The Transept is a unique wedding venue situated in Cincinnati, OH. Celebrate your special day in this incredible venue, once a church, and now a one-of-a-kind space to host memorable events. Established in 1867, the German Gothic building is complete with vaulted ceilings and magnificent stained glass. The space offers you and your guests a truly incredible backdrop for the big day, combining its rich character with contemporary finishings. Choose from the various event spaces within this venue to find one that suits your needs. The Transept can host weddings of all sizes, with areas for intimate gatherings and extravagant celebrations alike. The largest room, The Assembly, can accommodate up to 220 guests for a seated meal or 400 for a cocktail-style reception. Full of enchanting features from its construction, the room offers a glimpse into the past during a celebration looking towards the future. The North Tap Room is ideal for smaller gatherings, with space for up to 90 guests, while The Registrar can hold 80. Framed by backlit wood bookshelves and a hall of mirrors, The Registrar is the venue's most intimate space, charming and welcoming for small weddings and rehearsal dinners. Whichever space you choose, you and your guests can also step onto The Veranda patio for a breath of fresh air. This outdoor area is accented with lush greenery and acts as a stunning backdrop for photographs. You can have all of your wedding needs met in The Transept with the help of the dedicated staff. Setup and clean-up of your event space are looked after by the team. Catering and bar services are provided in-house by DelightMore, who will work with you to design a menu that suits your tastes and requirements. The meal can be served in a range of styles from hors d'oeuvres and a cocktail reception to buffets and plated meal service. All dinnerware is supplied by the team, and audiovisual equipment and a dance floor can be set up for your after-dinner party. The food was outstanding, the staff was friendly, fun, and professional, and they were there for us every step of the way. We can't imagine having done it anywhere else and with anyone else.

A beautiful venue in a vibrant, central, neighborhood, we had the best experience planning our wedding with the folks at the Transept and Funky's. 10/10 recommend having your wedding at the Transept!!! We had a great experience from start to finish. The staff at Funky’s is unmatched! They’re well organized and very easy to work with throughout the wedding process. They truly take care of every detail - from ordering linens and lighting, to decor set up and take down on the wedding day. Our wedding was magical and we feel that was because of the wonderful coordinators and staff that were attentive and helped things run smoothly on the day of the wedding. Another thing we really enjoyed was being able to meet with our event manager prior to our wedding as well. We did not use a wedding planner or hire an outside coordinator, nor did we need one. We couldn’t have been happier with our experience and highly recommend the Transept!

The Transept was a fantastic place for us to have our wedding! From the initial meetings, to the planning process and all the way through our big day, they were the ultimate professionals. The space was beautiful and we had so many guests compliment us on how it looked for all aspects of the day. The many spaces you can use from the bridal tower to the groomsmen suite and the bar space used for cocktail hour made everything very seamless and easy. We will never forget our day and having it at The Transept was a huge part of that!

We looked at a bunch of venues before we saw the Transept but knew immediately it was perfect for our wedding and I'm so glad we chose it. The space is beautiful and worked seamlessly for having the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all at the same location. The food was fantastic - we got so many positive comments on it from our guests. We were initially a little concerned that having two separate seating areas (one upstairs and one downstairs) would feel awkward but having the second bar upstairs meant that our guests went back and forth and hung out in both locations throughout the night. Probably most importantly the team was so easy to work with and for our other vendors to work with. They were responsive and helpful throughout the planning process and the day-of staff made for a perfect and stress-free day for us. Thank you!!

The building itself is gorgeous and every area has something unique or interesting to notice. The area it’s in is quintessential Cincinnati/OTR and just felt alive on the day. 10/10 venue, I’m really hoping some of our friends get married here so we can come back

The staff, food, and venue at the Transept were both the best we could have imagined. The venue speaks for itself - beautiful space - wonderful areas for bride and groom to both get ready separately (bride's especially in the clock tower), but the staff really stood out. Planning was made easy - they had all details covered, and really helped de-stress the whole thing. Day of, they were extremely attentive, professional, and caring/personal. Couldn't have asked for better, truly. Thank you all again!

From the very beginning of our wedding planning process, the Transept went above and beyond to make sure we had every aspect of our day planned perfectly! Communication between us and their staff was always consistent. They were quick and more than happy to answer every question we had, and we had many! The Transept and their staff care about the guest experience as well which was very important to us. On the wedding day, the flow from the ceremony to the reception was a breeze thanks to the precise planning they did. Every detail was considered and figured out. As the bride, I was able to just relax and enjoy the day with no issues whatsoever. As a big planner myself, this was such a relief! On the wedding day itself, there were multiple staff members coordinating every detail such as informing guests where to gather, informing the bridal party where to stand, when to enter, and which events would be taking place next. On top of everything, the Transept is absolutely STUNNING! The venue has so much character and beautiful details on its own and this made decor and floral arrangement decisions even easier. I couldn’t recommend this venue more!

We had our October wedding at the Transept and it went perfectly. Funky’s Catering handled everything and, if there were any issues throughout the day, we were never made aware of them. Before the day even came, anyone who heard Funky’s would be handling our food commented on how excited they were. On the actual day, they lived up to their reputation. Food and service were incredible. The staff during our wedding were all lovely and the team who helped us plan during the months leading up were just as amazing.

I would recommend The Transept/Funky's catering to anyone and everyone. Not only was the food fantastic (seriously, AMAZING!), they facilitated my day at the Transept flawlessly. Every single person who had a hand in my day was so courteous and helpful, they took care of everything and all I had to do the day of my wedding was get ready and enjoy myself. The table-side ordering was incredible and definitely worth the extra money. We marveled at how the owners of Funky's were serving food to my guests during my reception. There wasn't a single detail that they did not think of and I could not have had a more perfect day because of them.

The Transept was our #1 pick for venue and we were so excited to lock in our date. We got married there in January 2022. The day went very smoothly besides a few minor hiccups which I'm sure happen at most weddings so we took it in stride! The issues we experienced with the venue were mostly leading up to the wedding. Communication was MINIMAL. Every time we needed to schedule a meeting , I was the one reaching out. Often times not getting a response until days later. I didn't meet my assigned coordinator until the final meeting and only because I asked for her to be there. Every meeting felt rushed, like they just wanted us in and out the door. I thought our linens meeting was going to be going through options and explaining the rental process for specific table settings and linens. Instead, I was only asked if we wanted white or black and kind of sped along. I asked questions about other options and felt like the person in charge of the meeting was annoyed with me, like I was wasting their time. I HIGHLY SUGGEST hiring a wedding planner if you decide to have your wedding here. It's beautiful and the food is great, but if this is your first wedding planning experience, you need someone there to advocate for you and guide you in the process, because the planners offered in house just don't seem to care. Additionally, I asked multiple questions and tried to get things in order a week or two prior to our wedding and was brushed off.I know they have events every weekend, but it was extremely stressful having to constantly respond to emails two days before the wedding. Something I felt could've been avoided had time management been a little better on their end.Our only big issue day of was that we were told we had the whole building for us all day. Turns out they hosted an engagement party at the bar area during our wedding and we had MULTIPLE wedding crashers. When we discussed this with them afterwards they didn't apologize or take ownership, but told us our guests were also trying to crash the engagement party. Our guests thought that was part of our event because it was supposed to be.Overall, I would suggest getting married there ONLY and only if you have an outside wedding planner hired.

We had a fantastic experience having our wedding at The Transept! First, the space is absolutely gorgeous - I was looking for a more unique venue (i.e. not a hotel ballroom wedding) and immediately fell in love with The Transept. The bridal tower in particular is STUNNING and was such a fun place to spend the day getting ready with my bridesmaids. Second, the wedding coordinators and staff is extremely professional and great to work with. Jennifer is so on top of it and we felt taken care of throughout the whole process - from booking the venue, to postponing our wedding a year, to the wedding day. Funky's food also cannot be beat - we received so many compliments from guests on how amazing all the food and drinks were. Overall we really couldn't be happier with the way everything turned out and are so happy we chose to have our wedding at The Transept!

From start to finish, everyone associated with The Transept was AMAZING. Such attention to detail, nothing overlooked, and a BEAUTIFUL venue. From our planning meetings, to visits to visualize the space, dealing with Covid, to the rehearsal and the wedding day, it was first class from start to finish. The area the wedding party got ready in was stunning and a fun start to the festivities. We utilized the entire building for ceremony, cocktails, dinner and dancing. Such a unique spot! Our wedding of ~130 guests was perfectly spaced out and floated throughout the beautiful spaces seamlessly. The Vestry and The Assembly made the perfect backdrop for our indoor photos, and Washington Park is just a stone's throw away for outdoor pictures too. The staff was top-notch and made sure not only me and my husband were taken care of, but all of our immediate family too.10/10 – would recommend The Transept to every couple looking for a beautiful venue in downtown Cincinnati.

The Transept did a phenomenal job for our wedding November 6, 2020. Everything from start to finish was extremely organized. The food, venue, service & overall experience leading up to and on the wedding day could not have been more perfect. I highly recommend this venue and caterer to anyone getting married!

The Transept was such a beautiful and perfect venue for our wedding. I loved getting ready in the bridal suite and we were able to take some amazing pictures outside and across the street at Washington Park. The Funky's team was great to work with--I did not have a wedding planner nor did I need one because they had a team of people that made sure all the details were taken care of. Shannon and Anna were especially awesome the day of the wedding!

This venue is gorgeous, the food was delicious, and the service was great. Truly everything was 5 stars all around except for dealing with the details and payments.Perhaps our issues were a one-off because our coordinator switched about three months out, but we consistently had issues with information we were told regarding the planning of our event and costs, and what the final bill was. It was exhausting having to perpetually go over everything with a fine-toothed comb and compare. And I felt frustrated that after we provided a cash tip, they emailed us asking us about more. I think these issues would have been different if we had the same coordinator the entire time and if they were upfront with all costs at the very beginning.Overall, I would still highly recommend the venue and funkys catering services. This was the single best decision we made for our wedding! They took care of EVERYTHING and our wedding day was absolutely perfect. We got ready in the bell tower suite which was beautiful and all 8 or us plus 2 stylists had plenty of room. The guys got ready and played poker in the basement and it was so convenient having everyone in one building. The reception was absolutely beautiful and the staff was so friendly and helpful they even made my dad a quick sandwich right before we left for the ceremony and brought me a tide to-go pen when I spilled red wine on myself (after pictures, phew). When we dropped the decorations off the day before, they unloaded our car and did everything. If you’ve been here, you know the space is beautiful and I loved that I didn’t feel like I needed to cover things up and put decorations everywhere. We had centerpieces, but only a few other decorations beyond that and it was so elegant. I seriously can’t say enough good things about the staff. Emily was our main contact and she always answered emails promptly and was always happy to answer questions and give advise. We also had 2 day of coordinators, one while we were getting ready and to let vendors in to set up and another during the reception. The food! Oh my gosh, the food is amazing! Normally when I think of wedding food, I imagine it’s okay, and only kind of warm. This food was incredible and you could tell they cooked it to serve immediately. I seriously can’t say enough about the food. From the lunch for the bridesmaids, to the appetizers and dinner, everything was delicious. If you have your wedding here, you should know you’re not only getting a beautiful venue and delicious food, you’re also getting a coordinator. Emily will help you think of everything and also write up a day of timeline for you. This venue was towards the top of our budget, and I had some buyers remorse at first, but come Wedding day, best decision ever!!

The space was beautiful and really just felt like us.On top of that the staff was absolutely incredible! They really did treat us like gold and we could not have asked for anything more.Finally the food was incredible, we did a cocktail hour with apps and a plated dinner. We also had the do our wedding cake and assorted desserts. Everyone cannot stop talking about how good everything was!Our guests also raved about how truly beautiful the space was and how great the staff was as well. The only complaint we heard from guests (mostly the older ones) was that it was a little loud. But being an old building and former church, that's kinda comes with the package.We would recommend them to everyone!!!

Where do I even begin? I found the Transept through Instagram as I live locally and fell in love with the space even before I was engaged. After I got the ring we quickly booked a meeting to see what this venue was all about. It was love at first sight. The space is stunning and does not need much to make it beautiful. Not only is the space unbelievable but let me talk to you for a second about the service!! From day 1 and meeting with our wedding coordinator Mandy, the service has been incredible. From getting us set up with our initial design meeting, tasting our food, final design day, and the day of - nothing was missed by Funky and the team. The food was also AMAZING and the guests have not stopped talking about their beef short ribs. The best part about this venue is that the kitchen is in the basement so the food was hot and delicious. Back to the service my wedding had a couple of small kids and they asked for milk. Funky's didn't have it but instead of saying that, they went out and got the kids milk. Talk about service..you can't find a team this good anywhere else! Our big day was unforgettable. The morning of, the team set up a champagne station near the bridal suite for us to use and some snacks. There was always helpers around to set up decorations in the morning and set up everything just as I had imagined. Cocktail hour was great with the food that was selected and light music. The reception was wonderful with a full premier bar, hot food, excellent desserts, and the BEST SERVICE ever. I cannot say enough good things about my entire experience with Funky's and the team at The Transept!! It is hard to chose where you want your big day but I am telling you, you will not regret this decision. The money is well worth it and it was so easy for me to work with them. They made my day of stress free and I cannot thank them enough or give them enough praise. Thanks Mandy and team!!!!! You're the best

If you want your wedding to be originally, beautiful, unique and not at a boring banquet hall this is it. Jennifer is amazing and she will make sure your big day is nothing but perfect. They really went above and beyond their duties for my wedding. They accepted all our request for special foods and drinks. The food was out of this world. They planned the most perfect day, I was out of state bride like in California so it was hard for me to be there and plan details but everything turned out exactly or even better than I imagined. You will have great picture spots. The bridal suite is to DIEEEE for. I love the Transept it was amazing in everywhere. Their staff is top notch

From start to finish this venue and staff were Ah-MAZING! From the minute we walked thru the door the personal care and guidance we received was 5 star. We were so fortunate to have staff that lead us through the planning stages, organizing the ceremony, designing a menu, handling the music and lighting, creating ambiance and ensuring that once the day started I didn't have to worry about anything. The food was spectacular, even those who had food allergies or restrictions were \"wowed\" by the taste and presentation. The Transept's location was ideal for pictures(across from Washington Park), out of town guests, and for moving the reception to after hours locations(just in case you and guests still want to dance...Righteous Room). The Bridal suite is magnificent and comfy. We felt regal as we started to prepare for the day...lunches, champagne and music flowed. The Grooms Room was also equally as accommodating. We wanted to have a venue that was \"self contained\". We didn't want our guests to have to go off property while we took pictures and we wanted to keep the party going from the minute they arrived. So the fact that The Vestry, which is a beautiful and classy bar on the first floor of The Transept was ideal. Our guests went downstairs after the ceremony for cocktails while the room upstairs was flipped for the reception and the bridal party took pictures. The Transept created THE most spectacular moment for us to commemorate our new chapter. And all our guests would agree.

I called to place a deposit on a wedding venue that my fiancé and I really liked. They took my payment info and told me I was all set. 3 days later I hadn't been contacted and was never charged, so I called again to see if it had gone through. I was transferred from person to person at least 3 times before being told they had to speak with their managers and that they would call me back in an hour with an answer. They never bothered to call back. 3 hours later I called the woman who gave us our tour and she told me that the venue had been booked for that date 3 weeks ago. She also informed me that they usually write up a contract before taking payment for a deposit. I cannot believe that they would tell me a date is available when it isn't and take my credit card information before they even had a chance to write up the contact (which the man on the phone didn't inform me of).It's understandable that they would make the mistake of telling me a date is available when it really isn't, but when they realized the mistake they didn't bother to tell me. They let me continue on thinking I had a venue booked for a specific date and waited for me to figure it out on my own. What's worse is that when I called them a second time they wouldn't even give me a straight answer or tell me if the date was still available, and didn't even bother to call me back to explain what happened. Again, they figured it was just easier to let me figure everything out about the mistakes they had made. We had already announced our date and venue to our family and friends, and Funky's Catering would have been completely content with us thinking everything was all set for weeks or longer, as long as they don't have to deal with their own mistakes and handle the fallout. I would have considered booking another date if they had simply called me, admitted their mistake, and explained the situation, but they've made it very clear that they don't care about getting my business. Extremely disorganized, extremely unprofessional, and extremely disappointing. When you screw up this badly in the future, have the common decency to let your clients know so they can make alternate plans while they still have options. And when they call asking for answers, don't just shuffle them around, avoid their questions, and lie to them to get them off the phone. If you're incapable of handling this situation in a professional manner, why should anyone trust you with their wedding day? What other mistakes would you keep a secret from your clients?This was one of the worst customer service experiences that's ever been inflicted on me and I will recommend to everyone I know that they stay far away from Funky's Catering if they don't want to waste their time.

The Transept was OUTSTANDING!! It took a small army to pull off the service they provided. They went above and beyond to make every detail perfect and our day was as spectacular as it was due to the Transept and their amazing team. We received so many compliments on how neat our venue was. Cannot say enough good things or recommend highly enough!!

The Transept was OUTSTANDING!! It took a small army to pull off the service they provided. They went above and beyond to make every detail perfect and our day was as spectacular as it was due to the Transept and their amazing team. We received so many compliments on how neat our venue was. We had our rehearsal dinner at the Transept and it was fantastic. Funky's did an excellent job catering the event - the food was hot, delicious, and the service was outstanding. Davidson was our captain and he did not disappoint. The setting is very neat, and all of our guests loved it. Afterward, there were plenty of places to walk and have another beverage if desired. Highly recommend!

The most beautiful venue. I absolutely loved getting ready in the bridal suite in the bell tower. The staff was amazing and so helpful. Everything ran extremely smooth. My husband and I love going back to have drinks at Vestry.
