just thought for me having to do everything myself it may be a little overpriced and they should probably include that on their contract for future weddings. Melissa Yencho(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 14-04-2019 My husband and I did a mini-honeymoon break for a few nights after our wedding and it was PERFECT! Jenny and Les are the perfect hosts and are so sweet and welcoming. They truly went out of their way to make our stay special. The cottage is cozy and comfortable with a beautiful pool view and close to gorgeous fields. And of course the alpacas!!!! They are so peaceful and we enjoyed walking the grounds and watching these gentle animals. It was a lovely stay and one of the highlights of our trip. Reviewed on 25-01-2019
Kelly Burkett(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-10-2018 This is an absolute amazing venue! If you want a unique spot with unique touches, this is the place for you. Jenny and Les were extremely helpful and accommodating throughout the entire process. The selling point for my husband and I was the fact that we could bring in all our own vendors and there were no restrictions on this. The Running of the Alpacas was so awesome and a HUGE hit with our guests! We had a fall wedding and the view of the Adirondacks as well as the fall foliage (with alpacas and cows in the background) was so beautiful. Be prepared though- if you are looking for a venue where all the details are taken care of for you, this is not the place for you. You will have to do all the leg work for decorating and set up and bring pretty much everything in yourself (again, Les and Jenny are very helpful). We didn't mind doing this as the price was right and it allowed us the freedom to make it our own. Also, the only bathroom options are porta potties and if you are having your wedding in the Spring or Fall, you MUST get at least two heaters. Even with our heaters, it was very chilly in the barn. Having said all that, we wouldn't have wanted to have our day anywhere else. It was everything we dreamed of and we can't recommend this venue enough! Reviewed on 10-11-2018
Arthur Bond(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 09-06-2018 Beautiful setting with plenty of views and photography spots. The owners, Les and Jenny, were amazing and accommodating. Audrey Kelton(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 13-10-2018 We had the PERFECT wedding day/entire wedding experience at The Vermont Wedding Barn! The views and scenery cannot be matched. I am originally from Vermont and some of the most beautiful land in the state is in Bridport. The barn is gorgeous which makes decorations so easy, less is more! Les and Jenny are so easy to work with and genuinely want you to get everything you dreamed of in a venue. The alpacas were a huge hit and added to the fun for us! Being able to have a bonfire after the DJ and caterers were finished added so much more time with the people who attended the wedding and allowed us to keep the night going as long as we wanted. It is so convenient for your guests to be able to pitch a tent or bring and RV and camp for the night and not have to get hotel rooms! We got so much more out of The Vermont Wedding Barn as a venue than other venues even begin to offer. We cannot say enough good things about it and would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone getting married! Thank you Les and Jenny, you’re the best! Reviewed on 18-10-2018
Danielle Williams(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-08-2018 When we scheduled a time to come look at the venue (for ceremony and reception) before committing, Les and Jenny were wonderful with making sure we had every detail ahead of time. They knew we would be missing church to make the drive up to visit, so they invited us to theirs. They are an overwhelmingly wonderful couple. A week before our wedding, Jenny called me to go over seating and tables and all she could do to make setup day even easier for us. When it came to the big day we couldn’t have been happier with their cooperation and helpfulness. Our wedding was so much more beautiful than I had imagined, all because of the support we received from Les and Jenny. Reviewed on 19-09-2018

Les & Jenny went above and beyond any expectations to ensure we had everything we needed. They were so accommodating with all questions answering very promptly. They were there to help set up on thursday and friday and made sure everything went smoothly. There is a cottage on site for the newlyweds to stay in that is adorable!! Isaiah Berg(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 17-02-2019 Les & Jenny are \"salt of the earth\" people, truly good people which makes a huge difference in business.
After my wife and I had coordinated with St. Mary's Church in Middlebury for our wedding on July 1, we began hunting for local venues. Les & Jenny have a really amazing thing going with their home, wedding barn, and working farm at Champlain Valley Alpacas. From the moment we met them, we knew it was the right place for us, and the day was truly magical. We could not be more thankful.
Our wedding was a pretty eclectic affair. I am a farm kid from North Dakota and a Marine. My wife grew up in New York but much of her family immigrated from Trinidad. We were hoping to find a reception venue that reflected the different facets of our relationship, and our love for New England where we met during college.
Even though we might not have codified our priorities at the time we were looking at the venue, in hindsight, this is what we prioritized:1) a beautiful space, not only in the interior and decoration, but in the surrounding environment 2) a venue that allowed us a lot of flexibility in terms of timeline, style, activities, etc.3) a place that could incorporate things that were important to us (agriculture, localism, family, music, outdoor activities)4) a solid and beautiful structure so there would be no concerns about tents or rain5) affordable, providing high quality recommendations for vendors, with freedom to choose what works best
The Wedding Barn at Champlain Valley Alpacas really delivered. Traveling from afar to set up for the wedding on a holiday weekend, it made it easy to have the place \"completely ours\" all weekend with no stressful timeline constraints. Les & Jenny were very responsive via email whenever we had questions. Our reception had a \"run of the alpacas\ Reviewed on 17-12-2017
Laura S(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 03-06-2017 My husband and I got married at Champlain Valley Alpacas in June. This venue MADE the wedding. Les and Jenny were wonderful hosts, and the space itself was perfect for us. The price is right for what you get, especially compared to other venues in the state. It is definitely a DIY AFFAIR, but Les and Jenny answered all of our questions that came up. They were very friendly and willing to lend a hand when they weren't taking care of things on their working farm. There are a few different options for ceremony sites, and we chose the outdoor space overlooking the Adirondaks. It was a chilly day and a bit windy out in the field, but the scenery made up for it all. The barn was just what we were looking for and fit our rustic wedding vibe perfectly! It's huge and the fact that the back of the barn has an open side meant that people could play lawn games, but still be involved in the dance party. Make sure you are on the same page with Les and Jenny about Sunday clean up. We had a little mix up regarding expectations on Sunday, and it definitely could have been avoided on both sides. One last word: ALPACAS. Let me just tell you, having alpacas at the wedding was so unique. Our guests were NEVER bored and they were simply adorable. Anyway, a word of advice, get in early at this venue, because they book up QUICK. Thank you Les, Jenny, and family! Reviewed on 13-08-2017
Daniel Portice(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 12-09-2018 Jen and Les have a gorgeous venue! The fact that they are so well-established made it easy to work with caterers and vendors. Jen and Les were very accommodating about setting up early so we were able to have an elegant, intimate, and affordable event. The barn, however can accommodate a great many more guests. The alpacas were a hit and a welcome addition to the wedding photos, and alpaca wedding favors were a soft, cuddly keepsake for all our guests. Don't forget to ask about the Bridal Suite (Pool Cottage) and gift shop! Jen and Les are very helpful when it comes to setting up and planning, and even for some emotional support should you need. Suffice it to say, the value of booking your wedding at The Vermont Wedding Barn far exceeds the price! Reviewed on 11-07-2017
