What can I say-- except PERFECT!!! We went into meeting with Alia not knowing anything at all about weddings and what we wanted, and she set us on the right path with a great space!! We booked The Broadway Room for our wedding ceremony and reception-- and this space is just perfect on its own!! Alia really took care of us and made us feel like we were just being added to the Uptown family. I truly can't recommend The Uptown or Alia enough for any kind of ceremony or event.

We had gone through so many venue tours before we came across the Uptown that I just didn't know if I had found the one. So when we set up an appointment with Alia, we were immediately taken away by the options of rooms that we had at the price point. There are 3 event rooms that we took a tour of that weren't the theater itself. The Broadway room was beautiful and light with the arch windows, but we decided on the Cabaret room for our ceremony and the Valentine room for our reception which, to most venues, we got as a steal! Alia was very forthcoming when saying that she would take the role as wedding planner and she was truly a blessing. She communicated with all of our vendors, helped set up our decorations and added the finishing touches, created our general outline, and even provided us with champagne (beer for the boys) during our getting ready. She was so sweet and genuinely cared that our wedding went as smoothly as possible. I couldn't have survived this wedding process without her. If you ever consider the Uptown, I promise you won't be let down by how communicative and caring everyone truly is.

We had our wedding here, in the main theater. I also happen to work with Uptown for my catering company with whom I am employed on a very consistent basis. First off- I have NEVER heard a bad word from any client I have ever worked with hosting their wedding here (and I have worked on about 50 weddings at this venue)! NOW- on to MY special day.....we chose Uptown for a number of reasons. 1. It is BEAUTIFUL! 2. It fit our personalities perfectly. 3. They provide bar service, linens, china, flatware, napkins and 4. ALIA- Alia is the most flawless human I have ever worked with in this industry and that included on my own big day. Alia's communication with us was beyond exceptional. We never had a question she couldn't answer. She made sure that every single moment of our day was absolutely perfect. She goes out of her way (although, it really isn't out of her way- she does it anyway!) to work through every little detail and make sure we had the day WE wanted from day 1. I would go back in time and every single time choose Uptown for my wedding venue. I can assure you that you will NOT regret this decision!!!

First of all, this venue was stunning and easy to get to since it’s in midtown KCMO.The best part of having a wedding there was the venue coordinator, Alia. We had 125 guests and Alia’s amazing staff made each of them feel welcomed. If we were getting married again, we’d do it all the same.Alia sold the venue for us. She was magical and so easy to work with.

Alia, the coordinator, was extremely communicative, always professional and never missed a beat. The day of the wedding she knew what she needed to do and she rarely bothered me as the bride unless it was truly an emergency. The venue (we used the Broadway Room) is absolutely beautiful already and didn’t need much added to it. 10/10 recommend The Uptown Theatre as a venue fit your dream wedding.

From the moment we toured, we knew we would be taken care, Alia is a wonderfully friendly person who answered all of our questions and showed us all of the wonderful aspects of the venue. We had our reception and ceremony in the theater itself, and it was extraordinarily beautiful. The process of touring, booking, planning and day of were handled so professionally, it took so much stress away from us.Alia was there every step of the process, including our rehearsal and the day of. Our friends and family were very pleased with the wedding day as well, the bar staff were friendly and wonderful. There was plenty of parking close to the venue, and the catering staff (we went with the recommended Brancatos) were fantastic!Thank you Uptown Theater! Special thank you to Alia!

We and ALL of our guests are still raving over how perfect our venue was!! Obviously the space is GORGEOUS, jaw dropping quality. And the space is also super functional for all wedding festivities; cocktails, dinner, dancing, etc. The backstage area was amazing for getting ready and housing all the behind the scene things. Alia (venue coordinator) must have answered 52 million questions over the last 18 months of planning. Her attention to detail was phenomenal. And holy cow the night went soooo smooth. Staff was amazing at catering to guests and especially the wedding party! I would recommend the Uptown over and over and over again!

Uptown theater was by far our best vendor! Our space in the Broadway room was absolutely beautiful, but what was even better was our event coordinator Alia! She made the entire process so easy from start to finish and collaborated with all of our other vendors. The day of the wedding, I had no idea about any of the small mishaps because Alia had it handled it almost immediately. The wait staff and bartenders were friendly and fast. Uptown was worth every penny!

we had my daughters wedding reception in the Broadway room. we had around 170 guests it was the perfect size . I couldn't of asked for a better event planner than Alia ,she has a great personality and is fun to work with, her attention to detail and dedication to ensure your reception goes off without a glitch is outstanding. she keeps all the venders inline to make sure all the timing is correct, even the two aunts bickering over how to set up the cookie table. Alia handles every aspect of the reception, even cutting the cake. she keeps everything like the speeches and dollar dance on a efficient time schedule. what she does with the lighting is amazing, totally transforms the room. we had Axel from Platinum DJ, he was awesome that is Alias preferred vendor. Alia was a huge help to my daughter through out the planning process, she was quick to respond to any question or idea she had even on the weekend. we were so lucky to have found Alia and the Uptown to have the reception. Thank you so much for helping make Matt and Alexis's big day so special! Her energy and positive vibe, dedication to make sure your thing goes perfectly is awesome. The absolute BEST! Alia was always quick to respond to our questions prior to the wedding. She gave great advice and made sure my son and daughter-in-laws wedding was a perfect for them. The event could not have gone better! She was on it from the beginning to the very end making sure the night was spectacular. As the MOG I was able to totally enjoy myself and not worry about anything thanks to Alia. We couldn’t have been happier with the role she played in the celebration.

Very friendly staff and everyone was so helpful. Our wedding coordinator, Alia, was on top of it and got our room set up, timelines, and information to other vendors very quickly! It was wonderful to not have to stress about anything on our big day and know things were taken care of. The reception set up was stunning!! We had our ceremony in The Cabaret- intimate with great lighting- and our reception in The Valentine. No room flip was needed and our guest were able to enjoy happy hour without feeling in the way. We loved The Broadway, but we had a big wedding so it wasn’t quite big enough for us. 10/10 recommended!

I can not rave enough about this venue. We rented out the Broadway room for both ceremony and reception and it turned out so beautiful. Guests were in love with the venue and complimenting how beautiful it was. Alia (the event coordinator through the venue) was amazing! She stayed on top of both weddings that was happening and made the planning process so easy and stress free. Highly recommend!

I can not rave enough about this venue. We rented out the Broadway room for both ceremony and reception and it turned out so beautiful. Alia Johnson and the Uptown Theater was everything I could have asked for! The uptown is beautiful itself but Alia brought the beauty out. My husband and I were very impressed and happy with having our wedding at Uptown Theater. From our initial tour in February '21 to our wedding in July '21, Alia and the team at Uptown were very accommodating and focused on details. Alia was instrumental in ensuring my wife and I, along with our families and guests, had an optimal experience. She handled all communication with vendors before and during the wedding, allowing for us to focus on having a great time. Her experience with wedding coordination was evident and proved valuable for us. She was very accessible! Response time was A1.A few notes: - The Broadway Room was perfect for our guests (75 guests + DJ and photographer). We were a little concerned about the natural lighting from the arched windows creating a back-lit issue for pictures and it was not a problem.- Included in our package with Broadway Room was access to the dressing room that had a small theater attached to it. Maybe 20 seats? It was cool to have that space to use before the wedding. My husband had a few drinks and watched a movie until it was time to get ready and go on with the wedding.- It was cool to have our names on the marquee! No additional cost there!- We were able to have an ice cream truck come through for our guests. The truck was able to park outside in front. Alia was able to coordinate that for us, too.- We didn't use the in-house catering option but Uptown provided utensils, plates, and bussing for our meals.

Uptown Theater was a dream come true!! All a bride needs for an amazing and stress free wedding is Uptown, Alia, and the staff. When I first walked into Uptown for my tour my jaw dropped to the floor. We wanted a spacious site to host our old Hollywood themed ceremony and reception, and the theater at Uptown was the perfect place. It had character, color, drama, and an element of surprise. Just to name a few some of my favorite aspects of my wedding include the spacious theater, our own lighting technician throughout the ceremony and reception (amazing first dance pictures), a video projector we were able to use for my father/daughter dance, rock star dressing rooms, an unbelievable staff who helped with set up and tear down, a personalized marquee message that we used for our engagement photos and our wedding day, and last but not least ALIA! We decided on Uptown just as the pandemic began. When we all naively thought covid would last only a few weeks. It didn’t. Every month the restrictions changed for better or for worse. It was difficult planning a wedding during the pandemic, but Alia (the coordinator) did everything to reassure us that it will still be a great day no matter what. And it was!!! Every month I would send her a lot of “what if” scenarios, and she came up with a plan on how to make things work. Thankfully the restrictions in Kansas City were all lifted just weeks before our wedding! In the end were able to do everything we had hoped and planned. I cannot say enough great things about Alia. She is a wedding coordinator dream, and the best part- she comes with the package!!! As soon as I sent her a text or email with a question, she replied immediately!!! I never waited more than a few hours for a reply. Or if she was going to be out of town- she let me know ahead of time. Sometimes she would message me just before midnight with an answer to my question. Whenever I had an idea- she made it happen. If we ran into a problem- she found a solution and a way to make it happen. She let us come in at different times throughout the year to do walk throughs or play with some ideas, helped us out with our food, created our timeline, made sure we got down the aisle, gave suggestions about Mr. and Mrs. cocktail drinks, constantly checked in on us throughout the wedding, created the floor plan, worked with our decorator to make sure she had lots of time to work her magic, helped with the rehearsal, and in the end was more than a coordinator but a great friend. I have missed her a lot since our big day!! The day of the wedding we had so many compliments about the space. We heard- “This space is perfect.” “What a beautiful place in Kansas City.” “We had no idea Uptown did weddings.” Uptown went through a lot of changes during the pandemic. All acts were cancelled or postponed for more than a year. This allowed workers to do some touch ups in the theater. They added new lights and gave the walls a fresh coat of paint. And it shows. My husband and I are now planning to go to several shows at Uptown as things continue to reopen. And remember the place where we said “I do.” We wanted our wedding to be special and it was. It was more than just a day, but a new beginning. Thank you Uptown. Thank you Alia. You went above and beyond to create our dream wedding. Any bride would be lucky to work with you!!! We cannot recommend Uptown enough to all future couples looking for a different place to get married or host a memorable party.

As the mother of the bride, I was nervous about hosting the event because we were from out of town. Alia was an absolute dream as the event coordinator. She was very responsive to our questions both before and during our wedding. She provided all the communication and legwork with our other vendors on wedding day, allowing us to simply enjoy the wedding day and not fret the wedding day details. She kept us on track during the planning stages, knowing when decisions needed to be finalized. We never could have managed without her guidance and coordination!! The food was spectacular, the taste testing made it very hard to choose the menu as everything was spectacular. The event staff was very professional. The event was perfect from start to finish.

Our problem with this vendor was that lots of promises were made that fell through. Albe failed to hold up her end on many things and for as much money as we spent through them, it was disappointing. Also, my fiancé and I are both chefs, and their menu came highly recommended, you also HAVE to book your food/beverage package with them. You don’t get to do a tasting before you put your deposit down either, which I expressed my worry about and she assured me it would be fine, they have never had somebody unhappy with their food(she’s a good salesperson) We did out first tasting and it was inedible. We scheduled another tasting which was night and day different and much better! Come wedding night, the food was absolutely horrible. Steak was so overcooked, roasted potatoes we undercooked and hardly cut down. I could go on and on, it was just very unappetizing. Albe, the room captain- was waking around in knee highs chiefs socks and her staff was waiting tables with stocking hats on...very unprofessional. If we were to do over again, we would choose a different venue or at least hired a different caterer.

We choose the Valentine Room on the 2nd floor and we absolutely loved it! Since it is a dark room and they have LED light we were able to make my Fall wedding even more Fall with the colors and decorations. The Room is a black and slate almost and you can make what you want and with the dark room it's very romantic. The only downfall is that it is hard to get a hold of the sales manager, their lack of communication can be frustrating at times; calling 3 times a day for a week straight before getting a response is a little ridiculous.

She basically ensured that everyone had what they needed, enjoyed themselves and made everything run smoothly. The food was amazing. This is a \"one stop shop\" event space offering full catering, bartending, set up, tear down & a coordinator. My husband and I cannot recommend this place enough. We had a blast as well as our guest and it's all thanks to the wonderful staff!!!

Uptown Theater was the perfect venue for our wedding. We absolutely love the Broadway room. We had a great relationship with our original day of coordinator, Alia, but a few weeks before the wedding, we were told without warning that she was gone and Albe was taking over. We felt like Albe did not do her best work for our wedding, which was disappointing. She seemed disingenuous and disappeared shortly after the ceremony without telling us. Also, the food stations were very awkward, the chips were stale, and there were some miscommunications. That is why I am giving them 4/5 stars. Still would recommend.

I cannot begin to describe how amazing our experience leading up to our wedding and the day of was. It was all so BEAUTIFUL! We loved this venue when we first saw it in a magazine, but when we actually did the tour? OMG we were in awe and booked the Theater Room on the spot. Even though we live hours away, we had to have that venue for our wedding. It was perfect, with the juliette balcony, stage, and dance floor. The adjacent cocktail room was perfect as well. The food was also just as amazing. Everyone was talking about it and the whole venue itself!We had our ceremony and reception here. The transition between the two was seamless. Everything here was seamless. Albe Sells was AMAZINNNGGGGG. Cannot say enough how thankful we were to have her. She truly went above and beyond leading up to the day and the day itself. When I freaked out, on the phone or in person (which was frequently), she always knew the right things to say and do to calm me down and reassure me. She genuinely wanted the best for us, and did everything we asked her to and more. She even took care of things we didn't ask her to, that we didn't even think of, and they just made our big day even more special. Love her and Uptown Theater!!! <3

The Uptown was super easy to work with and I highly recommend working with them. They cater, set up, provide table decorations, and were incredibly thorough in planning the event timeline. The only thing I think that wasn't totally perfect was some of the food was cold by the time I ate, but other than that, everyone remarked what a great venue it was (we had the Valentine room), and how beautiful the decor was set.

I am so glad that I had my wedding reception at the Uptown. Albe and her entire staff made all of my dreams come true. They were so professional and I felt like I didn't have anything to worry! They had champagne for us to drink while we were getting ready in the morning. They also made sure that we had appetizers brought backstage to us during the cocktail hour. One of her staff made my dinner plate for me so I didn't have to go through a buffet line. Just little things that make their service exceptional. They were able to set everything up for me just how I wanted and exceeded my expectations. Their level of service is top notch! I was never without a drink and there was always someone available if we needed anything! They made everything transition flawlessly! I am so glad that we had our reception at the Uptown Theatre. The venue is gorgeous and the service is one of a kind!

We just had our wedding at the Uptown and it was perfect. We did our catering and bar package through them as well which was comparable to any other vendor price wise and the food was phenomenal. When we selected items for our menu, they had a 'tasting' for us which was basically like going to a five star restaurant. We were presented with a wide array of foods as well as the ones we had selected to try with service and drinks included. In our planning process Albe Sells was there and would respond to my emails and calls within a day at the most. We rented the theater for our wedding, so we were able to have our rehearsal the night before and then Albe was our day of coordinator, which was amazing. We had some very bad weather, but Albe kept everything moving smoothly and we had ZERO issues throughout the night. This is a superb all-inclusive event space, with several rooms to choose from, and there is absolutely no other venue in the city that will give you all that the Uptown offers for the price which is still the going rate for the city. There is truly no other venue in the city that is better. We are so happy we chose the Uptown for our wedding!

We were presented with a wide array of foods as well as the ones we had selected to try with service and drinks included. In our planning process Albe Sells was there and would respond to my emails and calls within a day at the most. We rented the theater for our wedding, so we were able to have our rehearsal the night before and then Albe was our day of coordinator, which was amazing. We had some very bad weather, but Albe kept everything moving smoothly and we had ZERO issues throughout the night. This is a superb all-inclusive event space, with several rooms to choose from, and there is absolutely no other venue in the city that will give you all that the Uptown offers for the price which is still the going rate for the city. There is truly no other venue in the city that is better. We are so happy we chose the Uptown for our wedding!

We absolutely loved the way our wedding turned out. We had our reception in the Broadway room, which is gorgeous on its own, but everything came together so perfectly. They do everything in house from food, bar to having a day of coordinator. It was a little more expensive then if we would have been if we had done it on our own but very comparabile to the venues around town. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 is because there were a few moments I had trouble communicating with the staff. But overall it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend it to others!

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. My wife and got married in the Broadway Room of Uptown Theater this past weekend. The whole process from start to finish was flawless. I have way too much to say for one review so I'll try to shorten it down into a list.Albe was our coordinator with the venue, and she was so helpful and easy to work with. She had answers to every question and made tying the whole thing together so much less stressful than it would have been otherwise. I would 100% use Uptown again based purely off of how easy she made everything. I cannot stress this enough.Since Uptown has a kitchen and a liquor license all of the food and alcohol is condensed into one vendor, and that's all handled behind the scenes. The food and drink was delicious and the bartenders did a phenomenal job. The cook even worked around different dietary restrictions and requests (that I had forgotten to mention until the day of because I'm awful).They just added new LED lights that let you change the color of the room, and it really added something to the event. The pictures are amazing and having the lighting match wedding colors is something I didn't know I would appreciate this much. That plus putting your name up on the marquee out front really make for some great pictures.We had a short notice issue (as in the week of the wedding) with a vendor that was not Uptown's fault, but I received a call from the GM that filled me in on everything I needed to know and how they were going to handle it. It turned what should have been a huge problem into something positive. The new vendor they picked out to replace the old one was fantastic and I didn't have to worry about switching anything over or gathering all new information.All in all the night could not have gone better. I could go on and on about how phenomenal the experience was, and how everyone loved the venue, and how perfect the night was. If you're even THINKING about using Uptown I recommend reaching out to them and setting up a tour and meeting with their staff. There's not a single thing I can think of that went wrong or could have been improved on their side. I would (and will) recommend them to anyone and everyone. Thank you guys so much for making the best day of my life that much better. We really appreciate it.

The food was DELICIOUS and they have affordable alcohol packages as well. The theater is so beautiful and so well maintained that it added to our overall decorations - very vibrant in color. We were very pleased with this venue the very first time we saw it and we knew we made the right choice. Our guests loved the venue and were well taken care of by the organized, courteous and helpful staff. Our wedding reception was in the Broadway Room, which is beautiful and even has new hardwood floors throughout. Albe was great at responding to emails from my mom about every little detail and she and others worked hard to put everything in place so my mom and I didn't have to. I honestly don't even know where to begin with how much we enjoyed having our wedding at the Uptown Theater! For starters, I would absolutely recommend this venue to anyone looking for a unique and fabulous location for your wedding!The first time we met with Albe at the Uptown, we were very impressed by the organization and quality of the packages they offered. We had already met with some other very popular wedding venues in the area and were anxious about what the Uptown had to offer. Out of everywhere that we had seen, the Uptown had the most comprehensive and inclusive package! Everything was laid out clearly and there was no additional or \"hidden\" fees! The planning process with Albe was a breeze; she was always there to offer suggestions and make sure that our vision became a reality. Every meeting that we had with Albe and her team only made us feel more comfortable and confident that our wedding day would be perfect! When it came time for our menu tasting, we were very impressed by the variety of options that were offered and had a difficult time choosing our favorites!!! Everything was delicious and exceeded our expectations. They were even able to accommodate several food allergies and special requests. One of the best parts about having our wedding at the Uptown Theater was how involved and hands-on they were with setting everything up; I dropped off all of our decor a few days before the wedding and when I showed up the morning of it was all set up exactly how we had asked! It took a tremendous amount of stress off of us and we were able to spend more time with our family and friends before the wedding instead of spending that time getting things ready at the venue. When it came time for the wedding day, everything went flawlessly. Albe had communicated with all our vendors and had everything ready to go; all we had to do was enjoy the day! To this day we are still getting compliments on how gorgeous and fun the wedding venue was, and we owe that all to the staff at the Uptown! From the gold chairs, to the candy bar to our name in lights, everything was unique and absolutely stunning! We used the Uptown's DJ, Shelly, and were beyond impressed with her as well. She spent several hours with us on phone meetings prior to the wedding and made sure that everyone was on the same page. She kept the whole night running on schedule and made sure that everyone had a great time! We told her that we wanted everyone dancing, and she sure made that happen! Another thing about the Uptown that was a huge positive for us was that they do all of the tear down and clean up after the wedding. My husband and I have been in multiple weddings recently where the couple's family and bridal party has to stay after the wedding and clean everything up. The Uptown takes care of this for you!! Overall, we cannot thank Albe and the whole team at the Uptown enough for making our wedding the best day of our lives. I can honestly say that I have zero complaints and was 100% satisfied with the services that the Uptown offered!!

Albe and the entire crew at Uptown Theater were amazing. I would highly suggest hiring the house DJ \"Shelly\" as well. The crew was extremely professional, and made sure the day was perfect for my wife and I. I have zero complaints about the day of the wedding. The only \"problem\" we encountered was that it was sometimes hard to get a hold of Albe. But, in the end, she made sure the day was smooth and fun.We had both our ceremony and reception in the Broadway room. Again, everything was beautiful and well done. Also, this was very affordable. We had around a 100 guests, and we kept the entire budget for the wedding (buffet and open bar) for less than 10k. Albe has the pre-wedding/reception planning down to a science. Every bridal party request and contingency thoroughly examined, covered. and/or provided. Our July 2016 daughter's wedding reception went off without a hitch, thanks in LARGE part to the \"choreography\" for the evening's events, the food (5-star marvelous appetizers and buffet), DJ Mike (outstanding), the professional bar staff, and the many, many \"invisible\" support folks working behind the scenes. Throughout the evening, Albe and her staff were most accommodating with any last minute tweaks requested of the bride or father of the bride !! Although we had NO drama arise at our event, we could tell that Albe and staff had the personalities, professionalism and experience to deal with all sorts of families, calamities, or issues that may arise in an evening.Uptown's Broadway Room is an excellent, spacious, attractive, and comfortable venue. And it all comes with reminders throughout of the magnificent history of the Uptown Theater !!We whole-heartily recommend the Broadway Room at the Uptown. The bridal party and our 200+ guests had a most enjoyable and fun reception and evening. The compliments on the venue just kept coming throughout the event.Thanks for a wonderful and memorable reception experience !!

Speechless!From the first time we walked into the Broadway Room, we knew that it was the venue that would make our daughter's wishes for her wedding reception come true. Little did we know that the \"little buy mighty bonus\" of Albe came with it! She made us feel that we could work together and pull it off, even before we knew exactly what we wanted to do. She was helpful with her suggestions, patient with our changes of ideas, supportive during our times of stress and encouraging when we doubted ourselves. She quickly became a trusted part of our wedding team. We never doubted for a second that things would run smoothly. What we didn't know was that Albe and her staff would do it all! They moved furniture, followed our directions for set-up to the last detail and made sure that EVERYTHING was just as we wanted. They even sent us photos so that we wouldn't worry. They worked with our vendors to be sure they were able to do their parts and covered glitches we forgot. The food was delicious, the music entertaining, the staff helpful and discreet. The part that touched my heart the most was after the party ended. They were patient with guests who didn't want the party to end, but quietly went about loading up our things so that we could all go home. We were all so tired, but wanted to wrap up things and get out of your way for the next party they will have. It seemed like they were all part of our family who had worked so hard and shared so much with us. They knew how perfect things had been for the bride and groom and the next day our daughter told me that it had been EVERYTHING that she had hoped for. What more could we want? Albe has a gift for what she does and many lucky brides and grooms benefit from that gift!

I wouldn't go through them for anything ever again and wouldn't recommend them. I'm sad looking back on the biggest day of my life, knowing these two women ruined several parts of it. If you're a bride- DON'T go through Albe-- she's only employed there because her dad is part owner. You can find a better, more reliable venue somewhere else.

When searching for our venue we had a lot of criteria to meet as this is what I was the only thing I was picky about. Overall it was beautiful and we received many compliments the day of. \rTL;DR: The Broadway Room is beautiful and the Staff is pleasant and super helpful! Our day was perfect!\rWe had out wedding in the Broadway Room. When we originally went to look I wasn't too fond of the old blue carpet in the room, but was then informed that they were hard-wooding the entire room. We came back after it was completed and it was beautiful. The floor made the whole room look bigger. Before our wedding date they also added up-lighting and LEDs to the Arch Windows.\rAlbe was our wedding coordinator and Trudy was our room captain. They were both unbelievably helpful and pleasant to work with. Albe kept in constant touch with me to make sure everything was scheduled and kelp on time and Trudy made the room look exactly how we talked about. \rOverall it was wonderful and I would definitely recommend this venue to future couples.

Overall it was beautiful and we received many compliments the day of. \rTL;DR: The Broadway Room is beautiful and the Staff is pleasant and super helpful! Our day was perfect!\rWe had out wedding in the Broadway Room. When we originally went to look I wasn't too fond of the old blue carpet in the room, but was then informed that they were hard-wooding the entire room. We came back after it was completed and it was beautiful. The floor made the whole room look bigger. Before our wedding date they also added up-lighting and LEDs to the Arch Windows.\rAlbe was our wedding coordinator and Trudy was our room captain. They were both unbelievably helpful and pleasant to work with. Albe kept in constant touch with me to make sure everything was scheduled and kelp on time and Trudy made the room look exactly how we talked about. \rOverall it was wonderful and I would definitely recommend this venue to future couples.

The Uptown Theater is an unparalleled KC Wedding Experience, I can't say enough about Albe and her team and the regal venue they run. Before we even realized we could host the reception at The Uptown, we initiated our venue search with an expected guest count of 350-500 and a bevy of expectations and unique requests, touring/reviewing/almost signing contracts with five popular KC halls (Union Station, Oakwood Country Club, Town Pavilion, The Madrid, Urban Event); all nice but lacking the versatility or full package coordination we felt necessary (and owed, for tens of thousands of dollars) to host a wedding that everyone in attendance wouldn't want to end. Long story short, we met Albe Sells, who sold us on her expertise before we even toured all of the halls within the venue. 100% absolute best venue and service we could have ever imagined for our wedding. The venue is gorgeous and the staff is friendly, flexible, responsible and extremely organized.\r\rMy husband and I had our reception in the the theater, which is absolutely gorgeous in itself and needs very little decorating because of it's elaborate nature but we also toured the Broadway and Valentine rooms and really liked them both, but chose the Theater in the end because of it's uniqueness and the stage was the perfect set up for a band. \rThe Uptown had a lot of choices for linens, chairs, lighting, etc. which was really nice to make the venue our own and at no extra cost (the gold chairs are gorgeous!). \rThe service from day 1 was fantastic and continued the whole way until the end of our wedding day. We worked primarily with Albe who is an all star. She was very flexible with us as far as meeting went as well as us changing our minds on decisions we had already made :). She was always friendly and helpful in every interaction. Every question we had, she had an answer and a plan, she had everything taken care of and we didn't have to worry about anything! \rThe Uptown set up all of our decorations, put out all of our favors which was AMAZING that we didn't have to worry about doing the set up ourselves. They also did all tear down when the reception was over which was again, amazing! They are a very busy venue and had a Christmas party the night before our reception but you never would have known, that is how efficient they are! \rThe day of, Albe took care of everything, she and the band were so in sync, we didn't have to worry about what was happening and when, we just went where we were directed :) She checked in with us multiple times throughout the night to make sure everything was going well! The staff that were working that night were great people! So friendly and happy, each of them came up to me and congratulated us! The staff was so quick to clear the tables, cut the cake, etc. \rOverall, it was a fantastic experience. We loved working with Albe and it was so nice in all of the stress of planning a wedding to know she had everything for the reception taken care of. I'm sad we won't be working together anymore! My husband and I recently had our reception at the Uptown. We were hosting a large wedding and were having a hard time to find a unique space in Kansas City. We decided to tour the Uptown theater room and when we first saw it, we knew it was perfect. The space alone is so unique that it doesn't need much decorating itself. Albe was our point of contact and our day of coordinator. She always answered all of our questions and made picking out all the details for our reception so easy. She coordinated with all of my vendors which was a major thing I did not have to deal with. We got to have our names put on the marque sign out in the front of the building which was a pretty incredible backdrop for photos. We were required to use the food provided by the Uptown kitchen. Albe hosted a food tasting night where we got to try several dishes. The food was wonderful and there are so many options to pick from. We also had a full open bar which included 9 different beers and every liquor you could imagine. The staff was so nice to me, my husband, and all of our guests. The day before the wedding, we were dropping off all of our decorations and the Uptown staff set everything up for us. They also helped with clean-up after the reception was over. We also rented out a space the day before our wedding for our rehearsal dinner. We were able to bring in outside food to this event and Albe and her staff set everything up. I would recommend the Uptown Theater to anyone. It is worth every penny you spend there.

The food was wonderful and everyone is so nice! Albe is the best... She truly made our day. You can count on her for anything and she gets it done for you! ALSO DJ Shelley was SO much fun. Everyone kept commenting on how great she was! (Still to this day) I would totally recommended her, Albe and the entire Uptown team! When we decided to use The Uptown as our wedding ceremony and reception venue we were very happy. This venue is absolutely beautiful. As we got farther into the planning process I realized how difficult it was to communicate with our coordinator. Emails and phone calls would be unanswered for a few days without a response. We never received a finalized version of our event timeline until the day before the event and only after I asked for a copy. The week of the wedding our coordinator had been out sick and information had not been passed to other employees correctly. The set up-staff (who was absolutely amazing, by the way) had not received the most current version of the seating chart so there was some scrambling to figure out how to fix that situation. There were also ables missing from places they had been requested during our planning meeting (a month in advance). The evening of the rehearsal we did not have a coordinator there but rather an office worker and a security staff member organizing the rehearsal. There was often a jumble of information before a decision was made. The day of the event we had an entirely different coordinator as the point of contact. As a bride, it's very stressful to have event information pass through so many different people especially with the miscommunications earlier. Fortunately, I have experience in entertainment so situations were able to be handled. However, not everyone has this trait. We had a complicated ceremony and reception and I can't imagine what it would have been like to pull it off without our own knowledge on how these things work. \r\rOn the other hand, the set up and wait staff was absolutely phenomenal. They did a wonderful job of trying to accommodate the last minute changes because of the miscommunications and were extremely efficient the night of the event. \r\rDespite the bumpy organization I would recommend this venue. It is beautiful, the dinner was handled very well, the food was delicious and the set-up and wait staff is great. Be prepared to stay on top of communication with your coordinator and quadruple check that all of your event information is correct.

The Uptown Theater is a world-class venue for a dream wedding. It impresses you first with the drama and beauty of a vintage theater with rich historic elements, only to be enhanced by the detailed and incredibly effective event planning & staff that help guide you through the meticulous process that a wedding entails. \rWe utilized two Uptown spaces to create our own unique event. The Broadway Room naturally emitted a sense of spirituality just perfect enough to host a religious ceremony. The room gorgeously set the ceremony scene by framing huge arched windows behind us, which spills dreamy natural light into the room, and required minimal decoration to make our nuptials look beautiful. Then we had our guests move to the Theater room for the reception, which provides a completely different aura. There is a certain darkness and mystery about the theater that provides a sense of excitement the moment you arrive. The walls are full of colorful statuesque art that has been there for decades, and although we did do a lot of decorating to create our own “Moulin Rouge” type setting, a lot of décor is not needed in here either. We did all black tables with touches of red, and the wedding party sat on the stage for dinner. Their skilled lighting technician works throughout the night to make each part of the event a new part of a story using different colors and varied levels of drama. Using the Theater for your reception is not only completely special compared to other event spaces around Kansas City, it is an implied evening of pure entertainment simply by being true to what it is: a good old-fashioned theater.\rFinally I would like to speak regarding the staff, particularly the head event coordinator, Albe Sells. We originally had made most of our plans with a different coordinator when we started this process over a year in advance of our wedding, and when we heard that person had left, we were nervous to have someone else take over. Little did we know that Albe would completely exceed our expectations. She not only listened and absorbed all of our special requests, her suggestions from her vast experience hosting events made everything that much smoother and efficient. It is always impressive when someone who is that busy coordinating a place that is a 100% event venue remembers each of your specifications, both large and small. The rehearsal & day of the event was unbelievable with Albe and the staff. They truly guide you step by step along the way, always on schedule, always keeping things moving and always knowing best how to advise you throughout the day (not to mention the management all of your vendors). I had no idea how emotional I’d be until the day arrived and Albe & Trudy were my saving grace at several moments when emotions were running high. I even would forget what I needed to be doing next and alas, Albe or one of her staff was always right there to keep me in check. I was blown away by the service and professionalism that Albe & all of the staff brought to my wedding. \rThe Uptown Theater is anything but a run-of-the-mill spot to host a wedding. It is so special and so different from anything else I’d ever seen before at any wedding I’ve attended myself. The beauty and the event coordination are the best aspects that made my wedding a success. This bride literally has no complaints/regrets in choosing the Uptown: I would recommend to the unconventional bride who wants her wedding to be a bit off the beaten path.

We had the reception for my daughter's wedding reception at the Uptown Theater. Albe and her staff were awesome and coordinated every detail. They were very helpful. The wedding style was vintage and so the old theater atmosphere was perfect. We had a gourmet popcorn bar which our guests loved. This is an awesome, historic building which has been restored and is the perfect venue for a wedding reception.

My husband and I looked at several different KC venues before choosing our reception space for our November wedding. The Broadway Room at the Uptown was the perfect spot for us. It was a great value, options with the space and had great character. One of my favorite pictures from our wedding is of us outside in front of the marquee with our names. \r\rThe Uptown takes care of the catering, bar and even had a DJ service we could use if we wanted. Shelly and her team listened to our ideas (and our probably too long do-not-play list) and helped make the evening the big dance party I wanted. \r\rFriendly staff... A lot of our guests told us how great and friendly the staff was throughout the night. Both Albe and Alicia were there throughout the evening to make sure things went smoothly and outside vendors got set up, which they did. They were also available before the night to answer all my questions, preview the space with me, find a specific liquor for a family wedding tradition and confirm a gluten-free meal for one of my bridesmaids. They (and Shelly) were also very accommodating when we asked to extend the party at the end of the reception. \r\rOther Pros... We also enjoyed the yummy tasting the Uptown offers for us and two guests. We had a very nice bridal suite for the wedding party before we were announced stocked with champagne and the beer of our choice... all complimentary. I also really appreciated not being charged for linens, napkin colors, parking etc. that I some of the other venues we viewed charged. \r\rOverall, the Uptown was a great value financially, but also exceeded our expectations on service, quality, music and the list goes on... \r\rWe had about 210-220 guests seated nicely, anymore might have been a little cramped. However, before rvsp's were confirmed, I was expecting more like 250 and the team assured me they would fit by having tables on the dance floor that could be removed after dinner.

My husband and I looked at several different KC venues before choosing our reception space for our November wedding. The Broadway Room at the Uptown was the perfect spot for us. It was a great value, options with the space and had great character. One of my favorite pictures from our wedding is of us outside in front of the marquee with our names. \r\rThe Uptown takes care of the catering, bar and even had a DJ service we could use if we wanted. My husband and I were so impressed with every aspect of our experience with the Uptown. From our initial meeting, we knew we were working with wedding experts. We began working with Kim Baldwin, who helped us develop an initial budget and got us started with the process. As the day drew nearer, we worked with Albe Sells and Alicia, who were there for any of our last minute questions, ensured that everything we wanted was accounted for, and we were confident that once we showed up to our reception in the Valentine Room, everything would be in place. It was. Alicia was there when we arrived in case we needed anything, but the place was perfect. Our appetizers and dinner were delicious and plentiful. The service was amazing--everyone who was working our wedding was kind, friendly, and professional. Many of our guests mentioned how wonderful our reception was. We could not have imagined a more perfect day. We are extremely grateful for all the hard work the Uptown staff put into making our wedding reception so amazing. We would highly recommend the Uptown as a reception venue.

I has my reception at the uptown theater in the broadway room. The room was beautiful. My only complaints are that the food could have been higher qualify and we didn't receive everything we asked for. There was supposed to be an assortment of cheese, crackers, fruits, and veggies as an appetizer. However, there were no veggies! We spoke to them about it and they decided to allow everyone to have free champagne during the toasts. It was a great trade but I wish I would have received what I asked for.

Everything was fabulous! Organized, helpful, food was great! I recommend this venue to any KC couple, it will take away a lot of stress with planning, because they may it easy and beautiful! My 200+ guests all raved about the beauty of the Broadway Room. It was planned in less than 5 months, in house DJ was great too, and we got a discount for using them. I had my ceremony and reception in the same room and the changeover was easy!

We absolutely loved our experience at the Uptown! It was the first and only venue we toured and we absolutely fell in love. My husband and I have very different background and families and we knew that this venue was the perfect mix of beauty and tradition along with hip and modern. Working with Kim was a pleasure! She was so friendly and outgoing and easy to work with. I felt like I had a personal wedding planner without the cost. She made all of our decisions so easy and gave us good advice for those million questions that no one really knows or cares to answer. I especially loved that the day of was no stress and I didn't have to worry about meeting vendors as the venue was open and there were event organizers there to receive everything coming in. Also loved that we could come back later to get everything picked up the Monday after. Everything was gorgeous and went so smoothly. We got so many compliments - from the overall venue to the beautiful appetizer arrangements and the super smooth buffet lines - it was AMAZING!
