Kimberly Swain(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 20-03-2021 We couldn't have had a better experience working with the Newport Beach Marriott throughout our wedding planning process! Kaley and Erika were the best and helped us navigate all the changes to our wedding with COVID and were flexible in helping us create the perfect day! It ended up being perfect, the venue was gorgeous, and I highly recommend the venue and the entire staff! Reviewed on 14-04-2021
Anonymous (bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-04-2016 We booked a group of rooms here for our guests and we (bride & groom) also stayed here on our wedding night and the night before. It was the perfect location for any couple with lots of out of town guests - very close to John Wayne Airport and it's across the street from Fashion Island which means you don't have to drive anywhere!! Our guests loved it here. A big thank you to Sam Curvin for helping us organize the weekend, along with welcome drinks for our guests in the hotel bar's patio on the rehearsal day. It would also make for a stunning wedding venue most definitely! Reviewed on 24-04-2016
Emily Cook(groom)3 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-06-2015 The Marriott is a trusted name for service and excellence. Unfortunately this hotel did not live up to that name. They did very little to accommodate our wedding family and guests staying at the hotel. Nothing out of the ordinary was done for our wedding suite. And they were not acceptable to change. Overall would not use them again. Reviewed on 14-07-2015
Abigail Lau(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 01-11-2014 My husband and I stayed here for our wedding night. When we arrived we immediately congratulated by the staff (we were still wearing our wedding attire). We were automatically given an upgrade to the 15th floor with an ocean view. The room and bathroom was clean and comfortable. The next morning when we went to check out, we were notified that we had lost something... my honeymoon folder (with all the important confirmation numbers and info for our 10 day honeymoon)! I had dropped it by accident outside the previous night when it was raining and security had picked it up. Overnight security carefully blow-dried each sheet of paper so that I could still read everything important in the Honeymoon folder. It is the customer service that made our Marriott stay exceptional and me and my husband would gladly stay here again. Reviewed on 29-11-2014
Ashley Forsyth(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 27-07-2014 Such a great experience with the team at the Marriott. We worked with Amber in the beginning. She is fantastic! So sweet and genuine! Alisa was our contact for the event. She was awesome too! Love to have made friends with such awesome ladies and love the connection we feel towards our venue! The spa team is awesome too! Went there with my Bridal Party a few weeks before and the team was so accommodating and went above and beyond. The venue grounds are gorgeous. Reviewed on 05-10-2014
Kelly Broughton(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 26-04-2014 We picked this place because it was in our budget and the ceremony location was very pretty. We wanted an outside ceremony. We weren't thrilled with the ballroom but everything else was perfect. The wedding coordinator they provide with their packages was the best thing that happened to us. She made it 5 stars, if it wasn't for her I don't think this would have turned into my dream wedding. The Marriott is a beautiful hotel with a great staff. Reviewed on 22-05-2014
Tara Pokorney(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 04-10-2013 If you are just staying here, it's a good hotel. If you are getting married here, I don't suggest it. Do your research. My husband and I got married here last month, and I am still really sad about how much of it went down. \r\rLeading up to the event, the staff and venue were amazing!!! So friendly, helpful, attentive, etc. Just what you would want for the biggest day of your life. We also planned our rehearsal dinner here, along with tons of out of town (and in town) guests staying at the hotel for several nights. \r\rRehearsal and rehearsal dinner come, no one says anything to me or my husband (not one Marriott employee that knew about us were to be found) so we just go to the restaurant finding no signs, nothing set up, and the one waitress on the terrace has no idea what Im talking about. We paid for an open bar cocktail hour out on the terrace, which was to be private. When we arrived, tables were still dirty, people were on it, and no one knew what I was talking about. I had to go through several employees to get MY event going. We were also promised that that terrace would stay private for us after our dinner for us to go back out to and enjoy the night. Nope. We had one table for all of us to squeeze into because so many people were out there. \r\rNext morning, I express to my Marriott Event Coordinator what happened the night before and I am afraid it is going to happen again today. Of course she assured me that wouldn't happen. Well, that was the last I saw of her until the beginning of my reception? There are too many stories to tell about what went wrong and how I had to fix it. It was all so frustrating and unfortunate. I couldn't even get a hold of any employee that ever knew what I was talking about. We even made it over to the reception hall right before they were to let people in, and no bars were even set up! Nothing. Leo (head of banquets I believe) came to the rescue and turned everything around. He was the only employee that actually treated us, and our wedding like it was something special. Finally. \r\rOur wedding turned out beautiful thanks to the four people I had to hire to set up and make sure, and the food was really good. However, my husband and I are just going to try and forget that our wedding got lost in the shuffle of a busy \"Newport Marriott\" day. If even my husband noticed that day that no one seemed to care about our wedding, you know it was bad. The Newport Marriott over-promised and under-delivered. Service that day was so low for us, and on the most important day of our lives. I do not recommend getting married here. Any other type of event, I wouldn't of cared that much, this was the one day that I did. Reviewed on 14-11-2013

Alex Alvillar(bride)5 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 28-09-2012 So I got engaged in April and wanted to get married before Thanksgiving. My husband is a wrestling coach and their season is crazy from Thanksgiving to March. And neither of us wanted to wait till 2013 as we did not live together and wanted to do it the old school way. Having a short engagement made it difficult to find catering, venue, etc for a reasonable price. We were on a pretty tight budget to top it off. Kristen met with my mom and I and when we expressed how much we loved the venue, she ensured she could work with our budget. When we told her our budget, she came up with a proposal that was definitely fair, less than advertised in their regular event literature. We got to use the Seaview Terrace, which was gorgeous, the big ballroom which is already very tastefully decorated (no outrageous colored carpets or walls), and we stayed two nights (a room for both myself and the groom for the night before, a suite for the two of us the night of, and i was able to have my out of town friend stay in my room for the night of as well). It was a wonderful experience!! Kristen and Kim, the two coordinators were fabulous! Always very prompt in returning phone calls and emails, answering questions (and I think I bugged a lot being a crazy bride and all), and being a great support that day. I don't remember the gentleman's name, but he was in charge of all events at the hotel, he was a support the day of and always checked up on me to see if I needed anything or even just wanted a cocktail. I had THE best day of my life and EVERYONE said the food was incredible! That was a huge concern for me. In a tasting, it's easy to make something not too dry or warm for a few people. When it comes to making food for 150, its common to have cold food or dry food. Apparently nobody experienced this! My guests offered up the compliments like crazy on the food! I was so happy to hear that, it really made me happy especially being on such a tight budget. I started with about 300 people and found out I could really only afford half of that so what a relief to have wonderful coordinators, a beautiful venue, and fabulous food all for a very workable price!! It was defintely a big part of making my wedding really be the best day of my life. Reviewed on 24-10-2012

Ellen Turin(bride)4 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 06-11-2010 I selected this venue for a location rather than price or view. It's located right in front of the Fashion Island and less than 5 miles from the airport. We had enough people flying in to CA so this was a good location.\r\rService- \rThe original event planner, Candice was amazing. However due to her recent promotion she was moved to another location and I received another event planner who was also very supportive although I did receive several calls from my vendors that I was working with that she was not responsive or was unwilling to work out the detail. I received few calls the WEEK of the wedding with complaining vendors which then I had to get involved to resolve the issues. Thought I was paying that much more for full event management service the week of the wedding? But overall she was very nice and perhaps it was learning curve.\r\rService Charge- effective Nov 6, 2010 they INCREASED their charge from 22% to 24%. Dont ignore this because its' extra out of pocket money you are spending! \r\rThe day of the wedding was very smooth and everyone was very supportive, I had on-site event coordinator who was VERY good and on time and communicated all the issues in a very professional way.\r\rOverall- beautiful location but expensive, almost comparable to ocean front locations. They were so responsive, professional, accommodating, and gave us some great ideas for our reception and cocktail hour. I never had to worry about a thing during the entire planning process. Everything was done in a timely manner and it was just so easy with them! \rThe day of our wedding went off without a hitch! The staff was there every single step of the way! Jaycie Sainz(bride)1 out of 5 Rating Wedding Date 02-05-2009 Terrible. I booked this location without actually seeing it. I live in Arizona and when we were searching for a ceremony site, I asked very detailed questions about the venue. They neglected to tell me that the \"grass\" at the ceremony site is actually astro turff. I didn't meet our \"wedding planner\" until 20 minutes before our ceremony when she very rudely told me that I needed to hurry up because it's rude to be late for your own wedding. We had our reception at a separate location about 10 minutes awAay and they hotel offers absolutely no shuttle service and was not help at all in assisting me to find one. When booking the rooms I was assured that all of our guests rooms would be next to eachother, and when checking in we discover that they were all scattered around separate buildings and they assigned my fiance and I the smallest room. The housekeeer threw out my retainers and the hotel manager simply replied \"sorry\". They sent champagne and strawberrys to our room at 6 am the day after our wedding and housekeeping walked in without knocking!! I woke up to a spider bite and two spiders in the bed. It was all over a horrible experience and If it werent for the amazing experience we had with our reception venue I would have mainly bad memories of my wedding day. I would not recommend this venue to anyone! Reviewed on 20-11-2010

The wedding day was relaxing and overall very enjoyable! The onsite staff was very attentive and took care of any need we could think of. The only surprise was we were told we would have a carving station and at the wedding, the beef was served in gravy. We did not care at that point because it was delicious! I was not sure about choosing a hotel as the event location but ended up selecting it because of the convenience. Guests were happy too because they could get a room and not drive home after a long night of drinking. Reviewed on 20-11-2010
