My husband and I were married at The William Aiken House this past December. We had the most amazing experience with PPHG and their wonderful staff. The venue, the food, the beverages, the atmosphere, and the staff were all absolutely incredible. It is almost a year later, and I STILL have guests talking about the food, service, and venue. It was such an easy decision to get married at The William Aiken House since this was the one and only venue I truly loved. I knew I wanted a Charleston wedding, and The William Aiken House is the epitome of Southern elegance. Rachel and Lauren were absolutely wonderful to work with and were so accomodating throughout the entire process. The tasting was such a fun experience as well, and we enjoyed being able to taste and test some of the wonderful food we would enjoy on our wedding day. When I say the food is incredible, I 100% mean it. Our wedding day was so incredible and the staff were all so accomodating to my guests. If I could give PPHG more than 5 stars, I would! I truly had the wedding of my dreams, and it is all thanks to my wonderful vendors and PPHG! Southern Charm Perfection. I never dreamt that I would get married in Charleston, let alone in a venue as romantic as the William Aiken House. From the bright colors, and historical architecture to the well-manicured garden and cobblestone paths, this was a dreamy spot to tie the knot. We got married in October 2023 and I couldn’t be happier with the final result. The venue was perfect. PPHG and the staff were amazing throughout the whole process from initial contact with Erin to their in-house planners, Abby Frye who was fantastic - she took all the guesswork out of it, made it an enjoyable experience, and the final result was stellar - more than what I could have imagined - to Nadia who helped us at the tasting experience and made sure we were never left out of food or drinks at our wedding. Abby and Nadia were a Godsend on the day of the wedding. All of our guests raved about how beautiful and how classy the venue and event were, how delicious the food was especially the crab cakes and oatmeal cream pies, and how nice all the staff were. We felt very welcomed and supported by Abby and the PPHG team - they all went above and beyond and I would recommend them over and over again. Reviewed on 18-01-2024

We got married at The William Aiken House this December, and it was the perfect venue. Beyond being a beautiful venue, PPHG itself was amazing. The whole PPHG staff was incredibly helpful throughout the planning process, from an extremely informative initial tour of the venue to helpful information packets and brochures to a wonderful tasting experience at Parcel 32 to everything they did for us on the wedding weekend itself. So many of our guests raved about how beautiful the venue is, how delicious the food was, and how nice all of the service staff were throughout the night. We felt very supported throughout the whole weekend, and PPHG truly went above and beyond to make sure we got to enjoy our day, including waiting with one of each our signature cocktails for us and two of each of the hors d'oeuvres and food station items so we got to enjoy every detail. There aren't enough words to describe our amazing experience hosting our wedding at The William Aiken House. We aren't from Charleston and so we completed the venue search virtually. The team answered all of our questions and provided an excellent virtual tour of the property. Despite this virtual tour and seeing so many photos, our in-person visit completely blew us away. The property is breathtaking in person due to its grand scale. During the wedding planning process, the team kept us up-to-date on all of our deadlines with menus, guest count, and payments. The tasting experience was phenomenal. We requested two custom passed hors d'oeuvres that the culinary team executed flawlessly. The mini empanadas were one of our favorite parts of the day! Finally, the whole staff at PPHG exceeded every expectation for the day of. They prepared my husband and me a tray of appetizers for after the ceremony to eat privately, and they made sure that our parents were well taken care of throughout the night. I wish we could relive this experience over and over again and not change a thing because PPHG ensured that our wedding was perfect! Reviewed on 04-12-2023

I worked with Kelly, and could not have been better satisfied with everything at the William Aiken House and with Patrick Properties. One thing that I especially appreciated was that we had created a custom menu for the anticipated rehearsal dinner 3 years ago with Cru Catering at that time, and your group was able to provide everything we had put together before so that we did not have to start over with planning the menu. Rachel was easily the best we worked with throughout our venue search and is a genuinely kind hearted individual! We also worked with Becky Kearns, who was also an absolute joy work with! Kim R(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-10-2019 My husband and I booked the William Aiken House for our fall wedding about a week ago. The venue itself is a perfect example of historical and charming Charleston, SC. The rooms in the house are gorgeous and make for beautiful photos. We were blessed with amazing weather and made great use of the verandas, the courtyard, gardens, and the lots in front of the carriage house! Everything about it was just incredible. I had the pleasure of working with the Rachels and Abby, and they helped make the day of my dreams become a reality! We booked the venue almost 14 months before our actual wedding date - we fell in love with it and knew instantly that this is where we wanted to have our wedding. Obviously, booking that far in advance things definitely change - the catering menu got a little more refined. I panicked because I did not know how this would translate into the vision I had at the start - Rachel immediately reassured me and was able to work with me to create a menu that would fit the southern fare theme we were going for. The tasting was out of this world and we immediately knew that going with PPHG was the best decision! Abby stepped in and along with the Rachels she helped shaped my day into the most special day of my life. The cake artist, Jessica, worked with us to fit the exact vision of a cake that we wanted - and it was seriously some of the best cake that we have ever had! From the setting to the food, this place has it all. It even has separate rooms, and when I needed a moment, or when a mom needed a moment, they were able to relax. You cannot go wrong here - it is truly one of the most beautiful places in Charleston! The food is absolutely incredible, and we are still getting compliments on it. I would highly recommend PPHG and the team at the William Aiken House to help you make your wedding dreams a reality! Reviewed on 28-10-2019
Ivalena Dantcheva(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-07-2019 If you've made it down to the review section you already know ALLLLL about the absolutely gorgeous venues PPHG offers. But what you may not know ALL about is the people behind the PPHG team-- and they really ARE a team! My (now) husband and I married at The William Aiken House on July 26, 2019. We began our venue search before anything else (except I had already purchased my shoes). We didn't have a planner yet and we didn't really know if we wanted a church setting or not. We met with Rachel in July of 2018 to tour Lowndes Grove and WAH. She was so knowledgeable, both with respect to wedding talk (how many people do the venues accommodate, will it look empty if we have less people, how would the day flow in this venue, etc) and historical significance of both places. She worked with us to really decide if we wanted a church setting for the ceremony or to have all of the festivities in one spot. She wasn't pushy at all and gave us all the time we needed to make a decision. She replied to emails and questions quickly and concisely! She was a pleasure to be around and work with! She even recommended wedding planners, and we ended up choosing our planner from her recommendations! After we had our tasting, (which was like a mini wedding!!!!) we were in Erin's hands. Erin was so enthusiastic about our day (it was like her best friend was getting married!) and again she was very knowledgeable about the wedding world and how things work. She recommended several things that ended up being a huge help to us and our budget! She was so very patient with as we went back and forth on plates, and glassware, and whether or not to have this or that... On the day of the wedding, things came up and with our planner, Lauren, and both Rachel and Erin being on site, issues were resolved quickly and discreetly, no one panicked, no one didn't know what to do, there was no chaos.... Our dinner service was impeccable! From the delicious food, to wine glasses never going empty, to the synchronized service, we truly felt like royalty. Our cake was designed, by their pastry chef, Jessica, going off of Pinterest photos and my description of what I wanted to feel when I saw the cake (there was a lot of that). And the fact that she was able to put my feelings in buttercream and sugar flowers and gold pearls, is nothing short of amazing! Oh and it was absolutely delicious! Our guests have reached out to us to complement us on the venue and service, saying that was the most beautiful venue they've ever been to and that dinner service made them feel like royalty, but we honestly cannot take any credit for any of it! But for Rachel and Erin and our planner, and PPHG, our day would not have gone so perfectly! PPHG works like a well oiled wedding machine! They are there for their couples from the tour to the send off! I would say, pick a PPHG venue just for the opportunity to have this amazing team take care of you! Reviewed on 28-10-2019

All of my guests raved about the food at the wedding and the beautiful Charleston home. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that they charge you to use the bridge to walk across for your ceremony, but they don't anchor it down, so as my husband and I were walking across it after the ceremony, it came up in the air and we almost fell into the water. For the most part the service was good, however a bowl of soup was spilled on/next to a guest at the wedding, and the bartenders neglected to put the custom stirrers in the drinks and give out the custom cocktail napkins. We have nearly full boxes of each of these special touches at our house now.\r\rThe bar packages are of lesser quality than you would expect at a venue of this caliber. \r\rUnfortunately during the entire planning process it felt like we were just another couple, and it was just another day to Patrick Properties. Our sales coordinator Amber, did everything within her power to accommodate our requests, however it was clear that she was representing a company that has incredibly strict policies. She made exceptions where she was able, but unfortunately the Patrick Properties policies are not often malleable. Patrick Properties' contracts are rigid, to put it mildly. It is clear that they are more interested in the bottom line than creating relationships with clients. \r\rOur banquet captain, whom we had worked with to craft the menu during the entire planning process, never came to say hello on the day of the big event. \r\rBeautiful setting, reasonable food, reasonable service, difficult planning process due to the company. The staff at WAH were willing to work with me on having a small rehearsal dinner for 40 guests and then a larger party (around 150) come in for a welcome reception after dinner. We offered yummy dessert options, some late night food and Bailey's milkshakes as guests arrived for the welcome reception! It was so great to hold all of my parties with PPHG because they could really help with menu selections and I felt comfortable all weekend long. I even held an after party at Fish restaurant after my wedding reception - this is a great idea and I highly recommend it!!! Our rehearsal dinner was very intimate in the upstairs ballroom and the food was impeccable. My guests are still raving over the short ribs and mac and cheese!! William Aiken House is also great because it is right on King Street and you don't have to provide any transportation for your guests. I will definitely be sending friends and family to William Aiken House!! Reviewed on 15-08-2013
Meg Calnon(bride)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-04-2013 The venue was absolutely beautiful and THE most perfect location. The reason I cannot give a glowing, 5 star review is the fact that the sales team pushes a WAY too hard to upsell you at every corner - treating your money as if it was of no value...just paper. Anand Chokkavelu(groom)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-02-2013 We already knew we were getting our dream venue in William Aiken House, but on our wedding day we were still surprised by the beauty of the William Aiken House and all the little touches. \r\rWhy did we pick it? Location, functionality, and beauty. It is in the heart of Charleston and walking distance from hotels. With use of the mansion and the grounds, we could set up four venues in one: the outdoor ceremony area, the open DJ tent, the lounge in front of the carriage house, and the inside of the mansion itself. When you walk in off the street, you forget you're in the downtown area. Stunning.\r\rPart of the deal is that if you use the William Aiken House, you have to use their caterer. This is a very, very good thing. The food blew our guests away...the Indian food station using my Mom's recipes was really well done (the eggplant dish was sooo spicy...excellent!)...other food highlights included the late night chicken on a biscuit, the pimiento cheese (better than Magnolia's), and the beef carving station. As a bonus, we had no idea the delicious s'mores station would have a fire pit! \r\rWe heard oohs and ahhs from friends and family all night. Most telling, the moms no longer seemed to care that the ceremony wasn't at a church. \r\rOur main contact, Amber Cote, was a pro throughout the whole process. When she said something or gave your opinion on what we should do, we could take it to the bank. She knew what we wanted before we did!\r\rTo make a long story longer, it was the best wedding venue we've ever been to and the best wedding food we've ever eaten -- by far.\r Reviewed on 13-03-2013
Rowena Patrick(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 21-07-2012 I could go on and on about how beautiful the William Aiken House is, but you already knew that from looking at the pictures. I could also tell you that the house and grounds are even more stunning when you see it in person, but you could probably figure that out too.\r\rSo why don’t I tell you about the amazing people, the ridiculously yummy food and the excellent level of service that I received throughout my wedding planning process. \r\rI lucked out in having a wedding for July in Charleston because WAH was doing a summer promotion with 50% off the location fee. So, a big bonus to start. And sure, in order to book at WAH, you have to use their in-house caterer Fish Restaurant. But that is a WONDERFUL thing. Not only will you have one less vendor to worry about, the food is incredible. We did the Lowcountry Buffet and it was simply perfection. It’s been 2 weeks since my wedding and my guests are still raving about how amazing everything tasted. \r\rSarah and Margaret, and everyone behind the scenes at WAH made the whole process just so easy. From choosing the date to the proposal/contract to the tasting to finalizing the wedding day details, they were always just on top of it all, and super fun to work with. We booked the Carriage House suite for the day/night of the wedding – and it was (as expected) beautifully appointed and exactly what we needed. The William Aiken House is a spectacular location for a Charleston wedding, and the people behind the scenes made it a dream wedding for me. Reviewed on 14-08-2012
Tiffany Heffner(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 19-02-2012 I recently got married in February at The William Aiken House. It was very affordable during this month as we saved thousands of dollars. There is no need to spend much on decorating as it posses its own charm. I honestly, cannot say anything but positive about our experience. However, I will say that they provide NOTHING AT ALL... So, be careful with your rentals and headcount as it can quickly add up if you are trying to stick to a budget. The venue was perfect for us and we couldn't have asked for a better event coordinator! We were very pleased with how much room there was for people to get around. People are still raving to us about the wonderful food! FISH also handled our cake, which turned out beautiful and very tasty. Anna Dufresne(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-07-2011 The William Aiken House is simply a beautiful, antebellum style house in the middle of downtown Charleston. From the antique style rooms to the lush courtyard, it provided a breathtaking setting for our July wedding. Everyone that we worked with was so organized, helpful, and on top of it which made the wedding day flow very well. The food provided by Fish catering had people drooling (def. get the grill station with swordfish). The house itself needed no addition to decorating and we did minimal floral arrangements outside since the courtyard already is very green and floral. You do have to do all of your rentals through an outside company, but we had a wedding coordinator help us with all of that. I would definitely recommend using the frame of a tent with bulb lights and draping instead of the top of the tent. It allows you to see the sky and enjoy the night under the stars rather than under a tent. You can go all out at this place, or you can do as we did and just use the house and its surroundings and have a pretty laid back, fun, and still beautiful reception. If you want a wedding to remember, this is definitely a special place! Reviewed on 20-07-2011

Alissa Cardone(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 24-07-2010 My husband and I live in Chicago and we were looking for a unique and intimate destination wedding location somewhere in the South or out west in California. The William Aiken House was actually the first venue that I came across in my search and I instantly fell in love with the history and beauty of the grounds and house. We continued to look at other venues, but nothing compared to WAH and in the end, we booked our wedding without ever even seeing it in person! Amber and the Willliam Aiken House staff was so friendly, approachable, and helpful throughout the entire planning process. When we flew down to Charleston to finalize the planning a few months before the wedding, we were truly treated like royalty and were convinced this was the perfect fit for us! The service was top notch, the food was exactly what we had envisioned and they worked alongside us to make sure ever aspect fit our needs/wants. If you are looking for a stress free, unique, and truly magical place to have your wedding and reception, the William Aiken House should be on the top of your list. The William Aiken House happened to be one of the first venues I looked at, along with Lowndes Grove. Ultimately, after visiting several other sites, I knew that was the place for us. It was small enough to feel cozy and intimate, but big enough to not feel cramped. We had the ceremony by the Carriage House, and the reception in the upstairs ballroom, with cocktails, desserts, and some lawn games downstairs. It was a very unique venue, unlike any our guests had ever been to, and it brought some of Charleston's very rich history into our wedding.\r\rWe chose to have a Sunday wedding, mostly to avoid the minimum food and beverage costs required on Saturdays at that time of year. If you are having a smaller wedding (ours was barely under 50 people), it will honestly be a stretch to meet the food/bev minimums. However, the fact that a larger wedding had taken place there just the night before ours was completely undetectable. I would not expect the same from many venues.\r\rThe staff at Patrick Properties was so easy to work with, I felt I barely had to do anything. Courteous, professional, and overall kind people. \r\rThe catering at all Patrick Properties locations is done by Fish Restaurant, and I can't say how glad I am to have experienced their food. (If only I had tried it when I still lived in Charleston!) Everything tasted superb, and the presentation was just as wonderful, if not better. There are all types of food available, even for the veggie-eaters. Our favorite part was the desserts (of course!). We did not want a full sized wedding cake, but rather a small (8 or 9 inch) presentation cake for cutting, and several types of bite-size pieces (mini-cupcakes, cheesecake cubes, little pies). And, as if the food wasn't great already, the service provided by the waitstaff was impeccable! \r\rI know the prices may seem steep for this venue and the catering, but once you've seen it all put together, it really is worth it. Farrah Follmann(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-03-2009 The William Aiken house is a beautiful location for a reception. The fact that both the indoor and outdoor areas are beautiful is a big plus. It has great photo potential. Guests enjoy it because it a beautiful historic home and it's convenient to all of downtown Charleston. The caterer Fish is owned by the same company. They have excellent food and try to cater to your individual needs.;The staff at the W.A. house prefer to work with certain vendors (wedding planners photographers etc) so although they suggest you use these people it's not mandatory. I let myself be influenced on a few choices like the wedding planner Fleur and I very much regretted it afterwards. Reviewed on 10-06-2009
